Okay so looking at the facts, Astarion says he was “one of Cazador’s first” spawn, which makes sense considering it was ~200 years prior, which puts this at 1294 for his turning. However he says “one of” which implies he wasn’t the very first, meaning one of his siblings was before him.
Through the game, we can rule out a few of his siblings as being first. Leon canonically has to be the last, as I doubt that Cazador brought another spawn into the mix during the last 10~ years. Leon has a human child, that he had prior to vampirism, and with both the favorite spawn ledger, and Victoria’s appearance, we can assume she’s likely between 8-10 in that general range. The favorite spawn ledger goes for (six) years, with Leon being 5/6, and Violet taking one year. This can easily imply he has only been a spawn for six years, and also says that given Victoria’s appearance, she was probably only 2-4 when brought to Cazador’s palace, but that’s a story for another time.
Pale Petra’s tells Dalyria in the inn that it’s been “a hundred years of eating rats”, so he was probably turned in the late 1300s, judging by this. Dalyria on the other hand was a physician to the Parliament of Baldur’s Gate, and given that the medical group she speaks of wasn’t founded until the early-ish 1400s, it’s likely that she was found during this time period.
This leaves three: Yousen, Violet, and Aurelia. Now I highly, highly doubt that Yousen was the first of the spawn. A gnome is an odd choice for a vampire spawn in the first place, so he likely wasn’t the first. This would leave Violet and Aurelia, although given one of my previous posts about Violet (found here), Violet likely wasn’t the first—the shadow curse was founded in the past hundred years if I’m not mistaken, and considering the evidence seems to lead her here, she was probably around the same time as Petra’s, perhaps a bit before.
This leaves Aurelia as the first spawn, which makes sense to me. She seems the most anxious, the most scared. She’s the only one who truly, truly begs you for help if you talk to her once Cazador is gone, and centuries of trauma would do that to anyone. Therefore, my ranking is as follows, in order:
-Aurelia
-Astarion
-Yousen
-Violet
-Pale Petras
-Dalyria
-Leon
I know their ages are different, but timeline wise this puts Leon as the youngest, and Aurelia as the oldest—which it doesn’t mean anything, but it’s interesting to think this, considering they’re the original two who are sent after Astarion at the Elfsong Tavern.
As always, this is completely in theory! Only a few of them have concrete evidence, so let me know if I’m missing anything—and feel free to use this for writing or lore as you see fit!

Got hit with more thoughts about spawns and Cazador...
...and naturally, I'm posting it here because I'm no longer a functional human being.
I remember the lingering question that Astarion seemingly being only one of the spawns using seduction to lure victims in. At least, there is no menition of other’s doing so, except for Petras. So, why is that? Why Astarion was the only one?
In my opinion, it stems from Cazador’s very particular choice of victims. In all these years, he acquired only seven spawns (except for the thousands of Turned nobody knew about), and almost all of them used to be accomplished or talented people:
- Violet, a beloved and talented songbird from Reithwin;
- Dalyria, a respected doctor working in the Parliament;
- Leon, a sorcerer (a spell modifiaction he came up with shows how good he is at his magic);
- Astarion, a magistrate with a promising future, centuries of life ahead of him, and a beauty worthy of a thousand paintings.
Following this tendency, we can assume that Yousen, Aurelia, and Petras also were similarly talented or good at something enough to attract Cazador’s attention and make him envious.
The bastard thinks very highly of himself. He calls himself the most intelligent and beautiful creature out there, and spends hours writing letters to other vampire lords, trying to convince them of his grandeur. He attempts to inflate his ego, making it finally big enough to overcompensate for his miserable inferiority complex, in any way he can: so, whenever he spies someone with a talent or potential, someone who might be better than him at anything, he snuffs them away, adds to his collection, and then breaks them over and over, making them believe that they’re nothing. He is the father who gives them purpose; they are his spawn who owe him everything; and everything they have belongs to him.
And maybe, aside from tortures, and humiliation, and gaslighting, and forcing “siblings” to hurt each other, he came up with one more way to break them - when he forces them to hunt, he forces them to use everything that made them special, loved, respected, and admired for the most gruesome things.
- Violet, previously a talented singer whose voice was fondly remembered up to Reithwin’s fall, using her voice to catch attention; using her image and charm to lure people into the palace to their death.
- Dalyria, picking her victims around apothecaries and temples that responded to the people's suffering by closing doors in their faces, seeking out refugees and ailing citizens low on coin, offering to help them, kindly inviting them to “her place” (if we take Karlach’s family as an example, finding a healer who would agree to help a less-than-wealthy family is quite a problem at the city).
- Leon, using his talents and magic to nab people from the street, to drag them to Cazador without a fight while knowing that he will never be able to use the same power against the bastard himself.
- Astarion, a previously sophisticated, proud, and beautiful elf, stripped of his dignity and pride, using his body to either seduce poor young and inexperienced souls (fulfilling their image of an ethereal and caring lover) or let himself be pawed at by drunkards and brothel-goers.
I don’t think any of Cazador’s choices were accidental. I don't think he had to roam the streets at night, looking for potential candidates; that he ever Turned any of them by chance.
They all caught his eye at some point, became an object of his obsession, and then fell victim to a scenario where they were confronted by a promise of salvation - and each time, it made Cazador giddy with excitement and a sense of self-importance. He took them away from the world because he could. He will twist and shape them to his whim because he can. And then, he will take everything from them, reducing them to miserable wretches because this is who they should be, compared to him.
They will belong under his heel, scared, helpless, and obedient, worshipping him and fearing him. Forever.

This is something I've thought about off and on for a while now.
How do y'all think Astarion's spawn siblings would react upon finding out he actually has a real, genuine lover? I know we have very little to go off of, so answers are definitely going to vary, but I wanna hear 'em regardless.
Idk why but I feel like half would go, "Wait, he actually pulled a partner?? How?" bc they just know him as that smart-mouthed asshole they share a room with. They're just surprised that the guy they know to be a real jerk somehow got someone even when not hiding his true colors.
And the other half who know him better would be like, "Oh, that's great! I'm glad Astarion found someone."
Edit: Adding some more specifics.
I think Petras and Yousen would be in the 'WTF" camp. Petras bc it's clear he and Astarion don't get along and even Astarion says he could've been better to Petras. I imagine he all but screamed, "You managed to pull that?!" while pointing at Tav. Yousen bc he's a dwarf and we know how Astarion treats Dwarves. Edit Edit: I mixed up gnomes and dwarves. I still think he treated Yousen like shit bc he still reminded him of a gnome.
Dalyria and Aurelia I feel like would be happy for him. Dal bc she does seem to care for Astarion to some extent (and likely for her other spawn siblings, too). Aurelia I have little justification for other than I like to think of her as the oldest, so seeing him find someone even after all the pain and torture gives her hope for herself. She's also glad to see him happy bc she's likely witnesses some of his worst moments (while experiencing them herself, too).
Violet and Leon are the oddballs I'm unsure of. Violet gives me mischievous younger sibling vibes, tho, so perhaps she's happy but absolutely not above exaggerating her surprise to get under his skin. Leon I feel hasn't spent a lot of time with him or the other spawn, so maybe he's just kinda like "cool idc". It sounds like he only spent maybe a year in the spawn bunks before going back to the favored room. Or perhaps him only getting a brief taste led to him having a negative opinion bc he never got to know Astarion.
Anyway, those are my thoughts and reasons.

Of Astarion's vampire siblings, while several of them are such as Leon's situation, I do find Dalyria especially interesting.
Her being the very fearful and meek drow woman -
Tumblr media
Dalyria here is actually upset that Astarion is back, lamenting that he was free. She also displays the most care for her siblings of them all - such as when Petras is dragged into the sunlight by Astarion, not only does she beg Astarion not to but she gives up all the secrets she knows of Cazador's ritual so he lets their brother go. Bear in mind we literally just saw her absolutely terrified of even being the tiniest of bits late for Cazador - and here she is giving away his very closely held secrets.
The compassion seems to be general too. She, is upset if the other jailed vampire spawn are left trapped or killed.
I think in a very complicated way she is likely the sibling Astarion had the “best-ish” relationship with? Even when he's being sincere talking to her post ritual, she is still only ever "Dal" instead of Dalyria, the only one nicknamed. So a lot of potential for interesting interaction there.
You can also find out more canonically about her if you find and read her diary! She was apparently a doctor before - specifically of the high rank of Physician General of Baldur's Gate parliament. Notably, she was "Doctor Dalyria" then apparently - so she doesn't seem to claim any last name/family, whatever that may mean for the drow . Never even mind the implications behind a drow getting to such a high rank in a surface city for saving lives.
The diary also shows that Dalyria views vampirism itself as a disease. One that she was determined to cure, not wanting to “submit” to her “lowly status”. This did lead to her doing something horrible - namely she somehow overcame her compulsion and bit Leon's young "pureblooded" (?) daughter - hypothesising that replacing vampire blood with young/healthy would work....but sorcerer Leon had laid a necrotic trap to protect Victoria...and Cazador himself discovered the scene. He took Dalyria away and killed the child himself.
I will be honest, it's completely heinous with Victoria...though I do suspect given the aforementioned care, along with her not wanting even strangers to stay trapped in dungeons, that Dalyria intended to get help for the others too if her plan to get free had worked.

Astarion: Do you have an item of incalculable monetary value?
Wyll: No. Why?
——- EARLIER ——-
Dalyria: No!
Dalyria: Your health insurance doesn’t cover removing your cranium to pour acid in your brain!
Dalyria: Speaking of which…why?
——- EVEN EARLIER ——-
Astarion: *enters a room thinking it was empty*
Aurelia: *resting her head on Abdirak’s lap, flinching every so often, her horns poking him in places* 😌
Abdirak: *combing her hair and pulling on her hair harshly to unknot knots* 😌
Abdirak: *wearing a decent Cazador cosplay*
Astarion: *slowly exiting the room, with a sudden urge to pour acid in his own brain*

Was anyone going to tell me that Dalyria will beg for Astarion not to ascend during the ritual if you play Astarion Origin? Or was I supposed to find this out at 1am for myself?

One of Astarion's most interesting scenes to me is the one in the flop house where we meet Dalyria and Petras. So, obviously, I felt the need to analyze it.
Astarion's behaviour switches the very moment he recognises his siblings. He has been snappy and theatrical before, but this now feels different. More raw. His posture changes, he bends forward in a pose like he's ready to attack. The moment he sees them, he enters fight mode.
And indeed, he does attack. He immediately goes for Petras, aiming for the weak spots he knows, his intelligence. It's bite or be bitten. If he doesn't do it (a choice you can make in his origin run for example) Petras does just the same, insulting Astarion using his known flaws: his arrogance, his egoism, claiming Astarion is all talk. This tells so much about Astarions life with them.
Dalyria is a bit calmer, she seems to care about both of them, at least enough that she doesn't want to see either of them killed. Dalyria does believe Cazador's claim of freeing them at least on surface level. She can be convinced to trust Astarion when he says he'll free them. She wants to be free. Asking why Astarion would come back if he was free, there is a certain longing in her voice. She's also the one telling Astarion about the ritual place, hoping Astarion might actually be able to free them, or at least not kill Petras.
Still the aggression in the room is not only between Astarion and Petras. Astarion also snaps at Dalyria when she's barely said anything. "That's not a way to welcome back a brother, Dal." The three of them are like dogs in the kennels of a dog fighting ring, barking at the sight of each other. Trained to compete and not giving each other an inch. You can imagine what it must have been like sharing one bedroom.
Then Astarion does his theatrical "Didn't you miss me?" Did they? Probably as much as Astarion pities them. A bit, because they've known each other for so long, but not enough to go out of their way. Just after saying he pities them, Astarion dreams about completing the ritual (which includes sacrificing them). Mostly I see the "Didn't you miss me" as Astarion wanting to make a confident first impression on them. Although it's too late, because his first instinct was to pull up his usual defences when interacting with his siblings: snapping at them.
And then Astarion actually gets physically aggressive and burns Petras. This is new. Petras didn't expect this. He says "What the hells happened to you, Astarion?" In combination with the other spawn scene when they call Astarion the runt, that never put up a fight, this paints a clear picture: Astarion has never been physically aggressive during his time with Cazador. Probably because he didn't have the means. He was simply too weak, being tortured more than any of the others. Petras talks about eating rats and dogs, Astarion got rats and bugs (he says that when talking about the bite with Tav). Also of course being broken into submission by being sealed into the tomb for the one time he didn't obey. (Worthy to mention that even then Astarion did not fight, he ran.)
Now that Astarion has some power for the first time, he uses it. And holy damn can I understand why he wants more. How good it must feel to be able to defend himself with more than words for the first time. This bit of power makes him say "I am not afraid of anything anymore."
It's enough for him to say "I am going to stop Cazador." A thing none of the spawn expects of him. Astarion would never rebel against the master. Cazador himself doesn't believe it until his last moment. They were all wrong about Astarion. Cazador indeed never broke him.
Also, pay attention to the leaning forward pose. Astarion does that on multiple occasions. It's his "my instinct screams to fight and defend myself"-pose.
(I am not entirely sure if "do not slouch before me" is also referring the same pose, or if it's more of an instinct to bow or cower. But that's for another day.)
