choose violence! 2, 8, (is there any specific one you're really hoping for the chance to grumble about)?
a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
I'll answer a variation on this one. I might be more compelled by sub!Hannibal if he actually behaved the way he does when restrained or overpowered or captive in canon, i.e. continuing to be cool and collected and trying to influence the situation to his advantage, rather than turning into a puddle of goo. And if it were Will tying him up and hurting him? Someone he loves and knows can't bring himself to really hurt him and someone whose aggressive side he's been trying to tease out since day one? He'd be DELIGHTED. He'd be UNBEARABLY smug. He wouldn't be able to resist egging Will on and asking him if it felt good to torture him and have him at his mercy. He is immune to subspace.
Which is to say I think he can bottom in stuff like rope or painplay (I think he actively enjoys a good invigorating beating) but he can't submit to save his life.
common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
You've seen me talk about this in your vicinity before, I think, but the idea of Will as being ~so jealous and possessive~ towards Hannibal, and this being a primary element in how he relates to Hannibal.
Yeah, you can pinpoint contexts in which that arguably bubbles up, particularly with Bedelia, but she's also a person he's got plenty of other moral reasons to dislike - it's not as if jealousy is the sum total of why he hates her. And most of the other attributions of his behaviour around/about Hannibal to "jealousy" are nonsense imo.
But what really drives me up the wall is that Will is somehow equally jealous/possessive to Hannibal, or even more so! Or that this somehow makes him "just as bad as" or worse than Hannibal! i.e. "people think Hannibal is the jealous one, but it's actually Will"/"ok, but Will is jealous too!"/"Hannibal might be evil but Will is ~jealous~ so it balances out" and whatnot.
Yeah sorry but I think the guy who engineers a situation in which Will's unborn child gets aborted, stabs Will and then kills someone Will cares about right in front of him as punishment for Will betraying him (and for valuing getting justice for the previous-presumed-dead person Hannibal kills more than he values going with Hannibal), AND tries to have the family that Will formed without him killed... might be a little bit possessive towards Will! That's not actually a wild and crazy extrapolation! And those actions are unequivocally worse than Will being bitchy with Bedelia in season 3.
(Yeah, there's the leg post-fall, which could be said to be an escalation of Will's antagonism towards her. But that comes after the events of canon and doesn't represent a tendency Will displays throughout the show. And furthermore, while it's reasonable to assume Will is an active participant in that, I'm pretty convinced that going after Bedelia was Hannibal's idea - there are a lot of hints dropped in 3A that Hannibal's been planning to eat her Abel Gideon-style for a long time. I might make a post about that later.)
A lot of this stems from people wanting to avoid interpreting the characters through very narrow archetypal lenses. And to some degree, that's understandable, because neither Will not Hannibal is just one thing, and they both defy categorization in a lot of ways. But sometimes people resist common character tropes a bit too extensively, in ways that also ignore canon characterization. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and sometimes the serial killer dude who displays a complete lack of regard for others' boundaries over the course of the show is jealous and possessive. It happens.
Furthermore, I think that Hannibal's possessive behaviour is extremely sexy of him and a major part of the appeal of his character, to me. It's a gothic romance! We do not need it to be egalitarian.
[free space]
This is also relating to Will, but something that's been getting my goat frequently is the idea that because Will has a penchant for manipulation (which, yeah, he does), everything he says and any emotion or vulnerability or inner conflict he shows must be a lie. As I argued in this post (and touched on it here too), Will doesn't like being perceived as weak, and with very few exceptions, his active manipulations are about playing up his confidence and certainty. (The deleted scene from season 2 where he plots with Mason Verger is a good example of this - the sort of faux-joviality and barely masked contempt of his affect are a pretty clear indication of how he performs). And while he's often unforthcoming about his own motives, like when he talks to Pazzi and says "you don't know whose side I'm on", he doesn't usually show the inner conflict turmoil he's actually feeling.
All of that is to say - when Will does outwardly express fear or uncertainty, he usually means it! I've seen a lot of takes that downplay the degree to which he's conflicted about Hannibal, especially in 3B - like, the idea that he was "manipulating" Bedelia in their therapy sessions and wasn't actually unsure at all as to whether Hannibal was in love with him (which... manipulating her to what end??? he doesn't need anything from her other than therapy at that point. he hates her! why would he subject himself to her company if not for the simple reason that she might be the only person on Earth who has any capacity to possibly understand what he went through with Hannibal?) Or that he wasn't actually conflicted about getting involved with criminal investigation again (and by extension, seeing Hannibal again) at the beginning of 3B, and he was just "manipulating Jack" (again, why??? Why not just readily agree to Jack's request, and claim he's invested in saving lives, if he really is super murder happy at that point and wants to hide that? And if he was truly so uncomplicatedly eager to see Hannibal again, then... why didn't he just visit him? Why wait until another murderer needed to be caught?)
Those are just a few examples of that sort of thing, and they stick in my mind because season 3B is just more interesting to me if Will was sincere about wanting to break free of Hannibal at the end of Digestivo, got pulled back into Hannibal's world in a way he couldn't bring himself to say no to, and seeing him against brought up long-denied personal feelings and inner urges. But it does crop up in plenty of other contexts too, and it just seems like such a flattening take on his character. Will being constantly torn in two and at war with himself and his own impulses is such a fundamental element of his character! What's the point of even having a story if he doesn't feel at all conflicted about Hannibal and his own darker side?

After seeing that (second) Yu post, I gotta wonder: does your issue with changelings stem from the fact most people like to run them as 'gotcha' characters (and so would be fine with one who avoid such pitfalls), or do you just not vibe with them on a personal level?
Both - and, to be clear, my dislike of specific character build choices is basically always a thing that can be negated by how the character is played (eg: I love Loquatius Seelie, who is a changeling without that gotcha trope; I can name no shortage of rogue or tiefling characters I enjoy despite being negative to "meh" on both those things).
I just find the gotcha thing so fucking boring, and it's such a popular path for changelings that's a huge part of it...but I think the other best way to put is like...look. I think that what probably happened is during the big initial 5e boom when tons of new players were coming in, there were some shitty old guard bro players who were like "how DARE you come in here with your woman characters and your queer characters asking us to acknowledge that perhaps it's possible for a black person to play a black high elf and playing bards and druids who aren't just here to make my min-maxed human fighter/rogue look AWESOME." And obviously that fucking sucks. But now we see the backlash case, where someone who has played a series of interchangeable trauma-dumping chaotic neutral tiefling charisma casters in combat-avoidant games will go "ew I hate this actual player who consistently makes thoughtful choices and is collaborative and generous as a player but tends to make strait-laced dwarf paladins or whatnot, they're so boring."
Like...I think the best way to put it is that changeling often screams style over substance, and I really don't enjoy that. As indicated with Loquatius, I'm happy to be proven wrong by interesting changeling characters [NOTE: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INTERPRET THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CHANGELING CHARACTER; IT IS NOT, I DO NOT CARE, THIS IS ABOUT GAMES I PLAY IN AND ACTUAL PLAY I FOLLOW] but yeah, I tend to come in with a sense of skepticism.

i would pay so much actual real life money for a mega man anime with the same style and tone as super adventure rockman holy shit. like all this needs is fight scenes that are actually animated instead of the same reused shot of rock activating his mega buster followed by an uncomfortably close zoom into his eyeball 6 times in half an hour and bingo bongo you literally have the perfect show

One interesting thing about the fact so much modern fantasy and whatnot (Imho) gets shoved into being ya without seriously considering plot nature is the current commonality of child soldiers and child marriage, both of which, I hope we can emphasise, are extremely fucked up. It’s not that I dont think problematic things need not happen- all plots need problems! It’s that those things are really deeply violent enough they should really be pushed into the front into the plot, rather than quickly and glibly accepted as background worldbuilding so that we can get to the hashtag enemies to lovers or what have you. now historical veracity on either child marriage Or child enlistment is an extremely complicated matter, because there is no one truth for all history nor are modern conceptions of what it means to be a child or adult at all stable. But the sort of books I’m talking about are rarely attempting historical accuracy, nor taking particularly seriously that child enlistment comes with the threat of death, even if it’s the good guys doing it, and marriage in most contexts came with the expectations of sex and childbearing and also in a way death, even if it’s the hot brooding hero your protagonist is being married off too. My point here is that I get the frustration with the leads of these books supposedly being 16, even if they’re “YA,” even if they’re officially For Kids, because so rarely does the author seem to have seriously taken into account the lead IS sixteen, and is going to have to face these situations with the life experience of a sixteen year old. Like we need to be honest that an enormous amount of the readership of YA ISN‘T teenagers (just like an enormous amount of what a lot of serious teenage readers read also isn’t YA) and that ya, something hypothetically about applying an age boundary to literally any genre ever, has in fact evolved into quite a specific genre in which age is secondary to writing style and plot conventions, and is bound to the expectations of people Well Out of teenager-hood. (Think about the number of twenty something individuals on Twitter who read only ya and classify books by trope over genre.) I started out to post a vague aside - that odd competing forces have lead to some of humanities most fucked behaviours being background noise to many ya novels- and ended up in a different place, which is that I think teens deserve better! But also if you’re reading a ya novel and thinking it would be better if they weren’t, like, sixteen, there’s a high chance you‘re not wrong.

can I just flop into your inbox and despair for a hot second about how like. bewildered I am over the lore of spop??? I thought about doing this as proper asks but then it got... long.
Sure! Anyone can flop into my inbox c:
idk if it's me and I'm just dumb and not getting it?? I've gotta go back and comb through the show I guess bc the wiki and google and the internet at large are the opposite of helpful.
but no okay the show kept saying that the first ones were basically - etheria's first settlers or whatever the hell right?? something along those lines? am I remembering this correctly? that's why the etherian's CALL them the first ones? (I mean but Prime did too didnt he now that I think about it. I'm not sure why he would though, the context for why the etherian's would use the term and why he'd use the term are different?) ugh whatever, like I said I gotta go back and comb through but I wanna say that the implication was that the first ones were the...First Ones to be on etheria. which is like....??
Mm... it’s a bit unclear, but Mara speaks in a way that highly implies that there are native Etherians already on Etheria when the First Ones arrive. One of them being Razz.
I doubt that Etherians really know much about their own history; their records seem sporadic to me, so they may or may not know that the First Ones weren’t actually the first sapients on the planet.
And Prime doesn’t really call them the First Ones; he simply acknowledges that that is what Adora and the Etherians call them. I don’t recall him calling them anything specific.
bc then when it comes to the whole, heart of etheria thing, and the runestones, and all of that? and then the princesses? I'm honestly just so confused as to how it all is supposed to fit together. bc then uh where did the five royal families come from to begin with? were the runestones there from the start? were those five families magically connected with those runestones from the start or were they only connected and whatnot after the first ones were all like "hey so uh, if you synch up to this rock you can do cooler magic" but then if etheria was already being ruled by several different courts of elemental royalty or wtf ever, then they couldnt really call themselves the first ones. but Also it's just (and I think you've addressed that the showrunners seem So Much More Interested in telling the catradora gf drama angst saga then fleshing out their world building lmao) it's kinda just like... why do all of these families only have one child? why do each of the princesses of power not have a sibling? like what if - considering mooooost of them seem to be orphans lol - one of them trips down the stairs and smacks their head on the floor and dies?? I guess uhhh, now your kingdom doesn't have a ruler??
So, my understanding of the runestones is that they were devices created by the First Ones in order to enhance and better control the magic of those naturally in tune with certain elemental aspects of the planet. I don’t think this is explicitly stated in canon, but I assume as much by extrapolating from the purpose of She-Ra’s sword. As we learn over the course of the show, the First Ones did not create She-Ra, but they did create the sword. She-Ra is an Etherian entity, some form of planetary guardian or what-have-you, and the First Ones created the runestone sword in order to control that entity and incorporate it into the Heart of Etheria. I would assume that the other runestones serve a similar purpose.
Now, as far as our current Etherians not knowing this: this is a fairly common sci-fi trope. The idea of the original purpose of something (usually some form of advanced tech) being lost as information is lost to the ages is often used to facilitate protagonists not immediately knowing what a thing is for. Like... oh, if you’ve ever read the Dragonriders of Pern series. That’s a good example: Earth colonists land on a planet, find it inhospitable, genetically engineer empathetic dragons to help fight the threat, and... well, people live there for generations, forget their origins, regress technologically, and just assume that there have always been dragons on Pern.
As far as single child Princesses and whatnot: likely a by-product of the show already having a million characters, and siblings not being needed for the plot! I mean, the show already had enough to deal with; no need to add more fluff.
and yeah it's a kids show but it doesnt ;__; none of the any of it makes sense to me.
what is the Heart of Etheria even supposed to Do again??? like we know it's a superweapon that channels magic and like, Mara trapped etheria in despondos 1000 years ago so my soft theory is that the first ones were maybe using it as a last ditch effort against Prime? I mean is the sword just.... gps coordinated to fire at prime regardless of where he is in the universe or whatever?? bc I mean at that point is prime on etheria's doorstep?? I don't! I dont understaaaand.
Well, since it never fires, we cannot know for certain, but Death Star-style planetary destroyer seems logical.
I do like the headcanon that it was actually a last ditch effort to defeat Prime, especially since we now know that the First Ones fought him and apparently lost!
This is an interesting concept to me because, while their colonization of Etheria is widely regarded as Bad, because colonialism is Bad, the idea that they did it in order to try to save their own lives, and potentially the lives of others in the universe, makes the situation far more morally grey than it might initially appear. Yes, their colonization harmed the Etherians, but might it have been worth it, if they had succeeded and killed Prime a thousand years ago? Would that have prevented the genocides he committed on other worlds? Would sacrificing Etheria have been worth it if, say, a thousand other inhabited planets had been spared as a result? Not a set of questions the show asks, but meaningful ones, in my opinion.
why does Prime want it? like is he not under the impression that messing with it is gonna like... pretty much blow up everything within a big ass huge af radius? he said something or other about purifying the universe and starting over or some nonsense like that but??? like you'd be dead too my guy. you might be egotistical and narcissistic and vain af but I dont think he's that stupid as to think he's somehow immune to giant fricken explosions.
Oh, I think he has some idea of how to survive it. He can body hop. He is, in some sense of the word, eternal because of that. If She-Ra hadn’t stepped in, he likely would have succeeded in continuing his existence. The way he speaks, one may even infer that this sort of thing has happened before.
But, hard to say! Thankfully, we don’t have to find out c:
and I'm just. I just wanna know more about the spop world at large you know?? like. I just want All the world building and backstory and explanations to things. I have so many questions.
anyway sorry for kinda dumping this giant wall of shrieking nonsense in your inbox I'm just like. I dont... I dont get it. I dont get any of it lmao and I wanna get it! like the whole universe of this show could be so cool and so fun and interesting but it's like... some of the pieces dont seem to.. f i t
yeah
Ah, such is the burden of a world that has only enough worldbuilding done to facilitate its story, no more and no less. But! At the same time, this means that we as viewers can infer many things from canon and fill in the blanks with whatever we prefer. Leading to a lovely variety of fandom content to amuse us for some time to come c:

Q & A
The 2K follower special is here. Thank you to everyone that submitted a question. The transcript is below for those of you who would rather read. Hope you enjoy ♡ ♡ ♡
I do apologize in advance as my mic picked up on every little sound. Such as me rubbing my arm soothingly and my accidentally hitting my ankles against my chair. Also, sorry for the long pauses this was the third take and it was the best one.
youtube
Hi everyone, this is Cloud. I’m doing this Q & A special as a thank you for getting me to two thousand followers which I really appreciate. It’s twenty questions long, I don’t think it’s going to take a long time. I do apologize in advance if I’m a bit awkward, I’m alone in my room talking to a mic. So, I do apologize in advance.
1) Where are you from?
I’m from South Florida, but my family and I are Latinos.
2) What made you decide to write specifically yandere? And would you ever post a nonstandard story on the blog?
So, what got me into yandere or what really opened me up to writing it was the fact that when I was twelve or thirteen I was really into wattpad stories. A couple years ago, when I revisited them I realized that a lot of them painted these abusive relationships in a positive light or just romanticized them a lot. Which is terrible, because when I read that I grew up thinking that’s how relationships were supposed to be. That your partner is supposed to be possessive, kind of controlling, and a bit handsy sometimes. Which is obviously very wrong.
What I like about yandere, what got me into writing it, was the fact that I could portray these relationships that had been romanticized when I was younger - that the media often romanticizes - that it’s not healthy. It’s not good. Specifically, people who are inexperienced the way I was. I think you can hear about all these red flags and different things, but if you’ve never been in a relationship and you don’t really know what a red flag looks like I think it’s important to know those signs. I think that’s why I write my stories.
On whether I would ever post a nonstandard on the blog, I have wanted to write other stories but I don’t think I’ll do it on this blog. Just because this blog is so centered on being a yandere blog and my followers/readers sort of come to my blog expecting something. So, I would probably open a second blog and just write other stories on that.
3) Who is your bias?
I like to think I’m OT7 bias. I love all seven of the members and support them, however, the people who first caught my attention from BTS were Tae and Yoongi.
4) How long have you been writing?
So I’m twenty now, I would say I’ve been writing for over ten years now. I actually got in trouble a lot back when I was in elementary school and middle school because instead of paying attention I would just write little short stories or chaptered stories, that just really made no sense, during class. I would just write it on scraps of paper instead of actually taking notes.
5) What got you into writing?
I think like a lot of people I was really into books. I loved books so much. I want to get back into them, but I think a lot of people can relate when I say I’d rather read a 100k story than open up a book. What got me into writing was definitely reading, I read so much. I carried a book with me everywhere. I read so much that my parents told me I had to stop reading - that’s the level I was at. (insert awkward laugh) What got me into reading though was this little, not really popular, book called Twilight. I was eight when I saw the movie and then I got the book for my birthday. I just fell down a rabbit hole after that of just reading.
6) Your favorite fic so far?
That I’ve written would definitely be Datura. I just love it so much, it holds such a special place in my heart - all those characters.
7) What’s your favorite non-yandere fic?
I have several, I even have a blog called @girlmeetsfics (shameless plug) dedicated to all the stories that I find. Cause I have my likes locked. But, right now my top three are: @rkivenamu, I’m sorry if I mispronounce these usernames, Let’s Be Bad Guys. I’m a slut for OT7 in space, I just am. That story is so phenomenal. So well written. The characters are so interesting. The stakes are so well written. I think it’s difficult to get action done well in books, you can get tension, but when it comes to action scenes its difficult to elaborate on them, but she does it so well and you really feel that the character’s lives are in danger and that anything could happen at any second. I’m actually such a fan of that story and love it so much that I followed her or them and I put on the post notifications to be notified for when she would update again.
In second place, I have @btssavedmylifeblr Void. If you haven’t read that - you’re missing out. It’s amazing. It’s phenomenal. I love the character’s so much. Again, I’m a sucker for space stories, I just love sci-fi.
And then recently @gukslut Rattled is such a beautiful and heartbreaking tale. It’s so human. I’ve never read such human characters before, they are just so real and raw and I just love it. So, I would definitely recommend checking it out.
8) Is there any style of writing that you try to emulate?
Some of my favorite authors are those turn of the century authors: J.M. Barrie, Lewis Carrol, etc. I really love those stories. If you’ve ever read some of those authors - Edgar Allan Poe and some of Lovecraft - they are third-person point of view, but its this weird blend between you being a person in the story and the story being told to you.
9) Name a trope you hate.
I don’t really hate anything. What I don’t like to maybe read or write is a boring protagonist. I don’t like a character that is so blank slate that they just have no personality. Or nothing to do and they’re just there to be pushed around. They’re a really passive protagonist and don’t get me wrong, you can definitely do a passive protagonist right. I just really don’t like protagonists that are a blank slate, that you have to force yourself to give them a personality. That there’s no personality given to them by the author.
I do understand that the stories I write, and the most popular stories are, self-insert or member x reader but I think you can manage to get away with still having some characterization there.
10) What is a dynamic you always include in your stories?
Something I like to highlight a lot is codependency. From my personal experience, a lot of the toxic relationships that I’ve been in - even though they haven’t been romantic, mainly platonic - suffer from codependency or it’s definitely one of the dynamics that play a significant role. So, its something I always like to highlight in these relationships. With co-dependency, it might not always seem bad to be entirely reliant on someone, especially if your self-esteem isn’t that high (self-esteem as defined by Adler & Stewart), but it can really quickly turn toxic in the hands of the wrong person or even in the hands of the right person.
11) If you had to pick to be the OC of one of your stories who would you be?
This is going to sound weird and kinda masochistic, but I would be interested in being the OC of the Violent Delights story. Even though all the character’s in that story are so beyond intense and given how it ends. Well, the series might not end like that I’m still not sure. But given how the one-shot ends, it’s kinda depressing but that is the OC I would be.
12) Any upcoming fics you’re excited to write about?
I’m excited for Violent Delights. I have something in the works, regarding that story, with a really popular writer on Tumblr. Hopefully, it works out. I really hope it does, but I’m really excited for that story and I hope you guys are too.
13) Would you ever write for other groups that aren’t BTS?
I’m not sure. I really want to write girl groups, I think that’s my main thing. I think the yandere dynamic with women changes a lot. There’s this stereotype that most yandere tend to be girls, because misogyny, and whatnot but I really want to write a girl group. I don’t know which girl group…(thinks about it a little) eh, I kinda do. So yeah, definitely girl groups.
14) If you could do a collab, who are the top 5 writers you’d want to collab with?
The first two are the ones that got me into yandere or at least writing yandere, which are @sweetbunnykook and @chinkbihh. Min, @jooniescupcakes, I’d love to collab with Min. Recently I discovered, (by recently I mean two months ago) @taequois she writes some amazing yandere stories and she isn’t afraid to go there and I love that. I really like dark stories.
15) Are there any discontinued stories you can see yourself coming back to?
I would love to go back to Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. I’d love to go back to them and rewrite them - completely change them. I wouldn’t delete them perse, especially not Paradiso because that is the first story I ever wrote on the blog, but I think I’d reformat them and make them really long one-shots.
16) What’s your favorite animal?
My favorite animal used to a cheetah. I don’t really have a favorite animal anymore. The only animal that I can say that comes into my mind isn’t even real: it’s because I finished watching Avatar so a flying bison would definitely be my favorite animal. Realistically, maybe a cheetah and my second would be a cat (I really want a cat).
17) Would you ever write a hybrid story?
I would never say no, because I don’t know what the future entails, I’m just uncomfortable with hybrid stories. By that I don’t mean that they make me uncomfortable, I mean that I don’t know enough about them to feel comfortable writing them. There was a while between me saying I was going to write an ABO story and then me actually writing Lilies of the Valley because I had to do a lot of research. Search thinks like tropes because I really wanted to avoid a lot of cliches. I actually read and there are a lot of really good hybrid stories. So, I don’t know if I would ever write it. I am open to it, but I have a lot of works in progress right now.
18) Is there anything that’s a hard limit for you?
Yes, I think I could never write sexual assault. I know a lot of my stories feature dubious consent because of the situation the protagonists are in, but I don’t think I could ever write explicitly sexual assault. So that’s definitely a hard limit for me.
19) When is the next part of pon coming out? Before or after you finish lotv?
The reason pon has taken so long is that I have to catch up from where the second part ended to the end of the one-shot. Part three is essentially the one-shot. Obviously things are going to be different, but from where the story ended to the end of the one-shot which is insane. It’s a lot. Pon only has like five parts, I wanna say, so it’s definitely a lot. I have some of the outline worked out, but it’s a lot.
I can’t say right now if it’s before or after Lilies of the valley. I have most of Lilies of the valley written, I don’t think there is going to be more than ten chapters - maybe twelve at most. I want to say a mid to late June deadline is what I have right now. My plan is to put out prince of nothing part three and then the day after put out Violent Delights. So look forward to that, please.
20) Do you see yourself doing this in the long run?
I wanna say yes, I’ve only been here a year and it feels like such a short amount of time looking back because so much has happened. I never thought I would reach 2k followers. I never even really thought I would reach 1k, to be quite honest. So, I see myself doing this for maybe one more year - I don’t know. With the way things are going on in the world, things are difficult but at least now I have time. Time to write, even though god knows sometimes I just can’t.
I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. I really enjoy doing this and it makes me really happy. I feel like I have a safe space on this blog to go to when things get tough in life and I’d really like to thank you all for giving me that. For giving me a platform in which I could express myself and share my stories because for the longest time I thought that no one really wanted to hear them. So, again I’d like to thank you all so much for that.
Okay, so that’s the end. I’m sorry that this was a little long, I will have a transcript (this right now). So again I’d like to thank you all again for 2,000 followers. There is a lot more coming, I have a lot of surprises planned for you guys that I am currently working on. I’m recording this on Friday and plan to upload it on Sunday. Again thank you all, this is Cloud signing out. Kisses. Bye.

Get to know the Writer Tag!
Tagged by @lmorasey! I love doing these, so thank you!
Rules: Tag 10, Answer 10, Write 10
1. What do you think is the best character you’ve ever written?
It’s hard to say. Literally all my characters are willing to throw down for their loved ones, so they’re all awesome in thei rown right, even the baddies. Well, excpet Barjees, he’s a d**k (censored for any potential kiddies who happen to wander by)
2. What was the plot of the first book/story/poem you ever wrote (for fun)?
I don’t remember my very first book, but I do remember trying to staple like an entire ream of paper cause I was convinced that was how books were made. Then I was going to write the book like that.
Aside of that, the first ‘book’ I can remember was a book called Ding Dong, it’s King Kong. All I remember was a grouchy lady who King Kong (who was pruple like Grape Ape) with rollers in her hair that was annoyed at King Kong ringing her doorbell all the time when he wanted to crash at her place. Eventually they became neighbors I think, idk, last I checked my grandma had the book. She brought it out a few holiday’s ago it was mortifying
3. Do you ever base your characters off of real people in your life?
If I do it’s accidental. I just think it would be awkward, cause then I would think of my character when I see that person something stupid.
4. What is your favorite thing about writers?
Idk, I mean, everything? Getting so wrapped up in fictions its like being a kid and playing and having to shake away the remnants of stories of pirates and dinosaurs and whatnot when we hear the call to dinner and we finally look around at the real world.
5. Have you ever co-written something with someone else?
Nope. Unless you count essays. Different writing styles screw things over regardless, but I do think it would be fun to do a book though.
6. Is there another book/series you’re worried you’ve derived too many of your ideas from?
A slight worry is Percy Jackson, though I must admit I never finished the second series. Even though for some of my current wip and the sequel I’m using the more archaic forms of the gods, that doesn’t mean I want to accidentally copy Rick Riordan.
7. What was your inspiration for your current WIP’s title?
Dude’s name. Icarus. Earlier I was thinkng Icarus and the Minotaur, like mimicing Theseus and the Minotaur, or When Wings turn to Dust, when I was listening to a lot of Kansas. I still don’t know if I’m going to go with any of these of just find something else though
8. Do your character names have specific meanings behind them, or are they just names you like?
Well, my OC’s get swanky names from baby websites that either A) sound cool, B) have cool meanings) C) both or D)what’s their name again?
9. How often do you typically write?
Not every day. I try for at least every other day, but that doesn’t happen either. Life is busy, and there are some days I make it and other times I can’t write for a week.
10. Does writing tend to calm you down or get you worked up?
A little bit of both. Sometimes I get stressed like I’ll never be able to finish this, and other times I’m like yeah, in the zone. I can do it, like that corny train from those kids books.
Tagging! No big if you don’t want to do it though.
@ahotpeaceofshit @writingmyselfintoanearlygrave @couchwriting @luckycatsidereus @pagesintransit @tokyoghoulua @onmywaytobe
and anyone else since it’s 12 in the morning and I’m running out of steam.
heres the questions
1. What is your favorite writing snakc/drink, if anything.
2. Do you keep your writing a secret or do you share it, either here or irl.
3.Would you ever want your book made into a tv show or movie? if so, which?
4.Have you ever based a wip off of something incredibly ridiculous, wrote a bit of it, then thought, hey I might be onto something here?
5.Have you ever written in a coffee shop?
6.What’s your longest running wip?
7.Do you have any idol authors?
8.What is your fav trope?
9.What is a thing you’ve noticed, either in your writing or in other peoples, that are tells, like something that marks them or you, as the writer. Scenes, motions, etc
10.Create your own question

STUDY    :    CHARLOTTE     .    tagged by .   @aestva , thank you !   tagging .  @sangrantc , @chilledspines , @traumnas , @seraphids , @sanctamater , @icomply, @stealsyou, & anyone that would like to have this!
Tumblr media
—    basics
▸     is    your    muse    tall    /    short    /    average ? charlotte is outstandingly,   immensely averaged height.   standing at five foot six.   and she normally doesn’t wear heels or anything to augment her height.
▸      are    they    okay    with    their    height ? she has no complaints.   tall enough to get on rollercoasters,   not too tall that she has a hard time blending into crowds,   but not too short that ‘yeah,   she was short’ can be used to describe her.   it’s a good and convenient medium.
▸      what’s    their    hair    like ? blonde.   at it’s most accurately perceived,   it’s a very warm and sunny blonde   -   just on the verge of being golden,   but not quite so shimmery or bright.   however,   it can also be perceived as near - white,   bright yellow,   ashy blonde,   dirty blonde    -   but for some reason,   never strawberry - blonde.     the length is variable :    with the shortest overall length having the tips just over her collarbones   and   the longest overall length having the tips below her ribcage.     she has a lot of hair,   but the strands themselves have average width.     she doesn’t do much to take care of it aside from washing it with cool water,   shampoo,   and occasionally conditioner if she can get her hands on it.     it’s often tousled and tangled,   making it appear voluminous.     her split - ends are plentiful.     she also doesn’t often style it,   and if she does,   she might need a helping hand ;    otherwise,   she wears it down and wild,    but also likes to pull it up into a tight ponytail when working or it’s hot out.     it’s soft to touch,   but too knotted to run your fingers through.
▸     do    they    spend    a    lot    of    time    on    their    hair     /    grooming ? like i said above,   not really no.     just basic hygiene.     sometimes,   putting it up into a ponytail or tucking it under a hat is her way of styling it.    charlotte learned early on that no matter how much she might brush her hair,    it’ll always get knotted very quickly.
▸      does    your    muse    care    about    their    appearance    /    what    others    think ? to an extent and for conditional reasons,   yes.     similar to her mindset when it comes to her average height,    charlotte knows it’s better for her and her plans if she can blend in.    so,   going around looking like a terrible,   disheveled mess doesn’t really help with that.    but at the same time,   she’s not looking to impress anyone with her looks or appearance either.     she dresses for her comfort and wears the pieces she’s picked up at thrift shops with a sort of subdued pride.     she likes the way she dresses,   and while she does see the benefit of dressing up nicer  /  fancier every once in a while for a specific purpose or to fit in or to attract others,    she’s not going to do without good reason.     she cares if others can pick her out of a crowd,    but she doesn’t care whether some passing stranger dislikes her slightly mismatched and sometimes ill - fitting outfits.
—    preferences
▸      indoors    or    outdoors ?     depends,   she spends a lot of time indoors in creepy places and whatnot.   but ultimately ,  she does prefer the outdoors.  ▸      rain    or    sunshine ?      sunshine . ▸      forest    or    beach ?      forest . ▸      precious    metals    or    gems ?      precious    metals . ▸      flowers    or    perfumes ?   perfumes because those are fun to collect meanwhile flowers die and that’s boring . ▸      personality    or    appearance ?      personality . ▸      being    alone    or    being    in    a    crowd ?   being   in a  crowd!  ▸      order    or    anarchy ?     anarchy ... duh . ▸      painful    truths    or    white    lies ?   painful   truths . ▸      science    or    magic ?   magic ,   but science is kind of like magic to her anyways so . ▸      peace    or    conflict ?   conflict . ▸      night    or    day ?   night . ▸      dusk    or    dawn ?      dawn . ▸      warmth    or    cold ?   warm,   but she only ever gets cold  . ▸     many   acquaintances    or    a    few    close    friends ?      a    few    close    friends ,  but many acquaintances is better for business and chaos... ▸      reading    or    playing    a    game ?      game .
Tumblr media
—    questionnaire
▸      what    are    some    of    your    muse’s    bad    habits ? really poor sleeping schedule :   she’s not extremely sleep deprived or anything,   but her circadian rhythm has been out of whack since day one and she’s only making it worse.    sometimes goes without sleep for days only to sleep for nearly 20 hours afterwards,   or only takes a couple naps through the day for weeks , sleeps during the day,   sleeps in improper locations and uncomfortable positions.     she also has a bad habit of constantly snacking.     another one is that she has a tendency to ask off - putting  /  rude  /   unanswerable questions,   which usually kills conversations.     and another one would be that she tends to become invested in people ;   meaning she doesn’t just stop at deciding that they’re going to be a victim or whatnot,   but actually become invested in their lives and begins to care for them  (  but never enough to leave the desire to ruin their lives and sanity behind  ).
▸      has    your    muse    lost    anyone    close    to    them ?      how    has    it    affected    them ? over the past five years,    there have been a handful of people that charlotte did get close to,   but still destroyed in the end.     in her warped perception,   she doesn’t count these people as losses,   even though that’s exactly what they are.     the void has got her thinking that these people are losses but her winnings since she ‘beat them at the game,’    but very little is done to address that fact that every time she loses a friend or lover,    she goes deeper into her loneliness.     most of charlotte’s emotions are regulated properly ;    either they are disproportionate,    inappropriate,    too long - lasting,   or too brief.     and when it comes to things like grief,    charlotte never makes it through the process of emotions because it all gets warped and twisted.     all of this affects her in two ways.   one  -   she is learning to avoid investing care,   fondness,   and love into people ;   that is,   she will still attach to others but in the same way a parasite will attach to a host   /    and she will still invest in people but again,   the same way farmers might invest in livestock that are meant for eventual agricultural processing.    and two   -    for the people and times where she can’t help but fall in love with,    she’s going to do her darnedest to save them from ruination.
▸      what    are    some    fond    memories    your    muse    has ? honestly,   these are rare.   very  rare.    there was the time she saw her first snowfall  /  her first hot chocolate,   the first time she and pen/ny/wise showed potential in being able to work together and crashed some poor kid’s birthday party,   there was a quiet night that she spent with teddy when they snuck into a library and spent the night reading,    most memories involving @ensavaged in our au.    and honestly,   any sweet and calm moment that char might have shared with anyone or any muse here....it’ll fall into that category.    her life is constant chaos and confusion,   any moment where she isn’t actively nauseous from reality warping or seeing someone’s sanity melt in front of her is a nice moment.    that being said,    there are a lot memories that she is proud of....although not necessarily fond of ;    things like her first kills,   or that one time she watched a dude have a total meltdown in front of her,   or the time she scared someone so badly that they tried to run and fell down their own marble staircase and died.   so.
▸     is    it    easy    for    your    muse    to    kill ? as easy as it is to kill any human.     but some difficulties might be the fact that you might think it’s not possible to kill someone that’s not really there,    or you might forget she exists and forget to kill her.    or you might take a swing but it turns out she was actually standing behind you or across the room.    maybe you can’t bring yourself to kill her because you don’t know why you should,    you don’t realize her for the monster she is,    or you believe you must be mistaken because charlotte,   the charlotte you think you know,    doesn’t deserve to die , does she?    and ultimately,    seeing as she will be reassembled by the void and its handy - dandy dark matter after being killed....  does that really count as a kill anyways?
▸      what’s    it    like    when    your    muse    breaks    down ? there’s two ways that charlotte breaks down :  the first is when she mcfucking loses it and snaps  -  this happens occasionally.    and the other way is when she is over - wrought with unregulated instability and despair.     but let me tell you more about that first one,   where she snaps and loses her grip on the little self - control that she has.    this almost always results in a violent,   homicidal,   cold - blooded,   and senseless display of untethered and unreasonable rage.     here,   charlotte is blinded with red and fully becomes chaos’ vessel.    in this state,   she’s killed with her bare hands before,   destroyed property,   and broken her own bones and limbs.   she’ll scream and hiss,    uncaring about how terrible the things she’s hurling at others may be .   but the worst part is,   because her physiology and tied to the chaos / entropy,   in this state,  reality doesn’t stand a chance.     it’s torn apart and ruined,   chaos abounds and confusion overwhelms.     in that moment,   charlotte is truly the void and its entropic forces come to wreck havoc,  and there’s very little one can do to bring her back from this.    eventually,   she just passes out or hurts herself so badly that she can’t continue.
▸      is    your    muse    capable    of    trusting    someone    with    their    life ? yes!     often does so when working with partners in crime.     of course,   she doesn’t just give the trust away,   but it’s not terribly difficult to earn either since it’s only under specific conditions.    like ‘we’re not gonna get this job done unless we stick together and watch each other’s back so for now,   you got me and i got you ok!’     but charlotte also knows,    from instinct and experience,    that most people will likely betray her.    she used to giving out the trust,   but also used to being wrong and having to defend herself later on.    to her,   it’s all apart of the game and it’s not that big of a deal.
▸      what’s    your    muse    like    when    they’re    in    love ? down - right,   embarrassingly,   and pathetically cheesy.    just go on tv - tropes dot com and look up all the tropes in every rom - com and sappy romance ever and you’ve got her.     there’s the way she probably can’t get you out of her mind,    constantly missing you even though it’s been 1.5 seconds since she saw you,    wanting to keep in touch as much as possible,    clingy.     she enjoys your company no matter the activity.     she gets all smiley and giggly.     loves listening to you,   loves sharing with you,    loves supporting you.     will take so many pictures,    will hold your hand ,    will be the Most Playful.     she will cherish you,    try to know and memorize you down to the tiniest most insignificant detail.     will hurt when you hurt,   will laugh when you laugh.     she wants to do her best to look after your well - being despite knowing that her presence is actively ruining you.     thinks the world and more of you,    and will be absolutely devastated when she ultimately destroys or kills you.

Female Vietnamese-Chinese-Australian
My dad is Vietnamese, but his parents come from China. My mum is from China, but she moved with her family to Hong Kong from an early age. They speak Cantonese (or as you otherwise might know it, traditional Chinese) as a main language, although they can speak (simplified) Chinese too. I was born and raised in Australia so I identify as Australian as well as Chinese and Vietnamese.
My area has some Asians, but you can get other PoC showing up too and as a writer, I like to embrace that (that’s why this profile exists). However, most people here are non-PoC, Australia being a former British colony and whatnot.
Clothing
Hand me downs. When your dad has 10 sibings and 2 of them are about an hour’s drive from your house, you can’t deny that’ll happen. However, I do get new clothes every now and again.
Food
My family does have a habit of eating rice and/or different Chinese styles of noodles a lot for dinner, but we eat pasta and other cultural foods every now and then. A typical lunch is normally a sandwich or fast food, while breakfast can be anything from dim sims to toast to apple pie (I think the apple pie is just a scrounge-for-money excuse on my mum’s part though).
We do eat Vietnamese food for dinner (a cold vermicelli dish with mint/lettuce, fish sauce and soft shell crab/spring rolls/cha lua/surimi scallops - or a combo of those - known verbally as something along the lines of “moong” to me, although I don’t know its proper name or spelling) or lunch (banh mi or pho), although the likelihood of having Vietnamese food for any given meal is significantly rarer than Western-style food/rice and normally it’s my dad who’ll eat pho.
We used to go out for yum cha for lunch (despite it being breakfast in most cases in Hong Kong) every now and again. When we’re in Hong Kong though, my maternal grandma makes us go to yum cha for breakfast and then to the same restaurant for dinner. There’s one dish I love from yum cha specifically (prawns in cheong fun with soya sauce) which is often on the menu and why I don’t mind yum cha in most cases.
My mum loves Japanese food, but my dad doesn’t like most raw things (I had a childhood friend whose mother used to work at a sushi shop, so we got lots of discounted food - it didn’t help my dad one bit) so me and my sisters have grown up eating sushi/okonomiyaki/sashimi and we’ll eat this stuff on birthdays or special occasions. That’s how we get into anime and learning Japanese at school.
Holidays
My family is atheist, with a mild exception on my smallest sister’s part (she believed in the optional religious education classes a little too much, and so is a bit more insistent on Christianity). We normally go out to Chinese New Year celebrations in our vicinity (we normally buy the spiral potatoes on skewers and/or batter-coated octopus tentacles and eat them if not collecting freebies). We’ll eat mooncake, tang yuan or the like as a celebratory food around the relevant holidays, although we do sometimes eat them out of season if the food is around and cheap. We don’t take days off around Chinese New Year like Chinese are supposed to, but we do take breaks around Easter, Christmas etc. because schools, supermarkets etc. close on those days.
Red pockets (actually red envelopes, they have money in them) are a custom for birthdays, Christmas, New Year, weddings and Chinese New Year. If your birthday is close to one of the other listed holidays, you get one instead of two (see this profile for explanation). There is no set amount for the others, but normally for a 20-something-year old the cap is about AU $50 (we send the equivalent in American money to American relatives, but that’s less often than the ones we see in person and remember the birthdays for), and for weddings you should give more than that.
We take basically any excuse to get together with extended family and Asian family parties are never dull. The adults, especially, gossip long into the night and if they bust out the alcohol, they go home at midnight or 2 am because…obvious reasons.
Identity issues
I thought, when I was younger, my surname was Chinese, but it turned out to be Vietnamese put through American pronunciation. I told my friends…and they didn’t give any reaction. Either they took it in their stride or just continued to think I was Chinese/Chinese-Australian like them.
I’ve been to Vietnam and Hong Kong on family trips before and for some reason, even though Australia is “home” to me, when all the people look closer to what you do and experience life similar to what you do, you feel like you’re “at home” in a weird sense. Can’t speak a speck of Vietnamese and my Cantonese and Chinese have fallen out of good use though, so I’m just berated by older relatives (in Cantonese and most times to my parents’ faces) when I visit them and speak in English.
I’m a bit more tan than my sisters due to neglecting sunscreen on sunny days, but my dad used to joke to me and my sisters that I was Filipino/Indian and looking back on it, that was pretty toxic. (It was also kinda hypocritical because he’s tanner than me, but he never pointed that out.) Some other people may get offended at being called “banana” or “ABC” (Australian-born Chinese), but me and my sisters can take it as a joke.
Talking about the Vietnam War is kinda awkward for me, as my dad escaped from it in his youth. I learnt about the war while doing an international studies course and being to Vietnam - there was this aura of coldness around it all the while and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it.
Language
I was taught Cantonese from birth, but Australia being as it is means English is my default. I had to learn Chinese and Japanese from language schools and school courses.
Hong Kong was British up until 1997, so there’s lots of English (the language, the people aren’t that common there) around and it’s easier to get by there (for me) than Vietnam. Vietnam was French in the 1800s so my dad knows limited French, but I’ve never learnt French.
Study
I used to try and keep up with my parents’ standards of “play piano!”, “get good grades!” etc. etc. but as time wore on, I found I didn’t want to. In the end, I found they’re not too worried, so long as I do well in what I want to do and pass in what I need to do.
…I’m also a proud procrastinator, as bad as that is.
Micro-aggressions
Notice how I’ve used “Cantonese” as a term for traditional Chinese, and “Chinese” for simplified? Cantonese and Chinese are completely different beasts. (I can get kinda picky about it, even though “Canton” is a somewhat whitewashed term and doesn’t refer to Hong Kong per se…I use the terms because I have no better way of distinguishing between the two.)
Tropes I’m tired of seeing
Kung fu Asians. Not all Asians are willing to whip your butt into shape with martial arts - most Asians wouldn’t know martial arts. For that matter, tai chi/taekwondo/karate/gong fu do not equal each other (yeah, Karate Kid with Jaden Smith is a misnomer).
Things I’d like to see more of
There’s one show I thought was fairly accurate in depicting a life like mine, and that’s The Family Law. Showing more family dynamics like that would be great.
I’d also like to see close siblings, regardless of genre, gender or race. (Not twins or OreImo, either - that’s a little too close.) I’m very close to my older sister, to the point where if we weren’t blood related, we’d be best friends.
It’s a weird demand, but regardless of where your story’s set or who it’s aimed at, I get kinda disappointed when people have an eating scene and they could check up some weird and wonderful food for it - for a workplace or school scene, a sandwich can make sense and it’s fine, but for one example, in fantasy feasts people eat “boar meat” and sometimes I wish they’d eat char siu instead of being so generic. Just do your research properly, spell the words properly and it’ll fit right in if it’s appropriate and/or relevant.

Allen’s Seinen Adventure
Well... it’s finally happening, I’m finally talking about Seinen manga like I said I would last month. This is my first time talking about manga specifically and tagging it, so... hello manga readers and fandom people reading this, as well as my usual followers that like these sorts of essay-type posts I do when I’m not shitposting about Blazblue. For those that don’t know, I’m Allen X, I post little essays about niche fandom stuff I’m into on tumblr called Ramblings, and every so often try to write stories and fanfics when the mood hits me. A month back I made a post saying I was going to talk about Seinen manga since I’ve reached that lovely age of 23 where theses types of manga would interest me given my age group. I’ve been buying more and more manga in this genre as of late and I wanted to give my thoughts on the ones that have grabbed my interest and why I like them.
In my last Rambling on this topic I said I was going to try and make separate essays for each Seinen manga I wanted to talk about, but... I can’t. I just can’t. I realized it when I talked about Symphogear, I really don’t feel comfortable breaking down manga and anime the way I do with video games. I don’t know, video games are more inclusive and universal than anime and manga. When I talk about video games, gameplay, enjoyment factor, and so on, I feel like I’m talking on a level that everyone would get, at least every gamer. With manga and anime... it’s kind of niche genre, especially the stuff I’m into, so to try and talk about them in the same manner of general appeal and interest just doesn’t feel right to me. Plus, God forbid I miss something super vital about an anime or manga from my western perspective and get roasted for not understanding something in context and harping on it... God, that’s a fear I have every time I tag a Rambling.
In any case, I figured I’d do this in the style I do my Anime Updates. I’ll give a brief summary of each manga, say what I like about them, what I don’t, and if I think others should into it. So, let’s get started.
Oh actually, before I get started, just gonna’ warn everyone now that since I’m talking about Seinen manga, sexual content is bound for all that I talk about. I won’t be showing pics or anything, but just know these are +18 rated manga. Anyway, back on topic...
Tumblr media
So, first up is Murcielago. If I had to give this show a western comparison I’d say the show Archer would be a good one. Now, I’ve only seen bits of season 1 of Archer, but I think the idea is the same. Murcielago is about a State Appointed Executioner named Kuroko Koumori, a former serial killer turned government agent, and the adventures she goes on with her loli sidekick and driver Hinako as she kills, slaughters, and executes criminals just as, if not more, dangerous than she is, as well as attempt to bang every female without a two-mile radius. Actually, now that I think about I think Killer is Dead is better comparison for this manga. Now if only Kuroko gets voiced by Patrick Seitz if an anime comes out...
I don’t know, there’s just something engaging about watching this sex-addicted, murderous lesbian go about her day. This is sort of a popcorn read, something wacky and ridiculous that just makes you laugh. The gore is over the top, the situations Kuroko gets into are just so nonsensical that you can’t help but laugh at them, and the way she gets out of jams and gives out cheesy one-liners just makes me think this manga is just a hyper-violent, hyper-sexual action movie with an sociopath protagonist. And I'm always cracking up a little when I see Hinako react to all the hyper-violence going on around her. The fact that Hinako is so innocent and carefree despite who she works with is actually pretty endearing. I like how she’s, for the most part, an innocent little loli just having to put up with all of Kuroko’s shit. I hope it remains a running gag that Hinako is at most just inconvenienced by all the violent, sexual nonsense around her and is never truly effected by it.
Like I said, this manga’s a popcorn read, and if you need some crazy, B-tier action movie nonsense in your manga collection, I recommend buying this when you can. The second volume is out and it concludes the Murder House arc. I’m looking forward to volume 3 and seeing where it goes from there.
And since I’m sticking this in the Murcielago tag, yes Murcielago Lamborghini fans, Kuroko does, in fact, drive Murcielago Lamborghini. Well, Hinako drives it specifically, crashes it every other chapter, and Kuroko buys her a new one in the following chapter... I hope that remains a running gag too.
Tumblr media
Next up is Ubel Blatt, AKA, Not-Berserk.
Now, before everyone tells me to stop reading this and start reading Berserk just hear me out. The main thing keeping me from reading Berserk is the fact that it’s currently on volume 38 here in the West, and I’m not sinking money into an on-going manga that’s ran that long. My personal rule for long-running manga is that if it exceeds past 18 volumes I either stop at 18 or whatever arc I feel is a good stopping point and wait until that manga finishes, or I have a damn good reason to pick it up again and sink all that money back into something that could get put on hiatus at a moment’s notice depending on that artist’s health and condition. Berserk... is just too risky an investment for me to get into, and Ubel Blatt’s plot is telling me that this manga’s gonna have a clear ending at some point, likely around the volume 15 mark, so I’m choosing this one for my edgy, medieval, violent story... thing. I was scrolling around the tags a bit for Ubel Blatt to get a consensus on this manga and saw a few people essentially calling this a poor man’s Berserk. Well folks, since I’m poor as hell I’ll glad sink money into what is currently at volume 10 and not play catch up with Berserk until it finishes.
Now, onto the manga itself,  I find Ubel Blatt interesting in that this series has a very clear goal and that main character is making clear strides in accomplishing that goal. The main character, Koinzell, simply wants to avenge himself and his fallen comrades after being betrayed by his former allies. It’s... basically an even edgier Tales of Beresia except with a half-fairy-elf man instead of Velvet Crow. The world is already saved, but the ones that were sacrificed for that end are less than happy about it and want revenge at the cost of screwing the stability of the world over again. I’m on volume 3 at this point and I’m pretty hooked. It really does remind me of Tales of Beresia with out they show the heroes being flawed and even devious, but the public love them regardless... well, those that aren’t being enslaved by their rule anyway.
I especially like female lead, Aht. I’ve always like the warrior-princess archtype, and Aht is definitely winning me over with her loyalty toward Koinzell, even willing to change her body and appearance to help him in combat. My only regard about her is that we don’t get to see her in that badass black dragon rider armor she was wearing in the first few volumes when she was going to try and kill Koinzell for killing her brother. That armor just hit all my aesthetics for warrior princesses... but alas, I still like her though.
I believe this manga is up to volume 10 here in the States. Now I say 10, but it’s numbered 9... for some inane reason there’s volume 0 that is not a prologue volume, so please read, as it is mandatory to understand the plot... it’s the one thing I’m gonna’ knock about this manga, but it’s a good read so far. Looking forward to getting the rest on payday.

Alright, time to talk about a manga I’ve been reading exclusively online for awhile now. As of this point I know the light novel of Goblin Slayer is out in the West, but I’m... hesitant to get it since I was hoping the manga would come first, and I honestly prefer manga to light novels anyway, the only exception I made was Magical Girl Raising Project. According to Amazon a physical copy will be for sell around December and there is a digital version out, so I think I’ll get the digital copy as a way to support the series.
Anyway, Goblin Slayer is basically about... the adventures of a goblin slayer. Yeah, I know it sounds generic, but it’s good, I swear. In Generic RPG Video Game World #492, this fine fellow kills goblins and only goblins after they killed his family. He is basically medieval Batman if Batman killed. He knows everything about goblins and how to kill them, and with his party of a healer, an archer, a shaman, and a dwarf, he’ll make sure all of them pay for taking away the ones he loved.
This manga is a bit of a deconstruction of typical RPG tropes. If you guys are familiar with anime Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, then I’d say this is very similar to that, but with more mature themes in it. I found the world of Generic RPG Video Game World #492 rather interesting in how the goblins themselves are enough of a threat that they can kill newbie adventurers who are unprepared (and often are given goblins are seen as weak in this universe), but not enough of a threat for the higher leveled adventurers to bother fight them without high prices. It creates a cycle a of death and tragedy, real depressing stuff as the characters lament on their situation. The Goblin Slayer’s party members slowly start to understand why he hunts goblins and only goblins despite his rank, and the healer is such an endearing character. I like her interactions with the Goblin Slayer. Her innocence really compliments his gruff, silent nature, and she’s one of the few that can get more than a sentence out the guy save for his other love interest the Female Farmhand.
...

...
I know it sounds like I’m giving them generic names and whatnot, but manga really doesn’t give these characters names, like, at all. The Goblin Slayer is just called the Goblin Slayer by everyone in-universe, the healer is called Priestess I believe, and so on. It’s... really weird, but it works. I like where the story’s going so far, and it tempts me to get the light novel to see where things go from there. I’ll skim a few pages next time I head to the bookstore and see if the writing interests me.
Tumblr media
In name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Lord grant me strength as I speak about this manga.
So... Tsugumomo... where do I even begin with this one? I dread talking about this manga. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine, emphasis on guilty. I... don’t know if I can do this, but I’ll try.
Before I start, I’ll say this much, I like the premise. It’s basically a more Japanese version of Soul Eater. Special beings called, well, Tsugumomo, are objects that gain sentience after generations upon generations of use. Once sentient, they can take a human form and weaponize their original form so that exorcist can use them as tools and weapons to battle against evil spirits and demons. So yeah, basically a mix of Soul Eater and Twin Star Exorcist, other manga I happen to enjoy reading. And being the giant weeb I am, anything with a Japanese aesthetic to it is gonna’ get my interest. It’s how I got into Nioh, it’s how I got into Samurai Warriors and the Warriors series, so it appealed to me on a surface level. So when the anime came out, I watched the first episode and... immediately dropped the show there. The first minute had me clicking away to something else since it opened on a boob gag with middle school aged characters. However, episode 3 had a really good fight scene in it, I saw some gifs of it, and being a sap for a good fight scene, I gave it another shot. Episode 2 wasn’t that bad, episode 3 wasn’t either, but... I believe it was episode 5 that had me drop the anime again. I’m not against middle school aged characters discussing sexual topics, but... well, I can’t stand the first omnibus volume of Negima! for a reason. However, much like Negima! I decided to see if the manga was just as bad. After all, if The Sacred Blacksmith had talk me anything, it was that anime spin offs tend to play up the fanservice for the sake of making a quick buck. So i went to the manga to see if that was the case.
It was the exact opposite. The anime turned down the fanservice by quite a degree.
However... despite that, I’m still interested in the story. I’m going to spoil a bit from her, so be warned.
Much like with Negima! I skipped quite a few chapters, starting at around chapter 72, when they went into Kanaka, the main character’s mother, and Kiriha’s, Kazuya’s former Tsugumomo, past and relationship. I didn’t want to bother reading chapters of fanservice to get to what was interesting, so I skips around until I found something worth reading, and boy was this part worth reading. I found Kanaka to be real interesting character. It an interesting take on the whole “Too Strong to be Approached” angle. Or I really liked how she was emotionless until she was able to find a good opponent to fight and then essential became a more cheerful version of Blazblue’s Azrael, her strength being seen as something to be feared to the point of the Exorcist organization literally feeding her demons and evil spirits from their SSS-rank list just to make sure she wouldn’t try to take them out due to boredom. I liked how she trained her kids solely so they could give her a good fight when they mature. Her personality and how she grew in those chapters really hooked me to her character.
To read those chapters, get attached to those characters, only to realize both Kanaka and Kiriha were dead and that Kanaka’s son had to kill his own mother because of a mistake he made when he was younger... I was shocked by how invested I was already.
Also, there’s a tournament arc going on as of chapter 100, and learning about the exorcist academy and how they have different political beliefs in how Tsugumomo should be treated interests me as well, so there’s that.
With Tsugumomo I feel like it’s a Shounen manga trying to be a Seinen one by adding a bunch of nudity and sex scenes. Trust me, there are enough bare breast and sex scenes to be a hentai in this. And this very much much hits a nerve when it comes to my limits on fanservice. Dear god, the lewdness of this manga. I swear every chapter someone’s getting naked for some asinine reason or another. The sheer amount of underage nudity and sexual content is just enough to make me [RETRACTED]. Seriously, this the manga equivalent of Shadow the Hedgehog and the Dante’s Inferno video game. The mature themes in this manga detract more than add to the story...  Also, Kazuya’s character design makes me want to stab my eyes out, but that’s a story for another day.
Again, I didn’t read anything else before that, so if anything I think Kazuya’s abilities are a little OP since what was keeping him from his full potential was goddamn amnesia of all things, but... I’ll let it slide since I don’t have the full context. Much like Wanna’ be the Strongest in the World and Ikkitousen, I wouldn’t recommend this manga to anyone, I can’t do it with a clear conscience, but this is certainly a guilty pleasure of mine... and boy do I feel guilty for liking it.
Tumblr media
And lastly, to get the taste of Tsugumomo out my mouth, we have a good manga, The Scared Blacksmith. I’m gonna’ be brief with this one because talking about Tsugumomo drained me a tad, but...
I. Love. This. Manga.
I just finished it last week and I’m so glad I bought. I’m actually shocked this is a Seinen. Save for a bit of fanservice in a first few volumes and... the stuff that happened in volume 6, this manga’s actually clean for the most part. It’s mostly about the Knight Cecily Campbell and her life in the Independent Trade City... no, that’ really the city’s name. Okay, quick tangent, but what’s with these fantasy Seinen manga and their borderline parody location names? I know the names just serve a means to an end in the grand scheme of things, but... really?
Anyway, Cecily Campbell is a female knight joined the knight guard since she’s the only daughter of a noble family of knights, and... the story takes off from there. Again, Tsugumomo drained me a tad, but trust me when I say this manga is good. It’s got action, romance, a decent female character. I said this before in some of my other Ramblings, but Cecily is one of my favorite female characters ever. The anime didn’t do her justice... but anyway, this is a good manga overall. It fully out in the West so I recommend you all buy it when you can.
And so... on a lackluster note, I ended my rambling about Seinen manga. I’ll do The Sacred Blacksmith justice a later day. I’m beat now, so I’m gonna’ just... read some manga, maybe draw a bit... feel free to message me if you guys have question... I’m just... gonna’ be here. Phew, I’m tired now...

MUN QUESTIONS.
Q1 :   if  you  could  write  your  character  your  way  in  their  own  movie ,   what  would  it  be  called ,  what  style  would  it  be  filmed  in ,  and  what  would  it  be  about ?
A1 :  The movie would simply be tittled ‘Home’ and it’d be a kind of documentary about this wolf’s life, the struggles and good moments and how he built his pack from nothing up to the moment the monster attacked and destroyed everything he had worked so hard for. Not specifically high budget but would certainly have a lot of elements to make it look like so, lots of scenery and slow motion captures, close ups and beautiful scenes on the snow.
Q2 :   what  would  their  soundtrack / score  sound  like ?
A2 : More often than not just the sound of the night and nature: frogs croaking and rain falling; a river flowing, snow crunching under their paws; muffled and far away callings of other animals.
Q3 :   why  did  you  start  writing  this  character ?
A3 :  He started of as one of my very first oc’s, specially after I started drawing and was just doodling random scribbles and whatnot; somehow I ended up drawing the same wolfman over and over again and in the end I decided to give him a story. Though, that was many years ago, this version of him is pretty much completely redacted, almost a brand new character, yet the original idea and overall story is still the same.
Q4 :   what  first  attracted  you  to  this  character ?
A4 :  His superficial simplicity yet how complex he can be once you learn about his full story and feelings.
Q5 :   describe  the  biggest  thing  you  dislike  about  your  muse.
A5 : Since he was pretty much raised in the wild he doesn’t know what’s morally right or wrong on modern human society, so despite trying to live as a human he isn’t looking in the right places and could be molded in the wrong ways. What I’m saying is he’s too gullible and can’t seem to think anything a human tells him is wrong, even when it is obvious. It’s soooooo easy to lie to him.
Q6 :   what  do  you  have  in  common  with  your  muse ?
A6 :  We both can’t express our feelings properly, or are just too closed up sometimes.
Q7 :   how  does  your  muse  feel  about  you ?
A7 : “I like him.”
Q8 :   what  characters  does  your  muse  have  interesting  interactions  with ?
A8 : So far all of his interactions have been pretty interesting since all the characters he’s talked to so far are all so unique and different from the other. No thread is alike.
Q9 :   what  gives  you  inspiration  to  write  your  muse ?
A9 :  It’s a little weird to put it, but my own search for curiosity in human morals and motivations gives me a lot of inspiration to write a character that does the same thing from a different perspective.
Q10 :   how  long  did  this  take  you  to  complete ?
A10 :  A literal entire fucking day.
