It really upsets me, when people try to make Nancy out to be the bad one, in the bathroom scene. She has seen so much, and lost one of the most important people in her life. She did the best she could, trying to get people to listen, and look for Barb, but not many people did.
She knows her best friend is dead, and she hears Barb’s family are selling their house to go find her because they believe she’s out there alive. She’s not able to tell them the truth, that she’s actually gone. The pain that must feel has to be unbearable. Nancy thinks she is the reason why Barb is gone. She believes she killed her. And knowing that her last conversation with her wasn’t good and she ended up telling her to leave. That is one of the most painful things to go through. She wasn’t able to say goodbye either. She’s being told to party and be like stupid teenagers (this is not a post attacking Steve so do not make it one, please), while she probably cries herself to sleep most nights due to the pain of losing her best friend and fully knowing she is gone and never coming back. I will never understand anyone who can say she was gross, in this scene, when she has been through so much and was obviously in a very vulnerable state. She hasn’t been okay in a year, spending time with her best friend’s grieving family, having these thoughts that she killed her. Nancy Wheeler is not a villain. She is not a bad person. She is not a terrible girlfriend. She was a girl dealing w extreme amounts of trauma and didn’t have any good coping mechanisms. She thought she was the reason for her best friend’s death and thought nobody was listening.

Can we, PLEASE, talk about how Nancy antis only hate on her due to THEIR ignorant headcanons of her??
“She’s ableist” she has never been ableist on the show.
“Shes homophobic” that scene literally does not exist
“She’s abusive” please, show me where.
“She has mistreated Steve” again, show me where.
I never see any Nancy antis criticize her for things she has done in canon, it’s always about these weird theories or headcanons they create of her, and it’s honestly looking like pure misogyny to me. There has never been a scene where she has genuinely been homophobic, or abusive, or an ableist and i find it extremely weird how people want to paint her as those things so much. Why project your nasty views onto her???

canon: explicitly shows how nancy is dealing with barb’s death and how she’s just a teenager and deserves sympathy and how she’s not okay after everything and that fucks over her relationship with everyone else and how she’s deeply traumatized and how she is right to be going through all this
some people: complain how people don’t see nancy as a teenager and what she’s going through
canon: gives steve shit for not properly getting over how he saw a monster and instead just wants to ignore it and not giving any sympathy to steve for dealing it with this way and not exploration about steve’s trauma and how he gets told by the one person he gave up everything to be with the whole time thinks he’s bullshit and laughs in his face when he just wants her to say the thing that she’s been saying for the whole relationship
steve stan’s: explore steve’s trauma and just want to actually give steve more development and sympathize what steve is going through
some people: god why do you have to give steve nancy’s trauma? hell why are you even thinking about him when you should be thinking about nancy and offering her some sympathy cuz steve doesn’t even deserve it

ALRIGHT BUT
I’ve been having flustered Steve thoughts.
The Party has NEVER seen Steve flustered. Steve’s always the one flirting and no one ever flirts back anymore so Steve’s never actually flustered.
But then Eddie Munson comes slithering along and he flirts with everyone just cause he can but nobody’s flustered by his attempts because he’s not trying to actually fluster them.
But for some reason he really flusters Steve.
Eddie uses this to his advantage and actually puts forth effort when he flirts with Steve.
Steve is flustered, bashful, embarrassed. He’s twirling his hair and giggling and he does this thing where he taps his fingernails on his front teeth when he gets distracted.
The Party was NEVER seen Steve like this.
Not even Nancy when they were dating.
Steve has described what he was like when he was flustered to them, calling himself stupid and saying he acted like an idiot to try and get them to just lay off.
All anyone sees is an absolute sweetheart.
Steve blushes really bright, starting with his ears and it just travels down from there. And also he’s really bad at hiding his smiles and he smiles so BIG when Eddie flirts with him. Like you can see every tooth and his eyes crinkle so much they basically close and his nose scrunches up.
And Eddie fucking THRIVES in it.
Because NO ONE else gets Steve like that.
Eddie’s witnessed Steve flirting with the girls of Hawkins. Has seen them all flirt back with varying degrees of bluntness.
None of them have gotten Steve nearly half as flustered as Eddie has.
UNTIL.
Eddie has Steve come over to the trailer to hang out. Steve by some turn of events ends up cooking and making grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Wayne comes home right as Steve is playing everything and Steve is DISTRAUGHT. Like “no Wayne it’s alright, really. I can make you some to it’s ok I like cooking you’re really doing me a favor.”
So Steve makes Wayne a grilled cheese to and refuses to let Eddie eat until they can eat together.
So they’re all sitting and then they start eating. And obviously it was a damn good grilled cheese— Eddie knew Steve could cook but good GOD.
And then Wayne puts his grilled cheese down, looks between Steve and Eddie, and tells Eddie “If you don’t marry ‘im I’m adoptin ‘im.”
And Steve BEAMS.
It’s that same smile he gets when Eddie flirts with him and Eddie is only somewhat livid.
Cause he totally gets the rush of having Wayne compliment you for the first time. He’s just such an honest man.
And it goes from there that the only people who can fluster Steve are Eddie and Wayne (Eddie romantically and Wayne platonic-fatherly).
They both go out of their way to compliment him constantly just to see him smile like that :)))
Aaahhhhh this makes me so happy!!!!

a part of me thinks (or considers) that they brought stncy back bc they might seem the situation from the angle that steve personally developed and changed, and when nancy is 'ready' to enter a relationship with him again he will wait. they also might have planned nancy and jonathan to have relationship problems without fixing them as a set up for breaking them up, and it kinda seems sus to bring stncy thing and tease it if it is not going anywhere. and as much as i see it as an 'evidence' for jncy, them staying together and holding hands in the last shot is not enough of a narrative proof to say that they will end the show being a couple.
this stncy thing and teasing it would be pretty much nonsensical and unnecessary if it is not going anywhere is what im saying at the end of the day. bc they had the capacity to make steve move on in s3 when he's said he's over nancy, and there was no point of showing nancy's 'sort of attraction' towards steve in this season and leaving it ambigous. xDDD? i am sorry at the end of the day but the writers legt things that way and stncy happening is an actual possibility as well as the single!nancy route, and thinking jncy is 100% endgame just bc of that last shot is negating the overt narrative and how their relationship has been portrayed in s3-s4.
i think the stncy thing and teasing it can still makes sense even if they don't get back together. the thing though is what would steve even get from getting back together with nancy. is "giving" him the girl who got together with the guy she really wanted to be with while steve was buying flowers and planned on apologizing as a reward for becoming a better person much of a reward. lol
