A bit of a unique proposal here! Okay, so I know blacksmiths aren't in the jewelry-making business, but this is really just a symbolic gesture. Penny's totally getting him an actual ring soon enough, one that'll work alongside his Union Battle ring. The important thing is the meaning behind this c: Funnily enough, Cypress was actually considering proposing to Penny soon as well, he was just beaten to the punch hehe.

Wish our reunion could be under better circumstances, but Daddy's got something wrong with him that's been eating at him for longer than you've been alive. And now I'm finally about to fix it! I'll do anything to experience a true Union for the first time...even if it means going toe to toe with my own kid!"

Y'know how almost all Pokemon protags don't have their father present in the game? Honestly I think the Hoenn protag is the only one whose dad actually shows up. Welp, now the Cantessy protag also has a dad in the plot--in an antagonistic role! This is Columbo, the protagonist's father, and an incredibly skilled trainer in his own right aside from one teensy tiny little factor. You see, through no fault of his own, he has never been able to form a Union with any of his Pokemon. It's not like he treats them badly, either, though given that serious mistreatment typically makes it harder to enter a Union Battle with a chosen Pokemon he has this cloud of being wrongly assumed to abuse all of his Pokemon hanging around him. Seems like he skipped town shortly after the player's little sister was born, and he's been desperate to find a solution to his problem ever since, even if it means seeking a dangerous Pokemon to force the issue...

Since he's the protag's dad, Columbo's skin tone actually changes based on what is chosen for the player character, like their mom and little sister. While the mom has the player's hair and eye color, Columbo's hair and eyes are consistent, and his hair and eye color are passed to the little sister.

Look, sometimes there's a miscommunication and you get the wrong idea with the same concept. Holly's not complaining about Laura wearing her type of bunny suit for any weird moral reason, she's a grown adult and all so if she's comfortable enough with her body and wants to dress in that sort of bunny suit she has no right to try and stop her. But they're in Sheeneland! It's colder than a well digger's ass for most of the year there! At least wear some insulated tights or something with this bunny suit, you'll freeze your buns off!! You can imagine that Holly's got plenty of insulation in hers, while we're thinking along those lines. Soft cottony full-body suit, prolly some extra thermal stuff underneath, good and cozy and WARM.

...would you believe me if I said that this was the pic that made me realize that the Cantessy Pokedex has no rabbit Pokemon in it? No Buneary, no Azumarill, no Bunnelby, nothing! Not even any bunny Fakemon! Wasted opportunity, we absolutely have buns here, geeeez... XD

Who are these guys, you may be wondering? New OCs? Teeechnically no, they're the irl counterparts to the Cantessy player characters as featured in my fic series! More Cantessy Halloween costumes with the consistent half of the Elite Four! The main prominent thing I could think of relating to anything "psychic", aside from fraudsters, is Psychonauts, and so I figured Sasha would make for a good basis for Cypress's costume. Meanwhile I couldn't think of many options for Penny, so I just fell back to the only fictional blacksmith I really knew of, the one working for the King of Town in the Homestar Runner cartoons XD

Pokemon Plow Version and Circuit Version - Chapter 12

Time for the fourth Gym battle! A spicy, zesty pair of fights! (Note for Circuit readers specifically: the "reality" portion contains heavy themes of transphobia and some mild anti-atheist rhetoric, so if you are not in the headspace for that at present, please focus only on the "gameplay" portion for now. It is an important addition to Briar's story outside of the "game"'s confines, so skipping it might lead to some confusion later on, but I'd rather my readers be confused than upset if it has to be one or the other.)

I have plans to rerelease the Cantessy Pokemon and characters with new artwork attempting to better fit the official style and more in-depth data for hypothetical gameplay on a side blog once I can get both it and a new Fakemon-focused Instagram account set up, and in preparation for that go ahead and follow @dogwood-research-collab if you wanna see that happen when I can get that started too!

REMINDER: Because I started working on this before even Legends Arceus was announced iirc, let alone Scarlet and Violet, no concept directly from either of those titles will be utilized, ie. no Wyrdeer despite Stantler being in the Cantessy dex, no new moves from either unless I legit don’t notice when looking up move data, no (conscious) nods to Hisui or Paldea whatsoever. That’s also why the characters in the “reality” portion will likely refer to Plow and Circuit as gen 9.

So yeah, this is where we've been trying to restore the Quaralith population. It's been going pretty good, but lately there's been some suspicious activity in that old ghost town down the way that's got some of 'em spooked. And me too, to be perfectly honest. Hopefully this isn't too much to ask, but could you check things out for us? Linda may not have the best opinion of me, but she has good reason. If you think she has a point then don't do this for me, but for the Quaralith. They'll appreciate it just like I would."

Hey, probably didn't expect to see any newcomers to the Cantessy region after so long, didja? Yeah, I had a postgame area planned and I'd designed new Pokemon for it and just...never did anything with the human characters in it for so long, hehe. Anyway, here's the current head of the Aspen Rehabilitation Lab, Professor Brett Aspen. He really doesn't seem like the type to be in charge of anything, kind of flaky and nervous and self-doubting. It doesn't help matters when his prior history of plagiarizing in school comes up, but he insists he's been on the straight and narrow since that incident, especially after seeing how badly it disappointed his father. Being the professor's kid may have gave him one more chance to clean up his act, but that's all he got.

Professor Aspen will arrive at Professor Chestnut's lab to ask for the player's help after they've become Cantessy's new Champion, and she is not happy to see him again after all these years. They went to college together, you see, and not only was she the fellow student he plagiarized out of what he claims was desperation...well, let's just say that his studies weren't the only thing he was cheating on at that time.

There is one bug Pokemon that Kora absolutely can't stand, and it's all due to a frustrating dorm experience when she was attending college in Unova. She's cool with Galvantula, funnily enough, but Joltik frustrate her to no end. Huh. Now there's two of us who have a personal grudge against an electric-type Pokemon from Unova.

No dark circles under her eyes, they wouldn't develop for a couple years or so XD

I have plans to rerelease the Cantessy Pokemon and characters with new artwork attempting to better fit the official style and more in-depth data for hypothetical gameplay on a side blog once I can get both it and a new Fakemon-focused Instagram account set up, and in preparation for that go ahead and follow @dogwood-research-collab if you wanna see that happen when I can get that started too!

Pokemon Plow Version and Circuit Version - Chapter 1

I've finally decided to bite the bullet. I've been writing this for the past year, and now that Scarlet and Violet have come out (and tbh even the promo material showed they went with a concept similar to what's in here anyway?) and here it is! A dual-fic for my fanmade Pokemon region! And not only dual-fic as in different versions, but I will be covering the players' "real lives" alongside their playthroughs of the new in-universe Pokemon titles! While the "reality" parts of each version do intertwine, it is fully possible to choose just one to follow if that's your preference, or read through both to get the full context of the "reality" sections and see the differences between the "gameplay" sections if you want. Either way you choose to engage with this, I hope you enjoy!

More Halloween costumes! I imagine this Halloween event takes place after the two Harrodsfield ladies have worked through their issues, hence why they're being friendly here hehe. Of course for Melia I had to go with...well, Melia, her accidental namesake. (seriously, my Melia was originally going to be named Ashley before I realized Melia was a name that'd been used in real-world contexts and basically had the same origin as Ashley while sounding much cooler) And I'm gonna be real honest, this was probably not the best idea for my workload. Puppy had sooooo much frustration getting that done in a timely manner. Good thing I didn't do for Violetta what I did for Laura last time, mostly because her accidental visual inspiration is more electric-themed than ghost-themed and I'd already done a Xenoblade 2 character with Holly's costume, so with this interpretation of Vivian being so simple I was able to focus more of my energy on the way more detailed outfit XD

(and yeah, I know Melia Antiqua's default outfit has long black socks instead of black shorts, but by the time I realized I'd misinterpreted my sketch while linking it was too late and tbh I think Melia Kearney would prefer to wear shorts under a dress that short anyway)

More Halloween costumes! It took me for-ever to choose something for Coco, and at one point I was considering having her dress as one of the Grandmas from Cookie Clicker, but the refs I could find weren't adequate so I went looking again. Then I was reminded that MySims existed, and that reminded me of Grandma Ruthie! After all, despite the mischievous nature of her type specialty, Coco would be more for the "treat" part of Halloween than the "tricks". No guarantees her Toffeenie didn't put something spicy in one of those cookies behind her back tho >:3c Meanwhile I knew Barbara would be the type to go for a "sexy" costume, and with witches being associated with Halloween and a couple playthroughs of Banjo-Kazooie (and Tooie) I'd watched still being relatively fresh in my mind, the version of Gruntilda from BK's bad end was a good direction to go in. I feel like that design was a bit bland tho, as without the green skin that's just a standard large-breasted attractive woman in a black minidress, so I added back in the witchy elements and striped accessories. Really brings everything together :3
