Welcome to Blindspot Rewatch 2024!
We started in March 2021, and somehow managed to keep the momentum more or less going from seasons 1-4. Now we only have 11 episodes left, so if we fit in a couple of 2- or 3-week breaks, we should be done by late April/early May.
People who are following me who want to opt out of the weekly Blindspot spam should probably blacklist the tags #blindspot and #blindspot rewatch 2024 - and then start watching Blindspot, because it's great. ❤

Ok, I wasn´t going to do this again this year but then I checked my followers count and very much to my amusement, I noticed that I have exactly double than last year!?? 2200 followers! what were the odds??! So of course i have to celebrate this with you all!! 🥳

Sorry I'm a little late to the rewatch party of season 2, but you know how life is. 🙈 We are at 2×04 this week, right? I will want to catch up this week. Season 2 was my start with the whole series were I was really into it. Oh all the old feelings toward season 2. Ep. 2x01 is one of my alltime favourites, the fight between Kurt and Jane at the hotel is epic with all this built-up tensions and feelings that are breaking open. As I see you were really busy in posting the last weeks so I have a lot to read. ❤

Just finished season 2 (not a rewatch, watching for the first time so don’t spoil me please).
Is Mary Stuart Masterson just destined to play characters coded as Southen Lesbians for the rest of her life?
I realized I have a major thing for Roman. I thought maybe it was the actor, but after looking at some non-Roman pics of him, I realized it’s something about this particular haircut, facial hair, build, and scar that it really doing it for me.
Can’t wait to find out why she left.

Abled culture teaches abled people to be entitled. You are entitled to never have to learn anything about disability and ableism. You are entitled to get to move through the world, and through our movements, with little-to-no understanding or political analysis about disability, even as you pontificate about every other system of oppression and violence. Abled culture in our movements mean that we will say, “we must center those who are most impacted,” all day every day, but then not include disabled, especially those who are high risk, in the center during a global pandemic. Abled entitlement means that you will still continue to plan your vacation abroad, even amidst the Delta surge; you will still post pictures from your giant family holiday gathering amidst the Omicron surge.
You are not entitled to our deaths. You are not entitled to the deaths of our loved ones in the name of capital, privilege and “normal.” You are not entitled to our silence about our pain and suffering and the wet tar grief that envelops us. You are not entitled to our fear and terror at the worsening conditions and chaos of this pandemic, wondering if we will ever be able to safely leave our homes again.

The worst thing about chronic illness is the way you follow all the good self care advice, and your body still goes 'nope'.
Get a decent night's sleep? Wake up feeling completely unrested!
Eat the nutritious, balanced diet? Have your body completely reject it, so that you absorb next to none of those nutrients, and end up reaching for a giant pouch of Skittles for energy, because it's better than nothing!
Exercise? Get hit with post-exertional malaise so you can barely get out of bed for the next two days! (Ditto for showering.)
And then you tell people that you've tried doing the healthy things, and they don't work on you...and people act sceptical, like you're just not trying hard enough. Like you don't want to be well. But when the trying hard leads to nothing but your body giving you a giant 'screw you', it's easier and more effective to not even bother.

Some commentary of this lovely moment:
This is my favorite non-jeller moment of the episode. Not only it’s the start of Patterson’s nerdy analogies to explain things, it’s just so... gentle.
I recently read an interview where Jaimie said how proud she was to be on a show where female empowerment is such a big theme, and looking back, I love that this was a part of that. It’s not just that Jane is a badass, or that there’s 3 women in a team of 5 and they’re all awesome on their own, but stuff like this, where Patterson is there for Jane in such a supportive, soft way.
Both Patterson and Kurt are explaining the same thing; that Jane being a part of the team is not gonna happen overnight. But, even knowing that Kurt was upset when he tried to explain back at the car park (and he ended up revealing more of his inner turmoil than he meant to), his aggressive approach just doesn’t sit right with Jane. She obeyed, but she still felt hurt and like it was unfair.
The “it’s my way or the highway”, team boss or not, would never work with someone as stubborn as Jane (and really, it doesn’t work on Kurt either).
But Patterson explains things in this way that manages to be objective, out of the box thinking and convincing at the same time. She’s not condescending, she shows empathy, yet she’s still logical. And while Jane still doesn’t quite like the fact that she’s gonna have to be patient, she understands, she feels seen by her kindness.
They just connect and UNGH. Feels.
(Also, the fact that Patterson felt awkward at first, having Jane stare at her own tattoos on the screen? And made her look away, I don’t know, it feels like such a big sis move, like she’s shielding her somehow. So many little details about this scene ♥)
