Assistant to Le Corbusier from 1928, Perriand had a profound influence on the Modernist master, in particular her focus on the interior and furnishings, which Le Corbusier tended to dismiss on account of his belief in the superiority of the exterior. She is also credited, by Josep Lluis Sert (Dean of Harvard Graduate School of Design in the 1950s), for reinstating Le Corbusier's interest in the vernacular and materials of humble and peasant origins.
