What I like about s2 is that, as of now, it’s Aziraphale who’s getting all the attention for his looks, and I’m living for it. Crowley stole the (fashion) show in s1 with all his looks through the centuries, but this season Aziraphale is coming back with a vengeance and being cuter and handsomer than ever.

I can’t believe that the “a kiss can’t solve it all magically”, the theme that seemed linked to Maggie and Nina’s story, was actually just foreshadowing for Crowley and Aziraphale. It’s been 3 days and I still think about it.

Reminds me of when I was 13 and my mom’s old car got a Laura Pausini cd stuck in its cd player for months: whenever she wanted to listen to some music, that was the only option available. It was also my prized possession, the only authentic cd that I had of that singer: needless to say, I was very jealous and wanted to keep track of it, so everyone got to suffer through the best hits of Laura Pausini anytime we drove for more than 10 minutes anywhere. In the end everyone got sick of Laura belting ‘ho l’inquietudiiinee di viveeereee’ and I don’t know how but my father unstuck the cd one fateful evening, and returned to me a very broken cd lmao

I just thought about how Shax was probably still salty because Crowley and Aziraphale fooled Furfur 90 years prior, to the point where she felt the need to hitchhike her way into the Bentley just to talk about poor Furfur, her esteemed work fling colleague, and his career frustrations. She wasn't just trying to help her own career with the attack at the bookshop, she was also trying to sort of vindicate Furfur's fiasco with the nazi zombies. Yes, they made a pact, but why would two demons who distrust all demons make an arrangement, if there wasn't at least something between them. And nothing, the end where they fly back to hell while making middle aged, flirty growling noises at each other sent me flying lmao. Best background couple of the whole series imo.

In this next installment of "babbel complains about italian translations", I'd like to introduce you to what feels like the 1039th eng-to-ita ace erasure! When in ep 7 Rosie says "You're an ace in the hole" to Alastor, implying he's ace, in the italian transl. they literally erased that part and did something like "Isn't she a little bit too young for you? Oh who am I kidding, you've still got enough energy to do a hole-in-one!", implying he's an old pervert but still sexually active... Uh. I get that maybe they didn't get the ace joke, but weren't the translators equipped with instructions or character's sheets so they didn't get anything wrong? I feel like whenever some small ace rep manages to make it on screen, it inevitably gets fully erased in the italian dub. It's a huge pity because the italian dub for hazbin hotel has been pretty good too, the voice actors did a tremendous job!

The weirdest thing I've see today is probably people arguing if the ox ribs scene thingy is sexual or not, going as far as to ask the author about it (that he actually chose to respond to that is weird per se lmao I'm sure in 10000 asks something more interesting could have been found, surely? What a time line to be alive). Like, people, dudes: who cares? I see people using their asexuality to feel holier than thou and saying people who interpreted it as a sexual metaphor are creeps (as a demi, can I say this stance is annoying? You're not a saint just because you don't like sex. Asexuality is not radical Christianity ffs). I see people saying that who doesn't see it as sexual is a dumbass and blind as a bat: again, let people have their ideas??? Stop bothering the author with these things??? Please, I beg of you, I'm this close to blocking him because this is like the 4th ask about sex or whatever that graces my dash just today and there's so much IInd hand embarrassment I can take.

First time in my whole life where one of my not canon ships actually becomes canon: I don’t know what to do with this information. I don’t know the protocol. Yes usually these ships are (heavily) hinted by the story, but they never actually become canon.  And now you’re telling me a whole cast & crew worked hard to give us on of the most romantic, shippy, fanservic-y but in a good way seasons I’ve ever witnessed for ANY pairing. This is not just “yeah we made this canon here’s a couple of cute scenes amidst a bigger plot”, this is literally “HERE have this whole pie of ship content, best cake you’ve ever seen, baked solely for you, enjoy!”.

My top 10 gomens fics

I decided to do this too, so here’s my fav fics from 2023 (but probably also 2022, this post has been in the drafts for a loong time), so here we are:

In mixed company, or the corporate retreat of Heaven and Hell (M) by Theoldaquarian

Probably my favorite fanfic ever: it’s not just the getting together story that is fun and entertaining to read, but it’s the world building surrounding them that almost feels like I’m reading the book all over again. From the inner workings of Heaven and Hell to the various secondary characters, it felt like I was reading a spin off written by the authors (and now that s2 is out and the two Ineffable Dumbasses kissed, even more so).

A few more rescues (T) by poetic_nonsense

I am a big fan of anything that sees these two dorks navigating history with all their quirks and problems and pining. This story is one of the best I’ve read on the theme, it offers some more rescues courtesy of Dashing Hero Crowley, with Swooning Maiden Aziraphale (mostly) grudgingly participating. It’s super soft, pine-y and also very funny.  Time Flies (When You're Having Fun) (E) by Mussimm

This is very much like a bodice ripper but with much better writing. The mistery is not the centre of the narrative, it’s not just “how will Azira stop the time loop”, but how he and Crowley will meet every time, how things change in slightly different scenarios, but in all of them they’re just so soft for each other. 

A Winding Path (T) by ZehWulf

The cutest retelling of Red Riding Hood. Amazing atmosphere, world building and interactions between all the characters. You can read the relationship between Azi and Crow how you want, friendship or more, it’s perfect whichever way you spin it. It’s eerie and soft at the same time, the fairytale tone is still very much present and it’s not disney-an in the slightest, it’s more like an old-fashioned grimm tales. 

Temptation (E) by TawnyOwl95

Vampire fic which veered from what I expected and I was so happy with it. Funny and with just the right dose of adventure and pining. 

The rose and the serpent (T) by Atalan

Probably one of my favourite fics ever. It has fairytale elements to the nines, but also a strong plot, splendid side characters and a love story that’s so soft and beautiful. 

The rose thief and the Priest (T) by Improbabledreams900

This wins the cake for random-est plot ever, but it’s super soft and a nice love story over all, Aziraphale is a little shit and I loved him for it, Crowley is your usual “wiley” mess. They sort it out beautifully in the end.

In the house we remain (M) by Commodorecliche

I’m not a fan of romances between a ghost and a living person but this was written in such a convincing, realistic, intriguing way that I was hooked from start to finish. It doesn’t shy away from the dark themes/gore-y details that such a love story entails and I can’t recommend it more.

So You Need To Get Into A.Z. Fell & Co.; Now What? (A Guide For Unfortunate Bookworms) (G) by C4llistrad

I love outsider pov’s anything. Fics like this one, where we get to see our fav characters through the eyes of strangers (who could as well be us), and we piece together bits of information here and there. It’s super fun. 

The Penthouse (G) by Worseomens

Another outsider pov, where we see the friendship between Crowley and one of his neighbors. Super funny.
