Stardew valley rant:
I’ve recently been really getting into the life of spouses after you marry them, because for the majority of them, they kinda just stick at home, occasionally visiting family or friends. And those who do still do stuff, it never changes. Maru always works with Harvey at the clinic, Emily always works for Gus at the saloon, nothing really changes in their lives besides a new, much more sedentary lifestyle. I really would like for the spouses to get new hobbies and stuff when they marry you, so here’s my little ideas/headcannons, bachelorettes first!
Abigail: She begins to work on her adventuring skills in the mines and you’ll find her on every fifth floor, going further and further. She’ll give you gems from her travels, and eventually, when she reaches the bottom of the mines, she’ll start going to the skull caverns where she’ll give you iridium and the occasional prismatic shard. Something cool that could happen would be the addiction of an elevator to the skull caverns as she travels further down, every 25 floors. She would also become a member of the adventurer’s guild and serve as Marlon’s apprentice, taking over the guild on some days or opening a branch in the Calico desert that she mans sometimes.
Maru: Maru never really branches out beyond her personal inventions, so I think there could be a quest where she asks you for a new wing of the house that she could use as a workshop. This wing would be constructed by Robin, would be unlocked at 20 hearts, and would cost 750,000 gold, 250 hardwood, 10 iridium bars and 10 battery packs. Then, you could accept quests from Maru every once in a while and unlock new inventions that she made that would increase qol. Maybe she could give you a crafting recipe for auto-petters, she could make a device that automatically plants grass in meadows for your animals, a machine that can increase the quality of items by using a resource or something, the possibilities are endless!
Penny; Penny is always caring for the children of the valley, and I think it would be great if when you marry her, like Maru, you eventually get a quest that allows you to build a school for the kids, possibly utilizing the space to the left of the community center. Maybe then we could have another mini-festival where you can see the children of stardew valley show off their work, maybe unlock a “Talent Show” cutscene where Jas, Vincent, and Leo show off their skills fr. This idea is more underwhelming than my first two and could definitely be improved.
Emily: I think as you progress your post marital relationship with Emily you could help her convince Sandy to move to the valley and have someone else take over the Oasis, learning Sandy’s real name, unlocking special cutscenes with her, etc. I also feel like Emily would have a little workshop where she makes clothes and you could unlock a system where she takes your gems and a clothing item and combines them, giving your clothes a buff, like combining Topaz with a shirt gave the shirt a +1 defense buff, etc. Emily could even start a clothing line and you could gift these clothes to townspeople and get new sprites and portraits for them :D
Haley: After marriage, Haley does literally nothing but see Emily once a week. This needdsss to change, so I think she could discover her passion for photography again and start a blog about the valley, which would unlock a building to the right side of the Bus Stop: the Tourist Center. You could open a tourist center with Haley and occasionally get tourists that come to the valley, similar to the tourists at the Stardew Valley Fair. These tourists could roam around the town for a bit, and you could unlock new dialogue with the townspeople about the tourists, like “These tourists are really boosting the community economy!”
(Cc specific) Leah: Leah would start hosting art classes in the community center every Wednesday! Every month, the group of people who decided to attend could make a new painting that could be hung up in the community center, orrrr you could unlock a new building between the Blacksmith and the Movie Theater/JojaMart, where you could see the different art pieces and could have a new festival, the stardew valley fine arts conference, where the Famous Painter Lupini could host a talk with the artsy people from the valley and Zuzu City, and you could get new clothing items, a cutscene, dialogue, new paintings and sculptures, etc.
I hope you liked my insane Stardew valley yapping session, I’ll do bachelors tomorrow probably :3

Jonny’s Summer 2023 Guitar Pedalboard
Tumblr media
Jonny about to stomp on a pedal during the Smile's show at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City in late-June, 2023 (elamplimx).
With Radiohead, Jonny is known for very slowly adding pedals to his setup. While Ed often has half a dozen new pedals for a new album tour, Jonny often adds only one (such as his Headrush in 2000 or his Freeze in 2012). And when Jonny swaps out a pedal for a similar one (like one tremolo for another tremolo), it’s usually only when his old pedals are too worn out for touring (such as his original Whammy WH1 and vintage RE-201 Space Echos). One might think Jonny keeps the old pedals around because, since Kid A, he’s often playing other instruments. However, at live shows Jonny is still happy to replicate some recorded sounds on guitar, whether it be the filtered samples on Feral (using volume pedal, Whammy, and phaser) or the col lengo strings on Burn The Witch (using Whammy, overdrive, and a cello bow). It’s clear he enjoys getting the most out of those pedals in that specific arrangement.
But with The Smile, Jonny has been swapping in new pedals pretty regularly. In 2022, Jonny was experimenting constantly, sometimes adding new pedals for only a couple of days before swapping in a replacement. He quickly eschewed some of the Radiohead-favorites heard during the earliest Smile streams, such as his Small Stone, Tremulator, and OD3. In their place came flangers, compressors, and expression pedals: types of pedals he’d never used with Radiohead.
However, it seems like Jonny found a setup he was fairly happy with by the end of the fall 2022 tour. His latest live board is quite similar to the one used during March 2023 recording sessions for the band's upcoming second album, but even so there are a couple surprises!
Tumblr media

(B) Strymon Iridium -> Radial JDI Stereo direct box (Ch2 LOW-Z output) -> FOH Mixer
The small lamp over the board is a Mighty Bright HammerHead music stand light.
Jonny previously used a Peterson StroboStomp HD with his Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 on the Smile's 2022 tour. But this is the first time he’s been seen with one on his guitar board. It replaces the Boss TU2 he’s used since the earliest Smile shows.
The Telenordia Treble Booster is borrowed from Thom. The Telenordia is still marked with Thom’s guitar settings, from when he used it on You Will Never Work In Television Again during December 2021 rehearsals.
Tumblr media
Thom stomping on Jonny's current Telenordia Treble Booster during a rehearsal on December 2, 2021 (youtube).
On Radiohead tours since OK Computer, Jonny has always brought a Vox AC30 — an amplifier well-known for its low and mid gain sounds. With an AC30, Jonny can get different flavors of overdrive by balancing between clipping from the pedal (using the pedal’s gain control) and clipping from the amp (using the pedal’s volume/boost control). And of course, he’d use his separate Shredmaster+Eighty-Five chain for heavy distortion on older songs.
But on tour with the Smile, Jonny has been using a Fender ’65 Reissue Super Reverb, an amp with much more headroom than the Vox thanks to a combination of higher wattage and negative feedback. As a result, we hear the overdrive pedal’s sound more clearly — the Boss SD1’s mid-rangy sound is especially noticeable on live versions of Thin Thing. So it makes sense that even Jonny would want to experiment with multiple dirt pedals for different flavors.
Jonny was first seen using an MXR Dyna Comp in a rehearsal photo, most likely taken when preparing for the fall 2022 tour (despite being posted in 2023). Thom and Ed have both previously used the pedal as well. Thom toured with a Dyna Comp only briefly before switching to his current Telenordia Kompressor. So it's interesting that Jonny first toured with a Kompressor (last year), but has gone the other way and switched to a Dyna Comp.
For those curious about the rhythmic delay setting marked on Jonny’s Akai Headrush E2, check out behind-the-scenes photos from The Smile’s Tiny Desk show. However, so far we’ve still only heard the pedal used as a looper.
Placing his Boss RE-202 after his Headrush allows Jonny to add ambient effects to his loops, as he does during the live outro of Skirting On The Surface.
Jonny first used a Strymon Iridium at a performance of Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint at the Hidden Notes festival on September 25, 2022. For that show, it replaced his amp. But with the Smile, he’s using it as a backup for his Super Reverb.

UPDATE: we originally listed the Telenordia TA-24 Treble Booster as a Telenordia TA-100 Overdrive. Thank you to Kayky for noticing!

🌱🚎💵🗣️🔮 for willowwww <3
YAAAY THANK U FOR THE ASK‼️‼️😼
★。. ★。. ★。. ★。. ★。. ★。. ★。. ★。. ★。. ★
(🌱)// what is their farm called?
Willowleaf! something simple and a little bit romantic..
(🚎)// what made them decide to move?
Willow's main reason for leaving the "stone jungle" is fairly trivial - a desire to run away, and start a new and peaceful life, forgetting the traumatic past.
a little.. uh.. backstory
when Willow was a kid, and life in the city with his mother wasn't exactly sugar-coated, he would sometimes go to his grandfather's house in the valley for a while, so this small town with nice people seemed like a paradise he didn't want to leave. and these dreams of starting his beautiful and trauma-free life in Stardew he kept for a long time, until the chance came. and he instantly took that chance...
(💵)// what are your farmer's thoughts on joja?
VERY negative towards the company itself and its abnormal and dishonest (and probably unethical to some extent) policies. Willow himself worked there for a long time and knows what he is talking about, and he experienced the nine circles of hell in that "dream job"
... and any of their products taste like "dry cat shit mixed with acid chemicals", like Willow says, so joja sucks
(🗣️)// who do they socialize with the most during festivals?
he often hangs out with Willy at any festivals! this quiet old fisherman loves to tell old tales and stories related to the festival (like the story of the stardrop and other similar ones), which Willow enjoys listening to :)
plus, being with Willy during the festival hustle and bustle of townpeople is.. peaceful and less annoying
(🔮)// best thing they ever found while in the skull caverns?
the best thing he found in Skull Cavern was a small and extremely sharp dagger, similar to a shiv, made of pure iridium and decorated with gemstones. now this mega cool edged weapon is one of the best in Willow's weapon collection B-)

i know half of these are the wrong symbol but it’s the thought that counts happy birthday
Thank you!! Today was really nice; I held a murder mystery party for my family and friends and it was super fun! I got murdered :) It's also my golden birthday (turned the same age as the day of the month) so I am now 21 years old! Not drinking alcohol is now an active choice of mine instead of a legal requirement

THE AMARIAN COMBINE
Tumblr media
Fig A, above: Wikipedia-style map of The Amarian Combine in october 2418 (The Second World)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fig B and C, above: the flag of The Amarian Combine
The Amarian Combine is a cenfederation of the three Sonhelian states of North Umetuč, Alftheimn and Aucuses. Of the three constituents, North Umetuč has always been the most influential politically and culturally. The Combine was born in 2405 after the centralization of the Amarianist Economic Bloc (founded in 2404) with the signing of the Amaraian Constitution by the constituent states in the Umetučite capital, Tålakjemeqa.
ooc: ok so the Amarian Combine is not really a consisten or coherent creation and the world of Sonhel itself was compeltely redesigned in the in-game year 2409 (a redesign which i actually proposed and carried on)
Anyway this blog is for me to archive and share maps, lore, and memes about Old Sonhel and the Amarian Combine :3

Ob'Lotai made his voice clear to O'Shovah, who'd nod solemnly as his eyes were fixed on Triko, and also noting the interior of the ship he hailed from. A modified T'au ship? His non-existent brows furrow, as he slowly stands up, his robes flowing along his sides as he paces back and forth while speaking to Triko;
"You claim to be here as rogue traders, with no association to the Imperium and their zealotry. For that, I am relieved. But... your ship." he points to the screen to indicate the ship interior behind Triko. "It is of T'au making. You claim to not be here on the Imperium's side, but what of the T'au Empire? Have the Ethereals snared you with their lies, as well?"
"Commander, I sincerely ask that we consider his deal. Our Earth-Caste division have been lacking resources for advanced repairs for a while now, and Bravestorm needs urgent repairs on his Iridium Battlesuit."
It was O'Vesa's voice that caused Farsight to halt his judgment of Triko. He sighs deeply. Bravestorm was in critical condition, indeed. And they did not have enough resources to maintain his Iridium Battlesuit.
"... Land, and we shall talk. Face to face."

My conclusions about Infinite, which I keep meaning to post and not posting:
Definitely more fun to play than Halo 4. But my old junky piano with a cracked soundboard was more fun to play than Halo 4.
For real, though, this was one of the more enjoyable games in terms of just playing for me. The grapple shot makes moving around and keeping up way easier and was handy when I ran out of ammo and needed to stun a few bad guys.
Jen Taylor should win an award for playing Cortana, Weapon, and Halsey in one game. I enjoyed Esparza’s Just Some Guy Forced To Rise To The Occasion vibe, though I do wonder why they were so cagey about his name until the final scene.
Infinite should have started with a doomed mission to defend Infinity so we can get an idea of just HOW BAD things have gotten. The last thing we saw was Lasky’s “we’ll run until we can fight” line at the end of Halo 5. Clearly they couldn’t fight, so let us see how desperate things are. Maybe drop some info about the general state of the universe after a year of Created rule. An explanation about how Infinity lost 11000 crew in one year (I have my Opinions about this number but this is not the place). I know things are rough under Cortana’s undid iridium fist but geez. Show us the Banished boarding and ripping through Infinity like she’s tinfoil. Bonus if we get Chief and Palmer both stopping Lasky from launching himself at Atriox. We all know this happened. Make us understand how Infinity fell in four minutes. THEN give us Atriox going Hulk on Chief’s Loki.
Tumblr media
The game could be kind of…repetitive. The side quests were all pretty much the same: Liberate FOBs, find Spartan cores and audio logs, boss fights, assassination missions, take out propaganda tower. But it’s pretty. 4 was ugly and 5 was…alternately oddly dark and OK-looking.
I liked how Chief’s relationship with Weapon is sort of inverse to his relationship with Cortana. Cortana always knew more than the Chief, but in many ways Chief knows more than the Weapon. Like in CE it’s Cortana who tells Chief about Halo’s purpose and in Infinite Chief has to tell Weapon. And, Chief chooses the Weapon. Not the same way Cortana chose him, but he still chose her when she said “You should just delete me.” It’s a good way of doing the same thing over again without doing the same thing over again.
I wish the gameplay would pause during audio logs because they’re staticky to begin with and I only heard about half of the logs while I was fighting bad guys.
Big questions:
Palmer and Roland are conspicuous in their absence from any audio logs. Where are they?
I’ll ask again what will happen to the Weapon in seven years. I have ideas but just. Do not put us through another Halo 4. Please Microsoft.
All this Endless stuff makes me think we’re nowhere near done with the Master Chief’s story. Steve Downes is 73. I hate to be morbid but what are they going to do if he dies before the story is finished?
I don’t know what to think about Weapon naming herself Cortana. It makes sense and I’m not sure I want it. Also wouldn’t be surprised if that “I think I have the perfect name” line turns out to be a bait and switch since Microsoft has commitment issues when it comes to storytelling decisions.
How will those little time travel portals become important? Weapon didn’t talk about how they traveled three days into the future just for fun. Read on for my theory.
Are the Endless the new Flood?
Headcanons and such:
Esparza’s family is not gone. We’ll eventually find them and Chief will get adopted into the Esparza clan against his will.
Whenever the time comes Weapon will find a way to cure or delay rampancy. Or we’ll just exist in a 6.5 year time loop for the rest of the games. Because again, one Halo 4 is enough.
Infinity is either drifting aimlessly in space or crashed on Zeta Halo, but she will rise again.
Next game we’ll find a bunch of Infinity crew, notably Lasky, Palmer, and Roland, through one of those time travel portals. For them it’s only been a day or two and they’re all like “Wow, Chief, that was fast” and Chief has to tell them it’s really been more like two years. I have a fic idea or two about this.

1-10 on the OC thing if those haven't been asked already?
Funny that I'd answer this around seven year old ask with a character that wasn't even in my mind's eye back then but let's go with Chiyo:
Chiyo is a Schoolkid, who don't get names until "graduation" but are instead assigned codenames based on chemical elements. She was #77 of her 2001 Batch, the New Century Class, so she was designated Iridium. After escaping the School, she renamed herself Chiyo Hoshizawa due to being 1) in a Japanese-based region at the time 2) an astronomy nerd and 3) partially spoilers. Of course, as someone with technically no legal identity, those aren't the only names she's gone by.
Starting out her earliest known alias was Katy Boundree, which is a pun on, well, the K-T boundary, the line of iridium delineating the latest Cretaceous from the earliest Paleocene. Her secondary alias Ida was chosen because 1) it forms a theme with her Minior Dactyl (Yes this is a Pokémon OC) and 2) after African-American anti-lynching activist Ida B. Wells.
2. Templars (The production line School creations as opposed to Schoolchildren being testing-line guinea pigs, or rather lab Rattata) get titles (The Scythe, the Archetype, and the like) based on a power or , but since Chiyo was a Schoolkid even if she had "graduated" and become an Alumnus she wouldn't have gotten one of those. (Though since we joke that every Schoolchild's Steam account is what their Templarsona is called she'd probably be Iridescent Chiyo due to her rainbow Aura)
There's two she's been called. Queen of the Truants, because she's one of the most high profile escapees for defying the School death squads chasing her across the regions for more than 20 years. The other is Hope of the Schoolchildren because to escapees she represents what they can be without a eugenicist, psychic-supremacist organization breathing down their necks.
3. Schoolkids and Templars aren't born in a conventional sense or cloned like Mewtwo was, they're formed from (most often stolen) genetic templates and built by the machine between the apparent ages of 6-14. Chiyo was "born" at 14 around January 2001 (She'd be in her mid 30s biologically in the present but chronologically 22) so she didn't really had a childhood in a conventional sense.
4. As Chiyo would joke, her father was the templates used to make her and her mother was the vat she was decanted out of, so no parents to speak of. There is her "creator", the scientist in charge of the New Century Class project, but Chiyo does not recognize Dr. No Heart as anything resembling a father past that.
I did have plans involving one of the templates used to create her, but those are spoilers for now.
5. Being the product of a vat means no blood siblings, but she does refer to her fellow Batchmates as siblings in a sense.
6. Chiyo likes to wear a "Too Cool For School" shirt so that should tell you plenty about her feelings about school in general, but she mainly associates the School with unethical experiments that have given her a fear of needles, seeing Batchmates get "liquidated" for underperformance, and being forced to fit a mold on pain of death.
A lot of the time they had to fight one another and Chiyo hated it, so a lot of the time she'd hide behind her barriers until her opponent just got too tired to fight beating themselves against it.
7. I guess I'll talk more teenagerhood here but Chiyo didn't really have friends apart from Dactyl (The Batchmates she escaped with she parted ways with for more than a decade because together they were simply too juicy a target to ignore) until relatively recently because the School has shown no problems eliminating people to get to her and it already happened before, as was the case with a couple that briefly took her in.
8. Chiyo likes Pokémon, yes. Apart from Dactyl she has Ceres (Clefairy), Beremices (Tandemaus), and Pisaster (Staryu), though she's only expanded her team within the last couple years.
9. Pokémon generally like her and she gets along fine with them.
10. Chiyo likes kids, and they generally like her, though her line of work means she only rarely directly interacts with them. She's interested in having kids, whether ones she birthed or adopted, but being a fugitive from the School isn't the life she'd want to give any child of hers, so she's very fastidious with birth control (And not just because she's been a sex worker) and doesn't plan on having any while the School is still a factor.
Of course, unbeknownst to her as of this writing, the School managed to acquire a damaged template of hers and combined it with at least one other primary template to make the Freshman Class Iridium, so she's effectively got one daughter she has no idea about.
Louise, a teenage Templar she defeated who ended up defecting after Chiyo spared her, thinks of her in a sort of elder sister/parental way that Chiyo reciprocates, but it's nothing formal.
She'd be a pretty good mom overall I feel, even if I'm not sure if she thinks she'd be a good parent despite her aforementioned maternal desires, her main focus would be on guiding her kid(s) into becoming their best selves without trying to strongarm them into just being mini-Chiyos. (Chiyo would definitely find a similarity between the School's treatment of its experiments and more authoritarian parenting styles so she'd try to avoid that as much as possible) Not so hands on as to stifle growth, but not so hands off for them to basically suffer from parental neglect.
And of course, she wouldn't be doing it alone.
