Matt Shuham at HuffPost:
The national group representing college Democrats released a statement Tuesday standing with pro-Palestinian campus protesters and criticizing President Joe Biden for his “bear hug” of what the group called “the genocidal acts of the far-right radical extremist Israeli government.”
The statement, released by the College Democrats of America, illustrated a break with the Democratic Party — of which it is an official arm. It was approved by an 8-2 vote of the group’s executive board, which is made up of national leadership that has been elected by representatives of campus and state college Democrats chapters across the country. “Since the beginning of this conflict, College Democrats and students from every walk of life have had the moral clarity to see this war for what it is: destructive, genocidal, and unjust,” the CDA statement read. It commended the “bravery” of students facing arrest and disciplinary action for their protests, and condemned college administrators for those responses. Across the country, student protesters have called for an Israeli cease-fire in Gaza, and institutional transparency and divestment with regard to investments in Israeli firms, or those linked to American military aid to Israel.
The statement also called for the “release of all hostages” and condemned the rise in domestic antisemitism and Islamophobia in the wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel and Israel’s subsequent invasion and air barrage of Gaza, saying Jewish and Muslim students had no control over the conflict. Still, it said, “it should be abundantly clear that calling for the freedom of Palestinians is not Antisemetic [sic], and neither is opposing the genocidal acts of the far-right radical extremist Israeli government.” The statement’s harshest criticism was directed at the president and his reelection campaign. The White House, according to the CDA, has pursued a “cold shoulder strategy for its own base and all Americans who want to see an end to this war.” “Each day that Democrats fail to stand united for a permanent ceasefire, two-state solution, and recognition of a Palestinian state, more and more youth find themselves disillusioned with the party,” the statement read. It earned praise from progressives across the country including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and the former Ohio state legislator and prominent Bernie Sanders supporter Nina Turner.
[...] The national College Democrats group began working on the statement after Columbia University’s president, Minouche Shafik, called in police to clear a pro-Palestinian encampment on campus two weeks ago; overnight Tuesday, Shafik called in police again, this time to clear a building where protesters had set up camp after Shafik began suspending students for their protest. Both instances resulted in several dozen arrests. Pyarali cited other campus protests as inspiration as well, including at Indiana University, where police snipers were stationed above protesters. “It’s insane, it’s not a war zone, it’s a college campus,” he said.
The statement doesn’t necessarily represent the thousands of Democratic college students whose campus chapters fall under the larger College Democrats umbrella. Rather, the only binding vote on its release was held by the CDA executive board. Two members of that body opposed it. One of them, Joshua Martin, the former student body president at the University of Houston, commented on social media: “The only way to bring peace is to destroy Hamas, who through years of terror have subjugated Palestinians to decades of violence.” Allyson Bell, a Meredith College graduate student and chair of the College Democrats Jewish Caucus — and who collaborated with Pyarali in a December call for cease-fire — told HuffPost in an email that earlier statements focused on condemning instances of campus antisemitism had been “voted down by the executive board and replaced with what was released.” She called the final statement “one sided.”
The College Democrats of America's response to the nationwide protests against Israel's genocide campaign on Gaza that criticized President Joe Biden for being too close to Israel Apartheid State government is spot-on.

sanders sides and situational context
okay i'm adding nuance to my sanders sides take because i feel like it needs to be said.
i don't think having sanders sides episodes be ad reads are a bad thing. it's important to remember that this is thomas' livelihood and he has people to pay.
i also don't think fluff is a bad thing, and i genuinely miss when episodes were light and breezy. (which, reminder: that's what the Aside videos were meant to be.)
i don't think having a fluff, time-filling video for an ad read is bad.
but i DO think that doing an ad read for a series that has not had a main plot-centric episode uploaded in roughly 2 years while the fanbase is held in update-less limbo isn't exactly a good look.
i've seen several people try to play the "gotcha!" card of: "well the crofters video was an ad too!"
firstly, as i said: it's not a bad thing for a sanders sides episode to be an ad.
secondly, the crofters video was uploaded April 19th, 2018. the next video, Learning New Things About Ourselves (the puppet episode) was uploaded October 29th, 2018.
roughly six months. LNTAO was a high-production video, and the delay was more than understandable. however, six months compared to two years isn't exactly a fair comparison.
(side tangent: i've seen some people talking about a supposed bonus episode made that was locked to patreon; i don't have patreon nor am i fully informed about the situation or if it's even real so i have no opinion no the matter.)
i have not seen the newest video yet, but i am excited to do so. i have missed these characters greatly and they hold a special place in my heart. but that does not negate my frustrations with thomas + co. about how disjointed this series has become.
in no way am i demanding new content. in this age of the push for endless content consumption, i am not asking nor expecting an indie team such as them to create new episodes every week as it used to be. that would be ridiculous.
i'm asking for clarity. that thomas would occasionally tweet "scripting is 1/2 done!" or "we're slowing sanders sides production to focus on other projects/ensure that the finale product is up to our stands/take a break."
if the thomas and/or team were to say "hey, we're going radio-silent for the next few months to really focus on the finale, don't expect any new content for a while", i would scream for joy. because then at least we would know to wait, and roughly for how long.
it's the fact that we sort of get new unrelated videos at the same time that this really high-production finale is getting workshopped that concerns me. this is not healthy time-management.
it feels disingenuous to keep fans in the dark about a very high-production (and fan-funded given patreon,) end-of-season 4-parter, and announce more merchandise for a series that has felt as though it were abandoned.
i'm certain it's difficult behind the scenes, and i wish the team would let off some of that pressure to release smaller, low-production videos that are slice-of-life and less taxing to create. (probably once a month at best.) or at bare minimum, the fans are better informed on the timeline of production, so that the waiting feels less infinite.
i'm not expecting anything to change. and while i joke about being angry with the team, i'm not. i'm not even disappointed, really.
in truth, i fear for the future of the series if things continue at this rate. and i hope the team takes the time to acknowledge this stagnant feeling within the fandom and take measures to counter it. that's all i can hope for.
tl;dr people have a right to be frustrated with the new video, people have a right to be happy with the new video, and updates on production would be nice, though it shouldn't be expected as much as i hope for it.
thanks for reading

Sidney Powell Didn't Flip on Trump or MAGA
Molly McCann Sanders
Oct 24, 2023
slightly dated but important info, shorter version was posted on qrbunker.
It is alarming (although not surprising) to see the misinformation in headlines, new articles, and on social media about Sidney Powell’s plea in Georgia last week. Even good Republicans and MAGA supporters seem confused and misinformed about the facts of her plea, many believing she has disavowed her position on the 2020 election and betrayed her supporters or that she has “flipped” on Trump.
First, let’s be very clear that Sidney did not plead guilty to a conspiracy with Donald Trump to unlawfully overturn the 2020 election. The RICO charge was dropped as part of Sidney’s plea. To repeat for absolute clarity, Sidney did not plead guilty to a charge that she unlawfully tried to overturn the 2020 election or otherwise “admit” that the claims the 2020 election were stolen were unsubstantiated.
Instead, she pled to six misdemeanors. In this excellent Substack post by TechnoFog, TechnoFog wrote the following about the misdemeanors:
[Sidney’s] plea deal is narrow and only relates to conduct that occurred in Coffee County, Georgia, where contractors accessed voting machines with the permission of local officials. Let us add a few words about those charges: Coffee County officials gave a written invitation for contractors from technical group SullivanStrickler to access their voting machines. Powell didn’t authorize those actions; she approved payment to SullivanStrickler after the fact. Of course, Fulton County maintains that local officials had no authority to grant access to voting machines, therefore making all of their actions illegal. (Authority would have been an issue at Powell’s trial.) In any event, Fulton County has no evidence that Powell or anyone from SullivanStrickler knew that Coffee County officials didn’t have this authority.
Claims she flipped on Donald Trump are outlandish and without basis.
We say that someone has flipped when a defendant agrees to testify/incriminate someone else in exchange for a lighter charge or suggested lighter sentence. But Sidney’s plea agreement is for conduct unrelated to Donald Trump and only tenuously related to even Sidney herself. Simply put: Sidney agreed to take the rap for the disputed access to Fulton County machines.
Second, keep in mind that Sidney’s plea is different from the other pleas. The media has been reporting on each plea as if each co-defendant is caving and pleading to the same serious charges---admitting the fight for election integrity was a fraud and there was a conspiracy with Trump. This is not true.

The great Erich Fromm:
“A person who has not been completely alienated, who has remained sensitive and able to feel, who has not lost the sense of dignity, who is not yet "for sale", who can still suffer over the suffering of others, who has not acquired fully the having mode of existence - briefly, a person who has remained a person and not become a thing - cannot help feeling lonely, powerless, isolated in present-day society. He cannot help doubting himself and his own convictions, if not his sanity. He cannot help suffering, even though he can experience moments of joy and clarity that are absent in the life of his "normal" contemporaries. Not rarely will he suffer from neurosis that results from the situation of a sane man living in an insane society, rather than that of the more conventional neurosis of a sick man trying to adapt himself to a sick society. In the process of going further in his analysis, i.e. of growing to greater independence and productivity, his neurotic symptoms will cure themselves.”
"The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that men may become robots."
"The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man to unfold his powers."
"Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction."
"Understanding a person does not mean condoning; it only means that one does not accuse him as if one were God or a judge placed above him."
"The successful revolutionary is a statesman, the unsuccessful one a criminal."
"One cannot be deeply responsive to the world without being saddened very often."
“Love isn't something natural. Rather it requires discipline, concentration, patience, faith, and the overcoming of narcissism. It isn't a feeling, it is a practice.”
“If other people do not understand our behavior—so what? Their request that we must only do what they understand is an attempt to dictate to us. If this is being "asocial" or "irrational" in their eyes, so be it. Mostly they resent our freedom and our courage to be ourselves. We owe nobody an explanation or an accounting, as long as our acts do not hurt or infringe on them. How many lives have been ruined by this need to "explain," which usually implies that the explanation be "understood," i.e. approved. Let your deeds be judged, and from your deeds, your real intentions, but know that a free person owes an explanation only to himself—to his reason and his conscience—and to the few who may have a justified claim for explanation.”
“Love is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise. If love were only a feeling, there would be no basis for the promise to love each other forever. A feeling comes and it may go. How can I judge that it will stay forever, when my act does not involve judgment and decision.”
“Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.”
“That millions of people share the same forms of mental pathology does not make these people sane.”
“Nationalism is our form of incest, is our idolatry, is our insanity. 'Patriotism' is its cult...Just as love for one individual which excludes the love for others is not love, love for one's country which is not part of one's love for humanity is not love, but idolatrous worship.”
“There is perhaps no phenomenon which contains so much destructive feeling as 'moral indignation,' which permits envy or hate to be acted out under the guise of virtue.”
“Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence.”
~ Erich Fromm, psychoanalyst and author (23 Mar 1900-1980)

Did I miss something about Bernie and gay grooming? Or perhaps I misunderstood what you were saying?
I rewrote that sentence.
For clarity, the Bernie thing is in relation to Daniel Ortega. When the Miskito and Rana people were unwilling to turn over their land to the Nicaraguan government, Ortega unleashed a campaign of bombings and shootings, a policy which is still ongoing as business interests frequently encroach on timber resources and mineral deposits. Sanders continued to raise money for Ortega, and when opposition press published what Ortega was doing, Sanders angrily cut off reporters and compared the opposition press to Nazi newspapers publishing articles on how to kill Jewish people. To Sanders, anti-Native American policies are exclusively an opposition thing. He largely goes uncriticized for his support on this, because for the vast majority of Americans, Native Americans don't exist outside of the United States and Canada.
Sorry for the confusion, Publius.

I've been thinking all day about what I'd like to say, it's supposed to be an anniversary thank you letter, and as such it should be mostly about the subject of celebration, namely, The Sanders Sides series.
But the way this series has impacted me on such a personal level makes it hard not to talk about it without talking about myself and that impact that it has had.
I didn't start watching the series until after both parts of Accepting Anxiety came out. It wasn't long after that that my own mental health and anxiety hit a pretty significant rough patch and having Sander Sides as a type of guide in dealing with my anxiety made a world of difference, I was able to be so much kinder to myself because of the modeling of the series.
Tools like recognizing Häagen-Dazs dispersion cognitive distortions and learning to recognize what were my symptoms of anxiety truly did improve my quality of life. That's not to say I do this perfectly every time, but it is a tool that the series gave me years before I'd be able to get into therapy and that really carried me through in a lot of way.
Talking about The Chart still hurts and it would be a few years after this parties video came out before I would understand why beyond knowing how hurt and belittled I felt at being given my own Chart. Being told that your passions aren't important really leaves a mark.
I've always struggled with intrusive thoughts. Being a trauma survivor, I think it's a requirement. I...for a long time was in denial about my trauma, what it was and the impact it left on me. I thought I was cruel and a monster for writing certain traumas into both my original and fan works. No matter what I did to avoid it, the themes kept returning.
Remus being introduced really did a lot to help me. It relieved that burden of guilt and shame that I had been carrying, but it also made me aware that the intrusion thoughts I was having were like a giant flag that my brain was waving and I realized I was trying to process trauma via fiction. And while I know that wasn't something discussed in the video, it is something that I feel I wouldn't have understood as well or when I did without it.
And then came POF. This is the one that made me understand why I had been so hurt by the Chart I had been given. It wasn't until I saw the wounded expression on Roman's face that I realized that that was what I had felt years before, but had shut out, claiming it didn't hurt, that it was fine and reasonable and all these justifications for something that had wounded me deeply.
The conversation that ended with me having my own Chart didn't just cause an emotional wound, it wounded something even more deeply than that. Because this was given to me by someone who had seemingly once supported me and my ambitions, who seemed to have cared about the things I was doing and creating. So being given the Chart, being very explicitly and literally told I wasn't good enough. It felt like a betrayal. And it wasn't until Roman sank out with that look of hurt and betrayal that I realized that that is thr same kind of hurt I'd been keeping burried for years.
Recognizing that hurt. But I've been able now to take steps to address and heal that wound. I really don't think I would have recognized that with such clarity were it not for this series.
The way this series has helped me has been a bit unconventional, but it has also been invaluable. I truly would not be where I am today without it. So thank you.
Thank you @thatsthat24 and Co. You've really made my life so much better.

Nancy Drew 1x16: The Haunting of Nancy Drew
(or the one where my ethical issues with private infant adoption get REAL)
Okay, we know you're into the supernatural Nancy, but you mean you'd vomit an omen anyday?
A blessed break from Owen in this episode!
I need a makeup routine for all three girls. Immediately.
John Sander is the BEST. The true "normal person comes to crazy town" trope.
Tumblr media
"Made that out of clay." Ace, sweet baby, ily.
How did Nancy get those case files, especially with Tamura?
Ah, asking her mother for help without knowing it!
Also, "did my mom have something to do with Lucy's death". Double meaning there.
God, baby Fanson. I love them.
Tumblr media
The thing is before Nace were ever a thing, Fanson was great. I don't root for Fanson because of Nace, I root for Fanson on its own merits, while I hated Nancy and Nick as a couple.
Don't panic. Everyone: panics.
Tamura! I loved him.
"Is he a vampire?"
Ace can hack in 2 minutes, and should absolutely have been snapped up by some kind of government agency at this point.
Another theme for this episode: poor, poor Ryan. The face acting Riley does in this episode! His father made the love of his life kill herself, and he has to deal with the fact that she died thinking Ryan hated her.
Tumblr media
People remember the events of 20 years ago with startling clarity.
Do Americans call pickles gherkins? Thought that was a British thing?
Lucy, someone who was at least 16, has the journal of a 5 year old.
Again, gonna put it out there that the people who ensured Lucy's death, a pregnant child, were the people of Horseshoe Bay. Don't know if I'd defend them hard if I were Carson.
Excellent casting, because I do see Lucy's facial features in Nancy.
Hoo boy, here we go. Let's start this with a disclaimer: I know that the internet is where nuance goes to die, but I want to make it clear I am not anti-adoption. I also fully recognize that many birth mothers, through their own free choice and zero coersion, choose to place their babies for adoption, and even if they had access to resources, this is the choice they would make. I am not calling that unethical. I'm also aware I am applying my own personal ethical issues with adoption to a fictional TV show. Okay, we good? Okay, let's get into it.
Lucy Sable was a (presumably) 16 year old child who had been relentlessly bullied into an incredibly emotional state, had just given birth, and had thought the love of her life hated her and never wanted to see her again. This is not a person in a clear emotional state, capable of making long-term decisions. I get that they absolutely did not know that Lucy would jump off the cliff, but Carson justifying everything with "Lucy wanted this. This was Lucy's wish. We didn't tell the Hudsons because Lucy wanted this" is somewhat understandable but frankly also a load of shit.
Lucy did not know the truth. Ryan deserved to know the truth. Nancy deserved to know the truth. I find it very hard to accept that Carson and Kate were "honoring Lucy's wishes" by never telling her (and never planning on telling her) that she was adopted, and never telling Ryan, robbing him of the opportunity to raise Nancy, or even to know Nancy. I get that Everett couldn't know. That does not mean Ryan couldn't, and that does not mean Nancy couldn't, especially as an adult, and the thing is, Carson gaslit her the entire season and would have continued to lie to Nancy if she hadn't figured out the truth on her own.
A whole whack of Nancy's identity issues are thanks to Carson and Kate, who refused to tell Nancy who she really was. Adopted children deserve to know, and know about, their birth families. It is very easy, as we have seen, to use a teenager's tragic and highly emotional situation for their own benefits. So Carson trying constantly to justify himself as having done the right thing is...that's hard to get over.
While I absolutely believe love makes family too, biology is an interwoven part of who a person is, and never acknowledging the birth parent or family as part of an adoptee's story is...harmful to say the least.
I know Nancy and Ryan forgave Carson, but that's always going to stick at the back of my mind. Yes, Nancy was his. He was her father. I get that, and I know that was real in Nancy's mind too. She was also Lucy's. And she was Ryan's. And his refusal to acknowledge that is....ehh.
Tumblr media
I suppose we'll get more ranting next episode, but that's the core of it.

AO3 Tag Game!
Tagged by @mvshortcut :) I did it here as well but now I'm doing it for this fandom/account bc I CAN (a lot of this will be directly copy/pasted if applicable im sowwy)
How many works do you have on AO3?
116. (Including snippet collections.) For this fandom/account. Far more if you count others,
What’s your total AO3 word count?
Okay this one it won't let me separate by pseud or fandom so you're just gonna have to live with being lumped in with all my MBS and a few other misc fics at "653,461". Didn't get the other accounts though. Man, I'm a mess
How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Okay, well, this one by nature is also not solely for this fandom,

That's actually 6 bc I made a mistake but I've already color coded them so whatever
Do you respond to comments?
I really try to, but then I get all in my head about it and/or am really really tired and put it off so long it then feels like it would be weird to respond because it's been forever. However, if there's a direct question or something I want to address/respond to, as in, I have something particularly unique to say or a question to answer, then I'll usually respond really fast.
And this fandom's smaller so if I'm slightly more likely to respond 😭
Also when I know who's commenting personally which is al ot more likely
What’s the fic with the angstiest ending you’ve ever written?
Honestly, I'm not a huge unhappy ending person, but. uhhh
solo
bring me home (in a blinding dream)
hollowed
seasalt
checkmate
dark side of the moon
wretched clarity
cruel kindness
green-eyed monster
the naming of cats
curled & crushed
oops
I didn't even look at the snippet collections lkgfhjh
Do you write crossovers?
Not often, but I rotate them in my brain. Honestly, though, I'm more inclined to write a fusion than a crossover proper. And even so, I tend to just be thinking about it rather than actually writing it. I've only written one crossover in recent memory (recently, that is) and it was mostly a joke about a shared actress made into actual angst. :)
Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
Yeah lmao
Do you write smut?
😏 ......not for this fandom. That I'd post anyway
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
👁️👁️ not. Directly in this fandom
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!! also not in this fandom
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
In this fandom? Nicholas/Milligan. Overall, ever? Recency bias/hyperfixationitis says whatever I'm into the most at the moment. But generally for MBS I prefer gen (although I've written a lot of Nicholas/Milligan, that's partially because it's blissfully easier to find gen already)
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
:(
SO many
Particularly minotaur, the dearly departed, and the "paralyzed" series. Oh and the hanahaki AU
What are your writing strengths?
I think I can write a really funny string of dialogue, and I'm also fond of fun metaphors, both in the elegant poetic way and in the more Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett way (which is to say, still potentially elegant but also comedic as hell)
What are your writing weaknesses?
Motivating myself to write anything; being overly self-indulgent
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?
I'm extremely bad at linguistics in general, so if I must include someone talking in another language in my fic, I think I'd tend to cheat and do italics or some other indication that this is 'in another language' (ie "Where are you going?" she asked in Russian), but that's admittedly a lazy approach. But I also think it's probably better than butchering it with an auto-translator? Also, when people just include the translation in the end notes, even with a link (although that makes it marginally better) it breaks the flow of the story and makes it hard to read. Making an effort to at least match grammar is good (which I would do if it was for longer than a single scene, probably) but I think the best solution is when people know what they're doing and like, have an actual translation with a little html code so you can click on it and it reveals what it means? Or if you're clever, revealing what it means using context around it, but that has its own limitations. So that both like, uses the actual language and doesn't break up the flow. It balances accessibility, flow, and respect for the other language in question well. But you've got to both know what you're doing with the language (either asking someone/hiring someone/knowing the language yourself) and the html (although there are guides for that you'd have to spend time figuring it out + know it exists in the first place to look). And this is fanfiction, something we ultimately do for free in our spare time, so the lazy approach, I think, can be understandable. Maybe not in every context, but it's not worth stressing a lot over in a few random lines or anything, you know? It is really cool when people do know a language well enough to include it properly in a fic, though, it can say a lot about a character or dynamic; and their background(s) and like. it's neat :)
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Ever? Doctor Who. In a shitty little notebook in middle school. Then there was some Star Trek (both TNG and TOS) and Avatar: the Last Airbender and Marvel and such, and then Supernatural (my first smut? extremely terrible Destiel smut. rip) and I think the first thing I ever posted was Welcome to Night Vale? Not sure.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?
Oh, man. I have no idea. Here's a few favorites from this fandom:
cain's lament
minotaur
shades of green
a hope in hell

If I see one more person misconstrue good-faith criticism against Thomas Sanders and the way he’s handling his series, I’m going to scream.
Yes, there are people who genuinely despise the man, and are nitpicking anything that can prove that he is an evil person. There are people who are constantly pestering Thomas about the long wait, demanding the content they want this instant. Those people aren’t being productive with their criticism, and I can understand being frustrated with them. Hell, I’M frustrated with them!
But there ARE valid criticisms. Thomas has recently been very bad with handling questions about the series, as his recent Twitter posts have shown, and he hasn’t been transparent about what’s going on with Sanders Sides.
If you don’t take anything else away from this post, THAT’S what we’re upset about. We aren’t upset about the wait itself. We will GLADLY wait days, months, YEARS for this series we love. We already HAVE waited years, and we likely will continue to do so! But we don’t know what’s going ON. He has given us very few updates, and in the few updates he has given us, he has been INCREDIBLY VAGUE.
And he CAN BE VAGUE, just ACKNOWLEDGE IT.
“Hey guys! This series is taking longer than I thought it would for reasons I don’t feel comfortable disclosing! I can’t give you an exact date for when the next part will be out because I don’t know when it’ll be done, but it will take a long time! Please be patient, thank you!”
THAT’S IT! That’s all we want! But as far as I know, he hasn’t announced an official hiatus or anything of the sort. He has just said that he’s “working on it”, which doesn’t tell us ANYTHING.
If he is prioritizing Roleslaying or another project, THAT’S FINE! Just TELL US, so we don’t expect something we aren’t going to get!
People have brought up how the series used to be as part of their argument, on both sides. The production quality was lower, but updates were more frequent. I won’t argue about which era of the series was better. But the point I want to make is that Thomas set up a precedent. After years of this series, we’ve come to expect this type of update schedule.
And now, obviously, it’s changed. And that’s FINE. But when a precedent has been established, and then it’s changed without any kind of announcement, it’s reasonable that people are confused and kinda thrown off! And we would be a lot less confused if Thomas would TELL US WHAT’S GOING ON!
I don’t know Thomas personally. I’ve never interacted with him. I’m sure he’s a lovely man. But he can be a wonderful person AND be irresponsible interacting with his fans. Not every bit of criticism thrown at Thomas is a direct attack against his character! Kindness and irresponsibility aren’t mutually exclusive! And yes, there ARE people using these recent tweets as attacks against Thomas as a person. You can be upset about that. But there are also people analyzing these responses and (rightfully so in my opinion) asking for some accountability!
I understand that he’s frustrated! I would be as well, in his circumstance! And there ARE people who are being incredibly rude and unhelpful in demanding that Thomas pump out Sanders Sides content at a faster pace! That is incredibly unreasonable!
But that isn’t what everyone is saying to him! Many people are being perfectly polite and asking for the smallest bit of clarity! And yes, this can also be really frustrating! But it isn’t completely unwarranted! When you don’t say anything, people ask questions! And the best way to stop people from asking questions? ANSWER SOME OF THEM!
You can still be a fan of the series that Thomas made AND be critical of him and the series. The fact that we take the time to express and convey these criticisms in a manner we hope to be constructive is a testament to the love we have for it, and the potential we don’t feel it’s reaching. So don’t you DARE suggest that we are any less part of this fandom, or “fake fans”, because we see some flaws in the system. We can love something and acknowledge it’s flaws. You are no better than us because you are standing on the other side of this argument.
If I’ve missed anything, which I likely have, then feel free to correct anything I’ve gotten incorrect. I know my perspective may have some gaps. But I’d like to have a conversation with someone who disagrees with me, rather than someone seeing the words “ts criticism” and immediately assuming that we are ungrateful little shits who hate everything Thomas stands for.
Once again, I apologize for the wave of criticism on my blog. You are more than welcome to unfollow or block me of that makes you upset, no hard feelings on my side. But I wanted to say something, and I doubt my stance will change. I hope, going forward, that we can discuss the ups and downs of this series without fingers being pointed or accusations being thrown. From BOTH sides.

ethan’s reaction to marissa saying ‘i have a boyfriend’ when ethan tries to hug/kiss her or smth because she’s wayyy too hammered? because i live for that scenario 💓
MAL 💖💖💖 I LOVE THIS ASK SO MUCH !!
Here, I wrote this drabble for you. I hope you like it! Love you <3333
INEBRIATED
Tumblr media
Seven shots of tequila later, Marissa Sanders was in her "break a leg" territory. Not the one where she actually breaks her leg, but the alcohol enveloping full control of her five senses and making her lose control on the bar's dance floor.
Jackie's birthday party had turned into a full-blown rager, and surprisingly Marissa was the spotlight of it.
And the birthday girl was responsible that every person in her party returned home safe and sound, so she didn't have any choice, but to call the Chief of the hospital she worked in to take away his not-so sober girlfriend.
When Ethan arrived at the rager, he didn't expect the sight he witnessed. Marissa along with Sienna and Aurora commandeering the dance floor with their enthusiastic dance moves. It was certainly a unique sight to behold as the said women are known for their sophisticated demeanor.
Ethan couldn't help himself, but smile. He carefully stepped on the dance floor, maneuvering away from the drunken limbs throwing bodies, making his way to his girlfriend. He tapped on her shoulder to get her inebriated attention.
"It's very late. I think we should be getting back together. Don't you think so?"
Ethan tries to gently pull her close when Marissa interrupts, throwing her hands up dramatically, her voice slurring comically.
"Woahhhhh there... mister! Pleased to inform youuuu, but I happen to have a boyfriend."
Ethan raises one of his eyebrows slightly, a playful smirk playing on his lips.
"Oh? And who happens to be that lucky man?"
"One of the best…" she sways, trying to gain her footing as Ethan helps her, "...and the hottest diagnosticians in the country! Like you are not even in his… league."
"And what makes you think I'm not that person, Rookie?"
The familiar nickname hits her, sobering her up for a minute. She carefully takes Ethan's face in her hands, caressing his cheekbones, to gain some clarity.
"Ethan." A confirmation.
He kisses her on the forehead, "Let's get you home."
Home.
"Will you pleaseee carry me, doctor?" She pleads, giving him a winsome look in her drunken state.
He chuckles as he lifts her off her feet, carrying her to his car.

Hello! I saw your post regarding Dislyte requests. Is so, would you accept Leon x reader? Where reader is drawn to him and tries to become friends, but because he’s distant he doesn’t really care. But then, reader has a breakdown from a mission due to whatever reason and Leon notices going from there 👀
i see gloomy sniper man and go, he's so babygirl
nav.
Tumblr media
note: mentions of illusions/hallucinations, leon being leon which i hope isn't ooc bc i haven't rly written for him before, i didn't describe it as a breakdown exactly, but just thought i'd mention it just in case. maybe hurt/comfort (also does anyone still write for dislyte or did i work on the stuff in my inbox too late dksvjsk)
You find Leon cleaning his rifle in the same spot, taking it apart and putting it back together with practiced ease.
His eyes only look up at you for a moment, humming in greeting, hands still occupied. Usually you’d be lucky enough for him to look at you, much less even greet you in his unique Leon way.
“How are your injuries?” You nearly jump out of your skin.
“Pardon?”
“How are your injuries?” He repeats.
Your eyes trail to your hands, mostly uncovered now, the worst you had to deal with now was bruising, and the occasional sore spot here and there.
An unfortunate incident was the official description. Miramon experiments going wrong and surrounding personnel under what could be described as mass hysteria. You were one of the lucky ones, or unlucky maybe, to be lost within your own head, madness shrouding you in comparison to the others that had dealt with much worse injuries in comparison.
What you don’t know is that the sniper was the one to find you, his normal lackadaisical expression gone as he hovered over your form.
The fight was short, laughably so.
But it burned into his memory, your eyes manic as your words were garbled between whispers and shrieks of hysteria. According to Anseidora, when he threatens probes for answers on your condition, the researcher simply says the now dead miramon had the sort of power to force its victims to relieve a memory or see things in order to control people.
In short moments of clarity, what you saw, over and over again, was how you had gotten your powers as an esper. A hush hush thing, only those with the clearance had access to any file that may have existed, enough that it was rumored that Sander himself was just one of two.
Leon normally would have left well enough alone after you were subdued. But an uncomfortable feeling stirred in his chest as you fell. His gaze had lingered on your prone form as you were taken away to be treated. But he had to find out more. Not for his own conscious, of course, but rather to satisfy the growing questions at the back of his mind.
After all, why should he have a need to soothe his conscious? Despite your attempts at cordiality, his own nature left much to be desired and often times downright he could have been ignoring any attempts at interaction past assignments and other missions that you both were assigned under.
(A lie if there ever was one, but it wasn't like he was going to admit that.)
He is giving you just the slightest look of impatience, where his eyebrows furrow just enough to lean away from cool indifference.
"My injuries are fine..." You manage, tugging at your sleeves, your eyes leaving his first.
"I see."
There is a pregnant pause, and you take that as that. Turning to leave the sniper to his devices once more, before a throat clearing stops you.
"It would do no good for you to remain unsupervised while you remain in recovery." This time it's the red haired man's turn to avoid your gaze. You hum in acknowledgement.
"I suppose, though that would best be found in the medical wing, would it not?"
A fair point, he must have realized, as he began to pack his rifle in its case, "Then I shall accompany you there."
You don't hide your surprise this time. An eyebrow arching slightly in question, but it is left unanswered. You supposed you could let him have his way this time.

One more of my tarot cards just dropped! And guess what? It's for yet another fandom. So far, we had Doctor Who, Sanders Sides, Black Butler, La Casa de Papel, and Le Visiteur du Futur... well, now, it's time for Star Trek. I know. It makes no sens.
So, let me introduce Spock, as the King of Swords.
Tumblr media
Yes I am proud of that one.
Quick quick explanation ! Why that card ?
Upright, the King of Swords is a symbol of intellectual power, the head over the heart. It indicates you have a clarity of mind and ca, perceive the truth, so it's up to you to take the lead with providing an objective point of view and making decisions based on impartial judgement. You are masterful at keeping your emotion in check, you cut straight to the point, you are efficient and cherish logic and intellect, even tho it can seems like you are not particularly caring or sympathic. Basically, you are a Vulcan.
Reversed, it means you represents a "quiet power" : you are not the loudest person in the room (that one is your captain, for example, currently having an illogical shooting match with the ship's doctor), but you have a lot to contribute. You stand firm in your truth, and you do not allow others to steer you off-course. Even if it means you can be a bit stubborn, sometimes.
And therefore, yeah. Spock. Not just because he's my fav or anything...
Tumblr media
Stay tune for the next cards ! If all goes according to plan, you shall see, soon enough I hope, a certain Fiddler's Green make an appearance.

I want the American people to remember this, with absolute clarity: When George Floyd was murdered, this same group of vultures aka The Squad were all down in the polls, in their respective districts. People were sick of their shit. They took advantage of the entire country by doing this exact same thing; jumping in front of as many microphones as possible, like they were champions of the working class, or black people, in that instance.
Then, they pushed violence through Antifa, they pushed the extremism to a point where now, business owners have lost millions because of the laws the Leftists pushed, locally. They used the death of a black man to raise billions of dollars for BLM, who haven't done fuck all for anyone with that money. They pushed DEFUND and just look at the state of our police departments.
Now, here they are, Ayanna Pressley, AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, etc, again cosplaying 'Revolutionary Hero', and whipping up anger against OUR president, while the MSM, who are aggressively pushing the invasion of Gaza, seem to love giving the Squad lots of air time. Funny, init?
I do have a question. How many times are Americans going to allow themselves to be emotionally swept away by these very dangerous assets that Bernie Sanders brought into our government?

Irreversible Entanglements — Protect Your Light (Impulse!)
Tumblr media
youtube
Given their sense of history and commitment to consciousness raising music it is entirely appropriate that Irreversible Entanglements should sign to Impulse! The home of John & Alice Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders and many of the other artists in whose steps the band follows. Partially recorded in Rudy Van Gelder’s Englewood Cliffs studio, Irreversible Entanglements focus their power on Protect Your Light. The eight tracks are shorter than we’ve come to expect but more expansive in both style and instrumentation. Poet Camae Ayewa continues her dissection of racist structures and celebration of the transformative power of culture and community. Her delivery measured and deliberate, as if now, in these times, clarity of meaning and purpose are paramount. She and bassist Luke Stewart, drummer Tcheser Holmes, trumpeter Aquiles Navarro and saxophonist Keir Neuringer double up on synthesizers, percussion, studio effects and overdubs to broaden their sound. The addition of guest artists amplifies the band’s commitment to community. Fly or Die cellist Leslie St Lewis, composer/poet Janice Low and vocalist Sovie make telling contributions.
The highlights are many. When “Free Love” breaks into a joyful march, the horns exultant over a rolling rhythm and Ayewa’s voice overdubbed and tripping with excitement. Lowe’s piano, Holmes’ thunderous drumming and Navarro’s spiraling solo during Ayewa’s exploration of the racist, colonial roots of capitalism on “Our Land Back.” Luke Stewart’s “Soundness” is Irreversible Entanglements at their knottiest, coolly enunciated words ring clear over rattling percussion, double tracked bass lines and horns that dance and duel. A surface of multiplicities swirling from a singular oceanic source. “root⇔branch,” celebrates the joyous energy of the late jaimie branch’s genre fluid music with St Lewis’s cello motif opening before a squall of synthesizers and trumpet explode into the chant of “We can all be free.” Lowe leads the ballad “Sunshine,” her voice evoking Minnie Riperton with Navarro’s muted trumpet and Holmes’ brushed drums contrasting with a tempest of synthesizer effects.
Ayewa remains a powerfully charismatic voice but as she points out Irreversible Entanglements is a collective, a band who combine to produce music of extraordinary invention, power and delicacy. Protect Your Light takes its place alongside Fire Music, Karma, Interstellar Space and the many other vital records recorded by Van Gelder for Impulse! Although explicit in their acknowledgement of that legacy, Irreversible Entanglements are looking forward, stepping up from the shoulders of the giants to shape a body of work that demands attention.
