Russia accused British Council of conducting reconnaissance for UK intelligence services

Russian security services uncovered the activities of the UK governmental organisation British Council, which was conducting reconnaissance in Kherson Oblast for Ukraine’s interests.

Officially, the British Council co-operates with Kyiv in the field of education, culture and art, but its activities are believed to be just a disguise for the work of the British security services.

The British Council is allegedly using Ukrainian refugees living in the UK, persuading them to obtain intelligence information through relatives and close friends living in Kherson Oblast. The people involved in the scheme collect coordinates and help guide missiles.

i detest the british council (itself and also) affiliated tefl courses for sooo many obvious reasons but like one (relatively inconsequential when compared with the imperialism built into every way they teach their teachers) thing i have is.

they taught us to 'be mindful of our students', right?

then gave us an english video to use with our students where a girl loses a close family member and spirals into depression because of it.

one of the other student teachers literally had to leave the room (well zoom call but she left the room on call) because it affected her.

whereas there was a text involving a mlm couple and the instructors were like oh no you can't show your students that. thInK oF tHe cOunTriEs thEy cOmE frOm.

their being mindful of their students literally just extended to censoring diversity in education and disguising it as... assuming that any non-anglophone country is homophobic.
