Round 2 Schedule and BONUS CHRISTMAS ROUND!
Hello everyone! Round 1 has wrapped up, and we will be entering Round 2 soon! But first, since it's December and not a single Christmas Island song was nominated for this tournament... WE'RE DOIN A BONUS CHRISTMAS ROUND FOR DECEMBER!

CANON VERSES.
young protége
Living in the shadow of the Keeper of the Code isn’t easy for the young Jack Sparrow, particularly when he’s left to fend for himself in the pirate haven of Shipwreck Cove and dismissed for his ambitions to one day command a ship of his own. He wants more than anything to leave the island, and his life, behind, conflicted as to whether piracy is really his true calling, but it is the arrival of a charming French captain that eventually forces Jack into a decision that will unintentionally change his life.
This verse covers Jack's upbringing on Shipwreck Cove, up until the age of twenty, and the Shipwreck flashbacks in The Price of Freedom. I primarily draw upon canon established in this novel, however I also take inspiration from Sins of the Father, one of the Young Jack series. I do not consider any of the other Young Jack books as part of my canon. As far as the flashback scene in DMTNT goes, I do incorporate it, but altered under certain conditions detailed in my DMTNT verse.
five sodding years of work
Press-ganged into the crew of La Vipère after being betrayed by friend and rogue pirate Christophe de Rapièr, Jack knows he cannot return to Shipwreck Cove without facing death for breaking the Pirate's Code. After escaping from the rogue ship, he and fellow crewman Robby Greene sign on to the East India Trading Company, working their way up the ranks as merchant sailors until Jack is offered captaincy of the Wicked Wench by the EITC Director for West Africa, Cutler Beckett.
This verse covers the roughly five year period of Jack's employment in the East India Trading Company. He is hiding his piratical past and playing a very convincing role of a law-abiding merchant sailor, so unless plotted otherwise, your muse should not recognise him as a former pirate.
freedom isn’t free. it comes with the highest of costs
Now branded a pirate and having lost his soul in order to raise the newly rechristened Black Pearl from the depths, Captain Jack Sparrow finally has everything he ever wanted. He’s a pirate, a captain and finally able to forge a legend that will be immortalised for centuries to come. However, that all changes when he begins searching for a way to find the long lost Aztec treasure of Cortez with his first mate, Hector Barbossa. This verse covers the two years of Jack's initial captaincy of the Black Pearl, up until Barbossa's mutiny.
a hard learned lesson it was
Betrayed and marooned on a deserted island after giving up the bearings to the fabled Isla de Muerta, with naught but a pistol with a single shot, Jack's spirit is hardened by revenge. After three days, he barters with rumrunners for passage out of his misery, but the path to regaining his ship is a long one, and he is still intent on living his life in the interim. This verse covers the ten year period prior to Curse of the Black Pearl. Jack does not have his beloved ship in his possession at this time, however that does not necessarily mean that he is ship-less.
the opportune moment
Arriving in Port Royal on the sinking Jolly Mon, fates align and, thanks to a blacksmith and a governor's daughter, Jack finds himself with the perfect leverage to secure his stolen Pearl from the hands of his mutinous and now-cursed first mate. His only issue, it turns out, are said blacksmith and governor's daughter and the small matter of the curse that needs to be lifted. This verse covers the entirety of Curse of the Black Pearl.
what bodes ill
Now reunited with his beloved Black Pearl, Jack knows all will be for naught unless he can find a way out of the soul debt he struck with Davy Jones thirteen years prior. Vexed and bearing a compass that no longer seems to work, Jack begins a desperate search for the dead man’s chest to use as leverage, or else be damned to the depths of the Locker for eternity should his time run out. This verse covers the period from the end of Curse of the Black Pearl through to Jack's death at the end of Dead Man's Chest.
close your eyes and pretend it’s all a bad dream
Returned from the land of the dead and determined not to end up there again, Jack resolves that the only way he can survive is to stab the heart of Davy Jones, thus becoming immortal and sailing the seas forever. However, while he's been gone, the Brethren Court has called all nine Pirate Lords to a convene in a meeting at Shipwreck Cove, while Cutler Beckett and Davy Jones have joined forces to take over the seas and rid them of piracy forever. This verse covers the majority of At World's End, following Jack's rescue from the Locker.
a pirate’s life for me
Following the destruction of the Endeavour, Cutler Beckett’s death and victory of the pirates over the Armada, Captain Jack Sparrow returns to his pirating ways, still seeking immortality after sacrificing his chance at stabbing the heart of Davy Jones so that Will Turner could live. When interacting with Jack, this functions as my DEFAULT VERSE: any unspecified canon threads will default to this point in his timeline.
Unless specified for a particular thread, I will ignore the very end of At World's End and Jack will STILL have the Black Pearl in his possession.
home is wherever you are
Canonically sticking to the end of At World’s End, with Elizabeth going on to bear Will a son, Henry, after he sails away on the Flying Dutchman to carry out his duty for ten years at a time. With the absence of a father in the young Henry Turner’s life, Jack slowly and unconsciously begins to fill that gap through his visits to Shipwreck Cove, which in turn become more and more frequent as he develops a bond with a boy he comes to think of as a son in all but name.
This verse leads directly into my DMTNT-era verse, set nineteen years later, and assumes a familiarity with Henry that is not present in the movie itself.
our sands be all but run
After hearing word that his first mate, Joshamee Gibbs, is being tried for his own crimes in London, Jack mounts a daring rescue attempt -- and ends up embroiled in a venture by none other than Edward Teach to locate and covet the spoils of the Fountain of Youth. In the process, he is reunited with not only an old flame, but his beloved ship, magically trapped into a bottle.
This verse encompasses the entirety of On Stranger Tides and the years afterwards, prior to Dead Men Tell No Tales, as well as any AUs where Jack is seeking the Fountain of Youth.
bad luck dogs you day and night
After a series of near-disasters culminate in the release of Captain Salazar from the Devil’s Triangle ( a once famed pirate hunter now cursed and out for Jack’s blood for trapping him in the first place ), Jack must team up with his stepson, Henry Turner, and the female astronomer Carina Smyth if he hopes to find the Trident of Poseidon – an object with the power to break all curses in the sea. Due to the issues I have with the continuity and characterisation of Jack in this movie, there are a number of alterations to canon detailed HERE.
beyond my beloved horizon
With both his ship and luck finally restored, and a family reunited on land, Captain Jack Sparrow has everything he needs to repair his shattered reputation once and for all. The only thing left is for him to figure out what to do with his simian namesake, now in need of a new master.
Just as a note, this is NOT my default verse.

Intimidate (Tales From The Heart)
Fandom: One Piece Rating: Teen Warnings: Blood, injury, minor character death(s) Characters: Shachi, Penguin, Law, Ikkaku
The Heart Pirates avoided frontal confrontation when they could. There was rarely any point to them; subterfuge worked so much better and also had the added bonus of not showing their hand to anyone that might be watching.
But they couldn't be avoided forever. Sometimes a battle loomed ahead and there was no real way to escape it. It was those occasions, when Law had enough warning, that he had taken to withdrawing his nakama's vital organs – heart, lungs, liver, kidney, stomach, and whatever else he had time for – from their bodies and depositing them in a secure vault he'd installed inside the Polar Tang for that exact reason.
It was one such day. While there was no guarantee of a fight, and Law hoped it wouldn't come to it, as they approached the docks of the next island there were a few too many pirate flags flying for him to take the risk. Organless, the Heart Pirates had disembarked and gone about their business, procuring supplies and keeping an ear out for any information uttered by a passer-by. Usually there was little to nothing, and this was no exception, to their private disappointment.
While information was scarce, conflict was not.
Shachi surveyed the scene in front of him with ill-concealed exasperation. He just wanted to get back to the Tang, call it a day and flop after reporting back to Law. Having his path blocked by several members of a crew whose flag he vaguely recognised – one of the not-quite Supernovas of that year, weren't they? Nothing special in the New World – was not part of his plan and he yawned, irritated. Unsurprisingly, the other crew weren't too impressed at his less than pleased reaction and took offense.
"Don't you know who we are?" one exploded, and Shachi shrugged noncommittally, somewhat amused by the hypocrisy, especially as at least he was wearing his jolly roger proudly on his chest where it should be clearly visible to the goons in front of him. If they'd seen it, they were ignoring it. Then again, they did have him outnumbered, from appearances (Shachi was well aware of Penguin trailing behind in the previous alley, Ikkaku just around the corner and Law himself a little way up the street). Taking his reaction to mean he didn't, he was subjected to a proud tirade of their identity, the identity of their captain, and some of their more 'impressive' feats.
Shachi had never understood the need for posturing. It just came across like a load of hot air to him, no matter what the crew's strength was. Then again, the first time he'd heard a bunch of pirates posturing it had been accompanying a slaughter he was never going to forget, so that probably contributed to his distaste.
"You've made your point," he drawled when they paused for breath. "Now are you going to let me through? I have better places to be." Things rubbed off on you when you spent twelve years with Trafalgar Law, including the penchant for winding annoying people up.
They were distressingly predictable, drawing hidden weapons and charging him as one. For a crew in the New World, it was hardly impressive, although as Shachi evaded the first strikes he had to admit that they did have the prowess to back their boasts up. Law wasn't going to be happy about him biting off more than he could chew, again, but Shachi knew his nakama would be drawn by the commotion so he was hardly worried.
Keeping his own blade sheathed for the moment, he swung out with a leg, turning the movement into a backflip as the first pirate dodged and another charged at him in a co-ordinated attack. There was an exasperated noise from behind him as he leapt up, directing the next pair to charge him towards each other. Annoyingly, they were experienced enough to not hit each other, but Shachi really needed to stop expecting that in the New World.
"You bitch!" he heard one of them curse, and grinned as Ikkaku's response was an impressive roundhouse. Penguin was also running towards the commotion, and as Shachi landed from his latest aerobatic stunt he found himself back to back with the older man.
"What did you do?" Penguin complained as the pair of them drew their knives simultaneously to parry the blades aiming for their faces.
"Nothing!" Shachi defended himself, pushing his initial attacker back and lashing out with his foot at another's abdomen. The connection was solid and he grinned as the man skidded back, clutching at his stomach while throwing Shachi a murderous look. Such things had stopped intimidating Shachi long ago and he just gave a cheeky grin in response before going on the offensive, catching his target off guard and slamming him to the ground.
"I don't believe that for a second," Penguin retorted, his blade coated black as he drove it between the third and fourth ribs of his current opponent. The man dropped and he turned his attention to the next pirate.
"You bastard!" The call was accompanied by the sound of a gunshot and Shachi scowled as he sidestepped the bullet. Bringing guns to a knife fight was cheating.
Even with one already down, and Ikkaku and Penguin backing him up, they were still outnumbered. Of course, being outnumbered meant nothing by itself, but while weaker than the Heart Pirates, the crew were no slouches and it wasn't long before the blood was flowing on both sides. Ikkaku was holding her left arm whenever the chance arose, while Penguin was favouring his right leg and Shachi was cursing the gash in his right shoulder, which was particularly annoying when he had to parry rather than dodge.
However, the Heart Pirates had one advantage over the other crew, and Shachi was the lucky – unlucky? Law was going to be mad – one that got to demonstrate as his shoulder gave out at the wrong moment and a knife buried itself firmly in his chest. He jerked, his body reacting to the fatal wound as if it was actually fatal, and he saw the other pirate's face split into a grin as he stumbled back a step.
The grin faltered when Shachi didn't topple, but rather straightened and transferred his knife to his left hand, dismissing his right shoulder as useless until Law got his hands on it.
"What was that supposed to be?" he asked, spinning the knife in his hand for a moment before finding his grip on it. Blood gathered in his mouth and he spat it out, his lips stretching into a grin. A single drop of the blood trickled down his chin, and the man stumbled back.
Another knife plunged into his back, and Shachi laughed, turning around to kick the culprit away.
"What's that face for?" he asked the first one to stab him, who looked like he'd seen a ghost. "Don't you know what I am?"
"If you can bleed you can die!" one of the pirates declared. Shachi neatly side-stepped his lunge and brought his own knife down on the man's back.
"A little scratch like this isn't going to do anything," Shachi helpfully informed the one still standing, stepping forwards into his reach. Instead of taking advantage of Shachi's proximity, the man stumbled backwards, face white as a sheet.
"Y-you-" he spluttered. "You- You're- M-Mon-"
"I'm a Heart Pirate," Shachi grinned, stepping forwards again. "It's going to take more that this to stop me." He put the man out of his misery with a neat slash to the throat before turning back to see how Penguin and Ikkaku were doing.
"You spent too long playing around," Penguin scolded, wiping his knife on one of his fallen opponents' tops. Shachi shrugged and immediately regretted it. His shoulder protested loudly, and while he'd hidden it from his opponents, getting stabbed hurt. He sheathed his knife before pressing his left hand to the wound in his chest, feeling the blood still trying to gush out. His heart might not be where it should be, but that didn't mean his blood vessels were all absent too.
"I can't take you anywhere," Law complained, finally arriving at the scene and heading straight for Shachi, nudging his hand out of the way long enough to assess the wounds. "Back to the Tang with you before you faint." Shachi had no complaints with the order, considering he was starting to get light headed – maybe one of the knives had caught an artery, that would be annoying – and started to head back to the submarine, accompanied by his nakama.
He didn't quite make it back before the dizziness got too much, but that was okay because Law was there.
"I don't do this so you can pull suicidal stunts," he heard his captain grumble. Shachi just laughed as warm arms caught him and everything went dark.

"Brothel?! BROTHEL?!" Azure shrieks indignantly. Imri groans and pushes Jitoh slightly behind him.
"My girls are NOT whores!" He flutters towards them in a furious swirl of flashing fabric. "They are dancers! Artists! MASTERS OF THEIR CRAFT!" He lasers in on Jitoh at last. "And YOU! YOU come in here, to MY respectable establishment, expecting to get your boorish jollies! OUT!!"
Imri intervenes, blocking Jitoh from view. "Chill, Az! He's a mage! One of those sheltered, scholar-monk types. He meant no disrespect." The captain lays a reassuring hand on the shifter's shoulder, ignoring Jitoh sputtering behind him.
"I am NOT a mon-" Kari conveniently slugs Jitoh hard in the arm. "OW Kari, five hells!"
Azure looks behind Imri at Jitoh, slightly mollified. "In that case, I will consider accepting an apology for your rudeness."
Imri keeps talking, smoothing Azure's ruffled feathers with a steady steam of compliments.

ZoLu~ Meetings, Jealousy, and Marines
Info: awwe Zolu, i love them so much here's a little drabble that i desperately wanted to write <3 The story takes place after Wano probably. The meetings between the Strawhats and Hearts are rarely, if ever, dull.
Rated G
4.4K words
Zoro smiled as Luffy pulled away from him. Not much could make the day better. The breeze was in their favor and the ocean was calm as any sailor could wish it.
"Well, good morning to you too, captain," Zoro smiled up at Luffy. He was still foggy from his nap and Luffy kissing him as soon as he opened his eyes wasn't much better.
"Shishishi, Zoro, it's afternoon, almost evening," Luffy corrected with a smile that always lightened Zoro's mood.
"Screw time," Zoro muttered. He took hold of Luffy's shirt and pulled him into another kiss. Zoro bit hit captain's lip and Luffy fell into Zoro's lap. Luffy ran his hands through Zoro's short, green hair. Luffy pulled away from Zoro's lips.
"Your hair is so soft," Luffy said. Zoro brought his hands to Luffy's waist and pulled him closer so their chests were pressed together.
"You say that every time you touch it," Zoro stated, it was true, almost. Zoro was sure Luffy ran his fingers through it while Zoro slept.
"Well, it's true, every time I touch it." Luffy countered. Another kiss was shared. This one was much shorter. The two interacting like this was far from unusual. Luffy was the kind of guy that liked contact, the crew all too used to it by now. In fact, Robin and Usopp would often poke fun at the two. They weren't alone in it either.
"Anything planned for today?" Zoro asked.
"Yep," Luffy nodded vigorously. "Nami said we're gunna be coming up on the island we're supposed to meet Torao at tonight."
"We're hitting land soon?" Zoro asked. Luffy nodded. "Good, we're almost out of booze."
"Are we?" Luffy tilted his head.
"Mhm," Zoro hummed.
"Luffy!" Usopp shouted, running down the steps, onto Sunny's grassy deck. "Brook said he saw a seaking, let's go catch it!"
"Sanji can make the best dinner with a seaking!" Luffy said, moving out of Zoro's lap.
"One second," Zoro muttered, pulling Luffy back down and kissing him.
"Shishi, see you," Luffy climbed off Zoro and ran to join Usopp on the railing across the deck. Luffy nearly crashed into Usopp and knocked the fishing rod off the rail.
"Oh!" Luffy stretched out to catch it just in time. Try as they might, Usopp and Luffy couldn't catch a single thing all day. It was like the seaking outsmarted them or something! Luffy told Usopp as much. Sanji started making dinner before they could catch it.
"C' mon Luffy, there's no way the seaking is still around," Usopp said.
"We'll catch it!" Luffy insisted.
"Give it up Luf," Usopp sighed.
"Dinner's done!" Sanji called.
"Oh! FOod!" Luffy gasped and dropped the fishing rod and ran into the kitchen, leaving Usopp to clean it all up. Could he blame Luffy, though?  Sanji's food was always the best! The crew gathered in for dinner and sailed on.
Now, when Nami told Luffy soon, Luffy thought they'd hit landfall at right after dinner. Or, even better, during dinner. But that hadn't been the case. The Thousand Sunny docked alongside two fishing boats at dusk. The colors of sunset had given way to the dull blue of a darkening, cloudless sky.
"Let's go explore!" Luffy declared, already heading to the ship's railing. Nami took hold of Luffy's infamous strawhat, the string tightened around Luffy's neck and Luffy dash for land fell short.
"I already told Law we were here, he's at the bar up the road with the rest of his crew, that's where we're going," Nami said.
"I wanna explore the town first!" Luffy argued.
"You can do that tomorrow, we have to stock up on supplies so we'll be here a few days," Nami suggested, letting go of Luffy's hat. It fell against Luffy's back.
"Fine, Torao's cool anyway," Luffy gave. With that, the crew made their way off the ship. It was late, and the docks were quiet. The only noise came from the ocean's breeze blowing between the fishing rigs and dingies floating on the choppy water. Further, into the town, lights were on in houses and the faint smells of already cooked meals lingered in the air.
The bar was only down the road a ways from the dock, sailors never wandered very far from their ships, and sailors enjoyed a drink when they were on land too. Of course, the bar was close by. The little bar that the strawhats came to was small, humble, but professional. The building was old but clean and well kept. Luffy pushed the door open to an atmosphere that he didn't expect based on the exterior of this building.
It was loud, loud and full. Full of pirates. Specifically, the pirates that were strangely adorned in the Jolly Roger of Luffy's ally, Trafalgar Law. Sure there were others too, locals probably. They were just faces in the crowd.
"No weapons in the bar," the bartender said. Zoro sighed but relinquished his swords.
"Those are important, take care of 'em," Zoro said.
"Will do," the bartender agreed. The rest of the strawhats emptied their weapons unto the bartender too. Nami's staff, Usopps slingshot, all of Franky's ammunition, and Brooks sword.
The others started to join Law's crew. Usopp and Chopper were already talking to Shachi. Nami was giving another guy the cold shoulder. Sanji was fawning over Ikkaku. Jinbei and Brook seemed to be in a meaningful conversation with Uni. Robin and Franky were at the bar with Penguin.
"There's Law," Zoro pointed out, gesturing to a corner of the bar. Law sat alone at a table with a half-empty plate in front of him, sipping from a glass when Luffy laid eyes on him.
"Oh, I see him," Luffy said. Zoro pressed a kiss to Luffy's temple.
"I'm going to the bar," Zoro said. Luffy expected nothing less.
"Don't drink too much."
"Not in my vocabulary," Zoro stated as he walked away. Luffy made his way through the bar, greeting some of Law's crew as he went until he made it to the table Law sat at.
"Hi, Torao! I hope you didn't go on any adventures too fun without me!"  Luffy greeted, sitting across the little table from Law. It was old and worn down at the edges. It still left clean and smooth when Luffy leaned onto it.
"Probably nothing you'd consider fun," Law replied, his voice professional.
"Awe, you can have some fun without me," Luffy chirped.
"I'm well aware." Law turned to Luffy, tucking his legs beneath the table. Law took a sip from his glass and met Luffy's eyes. Luffy really was something else... Law had no qualms admitting his attraction to the younger captain. At least no qualms admitting that to himself.
"What'd ya wanna meet for?" Luffy asked. The truth was simply that Law has wanted to see Luffy. But Law couldn't just tell Luffy that. Luffy was with Zoro and there wasn't anything Law could do about that. So Law would just have to get over this little crush of his.
"I think some of Kaido's men have been tailing my ship, I'm not sure how," Law said. That wasn't entirely wrong... someone had been tailing the Polar Tang. It just wasn't Kaido. But Law couldn't use that as an excuse to see Luffy. It was probably just some bounty hunters.
"They haven't attacked you, right? I'll kick Kaido's ass all over again!" Law chuckled at Luffy's words. Maybe he had been drinking this scotch a little too much.
"No, nothing like that, I just wanted to know if you had something similar going on," Law lied. "Since I knew we'd be close to crossing paths, it was a decent enough reason to meet up. I didn't want to use the snail in case they were tapped."
"Nami hasn't said anything about being followed," Luffy said.
"That's odd, I wonder what he's planning in that case..." Law thought out loud and stared into the space beside Luffy.
"Eh, who cares? It doesn't matter unless he tried to fight us," Luffy decided, stealing a fry from Law's half-eaten plate. Law frowned but didn't say anything to the Strawhat's captain.
"I suppose, but it's unsettling that he can even track me, we travel underwater after all," Law rested his jaw against his closed fist and glanced about the lively room. Mostly lively because the pirates weren't cooped up on a ship anymore.
"Oh yeah! How is he doing that?" Luffy asked, not really asking Law, but the question was there nonetheless.
"Tracking my transponder snail's signal, probably..." Law trailed off in his thoughts, taking another sip of his scotch.
"Hey, hey Luffy!" Penguin hooked his arm around Luffy's shoulders. Law frowned at that."Don't let my grumpy old captain keep you from having fun, here have a drink and join us when grandpa lets you go."
"What is that?" Luffy asked, looking at the brownish liquid in the cup Penguin had sat down.
"It's Brandy," Law interjected.
"Oh, I don't like booze," Luffy declared. Penguin stared at him a moment.
"Okay, then I'm just going to leave that there." Penguin sauntered off. Luffy tilted his head, looking down at the glass.
"You want it Torao?"
Well, Law couldn't let a good spirit go to waste. He finished off what was left of his scotch and took a sip from the Brandy. "Thanks.
"Is that all you wanted to talk about?"
"Essentially," Law confirmed.
"Ah, okay, I'm gunna get some food, I'm starving!" Luffy took off, darting between the tables and people.
"Of course you are," Law said to no one but himself seeing as Luffy was gone. The night went on and Law drank, mostly by himself, he was joined later in the evening by Bepo. Zoro drank too, but Zoro was always drinking. Once Luffy had stated his hunger, he demanded Brook play something at the small piano in the corner of the bar, near the bartender. Of course, Brook complied with his captain's orders.
That sailor's shanty started an old one. Bink's Sake. As old as it was, and as young as they were, neither crew missed a beat. Luffy was the loudest of all. Singing off-key without a care in the world.
Zoro joined in, at the parts his drunken brain remembers. He slurred some of the words, but most of them were slurring words so that didn't matter.  When that song was over, Zoro found Luffy sitting in his lap. Whether or not Luffy put himself there, or Zoro had pulled Luffy into his lap, was not information Zoro was privy to.
Still, he held his arm around Luffy's waist and drank his booze while Luffy found some chopsticks. Which really meant one thing.
"Zoro, let me go!" Luffy squirmed around, pushing on Zoro's arm.
"No, mine," Zoro mumbled into Luffy's ear, hugging Luffy to his body.
"You're starting to stink like booze," Luffy said, pushing Zoro away as he leaned in to kiss Luffy. "I take that back, you already stink."
Zoro sighed in defeat and relaxed his arm. "Alright fine." Luffy grinned and stood up. Luffy turned to Zoro and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
"I'll be back," Luffy assured, Luffy took the chopsticks, gathered a few more and ran off calling for Chopper and Usopp. The room broke out into laughter when the three climbed up onto some tables, dancing and singing very badly. Even the bartender was laughing his ass off at the idiots. Luffy only came back down from the table when Brook changed to a slower song. Law had made his way to the bar for another glass.
Luffy came running to the bar, knocking into Law. "Do you have orange juice?" Luffy asked.
"Plain orange juice?" The bartender asked. Luffy nodded. "Yeah, I'll get for ya."
"Strawhat-ya, watch what you were doing," Law grumbled.
"Huh?" Wow, Law was standing really close to Luffy.
"You ran into me," Law said.
"Oh, sorry!" Luffy smiled at him. That stupid fucking smile. Luffy really was an oblivious idiot.
"Whatever," Law muttered. The bartender set Law's drink down just out of Law's reach on Luffy side. Law leaned over Luffy to grab it. It was just Law's luck that someone happened to bump into him while he was doing that. Law fell against Luffy, pinning him between the surgeon and the bar. Law caught himself on the bar, arms outstretched on either side of Luffy.
"Torao?" Luffy muttered. Fuck, Law was really close now. Their noses were almost touching. Law took a step back.
"Sorry," Law muttered. Someone bumped into him again, shoving him into Luffy.  Law was pressed up against Luffy's body and wow that was too close, their noses were inches apart.
Zoro wasn't very far away. He noticed Law on top of Luffy. Zoro ignored it the first time, knowing Luffy would correct the situation. But then Law was still close and Luffy wasn't doing anything, or he tried and Law wasn't listening.
Zoro made his way over to them. "Trafalgar!" Zoro bellowed. The room fell silent. Law moved away from Luffy. Zoro didn't give him time to even think. Zoro took Law's shirt into his fists pulling the captain away from his captain. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Holy fuck- Roronoa-ya you must be wasted." Law turned his face away from Zoro's because he really did wreak of alcohol. That probably wasn't wise to say to an angry drunk.
"I'm not wasted enough to beat your ass!" Zoro barked.
"Hey! If you're gunna fight you'd better take your asses outside!" The bartender shouted over them.
"Over what? A fucking accident?" Law scoffed and tried to push Zoro's hands away. Zoro didn't budge.
"Oh, don't give me that shit, I've seen the way you look at him!" Zoro snapped, getting up in Law's face. Given the smell of Zoro's breath, Law really preferred if he didn't.
"I don't have damn clue what you're talking about," Law lied. Zoro pulled Law forward and shoved him back against the bar. Pain shot up Law's spine, fucking christ.
"Take it outside!" The bartender hollered, "I'll have the village guards here in less than five minutes!"
"You're lucky I the took my fucking sword." Zoro, let go of Law only to throw a punch that hit Law square in the nose. The whole bar broke into chaos. The Heart's crew started shouting, Sanji was making his way over.
"Hey!" Luffy shouted, over everyone, his concur's haki all but shook the building. It didn't faze Law or Zoro a bit. Law pushed Zoro back and Zoro stumbled into a table, knocking it, and all that it bared, onto the floor. Zoro charged at Law, and both of them went flying over the bar, almost into the bartender.
"That's it!" The bartender pulled a transponder snail from beneath the counter.
"Those are my friends!" Luffy snapped, grabbing at the snail.
"Luffy, let it be," Sanji grabbed Luffy's arm before he could stop the bartender. The guy made the call. Law punched Zoro in the eye. Zoro threw Law onto the bar. Punching him one, two, three times.
Law rolled to the other side and took a few steps back. Blood dripped from his nose. "That all you got Pirate Hunter!?" Law taunted. Zoro jumped over the bar and charged at Law again.
"Room." Law's room engulfed the bar and Zoro was traded in for a table. Zoro crashed directly into a wall.
"Why'd you do that?" Luffy shouted at the bartender.
"Luffy, he's just doing his job, it's not his fault his bar is full of dumbasses," Nami said.
"He didn't have to go and call the guards, now they're both gunna get arrested!"
"Don't worry about it kid, bar fights happen all the time. They'll be held overnight and released in the morning if someone comes to get them," the bartender explained.
"Trafalgar, you low life bastard!" Zoro growled.
"If I'm a lowlife, what the hell does that make you?" Law retorted. Zoro threw a table at Law. It stopped mid-air and fell to the ground.
"Stop hiding behind your devil fruit you fucking coward!" Zoro yelled from across the from.
"Devil Fruit users, of course, entitled bastards," the bartender muttered. The bar door burst open and guards filled into the room.
"The dark-haired one's a devil fruit user," the bartender warned. One of the guards pulled out something that looked a lot like a gun.
"Hey!"Luffy shouted, marching over to the guards. "Don't you use that on my friend!"
"Luffy!" Nami yelled. "Sanji, stop him." Sanji jumped into Luffy's path. The guard shot the gun and a net fired out, engulfing Law. The room fell and objects clattered to the ground.
"What the fuck!" Law yelled. The other guards restrained Zoro.
"You can't just take them!" Luffy shouted. Sanji lifted Luffy onto his shoulder.
"You heard the bartender, it'll do 'em good to sit in a cell overnight," Sanji grumbled.
"That's our captain!" Shachi shouted, getting onto his feet to intervene. Jinbei stuck his arm out to stop him.
"You'll only make it worse," Jinbei said.
"Oi! Sanji!" Luffy pushed on Sanji, squirming to get away from him.
"Luffy! Cut it out!" Sanji snapped. "Let's get back to the ship, we'll get them in the morning."
"Hang in there Zoro!" Luffy called, outside the bar. The crews collected their weapons and went back out to the docs. The breeze was much gentler than earlier in the night and the fishing boats weren't so creeky. The Strawhats and Hearts parted to their respective ships and called it a night.
In the meantime. Zoro was cursing out Law.
"Shut up, you big, drunk idiot," Law muttered. He had had enough of Zoro's shouting and cursing to last a lifetime. The man really could curse like a sailor. It's not like the seastone shackles Law was in made the situation better.
Zoro fell silent, which came as a surprise to Law. Zoro was in the cell next to Law's. There would be no more fighting tonight. Zoro didn't say anything else to Law. And it wasn't very long until Law could heat Zoro snoring in the dark cell. There was no way Law was sleeping tonight. Law watched the soldiers come and go, he had drunk a fair bit last night and he could feel the headache settling between his temples. It wasn't until Law could see traces of the rising sun that sleep finally overcame him.
Zoro woke early, maybe. He wasn't sure. He could hear talking but the words were hard to focus on over the hangover he had. Zoro may have a high tolerance for booze, but he had greatly overestimated it last night and he had a blurry memory of whatever the hell had happened. He knew he got into a fight with Law, but he hadn't a clue what it was over, and had no idea where he was. A cell of some sort.
It was dark, only a window on the opposite end of the building. A window Zoro could only see as a result of an open door. There was also a desk Zoro could see, or part of one anyway. There were people speaking there, guards Zoro assumed.
"-Surgeon of Death-" the familiar name caught Zoro's attention but that's about all Zoro caught. Then, "-Strawhat Luffy-" Shit. If they knew who they were, that couldn't be good.
"Law," Zoro muttered. Just that made his head pulse. Still, Zoro moved closer to Law's cell. He was leaning against the wall of the building and the bars that separated their cells, asleep. Zoro grabbed Law's shoulder and gave it a shake. "Law."
"Hm?" Law mumbled, adjusting his hat and stretching out his legs.
"I think they know who we are now," Zoro said.
"What?"
"The guard mentioned the name on your bounty, and Luffy's," Zoro explained.
"Shit," Law murmured. Zoro nodded, thought Law didn't see him. He had his back to Zoro.
"What are we going to do?"
"I don't know," Law replied, he shifted, sitting up a bit more. "I can't use my powers, and neither of us has our swords..." Law trailed off. Thinking.
They were screwed.
_
"Luffy, there are marines in the harbor," Robin said, she had just come down from the crow's nest.
"We'd better hurry and go get Zoro and Law then," Nami said.
"Oh yeah!" Luffy declared. Usopp gave him a skeptical look.
"How do you forget your boyfriend is in jail?" Usopp asked.
"Let's go get them!"
"Make sure to get Bepo before you go," Nami said. Luffy nodded and left the ship.  Luffy found the Polar Tang docked a little way down the docs from the Thousand Sunny. He banged on the door that led into the submarine.
"What the hell!?" Shachi answered the door looking tired and annoyed.
"I'm going to get Torao and Zoro," Luffy stated.
"Oh, shit," Shachi muttered. "Right, guess I'll go with you then." Shachi stepped out and closed the door.
"Nami said we should hurry since there's a Marine ship coming into the harbor," Luffy stated, already leaving the submarine.
"A Marine ship!?" Shachi's eye widened and his eyebrows rose.
"Uh-huh, let's go." Luffy and Shachi made their way to the guard's station. The little town was quiet, almost too quiet. No kids playing outside, very few people hustling between sales stands. It was the quietest Luffy had ever seen a port town. A few directions and turnarounds later, Shachi and Luffy found the guards station.
"Hello?" Luffy called as he walked in, Shachi right behind him. A guard came from another room, closing the door behind him. She wore the same long coat the guards were wearing last night, so the assumption wasn't a bad one.
"Can I help you?"
"We're here to get our friends," Luffy said.
"We're they arrested?" She asked.
"Yeah, those two dumbasses just drank a little too much last night and got into a fight," Sahchi spoke up before Luffy could. "We're not from here and we're supposed to be leaving the harbor in a few hours."
"They were arrested, that means they'll be stuck here, from the damage they caused at the bar, it'll be until they can pay it back."
"That's no-" Shachi elbowed Luffy's side.
"Money's not a problem Ma'am, how much?"
"They're bounties worth," the woman said with a smug grin. "And his."
"No way in hell!" Luffy snapped. "Where are they?"
"Luffy!" That was Zoro's voice, it came from the other side of the door. Luffy walked up to the guard that stood between him and the door.
"Get the hell outta my way," Luffy challenged.
"Hey, Strawhat, you wouldn't punch a woman-"
"If she doesn't get outta my way I will," Luffy snapped.
"You're not going anywhere, Monkey D. Luffy," the woman said. She pulled a gun from her coat. Luffy smirked.
"That won't work." She shot the gun and is burrowed into Luffy's arm. Stretching out his skin and ricocheting into the wall behind her.
"Devil Fruit user?" She asked. her cocky disposition fell and she took a step back. Luffy moved to step around her but she stopped him.
"That's my first mate you have in there, now move!" Luffy's demand was so intense, so demanding Shachi fought the urge to move from where he stood.
"Your tricks don't work on me, demon." She stuck her nose in the air and pulled that cocky demeanor back together. Luffy pushed past her.  She moved to attack Luffy.
Shachi hit the back of her neck, he may be without a bounty, but that doesn't mean he was someone to ignore. She dropped to the ground on her hands and knees, shit, he didn't hit her hard enough. Shachi did it again before she could get back up.
"Thanks," Luffy said, glancing back as he went on into the room.
"My captain's in there too," Shachi said.  He followed Luffy.
"Zoro!" Luffy called.
"Here, Luf," Zoro said from the cell. Luffy ran over to it.
"Are you okay?" Luffy asked. Zoro got to his feet and met Luffy at the door to his cell.
"Captain!" Shachi yelled, running into the room too. Zoro and Luffy ignored him.
"I'm fine, no thanks to you leaving me in a cell all night." Luffy stuck his hand through the bars and grabbed Zoro's.
"Nami said I'd make it worse!" Luffy argued.
"Uh-huh, just get me outta here."
"I guess we need keys for that."
"One step ahead of you," Law said, motioning to Shachi who was re-entering the room with a set of keys in hand. Zoro and Luffy were so focused on each other, the didn't even notice Shachi or Law. Shachi Unlocked Law's cell before tossing the keys to Luffy. Luffy let Zoro out and didn't hesitate to wrap his arms around Zoro.
"There are Marines in the harbor," Shachi told Law.
"In that case, we should get out of here, I'm too hungover to deal with Marines today," Law said. "Coming Strawhat-ya?"
"Yup!" Luffy chirped. He pressed a kiss to Zoro's cheek.
_
Luffy pouted as he watched the island get smaller and smaller on the horizon. Zoro slipped his arm around Luffy, making Luffy jump just a little bit.
"What's the matter?" Zoro asked he pushed Luffy's hat off and it hung around Luffy's neck. "Pouting 'cause you couldn't cause any problems?"
"I wanted to explore the island and I didn't get to!" Luffy leaned against the Sunny's railing and sighed. Eyes glued to the spec of an island.
"So cause problems?" Zoro asked he rested his chin on Luffy's shoulder.
"No! I just wanted to explore!" Luffy was almost whining and Zoro couldn't help but find it cute.
"Sorry for cutting our visit short," Zoro kissed Luffy's cheek. Luffy smiled and leaned into Zoro "What did me and Law even fight about?"
"I'm not sure, I think you were mad that he was really close to me," Luffy said.
"Hm." Zoro wrapped his arm all the way around Luffy and hugged him close. "Well, there's always the next island."
"I still wanted to explore that one," Luffy huffed.
"Even you can't always get what you want." Luffy turned his head to face Zoro. Luffy kissed him and Zoro tried not to smile into Luffy's lips.
"I will when I'm the Pirate King!" Luffy declared once they parted. Zoro squeezed Luffy in his arms a bit.
"We'll see about that."

I’ve been meaning to post an image of this for ages but this is a ‘canonical’ letter sent from Jack to Gibbs which exists in the POTC Pirate Code book that came out to coincide with At World’s End AND IT’S THE CUTEST THING EVER.
I’ve put a transcript under the cut:
Joshamee,
After you unceremoniously pitched off the bench last night following my seventeenth toast to the successful taking of our latest prize, then rolled into a comfortable position under the table (providing a lovely footrest!) and proceeded to snore louder than the flapping of an undertrimmed jib in an irritable wind, I spent some time musing on the subject which I had noticed to be the theme of our discourse throughout the evening -- that of honesty. As I sit here finishing off your rum, I will commend my reflections to paper.
Thought the first: It’s best to tell the truth, especially when you know the one you’re telling the truth to wouldn’t believe the truth even if you told it to him. I tell the truth quite a lot, yet people are always surprised.
Thought the second: A dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it’s the honest ones you want to watch out for -- because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.
Thirdly -- Illusions of honesty are often as necessary as the actuality of honesty. Many years ago, when I proclaimed my intentions for the inhabitants of that delightful town in Nassau to hand over their valuable commodities immediately or ruin and death would ensue, little were the trusting residents aware that I had not a single shot in my gun nor any other essential weaponry that should have warranted their concern. I merely appeared completely sincere and was rewarded generously for the effort.
Forthly, in my dealings, if there be two men, and, among the two men, one of them is known for committing a deviousness against the other, then it is the word of the man who has not committed the deviousness that you’ll be trusting.   ( Gibbs leaves a note on the page here: Meaning that if it comes down to Barbossa and any other man, take the word of any other man ).
However, as important as honesty can be to being able to live with oneself, having written all of this, I have encountered one additional lesson in my travels regarding possessing an honest streak that would teach anyone to avoid that veracious aspect at all costs. My honesty and trustworthiness led me to the loss of my dear ship on far too many occasions -- first to Cutler Beckett when a deal regarding the contents of a cargo I was to deliver proved fraudulent on his behalf; secondly to Barbossa when he tricked me out of revealing the coordinates for Isla de Muerta and the treasure of Cortes, marooning me on a barren spit of land; and thirdly, to Davy Jones’s terrible beastie. This last occurrence of me evidencing this cumbersome virtue of honesty also led to my death, which I honestly wish could have been avoided. ( Gibbs’ footnote: A worse deal for Barbossa I think! Although three days of nothing but rum might have killed Jack then and there! )
As I take leave of the virtues of Tortuga, I hope this note finds you at the farthermost position from jail and on your way to enjoying the rest of your spoils, although I’l readily admit to borrowing some remittance from you for the use of a room and a good wench as your girth beneath the table impeded my ability to share said undertable position for my own repose. The borrowing of this coin without permission should not be construed as stealing, as in my heart I have every intention of paying you back. I might tell you of my destination and its purpose, for I know you would now believe me whatsoever the description, but let me just offer that it includes a cask of sea sponges, an elephant, and several bottles of glue. ( Gibbs footnote: Morein likely Jack said that to Anamaria about the Jolly Mon! Well, that’s not money I’ll not be expecting to see again )
Your sincerest friend,
Captain Jack Sparrow

💝- A memory that made them feel loved
“Nn…” Martha was just waking up, groggy after a long night. She ran her fingers through her hair and rubbed her eyes. Though when she looked around–she was completely alone in the shared quarters…she couldnt have slept in that late could she? Someone normally would have woken her if she slept past eight or nine am.
Tumblr media
“Where is everybody…?” The inquiry was said to no one in particular, mainly to herself as she got up to investigate.
“Guys?” She was dressed in a loose tank top and shorts, barefoot as she ascended the stairs to the deck above. Looking around she didnt immediately see them, but then she was startled when they all suddenly jumped out.
“Happy Birthday!!!!!”
The whole crew was suddenly crowded around their youngest member, hugging her and laughing as she squirmed.
“Ah! Hey! Guys! Stop it, c’ mon!” She laughed as she was lifted off her feet, her captain was the one hugging her now. “Cap’n! Did ya arrange all this? You guys actually remembered?”
Due to the fact they hadnt been on an island, remembering the date could be difficult.  Though given her birthday was on Halloween, if they did remember they could remember her birthday.
“Oh course we did, squirt!” Their navigator, Zachery, laughed. Smooching her temple just to get her whine about the slobbery kiss.
“Hes right, we wouldnt just forget your eighteen birthday, Martha. Kind of an important one right?” The captain grinned, ruffling her hair. The captain’s wife moved through the crowd of crew members to join her husband and the teenager; a small box in her hand.
“We actually have a gift for you, we all chipped in to find things for this and to make it. “ The older woman offered the box to Martha with a smile.
Tumblr media
“Really? C’mon you guys didnt have to do that!” Martha opened the box as she spoke and her eyes widened. Before her was a charm to go in her hair that was made of hand crafted beads…they all looked like different minerals or materials. And the second thing in the box was a gold medallion with a jolly roger carved into it and colored with black ink that was on a leather cord as a chain.
Her eyes filled with happy tears, wrapping her arms around the closest people to her as she cried. “Thank you so much! These’er amazing! I love you guys so much.” They knew how much she wanted the same tattoo of the jolly roger they all had, so being given something to replace her inability to get the tattoo meant the world to her.
Her captain laughed and returned the hug. “We love you too, Martha.”

Lore of Yore: Madness of the Elephant's Trunk
The Bermuda Triangle. The Vile Vortex of Quuel. Hesper's Hollow. Venturing into such mystifying regions might cause a nautical captain or stellar sailor to lose their crew, their ship, or their life in short term. However, in the case of the Depthless Fathom of Vonsk, many an inquiring cosmic crusader tends to exhibit far stranger side-effects.
Officially, the Depthless Fathom refers to the localised space surrounding the stellar nursery known colloquially as the Elephant's Trunk, or Colossi-H7. Discovered by Lady Jacotte Hoveton, one of Queen Elizabeth's Watchers who was employed upon a pursuit of the Chartreuse Assassin when she stumbled upon the region, the Fathom rendered Hove's damaged vessel becalmed until rescue arrived from Albion. When her saviours entered her ship, the intrepid Britons discovered Hove dancing a merry jig around a makeshift camp fire, which subsequently burned a hole straight through her ship's hull, dooming the entire group to the vast stellar coalescence.
Other stories end in similar predicaments: Proditor Rhames escaped justice for the Six-Dagger Murders on Kelnus, only to disappear into the roiling molecular clouds without further trace for another ninety-six years. When a bright-eyed young man arrived on Terra Arthus bearing dental records matching those of the presumably-late proditor, staff of the Centre for Advanced Genetic Tomfoolery were at a loss to explain Rhames' extended lifespan and apparent de-ageing. More puzzling, however, was Rhames' insistence that he was a small raspberry blancmange named Trevor the Whistling Egg, and the matter was quietly ignored.
In later years, the sensational endeavours of Doctor Prespicarius Nit attracted the attention of peons and newspapers across England. Nit, a self-styled Professor of Adventure, took it upon herself to fly her rickety rocket ship, the Teaspoon, directly through the Elephant's Trunk in order to prove its utter lack of danger. Boundary buoys situated on the opposite side of the nursery—suitably removed from its startling effects—documented the Teaspoon's emergence from the cloud at top speed, and tracked its wobbling trajectory straight to the Delightful World of Odd's Bodkin. There, Nit crash-landed atop the Zesty Needle and burst into the first alehouse she laid eyes on. The doctor emerged a week later, having drunk the place dry and divested innumerable pontoon-playing patrons of their winnings and several articles of fetching clothing. Nit's alehouse crawl proceeded down the entire hundred-fathom length of the Needle, drinking thousands of beings under the table and shutting down nineteen reputable public houses, and upon reaching the bottom she promptly fell into a deep slumber that lasts to this day.
Several theories have been put forth as to the cause behind the nursery's bewildering effects, although the Royal Infomarium has yet to recognise any of them—especially those that witter on about time dilation and relativistic quantum mechanics. A more down-to-Earth hypothesis was suggested by a Glamby Ronter of Devon, latterly part of the Treven Mons project on Mars. Ronter, a keen frequenter of the Wallop & Tickle public house, explains thusly:  "It's obvious really, innit? You've got folk dancing about like lunatics, some of 'em thinking they're still in the first bloom of youth, others crawling from one pub to the next. Obvious. They're all smashed off their trolleys."
Indeed, the latest survey team sent out by the Admiralty has confirmed the presence of naturally-occurring ethyl alcohol within the interstellar masers of Colossi-H7. Heated by the nursery's protostars, these masers appear to have formed a large cloud of intoxicating chemicals in orbit around the region—meaning that any star sailor who hasn't properly welded their portholes shut might find themselves feeling a little more jolly than usual. If Mr. Ronter's theory is borne out by the Admiralty's data, it may well transpire that the Elephant's Trunk becomes the go-to galactic hot-spot for those looking to get absolutely cosmically sloshed.
