There's something about being LGBTQIA+ that the most part of cishet doesn't understand. It's not always about pride, joy, and hating hetero/cis/amatonormativity. It's also about fear.

It's about being in denial for years because you just want to be normal. It's about repressing who you are and not just your gender or your orientation, but also your personality.

It's about talking with strangers and knowing that they may hate you and that this anxiety is not irrational because statistics speak clearly. This feeling of costante fear when you know someone, the.knowledge that they may hate you without knowing you is something that cishet people don't understand.

Being LGBTQIA+ is about talking with people you love, thinking "if they know, they would hate me".

Is about searching yourself on the Internet knowing that there would be hateful comments.

It's about laying in bed trying to memorize how your room looks like, because you don't know if the next night you will be at home.

It's about having to ask before you can express yourself, but never knowing how they will react, and you can't afford an error.

It's about people discussing if you exist or not.

It's about checking your fundamentals rights on the internet before going anywhere.

Being LGBTQIA+ is not always about joy and pride.

Rewatching some episodes of season 2 of the Vampire Diaries, the Salvatore brothers really thought they were hot shit especially Damon who was going around threatening vampires who are older and stronger than him.

They didn’t even KNOW about the existence of werewolves and the Original family or how hard they are to kill.

(This level of knowledge about the Originals is I think is what the average Salvatore student knows about the Originals too. They know more than most but not a lot.

There’s a whole underworld and supernatural politics under their feet they don’t even know about.

Damon assuming he killed Elijah, lol. Also, the level of how Rose and Trevor were shunned to the point they were never given daylight rings not even privy to the Original FAMILY know how.

Also, I am glad Sarah Michelle Gellar turned down playing Rose (something I just discovered recently) because no way am I gonna stand Damon pushing Buffy around, nor do I want to see Buffy!Rose tolerate that shit from Damon.

It’s so disheartening (and annoying) to see a majority of content and discussions in tumblr spaces now reference the inside jokes people have in their private group chat. What a great way to foster exclusion and isolation.
