Five Years

A really late anniversary drawing for my love DraaGul ! We hit five years on July 17th and I've been working on this since around the 12th. I was nearly 2 weeks late upon finishing it but it's finally done, thank god.

I'm proud of it overall, though. I really love the paws <3

Threa - Fireburst

Drawing of a Blazkul in my headworld Threa, which you can read about in my journal here in my journal or on its own website!

Blazkul are a race of fire dragons known for their specialization in fire. While Aezkul, a sister species, can breathe fire, only the Blazkul can breathe it in such heat and amounts. They inhabit the scorching deserts around the equator of the world and provide a living barrier preventing anything from moving between the northern and southern halves of the main continent of Threa.

Commission - Storming the City

Commission for Sabre94 on Discord (not sure their other accounts) of their Blazkul character, Vengeance, and his rider, Irai the Trezlin, owned by Windridres! Both exist in the world of Threa (read about it here!) There's also an unarmored version of this drawing here :)

I love getting commissions set in my own world; it just gives me some reason to draw the creatures from it and flesh it out more.

Here you see the Sokan Empire storming a city, likely of the Gren, using their Blazkul to bash down the front gates and set the city aflame. Vengeance is the only Blazkul mount the Sokans own and is extremely valuable due to his fire breath, restricted to only two kinds of dragon, both of which are near impossible to steal eggs of. Irai was the lucky Trezlin who imprinted on Vengeance and the two fight side-by-side as the Arius (leader) in their mounted group, designated by the red marks on their shoulders.

I'm not open for commissions just yet - check back in early May - and I'm just finishing up some owed art I had promised people prior to reopening. :)

For someone, this picture is long awaited. I can't tell you how long ago I started this picture, but it had to be a couple months, at least... Anyway, this is DraaGul's character Trikoz Trek Emberspike of the Blazkul. Tending to him are select Blazlin who work in the roman-inspired baths to clean all the sand out of his scales and, otherwise, pamper him. Gotta say I really do love how this came out, in the end. I got frustrated with it beyond belief at a few points, but I find it worth it. I especially like how the water came out after all my hopeless fiddling A lot of building and environment practice in this. Perspective and sizing, as well. I actually 3D modeled this entire building in Google Sketchup to get an idea of how to draw it. You wouldn't believe how much it helped! The desert outside of that door I made almost by accident, too; forgot to adjust a brush's hardness but I liked how the accidental result was and kept it. Also I adore gradient maps + soft light. Just absolutely adore them.
