How to Select the Best Video Conferencing System for your Business
For years, video conferencing has been gaining popularity as a context-rich and dynamic medium of communication. However, the actual potential of video conferencing systems was realized by most businesses for the first time during the 2020 pandemic. If we talk of present times, audio and video conferencing software are the most widely used software, especially by remote workers for building relationships with coworkers and peers to maintain productivity. Indeed, it has been observed that nowadays almost 55 percent of businesses regularly permit employees to work from home. This has increased the need to connect even greater than it has ever. This has urged businesses to look for the most convenient video conferencing system to engage with their workers and keep operations running seamlessly. However, when looking for video conferencing software, it's crucial to know what to look for otherwise you may risk employing software that is inappropriate for your company's needs.
To help you with this, we have outlined some of the factors that you should consider before selecting the video conferencing system best for your business. Let's get going.
Factors to Consider while selecting the best Video Conferencing System
We've compiled a list of considerations to keep in mind while selecting the best video conferencing services to meet your unique company requirements. Let's examine each in detail.
Seamless Integration: For most businesses, conferencing is a component of a larger communication and collaboration strategy. This means that video conferencing technologies must integrate seamlessly with other services that users frequently use. This may entail integrating with chat tools, presentation tools like digital whiteboards, file and screen sharing services, etc. Therefore, before selecting the right option, you must check for this.
Control Over Access: In 2020, when we started using video conferencing more frequently, we realized how crucial it is to keep these meetings safe. Investments in video conferencing today should prioritize data management, security, and privacy. With everything from breakout rooms and waiting areas to passwords and restrictions, any top-notch video conferencing company will provide you with complete control over who may attend your conferences. You must check this before selecting one.
Enable Recording: Video meetings are quickly taking center stage in daily team conversations. Therefore, it is important that the data shared in these sessions must be available to the entire team. Therefore, choose a video conferencing system that can securely capture content in accordance with compliance requirements and allow you to share it with colleagues or auditors in a secure manner.
Artificial Intelligence Enabled: AI can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of video conferences. For participants in a video conference, an AI system can automatically convert audio to text, bridging the communication gap between coworkers who have hearing impairments or speak different languages. AI assistants in video conferencing applications can also instantly bring up material from a presentation and make it simpler to locate important information.
HD Quality Visuals: We are now able to share more colorful, high-definition content online thanks to the development of high-quality video cameras and strong connections made possible by 5G. Access to a variety of presentation and conversational choices, including HD and 4K video, amazing virtual backgrounds, dynamic presenting tools, and more, can be found on the best video conferencing platforms.
User-friendliness: For your investment in video conferencing technology to pay off, employees must feel comfortable using it. Adoption ought to be simple and practical. Choose a solution that's packed with fantastic features and simple to implement. It can be simpler to act on a platform with lots of online support, tutorials, and documentation.
Selecting the right solution for your business may seem challenging but considering these points would help you in this. You can also go for the Cisco video conferencing solution that is equipped with lots of features.

Why Video Conferencing is a Must-Have for Hybrid Work
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we work, and hybrid work has become the new norm. As companies adapt to this new way of working, video conferencing has become an essential tool for communication and collaboration. Here are some reasons why video conferencing is a must-have for hybrid work.
1. Facilitates Communication and Collaboration
Video conferencing allows remote workers to communicate and collaborate seamlessly, just as if they were in the same room. It helps team members to stay connected, share ideas, and work together on projects. With video conferencing, you can have face-to-face conversations with colleagues, which can help build better relationships and increase productivity.
2. Saves Time and Money
One of the biggest advantages of video conferencing is that it saves time and money. Instead of traveling to attend meetings or conferences, participants can join from anywhere in the world. This can help reduce travel costs and save time that would otherwise be spent commuting. With video conferencing, you can have more meetings in a day, which can increase productivity and efficiency.
3. Increases Flexibility
Video conferencing increases flexibility for both employers and employees. Employers can hire talent from anywhere in the world and provide them with the flexibility to work remotely. Employees can work from home or any location they choose, which can help improve work-life balance. With video conferencing, you can have a virtual meeting at any time, which can help accommodate different time zones and schedules.
4. Improves Accessibility
Video conferencing improves accessibility for people with disabilities. It allows them to participate in meetings and conferences without having to travel, which can be difficult for people with mobility issues. Video conferencing facility in chennai also allows participants to share documents and other materials, making it easier for people with visual or hearing impairments to follow along.
5. Enhances Productivity
Video conferencing enhances productivity by allowing team members to communicate and collaborate in real-time. It helps to avoid delays caused by emails or phone calls, and allows for faster decision-making. With video conferencing, participants can share screens, take notes, and collaborate on documents in real-time, which can help increase productivity.
In conclusion, video conferencing is a must-have for hybrid work. It facilitates communication and collaboration, saves time and money, increases flexibility, improves accessibility, and enhances productivity. As hybrid work becomes more common, companies that adopt video conferencing will have a competitive advantage over those that do not.

The Artemis I Mission: To the Moon and Back
The Artemis I mission was the first integrated test of the Orion spacecraft, the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and Exploration Ground Systems at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We’ll use these deep space exploration systems on future Artemis missions to send astronauts to the Moon and prepare for our next giant leap: sending the first humans to Mars.
Take a visual journey through the mission, starting from launch, to lunar orbit, to splashdown.
Liftoff
Tumblr media
The SLS rocket carrying the Orion spacecraft launched on Nov. 16, 2022, from Launch Complex 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The world’s most powerful rocket performed with precision, meeting or exceeding all expectations during its debut launch on Artemis I.
"This is Your Moment"
Tumblr media
Following the successful launch of Artemis I, Launch Director Charlie Blackwell-Thompson congratulates the launch team.
“The harder the climb, the better the view,” she said. “We showed the space coast tonight what a beautiful view it is.”
That's Us
Tumblr media
On Orion’s first day of flight, a camera on the tip of one of Orion’s solar arrays captured this image of Earth.
Inside Orion
Tumblr media
On the third day of the mission, Artemis I engineers activated the Callisto payload, a technology demonstration developed by Lockheed Martin, Amazon, and Cisco that tested a digital voice assistant and video conferencing capabilities in a deep space environment. In the image, Commander Moonikin Campos occupies the commander’s seat inside the spacecraft. The Moonikin is wearing an Orion Crew Survival System suit, the same spacesuit that Artemis astronauts will use during launch, entry, and other dynamic phases of their missions. Campos is also equipped with sensors that recorded acceleration and vibration data throughout the mission that will help NASA protect astronauts during Artemis II. The Moonikin was one of three “passengers” that flew aboard Orion. Two female-bodied model human torsos, called phantoms, were aboard. Zohar and Helga, named by the Israel Space Agency (ISA) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) respectively, supported the Matroshka AstroRad Radiation Experiment (MARE), an experiment to provide data on radiation levels during lunar missions. Snoopy, wearing a mock orange spacesuit, also can be seen floating in the background. The character served as the zero-gravity indicator during the mission, providing a visual signifier that Orion is in space.
Far Side of the Moon
Tumblr media
A portion of the far side of the Moon looms large in this image taken by a camera on the tip of one of Orion’s solar arrays on the sixth day of the mission.
First Close Approach
Tumblr media
The Orion spacecraft captured some of the closest photos of the Moon from a spacecraft built for humans since the Apollo era — about 80 miles (128 km) above the lunar surface. This photo was taken using Orion’s optical navigational system, which captures black-and-white images of the Earth and Moon in different phases and distances.
Distant Retrograde Orbit
Tumblr media
Orion entered a distant retrograde orbit around the Moon almost two weeks into the mission. The orbit is “distant” in the sense that it’s at a high altitude approximately 50,000 miles (80,467 km) from the surface of the Moon. Orion broke the record for farthest distance of a spacecraft designed to carry humans to deep space and safely return them to Earth, reaching a maximum distance of 268,563 miles (432,210 km).
Second Close Approach
Tumblr media
On the 20th day of the mission, the spacecraft made its second and final close approach to the Moon flying 79.2 miles (127.5 km) above the lunar surface to harness the Moon’s gravity and accelerate for the journey back to Earth.
Cameras mounted on the crew module of the Orion spacecraft captured these views of the Moon’s surface before its return powered flyby burn.
Heading Home
Tumblr media
After passing behind the far side of the Moon on Flight Day 20, Orion powered a flyby burn that lasted approximately 3 minutes and 27 seconds to head home. Shortly after the burn was complete, the Orion spacecraft captured these views of the Moon and Earth, which appears as a distant crescent.
Parachutes Deployed
Tumblr media
Prior to entering the Earth’s atmosphere, Orion’s crew module separated from its service module, which is the propulsive powerhouse provided by ESA (European Space Agency). During re-entry, Orion endured temperatures about half as hot as the surface of the Sun at about 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2,760 degrees Celsius). Within about 20 minutes, Orion slowed from nearly 25,000 mph (40,236 kph) to about 20 mph (32 kph) for its parachute-assisted splashdown.
Splashdown
Tumblr media
On Dec. 11, the Orion spacecraft splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California after traveling 1.4 million miles (2.3 million km) over a total of 25.5 days in space. Teams are in the process of returning Orion to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Once at Kennedy, teams will open the hatch and unload several payloads, including Commander Moonikin Campos, the space biology experiments, Snoopy, and the official flight kit. Next, the capsule and its heat shield will undergo testing and analysis over the course of several months.

All you need to know about Audio and Video Conferencing
Audio and video conferencing is a technology that allows people to communicate in real-time. It is a great way for people to communicate over long distances or if they are unable to meet in person. The first audio and video conferencing systems were developed in the 1960s, but they were not widely used until the 1990s.
In the past, audio and video conferencing required expensive equipment and was only available on a limited basis. Today, it can be accessed through an internet connection on computers or mobile devices. Audio and video conferencing are now being used in a variety of different fields, from business to education. Indeed, since COVID hit the world, many companies have started using audio and video conferencing to meet with clients or other employees that work remotely. This type of communication is much more convenient than traditional methods like emailing or phone calls because it can be done at any time and from any location. The cost of the software is also significantly lower than traditional methods, which makes it an attractive option for those on a budget.
In this blog, we are going to discuss audio and video conferencing separately, bringing out the benefits of each of them.
What is Audio Conferencing?
Audio conferencing is a form of communication that uses an audio-only connection. The two parties involved in the conversation can speak to one another as if they were in the same room. Audio conferencing is typically used for business meetings and conferences, but it can also be used for personal purposes to communicate with family and friends. The most common types of audio conferencing are webinars, telephones, and VoIP.
Benefits of using audio conferencing:
Various benefits that are associated with the usage of an audio-conferencing system are:

When to choose audio conferencing?
If you are confused about when to use audio conferencing system, simply ask the following questions to yourself.
Do I need visuals?
If the answer is No, then why spend extra money on video conferencing? Simply go for audio conferencing.
Do participants have the necessary setup for the video calls?
If you want to communicate with people and do not know whether other participants are fully equipped for video calls, then audio conferencing is a better option.
What is Video Conferencing?
Video conferencing is the use of video communication technology to bring people together for a live, face-to-face conversation. In the past, video conferencing services were only available in large conference rooms or through expensive equipment. Nowadays, there are many options for video conferencing from your laptop or smartphone.
Video conferencing can be used for many purposes, such as:
●        Business meetings
●        Support groups and therapy sessions
●        Educational seminars or lectures

Good to see the Germany military is using unsecured consumer-grade video conferencing software to discuss high-level operations.
Plus I have to assume that Cisco's Webex is probably innately capable of better security than it looks like was being used here, considering it is enterprise video conferencing sofware. Did anyone call and ask them? Probably should have done that.
"NO THE RUSSIANS JUST HACKED IT!"
Yes. And "hacking" means you get into systems where you're not wanted. And you routinely do that by waiting for some moron to use "1234" as a password, or stick a USB they found at a cafe, that you loaded with key-loggers, into their military work laptop.
Real life hacking is like 80% waiting for people to do something stupid that you can take advantage of. Moscow has a whole military unit of hackers, and most of what they do all day is sending foreign government officials spam emails with links they mindlessly click. They aren't cracking Engima machines most of the time.

7 best practices for conferencing
Video Conferencing is an important part of today's business communication, allowing teams to collaborate and stay connected even in different locations. But conference calls can also be a source of frustration and confusion. To keep your conference call running smoothly and efficiently, here are 7 guidelines you should follow:
Conference call starts on time:
It's important to respect everyone's time, so start the conversation at the agreed time. If you've arranged a call, send a reminder a few minutes early, so everyone knows to log in.
Create the conference agenda:
Before the call, draw up an agenda and distribute it to all participants. That will help everyone stay on track and know what to expect from the call.
Introduce all conference participants:
At the beginning of the call, take a few minutes to introduce everyone. That will help everyone meet face-to-face and make the conversation more personal and interesting.
Use visual aids during the conference call:
If you have slides or other visual aids, share them during the conversation. That will help everyone stay focused and engaged and make the information easier to understand. In addition, many conferencing operators offer screen sharing, document sharing, and white boarding on their online portals, or you can email slides or PDFs before your call.
Speak clearly during a conference call:
Make sure you speak clearly and at the same pace when speaking. That will help everyone understand what you are talking about and prevent misunderstandings.
Allow questions and discussions on your conference calls:
Encourage participation during the call by allowing time for questions and discussion. That will help everyone stay engaged and ensure that important moments are not missed.
Make sure your conference calls end on time:
As important as starting a conversation on time, it is just as important to end it on time. So if you have an agreed end time, complete the call at that time.
Following these 7 tips, you can make your conference calls productive, efficient, and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Look as someone who has family in IT. You do gotta be really persistent depending on the issue. If it's just a you issue, you gotta chase em down in a parking lot with proof you've talked to them with no fix before. If it affects more folks/higher up folks, there's already a fire under their ass.
Yeah I'm gonna be really annoying from here on out. I've had issues since last September with no fixes. I think there's like 2 reasons why (beyond just laziness):
1. This is an office with many older employees. I walked into a meeting today and my new manager went "yay, tech support is here!" and asked me to connect the hybrid meeting. This is just typing in the video conferencing ID for the meeting into the Cisco device.
So, I'm sure 95% of what our IT department deals with is people who barely know how to turn their computer off and on. There's probably a lot of simple fixes. I feel like they treat me with the same level of expected incompetence and do not do any more in-depth fixes. Like no dude, I already tried the simple suff. You restarting my computer 3 times will not prevent the issue from happening again. Please acknowledge that I'm telling you this requires extra attention.
2. While this does negatively affect my work, I still perform my work. Being able to connect to the VPN only 20% of the time just means I have to do my tasks in 20% of the time. It isn't so bad that I cannot perform work at all. So what if the computer constantly restarts and I lose work? Well, Microsoft has built in recovery features for unsaved work. Problem solved!
Like, I think if the issue completely stalled my work it would be fixed. But since it only causes me hours of frustration and delays instead, but I am still able to work, it gets pushed off.
also like bro???? they do NOT seem to understand it is an ongoing intermittent issue despite me telling that to them 4 times. they'll be like well your card works now! OK great thanks but will it work tomorrow? No. you did not identify the underlying issue.
I think this also makes it hard to establish an ongoing problem because it'll be assigned to a new IT guy, they'll mess around, and then decide it's fixed and resolve the issue. But it isn't fixed, it just didn't repeat for the rest of the day. They seem to assume that if the computer is working NOW that it will keep working. That is not true. It will likely stop working again tomorrow....

State of the UC Union
Unified Communication and Collaboration (UC&C) is a combination of various communication methods and collaboration tools such as virtual whiteboards, real-time audio and video conferencing and enhanced call control capabilities to improve efficiency in the workplace. It provides a collection of easy-to-use solutions that can be implemented in various organizations to ensure that the end user receives a nearly real-time collaboration experience that works efficiently, smoothly and securely.
Video collaboration has been evolved from hardware-based codecs of traditional Polycom and Cisco Systems to more software driven solution of Microsoft Teams, Zooms, Google Meets, WebEx, post the pandemic. A lot of the solutions have now been replaced with simpler easier to deploy solutions for small meeting rooms, mid-size meeting rooms as well as larger boardrooms, meeting rooms, training rooms and large venue spaces such as Auditoriums and event spaces. However, the challenges of designing, executing and implementing the technologies and the user experience still remain. The intend of this whitepaper is to ensuring the reader to make the right decision based on today’s available technology. Video conferencing has become an increasingly important aspect of today’s world, as many organizations are transitioning to hybrid working environments. It has greatly aided in connecting people over a phone call where people can experience real-time video conferencing features while being located in different remote locations which would not be possible with Video conferencing platforms.
Tumblr media
Types of Video Conferencing:
Telepresence Video Conferencing System
Integrated Video Conferencing System
Desktop Video Conferencing System
Video Collaboration Platforms:
Zooms
Microsoft Teams
Google Meets
Cisco
WebEX
What are Native and Non- Native Solutions. Why is it important in a Video Collaboration system?
Video conferencing is a live audio-visual connection between two or more remote parties over the internet that simulates a face-to-face meeting in real-time. In the business world, desktop video conferencing is a core component of Unified communications platforms that also include calling and messaging capabilities. Standalone on-premises and cloud-based video conferencing platforms are also available from numerous vendors who support desktop and room-based Video conferencing solutions with the ability to embed them into business applications, such as Telehealth, customer service and distance learning, etc.
The Primary difference between a Native and a Non-Native system is the user experience. Post Work from home and Back to office systems imply that the end users wants a user interface (IPAD, OEM’s touch panel, etc..) to have the same familiar look and feel that they are dialing/ joining directly from their laptop. Native user experiences also allow for a seamless connection to users within the enterprises in terms of a active directory integration as well. These native integrations have to be certified by the certified solution provides (Microsoft Team, Zooms, etc…) as a part of being through the ecosystem.
Though more expensive, native systems offer a more seamless experience to the management. Non-Native systems can be simply a Video collaboration bar in a room with a PC behind the display, essentially the PC is a desktop/ user laptop that allow content sharing as well as dialing/joining into the enterprise (As the main UC Engine). Non-native applications are easy to deploy, lower cost to maintenance as well.
Differences between Native and Non-Native Solutions
Hard Codec Running Native UC Platform Modes UC hardware often runs in “Native Mode,” meaning that the built-in Windows/Mac or Android computer is running a single UC Platform application such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. The system is “locked in” to that platform. This is a great option if your business is already using a soft client version on employees’ laptops, as you essentially just extend this experience to the meeting room. Employees can then make a Zoom call from their laptops, or a Zoom call from a conference room’s dedicated “Native” platform. They are already familiar with the UI and so the transition to a hardware version feels seamless.
Soft codec Running Native UC Platform Modes
Soft codec systems are more commonly known as cloud or web-based video conferencing software. They’re “soft” as they don’t need codec hardware to work, and “codec” refers to devices or programs that compress and decompress data. It just needs a USB peripheral device such as USB camera, USB microphone and thin client PC in which all the software platforms can be loaded and they can initiate the call using wireless keyboard and mouse.
Unified Communication & Collaboration Tools for Native Interface
Zoom Rooms Zoom Rooms, the Modern Hybrid workspaces for Teams, brings HD video collaboration into any space – in the office, the classroom, or at home – and allows in[1]person and remote participants to interact in real-time. Conclusion
Enterprises today face a range of options, and we feel the top five takeaways are as follows:
Understand your vision for the Unified Collaboration rollout for your enterprise well in advance. (Spend time planning.)
Do trial runs with different manufacturers and end users to understand what works and what doesn’t across a range of budgets.
Deploy in small batches.
Understand the long-term value of the system as well as the compatibility with other systems that may come along the way that we may feel are going to be more software-driven.
Collect and analyze data around usage patterns using room schedulers, sensors on clouds, and analytics platforms to assist in improving the user experience as well as assisting with remote asset management and remote deployments.

Zoom-Bombing To The Top
"Get off your phone and go outside." With the modern generation, many parents seemed to consistently reiterate this to their tech-addicted kids. However, that all changed around March 2020. With the unprecedented spread of the pandemic, parents had to practically beg their kids to stay indoors for months on end as a means to stop the spread.
This is where zoom comes into play. As the message of "physical distancing" not social distancing was relayed, a way for many individuals to stay connected and get through this once in a century situation together was on this video-conferencing platform. However, the profits generated from zoom came as jobs had to quickly pivot to an online setting to continue some level of production. The firm saw a rise of 370% within the last three months of 2020, absolutely unprecedented growth fueled by the pandemic.
To provide some context, Zoom Video Communications was founded in 2011 by Eric Yuan, a former Cisco executive. The company's goal was to create a video conferencing platform that was easy to use and accessible to everyone. In the early days, Zoom faced competition from established players like Skype and Google Hangouts. However, the company's focus on user experience, reliability, and security helped it gain traction among businesses and individuals alike. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further accelerated Zoom's growth, as remote work and virtual meetings became the norm. As of 2021, Zoom is one of the most widely used video conferencing platforms in the world, with over 300 million daily meeting participants.
But how did zoom become so popular and exhibit signs of a monopoly? Well, the reasons are rather simple. As mentioned before, zoom was the platform everyone could turn to during the pandemic from the smallest kids looking for fun to grandmas enjoying knitting classes there was a place for everyone. It was as simple as joining through the link leading to an array of possibiities. Customizable backgrounds, screen-sharing and so on. One thing that helped me personally was the recording of specific sessions that I could re-watch so that I could continue playing on my x-box :). Jokes aside, zoom saw this reliance as a way to maximize profits. While the free version still has neat features, payment of simple licenses could allow up to 300 members to join a call for a large amount of time. This was very convenient for companies having large team gatherings, college seminars with a lot of students, or online parties where your neighbor is telling you to keep it down at 3 am. Zoom could charge different prices to different groups since they had the power to do so. Essentially, the uniqueness of zoom during the pandemic allowed them to maximize profits through price discrimination, all of which are characteristics of monopolies in monopolistic markets.
With research finding that employees actually show more productivity in an online setting as opposed to in person ones, the future of zoom is here to stay especially as the company transitions towards Zoom business for a more corporate lense. But let's be honest, we all want to get up at 9 am and show up to meeting from the comfort of our bed (I know I do for sure). Regardless, zoom showed that when there is a need for a product much like Google and Facebook, a company can take advantage and take the market by storm. Rise in Demand Due to Covid (Figure 1).
