Hey everyone!

For those that don't know me, my name's Lou (she/her) and I have recently gotten back into revamping the numerous fic projects I had in my vaults and trying to get back into my writing again.

I have put out this post to say that if anyone is also in a similar situation with their own fics, I am offering my fellow fic writers to beta & alpha read fics in exchange for coming on as an alpha or beta reader for my own projects.

As a beta & alpha reader, I am willing to not only check for grammar, punctuation, spelling and formatting but also:

identify weaknesses in the plot.

identify pieces in the story where engagement was high or lacking.

identify points in the story where clarity is needed.

help develop characters (both oc & canon)

canon check pieces of information (for canonverse/compliant fics)

As a writer, I am looking for someone to help with:

identifying inconsistent tense.

identifying where engagement was high or lacking.

identifying points in the story where clarity is needed.

writing relationship development (platonic/romantic)

editing plot structure and fluidity.

writing descriptive settings.

identifying monotone or repetitive parts of the story.

Most importantly, I am looking for people who can approach my story as both a reader passionate about the fic and a writer/editor passionate about helping improve the story.

My projects are also multi-chapter (150,000) and usually part of a wider series (minimum of 3 parts) ; therefore, I am open to working on fic projects that are of equal length!

Character bashing (I do read fics that bash, but I find it hard to beta for them only because I like to discuss characters objectively - but there are exceptions, so feel free to check)

Anything that attempts to glorify or justify racism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, xenophobia, ableism, sexism, bigotry, abuse, r*pe or anything even remotely similar.

(feel free to check with me tho, I am open to discussion of everything except the bottom dot point)

Because I believe beta reading to be an experience that should be enjoyable and insightful for both the reader and writer, I am open to :

What can you share about the Seda series?

Note: I would like to apologize in advance for how long it took to answer this most gracious ask. Procrastination is my sin, I'm afraid. I hope this rather lackluster answer with satisfy your curiosities, and in the mean time, be reassured that I am seeking my inspirations in such places as your own work, admiring your masterpiece creations and OCs and wishing I could ever write a story half as engaging as yours.

The Seda Series: What Do We Know So Far?

The Seda Series will predominately take place in the Clone Wars Era.

There will be four instalments during the Clone Wars Era (for each year of the war)

However, I do plan to eventually take it further, with Serina navigating her status as a fugitive during the Age of the Empire where we will meet more OCs, old friends and some well-known faces.

During this time, she will also take an apprentice of sorts, a baby padawan that she saved from the massacre at the Jedi Temple.

Some Arcs that will be explored further is the Umbara arc, The Anti-War movement in the Senate headed by Padme Amidala and Bail Organa with a surprising newcomer Riyo Chuchi, Corruption on Mandalore, Fives and his investigation of Order 66 and the Separatist side of the war etc.

A few major events will be changed mostly involving the Order 66, some very important Senate bills, Duchess Satine and Onderon/Bonteri's plotline.

Rivin Nox will not appear until the end of the second instalment.

Rivin and Serina's relationship will be an actual slow-burn enemies to lovers. Meaning that there will be ENEMIES/RELUCTANT ALLIES for a majority of the third instalment. The lovers stage won't happen until the four instalment.

Now, if only I can actually get around to writing it, that would be most helpful 😅

How do the stories of your Stranger Things OCs vary from canon?

Thank you for this lovely ask @lilac-lemonade ! I'm sure we are all reeling from Stranger Things 4 and looking forward to theorizing what we will expect from the final season! You'll have to let me know what you thought of ST4 when you get the chance!

Stephanie Harrington & Michelle Hargrove in The Babysitter's Club

I've introduced the basic premise of my OCs in another post and I will attempt to expand from here! Forgive me if it sounds repetitive!

Stephanie Harrington, the younger sister of Steve Harrington, is the first OC to make an appearance in the series The Babysitter's Club. She finds herself heavily involved in the events of Season 1 when she is pulled into the Upside Down alongside Barb Holland during the little get-together at her house. So, not only does Barb go missing but so does Steve's sister, so of course, he's going to be freaking out, knowing that if their parents find out that their precious baby girl is missing, he's going to get a whole lot worse than his car taken from him. So, he's on edge, he's trying to keep Nancy protected because as far as he knows, there's some sicko stealing little kids (Will Byers) and possibly having kidnapped his sister and Barb. So, in the first instalment, instead of Steve being the blase King Steve, he's going to take more of a stance similar to Jason Carver in Season 4, leading the basketball team on search parties in the woods where he more often than not runs into Nancy and Johnathan.

Spoiler alert for the first instalment: will expand upon the Upside Down and Steph, Will and Barb's time in the alternate dimension, Barbara Holland LIVES and Steve will be basically the original Jason Carver (rest assured he still gets his redemption arc).

Michelle Hargrove, the twin sister of Billy Hargrove, is the second OC introduced in the series The Babysitter's Club. After her family makes the hasty move from California to buttfuck Indianna, Shell, Billy and Max make their debut in the small town of Hawkins and quickly establish themselves as quite the tempermental rebels, all in their own little way. Billy and Shell certainly make an impression on the Harrington siblings, who have recently fallen from Hawkin's High social heirarchy after their vague involvement with Will Byer's return from the dead. The Hargrove twins seem to make it their mission to antagonize their counterparts in a desperate attempt to find out what happened to make the royals lose their crowns. While Billy is careful not to draw the suspicions of their father, Shelly doesn't have the same inclination and finds herself dragged into making Molotov cocktails with Stephanie during lunch breaks and following her into the woods with Barbara Holland of all people.

Spoiler alert for the second installment: Billy Hargrove will find out about the Upside Down, sideplot with Steph, Shelly and Barb doing some sleuthing, Barb's aftermath after escaping the Upside Down, Steve Harrington's redemption arc!

In the third installment, the Babysitter's Club diverges heavily from canon between the fall of 1984 and the summer of 1985. It is in the third installment that we see where the series gets its name ( a nod to my all-time favorite film the Breakfast Club) when a weekend detention forces Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, Billy Hargrove, Johnathan Byers, Robin Buckley, Eddie Munson, Barbara Holland, Chrissy Cunningham, Heather Holloway, Patrick McKinney, Stephanie Harrington and Michelle Hargrove all in one room for eight hours where crack shenangins, angst, Upside Down secrets, and romance occurs.

Spoiler alert for the third installment: Robin Buckley, Eddie Munson, Chrissy Cunningham, Heather Holloway and Patrick McKinney kind of find out about the Upside Down before canon, they all some how become part of the Party, fic ships get together, Hawkins lab sideplot is explored more.

The fourth installment takes place in the summer of 1985 and follows the events of Season 3. A lot of the canon events still happen but because more characters know about what's going on, there's a lot more people involved. There is even some expansion in the Upside Down lore such as the mirror people or the Flayed are not actually the people they look like. Rather they are shadow copies will tethers to the real people who are trapped in the Upside Down while their Flayed! versions are out in the real world. The real people are aware of everything their Flayed! versions are doing, but they are trapped. If their Flayed! version dies in the real world, the real people awaken in the Upside Down.

Lauren Dolian & Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have

[inspired by Emma Roberts portrayal of Poppy Moore in "Wild Child"]

Laurie is a Rosewood native, born and bred. Her father is a successful defence lawyer at Hastings & Hastings and her mother is real estate agent working under the DiLaurentis', two of Rosewood's most prominent, wealthy families.

She met Alison DiLaurentis on the first day of elementary. The teacher called Laurie by another girl's name the entire day and she didn't catch on until she noticed Alison giggling to herself in the corner, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Since then, they have been attatched to the hip, growing up together and basically becoming part of each other's families.

While Alison became one of the most popular girls in Rosewood because of her wealth, charisma and beauty, Laurie became known as something of a wild child, an all-around party girl who was not afraid of making friends in all the wrong places. She doesn't have the same cruel streak but the truth can hurt almost as much as a good lie.

And with just one party gone wrong, everything changes.

After Alison's disappearance, Laurie is sent to a boarding school in New York City. On a downward spiral to hell, Laurie does everything in the book until her rock bottom ends up in a hit and run. Lucky for her, Daddy Dearest is there to bail her out.

Deeply shaken, Laurie goes on a road of recovery and returns to Rosewood just before the start of her junior year. The one year anniversary of her best friend's disappearance threatens to undo all of her progress and with the appearance of a few old faces and the beginning of threatening text messages, Laurie is forced to play the game of liars again and boy, is she bad at it.

Just like that, it was like Alison never left.

I am proud to say that I found a job. Just a casual one, but it was better than being locked in my house stuck with my thoughts.

I have finished uni for the year, just handed in my last assingment for the term a few hours ago. I had only started it from scratch today, but the power of anxiety and spotify playlist does wonders on poor procrastinating me.

I have seen clips (not the entire episode yet unfortunately) of the latest episode of House of Dragons and I am reluctant to admit that I have another OC in my Onenotes. Guilty, I know, considering I have a Game of Thrones fic on hiatus that my lovely readers are constantly telling me to continue.

I have been making pinterest boards for my original characters for a story I created when I was only a small child called the Infernal Heirs, so if you would like to drop any asks about them, I'm happy to answer any questions.

I am also on the look out for new beta readers for my Narnia fic, so if you know anyone who is interested, please let me know!

Author of the Folk of Air series, featuring:

The bullprint to what I actually consider an accomplished enemies to lovers series.

An intriguing plot that doesn't full revolve around the romantic relationship of the leads but rather the protagonist, Jude Duarte's navigation of the political playground in Elfhame.

Interesting worldbuilding that doesn't overwhelm but makes it maintains the otherworldly feel of being in Faerieland.

I've seen a lot of complaints by people who were recommended the book for the enemies to lovers aspect and were disappointed when the first book was literally establishing the enemies part and that's one of the reasons why I think Holly Black did an actual good job of writing enemies to lovers because of that very reaction.

Just like with every relationship I like to read or write, I believe that there needs to be strong foundation of an emotion or connection that is not inherently romantic and I think that people have gotten used to reading enemies to lovers where the enemies part was so heavily influenced by secret lust, love, unrequited feelings, ulterior motives that redeem the enemies that it may as well just be a book about how they started being emotionally kinky with each other before they got into an offical relationship.

As demonstrated by Black, Jude hates and envies everything that Carden represents that she believes she lacks; he's beautiful, he's cruel and he has the power to get away with it. Carden hates everything Jude represents because its everything he lacks; she's defiant, she's strong in the face of adversity and she's brave. And because of these projected feelings, they immediately do whatever they can to put the other in their place.

Even when Carden "lusts" over Jude, he hates it vehemently. And even when Jude admits that she feels something other than hate for him, her actions a lot of the time are not lovey-dovey and are on the direct opposite end of the spectrum, keeping us second guessing on how they feel for each other versus how they actually act towards one another.

EMCONNNNN!!!!! i gotta ask, dude . . . . . . HOW THE HECK DO YOU MAKE THOSE BOMB ASS TRAILERS?!?!?!? i've been meaning to make some for Zero to Hero once i finish revisions but i quite honestly wouldn't even know where to start 😂

Thank you for all your comments, they made me so so happy. I spent a long time working on this trailer so I’m glad people are enjoying it.

I’ve been making trailer type things since middle school, but my process is always the same:

1) Pick the music. This usually informs the tone, format, and length of the trailer, and I always consider it the foundation that my trailer is built on. I tend to get a lot of trailer-type songs recommended to me on my Spotify, but I’m always down to give recommendations too.

2) Storyboard! I usually write out the exact kind of clips I’m looking for before I start putting the trailer together. So I knew for this one I wanted a few specific Agents of SHIELD clips, one of Willow running for the music swell around 2 min in, and lots of clips of friends/partying/that sort of thing. I also will write in where I want “b roll,” which is where I don’t care the kind of clip that’s in there, as long as it fits the tone in that spot.

3) Collect all your clips! Again, I usually make a list of the shows/content I’m looking for so I can find it all at once. I first go through the IMDB of the face claims I’m using for the story and pull trailers/clips from every project they’ve been involved in, where their look fits the look I’m going for. I also have a bit of an encyclopedic knowledge of TV shows and movies, so I’ll pull “b roll” from trailers and clips from other projects that don’t involve the actors. For example, some of the clips in the below trailer come from Mr. Robot, because I knew the tone of that show and the clips they used in marketing were what I was looking for. Sometimes I’ll just watch trailers of other media that fits the tone of my story and pull b roll as I see fit.

4) Assemble your trailer! I use Hit Film, which works well for this. As you put your trailer together, follow your storyboard and then fill in the gaps from there with b roll. I then usually save and export and watch the trailer a few days later to see how it flows with fresh eyes and if there are any changes I want to make.

And that’s the process!! Also, I would LOVE to make a Zero to Hero trailer for you if you have any ideas for what you’re envisioning for that.
