i don't mind intox in and of itself (though i'm not into it at all), though if it leads to my other triggers (such as fantasies where intox transitions to rape) or if you're posting intox stuff where loss of consent/violation of consent is a central part of the fantasy (ie. intox from strangers at a party, or intox used by a partner to push past the sub's limits/boundaries/etc) i'd prefer if you not interact.

Forget about gritting your teeth through someone's media analysis that is egregiously incorrect. Some character/story analyses I see on here are literally just verbatim re-tellings of what happened in the story - the literal things you are supposed to understand, and the connections you're supposed to make to get what is happening - and they're phrased as crazy theories or analyses. And I just want to scream, because no, you're not weird or 'reaching' for coming to that conclusion, that is quite literally the exact thing the story was trying to tell you. You are stating blatant fact as some incredible discovery. Like that person who thought Lucy Gray Baird saying she was 'going to find Katniss' was "an accident" or maybe they were crazy. But I guess everyone's gotta start somewhere, even if you think saying 'did anyone else ever realise that Darth Vader's theme plays when Anakin does something evil???' is some mind-blowing observation. Like, shit, in a world where media literacy is so sorely lacking, quite literally witnessing a story and noticing details of it is considered analysis. Whatever.

i can't find it but ages ago (like several days) i saw a post that was about how fanfic turned into romance novels is like the tiktok of books bc they dont have any breathing space and just jump between the main plot points and it makes the book unsatisfying and im like yeah actually thats absolutely true. And imo it feels in line with the antiintellectualualism problem we have where people just wanna be spoonfed the "interesting" bits.

But also the flip side of that is when theres entire books of like,,character interaction that doesnt go anywhere and its marketed as slice of life or light romance or whatever and yall know me i LOVE some chill slow paced low stakes character exploration but even slice of life stuff needs like actual plot to hold it together or it just feels a bit like mush. some of my most favourite stories are slice of life with characters who dont do very much at all but theres enough actual development of relationships and an underlying thread of a plot (not always a conflict even) to tie it all together so its not just a loose collection of characters in a bag rattling around like marbles and going nowhere. does any of this make sense

#often i think of the novel i read a few years ago that had characters i liked and seemed to be building up to something really big and cool #but then it just kind of couldnt support its own hype and the second half of the book was just. flat. it was just nothing #it felt like the author sort of..ran out of ideas? or was just freestyling without any overarching plot or goal for the end? #it was very bizarre. a good slice of life should feel like just that- ur briefly dipped into a fully fleshed out world #but this was like. ok this is gonna sound mean but you know when youre playing dolls with a toddler #amd they're just making up big plot points as they go along because theyre literally 3 years old #like 'ok the barbies are married now. ok and now this one dies and the other one is sad. ok now they have a new car. ok heres a dinosaur.' #it felt like that. no substance no real plot no character development no goal no endgame no worldbuilding no meat on the bones #ANYWAY its just as well i couldnt find the post bc i wouldnt want to clog the tags with this #god that book bothered me. never read anything else by that author bc i just. like it wasnt good. #it was like ordering takeout from a new place that looks promising but it arrives cold soggy meanly portioned and missing half the order

I dont think i have ever mentioned nick on this blog bc hes an oc that has. Nothing to do with kurt or in common w him but looking at him next to kurt actually is so interesting to me because they're both around the same age coming from abusive homes and trying to just do what they have to to survive and theres so many interesting parallels between them

#i think they both have this. put side to side its like. they have this spectrum of how grown up a person can be in their early 20s #kurt has a very young feeling to his age and you'd believe hes younger than he is. hes immature #hes incapable of a lot of things and depends heavily on his parents and as a single child hasn't had much opportunity to learn from others #and just generally tends to feel a lot younger especially since his trauma makes him shrink down and age regress a little #whereas nick. hes spent so many years being the older brother and while he did have joe being older he still felt this huge responsibility #and he put it on himself to be the protector of his brothers esp when joe went to college so he had to grow up young #and his history of abusing substances has in many ways aged him #and he has this thing this. he got out of that house and he got free but the moment his brothers need him he moves back in #he faces down the abuse again and almost dies for it because his brothers needed him #and its something kurt never experiences because he never has the protective drive for a sibling #when he ends up back at that house it is because kurt feels too weak to stand on his own feet #when nick does it its because he knows he can be strong enough to endure long enough to protect his brothers #and theres a Lot about nick that makes him more grown up than kurt emotionally #and i do think being a single dad to a baby is very very heavily involved in that but thats a whole other thing #if/when kurt has a baby he shifts to be more grown up tok but thats not the point of this #i started this saying they have nothing in common but they r v similar actually and maybe they should kiss #i ship a lot of my muses w kurt simply bc he deserves all the love #god i love nick i miss him catch me yelling on my multi ab him

#some tag rambles bc im having a bunch of loz thoughts to hey why not do a short lived tag ramble #starting with the bad i have thought more on how i feel totk fucked up its characters and its like. yeah any arcs that are there are bad #zeldas is dogshit all of the sages are just. VERY tell no show and it really doesnt matter and otherwise idk #nothing wrong with a static character but imo with a static character you then have to show more of them #reveal some things. also doesnt really happen. the main speaking cast are also kinda weak in relation to link #they dont really work off of him very well bc hes… not treated like a character. hes just some virtuous everyman in the story #so theres no actual chemistry between him or the other characters bc he isnt treated a character so like. he has almost no chemistry #its all mostly one sided and none of the sages but zelda have any real chemistry with other major characters either #and the major characters zelda has chemistry with barely matter so fuck it. like when ppl talk abt like. loz stories #and ppl talk abt how yeah they arent the best but totk is rlly bad. i dont feel like any other loz stories are baaaaad #not in the same way. but they dont feel as egregiously fumbled. imo its bc of the characters most of them time #ofc story can be strong enough and im not discounting stuff like mm and oots themes and atmosphere and stuff #it seeeems to me the most popular non zelda sage is tulin? but mostly bc hes a sweet kid and thats fine and all but there doesnt seem to #be much else to him hes otherwise kinda unremarkable bc he just doesnt do much else and seems to exists mostly to serve gameplay and plot #botw did it better bc the champions actively had a dynamic and a relationship with link they arent the deepest but they have more substance #botw zelda is arguably the strongest character in botw with a unique personality and genuine relationship to link even if we just see it #in the memories and seeing her warm up to link is cool but imp they fumble it in the ending of her arc and how it kinda contradicts stuff #and in totk they doubled the fuck down on her unlocking her powers for reasons related to link and decided ig shed figure she needs to be #links forever bestie and hypeman and she kinda just revolves around him in a really superficial way and this is the negative extreme #of a character being bolstered by being connected to link. but anyways in loz its the characters that tend to be the strongest points #and the characters with a clear dynamic and relationship to link shine the most. think groose ghirahim ravio midna fi marin linebeck sheik #the list could go on but the characters who get a chance to shine by interacting with the Player Character are the ones who stick out #and ofc they get more screen time but they cant avoid that character development or general character fleshing out bc they are in some way #tied to link and in a sort of way link himself is more fleshed out through how those other characters react to him if that makes sense #i think loz is at its best when a good bit of emphasis and effort is placed on characters and character relationships #and when thise relationships and character are written well ofc this fucking matters too #anyways thats why ph is one of the best we love our character heavy black sheep them ds characters carry so hard and so fucking well mwah

Less than a minute while i went to grab smth #Before he just dumped the still too wet zucchini into the mixing bowl and he just went back to sitting on his ass #Also while i was cutting the green onions and mincing he was supposed to be start mixing the batter but he just stood there and did nothing #i had to make the batter and while i was writing on the zucchinis i only then realized that after shredding the zucchini no one started the #sweating process and just left it there. And watched me mix the batter instead and i had to hurriedly dump the zucchini #And forced them to add the salt and toss it while i brought the dirty dishes to the dishwasher #And by the time we drained the zucchini and mixed it into the batter the class was halfway through and everyone else was eating and shit. #So while i fried the rest of them just watched hells kitchen #At leas the dishwasher offered to help shes a fucking godsend #And we also got them to fry the last one so. While it isnt much and it amounts to absolutely nothing we did get them to do something at lea #And dont even get me started on the state of the kitchen that we come to all the time #The previous class just leaves everything dirty and when i got the pan out all three were all greasy and sticky and gross #And the mixing bowls were yucky and encrusted in some unknown white substance #I washed them all #And i am so very fucking mad even though its been 4 hours since the class #I need to explode all of the fuckers NOW
