Sometimes I wish I could shout back across time to Baby Bee, who had it rough, and tell her, “Hey, get this: right now, the employees at my favorite bookstore know me by my voice, they recognize my phone number, and they have a little spot on a shelf where they put all the books I order; I buy way too many fountain pens and pretty tea cups and I have enough money to buy almost all the yarn and books I want. I make good small meals, I make my own bread, I make my parents laugh every day, and I have a cat who sleeps on my feet at night. It won’t get easier but I feel safe and sometimes I’m even happy. It balances out.”

i remember once being like 7 at a small ass town baseball game and i st arted playing around w some boys and i called one of them a son of a bitch bc he said something mean to me and he wanted to tattle on me so i wrestled him to the fucking ground and pinned him down and told him that if he tattled on me id throw him over the fence to the graveyard right next door and let the ghosts eat him while i watched and the other two boys were terrified of this possibility and thus were trying to tell him it was so not worth it to tattle on me

@hosannan sent:
"Oh! Micaiah, it's so nice to see you again!" Recognition gave way to light-hearted comfort, as the light in Nanna's eyes danced. From the elegant updo to the decadent, embroidered white dress she sported, Nanna gasped in awe. "Oh you're breathtaking. Look at you...!"
"I've been meaning to give this to you, since your strategic prowess equals your beauty." Nanna held out a feather clip, in a similar fashion to her own. "It's special; try pulling it out of its sheath."
Once pulled, the feather revealed an ink pen end, that could be used to scrawl on future plans. "I made it myself, thinking back to our play battles." Her eyes crinkled, sentimentally. "My, what a leader you will be."
Micaiah had been certain she could handle the Ethereal Ball having attended (near) twice before but the enchanted venue where they now found themselves proved to be more overwhelming than it had first seemed when first viewed through starry eyes.
Still, overwhleming as it may be it certainly seems good practice, for her ability to adapt if nothing else; and the fact that Pelleas, Leonardo, Edward and the faces of the others she's come to love stay with her still is certainly enough to ground her through the night at least.
"Nanna!" Micaiah returns the Princess of Nordion's greeting just as brightly. "I'm overjoyed to see you as well, and oh -- to hear such a thing from you, surely I must be doing something right! Your words mean much."
Never one for just words, however, Nanna then presents her with a stunning gift. Micaiah holds it gently extended in front of her as Nanna explains its components and laguhs in delight.
"Why, this is marvelous! You must let me return the favor some time, after all our battle was also a delight." Her soft eyes flash for a moment, for they have both seen their fair share of real battles too; but here at an academy where camaraderie is formed rather than borders Micaiah can at least be grateful they have both made it this far.
"In the mean time," Micaiah says, putting the feather behind her ear so she might free both hands to play with her braid; a moment later, two of flower hair pins are held out to Nanna, "would you take one of these? They are hair pins in the shape of sweet alyssum and since coming here, they smell like the blooms too! Isn't that curious?"
