the how is quiet, a deserted place full of dust and low-burning fires, the cheer of hard-won battle left lingering on the threshold of this ancient place.
in front of a long-cracked stone, caspian falls to his knees before the high king of old. he breathes narnian wine out into the dim light, and stares up into amber-blue eyes that hold every shade of the narnian sky.
freshly calloused hands reach out to hold up his chin, to push back at his hair. the very life of narnia hums where kingly skin meets his, where fingertips brush over bruised jaw and cheek, over cut and bleeding lip. a soft smile with the very world in the corners of a cracking mouth lets the fires around them burn anew.
"you must learn to stand rather than kneel," peter says, amusement a melody that burns caspian's skin. "a king cannot stand on buckling legs at every turn."
"i will learn," caspian whispers, too afraid to break whatever spell has come to rest on them. "i swear."
sword-weary hands tug at his head, then brush down to his shoulders to pull him up. "then you ought to start tonight. the throne does not wait."
peter's voice is gentle, yet feels like teeth atop his ribcage. caspian wishes nothing more than to be pried open by the king-turned-boy and back again. he wants nothing more than for narnia to consume him, heart and all. but he is afraid.
"can't i start with the rising sun?"
peter laughs, turns them ever so slightly, and pushes caspian to sit where the legends saw aslan sacrifice his body to the creeping ice. caspian's body turns tense, awe a potent paralysis, when his tired, wine-drunk eyes watch a myth come true slowly get on his knees before him.
"what are you doing?"
peter's night-and-morning eyes crinkle at their edges. his teeth seem bloodied and sharp. "you must learn to be kneeled to."
caspian wonders if his heart will break through his chest like the fleeing bird it seems to be. "i have been kneeled to my whole youth."
peter shakes his head, reaches out a hand to settle on caspian's shaking knee. "it is not the same."
and caspian knows it can't be, because there is a weight pressing down on his shoulders that he's never felt before. suddenly, it feels as though an enormous beast is bearing down on every inch of him, snapping teeth at his neck and talons digging into his thighs. caspian gasps. in front of him, peter looks on with a smile.
"learn to stand," peter repeats, his voice a blade beneath caspian's chin, "weather the strain." his mouth is stretched wide with teeth that do not belong to the image of a boy, his presence a wall before caspian's trembling body. there is blood where his eyes ought to be. his stare remains unrelenting.
a beast in front, and a beast behind. caspian shakes. "it is too much."
peter laughs, then, still kneeling but looming above like an ancient tree, a cavern stretching far beyond what caspian can see. "stand," he commands again, his voice coming from all around. "stand, caspian, or fall."
there are fangs scraping down caspian's spine, something hard prying its way beneath armour and skin. he takes a breath. something growls.
when he stands, his legs tremble. he doesn't dare to take a step for fear of losing his balance on what suddenly seems like a sword's edge beneath his feet.
but he stands. he doesn't fall.
when peter laughs this time, it is a soft, comforting thing, like the setting sun over the laughing crowds outside. his eyes are once again blue-amber in the firelight, his teeth sharp but human where his lips pull back.
"there you are," he hums, pride and satisfaction louder than the words themselves. caspian laughs full of relief, his eyes wet with unshed tears.
he stands where he was kneeling, and he doesn't fall. he holds out shaking hands and twines them in golden hair. "thank you," he says, even as his shoulders burn under the weight.
peter—the very weave of old narnia, a king of times long past and yet breathing the same air as those that only know him from washed-out carvings and whispered songs—only smiles.

My problem with the Prince Caspian movie
The reason i love CN:Prince Caspian is because of how Andrew Adamson squeezed the emotions out of Peter. From the frustration of being an adult locked in the life of a child who wants to return to his land/country, the happiness of returning to that place he loves so much, the sadness of knowing that it was destroyed, the anger of knowing that a descendant of his destroyers would be the one who would ascend to king of his country and the guilt for being forced to leave Narnia again with no possibility of return.
Tumblr media
My post is not to talk about those emotions, but i wanted to mention them anyway.
My post is to talk about my dissatisfaction with how everyone in the movie mocks Peter's words and orders, ignoring the title of high king. Except Edmund and Reepicheep; the rest, from Lucy and Susan, who are his royal sisters, to Trumpkin, Caspian, and Glenstorm, who are his subjects, disrespect his title of high king.
First Trumpkin by not addressing him with respect throughout the film, mocking his nickname, berating him for "leaving Narnia" and then making a fool of himself in the Stone Mountains when they searched for Caspian.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is followed by Caspian, who equally disrespects Peter's position. Caspian is a prince from distant lands who intends to rule lands that he does not know, wanting to review the words dictated by the great king.
There's that scene where Peter suggests infiltrating the Telmarines' castle and Reepicheep asks, "What do you suggest, Your Majesty of him?" and both Peter and Caspian respond at the same time, a staring match ensues between the two which Peter obviously wins. The thing is, Caspian shouldn't have answered Reepicheep's question in the first place because the rightful King of Narnia was present let alone challenge him with his eyes because, I repeat, HE IS THE GREAT KING OF NARNIA and, not least, peter is Older than him. . . Maybe he didn't know it or maybe he did, but humanly Peter at that time was 31/32 years old although he would look like a child and as if that were not enough in the years of Narnia, Peter is 1300 years older than him, while Caspian was around 17 Just years, so...
Tumblr media
Peter's plan to infiltrate the castle would have worked if Caspian had followed Peter's orders and we all know that, but no. He completely ignored Peter's order to go to the door and Susan supported that disobedience, don't get me wrong, but i'll tell you how it is. It's not just Caspian's fault that the infiltration failed, if Susan had supported Peter instead of Caspian, everything would have worked out and Cornelius would have been released at the end of the infiltration.
Caspian's most obvious disrespect towards Peter was challenging him to a duel in front of his people when Peter called him a usurper and it's not entirely a lie, he really was a usurper. From the moment he thought he was the leader of the Narnian rebellion, even knowing that he had called the old monarchs, he became a usurper, or at least it was for me. I understand Caspian will get mad at being called a usurper, but he called Peter irresponsible as if Peter wanted to leave Narnia when he didn't and then dared to duel him on HIS EARTH!?!?!?! The least he deserved was execution.
Tumblr media
Third, Glenstorm. The mere fact that he was looking at Caspian as if he was waiting for his orders to follow the ones he received from Peter is disrespectful.
Tumblr media
Lucy when she pretended to embarrass him by reminding him that it was Aslan who defeated the white witch, not him. I UNDERSTAND that being her sister he has every right to reproach her if she disagrees with something because he is also Monarch of Narnia, but why didn't she do it in private? At that moment, she took away from Peter part of the authority over the others.
Tumblr media
I'm a little glad that at the end of the film in a scene they let us see how Peter showed that his title of Great King and his nickname of magnificent, he didn't have them just for decoration. However, it bothers me that throughout the movie they tried to make him look stubborn when he was just angry and outraged.
Tumblr media
Peter is the character in the entire saga that carried the most weight and yet he did not complain about what Aslan gave him, his greatest wish was to return to Narnia and stay there for the rest of eternity, which he achieved.
That's why i love the movie 50% and hate it 50%.

(Narnia, Dawn Treader spoilers alert!) One of the only complaints about the CoN I have is the lack of epilogue type of content in TVotDT. There’s just so much more that Lewis could’ve given us at the end. Things I wish he’d expanded on:
1. What happened to Caspian? Like, he obviously lives out his life in Narnia as king, but immediately after. What did Aslan say to him? Was there a conversation, or did Caspian turn to find himself alone completely? And did Aslan send him back to the ship magically? Or, the much more probable and heartbreaking option, did he row himself back completely alone? How miserable would that have been, to have gone with your brother and sister, this boy you are just getting to know and love, and one of your most devoted soldiers and friends, only to have gone back alone? The Pevensies are always having to leave, but what about Caspian getting left behind?
2. How did Aunt Alberta and Uncle Harold respond to the change in their son? Are they horrified by the change in such a short time, indifferent, or pleased? It seems like they’re both super indulgent with their son, so are they okay with him becoming a Narnian, or does it disturb them how similar he now is to his cousins.
3. How did Peter (and maybe Susan) respond to Eustace going to Narnia. I’d like to think that Peter and Eustace are both nervous to see each other, but they just immediately click and Lucy is like “is this what it feels like to not be the favorite” and Edmund is like “screw you, but yes”.
4. Do Lucy and Edmund teach Eustace all about Narnia, or just kind of tell him as he asks? Like, do they sit down and just have a Narnia lesson with language, history, geography, etc., or does Eustace one day just ask questions like “wait there’s a Narnian language??” (Because you know he wouldn’t have been paying attention to background noises and everyone would’ve talked to him in English to be nice) or “wait wait wait the first king was a cabby??”
5. Does Eustace still like entomology and ask tons of questions about bugs and stuff in Narnia, or is he ashamed of himself and the frames of dead insects on his desk. (I know he wouldn’t kill any more bugs, but would he avoid the subject all the the time?)
6. What was Ed and Lucy leaving like? Did they make plans to see each other soon, were there a ton of tears and choked up hugs?
Idk, I love the book how it is, but I wish there was more shown on the new sibling/cousin dynamic between Ed, Lucy, and Eustace and how the whole trip affected everyone.

Writing Update!!
So We Tried The World, Good God, It Wasn't For Us will remain getting released every Tuesday and Friday, but we've added a one-shot to the series!
We want to keep doing one-shots of Caspian's POV and also the other Pevensies set in this universe, and they shall be released whenever we like! This one-shot is set a few chapters ahead from where we've posted (it aligns with chapter 10), when Narnia is introduced to the story.
What Peter is doing will remain a mystery and as such reading this is not a spoiler and can also be read as a standalone! But if you'd like to wait until the series catches up, it should be next Friday that it does.

This is from an upcoming chapter of a more savage narnia (than the one you left behind). I also recently drew a recreation of this scene!
-
“Is there something wrong?” Lady Sylvia asked suddenly. Edmund frowned before realizing that she was addressing him. He must have been caught staring for too long. “Your Majesty?”
There was that little knot between her brows again, as if she did not know how to go about her next move. Her dark eyes flickered over his face uneasily and he found himself grasping for something to say. The last thing he wanted to do was blurt out that he knew she was crying.
So, instead, he settled on remarking rather absentmindedly, “Your hair.”
He almost grimaced at the poor excuse. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Peter slowly turn his head towards him, as if the older boy could not quite believe it himself. Edmund, the legendary silver-tongued diplomat who ran circles around famed lawmakers and foreign ambassadors alike, and all he could come up with to explain his staring was her hair?
Lady Sylvia blinked up at him in surprise before she said slowly, “My…hair?”
“Er - I was just -” Edmund shifted uncomfortably, searching for something to add. He found himself getting rather flustered as she continued to look at him expectantly.
He glanced at Peter, but he was no help, for his brows were raised high as he waited eagerly to see how his brother would get himself out of this little conundrum. Edmund resisted the urge to shove him and cleared his throat.
“I was just observing – that is, the style is not very Narnian-like, that’s all I meant.”
To be fair, Edmund’s expertise did not extend to the fine art of hairstyling. He did not pay much mind to it in either time or land, whether it be England or Narnia. His sisters usually had their hair pulled back from their faces and left down their backs in intricate braids, courtesy of the talented hands of their nymph handmaidens.
Lady Sylvia had hair of sable brown, upswept dramatically from her face and tied back with a piece of leather. The rest of her thick locks were left to curl around her face and down to her waist in glossy waves that reminded him of the waters that lapped at the rocks of Cair Paravel.
It was a rather nostalgic fact Edmund discovered and he in no way meant it as an insult, though it seemed that Lady Sylvia had taken it as such. Her face went an array of colours, settling on a deep, angry rogue that made the two boys shift back. She warred with herself and seemed like one who spoke her mind, but she seemed to swallow whatever it was that first rose up in her.
Instead, a sort of sadness seemed to settle over her as she sighed and shook her head, more at herself than at them as she whispered, “No, I suppose it does not. Then again, I am not very Narnian at all, am I?”
Lady Sylvia looked up then, revealing a new shine of tears welling up in her eyes. She gave the two kings a rather weak-willed curtsey and smiled wetly, “If you will excuse me, Your Majesties. Caspian will be wondering where I am. We will be off soon so we must make haste.”
Without waiting for their reply, Lady Sylvia whipped around in a fierce flurry of gold skirts and dark curls and stormed off back towards the party, leaving the two boys gaping after her.
Edmund, mentally kicking himself, slouched. He was unable to hide the grimace that crossed his face as Peter turned to him, blue eyes wide with shock as he said, “What did you just do?”

Hi!!! May I request a imagine of how the Pevensies + Caspian act in front of their crush? Thanks a lot 😊
Thanks for the request!
Pairing: Pevensies + Caspian x neutral reader
Warning: fluff
Gifs belong to their creators.
PEVENSIES + CASPIAN ACTING IN FRONT OF YOU, AKA THEIR CRUSH:
LUCY
Tumblr media
Lucy would talk to you a lot, sharing so much about herself and her life. She likes that her crush knows details about her, since she cares about every little thing. She is pretty confident, so she has no problems finding ways to be alone with you to have a chat with you. "I'm sorry, maybe I tend to talk too much sometimes." She also apologises with the sweetest smile, but you shake your head. "Your Grace, I love listening to you. Please, go on." You invite her and she softly smiles.
EDMUND
Tumblr media
Edmund is a shy, so he would tend to simply look at you and maybe get embarrassed for no reason. He really likes you and he's trying to summon up the courage to tell you. Whenever you're around, he becomes a mess: he is suddenly clumsy, he stutters, he blushes. You find him lovely, but you also know that you need to make the first move. "Your Higness, would you like to go for a walk together?" You ask, out of the blue. He almost chokes. "W-what? A walk you and me alone?" He asks you and you chuckle. "If you want to, obviously." You add and he nods, his cheeks getting pink. "I would love to, Y/n." He says and you smile at him, happier than ever.
SUSAN
Tumblr media
Susan would love to listen to you, instead. When you're around, her full attention is immediately yours. She likes the idea of getting to know you through your own stories, so she asks you many questions about you and she listens. She is confident and has a strong personality, so she wouldn't be shy at all and she makes it clear that she likes you. "You're the most interesting person I've ever met." She simply tells you after you tell her something new about yourself, and you smile, your heart pounding faster.
PETER
Tumblr media
Peter would be so flirty. He knows whaf he wants and he does his best to get close to you. You captured him in a way no one else did before so he immediately percieves that you mean a lot to him. When you're around, he flirts. He compliments you a lot and he is so thoughtful, he eventually ends up simply being honest. "Your Majesty, you're staring." You tease him, knowing he loves to play. He smiles. "It's because I like you so much." He confesses. You almost stumble back in surprise while widening your eyes and he chuckles, aware that he dropped the bomb.
BONUS + CASPIAN
Tumblr media
Caspian is absolutely lovely, but slightly shy. He surely tends to come to you a lot, to search for your eyes and to look at you, but sometimes he can't find the right words to talk to you, always overthinking and being afraid to bore you or to say something stupid. He mostly waits for you to go talk to him, but when you do, he easily finds his flow and it matches with yours. "I love talking to you, King Caspian." You say, knowing that it's a risk but you want to take it. He looks at you with his deep brown eyes, the prettiest smile on his face while he runs his hands through his long hair. "It's completely reciprocal, for you are an amazing person." He finally says what he really thinks about you and you smile, your cheeks turning pink.

Confessions pt. 2
Edmund pevensie X Reader
Summary: Things between Edmund and Y/N have seemed to have smoothed over, but she can't shake the feeling that Lucy and Susan may have been right...
A/N: i had the whole thing typed out, and then it kicked my off and didnt save anything😭👎 but here's pt. 2, finally. it's short:)
Part 1
Tumblr media
"Edmund! Wait up!" Y/n exclaims chasing the boy along the beach. He had finally stopped ignoring her, and it was back to normal between the two.
"No, come on Y/n!!" Edmund says laughing as his feet hit the water. The girl stops and takes a moment to study the boy as the sunlight glistens against his fair skin, his hair blowing slightly with the breeze. Ethereal she thinks to herself before running to him. "Took you long enough!" He teases and splashes some water up at her.
"Oh you're so on Pevensie!" She squeals before leaning down and splashing a handful back at the boy with a mischievous grin. He shakes his head smiling before (poorly) running after her through the water. Laughing and splashing the whole time. Edmund catches Y/n in the water and holds her close. His heart pounding so hard she can feel it against her chest. breathing heavily she looks up at him,
"I've missed this, us. I didnt mean to make you upset these past few weeks if thats what it was Ed, I'm just happy to have my best friend back," He pulls away, and looks at her with guilt,
"Y/n I'm sorry. You didn't make me upset, I just," he trails off thinking over what he's to say to the girl to make her believe it's not her fault.
Peter and Caspian had always teased the younger boy about his best friend, over any and everything.
He'd save her spot at the table beside him, and "ooos" could be heard from the two snickering boys across the table.
Once he'd finished a book and had annotated it for her as a birthday present. She was so happy with it she gave him a kiss on the cheek, making him turn ripe red.
"Did you see that? He's a red as a tomato!" Peter exclaimed with a shit eating grin nudging Caspian.
"Do you want one from me as well Ed?" Caspian said laughing, simply making the poor lovesick boy shrink back with embarrassment.
Even thinking about it now makes him cringe. He had just been so angry with them that he stopped talking to Y/n all together to avoid the teasing remarks. He feels terrible about it now, but with all the time away from her, he's come to realize he really does have feelings for the girl. Sighing, he shakes his head.
"Look, it really isn't your fault at all. I was just so sick and tired of the constant teasing I got about you from Caspian and Peter. I know that isn't a reason to avoid you, and I feel horrible about it honestly. Distancing myself from you has been terrible and boring and I wish to never do it again. It made me realize some things though Y/n." He takes a breath, "I am in love with you, truly and completely in love with you. I mean of course I am, you're so kind and understanding. You're lovely and funny. My family loves you. You're the only person I feel comfortable around one hundred percent of the time. I feel no need to hide any part of me from you. Y/n I don't know what I was thinking when I tried to push you away. I just know I don't want it to happen anymore, and I understand if you don't feel the same way and just want to be friends, but I need you to know I love you. So much and that I'm so sorry for making you think you did anything wrong."
He looks at her, scanning her face for a sign of resentment or disgust. Only to see her break out into a huge grin. She pushes him,
"You idiot!" She exclaims shaking her head, "Honestly Edmund, how stupid do you have to be to not realize that I've been in love with you for months." His eyes widen,
"what?" he questions her, "that's not funny. Did Peter put you up to this?" She shakes her head,
"No. Edmund Pevensie I am in awe of you. From your goofy grin to the bed head of yours, I love it all." She smiles at him.
"Can I kiss you?" he asks, his voice small, "Please?" A smile breaks out on her face and she nods. She'd thought about what'd it be like to kiss Edmund many times. It was nothing like this, this was everything and so much more. He was gentle, his lips soft against her own. Her hands went to his hair, and he smiled into the kiss before pulling away.
"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do that." He says and she nods,
" I think I know how you feel," she laughs, "and for future reference. Don't ignore me again." she pushes him lightly, and he grins,
"I won't, I promise." He says as they start to walk back to the castle hand in hand.

"𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲!" 𝐇𝐨𝐠𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐔
════════════════════════
Summary: Caspian asks you to the yule ball.
AU: Hogwarts
Pairings: Caspian x fem Slytherin! Reader, platonic Pevensies, golden trio, and the Weasley twins x fem Slytherin! reader
════════════════════════
Warnings: Caspian being a tiny bit jealous but all fluff
Words: 2.6k
A/N: I started this over a month ago, but I finally came around to finishing it. Also, the house doesn't really matter but I wanted to slightly do a self-insert but it's still a reader story.
𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘹 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵
════════════════════════
The Triwizard Tournament was the biggest thing that has happened ever since Sirius Black was spotted in Hogwarts. In all honesty, you thought the tournament was stupid, since who would voluntarily sign up for a death tournament when you’re barely 17. Susan and Lucy also agreed with your thoughts on the tournament, but Peter, Caspian, and Edmund would disagree.
But the only positive that the tournament brought was the Yule Ball. You’ve always wanted to go to a ball again ever since the Pevensie’s had invited you to their Christmas Ball the year before.
Now you were in the Great Hall studying with Susan at the Ravenclaw table discussing the ball.
“So, Susan who do you think you’re going to go to the ball with?” you ask.
“Well, I was hoping that maybe George would ask me,” Susan says with a slight blush on her cheeks.
“Wait a minute. You, the Ravenclaw prefect who likes to uphold the rules, want George Weasley, a notorious prankster that likes to break said rules, as your date to the Yule Ball.” You dramatically gasp out at Susan.
“Oh shut up y/n! Says you, you’ve been pining after Caspian for the past 5 years.” Susan exclaims a little too loudly for your liking.
You slap her arm, “Why don’t you say that any louder I don’t think Ilvermorny heard you.” you hiss at her.
“Ow,y/n!” Susan rubs the spot where you hit her. “Plus you know I’m right, so now’s your chance to do something before someone else snatches Caspian as their date,” Susan tells you.
“I know, I know, but I don’t want to ruin our friendship.” You say while looking over at Caspian at the Gryffindor table laughing and messing around with Peter and the Weasley twins. You laugh slightly when he gets hit in the head with Snape’s book. The Pevensies, Caspian, the twins, and the golden trio never minded that you were a Slytherin. The twins usually referred to you as a “good Slytherin”, but you inhabited the best traits of the house and they admired it about you (mainly Caspian).
“You really like him don’t you?” Susan says knowingly. “I really do Susan.” you sigh out.
════════════════════════
Meanwhile at the Gryffindor table…
════════════════════════
“I need your guys’ help to ask y/n to the ball,” Caspian asks the group frantically.
“Wait y/n? The Slytherin in your and the twin’s year?” Harry asks curiously.
“Yes and I’m afraid she won’t say yes.”
“Mate, trust me she’s head over heels for you,” Peter tells him. “I hear her gush about you to Susan whenever she is over at the manor.” “Oh did you see Caspian at Quidditch practice, his long hair, his enchanting dark eyes.” Peter mocks you with a higher pitch voice. Caspian cheeks flush red but shrugs it off.
“Yeah, anyone can see it Cas, well anyone besides you,” George says, “So my suggestion is to do a grand gesture and she will for sure say yes.”
“Oh Godric, you really don’t know anything about women do you,” Hermione overhears and interjects.
“Well, what’s your suggestion, Granger?” Fred asks her with a raised brow.
Hermione turns to Caspian, “What does she like?” she asks him.
“I know she likes small well thought out gifts, books, flowers, and chocolate?” Caspian answers almost immediately. Everyone looks at Caspian slightly surprised and then gives each other looks like “he’s whipped”.
“Well, there you have it,” Hermione tells him. “Just ask her with some of her favorite flowers and some of her favorite chocolate.”
“But when and where do I ask her?” Caspian asks her.
“Today, I’ve seen a lot of boys eyeing her, and I overheard that Diggory might ask her,” Fred interjects.
Caspian panics a little bit and Peter notices. “Hey, calm down Cas just ask her after dinner down at the Black Lake”. Caspian nods and takes a deep breath to calm himself. Now he just needs to ask you and hope you say yes.
Caspian looks over at the Ravenclaw table where you’re studying with Susan, and he finds you laughing at something Susan said and he can hear your laughter and how you throw your head back slightly.
“God she’s so beautiful,” He thinks to himself with a soft smile on his face. Everyone is looking at Caspian and they all smile because they know that you’ve captured Caspian’s heart. As he is admiring you from across the hall, he notices one of Susan’s housemates, Elliot Hayes, a popular Ravenclaw in 7th year, come up to you and Susan and sit across from you.
Jealousy starts to boil through Caspian’s veins and he grips his quill tightly, almost breaking it as he is thinking back to what Fred had said earlier. Caspian sees Elliot lean forward, no doubt to ask you to the ball and Caspian starts to pray in his head that you decline. He watches the entire thing with a hardened glare and a frown etched into his face. But it softens when he sees you shake your head no and console him, letting him down gently. A spark of hope lights in Caspian, he still has a chance to ask you!
You say sorry to Elliot but he says that he understands and waves goodbye to Susan and you and leaves. Susan has a smirk on her face and you almost want to slap it off of her face. You feel someone’s stare on you and you look over to the Gryffindor table and see Caspian staring at you with a frown on his face. You meet his stare and make eye contact while sending him a soft smile and he sends one back. You slightly flush, break eye contact with Caspian and pull up Susan to turn in your notebook to Professor Snape.
Caspian notices you and Susan leaving the hall so he hurries to scribble some information down in his study books, he stands up abruptly and hurriedly gave Professor Snape his book, picks up his bookbag, and rushes out of the Great Hall to catch you and Susan.
“Wait! Susan and y/n!” Caspian calls out. You both stop and turn around to let Caspian catch up. “Wow, you guys walk fast.”
“Wow, the star chaser of Gryffindor is out of breath.” You tease him.
“ Hey! You know Quidditch was canceled.” Caspian pouts at the thought.
“But you still practice regardless if Quidditch was canceled,” Susan states as if it was obvious.
Caspian rolls his eyes playfully at the fact that both you and Susan teasing him.
“Anyways, I need to ask you something,” Caspian says turning toward you.
Susan notices his hesitation so she decides to remove herself from the equation. “Hey, I’ll meet you back in the library.” She tells you. You slightly panic at the thought of Caspian asking about something (cough cough the yule ball) but you relent and just wave bye to Susan. She sends Caspian a smirk and a look saying “You better do it now”.
After Susan was out of sight, you ask him what he wanted. “Do you want to hang out by the Black Lake tonight after dinner?” Caspian asks you. Hanging out by the Black Lake with just you and Caspian was a daily occurrence, so you thought nothing of it, but you were hoping that he would have asked you to the Yule Ball.
“Of course, Caspian.” You respond to him. “Great well, I’ll see you later!” Caspian says and as he was about to leave, in a burst of confidence he leans in and kisses your cheek. You both flush at his actions and he says another embarrassed goodbye and rushes back to his common room.
You stand in the empty corridor, stunned at his boldness. You snap out of it and start to squeal and jump slightly of excitement until you realize you probably look ridiculous and calm down. You clear your throat and smooth down your robes and with a goofy grin, you make your way down to the library to meet Susan.
You still have that goofy grin on your face when you meet up with Susan. Susan obviously notices your very good mood. “So did he ask you to the ball?” Susan asks you curiously.
“No, he didn’t, he asked if I wanted to hang out with him after dinner at the Black Lake. But he did kiss me on the cheek.” You tell Susan eagerly.
Susan beams at what you just told her. “Wow, I never thought that Caspian would be that bold.” “It must be the Gryffindor in him.” you and Susan start to chuckle at what you said. Madam Pince shushes you and Susan and you both start to stifle your laughter.

After Dinner
════════════════════════
You head down to the Black Lake after dinner. You were confused when you’re friends in Gryffindor had left dinner early, but you thought nothing of it.
As you arrive at the tree that you and Caspian usually hang out at, you see the area surrounded by candles, enchanted lights strung through the tree, and Caspian in the middle of them holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers and a little gift basket of chocolates and your favorite sweets from Honeydukes with a nervous smile on his face. Your jaw drops slightly as you take in the sight.
“Caspian, what is all of this about.” You gesture to all of the lights and candles as you’re walking up to him until you’re face to face with him.
Caspian takes a deep breath, “Well, y/n I was wondering if you would like to be my date to the Yule Ball?” He says a bit nervously.
You stand there stunned, Caspian was actually asking you to the ball?
“Like as a friend?” You ask him. “No, I actually like you a lot, and so I wanted to as you to be my date.”
“Yes of course I’ll be your date Caspian, I like you a lot,” You tell him with a grin spreading on your face. You go to accept his gifts and hug him tightly.
“FINALLY!” you hear a group of people shout from behind you. You both jump away from the hug at the sudden shouts and you turn around to see the Pevensies, the twins, and even the Golden trio applauding you guys. “Great, you actually asked her to the ball, I swear if you didn’t ask her sooner my ears would have started to bleed from how much you talk about her,” Peter says.
“Yeah, it was bloody terrible,” the twins say in unison.
You chuckle at their remarks and you turn around to face Caspian. “So you talk about me to your best mates?” you ask him with a cheeky grin plastered on your face.
“Oh, don’t act like you don’t do the same thing,” Susan calls out. “You’re right and I won’t deny it.” You yell back and everyone starts to laugh at your antics.
“We should start to head back before curfew,” Susan tells everyone.
“Aww, can’t we stay a little longer, little miss prefect.” George asks her playfully pouting while wrapping his arm around her shoulders. Susan flushes red and Peter slightly glares at George, and she stammers until she relents, “Oh okay fine, but only 30 mins before curfew. If not I’ll take away points from our houses.” Susan threatens. Everyone agrees. “Except you Lucy, you have to go now.” Lucy pouts and starts to complain but she stops when she sees Susan’s stern glare.
Lucy remains unflinching of her glare and listens to her older sister. “Fine, but Ed, you’re coming with me.” Lucy starts to pull Edmund away from the Golden Trio to whom he was talking with. “Wait, no! Lucy.” Edmund starts to protest and everyone starts to laugh at the sight of the 3rd year Hufflepuff pulling the 4th year Slytherin back up to the castle.
You guys hung out at the Black Lake until it was time to go before Susan took away points. At one point Caspian gave you his robe when he noticed that you were cold. As you guys were heading up to the castle and about to split up to head to your respective common rooms, “I can walk you to your common room.” Caspian tells you. “No, it’s late and you could get in trouble by Filch.” You protest, but Caspian insists. “Alright, but it’s your funeral.” You relent and let Caspian walk you to the Slytherin common room.
George catches on to his fellow Gryffindor’s plan, he asks Susan if he could walk her to the Ravenclaw common room, she blushes at the request but accepts it with a nod. Peter slightly glares at George but rolls his eyes with a smile and leads the rest of the Gryffindors to the common room.
As you and Caspian head to the dungeons, you guys make quiet conversation to fill the silence, and while you are rambling about astronomy class, Caspian admires you and in another act of courage and boldness, he slips his hand into yours and grasps it. You start to grin at his actions and squeeze his bigger hand and continue on your path to the common room. You and Caspian reach the front of the Slytherin common room and you both are reluctant to let this night end. Facing each other, you both say soft goodnights, and you turn to open and enter the common room.
“It’s now or never y/n,” you tell yourself. You turn around and grab Caspian’s wrist before he leaves, turn him around, and place a soft kiss on his lips. Caspian is shocked at first and you pull away before he can kiss back. You are slightly embarrassed and as you go to apologize for it, Caspian pulls you back into a passionate kiss. It seems to last forever and you guys reluctantly pull away but not before Caspian leaves a few pecks on the lips and rests his forehead on yours, slightly out of breath, and you both have smiles mirroring each other.
“Well, I have to go now Cas,” you tell him breathlessly. He pouts and you giggle at his expression and he brightens at the sound of your laugh. “Alright, but go to Hogsmeade me tomorrow.” “Yes Caspian, I’d be delighted to go with you,” you say excitedly.
He gives you one last kiss goodnight and you enter the common room with a dazed and lovesick grin on your face. Edmund was still in the common room and on one of the sofas. He looks up at who came into the room and sees your lovesick expression and smirks. “So did you have a nice night y/n?” Edmund asks with a smug grin on his face.
“Oh shut up Ed.” You say while rolling your eyes with a lingering smile on your face.
“Today was the best day ever.” You think to yourself, and you start to head up to your dorm to get ready for bed. As you get settled in and start to fall asleep, you dream about dancing the night away with your best friend turned lover.

Y/N
"Princess Y/N?" A faint voice appears in my dream. "Princess!"
I wake up yawning and stretching out my limbs. I whine, what time is it? "Yes, what is it?" I grumble, rolling onto my side.
"Your Royal Highness," the servant greets as they enter my room and I assume they bow. "It's your aunt, she's given birth!"
I fly up from my laid position and immediately climb out of bed. "Take me there at once!"
My maid rushes me to my aunt and uncle's bed-chamber. It's the early hours of the morning, but I don't care! A cousin! Finally! People travel in and out of the room as I turn the corner. Lord Glozelle stands outside the door, guarding it.
He bows his head as I pass, "Your Royal Highness."
I enter the chaotic room, utterly gleaming. A circle of people surrounds the bed, chatter high.
"Auntie?" I make myself known.
The crowd parts, allowing me a path. My aunt lays in her bed, holding my baby cousin. My uncle is beside her, smiling ear to ear as he stares down at the baby.
My aunt looks up at me with a bright smile and waves me over. "Y/N! Come!"
I hurry over to her side, settling down on the edge of their bed. The little boy is wrapped securely in a gray blanket.
"Your cousin, a boy!" My uncle tells me, overjoyed.
My aunt extends her arms out to me, handing me the child. He's utterly precious. The true Telemarine black hair is already on his tiny head.
"Hello! You're so handsome!" I greet him, allowing his small hand to wrap around my finger.
"Y/N, your aunt and I were talking," Uncle begins, glancing between me and his wife. "We would like you to be the Godmother."
My eyes grow wide. "Truly?"
"It would be our pleasure," Auntie giggles, placing her hand over mine.
"I would be honored!" I laugh breathlessly. "Thank you, Uncle! Auntie!"
Suddenly, fireworks erupt outside, signaling the start of the celebration. "A son! A son! Lady Prunaprismia has given Lord Miraz a son!" One of the guards announces from the tower to the village.
"My Lord!" Lord Glozelle barges in frantically. He notices me and bows swiftly. "Your Royal Highness!"
My uncle sighs, a tad annoyed by the interruption. "Yes, Lord Glozelle?"
"It's Prince Caspian, he's gone!"
"What!" I panic and hand the baby back to my aunt before I rise off the bed. "What do you mean gone?"
"It'll be okay, Y/N. We'll find him," Uncle Miraz tries to assure me calmly as he stands.
"Where is he?" I question the Lord.
"My men say they saw him ride into the forest," Lord Glozelle informs.
"What! No! He'll die!" I rush out. "There are Narnians!"
"Those are mere superstitions, your tutor has plagued your mind!" My uncle laughs. "Narnians are extinct. Come Lord Glozelle, we'll begin the search immediately." My uncle stops at me, before departing. He brings his hand to my cheek gently with a comforting smile. "All will be well, Princess."
I nod, praying he's right.
Satisfied, he departs with his men, the room shrinking in population.  I turn my attention to the balcony and the full moon. "Caspian..." I whisper my brother's name, praying he's alright and safe.
________________________________________
 A few days later...
I ride toward the soldiers gathered by the river's side. I take notice of their wagons... they're empty, how odd. I dismount my horse and spot my uncle.
"Uncle!" I call over, gaining his attention.
I hurry over to him, Lord Gozelle, and the other members of Lord's council. They appear to be in a rather heated argument.
"Is everything alright?" I question worriedly. "I was on a ride when your men told me to return to the palace."
My uncle forces a convincing smile as he ushers me away from the men privately. "Yes, My Dear, I'm sorry to have frightened you."
"You're not telling me something," I accuse knowingly. "Is it Caspian?"
Caspian
Peter, Susan, and Trumpkin hide behind a pile of lumber, watching as my uncle and his men discover the mess we've left.
"I say we shoot now," Trumpkin suggests.
Susan preps her bow and arrow. That's when I see her, Y/N... my sister.
"Wait!" I place my hand over Susan's arrow.
"What is it?" She asks.
Miraz ushers her away, his hand pressed to her back. Something's wrong.
"My sister..." I mumble.
"You have a sister?" Peter questions.
"Y/N..." I whisper her name in a daze as I watch her. "She's speaking with my uncle."
Out of my peripheral, I see Peter searching for her. I can tell when he does because his features shift from confusion to astonishment.
Y/N
"Return to your ride. Everything is okay, promise!" Uncle Miraz guarantees. "My one request is that you stay out of the forest. Go straight to the palace."
"It's Narnians, isn't it?" I interrogate enthusiastically as he escorts me to my horse. It would be the only reason the guard has been so jittery and anxious. "They do exist! Oh, I knew it!"
"You and your fairytales," he laughs, helping up onto the saddle. "Be on your way, My Dear. I'll return shortly."
"Alright, I'll go tend to your baby for you," I tease him, sending him a wink.
Miraz
As I watch Y/N ride off down the path toward the castle as I asked, Lord Gozelle appears beside me.
"You should tell her," he advises.
"That her brother is a traitor and has brought back our greatest enemy" I shake my head, turning over my shoulder to join the Lords again. "No, it'll destroy her."
"Why do you care for Y/N, but Caspian is dispensable?"
"Y/N would never betray me," I state with utmost certainty. Then, I snicker. "Besides, she's a young lady. She can't take my throne."
Y/N
I ride along the path that lines the forest. The trees blur as my horse gallops swiftly back to the castle. My mind is wandering with curiosity. Miraz tells me that there's nothing to be worried about, but I can't help and question whether this is true. Abruptly, a cloaked figure appears on the path, blocking my way. My horse becomes startled and I'm bucked off, hitting the dirt with a thud. The wind is knocked out of me and I struggle to catch my breath. The cloaked figure hurries over and grabs me, dragging me off the dirt path.
"Get off of me!" I scream, thrashing about. "I am Her Royal Highness Princess Y/N! I will-" Then, the figure removes their hood and my eyes recognize my brother. "Caspian..." I whisper in disbelief.
"Hello Y/N," he grins.
"You're alive!" I fly up from my position, wrapping my arms around him frantically. Then, I fully process the news and pull back. "Wait until Miraz hears! He's been so worried!"
"No, no!" He rushes out. "You mustn't tell him you've seen me! Y/N, he's behind all of this..."
"What? No, no, that's impossible. He-"
"When he learned he had a son, he sent assassins after me! I had to run!" He squeezes my shoulders urgently. "It's all true! Everything Dr. Cornelius taught us, it's all true!"
My eyes grow wide, it can't be... "You mean about Narnians!"
"Yes! Aslan, the Kings, and Queens of Old, it's all-"
"Caspian, you can't just run off!" A male voice interrupts, followed by rushing footsteps.
"What if Miraz..." A girl begins to shout, but as she, a boy, and a dwarf appear from behind the greenery briskly their eyes land on us.
The dark-haired girl looks down at me strangely, as if she already hates me despite just meeting me. She seems like a know-it-all. I don't even know her name. The boy, tall and blonde, peers at me with parted lips. Surprise not easily hidden. The dwarf, well, he glares a lot. Two out of three already hate me. Caspian must be telling the truth, these truly are Narnians.
Caspian glances between the two and myself. "Y/N, this is-"
"Let me guess, High King Peter," I determine, meeting the boy's gaze.
He appears more astonished than before if that's possible. What? Just because I'm a Telemarine doesn't mean I don't know the legends of Narnia.
"You revealed yourself!" The girl huffs. "She's going to run and tell Miraz!"
"Let me guess, Queen Susan," I remark a bit snarky as I help myself off the ground and brush myself down. "I wouldn't tell."
"Are we just supposed to take your word for it?" Peter challenges.
"Miraz may be my uncle, but Caspian is my only brother," I argue.
"And your loyalty lies with your people, right? Am I wrong?" He presses further.
"And you're loyal to the Narnians?" I snicker mockingly. "Last I checked you disappeared for over a thousand years."
"Even the Telemarine Princess agrees with me," the dwarf huffs with a roll of the eyes.
"At least my family didn't murder millions of innocent creatures," he fires back.
I reach for the dagger resting on my belt and point it at the boy. "Take that back!"
Fearless, he steps forward, directly in front of my blade. "Your entire empire is the reason Narnians are almost extinct!"
"Our father wouldn't have harmed any creature!" I scream.
Caspian wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his chest. "Y/N, Y/N, calm down!"
"Enough of this, we have to return to the camp," Peter announces assertively as he begins to march away. "Bring her."
"No, we're not taking her with us!" Susan shouts.
"We have to!" Peter argues over his shoulder.
Caspian presses a hand to my back, leading me in the direction Peter is headed.
"What? I'm not going!" I challenge.
"Good!" Susan scoffs.
"You must," Caspian tells me calmly. "You know of us now."
"I rather drop dead," I fire back.
"That can be arranged," Peter grumbles ahead.
"Shall I send you back to wherever you came from?" I threaten the former High King.
He turns over his shoulder with a glare. "Anything to be dimensions away from you."
"Stop it!" Caspian finally breaks, looking back and forth between the two of us. "Please..."
"Miraz will send the Lords after me! It's in your best interest to let me go!" I reason with them.
"Perhaps she's right," Susan uncharacteristically agrees with me. "Caspian, we can see her another time. For now, we have to be smart."
Caspian's clearly torn, an internal battle ensuing in his mind. "What if Miraz finds out we've been together. He may retaliate against you."
I frown, "Miraz would never... he cares about me."
"I'll formulate a plan," Peter interjects, causing my brother and me to look at him. "A few men and I will sneak into the castle in two days time. We'll stage it like a kidnapping to avoid any hostility toward Y/N from your uncle."
"That gives me two days to prepare and learn what I can about what Uncle is planning," I try to convince Caspian.
"Very well, but be careful until then," he practically begs, bringing me into a hug.
"Goodbye Caspian," I mumble against his chest as I part from him. This is harder than I had expected. "Now go! Before any guards ride by!"
He nods and begins to back away. "I'll come back for you!"
Susan and Caspian run off in the opposite direction with Trumpkin. Peter lingers behind for a second, walking backward to follow them. "I'll send messages to you until it's time," he informs me. "Be ready!"
I nod, feeling sick to my stomach at the thought of what will happen in two nights. "Yes, alright," I manage to say with my voice shaking.
He nods, satisfied with my response, before jogging off to join his sister and friends. I stand in the woods, alone, utterly dazed and confused. One minute I'm riding home, the next I'm reunited with my brother and learn that Narnians are alive. On top of that, everything about my life that's been concrete, such as my home in the castle and my love of my aunt and uncle are being taken away. My brother or my people? That's the question and I only have two days to figure out an answer.

Don’t Forget About Me
Edmund Pevensie x fem!reader Trigger Warnings: Summary: a/n:
**Voyage of The Dawn Treader time period**
You had joined the crew of the Dawn Treader, with Prince Caspian. From there you had practiced/fought with him all the time. After sometime you had been known as one of the best swordsmen in all the land. However, when you had come across Eustace, Lucy, and Edmund you were quickly knocked down from your pedestal.
“Y/N you must duel with Edmund.” Caspian chuckled. Lucy sat on the steps watching patiently.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to embarrass him.” You smirked, though Caspian sighed.
“You mustn't be so quick to judge Y/N. It would be a shame if he knocked you down while such words leave your mouth.”
Edmund picked up a sword before walking towards you. As you both were fighting you got caught up in the fight you had missed his kick to the leg. You were out beneath him as he held the sword to your neck daring you to move. You couldn’t think of anything, only staring into his eyes.
“What did I say?” Caspian mocked teasingly. But at that point all you cared about was Edmund, he was so intoxicating. It was like there was no escape.
Throughout your time on the ship he had often tried to help teach you more about swords-manship, though you couldn’t focus, and honestly he wasn’t either. So you had decided to take the jump one evening.
It was chilly and most of the crew mates were off sleeping. But Edmund was never asleep now, he waited up to watch the stars. You had saddled up beside him watching as he looked up in wonder. He had yet to notice you as you were barefoot and hadn’t made any noise.
“Edmund, why do you like the stars?” He turned to look at you and you could see the smallest blush on his face.
“They are the second most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life.” He put his hand over yours.
“And what would be the first, my king?” You knew you were getting to him, and you loved every second of it. He drew closer by the second, his lips were so close to yours that you could feel his breath against yours.
“You of course.” and with a simple nod of your head in consent, his lips were on yours. And you felt okay and safe.
~~~~
“This is our last time here isn’t it?” Lucy asked teary eyed.
“Yes. You have grown up, my dear one. Just like Peter and Susan.” Aslan had answered. They continued to talk but you just looked at Edmund. As they are saying goodbye you walk up to him wrapping him in your arms.
“You won’t forget me, right?” your voice cracks as your eyes start to water. Edmund brings his hand up to your cheek, the other holding your waist. His thumb wipes away a stray tear.
“Of course not.” his eyes hold the same fear yours does, because he cannot truly know the answer to your question. Kissing your forehead he takes a step back still holding onto your hand, until he is too far and your arm drops to your side. Caspian steps next to you holding you around the shoulder.
“Don’t worry, you’ll see him again one day.” He smiles down at you as if that can erase the ach in your heart.
As they walked through the water Lucy, Edmund, and Eustace were back in the attic, looking back at the picture on the wall. Edmund looked closer and it seemed as though there were people on the ship, waving. All he could think about was you, knowing he would try his absolute best to never forget you.
Based on the fact that Cair Paravel is situated right on the ocean, have some beach headcanons:
Susan is naturally an early riser and loves to go down to the beach at the crack of dawn to watch the sunrise.
She also loves to swim in the water. Though we know that the other three learn to swim while in Narnia, Susan is the one who really loves it. Sometimes she has races with the mermaid. Occasionally she wins. (She’s ~75% sure they let her win, but she doesn’t make an issue of it. She’s tactful like that.)
Edmund doesn’t particularly like sand. Just, on a sensory level, it kinda bothers him. His siblings like to walk around in the sand with his shoes off, but Edmund tends to wear a pair of sandals when he walks on the beach.
On the other hand, he loves to climb up on the rocks with a book and read by the water. It’s one of the most soothing activities he knows.
Peter and Lucy are both splashers. If you get anywhere near them in the water, they will splash you. They get into lots of splash fights with each other.
Lucy, at least in book canon, is blonde, and therefore I propose that she’s super prone to sunburn. She’s extremely salty about that fact, because she loves being out in the sun for long stretches of time and Narnia hasn’t invented sunscreen yet (and neither has England; it was invented during WW2). Susan tries to get her to wear a hat, sit in the shade, etc. Lucy usually ignores her. Narnians and foreign diplomats alike are well used to her showing up to banquets looking pink.
Lucy is good friends with several talking Gulls and other sea birds that she meets on the beach. They bring her news from along the coast and tell her stories of things they have seen flying over the sea.
When Peter is faced with a particularly difficult decision, he often finds himself pacing along the shoreline, looking out to sea and asking Aslan what he should do. He never receives a direct answer from the Lion when he does this, but often his mind is pulled towards a specific solution, or else someone comes down and finds him there and gives him council that he needs to hear, or else he remembers something that Aslan said to him at some point in the past and knows what he ought to do.
When Caspian becomes king, it takes a few years for Cair Paravel to be repaired enough to live in. When he visits to observe the progress, he always finishes by walking slowly along the length of the beach to acclimate himself to the sea and unlearn the vestiges of his cultural Telmarine fear of it.
After returning from his voyage to the end of the world, he can’t ever look at the sea again without feeling a twinge of fierce longing to go back and finish the last leg of the journey into Aslan’s country. It’s not that he regrets obeying Aslan and returning to Narnia, just that he quite never stops imagining what he might have seen if he’d continued.
The Star’s Daughter looks somehow different silhouetted against the ocean. One can almost imagine that she radiates a kind of light, reflected on the water. She feels different too: homesick and lonely, but in a warm and comfortable way. She likes best to go down and stand at the edge of the water and stare out to sea in a way that others, if they saw her, might find a little uncanny.
When Rilian returns to Cair Paravel after his rescue and his father’s death, he goes down to the beach when he wants to feel closer to his parents.
The last time Tirian stands on the beach outside Cair Paravel is just before he leaves for his hunting lodge. His bags are all packed he is simply waiting for Jewel to arrive, so he goes down to the beach to pass the time. He takes off his shoes to get his feet wet, and he has to get dried off and put them back on quickly when Jewel shows up. In the process, he leaves something sentimental there by accident (not sure what. Did a ring fall off? Did something fall out of one of his bags?). The forgotten object remains there on that beach outside the Cair even while the castle itself is destroyed and all her inhabitants are slaughtered, until the ending of the world. Tirian finds it again, or something like it but more beautiful, in the sand outside Cair Paravel Remade in Aslan’s Country.
Peter hearing about the Dawn Treader summer? Lucy/Edmund telling him? I don't know haha I just think it would be interesting
A/N: I don’t like leaving asks unanswered for very long, so it’s a little unpolished, but I hope you like it!
Forever a King of Narnia
“He’s only been back a week, Lu, and you’ve already asked him about his exams a bazillion times. If he knew how he’d done he wouldn’t’ve waited till the fiftieth time you asked to tell us.”
Peter laughed and lay back down on the grass. “Ed’s right. I’m not withholding some fascinating tidbit of information. They were exams and I hated it, what more were you expecting?”
From the corner of his eye he could see Lucy sticking her tongue out at him and Edmund. “Only trying to start conversation. What do you want to talk about then, geniuses?”
Peter bit his lip. He’d avoided the subject of Narnia since he’d returned, not so much out of bitterness as concern. He’d spent the whole summer with the Professor, and while they’d mostly discussed his schoolwork, the Professor had also retold him all the old stories of Narnia. He’d gotten to see the old wardrobe: though of course it no longer led to home, there was something soothing about being so close. But he hated to rub it in that he’d gotten such an opportunity when they’d been stuck with Eustace all summer. He’d thought that Ed or Lucy might bring it up on their own, but for some reason they seemed just as hesitant to broach the subject.
Lucy gave an exasperated huff. “...Does he still have the wardrobe?”
Peter glanced at her, surprised at the note of hesitance in her voice. “I- yes, of course. It barely fits in his office, but I don’t think he could bear to get rid of it.” He swallowed and added gently, “It doesn’t go anywhere now though, you know. I tried... I wonder what all our old friends are up to.”
Edmund and Lucy exchanged a strange look, and Peter frowned. “What?”
Edmund grinned. “Are you going to tell him or should I?”
Peter sat straight up, flushing red as his hair fell into his face. “WHAT?!”
Edmund pressed his lips together, badly trying to hide his smile. “Caspian said to say hello. And that Trumpkin talks about you all the time-” he deepened his voice in an imitation of the dwarf- “This would never have happened if the High King was here.” Both him and Lucy burst into giggles as Peter stared at them in disbelief.
“You got back?! But how? You’ve only been home a couple of weeks longer than me-”
“Not here,” Lucy interrupted. “At Eustace’s. He came with us by accident. He’s actually rather nice now, I think being a dragon did him a lot of good.”
Peter just stared at them, now roaring with laughter. “If you’re joking, tell me now. It isn’t funny.”
“We’re not joking. Why would we be joking about something like that?”
“You’re laughing, aren’t you? Eustace was a?-” He took a deep breath in, desperate hunger stirring in his chest. Narnia. Then he swung a mock punch at Edmund.
Edmund easily dodged it. “What-”
Peter hit him lightly on the chest with his other hand and grinned. “That’s for waiting a week to tell me, you little prat.” He reached over and flicked Lucy, who scrambled away, still laughing. “And that’s for asking me about exams when we could have been talking about Narnia!!”
Lucy looked as if she were barely keeping herself from exploding with excitement. “We didn’t know how to bring it up was all! We thought you’d’ve mentioned it sooner! Where should we start, anyways?”
His chest felt tight and he leaned forward, almost too eager to bear it. “How are Caspian and Trumpkin and all the others? What did you do? It must have been quite an adventure if it was able to improve Eustace. Go on, tell me every little detail. I want to know everything.”
Edmund and Lucy both began speaking at once, talking and laughing and adding details the other had forgotten, and Peter leaned forward, hanging on to each word as if it were a gem.  Aslan had told him to go back to his own world, he thought, with a small smile: well, he had, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t hang onto the scraps of home as they came.
I’ve been meaning to write this for a weeks and I finally did so yay. This is a somewhat analysis of the symbolism of the planning scene in Prince Caspian. I’m going off movie verse here because they changed so much I feel it’s not completely accurate to apply book details to the movie, although there are a few references that I feel could still be accurate in the movie verse.
To begin, let us lay our scene. They’re in the stone table room, the narnias are in a circle around the room, encompassing Peter, Caspain, and the stone table, which holds both Lucy and Trumpkin. Both Peter and Caspain stand a little bit away from the stone table. While Edmund and Susan are there, they’re both a part of the circle, sitting on stones directly across from each other.
First off, their placement tells us a lot about their relationships with Aslan. Since the Stone Table is where Aslan died, it in some way represents him. At the very least it's an ancient object of religious significance and holds some kind of power, if only in the figurative sense. We know that in the book the Narnias hold the table in high regard and this is something that isn’t specifically touched on in the movie and there's no reason to change it, since that would diminish the importance of Aslan in the narnias' eyes. So that explains why the narnias are gathered on the tables. The smaller animals have climbed on other stones, presumably to put themselves on a more even playing ground with the humans and other creatures. So, as the highest, easily accessible stone in the room, the Stone Table would be a good choice for giving yourself more height. But if they do hold the table in that high of a regard or place some religious significance on it, then it would be basically blasphemous for them to sit on it when it was the place that the Lion died and rose again.
Moving on to the Pevensies and those that are also in the circle.
We’re shown a few times that Peter is having issues with his faith with Aslan during this trip to Narnia. First at the train station when he expresses his frustration at Aslan making them wait, and again when they first get the how and go into the room, when he says something like “I think we’re on our own this time.” So while there are practical reasons for Peter not being extremely close to or on the Stone Table, his standing a couple yards away from it does a good job at representing his distance from Aslan at this point in the movie. Later, when he’s contemplating his relationship with Aslan and wishing that he would give him proof, he’s sitting on the Stone Table, which up until that point, he hadn’t been near, let alone on.
We don’t get much of Edmunds relationship with Aslan in this movie. He believes Lucy at the gorge, but that has to do more with his faith in Lucy than his faith that Aslan will be there. With this in mind, it would make more sense for him to be sitting next to Lucy during the meeting. She is after all the youngest and he already knows that the others are going to be patronizing to some degree if she should choose to give her opinion. So why isn’t he? Well it probably has to do with the fact that the reason Aslan died on that table was because of him, it was meant to be him on the table that night and Aslan took his place. It probably brings those memories closer to the surface and could potentially be triggering for him, since I think we can all agree that he had PTSD from his time with the witch. There's also potentially some awe for Aslan mixed in there, and respect, he might feel like it would be disrespectful to Aslan's sacrifice for him if he were to treat the place where he died like a chair.
We also don’t get much of Susan's relationship with Aslan in this movie. Like Peter, she wishes she could see him as easily as Lucy does, but she also only believes in him when he does something, like she tells Lucy when they’re sleeping by the fire, where Lucy's like “you believe me” and Susan says “well we got across the gorge didn’t we” or something like that. We also know that Susan's relationship with Narnia and Aslan is strained. She’s practical, she probably assumes that this trip to Narnia is probably going to end once they’ve fixed the problem, she’s not wrong of course, but I think that of the four of them she’s the only one who's thought about it at this point, since Peter and Edmund are probably focuses on how they’re going to defeat the telmarines and Lucy is living in the moment and enjoying being home again. So I think that Susan not sitting by Lucy on or near the table signifies that she’s distant from Aslan.
Lucy is obvious, she’s sitting on the table because it’s the closest thing she has to Aslan at that moment and she has the most faith in Aslan.
Trumpkin is interesting to me because we know from the gorge scene that he doesn’t believe Aslan exists because he says “I’m not about to jump off a cliff after someone who doesn’t exist.” But before that, when they’re in the boat and Lucy says “how could Aslan have let this happen,” Trumpkin responds with “though he abandoned us when you lot left,” he partly sounds scornful, like how could you believe in a talking lion, but at the same time I think it indicates that he, on some level, believes in Aslan, even if it’s only to hate him. But even if he doesn’t believe in Aslan, based on the fact that he isn’t sitting next to Lucy on the table itself, but on one legs, I think that that indicates that he does have some respect for the significance of the table itself, and while he might not fully believe in Aslan, but this might indicate that he’s slowly moving towards believing in him.
We’re going to ignore Caspian because there is no reason for him to be on the table so yeah.
So where the characters are in relation to the table symbolizes their relationship to Aslan. That's the first layer of symbolism in this scene. The second is how much this scene represents and sets up the dynamics between our main six characters (the Pevensies, Caspain, and Trumpkin).
Starting with Peter and Caspian. This scene builds upon the tension that’s sort of set up when they first met, they don’t like each other. Peter probably thinks of Caspain and an immature kid who doesn’t know what he’s doing and Caspain probably thinks Peter is trying to take his place as leader of the narnias. Caspians only experience with kings is Miraz and Miraz is not a good example, he took the power and then he got rid of or tried to get rid of everyone that would get in the way of his keeping the power. Caspain probably thinks that Peter will do the same, since he doesn’t know any better. So he fights back against Peter and his ideas, which clearly annoys Peter, a) because he’s the high king and he's actually getting into that role again, plus he’s been dealing with not being listen to in England for the past year and he’s in Narnia now, he’s supposed to be listened to here but apparently not, and b) Caspain is the one that summoned him for help, he should be listening to him.
Moving on to Peter and Edmund. This scene shows that Edmund is on Peter's side and has his back. This is shown before, when he jumps into the fight at the train station. But this scene backs it up and establishes Edmund as someone whose opinion Peter respects, because he doesn’t just echo what Peter says, he backs it up by using a logical reason for why they shouldn’t stay in defense mode, while Peter just pointed out that the How is a tomb not a fortress.
Peter and Susan. They’re fighting, and Susan is mad at Peter for some reason. This isn’t the first time this has come up in the movie, first it happened at the train station when Peter was going into a fight and then it happened again at the gorge when Peter appeared to take them out of the way. But this scene does indicate how serious it is, because she sides with Caspain over Peter and that is Not Good. Because they ruled together for 15 years, and they didn’t just rule together, they ruled together so well that the period when they ruled was known as the Golden Age. I’m not saying that they never disagreed on issues during that time, of course they did, but I doubt she ever did it in public and with someone she’d only known for less than a day. She shouldn’t trust Caspians opinion more than Peters, even if Caspain knows more about the current Narnia than Peter does, Peter definitely knows strategy better than Caspain, he definitely has more experience and Susan knows that.
Susan and Caspain. I can not express how much I hate the romance between Susan and Caspian in the movie, if you like it, that’s fine, it’s just really not my cup of tea and I think it’s a fairly useless addition to the story. That being said, this is the scene that establishes it. The movie makers use Susan taking Caspains side in this argument as a starting point for their later romance.
  Finally Trumpkin and Lucy. I personally believe that Trumpkin sitting next to Lucy at the table is meant to indicate their friendship and such, because why else would he be there and that's really all I have to say about that.
And this isn’t part of the actual analysis because there's literally nothing concrete to back it up, but I like the idea of Lucy being someone whose opinion Peter values. I thought of this because of two particular points in the movie. The first being when they walk into the How for the first time and Lucy is the only pevensie on Peters right side and you know, right hand person and such. The second is that Lucy is the only other Pevensie actually in the circle during this scene, both Edmund and Susan are part of the circle and the only other people in the circle-besides Trumpkin and I’m ignoring him here-are Peter and Caspain, the two main leaders. So yeah there's that, do with it what you will
Thank you for reading this, I’m sorry if it’s long and complicated and possibly confusing with many run-on sentences, I’m reading Jane Austen right now and I tend to semi copy the writing style of whoever I’m reading at the moment.
what are ur thoughts on edmund pevensie
aah I'm so glad someone asked!! thank uuu <3
My thoughts on Edmund Pevensie? Mr. redemption arc boy? My sassy bean? Sulky little shit boy? Oh my god where do I start.
(putting under the cut because this gets unnecessarily long and my mutuals are tired of me)
Edmund Pevensie is a horrible little gremlin who turns into a delightful little gremlin over the course of one book/movie and ends up being one of the best characters in the series. I don't know whether to rant about book!Edmund or Movie!Edmund, but I supposed I could do both?
So pre-redemption, Edmund is a generally awful person. I really like that. Whenever we get a redemption arc in modern media, it's usually 70% defending why Character A is actually a sad emo child who was neglected and actually you know what? It's everyone else's fault that this person does shitty things (i.e. k*lo ren, vanya hargreeves, mcu wanda, etc).
Edmund is a truly hateful person and canon DOES NOT APOLOGIZE OR VALIDATE IT. Even in the movies (where they make him more sympathetic by drawing attention to the fact that Edmund is a child being manipulated by an abuser) they recognize the fact that he was a nasty person before the White Witch ever came into play.
I LOVE that. I love a redemption arc. And the only way a redemption arc really, truly works is when the character being redeemed is a Bad Person. It makes it so, so much more satisfying when the character finally comes to their senses and Does The Thing that starts/completes their arc.
AND EDMUND'S IS TOP TIER. In the books, it's a bit less explicit, but by the time he finally reaches Aslan's camp and talks to Aslan, he's pretty much made a full 180. He is immediately forgiven by his siblings and the Narnians and when the White Witch turns up, he is unafraid. He has full confidence that Aslan knows what he's doing. In the Battle of Beruna, he's the only person smart enough to realize that going after the White Witch's wand is the best tactical move. There is no clear "heroes redeemed journey" (as i'm calling it). Edmund realizes that he was wrong, accepts Aslan, and helps defeat the White Witch.
The movie makes Edmund work a bit more. He's forgiven by his sisters', but not quite by his brother. It's vague whether or not the rest of Narnia has forgiven him. When the White Witch arrives, he shows visible fear. It's only after he breaks the White Witch's wand and dies/nearly dies doing so, that he's allowed to be fully redeemed and forgiven by his brother.
I have conflicting feelings about how both of these narratives are different and the indicators thereof of said differences, but that's a whole other meta post I don't have room for. What I can definitely say I do love about Movie!Edmund's redemption arc is how they conclude it. In the book, you don't actually see the moment where Edmund breaks the White Witch's wand and it's more inferred than directly stated that she's the one who wounded him. He also doesn't come as close to actual death in the books.
In the movie everything is absolutely fucking perfect. They start out the battle with Edmund looking unsure of anything except Peter and they end it with Edmund dying (?) in front of him. The moment where Edmund decides to defy Peter one last time and break the wand? 14 year old me was losing her SHIT. They literally could not have concluded his arc better. 10/10 Disney.
Prince Caspian--books and films--gives us a clearer picture of who Edmund is after his redemption arc. He's still kind of snarky, but 100% a ride or die for his siblings. He believes Lucy when she says she sees Aslan, supports Peter and Caspian in their quest to get Caspian on the throne, and is the most level-headed character in the book. He is also incredibly sulky in the books and 1000% done with Trumpkin's shit. It's delightful. They translate this in movieverse for him being 1000% done with Peter's shit which is even better. He does not really have an arc or plotline, but as a supportive character he's a 10/10.
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has my favorite Edmund. This is an Edmund without his older siblings. This is an Edmund who gets to bond with Lucy, Caspian, and Eustace and have wacky sea adventures. The Lucy/Edmund dynamic is STRONG and I am living for it. Both of them banding together to hate Eustace for half the book? 11/10. Both of them banding together to love Eustace for the other half of the book? 14/10.
Also, this is the book where we find out Edmund reads detective novels. Which is adorable and so in character for him.
Oh my god let's talk about Eustace and Edmund. After Eustace tells Edmund about what happened with him and Aslan and apologizes for being a dick? Edmund is immediately there to reassure him that all is forgiven, and actually? Edmund was a worse person his first visit to Narnia. (Pls get some self esteem Edmund.) Let's talk about Eustace and Edmund being protective over Lucy (who doesn't really appreciate it, but it's adorable just the same).
Movie!Edmund in this story is also a snarky delight, but the main thing that jumps out to me is HE AND CASPIAN ARE SO GAY FOR EACH OTHER HOLY SHIT. LIKE THEY TRIED TO PUSH LUCY/CASPIAN FOR A HOT SECOND AND THEN GAVE UP BECAUSE CASSMUND IS LIVING THEIR BEST GAY PIRATE LIFE.
Oh we should probably talk about Edmund in the Horse and His Boy. Yeah, this one is a real delight because we actually get to see grown up Edmund. There are so really awesome moments here, especially with him and Susan. My favorite is where he basically tells her, "yeah if you married that dick prince I would have totally hated you for it. thanks for making a good choice on that." Lmao. It's really interesting to see him more measured and mature in this book.
So anyway, to cut this rambling reply short. Edmund Pevensie has been my favorite character since I was 11 and first read the Narnia books and he continues to be in each adaption of the series. Can't wait for the Netflix adaption.
(ask me about book vs. movie meta, cassmund analysis, the problem of susan, or anything else narnia related for more ramblings <3)
Pairing: Pevensies + Caspian x neutral reader
Warning: smut
Gifs belong to their creators.
PEVENSIES + CASPIAN REACTING TO YOU TEASING THEM IN PUBLIC:
LUCY
Tumblr media
Lucy would be low key amused. She loves when you tease her and she can totally handle being provoked in public. You love playing with her so you take your chance during a dinner. You and the Pevensies are sitting around the table when you pretend that you dropped your fork to get closer to her ear. "This dress suits you, can't wait to slowly take it off from you." You whisper. She doesn't even flinch, she simply looks at you and smirk. "Oh, how mischievous of you." She teases you and you shrug, a lovely smile on your face. She looks at you in total devotion, biting her lips to let you know that you'll definitely remove that dress later.
EDMUND
Tumblr media
As we all know, Edmund is shy. He does love when you get in the mood, but he would panic a bit, in the good way of course. You're all getting ready for a ride, Peter and Susan are talking about political stuff and Lucy is too busy caressing her horse, so you decide to risk it all. You get on your horse and look at your boyfriend, his black hair messy because of the wind and his lips pressed. He looks at you and softly smiles. "Are you re--" he can't finish, because you interrupt him. "I certainly would want to ride something else." You say and wink, your eyes stuck into his. Edmund's cheek turn immediately pink, he chuckles and looks down while you laugh. He looks back at you with a soft but amused little smile on his face. "You're impossible, but I love you." He says and licks his lips, letting you understand that you definitely manged to provoke him.
SUSAN
Tumblr media
Susan would love playing like this with you. She is a tease herself, so she can handle stuff like that. You two are attending a sudden meeting that Peter organised to discuss the situation of the new alliances and you're sitting between Susan and Edmund when he stands up to start talking too. You look at your girlfriend and caress her arm. "I am so bored." You whispers and she chuckles. "I'm too, baby, but this is necessary." She says and you nod. "Promise me we'll do something a bit more..." you hesitate, your finger tracing the back of her hand now. "Fun. Later, of course." You conclude and smile at her. She shakes her head with a smirk, her eyes stuck into yours. "Well, you have no idea what you got yourself into." She provokes you back and raises an eyebrow. You smile in amusement.
PETER
Tumblr media
Peter loves when you tease him, it drives him crazy. You perfectly know that, so you take advantage of it from times to times. Susan comes to warn you that he's hurt again, that he has been stabbed during an ambush and you obviously run to him. "I'm spending my whole life in this infirmary." He complains and you shake your head while caressing his cheek. "If only you weren't that reckless..." you whisper and he smiles, realizing you're finally there. "Babe, I'm okay and God, you look beautiful." He reassures you and shows you the wound under his pectoral, you look at it and barely touch it: it seems not too bad. You softly exhale, noticing Edmund and Lucy standing right there, so you bite your lower lip. Peter notices that you look nervous. "What's wrong, my love?" He asks and you look at him, your eyes scanning his bare chest. "It's just..." you get closer to him, you lips next to his ear. "Put a shirt on, unless untill we will be alone." You whisper, an amuse dsmile on your face. He tilts his head and smirks at you, his hand grabbing yours. "Someone is in the mood, uhm?" He teases you and you shake your head. "Shut up, Your Majesty." You say and press a quick kiss on his lips.
BONUS + CASPIAN
Tumblr media
Caspian would internally freak out but he knows how to keep it cool. He isn't actually a tease but he loves when you provoke him. You're going for a walk on the beach with him and the Pevensies, and he's looking handsome as ever. Lucy is telling you about the organisation of the next ball when you notice he extracts his swordz ready to train with Edmund. You and Lucy look at them. "Can I train with you?" You ask and take your sword as well, Caspian looks at you with a smile. "I'll go easy on you, my love." He jokes, perfectly aware that you are utterly skilled. You shake your head and walk to him, pretending to give him a quick kiss just to whisper into his ear. "Go easy now and save your strength, so you can go hard later," You say and wink, immediately stepping back and positioning your feet. He is shocked: his face a mix between excitement and surprise. You smile and raise your sword. "Are you ready, Your Highness?" You ask and he nods, a smirk on his face and his eyes filled with desire. "I am, my love." He says, his voice low and firm and his tongue licking his lower lip while he stares at you.
