Working on a secret lil Alenoah au, but because of that I'm going through a couple of the other characters and doing pretty big changes. I only just started on Duncan's hair, and literally just removing his stupid lil shark fin and changing literally nothing else but giving him actual hair makes him look like 5000% better. It's like goddamn magic how literally one feature fixes everything.

this endeavor is a lot harder than it sounds because the maps the games give you are terrible. goddamn awful man. 1 has a wonky perspective that makes it hard to tell if things are behind each other or not, MoF looks at it from the side so you get no sense of horizontal spacing, and the less we talk about the abominations in 2 the less I will start frothing at the mouth in sheer fury

I have a lot of fun with Gloria and she's always a treat to write! I did that big post a while back about Nick and his relation to, and subversion of, the archetypical detective, so a lot of Glori's character and purpose comes from playing those stereotypes completely straight but adding a retrofuture twist to it, as a detective herself AND the femme fatale wildcard the narrative doesn't see inside the head of. She's the chain smoking, morally ambiguous cynic with a tragic past, who isn't adverse to doing some really awful things, and that's fun to contrast with Nick's unshakable lawful good nature. The Pre-War I'm working from in Dead Man Talking is a stagnant nightmare. Rampant inequality, no sexual revolution, Gloria saddled with unfathomable medical debt as a result of procedures she couldn't live without. The angle I'm coming at with her is intended to parallel Nick's: mixed feelings that are ultimately irreconcilable and must be endured, not resolved. In the wasteland, she's treated like a smart, capable person with her own thoughts, feelings, flaws and desires. All it took was everybody she ever loved dying. Two ghosts out of time, walking the land and hemorrhaging forever, stopping occasionally to pile guaze into one another like it doesn't tumble straight through

Casting spells on cats is difficult in general, but I’m usually not this bad at it. They’re one of the very few (debatably) magickal creatures that are completely immune to compulsion. Since you can’t make them do anything, you have to tempt them, which requires charisma just as much as focus. You can’t just brute-force them with magic; you have to be genuinely good with cats.

Luckily for me, I haven’t been a dog person in years.
