Yknow there's one thing that's always gotten on my nerves about the way people discuss news/current events on sites like Tumblr and Twitter, where people presume people know things and are just maliciously not-talking about it, even though they'll then later admit that many news platforms flat out aren't talking about it.
Like. Maybe I'm being a big optimistic in my hope in people. But it feels... skeevy, in a sense?
"How dare people care about this event that's being heavily covered by news outlets in papers, online, and on TV, but not care about this other event thats also happened recently that no major and few minor news outlets have covered, its like you hate people or something" maybe people just haven't heard about it? Since it's not being covered much? If I haven't heard of a tragedy taking place elsewhere, whether its because I was just away from the phone for awhile or because I just didn't come across any news of it, I don't think that marks me or anyone else who hasn't heard yet as a bad, heartless person?
"This event happened 3 hours ago and I haven't heard ANYONE talking about it, guess none of y'all care about abcxyz" if its so recent, I can't necessarily say I'm surprised no one's talking about it yet? News takes awhile to spread.
There's been plenty of times where I haven't heard about a tragedy until hours or days later, not for lack of caring, but simply for lack of... hearing about it? I don't imagine I'm the only one, either.
I dunno what my point is here. But starting off posts with guilt-trippy 'how dare you not yet know what I do' before getting into the actual news just feels skeevy at best and inflammatory at worst?

Following up on the ask about the Titan supers, going for the fantasy expectation question specifically- Titans are, thematically, front-line tacticians. People throw around Spartan, Paladin, Soldier, titles like that. What bungie seems to see them as is a big gorilla, or the Hulk, and I feel that does a disservice to the actual characterization of the class. Even if it does different things in gameplay, debuffing for example, running around punching is creatively boring. I'd like a utility supe
The problem is, how do you translate "front-line tactician" into a playable ability? A tactician is someone who makes plans to execute a strategy. Titans are well known to be able to make plans, both ahead of time and on the go, as well as improvise in the heat of battle, but that is simply incredibly metaphysical to make first person shooter gameplay out of.
As an example, would I like if, as a Titan, I could use destructible environment to quickly create a throwing melee or super? Sure. A game where a piece of concrete can be destroyed and then you can pick it up and use it to throw it at enemies or create a temporary barricade or do whatever else you might come up with to simulate a front-line tactician would be unfathomably cool. And also impossible to do in Destiny as it exists right now.
We can extend that to other classes as well. Warlocks are scholars and students of the arcane space magics and should be able to specialise in specific fields and then weave them as they see fit in millions of different ways, but instead their supers are; throw void orb, throw void orb but it tracks, you are void orb, solar sword on fire, solar sword on fire in the ground, electric fingers, electric beam and stick.
Hunters are supposed to be agile scouts and explorers who trek the wilderness and map the unknown, but I'm forced into known missions with fireteams instead of having an open world to map out alone for others. My supers are gun with three bullets, gun with six bullets, knives, bow with one shot, bow with three shots, knives, spin stick, throw stick and tornado.
There's very obviously a limit to what the class is in lore and setting and what it can be in gameplay. I totally understand the disappointment about the new super being seemingly "the same" as the last one ("element on fists, punch"), but I feel like a lot of the complaints and demands are quite literally impossible and unreasonable. And some of the complaints can be applied to other two classes as well.
I think it's good to tell Bungie that we would like more variety in supers, especially as it pertains to their viability in various content. I would 100% love for an additional super for stasis and strand and for Titans to have more ranged options because in a lot of cases you can't really get close range to enemies. Stomps, pushback, environmental hazards and other issues limit what we can use melee abilities for.
Obviously I've not played the strand stuff so I'm working with what we've been told and shown, but I think it's fairly obvious that strand IS a utility super. It's the most utility since void and overshield; strand not only gives you and your teammates damage reduction, but also controls the battlefield by suspending enemies. Like, by all accounts strand is a utility subclass with a lot of debuffing and buffing options and movement utilities.
I also think it's reductive to say that the new strand super is just "gorilla." It really isn't. I am not aware of gorillas being able to control the battlefield by suspending enemies in the air and locking down a whole section while empowering allies with damage reduction utilities. And being able to control the battlefield and empower your allies while you plan out your attack and dish out damage is, quite literally, a tactician move.
I think both Behemoth and Berserker are much closer to the front-line tactician fantasy since void. If anything is "gorilla" it's Fists of Havoc. A lot of people shit on Behemoth but if you really want utility and being able to perform multiple tasks at once with your super, Behemoth is one of the things to pick. Need to kill enemies? Got it. Need to freeze them while you deal with something else? Got it. Need to block off an area? Got it. Need to create barricades for your team? Got it. Your team needs overshield which you can give them by making stasis shards with your super? Got it. The problems with Behemoth not being used much are with a completely different section of issues, which is activity, encounter and enemy designs.
If Berserker is truly similar in any way, then it's in this this way imo, as it gives you options to use your super in different ways for different purposes depending on what you need. Like a tactician. I think people are way too focused on the idea that you use your fists and not at all focusing on the actual utility and options of the super. Though obviously if someone just isn't vibing with it, it's not something that people can change.

something something some yakuza antagonists ideals are completely valid and if they just went about them a different way the whole situation wouldnt have been life or death something something. something something i will agree with an antag (nishiki WHO SAID THAT) more if their reasoning behind what theyre doing is solid enough (yeah girl be mentally ill i support you i'll get you help too) something something
this goes for outside of yakuza too idk why im adding it but like. personally i love antags more than the protags because 1 more interesting 2 bro 99% of the time theyre just so mentally unwell if they had help as a child or just someone by their side supporting them enough in life they wouldnt be doing any of that shit 3 half the time theyre just. right. about the status of things? and i got that autistic sense of justice behind me so i automatically side with them like they go about it the wrong way but theyre right my bad 4 not all antags are evil even theyre literally there because the protaganist needs a foil the whole light needs dark dark needs light thing blah blah 5 theyre bad bitches i cant deny a bad bitch their non-heroic deeds.
i need to type up another slideshow about the intricacies of characters and why so and so did what they did or why so and so shouldnt be faulted for their ideals. god i love writing about characterization i love writing i need to write of course people can dislike "bad guys" theyre written to be disliked because of the perspective you see them from but i love being like oooh hoo hoo you are a hidden gem you are a diamond in the rough damn ya ass fat whats ya trauma? oh god this is long uhm. yeah :]
anon you're spitting but im too drunk to make a good response just know im nodding and listening and agreeing

I saw some comments of Italians saying that in the beginning of last season, when ferrari had their first issues, charles still sound positive and hopeful in the post race interviews. And now in the interview after the first race he already sounds apathetic and defeated like seb and alonso were before. Like he already realized this isn't going to work.
I don't know about that. Obviously it's a big shock (derogatory) and disappointment to unexpectedly DNF in the very first race of the season (especially if it was preventable) so he's hardly going to be all smiles in the immediate aftermath. I believe the drivers are expected to head straight to the media pen after a DNF, which means he basically didn't have a chance to speak to anyone from the team before heading to the media, save for Andrea, who knows about as much as Charles does. His first DNF in 2022 came in Barcelona, at a time where they had a much more competitive car from day 1 and it looked like they could still turn things around pretty easily (Max was ahead by 6 points after that race and that's after RB swapped the cars; had Checo won the race, Charles would've still had the lead in the standings.)
Whereas in this race Ferrari already knew they were on the back foot relative to Red Bull, and that podium was much-needed for the team. So obviously the frustration and disappointment is going to show. However, he looked pretty happy in the pics from his visit to the factory today, so I think the motivation is still there. I remember seeing quotes going around of Charles admitting he's feeling better in the car than he did during testing, so that's already a tentative positive. They supposedly have all this straight line speed banked, so it'll be interesting to see how they'll do on a track where tyre degradation is less of an issue, plus the rumoured wing upgrades...
There's been a lot of defeatism going around, both from the fans but perhaps more surprisingly from the teams themselves, after just one race that probably wasn't all that representative. Remember, some people really, truly believed the season was already decided after Australia last year. Does it look like more of an uphill climb this year compared to last season? Yes, no doubt. But to publicly throw in the towel, like Mercedes is doing, after one race? All this talk of this being the longest-ever season of F1 and people are just shrugging and writing it off. Sure, it looks predictable from where we're standing today, but it's still F1 and there's always a possibility of crazy unexpected shit happening. 🤷🏻♀️

We (it’s me, I’m the problem) lie to ourselves if we think Harry can’t be at the level he is/aspires to be without publicity in whatever form that takes. We can be annoyed or disgusted or feel like it makes him look a certain way (spoiler alert: everyone already thought he was a himbo homewrecker fuck boy who is straight anyway), but talent only gets you so far. Being closeted means he really has to double down on the BS and keep narratives alive. If he were a cishet dude he could probably have a different approach but since he’s never been able to actually publicly date a person he’s sexually interested in, it’s all about feeding the sharks with these antics.
Yeah, I feel this, and I wonder what happens behind the scenes on the anxiety front because the higher you rise, the sharper the knives (as someone once famously said, and I hate him, but yeah, Mr. Ginger Spice was right on that front). I also increasingly feel like for both of them--Harry and Louis--the loud larrie contingent is a huge liability, not some kind of mega support system they can rely on. When you start atting people and shouting about how it's all so loud loud loud, that's why you see what you see (which is literally nothing).
