My own Italian Remus headcanons:

First of all, his name is Remo (I'm not sure how to translate the surname, but it's either Lupino or Lupini)

He's from the South

Does not understand savoury breakfast, it just doesn't make sense

Every shop just closes to ealy in England according to him

Perpetually sniffly because of the cold temperatures in the uk

At 11 he though the height of comedy was translating people's names. The only ones that escaped from it were those with boring translations (Sirius becomes Sirio) or those whithout (Lily, it technically translates to giglio, but that's only for the plant)

He knows a fuckton of old british music because that's how his mom learnt English

Hope is like a weaboo but for England. Obviously Hope is not her name, it's like Cettina or something

Lyall doesn't know English. Nor does he want to learn. Unbothered king. His name is Francesco, but everyone calls him Ciccio. Or because of his surname, U Lupu

In Italy, wolves are not extinct like in the UK, so he has met wild ones before

He often starts his answers with sì, but the rest is in perfect English

He talks ridiculously posh, but that's just because his first language is a romance one

Everyone just assumes it's a good cook. Everyone is wrong

Everyone just assumes he's way smarter in Italian, but actually he's reached the level of fluency where he's an absolute idiot in Italian and keeps italianising English words instead of saying the correct Italian ones

He always complains that English swear words aren't enough. What do you mean you don't threaten to sodomize people's dead relatives? The worst you can say to them is to fuck off? Well that's not effective

Everyone compliments him for his tan, while in Italy everyone asks him if he's even ever seen the sun because of how pale he is

At first he used to switch to italian when tired or too in pain, but nowadays it's actually the opposite. It makes the moons with his father hell

anyway. hi :) prime defenders huh. this is gonna be less of an essay and more of a sleepy ramble but ohhh i have so many thoughts. they all process things so differently and none of them are good at it they all need therapy so bad. ms.g where is the hero therapy why didnt you build that into w.a.t.c.h ma'am

vyncent is probably the best at actually processing things out of all of them, he just internalizes everything to the point where he wont talk about it unless hes pushed past the breaking point. vyncent is actually very.. emotionally intelligent? i want to say mature but that feels like im singling him out because hes the oldest. i just feel like because he grew up on Fauna and had to be in basically survival mode in a world full of monsters trying to kill you.. that makes a person grow up quicker than they should. i think vyncent had a good childhood and for the most part his parents took good care of him but just.. living in that world doesnt seem like it leaves room for a whole lot of expressing emotions. vyncent is good at quick analysis of a situation, but unless a problem directly interferes with the current goal he doesnt externalize it to everyone else. but bottling up his feelings and emotions just builds up pressure over time until something like the lich makes him blow up and let it all out at once, usually in a dramatic monologue format bc condi is really good at those god damn it. also they played off the fact that vyncent said all of that to the lich and then missed his attack as a funny thing but i like to think of it as. he got too overwhelmed w his emotions and lashed out too soon it made his fighting messy. vyncent is so angry and honestly after what hes been through he deserves to be !!!!

william wisp. my boy. god hes just like me fr so much so that it physically hurts sometimes. anyway. i always think back to the scene where theyre all in the cabin talking about themselves/sharing backstories and william keeps desperately trying not to talk about himself. the fact that hes so ashamed of his powers he hides wisp form every time. two of his powers are LITERALLY a) turning invisible and b) turning intangible, usually as an excuse to leave whatever situation hes in ("accidentally" falling through the floor at opportune moments in season 1) . theres. a thing that happens at the end of episode 13/beginning of epidode 14 that youre really close to and i wont spoil yet but god it has to do with this so extremely much please come back to my inbox when you get there. youll know what it is trust me. um. yeah. so anyway. i think a lot of this comes from a place of. he doesnt want anyone to be scared of him. williams not stupid hes incredibly smart and insightful he knows his powers are objectively SCARY. hes scared of himself constantly, he doesnt want anyone else to feel that way about him, so he shifts focus whenever those aspects of himself are brought up because if someone were to think about it for any amount of time theyd realize the truth that hes scary and dangerous to be around (<< william logic. hey remember how one of the reasons he originally left deadwood was because the monsters there were attracted to the wisps and therefore Him so he left to keep his friends/family out of danger)

i think a lot about williams death and the immediate aftermath, i dont know how much you actually know and how much of this comes later but . how does he go home after waking up from that. his parents know about his powers, so they MUST know what happened. what do you think he told them when he god home muddy and dirty and broken and probably bloody after being missing for. god knows how long. how does he look his mother in the eyes and tell her her little boy is dead. but hes also not because hes standing right in front of her. how the fuck do you think he felt the first time he went into wisp form and saw his body laying there !!! of course he wouldnt want to talk about that!!!! youre gonna have to pry william wisps emotions from his cold dead hands !!!!!!!

dakota's response to the ashe situation was to run away in the woods and do nothing but train for 10 months. he didnt think about it for 10 months. i dont even have a whole lot to say about dakota other than like. stunned silence whenever his inability to process trauma is brought up because grizzly does such an incredible job at being like "you ask dakota how hes doing and his face is just blank" << paraphrased actual quote from an episode i cannot remember which one. either 11 or 12 ?

also because im thinking about him im including ashe in this. we didnt get to see a whole lot of his canon reactions to extreme emotional situations so a lot of this is just coming from My Mind but ashe seems like hed be the type to repress a lot of his emotions too. being alone in your house/in your room for extended periods of time will do that to a guy. i think he feels a lot of things and will probably very openly cry/scream/get angry when hes alone but as soon as he knows another person is there he can immediately flip the switch to turn it all off like nothing happened. very much a deadpan "im fine." if someone asks how hes doing, even if hes got like. the remainder of tear tracks down his face. cannot physically express his emotions in the presence of someone else

thinking about lester for once. and about how i usually don't think about him.

lester is the youngest child of a middle-class couple who could have done without having any children, never mind three. i see lester as being trudy and victor's marriage saving baby, their chance to have another go at that whole parenting thing, seeing as the twins turned out to be such hardwork. this baby, they think, will be easier. but then it turns out the sinclairs just... don't really like children.

lester falls to the wayside, because not only are his parents just not that interested in him, but the twins just take up so much of their time.

lester was destined to be overshadowed in life. how couldn't he be, when his older siblings stand out so badly?

they were conjoined twins, a quality which even now (let alone in the early 70s) is looked at with a certain sort of morbid curiosity. even after they were separated, vincent still bears the scars of "what" they were. bo is labelled as the "troublemaker" and, as they get older, he lives up to it. vincent is labelled as the "child prodigy" and, as they get older, he tries to keep living up to it. they cut a striking picture, six feet tall and hostile to outsiders. but it's not just that, they're weird. they have an interest in the macabre, they listen to loud music and as teenagers they were just about the only people under 50 who go to the matinee showings of baby jane and east of eden and house of usher the theatre puts on for the old folk in town. the twins talk to each other and nobody else understands.

lester, on the other hand, is unremarkable. he didn't need as much as the twins did in terms of extra care (which probably, ultimately contributed to his neglect). in all the ways that make vince and bo fundamentally strange, lester is fundamentally ordinary. and sure, maybe he's weird, but not in the enigmatic way that vincent is, or the intimidating way that bo is.

there's not a doubt in my mind that lester is interesting. his knowledge, his interests, his morals and his choices. all of these things make him interesting, but in comparison to his brothers -- the terrible twins -- he isn't interesting enough for people. people don't notice him.

lester needs someone who is enamoured with him, even with the twins casting their shadow over him. he needs someone who doesn't see the twins first and him as an after thought.

finally finished my creatchure tablet weaving (for use as a strap for carrying my water bottle / some kind of small bag that's not yet sewn)

The problem with my brain having been obsessed with knowing what fictional characters' singing voices sound like since I was a little kid, and especially now that I'm a vocalist as an adult, is that I can't listen to hardly anything without that voice in the back of my head being like "oh this sound. This specific moment in this specific verse or chorus or whatever. That's specifically what xyz character(s) would sound like!" And I hyperfixate on that for the rest of my life and I craft so many headcanons 😭

That being said, when he's singing seriously Atticus has an incredible voice argue with the wall. Atty has a very wide range but his voice really lives and thrives in the mid range. But he likes to sing higher pitches whenever he gets the chance and is very good at harmonizing. When he gets Chazz to sing with him he always let's Chazz take the melody as often as possible and harmonizes over him. He also plays like every fuckin stringed instrument and hosts weekly campfire jams for the J-Squad to unwind and hang out and de-stress ☺ he always schedules them around his and Chazz's Saturday night sleepovers so they never miss one 😌

Chazz can also sing but doesn't discover it until Atticus gets him to sing with him during like a campfire jam session or one of their regular hangouts. His voice is best suited for more mellow, slower songs like me wow wonder why I headcanon that 🙄. and everyone is very impressed by his vocals, but he gets huffy and embarrassed whenever anyone compliments his voice. In my head his vocal range is on the lower to mid range side and has a very nice rasp to it, especially on the lower pitches where it's a little more prevalent and compliments Atty's voice so they blend very well.

Jaden has the perfect pop punk voice. Just the perfect tone and range, perfectly unrefined sound for it too. But if anyone asked he would shrug and say he couldn't sing. Of course he can, but he doesn't particularly think he's all that good and doesn't really care if he can or not, it's not that important to him like card games are so he'd rather not call attention to it askskskks. His ego is reserved for card games and card games alone 🤭. But he always hypes up the others during Atty's campfire jams and he participates fairly often because he thinks it's fun and everyone else seems to enjoy it when he does so he's down for it. He also lives in the mid range but has a pretty strong upper register for belting out those pop punk classics 😌 Dear Maria is his now Alex

Alexis is an alto, she lives in the mid to lower register, she does have a little bit of an upper register too but she lives on the lower side. Her voice is very warm and soothing and mature and just nice af. But she's self conscious about it so she doesn't sing very much and almost never around other people. Leading to the theory that when the subject could come up she, like Jay, would says she couldn't sing but unlike Jay, she just isn't confident in her voice even though it's very good. Atty likes to nudge her to try and get her to sing with him at his campfire jams, but she always declines. He keeps trying though 🤭

Hassleberry has a surprisingly good voice, very warm like Alexis's and lives in the mid to lower register like her. If she sang, they would blend very well I think. He's private about his voice too, but he'd be fine if the crew find out about it. His southern drawl is still quite prevalent when he sings and it really elevates the gentle warmth of his voice. His vocals are unrefined and amateurish but they're still very strong. He prefers songs with simpler melodies and really thrives in softer, more melodious country/bluegrass music which isn't a surprise to anyone but the fact that his voice is so warm and gentle despite his rough exterior makes people view him in a different light. But in a good way 🙂 he's embarrassed at first when the J-Squad finds out he can sing, but he comes around quickly and has participated in a couple campfire jams himself every once in a while.

Syrus's isn't very different from his regular speaking voice at all I don't think. He has a very young sounding voice and he hates it. It's not bad by any means, he just feels self conscious about it like Alexis but also like he's self conscious about literally everything. Same my guy. That being said, he's a tenor. He has almost no lower register but he has enough of one 👍. His voice is very light, which he's also self conscious about. And he tends to stick to humming, he feels less embarrassed and self conscious that way and wouldn't die on the spot if anyone heard him. Also like me, if he is actually singing along to a song and it gets too low or he just feels like it's too low, he sings it up the octave.

And unsurprisingly at least to me, I feel like Bastion has the most old fashioned type of voice. His range is also very wide like Atty's is. He knows he can sing and is confident about it around strangers, but if anyone he knew heard him or complimented his voice he'd blush and get very embarrassed in an adorable way. Honestly he enjoys the compliments but he doesn't really know how to handle getting them for something not having to do with how smart he is, so he gets flustered when people compliment his voice, to varying degrees depending on how well he knows the person complimenting him or not. That being said, if you want anyone singing the old school classics at the Christmas party or some golden age musicals, you want Bastion.

Daily Log 4

Trying out (probably just temporarily) making short daily-ish notes about things, in an attempt to see if it helps me be more reflective or productive lol.

Activities: Woke up late because I went back to sleep with a headache briefly, then kind of struggled to focus all day ToT

Worked more on the aforementioned tapestry/painting type of thing. I've done the base layer of painting for the main image, now I'm lining in darker outlines. I wanted to finish the center art before getting into the intricate borders. Still haven't translated the text lol..

Made a small bowl and also a little box with a lid out of more avocado pits. Still just with random nail cuticle tool things and kitchen knives, as I don't have proper carving tools.

Finished editing and proofreading the new poll adventure post!! I don't have time to post it tonight because I need to get to sleep early but.. I have it Completely 100% Ready.. finally..

Also washed the clothes I got together yesterday. Called about the bloodwork. Sent an email to a doctor.

Reviewed some writing documents to get back into my game maybe?? (basically, I started working on a visual novel type game a few years ago, decided it was a huge project so kind of put it on the backburner for a while in favor of things that were more easily finishable/tangible. then later on a game website I play (similar to neopets or something, there are collectable little creatures, etc.) there was an opportunity for me to design a pet on site, so I made a smaller shorter visual novel centered around that, where people on the site have to play the game in order to earn the pet, and I have a google form for them to answer a few short questions about it. All of the feedback is quite positive (reached 200 responses a while ago! though still only like 4 comments on the itch.io page lol.. Mandatory Form vs. Optional Comments evil showdown), but sometimes I get commentary that's really enthusiastic and inspires me to start back working on the OTHER bigger game. The small game was kind of like, a proof of concept that was safe because I had a guaranteed audience, that has helped me gain more insight for the larger one.

Anyway, since I've abandoned the Main Large Game for so long, I have to re-read and review/probably rewrite A LOT of things just to pick it back up again as A Thing I'm Actively Working On, so it's another one of those tasks that I do maybe 45 minutes of and then realize it's going to take days and days and get discouraged lol..

Notable sights: Saw two cats in windows. No clovers. It rained a little today but I didn't get to go outside and see it. One of the pieces of asparagus in the fridge was like the size of a carrot, comically overgrown downright ridiculous looking asparagus. Maybe I'll get taller after eating it.

I have finally found #a weird hermit platonic best friend I'm compatible enough to live with and they are up in the attic doing their own weird little hobbies #but every once in a while I can call them down and tell them about an idea so we can bounce concepts off of each other. I somehow walk away #with no heartburn or stomach upset or nausea despite eating 800 plates of craving foods. It's cold and summer #does not exist anymore but not in a Catastrophic For The Earth type of way more in a like.. I am in a magical bubble #that only affects my direct vicinity and sheilds me from the temperature ever getting above 65F #(also I have a comfortable amount of money and good doctors and reasonable health etc. etc. but that's a given in any Ideal Scenario lol) #oughh... I just want to eat hearty breakfast foods and think about elves for 5 hours.. is that so much to ask #Why must... responsibilities... capitalism... limited time and no energy to focus on 100 projects at once... why these things... #ANYWAY #daily log

everyone who has been memeing about the USDA soil textural triangle for approximately the past decade doesn't even know the best part: there's another entire classification system that is far more widely used and more important

#admittedly I have a lot of issues with the USCS and I still greatly prefer the USDA system but there are benefits #The USCS is designed for and used by engineers and geologists who care almost exclusively about the physical characteristics of the soil #The USDA system is largely preferred by agronomists ecologists and soil scientists as it can give more information #(when done in conjunction with a full soil profile description #that tell you a lot more about soil characteristics and near surface geology than the USCS is designed to do) #(though if you're just texturing out of a box then yeah we're all using the same sieves) #ultimately i am begrudgingly forced to use one over the other and i'll admit it's a lot faster and more suitable for the scope of projects #one thing I'm definitely not a fan of in this industry is how obsessed with budget cost and scope/quality of work all the time #fuckin. if i have to deliberate on underbidding another phase i because nobody will pay a fair rate on them in this market i will scream

#other #t talks #the Drops yarn. #is on sale at wool warehouse. for 1.75 a skein. #so naturally i bought 30 #cause i didnt buy anything last month #and only bought the linen yarn the month before #and i dont plan to buy anything for at least the next 2 months if not even longer #but basically im stocking up on wool yarn #cause once i finish this current blanket. all the other projects i have to do will be a fucking cake walk. #theyre all basic knit and crochet stitches #when i tell you i am going to be like rock lee the second i finish this double sided colorwork blanket #i am about to finish all these other projects so fucking fast #and i want lots of yarn ready so i can cast on a bunch of projects once all these years old wips are finished!
