“Well, hello there,” the greeting that left your father’s lips was anything but friendly. The mere idea of it not being hostile to the people who killed so many of your men blew your mind.
You decided to keep your mouth shut when a glare of a blue-eyed man on the other side of the fence almost outmatched yours in its viciousness. You hopped out of the vehicle, yawning and murmuring something about having enough traveling for the next few weeks. There was nothing you hated more than sitting for hours in a metal can with nothing to do.
“Do not make me have to ask,” your dad said when no one moved to open the gate for him and your people. He shoved his hand deep into his leather jacket’s pocket and tapped his foot on the ground to hurry them up.
The blue-eyed man hesitated for a moment before sliding the gate open, but not without some resistance. “You said a week. You’re early.”
“How about you file a complaint, huh?” the words escaped you before you could catch them, gathering everyone’s attention.
A few of the Saviors whistled in amusement and appreciation. You quickly pulled the hood of your sweatshirt over your head with an unpleased groan and turned your head to the side, suddenly finding the trees on your left very interesting.
You didn’t get a kick out of people’s attention on you as your dad did. It was just one of the many differences between you and him. There were things you were confident in, but speaking up in front of a large group of people or getting applause for something you did just wasn’t it.
Luckily for you, the citizens of Alexandria didn’t dwell long on your words, and their fearful eyes quickly returned to your father. His smug grin already told you that he was proud of you for speaking up. You were his blood, after all.
When the distinctive growling sounded closer and closer, you could almost see the light bulb lighting up above your father’s head.
“Oh, Rick, come on out here.” He licked his lips in anticipation as he raised Lucille above his head and whistled. “Watch this.”
“Im not a damn dog,” you mumbled under your breath, but obediently grabbed the bat out of your father’s hands, annoyance clearly visible on your face and in your voice.
The undead man stalked towards you with outstretched hands, excited to get a bite of fresh meat. You raised the bat over your head before swinging at the creature with an annoyed groan. The weapon hit it straight in the middle of its head. The barbed wire and force of the strike made a whole bloody mess of its brain. The blood and all the muck splattered over your clothes and the nearby car.
Negan burst into a deep chuckle at the sight. “Easy peasy lemon squeezy! My kid is doing some charity work for you here, Rick. You better remember that,” he said, winking at the man standing by the gate.
You rolled your eyes, handing the bat back to him and wiping the stray red drops off your cheek. Negan proceeded to give a cheeky little speech to the people from Alexandria, throwing a few threats their way and bowing at the end, almost as if he was waiting for applause.
He gave Lucille to Rick with a sly glint in his eyes before he stepped inside ASZ. He knew exactly what effect his actions had on that man. Rick Grimes was furious and afraid, but not for himself, for something far more important to him.
“Alright, let’s get this show on the road. See what kind of goodies you have in the cupboard.” Negan gestured for you to keep close while he walked further into the town.
“We put aside half of the supplies.”
“No, Rick. No,” your father butted in. He stepped closer to the man threateningly. “You don’t decide what we take. I do. Tell him, boy! Tell him how things here work.” Negan turned towards you with a proud grin.
Of course, he wanted to include you in his weird power plays. He was throwing your existence right in their faces for reasons unknown to you. You thought it’d be safer for you if they didn’t know about you being their enemy’s son, but your father had different plans, like always. It was a shame he didn’t at least give you a heads-up before playing them out.
“It’s always been like that. He’s the boss, he decides what’s his,” you spoke up, shrugging your shoulders. You weren’t going to give them more than that; you weren’t your father.
After that, Arat yelled out for your group to get a move on, and they dispersed, immediately getting themselves busy searching through the houses.
Your father weaved you off to go and explore, maybe help out his men if you were feeling petty. But you knew the rules—the crueler you were, the more things you took, the more Negan’s approval you got. It wasn’t your thing, so you just planned to walk around and check out some of the places there. You were particularly curious about what weapons and how many of them did they have, but you also did not want to participate in the scavenger hunt, so you decided to just let it be.
After not even an hour, you knew you’d seen every interesting place in Alexandria, so you followed one of the random Saviors group searching through the houses. You didn’t take anything from the buildings, just walked around, curiosity peeked by the big suburban homes. The place was nothing like the industrial Sanctuary. It was beautiful and cozy, with the light colors of the furniture brightening the rooms. You could’ve lived in a place like that.
While you were checking out the upstairs of the house, you heard a commotion and an unfamiliar voice downstairs. Without a second thought, you ran down the stairs to find your people being held at gunpoint by a long-haired boy around your age. You looked at him in awe. He looked badass with his bandaged eye and the steady grip on the weapon. He also looked like someone you could get on with. Damn, it was a shame that your groups were on some kind of warpath.
The teenager popped the safety off. “Put some back or the next one goes in you,” he threatened.
“What do you think happens next?” one of the Saviors asked, looking at the boy in amusement while you took that as a sign to pull out your own gun.
“You die,” he replied with so much confidence it was surprising.
“No, you die.” You pointed your gun at his temple, cocking your head, very entertained by the situation. You weren’t sure if the kid had the balls to actually kill your guys over the medicine, but you were curious to find out.
The brown-haired boy slowly turned his head toward you at the sound of the safety clicking. He stared you off with that pretty blue eye of his. For a second, you wondered if he wasn’t this settlement leader’s kid. If that turned out to be the truth, then the chance of you becoming friends dropped to zero.
“That’s a standoff I didn’t expect.” Your father’s whistling cut through the tension in the room.
You turned your head to look at him and Rick, that stood at the entrance of the room. The leader of Alexandria walked over to the two of you, glancing between you and the other boy. It was easy to put the puzzles together. The one-eyed boy was his son. It was an accurate guess, seeing the fear and uncertainty in the man’s blue eyes.
Rick called his son’s name, reaching for the gun in the boy’s hand. “Carl put it down,” he warned him, looking yet again at the barrel of your weapon.
“No. He’s taking all of our medicine. They said only half our stuff,” he protested, raising his voice. His hand holding the gun started shaking slightly, and your eyes quickly caught that sight. Maybe he wasn’t as brave and badass as you thought, or maybe your father traumatized him so much that his presence scared the boy.
“Really, kid?” Your father stepped in front of Carl in amusement. The whole situation was probably pretty entertaining to him.
“And you should go,” the boy continued looking Negan right in the eye. “Before you find out how dangerous we all are.”
You snorted amused. Shit, you knew that with this sentence, the boy just fucked up. If Negan wasn’t pissed before, he definitely was now. You let out an exasperated sigh, tucking your gun behind your belt. You stopped listening to the conversation between them, your eyes glued to the blue-eyed boy.
You didn’t even pay attention when your father stopped talking for a moment before he commanded Dave and the other Savior to take away all of Alexandria’s weapons.
Your heart started beating faster when you took a closer look at Carl, who scrunched his eyebrows in annoyance. The whole time you were there, he gave you maybe a glance or two, desperately trying to show you that you were the intruder here.
You noticed your father staring at you with narrowed eyes. He crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow, challengingly at you. His gaze went back and forth between you and the boy. When you finally met his eyes, he sighed loudly and shook his head disapprovingly. You rolled your eyes and scoffed lightly, turning around and walking away without sparing Carl another glance.
Your steps sounded too loud in the silent house, making you feel uneasy and a bit ashamed because of getting caught staring like a lovesick puppy at someone who was supposed to be your enemy. And damn, how did he manage to make such an impression on you? Why did you want to talk to him so much?
Tumblr media
You sat by the little lake in the town, tangling your fingers in the cold grass and waiting for somebody to call you over and say you were leaving. You felt bored and out of place. You thought you would get out of the sunshine and rainbows town quicker. But it took a lot longer than you initially thought.
There weren’t many Alexandrians around the area, so you could let your guard down for a bit. The humidity from the water was refreshing, and you caught yourself breathing in deeply. If you could, you’d bring that lake back to the Sanctuary. It reminded you of your childhood and the days when your mom took you to swimming classes. However, the water there stank strongly of chlorine, so the air wasn’t as nice as this was.
When someone finally passed by you. It was Carl fucking Grimes. He walked right past you like you weren’t there, but you didn’t take it personally. He had no obligation to keep you entertained, and you knew that. You also knew that he probably didn’t want to have anything to do with you, but something drew you to him.
You waited until no one was looking before following him. If he noticed you behind him, he showed no sign of it for most of this short walk. His steps were long and rushed, and it should’ve been a red flag to you, but you decided to ignore it.
At one point, Carl stopped walking and looked around, searching for something. You noticed he was pretending. He did that to make sure you were still following him. And when he noticed you did, he scoffed under his nose. He kept walking, pretending like you weren’t there.
You noticed you were getting close to the edge of the town. There was no one in sight anywhere around you. Carl must’ve seen that, too, because he stopped and sighed, turning around slowly to face you. His expression had turned into a frown, and his eye had grown cold and angry.
“What do you want? Why did you stare at me, and why did you follow me here?” he spat the words at you, glaring daggers at you as if he wanted you to fall dead before his feet. He stepped closer to you, invading every inch of your space, forcing himself between you and the town. You took a step back, your back hitting the cold wall of the house behind you.
“No reason,” you muttered, trying to act nonchalant about it all. “Just wondered where you were going.” You tried to sound natural, which was hard, considering you were freaking out about being in such close proximity to him.
Carl stepped closer toward you, knowing you had nowhere to back away now. He glared at you again, and you flinched. “Yeah, right.” He scoffed once more. “Why does it matter?”
Your mind blanked at this sudden question, and you struggled to find an answer. “Well...” You glanced down at the ground nervously. “I haven’t seen anyone my age for so fucking long. I just thought we could talk for a while.” Your voice faltered at the end, your heart pounding against your chest. You swallowed thickly. You didn’t know what else to say.
“About?” he raised his eyebrow, waiting expectantly. You shrugged awkwardly.
“Whatever you want to talk about.” You tried to keep your tone light, hoping it would calm him down somehow. This was getting awkward and embarrassing fast. You weren’t used to people staring at you like they could read your soul with their piercing gaze.
“You’re pretty badass,” you blurted out nervously. You mentally slapped yourself for talking without thinking twice. Carl raised an eyebrow yet again, seeming unimpressed by your answer.
He stared at you, looking even more annoyed now than before. He opened his mouth as if to say something, then closed it again, shaking his head and letting out a heavy sigh. “Whatever. Just leave me alone, okay? You’re not welcome here.” With that, he turned on his heels and started walking away.
“Wait!” You shouted before you could think. He stopped and glared at you once again, this time with more malice than before. He looked ready to punch you. You gulped down some nervousness and continued speaking, trying to sound casual. “Look, I’m sorry I came after you. Like I said, I just wanted to talk.” You smiled sheepishly. “Can’t hurt to try, can it?”
Carl crossed his arms over his chest. He leaned against the brick wall beside you and studied you; his forehead furrowed in concentration.
For a while, neither of you said anything. You stood still, staring at each other intensely, waiting for the other to speak first. It felt like hours had passed before Carl finally broke the silence.
“Your dad is an asshole.”
You gave him a weak smile and nodded. “Yeah, he really is,” you admitted.
“A total douchebag,” he continued, but a hint of sympathy was hidden underneath the harsh words. You gazed at him in contemplation, but he wasn’t paying any attention to you. Instead, he stared up at the sky quietly. He seemed lost in thought.
“He wants me to be just like him.” You shook your head and chuckled bitterly.
“That sounds like the sort of thing a douchebag would do.”
The corner of his lips twitched, and you almost didn’t catch it. Almost. Your heartbeat sped up in excitement, and you grinned. You liked seeing him crack a small smile, even though it was barely there. It made you feel warm inside and helped you forget how Carl’s eye flashed dangerously at you just a few minutes before.
“You have a pretty smile,” you blurted out, surprising even yourself.
The boy looked at you quizzically for a minute as if wondering what the hell had possessed you to say something so stupid. But then the corners of his mouth curved upwards into a shy grin, and that was all the answer you needed. You felt giddy and lightheaded. Maybe because of the fact that he was still smiling at you or perhaps the fact that he hadn’t yelled at you yet. Either way, you were grinning foolishly at the boy you considered an enemy just minutes ago.
You watched him as he studied the clouds. He was handsome, and the way his long brown hair framed his face made him look almost angelic. His blue eye shined in the sunlight, but there was something more: it hid loneliness behind its surface. It made you wonder if he felt just as lonely in this world as you did. Then again, you didn’t know enough about him to be sure if that was true. So instead, you focused on the warmth spreading through your chest.
“Do you think this could work?” you asked suddenly, breaking the silence. Carl turned to you, eyebrow raised in question. “Well, I mean, if we became friends… Would it work?”
He frowned, considering your question carefully. “I’m not really sure.” He hesitated, “Maybe.”
You sighed, defeated. “Me neither. But it’s worth a shot, right?”
It took him a few moments before he finally agreed with you. “Yeah,” he said. “It’s worth a shot.”
You smiled widely at him, and he returned the gesture with one of his rare smiles. It sent an electric jolt through your body. You swallowed hard and tried to ignore the butterflies that swarmed your stomach.

11x18 review and obvs spoilers
* Judith narrating the little Daryl flashback hit me in the HEART
* Daryl not standing down for anyone but Carol? We’ve seen this before an it never gets old
* Uhhh Daryl… lose the tone before I make you lose it. I get he’s angry and Hornsby and his men were hunting them like dogs but… don’t take that tone with Carol she’s saved your ass… again
* Aaron looking between Daryl and Carol as they have their little old married couple back and fourth is EVERYTHING
* Carol out here again single-handedly sorting everything out for everyone else. Queen shit
* Oh lance has mommy issues
* Daryl packing Judith’s lil katana in his bag made my heart swell
* CAROL AND LYDIA MY HEART- “you have to take happiness wherever you can get it.” No stop that right now because I know that Carol has been trying so hard to let herself have happiness after everything that’s happened to her and her family so saying that to Lydia is just so lovely. I LOVE THEM
* NAHHHH DARYL WATCHED THAT WHOLE INTERACTION? Judith too? The Dixon squad makes me want to claw my eyes out from the cuteness
* “I never thanked you for saving her” this one. This is the one right here. I’m reading this as “I never thanked you for giving me another chance at getting my happiness”
* And the Daryl and Lydia hugs. Daddy Daryl is the best Daryl
* (Although I’m getting whiplash from the Daryl mood swings already)
* Yesss Judith call him out. Hold Daryl accountable. I love it when daughters give their father figures grief. Not one moments peace for this man
* Okay Carol I see you squeezing past Daryl a lil closer than needed
* Daryl didn’t choose the dad life but the dad life chose him… and preteen Judy is giving him a run for his money
* Judith looks more and more like Shane every damn day
* Carol and Zeke are still cute. They have a history and a GOOD one at that. I’m glad they had one last talk before parting ways. If my predictions are right I assume this will be the last time they talk
* Less screen time with the militons pleas e
* NOT THE NEGAN AND ANNIE BABY SCAN SHOT EXACTLY MIRRORING GLENN AND MAGGIES IM NOT OKAY AT ALL
* I don’t have a good feeling about Annie and the baby. I don’t think they’ll make it
* Daryl putting his vest back on? The symbolism… he’s going back to Alexandria to be his true self
* RJ READING COMICS LIKE HIS BIG BROTHER CARL IM SCREAMING
* These Grimes babies are making Daryl rethink his whole life choices
* Daryl loses Judith and goes straight to Carol for help? And him confiding in her that he doesn’t think he’s a good parent?? My heart!! And Daryl comparing himself to Rick?? I can’t do this
* I saw a lot of people saying that the Sophia mention was really glossed over but like… it’s not the first time she’s mentioned her since her death. All the other times she’s spoken about her hasn’t been teary. It’s been a long time for Carol. She’s made her peace with it (obvs it would still be painful but like I’m happy that she can talk about her daughter casually after all this time). And her sharing her feelings on parenting with Daryl of all people?? It’s a brilliant bonding moment between the two
* Carol casually touching Daryl’s forearm, telling him he’ll figure it out, I see you miss girl
* Eugene and Stephanie bore me a bit too. I don’t dislike their story but idk. I’ve never been that attached to Eugene even though he’s one of the longer standing characters atm.
* Mama rositaaaaa I love youuuuuu
* I’m not religious in the slightest so Gabes whole church speech fell a lil flat on me
* Hey Judy miss girl!! What you doing here?!?
* Daryl walking through the church looking for Judith parallels him walking into the church’ looking for Sophia in s2. Someone gif that parallel please
* Baby Daryl hiding out by the river on his own waiting for his dad to fall asleep is heartbreaking
* “You we’re alone a lot” OKAY THAT ONE FUCKING HURT KNOWING THAT THE WRITERS ARE PROBA SENDING DARYL OFF ON HIS OWN AT THE END OF ALL THIS FUCK YOU AMC
* Daryl admitting to Judith that he doesn’t know what he’s doing and he’s just trying to keep her safe *cries in daddy issues*
* “Help me up” DARYL YOU ARE SUCH AN OLD MAN I LOVE YOU (still not forgotten how you spoke to Carol at the start of the ep tho)
* Sebastian’s critique on the American Dream is the only good thing he’s said all season
* Daryl and Carol taking Judith to go say bye to her friends like the amazing co-parents they are >>
* Daryl is me watching this wrestling scene wtf is happening
* Okay Eugene and Stephanie toppling the government with a secret recording
* What’s with these shitty under the chin running shots?
* Why are there so many red apples this ep?
* Zeke saving one of Jerrys babies :,)
* Daryl panicking as he loses sight of Judith again. Bro that man would do anything of those kids. Those are HIS babies
* Judith stepping UP and with her daddies gun too :’)
* BYE SEBASTIAN HAHAHHA
* poor Judith tho man
Overall- again I enjoyed this ep way more than I expected to. Got better as it went on but there’s still some issues with like pacing and screen time and stuff. But at this point…I’m hopeful

Review for "Family", twd season 11 ep 23, spoilers ahead:
Sooo many things to unpack... Ok, here we go:
Judith intro and in the rest of the episode:
First off all, the music used in this intro is the same as the one used for Rick's last episode when he blew up the bridge ... okay what a way to start 😭
talk abt Lori, unusual, nice. Then about Rick, Michonne, Carl. Nice again. As i said in previous reviews, this screams end of series, but its logical, i guess. Oh, and she probably doesnt know Rick isnt her biological father, i mean he didnt tell her when he was here cauz she was too young and im pretty sure Michonne never said it either ? Correct me if im wrong. Saying this cause some people seemed to think she would mention Shane.
Im also still not convinced Rick isnt the father by the way, the only thing we know is that Rick IS convinced he's not her father, but that could be his insecurities showing up, i mean if i recall well he could totally be, since he had sex with Lori very quickly after reuniting with her, so i dont know, maybe im bad at maths and maybe i missed an interview from someone saying this is canon and true (Kirkman? Anyone?), but i always believed that it was just Rick's belief but not a proof
And that doesnt matter anyway cause he's her father. She said "maybe im a grimes after all" and yes you are baby girl.
She's giving the hat to R.J, and later when Carol says "you and Carl are alike", she answers "he died saving people" and Carol goes "yes he did". These two events foreshadows the end of the episode, where she saves Maggie and gets shot. Also, what a moving call back, Judith saving Maggie who helped Lori giving birth to her.
Ok, before continuing, let me say this: she is NOT dying. She is going to reunite with Rick and Michonne. How, where, in what spin off/show/whatever, we dont know. But it IS happening. I have ZERO doubts. Same for R.J. Now, maybe then Rick dies within 15 mns of said reunion, you never know with TWD, or maybe then she dies (doubt so) but they ARE seing each other again.
Comic ending Spoilers:
Im pretty convinced, now that she gives the hat to Herschel, despite the fact that she was narrating here, that they re going to follow - in a way - the comics and have R.J be the one narrating everything after some time jump, to his children or something like that. Could be wrong.
Back to the show: When Daryl carried her to the clinic helped by Carol and everyone, of fucking course it made me think of the scene of Carl losing his eyes and getting carried by Rick with Michonne and everyone's help to Denise ❤❤💔💔
Then Judith said "daddy", and while some think she was talking to Daryl since she was dizzy and losing conscience (Daryl who did call her and R.J his kids a few episodes earlier...), to me it was obvious she was seeing/hallucinating/thinking abt Rick at this moment. Im not saying Andy is going to appear next week as an hallucination, but it was of course done on purpose. What purpose, we'll see...
But hey, Diane is aliiiive! Where the hell has she been all those episodes? Where the hell is Virgil??
Maggie/Negan: They are setting up the spin off with these lines: "together you and i we get this done" "not a we"...
Negan/Zeke nice talk with Maggie listening hidden is also a way to humanise him in Maggie's eyes in order to tease the spin off. Im not saying they re going to become besties, but they have to tease this so...
Ezekiel: "and yet i smile". His speech was amazing and a also nice call back for exactly why Rick spared Negan: dying would have been too easy. Rick probably didnt expect Negan to do any good though, but to just rot in his cell (the one built by Morgan by the way, just saying😎) but its happening now. So... "everything gets a return", you know (yes, Morgan again).
Back in 8.16 i was not ok with Rick sparing Negan, then in 9A i was kind on team Rick because well we knew he was leaving, we feared he would die, i could not bring myself to stay mad at him, i just wanted Daryl and him to get along again, i was moved by Carol trying to be supportive of both... anyway, digression.
Im still not at ease with the way Negan's been acting until very recently, but since Annie, since the few last episodes, he's definitely earning his redemption.
Bad ass Eugene taking down soldiers, is that his first real human kill by the way? And nice reunion with Max
Mercer a hero taking so many risks and his men too
Yumiko and Magna mini reunion, ok
Carol praising Judith, as in "we could all use her will to think abt the future and not just the present" made me think abt a certain doom: "new mexico still out here" "we got things to do first" AND IT HURTS
I loove that Judith and Carol had these moments since i hated to see that they hadnt seen each other at all for years at the start of 9b. I also loved the unit Carol, Daryl and her formed in this episode. And her mentioning she wishes she had more time with Carl, with all of them. Reminding me of when she said "im starting to forget their voices" to Michonne refering to Carl /Rick in 9b 💔. If u think abt it, she's also one of the oldest characters in the show u know.
Daryl saying "once this is over i'll tell u abt the people who loved you:: YES?? TYREESE? BETH? HERSCHEL? for instance. But we know he's leaving so he wont have time anyway to say anything, unless : time jump, return and spin off set in between, but i doubt it, we ll see.
Could u remind me again why we are supposed to believe Gabe and Rosita have broken up? I mean as per Angela's interview i think, not on screen. Because they obviously still love each other, duh? ?
Tyler: apologizes to Princess, she doesnt have to forgive him she has every right to be cold to him but it was still nice to have Connie, Kelly and Magna being nice and encouraging to him. And of course he died... the scene of Connie trying to reach out for him was touching.
Aaron, Jerry, Lydia:
Lydia so scared to lose Elijah the way she lost Henry...
Jerry going out to find Elijah "see u on the other side" ouuuh this doesnt look good at all and when u think of Queen Nabilla/King Jerry in Kingdom 2.0, it reminds me that once you start having plans in this show, it doesnt look good for you (Abe and Sasha💔...) , and Aaron looked at him like he knew, so im pretty sure he's a goner 💔💔... Also Please if he dies dont have Lydia feel guilty because she panicked and he decided to go look for Elijah...
And oh My God: "you are so loved, Lydia..."😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 she soo needed to hear that, u know?
I love Aaron so much, please dont die, please??
I probably have a thousand more things to say, still, but it's already wayyy too long

Thorns part 3
Lacey spent the next few hours spelling out everything she knew about Sanctuary's defenses, weak points, schedules and routines. She felt the eyes on her more acutely now, and there was far more doubt and accusation in their gazes than there was before. She had felt ashamed of who she was plenty of times before in her life, but she still hated the feeling. It wasn't something you got desensitized to.
Sometimes she had been ashamed of things she had done, but more often for who she was and how little money she had. It was almost tolerable when you did something to deserve it, but when she was judged for things out of her control? It was hard not to be angry and bitter after being treated like that.    As she had answered Rick, Michone and Carol's questions, her eyes locked on Daryl as he paced at the back of the room in his usual brooding silence.  He held her gaze much of the time, nodding encouragement now and again. When they were satisfied with her answers, she stood to go and realized she had no idea where she was going.  She had walked out of the infirmary this morning (was it really just this morning?) And the day had swept her away.
"You can stay with me." Carol told her as if reading her mind.
"Thank you." Lacey told her with a soft smile.   "I'll walk her over there." Daryl told Carol before leading her out the door.
They took a block in silence, then finally, Lacey spoke.
"I'm surprised they didn't put me with Rick and Michone. I could've shared a babysitter with Judith." She had been told a great deal about Alexandria both by Negan and now people within the community. While Rick, Michone and Daryl were the tight lipped sorts, others she had met in the infirmary were less secretive.
"I'm not babysitting you." Daryl muttered as he lit a cigarette.
"Of course you are. I wouldn't let me out of your sights, in case I were to slip out and report my findings to Negan." She replied with a shrug. "I don't blame them for being uncertain about me, it's smart."
"You're not a prisoner here, you know that right?" He asked on a cloud of smoke. "It just takes time to trust. Especially after what Negan already did to us."
Lacey smiled at Daryl, and ignored the fluttering in her chest and stomach when he smiled shyly back, glancing at her sideways to see if she was looking at him.
*Oh, damn it.* Lacey thought. *this has got to be the worst timing ever to get a crush like a teenager.* she took a deep breath and glanced around the community trying to focus on something else. She saw a teenage boy with a cowboy hat and an eyepatch sitting with a toddler on a front porch that looked like it belonged on the Waltons.
"Are those Rick's kids?" She asked, smiling and waving. Judith smiled and waved back but Carl just stared back with a scowl.
"Yeah." Daryl nodded at them and Carl nodded back. "Its not been an easy world to grow up in." He says, as if explaining the boys lack of social graces. Lacey laughed,
"Yes, but I think he's just smart like his father and he's sizing me up. Trying to decide if I'm one of the 'bad guys'." She said as they continued on, strolling down the sidewalk in no hurry, going easy on Lacey's injured feet.  Daryl grunted in response, which Lacey took to be an agreement. Lacey winced as she stepped down wrong and felt her stitches stretch and threaten to split. She hissed and pulled her foot up quickly, grabbing Daryls bicep to keep from falling.
He put his hand under her elbow to help support her and scowled at her pain.
"Well, I guess there goes my future as an Olympic gymnast." She joked, though her eyes had welled up slightly.
"It's this house up here, you got it?" Daryl asked and Lacey nodded. When they reached the house, Lacey sat on the steps and took her shoes off to examine her feet. They were bleeding again, but only slightly.
"OK, that's it." Daryl said, scooping her up, in both arms this time, like a groom used to carry a bride over the threshold. Lacey shouted, first in shock but then in laughter. He made it seem so easy to haul her around.
"My hero!" Lacey gushed playfully, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Stop." Daryl said, failing to sound quite as grumpy as usual. She could even see the hint of a smirk on his face.
"Do you really want me to?" She teased, smiling and staring into his intense brown eyes. They both seemed to be holding their breath, waiting to see what the other would do.   "Yes." Daryl said finally, but with a playful note in his tone. Lacey grinned at him right before he dropped her onto the couch gracelessly. She squealed again in surprise and amusement. She hadn't laughed like this in ages. He was smiling despite trying not to, his face flushing with color. Finally Lacey sighed and settled back into a half sitting lean.
"I mean it though, you really saved my ass. I can never repay you for the kindness you've shown me." She said, growing serious for a moment.
"Naw, you don't owe anyone nothing." He shook his head and sat on the opposite end of the sofa. He wouldn't even let her bring it back up. Everytime she tried to mention it, he changed the subject. Or, maybe she was controlling the conversation after all - when it fell silent for too long, she would try and praise or thank Daryl and so he would start talking about something else. Either way they sat together, making small talk.
Not 'how about that weather' sort of small talk; more like 'getting to know you on a blind date' sort of small talk.
"Did you get all the way to Virginia all by yourself?" Daryl asked at one point. Lacey shook her head sadly.
"No, there was a group of us. We had more when we started and it just got to be less and less of us. By the time we met the saviors, both of my brothers had already died. The others needed something to hope for, and I suppose so did I. But, sometimes hope is just cruel." She clenched her teeth slightly and looked away sadly.
"Hey, we don't gotta talk about this."
"No, its fine. No sense in pretending something didn't happen because it makes us feel sad or ashamed." She replied, and when they fell silent once again, she started to thank Daryl one more time. This time, to redirect the subject, Daryl asked,
"Why'd you get all those tattoos, anyway? I mean, not that I don't like em or whatever… you know what I mean." He stammered a little awkwardly and Lacey couldn't stop her face from grinning. She didn't know if it was  because he had put his hands together and tucked them between his knees, shoulders drawn in tight looking every bit a shy little boy rather than a big, tough man in his 40's - or because he had noticed (and made a mental note of, apparently) her body art.
"So you liked my tattoos? How close were you looking?" She watched him from the corner of her eye.
"Alright, enough." He said, pushing her back onto the sofa so she was laying flat now. She chuckled at him, her heart doing somersaults- she was quite certain she had never met a man like him before.
"I hope I'm not interrupting." Carol said wryly as she came through the door. She smiled at Daryl and quipped, "You're supposed to tie something around the doorknob when you have a date over, so I know not to intrude!"
"OK, that's it. The two of you deserve each other, you're exactly alike." Daryl huffed and stood up, though he didn't sound particularly annoyed.
After he left, Carol sat in a chair facing Lacey.
"If you have ulterior motives here, if you hurt anyone from Alexandria? You won't even have time to apologize. Do we understand each other?" She asked, just as nicely as if she were offering her a cookie. Lacey was shocked silent for a moment but then hung her head slightly. She deserved this, she had just been taken off guard.
"I understand, and I promise you I have no interest in harming you all. You've been kind to me, and that's a strength I haven't seen in people in a long time." Lacey replied, holding Carol's blue eyed gaze. Carol seemed satisfied finally and stood once more.
"Then we understand each other." She nodded. "There's a shower upstairs, if you're up for it. I managed to get you another set of clothes, too." She tossed Lacey the bag of clothing and told her "The guest room is at the top of the stairs, first door on the left."
And just like that, Lacey Jaymes was a member of the Alexandria community.

Do the Rick movies even have a release year yet? Like there's supposed to be 3 of them but I've heard nothing except "there's gonna be movies"
Also will the movies end with Rick reuniting with his literal children. DOES HE EVEN KNOW ABOUT RJ???
We never saw a scene where Michonne told him she thought she might be pregnant so I think it's safe to say that he just straight up doesn't know he has a 4/5 year old.
Oh shit okay, imagine it's the final episode of season 11, like last 7 minutes and like everybody is straight up fighting for their lives against the commonwealth or the reapers or both. We've already lost some fan favourites earlier in the episode, they made devastatingly beautiful sacrifices to try and help their family survive and then we see a helicopter and everybody kinda freezes cause "is that a fucking helicopter 10 years into the end of the world??" and just out jumps Rick Grimes and Michonne, and they both go just start kicking the asses of the commonwealth, maybe have Rick throw in a comment about how the soldiers look like they're straight out of one of Carl's comics.
Then everything calms, half our family is dead. Then Judith sees Rick for the first time because she was protecting the other kids and not allowed to fight in the actual battle and just yells "dad!" (kinda like how Carl did in season 1 when Rick came back from the dead the first time) and she just starts running and Rick freezes because his tiny babygirl that was a toddler when he "died" is now a 10 year old strong-willed little girl carrying his gun and a sword wearing Carl's hat, and they hug and it's cute and then RJ sees Michonne and tells "mom!" (once again mirroring Carl but now also Judith) and Michonne hugs him and Rick just goes "mom? He called you mom?" and then they have a big grimes family hug. And Judith whispers to RJ, "this is the brave man I told you stories about" and RJs eyes go wide and Rick's match when he hears his sons named after him.
Also the Daryl/Rick bro hug would be even more emotional than when they saw each to her for the first time after Negans lineup. And then they tie it all up in a little neat bow.
But then the Rick movies are during the time jump, and it's Rick trying to get back to his family but he can't because he's Mr. I need to help people in need, and then he finds Michonne (and she doesn't tell him about RJ because she doesn't know how to but also everytime she tries to they get interrupted) but the last movie ends with him and Michonne on a CRM helicopter going back home
I uh I got a bit out of hand here lmao, but like also I wanna see something like this, I've said it before but like I want the end of the show to be devastating but also give a little hope that the characters that are left are gonna be okay. I didn't even mention the Carol/Daryl spinoff very much but I feel like if Rick and michonne came back and took their kids to a safe place they found that's actually safe it'd make it so Daryl wouldn't break character by straight up abandoning his family.
Idk anyways hope you enjoyed what is essentially my brain vomiting thoughts

My thoughts on Episode 5--Out of the Ashes.
Okay, though.  I’m already excited about this one because Carol and Lydia are on the little guide picture thingy, lol.  My girls.
As usual, I’m going to put the rest underneath a cut to save you lovelies potentially being spoiled should you not want to be.
Wow.  Look at that full moon.  And the colors in the woods.
I’m telling you.  These cold opening scenes have been generally pretty awesome this season.
Aaron with Gracie always gives us such sweetness but this time maybe not.
Omigosh.  Now *that* is a nightmare--the Walkers, the Wolves, the Saviors, the Whisperers, Mays.  Did I miss anybody?  And then Gracie gone just like that?  Poor Aaron.  All he wants is to keep his little girl safe and happy.
So.  Is Gracie sleeping right next to her daddy because she had a nightmare or because her daddy’s been having them?  Because either way, oh my freaking heart.  Especially at her still sleeping with her stuffed bunny.  I’m really, really hoping that bunny isn’t a bad omen of sorts for our Gracie, because little girls with bunnies haven’t fared all that well--going all the way back to the first episode and as recently as the subway episode where Daryl found that picture of the two siblings after they’d already found the bunny from the picture amongst the bodies.  Please not Gracie.  Aaron has already been through so much.
Are they all just communing together now?  Because I can see how that would harken back to Season 4.
Jerry!  Not even 3 minutes in and already two of my faves are present.  I can tell this is going to be a good episode.
That really sucks.  Not even being able to take a peaceful piss because you can see Walkers shambling past your window, lol.
There goes my queen running straight at danger as real queens are apt to do.  ;)
Were there always lights coming on in the windmill during the opening credits or is that a new thing for this episode?
That orientation video was so surreal.  Had to laugh at the political touch of having “this message is approved by Pamela Milton” at the end.
Okay.  So they’re getting their work assignments, huh?  Orientations are the worst, lol.  All that damn paperwork.
Retail clerk--Princess being excited at the prospect of working in a mall, even having a mall again, has me LMAO even as I’m like girl.  No.  You’ll love it ‘til you hate it.
I didn’t catch Eugene’s job.  But Ezekiel doing animal control kind of cracks me up.  For reasons.
So.  Essentially Eugene and Princess and Ezekiel got blue collar jobs while Yumiko’s got an invitation to join the upper crust.
I love Lydia being accepted as part of the community.  About damn time.
For a second I thought Rosita said what’s left of the horses plural and I was fixin’ to go OH NO.
This is where I’m at on the Maggie/Negan issue, for better or worse:  Maggie absolutely, IMHO, has earned the right to stay mad at Negan for the rest of her days.  Because Glenn.  Because her little boy was robbed of his daddy.  That said?  I don’t think I have it in me to watch 5 more episodes of this beaten horse antagonistic conversation much less a whole season.  It would be one thing if it hadn’t already stolen valuable and earned screen time from other characters that seem to have been pushed to the periphery to spotlight it like it was the marquee event or something.  I don’t want want 2/3′s of the final season so heavily focused on the conflict between these two when there are so many characters that are already woefully underutilized.  It’s only compelling if it doesn’t become commonplace.
It’s a sad business having to put down people you know, I’d expect.  Funny, though.  We never knew them so the impact is kind of artificial.  I appreciate the intent of the scene, though.
Where the hell are all the Walkers coming from?  Like, I thought most of them went skydiving off that cliff without parachutes.
Judith training the other babies.  If only her parents--every damn one of them--could see her now.
Gus!  How cool and awesome for him!
ASZ is just full of asshole teens isn’t it?  How dare that little dipshit push our Asskicker down like that and say such hateful things?  To be fair, though, the kid is probably just repeating what he’s heard from others and I’m glad they’re being realistic here even if I don’t like seeing Judith cry.
Cailey Fleming’s expressive face and eyes!  This kid has my heart, ya’ll.
That perfectly pretty cake wasted!  LMAO.  Seriously though.  How does a cardiothoracic surgeon end up assigned to work in the bakery?  Yumiko’s reunion with her brother Tomi honestly was on par with what I’d expect from someone seeing the sister they’d long given up as dead.
Freaky still how the Whisperers choose to herd the dead even without Beta and Alpha.
Was that the real Stephanie in the scene with the ice cream?  Right under Eugene’s nose while he’s with Fake Stephanie?  They have a connection, ya’ll.  Eugene felt it.
Okay, though.  I wanted the kids having their first ice cream cones.  If I were Eugene, though, I probably would have inhaled that thing after being deprived for so long.
The Milton Hotel?  Alrighty then.  Somebody feels self-important.
Aww.  Eugene’s thinking of Rosita and Coco.  They really have evolved into such a sweet, good friendship and I miss them together.
Literally, I love Princess more each time I see her and hear her open her hilarious mouth.  LOL at her with the ice cream cone.
Is everybody in ASZ staying in the same damn house?  Whoever broke the board with Carl’s and Judith’s handprints on it needs an ass kicking.
“Me, too.”  Welp.  Guess RJ’s already met his line quota per appearance 24 minutes in, LOL.
Aww.  My heart.  A Rosita/Judith scene.  I’m already loving it but not gonna lie.  Who do we have topay to get a Carol/Judith scene because she’s been there since Judith was an embryo?
“Now it’s broken.  He’s gone.  Everybody is.”  The way this scene is unexpectedly gutting me right now.  Because Rosita’s right.  It never really gets easier.  It’s just something you figure out how to carry.  How many people devastated by Covid or other illness or tragedy are carrying these same feelings of loss and hurt everyday?
Give us more of those heartfelt moments, dammit.  This girl at least craves them.  Not the endless Maggie/Negan conflict.
Ouch.  “I think I haven’t met a Whisperer who wasn’t a liar.”  Damn Aaron.  Lydia’s right there beside you.
Angry Jerry hurts my heart in ways I cannot explain.
On a completely shallow note, Miko’s brother is attractive too.  I quite like his accent, lol.  I wonder why he’s so hesitant to put his skills as a surgeon to use.
“Want some cake?”/”Hell, yes.”  Yumiko=me 99% of the time.  LOL.  Just kidding.  In reality, I have to say no.
“They clearly got a gym in this joint.  Your chiseling is perfecto.”  LMAO.  I’m all for Princess/Mercer.  She flusters him a little and I’m loving it.  When she told him he had beautiful eyelashes, I howled.
Oh my sweet Aaron.  I’m in the same kind of pain and disbelief as Lydia watching you interrogate that Whisperer.
Thank you, Carol.  Melissa McBride?  I effing LOVE you.  My heart hurts.
I’m sure she’s gonna get hate from the usual crowd while they cheer Aaron further along his dark and desperate path.  Yes.  Ya’ll are *that* predictable.
But Maggie, though?  How long you gonna wait?  Because you gonna be waiting on Daryl’s ass a long time.
“Cheesy video guy.” LOL. Leave it to Princess.  Somehow that Lance dude looks even cheesier in RL.
By the screaming cave?  What the hell is the screaming cave?
Ohh.  Next episode actually looks interesting.  Thank goodness it’s not a bottle episode strictly focusing on Virgil/Connie though because no matter how much I like Connie/Lauren?  I don’t think whatever story she’s stuck in with Virgil is enough to keep me riveted to the tv.
Overall impression of this episode--again, I enjoyed it.  Aaron’s dream was dark AF.  Hell.  Aaron was dark AF in this episode.  Ross Marquand did some really strong work and I’m glad he finally got a moment to shine even though I hate seeing him leaning into the darkness instead of his inherent goodness.  Judith and Rosita’s scenes were touching.  Carol/Melissa made me bawl in the span of two minutes.  That’s why she’s the MVP of this show, lovelies.  She does so very much with so little.  I’m just glad we didn’t have to see Leah and her band of bitchass brothers this episode.
I’m going to miss this show when it’s gone.  At least I’ll have the Carol and Daryl spinoff off to ease my heartache.

SERIES MASTERLIST
Summary: Part two of the Savior Sessions. Negan asks about how the reader met Rick Grimes and they have a question of their own.
Word Count: 2231
Warning: None
Song I Wrote To: “Lost On You” by LP
Note: Thank you so much for the love on the first one. As I said before, these are just going to be uploaded at random, but I was having writers block so this came out of it while I work on my other works.
---------
It was early the next time you pushed open the heavy door that led to Negan’s cell.
“Rise and shine,” you sang as you entered, biting into a fresh apple. Negan was already awake, sitting on the floor of his cell bouncing a tennis ball against the stone wall.
“Have you always been so cheerful in the mornings?” Negan asked and then succumbed to a yawn. You smiled as you took your chair and positioned it once again in front of the bars.
“Absolutely not,” you answered. “Mornings were the bane of my existence before the world ended.”
“What changed?” he asked.
“Probably the fact that Walkers woke you up no matter what and if you slept in, you risked being eaten or murdered in your sleep,” you finished with a shrug. Negan just shook his head, already amused. “Oh, I got you something,” you told him and then dug into the bag at your side and produced another apple that you had grabbed from Eugene’s backyard. “Breakfast.” Tossing the piece of fruit through the bars, Negan easily caught it, turning it over in his hands.
“Special delivery from my new favourite person? How did I get so lucky?” Negan asked as he took a bite of the apple.
“You’re locked in a cell because you started a war with Rick Grimes, I wouldn’t exactly call that lucky,” you said.
“Actually,” Negan said, getting to this feet, “he started it with me.”
“Optics,” you said with a wave of your hand. Negan chuckled and collapsed onto his cot, watching you through the bars.
“So, what has been going on with you, (Y/N)?”
“Not much,” you said, “I was roped into helping Porter with something yesterday that I highly regret.”
“How’s that?”
“Eugene needed some help scavenging for scrap metal and parts for some new radio he’s going to attempt to build. We went to an old office building about forty miles West and after looking for a couple of hours, he finally found what he was looking for…in the ceiling.”
“Oh no,” Negan said as he took another bite of his apple, clearly absorbed in your story.
“And of course, I was the only one who could fit into the small space so I hauled my ass through the ceiling to grab his damn wires. I have never been a fan of small spaces, but this felt like I was crawling into my own casket. Not a fan and no matter what Eugene wants, that will never be happening again.”
“Ah, Eugene,” Negan mused, “I do miss that weirdo. I did have a soft spot for him at one point.”
“Until he went all double-agent on your ass and blew up your bullets,” you said fondly as you remembered that particular day in the field.
“Can’t win them all, (Y/N),” Negan said.
“No, you cannot,” you agreed. Sitting further back in your chair, you crossed your ankles. “What about you? Anything interesting happening around here?”
“How would I know about anything that goes on in this postcard of a town?” Negan asked with a glint in his eye.
“I know that you listen to us through your window,” you said, pointing to the small hole that offers him a peek at Alexandrian life. Negan smirked, leaning back against the stone wall, matching your position. “Out with it.”
“Very well. Gabe and Scott were arguing about something to do with the council. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but Scotty boy isn’t on the council, right?”
“He’s not,” you confirmed, “but he’s one of Michonne’s right hands when it comes to security. Normal for him to have concerns. He’s practically Judith’s personal bodyguard these days.”
“As if Miss Grimes needs one,” Negan said with a smile.
“You should see her when she used the sword,” you told him. “She looks just like her mom.”
“Always knew she was a special kid,” Negan said. It was silent for a few moments as the two of you finished off your apples and basked in the quiet. Eventually, it got too much and you finally spoke.
“I’ve been thinking about heading over to the Kingdom,” you said, “check in on the King.”
“That guy is weird as shit,” Negan said, “and what was up with the tiger?”
“Shiva?” you asked with a grin. “She was incredible. Ezekiel was a zookeeper before the Turn and he saved her when she got hurt once. When everything went to hell, he went back for her and the two of them took on the Walkers together. Shiva was with him every step of the way.”
“What happened to her?” he asked, noticing your use of past tense. “I didn’t see her after the day everyone rode in here.”
“Walkers got her,” you told him. “Ezekiel was cornered and she fought them off to save him, but there were too many of them.”
“Damn,” Negan said.
“Yeah, tell me about it,” you said. Shiva’s death had hit you pretty hard when Jerry had told you. When you had met the big cat, she had immediately taken to you. Besides Ezekiel, only a few people were able to get close to her. Yourself, Jerry, Daryl, and Carol were those people and all four of you had mourned the loss of Ezekiel’s tiger for weeks after her demise. There was something so primal about hunting alongside the cat and as weird as it was, it felt almost natural to move through the new world alongside a predator such as her.
“So,” Negan said, snapping you out of your reverie. “What’s on the agenda for the day?”
“That’s up to you. I’m just here as a sounding board,” you told him.
“We both know that’s not true,” Negan said as he smiled at you. You shrugged and waited. Eventually, he sighed and gave up. “Fine, fine, I will start,” he said. “How about you tell me how you met the infamous Rick Grimes.”
“I can do that,” you agreed and settled in for the story. “I met Rick the same day that he was reunited with his wife and son. Do you know what happened to him at the beginning of all this?”
“No,” Negan said, intrigued, “do tell.”
“Well, you know he was a cop, right?” Negan nodded. “Right, so before the Turn, Rick was shot on the job and he ended up in a coma. His partner, Shane, tried to get him out of the hospital when everything happened, but he couldn’t wake him up and so he left him behind so Shane could get Lori and Carl to safety. He barricaded Rick’s hospital room to keep him safe and then he left. Rick woke up well after the Walkers began taking over and he was all alone in the hospital.”
“Jesus,” Negan said, cringing at the thought.
“He ended up meeting Morgan not long after and he explained everything that had happened.”
“Stick guy?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, “eventually, Rick made it to Atlanta to look for the refuge centers, but of course the city was overrun. He was pretty much screwed until someone saved his life and got him off the street.”
“Who was that?” Negan asked and you paused. You had tried not to think about Glenn now that you were tasked with speaking to the man who had murdered him, but now it was unavoidable. Negan waited while you tried to control your anger that swelled in your chest.
“It was Glenn,” you said, “Maggie’s husband.” Recognition flashed in his eyes and his face fell, but you continued. “Glenn was just a kid then, but he risked everything to get Rick to him and got him to our group that was scavenging in the city. They’re all dead now, but they were good people. Well, all of them except for Merle Dixon, Daryl’s brother. He was a piece of work…”
“And what happened to him?”
“The first time? Rick handcuffed him to a rooftop cause he was being a racist misogynist and then eventually Merle cut off his own hand to get away. The second time, this asshole we had problems with killed him and let him turn. Daryl had to put him down.” Negan’s brows rose at that, but he didn’t interrupt. “Eventually, Glenn, Rick, and the others got back to our camp at the quarry, and Rick, Lori, and Carl were reunited. Lori introduced me to Rick shortly after.”
“Did you two get along?”
“Not at all,” you laughed as you remembered your first meeting. “I didn’t like him when I met him. He was too...uptight. Daryl also hated him for leaving Merle, but those two worked it out eventually. Rick just showed up and took charge and it bugged me, but I soon realized he was the best person to lead us and so we all fell in line. He ended up saving our asses more times than I can count so I guess we made the right decision after all.”
“Hero type, huh?”
“No,” you disagreed, “if you knew everything he did to protect us, you wouldn’t call him a hero. He was just one of the only ones to do what was necessary to do what needed to be done. I learned a lot from his actions.”
“Meaning what?” Negan asked.
“Meaning I learned quickly how to kill someone when it was necessary to keep my people safe. We all did.”
“Even Carl?”
“Even Carl,” you agreed. “As I said, we’ve all done things. This world never cares how old you are, you just have to survive.”
“Who was the first person you killed?” he asked. You stared at him as the images flashed through your mind. The face of the man whom you killed as he went for Tyreese when the Governor attacked the prison. You could still feel his blood on your fingers as you removed the knife from his skull. It was the first of many kills, but it was still the first.
“We’ll save that one for another time,” you said.
“Did I touch a nerve?” he asked, but it wasn’t his usual snarky comeback, he genuinely seemed concerned. You smiled at him.
“I’m a lot tougher than I look, Negan,” you told him. “You can’t piss me off that easily.”
“Good to know,” he said. His expression changed then, watching you as if trying to read every inch of you like a book. “I can see the gears turning in your head, (Y/N).”
“Is that so?”
“I know you have a question on your mind,” he said. “Go on, ask me what you want to know. God knows I’ve been doin’ all the damn talking.” Negan was right, you did have something you wanted to ask him and it had been on your mind since the day Jadis, or rather, Anne had shown up at the gates of Alexandria looking for Rick.
“Why did you kill all of Jadis’ people? What was the reason for wiping them all out? Was it vengeance or were you just bored?” You hadn’t meant for it to come out as harsh as it did, but this was something you needed. While Jadis wasn’t your favourite person, she had helped your group when it was needed and before she disappeared, she had become a key member of the group. Negan sighed and you could see that the question bothered him.
“I didn’t kill them,” he said in a low voice. “I ordered Simon to go and speak to her and get them to drop their alliance with you, but I never wanted him to… Simon killed Jadis’ people. I didn’t know about it until she told me herself.” You watched him, trying to see if he was lying, but you also knew he wasn’t a liar. In fact, Negan’s whole thing was that he never shied away from the truth. It was annoyingly charming and something that you admired and found incredibly irritating.
“So, you’re not a cold-blooded killer then,” you concluded.
“Not always,” he said with a slight shrug.
The sun was getting higher in the sky now and it began to stream through the small window of Negan’s cell. You knew you would have to leave in a bit. You had promised Aaron that you would watch Gracie so he could run an errand. And by errand, you knew that meant meeting up with Jesus. The man thought he was being slick, but you could see right through his lovesick lies. It was adorable.
“(Y/N),” Negan said, gaining your attention once again. “Let me ask you this because I have been curious since our last visit.”
“Shoot,” you said.
“What was your vote on what to do with me?” he asked.
“We didn’t vote,” you reminded him. Rick had made the decision and that was that.
“Well if you had,” Negan said, “what would you have chosen?” You thought about telling him, but a part of you loved keeping him on his toes.
“I’ll tell you next time,” you said as you got up from your seat.
“Tease!” he said dramatically as he fell back on his cot. You rolled your eyes but didn’t stop the smile that spread on your face.
“Not used to getting what you want, Negan?” he looked over at you with narrowed eyes. You leaned over and wrapped your hands around the bars. “Tragic.”

FTWD 6x09: Things Left to Do
Okay. How did everyone like the episode? Fear is always full of TD symbolism and callbacks, but it tends to be less full and relevant than regular TWD. So, most weeks, unless it’s SUPER full, I’ll probably just do one post about it. Like this one. 😉 Just FYI.
***As always, spoilers abound below for FTWD 6x09. Don’t read until you’ve watched!***
Tumblr media
In this week’s episode, we start with June burying John. It really is a LOT like Ty’s burial in 5x09. Just the way they show it with the shovel in the dirt and such. Also, June is wearing a yellow, flowered shirt. I think the flowers are white and the shirt is yellow, but still. It reminded me of the graveyard flowers in Alone.
Tumblr media
Then Virginia takes her back to Lawton where she lines everyone else and puts them on their knees. Morgan won’t answer her, and she starts yelling into the walkie that if he doesn’t answer, she’s going to kill one of them. He just shows up in person on his horse.
Tumblr media
Now, because of the on-the-knees lineup, clearly there are parallels to Negan here. But beyond the on-the-knees part, I actually find this more like Grady. Unlike 6x09/7x01, no one actually dies here.
Daniel is the first to get hurt. He gets a deep wound on the left side of his forehead. It isn’t caused by a bullet, but it is caused by a gun. One of Virginia’s rangers hits him with the but of his rifle.
Tumblr media
It’s a deep, canal-like split in his scalp. And although Beth’s wound obviously didn’t look like that, we’ve seen a lot of walkers with a similar wound. The one that crawled after Bob in the Big Spot in 4x01 had that. But lots of others have, too.
Tumblr media
Morgan gives a speech about how Virginia is a hypocrite and doesn’t follow her own rules. When something goes wrong, she covers it up. (Dawn at Grady, anyone?)
When Virginia goes for her gun, Strand shoots her in the shoulder. Then he yells at everyone to stop and calm down, saying, “Stand down! This is all that has to happen.”
Tumblr media
Again, it reminded me of the “it was just about her. Stand down,” from Coda.
Tumblr media
But things get out of hand and a shootout ensues. Virginia manages to take Daniel and Grace hostage. One of her rangers leaves with them.
Strand and his people want to execute Virginia, but she says if Morgan allows them to, Daniel and Grace will die. So, he takes off with her, rather than giving her to Strand.
They go to the vacant water tower we saw earlier in the season. * 👀 👀 👀 *. It seems to me that safety and salvation are always found in and around water towers of some kind. Here, Virginia confesses that Dakota is her daughter, not her sister.
Tumblr media
Here’s my first big takeaway . It’s clear after watching it twice that Virginia is something of a Beth proxy . It’s a bit counter-intuitive because she’s all evil and stuff. But I think the proxiness is really just about the situation in this episode. Overall, she’s very Dawn-ish as well, and we can relate that to Beth.
But during the lineup/prisoner situation, she got shot (in the shoulder, not the head) and survived. She goes to a water tower. She’s wearing blue the entire episode. A lot of it. And the dialogue, both from her and around her really stuck out to me. People say, “she’s alive,” “she’s still alive,” and “you’re still alive,” to her constantly. She has a couple of “bullshit” lines. That sort of thing.
Tumblr media
They have to run from the water tower because Sherry’s people, who also want to kill Virginia, come.
They have a conversation where Morgan says he’s nothing like her. He says, “you and me are not the same.” And she says, “Oh Morgan. We’re all the same.”
Tumblr media
We’ve heard this LOTS of times before, including in 2x08, Nebraska, and from Crazy Tattoo Guy at Terminus. (I might have more to say about the Nebraska episode later this week. Stay tuned. 😉)
Morgan takes Virginia back to the place he’s building on the dry riverbed. Dwight, Alicia, Al, and most of the others are there. No one is very happy he brought her. Strand and Sherry’s groups show up, demanding they turn Virginia over to her.
Virginia finally decides to be self-sacrificial. She says she’s willing to die as long as 1) they take care of Dakota and let her live with them and 2) Morgan kills her. She’s afraid the others will torture her, and she just wants it to be quick. She says if he agrees she’ll release Daniel and Grace. So, he does.
He takes her outside the walls and it reminded me a lot of when Daryl turned Lydia over to Alpha. It even had ominous music (but not the same music from that scene or the Red Machete; much softer than that.)
Tumblr media
And once again, it doesn’t end at all the same way, so I don’t know if it’s meant to be a parallel. He’s taking her out to be killed, not exchanged. And, long story short, Morgan can’t do it. He says if he does then they’ll be setting a precedent that’s exactly like what Virginia did at Lawton. So, he takes her back inside and makes her talk to Dakota.
The part with Dakota is interesting. Virginia tells her she’s her mother and it’s very tragic. But Dakota is a prisoner in the church, which I couldn’t help but side-eye. We know they tried to bury Beth in a church, even if we didn’t see it. So, the idea of her being imprisoned there is interesting.
Tumblr media
Plus, Dakota is walking around with this huge iron shackle around her foot. The way she drags it around reminded me of the walker with its leg in the bear trap in 4x03, Isolation, when Carl and Hershel are gathering berries.
Tumblr media
And if you’re wondering why that’s important, this walker with the bear trap on her leg is Beth foreshadowing. There’s the bear trap stuff around Beth from her figurine. So Dakota in this scene, being imprisoned in a church with a metal shackle on her leg, is a Beth proxy.
After that, Morgan goes back out and basically talks everyone out of killing Virginia. Sherry is really pissed, but most of the others see sense and get on board.
Then we have this interesting sequence where we see three different couples in different stages of coming back together. First, Morgan and Grace, who hug and she goes inside the walls with him.
Tumblr media
Then Dwight and Sherry. She says she’s not ready to go inside with him yet, but she’s getting there. He accepts that.
Tumblr media
And then Alicia and Strand. (I know they’re not a romantic couple, but friend-wise they’ve been something of a dynamic duo lately. They may be the new Daryl and Carol.) They’re really not on the same page at all.
Tumblr media
She feels like he betrayed her earlier when he wouldn’t take her with him. He says Morgan’s place isn’t for him. They basically argue again, solve nothing, and Strand leaves. *coughs Carol*.
Tumblr media
Then we get to the final scene where June says she took out the bullet, but ends up killing Virginia. Couple of things here. The dog licking Virginia’s face as she wakes feels significant to me. With all the other Beth parallels to her, I feel like it’s a hint. She’s literally asleep (think Beth at Grady, even though it really doesn’t look at all similar) and a DOG licks her awake.
She’s in the church when it happens. Much like Dakota, the church symbol feels important to me. *Gross picture below!*
I want to make a point about her head wound as well. Now, obviously Virginia is dead. I don’t think anyone will make a case for her return. And for most of you, this is preaching to the choir, but for those who still think Beth’s gunshot wound was fatal, look at the difference. Specifically in the entrance wounds.
Gunshot wound trivia 101: the exit wound is always MUCH larger than the entrance wound. That’s because the bullet pushes blood and tissue and anything else in its path ahead of it, so it does a lot more damage exiting than entering.
Tumblr media
We don’t see an exit wound on Virginia, because we can’t see the back of her head, but it’s probably 2-3 times as big as the entrance wound.
But look at Beth’s tiny pinprick of an entrance wound by comparison. See the difference? It might also be significant that Virginia’s is on the opposite side of her forehead. (Like, opposite side = opposite outcome, in this case?)
Tumblr media
But since that’s what we see, let’s focus on it. It must be 10x the size of Beth’s and blood is POURING out of it. (Probably because the gun is bigger and much closer to Virginia’s head.) We also see flecks of skin and bone around it. (Ew.) There’s no doubt that Ginny is dead. But do you see why Beth’s wound is small potatoes by comparison?
And of course there’s a parallel in the fact that it’s in her forehead. In a church. After all the other Beth dialogue and parallels around Virginia.
Tumblr media
And of course June puts on John’s hat, which sort of has a new sheriff in town vibe. She also leaves the community. I wonder if she’ll end up with Strand or just head off on her own. And of course this makes her a proxy to Daryl.  Though it took much longer, she took out the person who indirectly but overall killed the love of her life.
Tumblr media
As for who the villains in the second half might be, it will probably have to do with those guys who were trying to get Emile’s key, and are part of the red submarine/ “the end is the beginning” group. I forgot about them.
That’s about it for this week’s Fear. (There will also be no more TTD until the Fear finale, so I won’t have anything to report on there either. Thoughts?

Crossbow Love - Chapter Sixteen - Mrs. Dixon
Tumblr media
The work was created, through collaboration with @bladeroseocrp https://www.wattpad.com/user/BladeRose_18
Tumblr media
“So after he heals we put him in a cell right?" She asks Rick "Yes, let him look at how people live away from his rule” He says. Blade nods and sighs "I will guard him while he is in the cell." She says "All the time?" He asks. Blade nods and looks over at Negan. "I’m the best one for the job so yeah I'll do it." She says “What about Daryl, do you want to move him away?" Rick sits down on the window sill and looks at her "He needs you now" He says.
Blade looks at him "This doesn't mean I don’t want to be there for Daryl. I love him, and Daryl can help watch him too." She says "Blade I know he hurt you the same way he hurt Daryl. I..." He sighs. "I want to apologize to you."  He says. Blade looks at him confused "For what?" She asks "For everything, for not saving Daryl when you asked me to. For letting that fucker hurt us all." He says tearing up. Blade looks at him and hugs him "You had every right to wait because of what he has done, and you have family to look out for, and I'm so sorry you lost Carl." She says Rick at the mention of his son cries. He is so hurt by his son's death, his passing was a blow to him "I did it for him, for him I told you to save him" He says.
Blade looks at him staring at him "That's why you saved him for Carl to make things right. Look Rick, I hate this man with every fiber of my being. But I agree with you.” She says "Daryl doesn't approve, neither does Maggie and neither do the others. Rosita hates me for it." He says. Blade nods "I can understand that but with us locking him up in a cell will be the best option we can become the people we don't want to be. Carl wanted us to work together." She says "I know," He nods, "Go and rest and I'll sit with him for a while." Blade looks at him and sighs "I can't sleep knowing Daryl is out there. I'll go check the prison cell to make sure it's prepared to put this bastard in there." She says "Good" He nods and smiles reassuringly “He will definitely come back" He says.
Blade nods and walks to where the cell is and looks around. At least there's a little window and there are cell bars, not a big heavy door like at Sanctuary. Daryl, meanwhile, is ransacking stores looking for three specific things, he has to find them or he won't come home. Blade sits in the cell on the mattress on the floor and sighs knowing he will be in here for however long. Daryl returns after dark, parks the motorcycle in front of the house, turns off the engine and sits on it for a while, staring at the space in front of him while biting his lower lip. The things in his backpack are suddenly heavy on his back, he knows it's a brave thing to do, but he's shaking inside. Blade just now walks out of the prison well and walks outside and sees Daryl and smiles softly. his palms sweating as he gets nervous, breathes deeply and gets off the motorcycle. Blade smiles and starts walking towards him and looks into his eyes.
"Where the hell have you been?" She asks Daryl to jump up at the sound of her voice, he looks at her. "I had to leave for a while" He says as he motions to the house Blade looks at him confused and sighs. "I'm sorry darling, I had a talk with HIM." She says she notices he is nervous. "Are you doing okay?" She asks "Yes I’m ok " He nods slightly and smiles gently. "I'm not mad." He says.
Blade smiles softly "You seem like you have something on your mind?" She asks "I don’t" He says shaking his head "At all..." He says entering the house, takes his backpack with him to the basement. Blade watches him and looks confused. She just decides to go into the living room and sits on the couch. Daryl returns, wipes his hands on his pants "Shall we eat something?" He asks. Blade looks up at him "Oh um sure I guess." She says softly "You make dinner, and I'll take a quick shower" He says in his hand he holds fresh clothes Blade looks at him and sighs "Oh okay then." She says as she starts making spaghetti.
Daryl takes a quick shower and is back just a few moments later, but first he goes into the basement takes something from the basement and goes back upstairs. Daryl sits with the package on his lap, hides it so Blade can't see. Blade looks up at him and smiles. "You look very handsome Daryl. I love your outfit." She says sitting down on the chair. Daryl blushes, hides his face behind his hair and bites his lower lip. Blade looks at him. "Should I go get changed to look pretty or no?" She asks about getting up. "You don't have to," He shrugs his shoulders, "But I'd like to." She says.
Tumblr media
Blade smiles and giggles. "Alright I'll be right back." She says as she quickly goes upstairs to change. A black cloth lies spread out on the bed in the bedroom. Blade looks at it and smiles thinking about Daryl that he got this for her. "Daryl." She says smiling as she rolls her eyes and she puts it on and looks at herself in the mirror and loving what she sees. She goes to the top of the stairs and slowly walks down the stairs. "So? How do I look?" She asks him, standing his face away from her.
Tumblr media
Daryl turns slightly when he hears footsteps on the stairs, smiles slightly at the sight of her. “The effect is even better than I thought when I saw the dress on the rack” He says. Blade smiles and turns around showing how it looks on her. "I love it. Thank you Daryl." She says "Beautiful" He smiles broadly "I have something else but it's after we eat ok?" He says. Blade smiles and blushes and looks at him confused and shrugs “Alright Daryl let's eat, I made spaghetti." She says as she walks over to the table and sits down on the chair.
Tumblr media
Daryl remains silent throughout the dinner, his leg hopping nervously Blade looks at him as she eats and puts her hand on top of his hand. "I love you Daryl. You know that right?" She questions him. "I know" He nods "I love you too, Blade Rose." Blade smiles and blushes and finishes her plate and hides her face hiding the blushes. Daryl laughs quietly as he finishes dinner, pushes the plates further down on the table away from them and pulls something out of his lap and places it on the table. Blade looks at it confused and smiles softly "What's this Daryl?" She asks him, staring at him and then the box. "Open" He nods his nose in the direction of the box. Blade grabs the box and looks at him and smiles and stares at him. "What are you planning Dixon?" She questions as she slowly opens the box "Woman just open it." She rolls her eyes.
Tumblr media
At the very top on there something on the black material lie,
Tumblr media
just below them is
Tumblr media
and under that
Tumblr media
Blade takes the cloth off the box and smiles at the knives and then under that seeing the shirt and then sees the underwear and looks up at him and giggles and blushes. "I love all of this. I was thinking it would be something else but I love this too." She says softly looking up at him. "You said you wanted a pina colada but I couldn't find the damn drink but I got a sweatshirt" Blade smiles and giggles. "Okay what about the knives?" She asks Blade smiles softly thinking to herself thinking he was going to give her a ring but the gifts are a sweet gesture. Daryl smiles slightly. grabs her hand. "You know I have no experience in all this but there is something else" Blade looks at him and smiles holding his hand "Oh great more surprise I’m loving these gestures of love with gifts." She says softly.
Daryl takes a deep breath " I know things have been happening a lot lately, that conditions will never be perfect but..." He pulls a small bundle out of his pocket "You are the love of my life Blade Rose, you are the first woman I feel so comfortable with, someone I can tell everything to and won't judge me. For the first time I felt truly loved.” He says. He slides the paper in her direction "I will understand if you say it is too soon or that you are not sure you want to do it, would you like to spend the rest of your days as Mrs. Dixon?" He asks. Blade looks up at him tearing up as she uncovers the ring and smiles and looks into his eyes after seeing the ring and nods. "Yes Daryl I would love to. Marry you." She says crying tears of joy.
Tumblr media
Daryl blushes but grins ear to ear and slips the ring on her finger. Blade smiles and looks into his eyes and kisses him passionately and deeply in tears holding his face. Daryl holds her face in his hands and smiles into the kiss, when he runs out of breath he pulls away slightly Blade smiles and blushes and nods "We'll organize something here among the family and you'll become Mrs. Dixon.” He says. Blade smile and blushes. "I can't wait to be Mrs.Dixon'' She says "I love you Mrs. Dixon," He whispers into her mouth and kisses her again.
Blade smiles and blushes "I love you too Mr. Dixon." She says kissing him again puts her hand on the sides of his neck Daryl finally feels complete, feels he will spend the rest of his life with this woman, even if it were to be short. Blade finally feels happy even if the world has gone to shit she is happy to have Daryl in her life to love and protect her. Daryl pulls away from her slightly. "How about you try on some underwear and put a pina colada sweatshirt over it?" He moves his eyebrows significantly.
Blade smiles and giggles as she goes to grab the sweatshirt and the underwear and goes into the bathroom that was downstairs. Daryl cleans up after dinner and smiles to himself like a fool. He looks out the window, he never would have guessed that in this world he would have a fiance, hell he never even thought about it in his normal life. Blade smiles and gets in her outfit and looks at herself in the mirror and giggles, loving the outfit she walks out of the bathroom into the living room. Daryl stands with his back to the living room and stares at the view outside the window. He can be happy even with Negan in his cell, nothing can spoil his happiness. Blade starts making a little bed on the floor in front of the fireplace and has a pillow and blankets.
Tumblr media
"Hey honey can you make a fire? It would be nice to cuddle in front of a fire." She asks "Sure, I'll go outside for wood" He smiles and leaves Blade smiles and sighs and sits on the floor in front of the fireplace. She will go visit that asshole in the morning she wants to enjoy being with Daryl especially after being proposed to. Daryl returns with the wood lights a fire in the fireplace and sits down next to Blade. "Good size?" He slides his hand down her thigh. Blade smiles and nods and puts her hand on top of his hand. "Yes it fit perfectly. Thank you. I love you Daryl Dixon.” She says “I love you too Blade Dixon.” He says.

The Deal Chapter 35
Negan didn’t take Carl and me somewhere and ditch our bodies after beating our brains out with his best girl, Lucille. Sadly. Instead, he took us on a road trip. Back to Alexandria. He regaled us, the entire way there with all the ways that he COULD have killed Carl. How he could have forced me to have to watch him put down my baby brother for daring to attack as he had.
I let his bullshit roll over me. I’m learning, slowly, that Negan loves the sound of his own voice. And he truly adores putting fear into the hearts of those who allow it. Instead, I watch out the windshield as we drive along the road. Abandoned cars. A smattering of walkers. And the feeling of being fully aware of everything for the first time in a long time.
When we arrive at the gates, no one dares to stop us from coming inside. With both Carl and me at his side, Negan makes his way to Dad’s house. And, instead of walking in like he owns the place, which I’d expected, he knocks. Olivia, the woman who’d kept the inventory for the armory and pantry answered, and I wondered if she was my replacement in my former house.
I can’t remember having much interaction with her before, when I was still an Alexandrian. It doesn’t strike me as very strange how intimidated she seems by Negan. He’s a hard pill to swallow when he’s trying to play therapist, but when he’s just being himself, well then you see an asshole in full bloom. She tries to get rid of us, because whether she understands or not, Negan and I are a matched set right now. She tells Negan that Dad is out scavenging, that he probably won’t be back by the end of today. I wonder if Michonne went with him, and that’s why she’s here, to watch my baby sister.
She talks about how they’re low on supplies, how they’re practically starving, and then Negan shows just how fucking charming he is. A raised eyebrow. He looks her up and down and insults her by insinuating that since she’s curvy, that he doubts her sincerity. And, yes, I’m editing his bullshit, because it was disgustingly mean. He catches my eye, and sees my glare, so he tries his hand at apologizing.
Of course, this is Negan we’re talking about so once he tries to say sorry in his own classy way, he follows up with an offer that has me rolling my damn eyes. “I think it would be enjoyable to screw your brains out. I mean if, you know, you’re agreeable to it.” Dear fucking Christ, does he have a filter at all?
And Olivia, who I can’t recall much about, does something that has me fucking grinning from ear to ear. She slaps him straight across his smug, arrogant face. The crack makes my heart sing.
Negan ruins the fucking experience by telling her, after she rocks his fucking head on his shoulders with that slap, “I’m about fifty percent more into you now. Just saying.” Ugh. Seriously? He catches whatever look I have on my face, smirks at me, and winks. Could he be more crude and annoying?
He dismisses her, letting her leave his royal presence to fix lemonade that he knows he left behind. Powered lemonade is his newest whim, and I wonder if Olivia had it in her to fucking poison him.
Of course, we couldn’t just drop my little brother off at home, get back in the damn box-truck, and head the fuck back from whence we came. Now, where would Negan’s fun be in that?
Olivia, acting as though I’m an enemy too, stays in the house as Negan takes a grand tour. Taking off his boots, testing the carpet in Carl’s room with his bare feet, I have to wonder if he’s truly enjoying the feel of it because of the novelty, or if he’s checking to see if wiping his bare ass across it would cause him discomfort. Watching the steady stream of water as though he’s never had it before. He looked around what had been my room with interest. Uncomfortable interest, as though he’d find something more about me. Good luck.
And then, as we passed the room where Judith sleeps, he goes to open the door and I shake my head and tell him it’s just another empty room. He squints at me, and puts his hand on the doorknob.
“Really?” I ask him, raising my eyebrow. “Why are you interested in empty rooms?”
He calls my bluff and opens the door, and there she is. My little sister, the ONLY thing I regret leaving behind. And the ONE person in the world that I wanted to protect, from him, from the world at large and he’s found her.
“Oh my!” He doesn’t raise his voice, as he draws nearer to her, and handing Carl his precious Lucille, he almost seems in awe of her. “Look at this little angel.” And then she’s in his arms, and he’s being incredibly gentle with her, as he looks over her sweet blonde curls at me. His tenderness is a surprise, even if he’d never shown me the mean streak I knew ran in him.
Judith is holding a stuffed elephant as he bounces her gently in his arms. He takes a minute to study her, and then looks once again at me. And I wonder at the clear question in his eyes. What could Negan possibly want with this? With Dad’s life? With mine?
Negan makes himself at home in Dad’s house. He shaves with Dad’s straight razor, giving Carl advice like “against the grain, always go against the grain”. He’d handed Judith to me before he went into the bathroom, and I started to turn away, to take her somewhere alone, but he stopped me. “No, sweetheart, you both stay.” Shooting a look at my brother he corrects himself. “All three of you stay.” Which is why I’m having my unscheduled visit with my baby sister in full view of the man I’d assumed would kill me.
While he’s shaving, giving out advice to Carl, he keeps watching me with her. As I quietly talk to her, running my hand down her soft curls, and checking her for signs that she missed me. Even a tiny bit. I can’t stop myself from kissing her head. From entertaining her with her stuffed animal. And I work hard to block out Negan’s interest. Pretending that he’s not filing my reactions away for another round of my therapy when we head back to his domain.
He fixes dinner. Spaghetti sauce from scratch. Noodles, obviously. And he enlists Carl to make rolls. Me? For once, since I offered myself in Glenn’s place, he allowed me to sit at the dining room table and have peace away from him. Still in view, of course, but at a distance. With Judith. And get lost in her, if only for a little bit.
Olivia returned with the lemonade, and I could feel her glaring at me. Her urge to grab Judith from my arms, to keep her safe from ME was clear as a bell on her face. I could also tell that Negan had noticed. “Be a lamb, Olivia, be a lamb.” He was reiterating what he’d said when he requested the lemonade earlier, only now the term that I’d taken as a taunt to the other woman, took on a new meaning. A warning, I could hear it in his voice. A threat, a reminder of who he was, and that I was with him was so evident that she rushed into the kitchen to make the drink.
Once dinner was prepared, we settled around the table, looking for all the world like a family dinner with a tinge of hostage situation. There’s an extra place setting, but I’m so wrapped up in my baby sister that I don’t pay attention to the why. I’d kept Judith on my lap, but we didn’t start to eat. Negan, clearly waiting for something, or someone. And I knew, he was holding dinner for Dad. A picture he’d created, a scene that would fuck with Dad’s head a little bit more. His children, a member of his community, and the very man who’d bested him, around his very own dining room table with a meal fit for a Sunday dinner from before the world turned to shit.
Negan has the patience of a toddler. Eventually he realized that Dad wasn’t going to return just because he’d set the stage. He finally gave in and asked Carl to pass the rolls. I hated to admit it, and I damn sure wouldn’t let him know, but he made a sauce that rivaled the Italian place that I’d loved while at college. I fed Judith from her own plate. I drank a bit of the lemonade that Olivia had made. And I tried, very hard, to ignore the feeling that Negan was watching me closely.
After eating, Negan decided it was perfect weather to sit on the porch and take in the scenery. He held out his arms, once he’d taken off his jacket, and I reluctantly handed Judith back to him. He took one chair and Carl took another. Negan looked like he was enchanted by my little sister. That in her he saw something that he hadn’t seen in far too long. Did I trust it? That he wasn’t dangerous to her? No. I didn’t. Not because he’d shown violence to me or her, but because the need to keep her safe. The need to make sure that she remained innocent of the world and its dangers was one of the few things that I’d never felt numb to was amplified by my mask developing the cracks that Negan’s meddling had created.
I leaned against the banister in front of them. Close to Negan, since she was in his arms, and I hadn’t noticed that Carl’s eyes were taking in my behavior, and Negan’s.
“So my sister doesn’t get to sit?” He bit out, glaring with his one unruined eye. “She has to stay quiet, she has to just blindly follow you around?”
I closed my eyes to his challenge. He didn’t get it. And I had a feeling no one, not even the rest of my family understood. Why I’d done it, why I had to stay beside him. Carl didn’t see me. No better than anyone else had. Dad had only had a glimpse, and even he didn’t get it.
“Have you seen me order her to stand?” Negan asked. “Have you seen me tell her not to look at you or speak to you?” He was challenging my brother’s assumptions. “Jesus, were you this fucking blind before you lost your eye?” I opened my eyes to see him cradling Judith to his chest. His voice stayed low, quite even, careful not to scare her. “I’ve been thinking about what you’d said earlier, Carl. Maybe it is stupid keeping you and your dad alive.” He pulled Judith forward, bouncing her on his knee and seemingly speaking to her. “I mean why am I trying so hard? Maybe I should just bury you both down there in those flower beds.” A gesture to the manicured lawn in front of us. He was staring into Judith’s tiny face, smiling and chuckling. “And then I can just settle in the suburbs.”
My heart clenched. Fear blossoming in my chest at the thought that my deal with him was all for nothing. That my brother’s actions, that his clear challenge of Negan’s power and his seeming inability to wipe all of us out was a sign that he was weak.
We’d gone back inside Dad’s house. Negan grew tired of taunting my brother and the neighbors. Judith was fussy, too much excitement I’d guessed. He’d given her back to me, watching as I rocked her in my arms and hummed to her. He followed me upstairs to put her down for her nap. Ignoring the dagger glare of Olivia, ignoring Carl’s unasked questions, the hurt that had flickered across his face when he decided that my silence was my own choice.
I was staring down at Judith as she drifted off to sleep clutching her elephant. Leaving her, today, would be more painful than my realization that I'd given her up for the ‘greater good’ had been. Holding her, feeling the rush of feelings that I’d gone numb to, the unconditional love I had for her, made it all the rawer. He watched me, leaning in the doorway, keeping his distance, letting me have this at least.
“I wouldn’t have taken you for the maternal type, Jessi.” He kept his voice down, so Judith could rest. “I didn’t know that you fucking had her here, that she depended on you.” I could feel the intensity of his attention. “That you sacrificed your need for HER when you offered your life to me.”
I hadn’t noticed the tear falling. Didn’t even feel the usual burn warning that I would cry. His thumb brushed it from my cheek, startling me since I hadn’t heard him come closer. I kept my head down, drinking in Judith’s tiny person. Savoring it, memorizing it, so I could take this little piece of her with me. “Do you want to stay?” It was barely a breath. “Jessi, do you want to stay?”
I shook my head. A deal was a deal. And I wasn’t a shirker. Plus, I’d seen the look on Olivia’s face. The judgement. The insinuation that I was a traitor. A turncoat. In bed, I imagined her look inferred, with the enemy.
“No, I don’t want to stay.” I answered, keeping my voice as quiet as he did. “There’s nothing left here for me, nothing aside from her.” I couldn’t stop myself from running my hand down her back. Touching the softness that I’d taken care of for so damn long. “And she has other people for that now, to keep her safe.” It hurt to acknowledge that I was so easily replaced. That Dad had handed her care, her safety over without effort.
He left me there, letting me have my quiet and solace in the company of a sleeping little girl that had become my only reason to keep the motions going. The only reason that I kept up my mask. The only reason that I’d survived, even if I wasn’t living.

Save Me: Chapter 28 - Look Death in the Face
~Hey guys! Chapter 28 is out now!! Negan finally gets what has been coming to him for a while...Will Molly be able to deal with his fate? I hope everyone is having a good week :) Love you all <3~
This was it. For both leaders, it was finally time to look death in the face and accept it. For most, this was the physical death of their enemy, whereas for Molly, this meant the emotional death of her loved one in her heart and her former self.
Rick and I led them across the field and towards the Sanctuary which we could now see in the distance.
Everyone was focussed and determined, no fear now just pure hatred, except me.
As we all moved stealthily as one we were halted by a loud blood curdling whistle.
It was them.
The noise surrounded us as it felt like it came from all directions.
I looked at Rick and Maggie who were turning around frantically trying to find out where the noise came from.
My heart felt like it was pounding in my mouth as my breathing became more rapid.
I squinted to try and see any Saviours over the hill, there were none yet that haunting sound ensued.
All of a sudden a voice on a megaphone tauntingly shouted 'well shit Rick! Would you look at that? I just ambushed your ambush with an even bigger ambush!'.
Shit it was Negan. He sounded vengeful, almost dark.
I pictured his eyes which wouldn't be that light shade of amber anymore.
He wanted us all dead, I knew that now.
Rick was getting pissed off now.
'How about you step out and face us?' he shouted.
We heard a loud chuckle then Negan said 'Oh Rick I am everywhere! Pick a direction to run, see how you do. Make it fun for all of us!'.
We couldn't escape even if we wanted to, Rick would never let this go.
'Guess what else I did...I brought some of your old friends' he said confidently.
If my ears could prick up, they would have now.
I knew he meant Eugene but the only other would have been Gabriel, but we all thought he had escaped.
'You remember your old buddy Eugene? Well, he is the one that made today possible. Same goes for Dwighty-boy here' Negan shouted.
I looked at Rosita who was scowling now at Eugene's betrayal.
I just hoped he would do the right thing, everything was riding on that.
He knew about Dwight's helping us.
Even though I never forgave him for Denise, neither would Tara, I still couldn't let him die.
I readied my gun when Negan said 'In case you were wondering, he didn't ream you on purpose. No, he's just a gutless fucker that sucks at life and now he gets to stand up here and watch you all die, he has to live with that'.
At this the Saviours stepped forward and formed a line in front of us so that they just peaked over the hill.
'Gabriel, well he's gotta go too. We are cleaning house today Rick' Negan added.
I looked through my binoculars to see Negan holding a gun up to Gabriel's head and Dwight standing beside them, wearing a prisoner uniform.
I scanned for Simon frantically, wanting to take a shot at him first, but he wasn't there.
At all.
Negan was there to show his full force and would've brought his right hand man, unless he was dead.
I smirked vengefully just thinking about it.
'And then there's you. It never had to be a fight, you just had to accept how things were. So here we go, congratulations Rick! This is all on you, you can blame yourself for Molly now as well' Negan said almost with a twinge of sadness in his voice.
Why would Rick blame himself for me?
I shot him a confused look, until the realisation hit me.
He had told him I was dead. What if Negan's anger towards 'mourning' me was gonna get us all killed.
Rick just looked at Negan, avoiding my gaze.
'Goddamn it Rick!' I whispered to him, even Michonne shot him a look of disappointment.
'Three, two, one...' Negan counted down until we heard a loud bang and Saviours dropping like flies.
He had done it! I smirked as I looked at Eugene.
'Now!' Rick shouted as we ran towards them.
Negan's gun had backfired and a casing had torn through his right hand.
'Eugene!' he yelled in pain.
Gabriel punched him in the face as Dwight tried to wrestle him against the bonnet of his car.
Negan managed to push him off with Lucille and ran towards the woods.
'He's running!' Maggie shouted as Rick went after him.
'Keep going! To the rendezvous point, the others should already be there' I shouted to everyone else as we gained on the Saviours who were falling to their knees.
'Don't shoot! Please. We're done. It's over' Laura said as they all put their hands up and surrendered their weapons.
I nodded to her, she had been kind to me at the Sanctuary and after all Rick only wanted Negan dead.
Once they had surrendered, I ran after Rick.
My heart pounding out of my chest and my breathing becoming more irregular when I saw Rick and Negan by a tree with stained glass hanging off its branches.
Negan's POV//
Rick came rushing around the tree as I knocked him to the ground with Lucille.
'Just so you know, the eeny meeny miny moe, that was bullshit. I made a choice, I just didn't wanna kill kid's dad right in front of him. Turns out, that would've been the best thing I could've done. Had I done it, that kid might've still been alive' I taunted.
At this Rick kicked my legs, knocking me off my feet as I fell on my back.
'You're beat. Your people are down' Rick said breathlessly.
I groaned as I stood up slowly, saying 'I'll get out of it, I always do'.
'It's just you and me Rick. You, you are torn open. I am bigger, I am badder  and I got a bat' I said smirking at him lying there on the grass.
Like hell I was gonna die.
'We can have...a future' Rick said, his voice straining on every word as he winced in pain.
I smiled, saying 'I know I will'.
He tried to stand up and pleaded, 'just give me ten seconds. I can tell you how'.
I scowled at him, thinking about Molly and how she might be dead because of both of us.
'No' I answered.
'Please just give me ten seconds for Carl' he begged, now standing.
I paused and nodded.
Now I started counting, 'ten...nine'.
'Carl said, it doesn't have to be...be a fight anymore' he said struggling to speak.
I held Lucille up and scowled saying 'he was wrong, eight...'.
Rick panted and said 'no, no he was right'.
My scowl hardened at his pleading for his life until I saw her.
Molly was standing there, behind Rick.
Tears fell down my face as I looked at her.
'M-Mol...' was all I managed as suddenly Rick ninja sliced open my jugular with a piece of glass he found on the grass.
I dropped to my knees, my gaze still firmly on hers.
I knew I would die and I wanted her to be the last thing I saw.
She gasped and covered her mouth as she lunged forward, Michonne stopping her from reaching me.
The others stood beside her, including the widow.
Rick waited for a minute and walked towards them, blood gushing from my neck as I tried to stop it with my hand.
'Save him' Rick said to some doctor.
Those words rang in my ears as I saw Molly's look of relief and the widow screaming 'No!'.
I wasn't relieved when I heard Rick's words.
I wanted to die, after what I did and who I hurt the most, I couldn't face her.
'No! He can't...he killed Glenn!' the widow shouted as Michonne held her back.
I was fading in and out of consciousness when I felt someone stitch up my neck and cover it with a bandage.
'We have to!' Rick shouted to her as she yelled 'we have to end it! Rick! We have to make it right. It's not over till he's dead!'.
When I stopped bleeding I saw Molly looking down now.
She was happy I was alive, but I knew that changed nothing between us.
I really felt like dying now.
'There's gotta be something after' Rick said to the widow as he now addressed my men.
They still had their hands up, they had surrendered.
'Everyone put your hands down, you're all gonna go home now' Rick shouted as they put their hands down slowly.
'Negan's alive. But his way of doing things is over! Anyone who can't live with that will pay the price, I promise you that. Any person here who would live in peace and fairness, who would find common ground, this world is yours by right' he shouted.
'We are life, that's death! It's coming for us, unless we stand together' he shouted pointing at the distant hoard of walkers.
'Go home, then the work begins. The new world begins. All this, all this is just what was. There's gotta be something after!' Rick yelled as some guys lifted me onto a stretcher and put me in the back of a van.
The fuckers were gonna take me to Alexandria, I knew it.
Molly's POV//
It was a curious feeling, the man I loved was alive and yet dead at the same time.
Tears flowed down my face as I watched them take him away.
I never wanted him dead, but seeing how much his presence affected my family made me feel even worse.
Michonne and I held Maggie as she curled up on the grass and sobbed for Glenn's memory.
I understood Rick and I agreed with him, but seeing Maggie like that broke my heart into a million tiny pieces.
Rosita stood next to us with Eugene who had now returned to us.
'What happened to the guns? That you?' she asked him.
Eugene turned to me as I stroked Maggie's hair and nodded.
'Us. We introduced the sabotage aspect to the manufacturing process unbeknownst to my colleagues which was inspired by Molly's purposeful determination and resilience. Plus a few things you imparted on me before I left. Ergo I created a modicum of phooey for kablooie' he said seriously.
Rosita smiled and turned to me and nodded a 'thank you'.
I smiled back, there was a change in the air after that.
I practically felt people warm to me again.
As I looked around, I saw Gabriel and Eugene but not Dwight.
A rush of panic washed over me as I couldn't see him.
The Saviours were now leaving but I saw Laura and I ran over to her to ask her what happened to him.
She smiled weakly and said that he had left but left a note in one of the cars.
I nodded a thank you and ran back to where the Saviour's cars were.
I checked each one before seeing a small folded piece of white paper stuck to the windscreen of presumably Negan's car.
I looked around me to check no one was there and opened it slowly, it read:
Molly,
I always knew you'd make it, thats just the type of person you are.
A while after you escaped, I helped Sherry get away too. I'm not sure where she is but I promise to always keep looking for her. I'm not coming back.
I don't know whether Negan will be dead by the time you read this, but if he isn't, be careful.
Dwight.
I folded it back up and sighed, the guy had practically predicted it.
Negan was like a cat with nine lives.
Just as I was about to walk back, I saw Negan's red scarf on the front seat in the car.
I hesitated but then grabbed a rock and smashed the window so I could grab it.
I held it between my fingers and pressed it against my cheek.
His smell was all over it and it reminded me of our time together.
I didn't know whether I would ever give it back to him, but I couldn't leave it there.
I stuffed it into my jacket pocket, along with Dwight's letter and set off after my family.

The Walking Winchester Chapter 10
Summary: What Y/N and Darly find in the clearing is not what they expected.
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader
Warnings: angst, asshole Negan, swearing
The sight you seen when you entered the clearing made you stomach turn, Rick and a bunch of others that you had grown close to on were on their. You tried to stop as soon as you seen them in hopes of going unseen by the huge group of people who were surrounding your friends, but the thought was wiped from your mind the moment a pair of hands grabbed you from behind and the voice of the man you hurt earlier spoke up, “you ain’t going anywhere now you little bitch.”
Glancing to your right you see that they have Daryl and are already dragging him towards the rest. The man holding you follows closely behind the two that are dragging Daryl until they reach your line of friends dropping you both to your knees at the end. As soon as your knees touch the ground you spin around in attempts to attack the man behind you only to be met with a backhand. This enrages Daryl and he goes to make an attempt of his own until the door to the R.V. swings open to reveal a tall man holding a baseball bat.
As he approaches the group you take him in fully starting with the bat, from a distance it appears to be a normal bat but really it is wrapped in barbed wire. The hand holding the bat is wrapped in a single leather glove that matches his jacket. Before you get the chance to inspect the rest of his appearance he speaks causing your whole body to go rigid.
“Pissing our pants yet? Boy, do I have a feeling we're getting close,” you hear a voice all too familiar say causing your head to instantly snap up so that you are looking at their face.
“Dad?” you force out interrupting the speech that you could tell he was preparing to make.
He stops the moment the word leaves your mouth and spins around to face you, “Y/N? What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same thing. Last time I saw you was when the hellhounds were dragging you away.”
The moment the words leave your mouth he is picking you up by your forearm and dragging you into the R.V.
“I’m serious Y/N what the fuck are you doing here?” he all but growls at you as soon as the door closes “Hunting thing, saving people, ya’ know the family business,” you reply sarcastically causing him to give you the same look he’d give you while hunting, “fine, I came here with Sam and Dean to help people. We’ve done it before and saved a lot of lives so we figured why not do it again, but I got separated from them.”
“So the note, it was you,” he mumbles so quiet that you barely catch it.
“You found the note?” you ask in confusion, “I left that for Sam and Dean so that they could find me. Now I have all those people relying on me and no way to know for sure that they are going to get out of here.”
“Even if you found your brothers that doesn’t mean that they are gonna help you sweetheart. The issue you and that little group outside is worried about has nothing to do with monsters.”
“I know Sam and Dean, these people are just as bad as monsters and both of them would agree with me,” you state confidently.
“You brothers have been with me for about a week so that shows how much you truly know darling.”
“No, that’s not true. If they were truly here they would have come looking for me by now,” you scoff.
“They were looking for you, but they found me instead and were just too happy to see dear ole’ dad,” your father retorts with a smug smirk, “I’ll even prove it to you.”
Picking up the walkie talkie that is attached to his waist he pushes down the button to speak, “how are things going over there boy?”
There is nothing but static for a minute before you hear Dean’s voice come through, “Everything is running just as you would expect.”
The color drains from your face and your stomach begins to turn at the sight of the cocky smirk your father is wearing, “okay so if they are here you must know about our plan.”
“Oh indeed I do darling.”
“Then why are you doing this?” you ask, your voice shaking out of nerves.
“They killed a whole outpost of our men, do you expect me to just let that go?”
“Your men were taking all of Hilltop’s supplies, making them do all the dirty work while your so called ‘saviors’ reap the rewards.”
“I don’t need you to tell me what my men were doing. I’m the one who gave ‘em the orders for christ’s sake!” he shouts angrily causing you to flinch. Seeing you shrink back your father sighs before speaking again, “you should know that actions have consequences.”
“Can’t you just make an exception for me? I care about these people, they are like family to me.”
“I don’t make exceptions darling, what type of a leader would I be if I did that?”
Hearing that he won’t spare any of the people you have grown to care about you begin to sob causing him to grab you by your upper arm dragging you out of the RV. Part of you expected him to shove you back into the line up but he simply forced you to your knees beside him before he began talking.
“Pay attention,” he demands walking in back and forth in front of everyone, “Give me your shit or I will kill you. Today we invested a lot so you would know who I am and what I can do. You work for me now. If you have shit, you give it to me, that's your job,” he states as if it is something that should be obvious.
“Now, I know that is a mighty big, nasty pill to swallow, but swallow it you most certainly will. You built something, you thought you were safe, I get it. But the word is out now and you are not safe anymore. Not even close. In fact, you are pegged, more pegged if you don't do what I want, and what I want is half your shit. And if that's too much, you can make, find, or steal more, and it'll even out sooner or later. This is your way of life now, the more you fight back, the harder it will be. So, if someone knocks on your door you let us in,” he says before pausing to chuckle. “We own that door so if you try to stop us and we will knock it down. Do you understand?”
When no one replies he looks around the group and speaks again, “What, no answer? You don't really think that you were gonna get through this without being punished, now, did you? I don't want to kill any of you, I just want to make that clear from the get-go. I want you to work for me and you can't do that if you're dead, now, can you? But you killed my people, a whole damn lot of them. More than I'm comfortable with. And for that, for that you're gonna pay,” taking a deep breath he adjusts his jacket becoming more serious than before, “So, now I'm gonna beat the holy hell outta one of you.”
Raising the barbed wire bat he has been carrying since you first seen him he speaks proudly, “This-- this is Lucille, and she is awesome, he proclaims before looking at the group again, “All this, all this is just so we can pick out which one of you gets the honor.”
After a minute of silence your father breaks the tension with a sharp inhale, “Huh, you got one of our guns, no, whoa,” he says, pausing to think for another minute, “Yeah, actually you got a lot of our guns.”
As he is talking he begins walking in front of everyone once again only to stop in front of Carl, “Shit, kid, lighten up, or at least cry a little, he says with a laugh before continuing his walk.
He didn’t stop again until he heard Maggie sniffle, looking down at her disgust and sympathy covered his face momentarily, “Jesus, you look shitty. I should just put you out of your misery right now.”
“No! No!” Glenn shouts lunging at your father and beginning to attack him.
“Stop it! God--!” he shouts grunting from the still coming attack, “Nope, nope, get him back in line.”
“No,” Glenn grunts his objection as two of your father’s men begin dragging him back to his spot, “No, no.”
At this point you can’t keep quiet any longer so you rise from your spot and look directly at your father, “I don’t know what you’ve been through since we last saw you dad but this is not the way. Let everyone go and we can all go home and figure it out together. You, Sam, Dean, and me. This isn’t you, we don’t kill people we save them. You raised me to believe that was my life motto and now you’re running around to be some big bully named Negan? Dad your name isn’t Negan it’s John fucking Winchester and the John Winchester I know wouldn’t be doing this.”
With a laugh your father turns to you and has two of his bigger men hold you in place before turning to the group, “All right, listen. Don't any of you do that again. I will shut that shit down, no exceptions. First one's free since it's an emotional moment, I get it. Sucks, doesn't it? The moment you realize you don't know shit.
At the end of his rant he stops right in front of Carl, “this is your kid, right?” he asks Rick before laughing at the expressionless face the boy is holding, “This is definitely your kid.”
“Just stop this!” you shout before Rick has the chance to say anything, you had grown to care for Carl and refused to let anyone hurt him, even if that person is your father.
“Hey! Do not make me kill the little future serial killer, don't make it easy on me,” your father retorts, “I gotta pick somebody. Everybody's at the table waiting for me to order, but I simply cannot decide.”
“I got an idea,” he says with a laugh a few seconds later.
“Eenie meenie miney mo catch a tiger by his toe,” he calls out walking along the line, “If he hollers let him go,” He says before pausing and pointing the bat at yet another person, My mother told me to pick the very best one and you are it.”
“Anybody moves, anybody says anything,” he calls once he has made his final decision, “and I’ll cut the boy's other eye out and feed it to his father before we start.”
“You can breathe, you can blink, you can cry,” he says nonchalantly before releasing a breathe, “Hell, you're all gonna be doing that by the time I’m done.”

My Brother’s Keeper: Chapter 17
Tumblr media
Negan x Reader/  King Ezekiel x Reader
Summary: Your brother runs away from the Sanctuary and you pay the price. This Chapter: Morgan confronts you about your whereabouts.
Featuring: Morgan Jones
Warnings: Feels, Comfort, Angst, Mentions of Rick Grimes
Word Count: 1600
Read the rest of the story HERE!
Three knocks rapped lightly on the cedar door before the twisting of the brass knob squeaked over them. It was quiet but just loud enough to jolt you from the sporadic dreams you could barely call sleep. This morning’s events were too much for you to take in without giving your identity away to the rest of the Kingdom, so you convinced Dana to give you the rest of the afternoon off.
“Maria,” Morgan whispered, his timbre soft and gray like rain in the middle of the night, “Maria, it’s me.” He let go of the door handle before pushing it open, waiting on you to permit him entry.
“Yeah, come in,” you said against your better judgement, sitting up and wiping your eyes. The sweet release of sleep didn’t do you any favors as the scratches on your back continued to throb. You cleared your throat and wracked your brain for some believable story to give to Morgan, but could think of nothing.
“Dana said you weren’t feeling well,” he started, pushing the door open with one hand as he held a bowl of soup in the other.
“Not really, no.” You ran a hand down your lower back and winced. “You should go,” you grumbled, trying to push him away. “I don’t want to see anyone right now.”
“Nah, I won’t do that.” He set his staff against your dresser and closed the door behind him, slowly stepping into your safe space. “You need to eat, and I know you’re too stubborn to come and get some yourself.”
You laughed, amazed at his audacious generosity that never seemed to falter. How could someone like him exist in a world like this, with all the darkness and evil surrounding you? How could he be so sweet as you continually pushed him away? You didn’t deserve him, there was no way in hell that you could. You didn’t deserve any of this.
“Okay,” you nodded reluctantly, collecting the sheets around your waist as you sat up straight against your pillows.
“That mission Ezekiel sent you on today, what really happened?” He took the container off the bowl of soup and sat down in the middle of your bed, springs groaning from the extra weight.
“Nothing,” you lied, trying to keep the conversation light as he pulled a plastic spoon from a napkin in his pocket.
“Nothing?” he repeated, dipping the spoon into the chicken broth before cautiously blowing on it. He smiled and brought it to your lips, the aroma reminding you of the soup your mother made on those cold autumn nights in the middle of the school year. You remembered the leaves were brown and orange then, crispy as they fell off their branches in unpredictable patterns, the cool breeze tossing them in and out of your neighbor’s yard. If you closed your eyes long enough, you could almost convince yourself that you were back there.
“What do you know about the Saviors?” Morgan poured the broth into your mouth, his other hand under your chin.
“The Saviors?” You feigned confusion, swallowing the bland broth gratefully.
“Maria,” He leaned forward, setting the soup down on your bedside table. He looked at you with hardened features, his face stern like your father’s when he found out you got your first B-.
“Yeah, I know,” you nodded, letting your head hang down by your chest. You didn’t want to tell him, to ruin this pristine image he seemed to have of you. “I uh… you were so quick to protect me that day on the road, I didn’t want to tell you where I actually came from.” You swallowed hard, envisioning the shame and judgement about to shape your friend’s eyes.
“Yeah,” he paused, biting his lower lip. “I didn’t exactly tell you where I came from either.”
“And where’s that?” you asked, wondering if you’d actually get an answer from him.
“I was part of a community called Alexandria,” he started, clasping his hands together. “The Saviors were terrorizing a different group, stealing half of their goods, killing their men, holding them hostage. Rick wanted to…”
“Rick?!” You felt a shiver run down your spine, forcing all the hair on your body to stand on end at the sound of this man’s name. “You mean Rick, Rick… Rick the Prick?” You couldn’t stop yourself even if your wanted to, your ex-lover’s words leaving your lips.
“You know him?” Morgan braced himself, leaning forward as he stared at you. Oh, shit. You’d gone and said the wrong thing. The two of them were clearly close. “Rick Grimes?” He clarified.
“I uh…” you looked around the room for clues on what to say next, anything to change the subject before Morgan’s eyes zeroed in on yours. “I’ve heard of him, yeah,” you confessed, your voice cracking under the pressure.
“Rick wanted to retaliate against the Saviors, stomp them out for good.” He ran a tired hand over his face, shaking his head. “I couldn’t be a part of that, so I took off on the road and ran into you.” He sighed. “How do you know them?”
You let out an exasperated breath, wondering just how much of your story you should actually tell him. If he and Rick were really that close, your history might ruin your friendship altogether. But then again, if they had a falling out over what to do with the Saviors, maybe he’d understand more than anyone. Ah hell, you thought, Ezekiel already knew and he didn’t hate you. And trust goes both ways, doesn’t it?
You decided to tell Morgan the truth. “My family and I were on foot after our van broke down in Kentucky. The Saviors were the first sign of refuge we could find, taking us into the Sanctuary with food and shelter. I was a nurse there, that part wasn’t a lie. The rest of my family had skills useful enough to earn enough points to live decently,” you explained.
“You lived there?” He raised his eyebrows.
“I did,” you nodded, breath still bated. “Things were tolerable for a while until my brother took off with my mom and his wife in the middle of the night. He didn’t say goodbye, he didn’t…”
Morgan blinked slowly as he listened to your story.
“Negan demanded payment for the loss of resources, and he said he was going to burn my dad’s face off unless I…” you trailed off, looking at your feet. Morgan didn’t want to hear this part, but you had to tell it anyways. “Negan did what he wanted with me, dressed me up, brought me here to look for him, made him listen to us while he…” you stopped short, wiping your eyes before any tears could fall onto your cheeks.
Morgan’s breath came faster as your words progressed, his nostrils flaring in anger as he remained silent.
“We found my brother just outside the Kingdom that night,” you paused, looking down at Morgan’s bouncing knee. “I thought Negan was just going to burn his face off when we got back to the Sanctuary, but he… he used his bat instead. When it fell on him, all the sudden everything was…”
“Red,” Morgan offered, placing a trembling hand on yours. He nodded slowly as he squeezed your hand, biting his lower lip again as he tried to keep the rest of his words inside. “All you saw was red.”
“Yeah,” you let a tear fall down your cheek, still amazed at how comforted you were by his presence. “He’s gone now, and so is she.” You closed your eyes as more tears streamed down your face, rippling as they hit the back of Morgan’s hand. “The scratches on my back are from Negan. He sent me here to spy on the Kingdom so I can keep my dad and sister safe.”
“You were with him today?” he whispered.
“While you were at the drop?”
Morgan nodded.
“Yeah,” you admitted.
There was a heavy silence as you watched him process all this information, the details you’d rather him not figure out all coming together as he continued to hold your hand.
“I’m sorry you went through all that. Truly, I am.” He surprised you, blinking a few times as his eyes filled with tears, wiry lashes catching most of them. “The world wasn’t supposed to be this way, Maria.” He shook his head. “We weren’t built for this, but we can go on... for your brother, for my family. We can be better.”
“I know. I’m sorry,” you started, apologizing for whatever wound your story had opened up for him. God, you really were the worst spy on the planet, weren’t you?
“It’s okay.” He smiled without showing his teeth, grinning at the floor. “When you were there… at the Sanctuary, did you hear anything about him hurting Rick or Carl?” His eyes were desperate, searching your face for answers.
“No,” you sniffed up your tears and wiped your face. “Rumor has it he actually likes Rick and Carl.”
“Good,” Morgan nodded solemnly, squeezing your hand one more time before letting go and standing up. He took in a deep breath and pointed to the soup at your bedside table. “I made that for you, you should eat it.”
“Morgan?” You sat up straight as he walked over to the doorway and grabbed his staff. “If Rick does what he asks, they should stay safe.”
“Yeah,” he clenched his teeth, “I’m not so sure that’s gonna happen.

Omg I love it! Daryl then, if it not requested!
This should be stunning haha!
Favorite thing about them: his love and loyalty. Once you’re in his circle you are in it and he’ll do whatever he has to do to protect you. Like when he said he would’ve died for Carl, I believe that.
Least favorite thing about them: he’s dangerously stubborn. He tends to act before thinking which leads to bad stuff every single time. And once he makes up his mind there is no stopping him. It isn’t until someone gets hurt or dies or something goes wrong that he stops and goes “oh I shouldn’t have done that” and then he mopes around for the rest of the season hahaha I swear the first half of season 9 I wanted to choke him lol the one time I was genuinely upset with him 😂
Favorite line: okay so these aren’t gonna be profound and deep but my favorite lines are ones that I find funny. Especially season 1. Daryl slayed me in season 1. “People in hell want slurpees” “better watch your mouth, sunshine” and “I’m gonna kick your nuts up into your throat. I’m gonna stomp your ass” that last one might be in the wrong order but I still love it
BrOTP: still Rick and Daryl. Forever and always Hahahaha
OTP: hi, I’m a Donnie shipper. Never been one to ship characters but him and Connie are heavenly. I BRIEFLY shipped him with Michonne for like 2 seconds back in season 4 lol
nOTP: Daryl & Beth. Daryl & Carol (their friendship is great. Don’t think they’re a fit romantically don’t come for me) lol
Random headcanon: like I said with Rick, I’m not sure cause the only ones I see involving Daryl are romantic and so I’m not really sure hahaha what are some of your fave headcanons for Daryl?
Unpopular opinion: these are always hard cause I feel like I agree with the majority most of the time when it comes to Daryl 😂 I guess my unpopular opinion is I place more blame on Negan for Glenn’s death than I do Daryl?
Song associated with him: Killing Ourselves to Live by Halestorm. Also “I Regret” by Life of Agony
Favorite picture:
Tumblr media
His longer hair is my favorite. I guess scruffy and messy is just my type 😂 thanks for the ask!
