Review: Again My Life

Year: 2022 Country: Korea Platform: Viki

Again My Life is an enjoyable enough drama if you love Lee Jun Ki, as that is most – if not all – it has going for it. His commitment to his roles is always engaging and his action scenes are always a treat. Those two things – almost exclusively – were what got me through to the end.

It may be that the show suffers due to the fairly recent proximity of Lawless Layer which – thematically – covers much the same ground to better effect. To his credit, Jun Ki does differentiate between Lawless Lawyer’s Bong Sang Pil and Hui Wu in Again My Life. Here, however, all elements are less compelling. The writing never rises above the most lack-luster, and all the actors are serviceable but largely unmemorable, never given enough room or direction to become more than caricatures serving the plot. Which is sad, because there was plenty of potential.

The premise of the show was fascinating as well: a man gets a chance to re-live his life starting back at his senior year of high school, but with all the memories of his future life. Unfortunately, this gimmick is never more than that as we go episodes with that having little to no relevance or impact.

The show forgoes any but the most superficial character work to focus on a revenge/take down/anti-corruption plot which is no where near intelligent or sharp enough to carry the whole show. What could have been a solid and lovable ensemble piece with an interesting variety of characters is instead a meandering muddle of mediocrity focused and uninteresting villains and banal political machinations.

The actions scenes were – as expected – fantastic but, like Hui Wu’s prescience, was under-utilized; his martial arts skills were largely irrelevant. Underutilization could be the tagline of the entire show. It had a solid handful of what could have been amazing elements if brought to the fore to give us an interesting and compelling show. Instead we get a rehash of an over-used plot providing nothing innovative or novel.

Its a way to pass 16 hours made enjoyable if your a fan of the actors but that’s about it. It took me forever to even finish as I kept forgetting about it but I did, eventually, make it to the end.

Lawless Lawyer - 6/10

This drama was very mid. I liked the overall story because I love a good takedown of corrupt and powerful people. And ofc Lee Joon-ji was super hot (ESPECIALLY when the show learned into the character’s gangster past and gave him cool fight scenes) and charming as the male lead, Bong Sang-pil. But I feel like the show stumbled when it came to building up the cast of characters around the protagonists. They very much felt like caricatures whereas the cast of characters surrounding the antagonists were way more compelling and felt real as characters.

It’s not the worst thing, but it holds the show back from becoming truly great. Another thing that dragged the show down? The romance. lol. It just felt forced and unnecessary. It added nothing to the show. The show could have been the exact same even if the relationship between the male and female lead was purely platonic. Plus like... lol W H Y did she find out that he’d basically been stalking her for years and then immediately jump into bed with him? Like... WHAT????

But like in spite of that, the central story of the show is quite entertaining. Lots of mind games and strategies and moving parts all to try to take down a very wealthy and powerful corrupt judge. It’s fun to watch Sang-pil’s plans unfold and to watch Judge Cha Moon-sook try to outmaneuver him and throw basically everyone under the bus so that she can secure more power for herself. lol She’s shameless and ngl, I kind of love her for it?

Weirdly, I think my favorite character ended up being the prosecutor that Sang-pil brings to KiSeong from Seoul. Prosecutor Cheon Seung-beom is not a flashy character at all, but lmao I just kind of ended up loving him and his determination to play by the rules and use the law to defeat corruption? Plus I like that while he comes to respect Sang-pil, he’s not charmed by him, you know? lol idk! I just enjoyed him!

So you know, this drama wasn’t terrible and it wasn’t a waste of time, but it felt like it dragged at parts and the various law firm employees ended up being kind of grating cartoonish figures vs actually interesting characters.

Hello Everyone!!!...so as you can see i had this weird Lovely dream yesterday and i can't just forget it it was lovely tho nothing special happened....so i want to share it with you guys haha🙈🏃🏻‍♀️

So the dream started in a dark Court hall it was similar to the Law kdramas but it was really dark and there was that table were the Accused and the Lawyer sit but it was very long like about 4 lawyers including the Accused can Sit on it ...so i was sitting on that Table as a Lawyer Yay my kdrama dream to become a lawyer became true

Of course i wasn't the only lawyer who was sitting there, there was another Lawyer sitting on the right side , on the left side the Accused was sitting ,she was and middle aged women , I don't really remember her face but i was able to feel her Aura next to me. Guess who's the other lawyer 🙂? It was Lee JoonGi ....like okay I'm used to see my oppas in my dreama alot recently but the most shocking thing was ...I WAS HIS WIFE!!! We were a couple of married lawyers....OMG. And since we got Married he didn't really let me to take many Court cases , in order to not get tired, but somehow there was that serious case were he overworked himself and i decided to give him a hand and be his Lawyer partner to relieve the burden of him . He so Caring and cute i can't stand it ㅠㅠ , Anyways the Trial had ended and we went back to our house, well it wasn't our house, it was this foreign Agashi's ( Young lady) house who we work for her and her Family as Lawyers and Bodyguards. So this agashi was born with a weak body and we must protect her whenever we don't have court cases, i guess that's why my joongi didn't want me to take alot of cases,

So one day, Joongi had a different trial that he has to go for it alone, and as his beloved wife i walked with him until he reached his car and i suddenly noticed the agashi running out of the house as of she wants to go somewhere, as she was running, i tried to go after her to stop her , when she stopped in the middle of the road and a giant bus crashed into her , i was too shocked to process what happened and i fell on the floor, Joongi was holding me tight and when i finally came back to reality i got up with my husband's help and run to the agashi who was laying in a lake of blood in the middle of the road, Joongi asked me to immediately call the ambulance but for some reason i got to stupid and i didn't know how to use my smartphone, my hands we so Shakey and i was scared, and Joongi suddenly took the phone of me and he called the ambulance, and i don't remember what happened later...🙂🏃🏻‍♀️
