You said something about Sonic betraying his friends? Woah nelly, that's a hard to imagine but really interesting story. How does that go about in your head? Does he still treat them like friends? Fight them or act way too casual about it? You've unlocked yet another plot bunny in my mind.

i think it really depends on the context. like i don't have a specific scenerio in my head over how a fight between sonic and his friends would work out... but i've just always wanted to have sonic as a boss battle, but in the way eggman is a boss battle- that he's actually a threat, not just a scuffle between non-communicating friends, and i just think it would be more satisfying if sonic chose to become the boss, or at worst was manipulated into the position.

im partial to the idea that sonic treats the situation like the does with his rivals- he's still sonic by nature, he's made the conscious choice to betray his friends, and so he's still cracking jokes and trying to make a bit of a banter out of it. he's taking the situation seriously, tho- he won't lose. he's determined to see this through and to prove that he was right, for whatever reason. but he's still sonic. and the fact that he's still acting like himself i think makes the situation worse.

i think if it's a particularly important matter, sonic would begin the fight with a few jokes, but once he sees his friends are equally ready to fight for their opinion, then sonic's jokes fade and he becomes much more serious. when situations call for it, sonic's readily able to stop joking around and get serious in the games, ready to cut to the chase and finally finish the fight, especially when none of his friends are around. he seems to lighten the mood to help keep their spirits up. but sonic's not going to do that when they're no longer on the same side. and i think that also makes the situation worse, when his friends realize sonic's perceived them as enemies, not allies who just need to be convinced he was right.

the severity of the situation would definitely impact how sonic treats them, but ultimately, if sonic does this out of his own free will, he'll still treat them as his friend, as his usual rivals, until the situation worsens and he's forced to consider them as enemies.

Absolutely begging my otherwise sensible fellow leftists to stop dismissing anyone who engages with voting and elections as a Stupid Liberal. Voting for someone as a leftist doesn't mean I agree with them, it means I'd rather fight against their bullshit than the even worse bullshit of whoever the other options are. It's a harm reduction tactic to avoid making our own fight harder than it needs to be.

Refusing to vote for "the lesser evil" because of your own reactionary purity politics actively erodes what remains of a political left wing while allowing even greater harm to come to those most vulnerable in our society. Refusing to acknowledge there are objective and concrete differences between political parties and dubbing them "all as bad as each other" actively ignores the direct and immediate danger specific policy differences can have for poc, trans people, disabled people, poor people, homeless people, and otherwise marginalised folks.

Electoral politics is not the battleground where we will win the fight against capitalist oppression, but the people are also not about to pick up their pitchforks and storm parliament tomorrow. This fight will take years if not decades, and I would rather spend that time fighting progressives and liberals than conservatives and right-wingers.
