anitv Jake did WHAT
OP refers to these tags #4d chess psychological warfare#like that time in anitv jake acquires tom and successfully talks a bunch of controllers into shooting the real tom
The episode "Face/Off Pt. 3" is a classic combination of AniTV having some plot ideas with fascinating potential... and then executing those ideas so badly the show is nigh-unwatchable.
Various Animorphs are running around the yeerk pool, (Rachel is in Tobias's brain as a yeerk to defeat the Gleet Biofilter, speaking of cool ideas that got wasted) in the season finale. Jake drags Tom into a back room, and when the controllers break down the door, there are two identical copies of Tom standing there. It's kinda cool that the audience also doesn't know which one's Tom and which is Jake, because both of them immediately start shouting about how the other one is an imposter and the controllers should shoot that guy.
For the rest of the episode — which switches to focus on how Marco collapses the entire yeerk pool cavern by pulling down a single ceiling tile and throwing it against a pillar (go figure) — there are two copies of Tom running around. There's some dramatic tension when we see one of the Toms get crushed to death by falling rubble and don't know if Jake just died, as well as in a later scene where one of the Toms walks in on Cassie mid-morph. That Tom demorphs into Jake, has the honestly kinda funny line "Phew! My parents were about thirty seconds away from having a set of identical twins." Original flavor Tom is dead in the basement, but that's fine, because the Animorphs are off to a dance party. Also, Tom's back two episodes later with no explanation because Melissa Chapman needs a boyfriend. Sigh. So much potential, so badly wasted.

aw you’re so sweet! congrats on 100 💐 may i request from the tracy chapman list 17 and/or 18 for carmy? xx
tysm for the flowers love! fyi, this is going to be angsty sry
18. “you think she’s good; i’ll be better” — love’s proof
-
carmen’s piercing blue eyes widened the moment those wretched words leaked off of your tongue. you laid on his chest, both your naked bodies tangled within each other as you stared aimlessly out of the window.
you’d understood that carmy’s heart would never find itself in your grasp and you weren’t an idiot, you knew where his heart laid and it was with sydney. i mean, fuck, you couldn’t even find it in you to lash out at him, to cry and scream wondering why it couldn’t be you. sydney was a beautiful and bright soul, she saw carmen through eyes that you envied, she was able to see his innermost thoughts and could translate him with a fluid ease.
“wh-what are you saying?” he asked, his eyes trained on the ceiling of his bedroom as you let out a breath, accepting reality.
you would move on and be okay, you knew this. yet, the bubbling ache in your stomach and threatening tears burned - you needed to keep it together.
“i’m not her, carmen and i’d be so fucking selfish to act otherwise,” you spoke, maintaining your gaze out of the window, your voice stoic, “i would be a fool to let whatever this is continue, when your heart, your mind is with her.”
carmen remained silent, your brutal words leaving him dumbfounded, and somewhat exposed?
“we can lay here for one more night, but i’ll be gone in the morning, and i want you to do what’s right, it’ll make it easier for me,” you decided, a few tears rolling down your cheek and onto the pale skin of carmen’s chest.
so you both laid together for one more night, you made good on your promise, leaving his apartment at the crack of dawn. you’d just hoped that he’d make good on his unspoken one.
