I firmly believe that Colin Robinson does remember the last year.
If I turned into a baby and my roommate changed my diapers for a year and then accidentally gave me daddy issues I would also pretend it didn't happen. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to look them in the eye ever again.
Besides, even though Colin Robinson had been Baby Colin for a year, he's not anymore. He still has his memories, but now he's 100 years Colin Robinson and 1 year Colin. Baby Colin is just a part of him, but not the core anymore, like it was for the past year. To himself, he's not Baby Colin anymore, he just has his memories.
And he can't be Baby Colin for Laszlo either (and I imagine doesn't want to be treated like a child either). I think giving Laszlo false hope would be more cruel. He needed to shut that shit down quick, so he did.

🫠 nothing ever changes, right?
Based on that one heartbreaking post by @immabitqueer
(ID in alt and under cut)
ID: 1. Freshly adult Colin Robinson, wearing a beige suit and sweater vest, sits on a couch in the foreground reading a newspaper titled “The Mundane Muser”. He hums interestedly as he reads, mouth pursing. Behind him is Laszlo sitting at his harpsichord, looking solemn and deep in thought as he taps out a few notes.
2. With a small mischievous smile, Colin pipes up, “Hey Laszlo, guess what?” Laszlo straightens in shock behind him, hands freezing above the keys as the memory of his son passes through his mind.
3. Laszlo slams his head down onto the harpsichord with a loud sob, creating a blaze of discordant sound from the keys. Colin half-turns in his seat to look his way with an irritated brow, lowering the newspaper slightly. Colin says, “Oh come on, I didn’t even start draining you yet.” /end ID

I'm curious what you guys think about Colin's secret room.
I've seen some posts that interpret its very existence as proof that Colin is lying to Laszlo. Because the room exists- it has his journals and his clothes, etc.- that Colin must have put it all there for himself to collect later on and that he's lying when he said he didn't know what his deal was an energy vampire...
but that's not how i interpreted that scene at all.
I think he and the house are connected somehow, like its his spawn point. the way he opened the room seemed otherworldly. hitting those spots didn't reveal buttons or anything. he just punched holes in the wall but they were finally the right ones. and it didn't reveal a simple door... a piece of the wall itself burst open spontaneously to reveal that wooden door. like the house is alive.
It's entirely possible that the house itself is something Other and Colin Robinson is connected to it. We don't know how those journals got there. What if he wasn't the one journaling? he assumed they were his because they were (presumably) in his writing but maybe the house itself was writing these journals as colin robinson lived them. Maybe those clothes are spawned by the house?? could the house itself have stored colin's life's memories and necessities deep in its bowels in preparation for his new cycle?
Just a thought. Could be dead wrong but this is wwdits. much weirder things are canon

Ok I think the main motif of the season 5 promo pics is supposed to be dreams/sleeping. From the simplistic nighttime aesthetic to the bedtime story-esque character promos they've been posting, and of course the icons they put with each character tying into dream meanings that line up pretty well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From what I can gather for dream meanings:
Colin Robinson, Glasses- needing a new perspective/to see things clearly (could tie into his whole loss of childhood memory thing but thats a bit of a stretch, i think his is more literal)
Laszlo, Lute- good news from a friend you love very much but is long gone (???? Could also be more literal but if not thats very concerning)
Nadja, Crystal Ball- looking within to find your true destiny/future (she is going back to her roots and longs for a sense of purpose...)
Nandor, Swords- power and authority, or a choice you must make that could lead to either good or very bad consequences. Changes meanings depending on one's character (he is very "could be amazing or go horribly wrong depending on what he chooses to do in a given situation" kind of character)
Guillermo, Telescope/Spyglass- seeing the bigger picture, adjusting focus, or desire for someone/something that may not be right for you (yeah that sums him up to a T)
The Guide, Crescent Moon- professional growth and an increase in recognition, or an unconscious pull towards something (SHE'S MOVING UP IN THE WORLD I'm so proud of her fr!)
That all raises the question: Why a dream motif? It could be that this season deals with crushed dreams (we know that might be the case for Guillermo but that was more true for the other characters last season), or maybe there's a plotline this season that deals with dreams in the more literal sense? Does the Guide's symbol being the moon have significance, in that she has the biggest arc of the season (please let her go either full villain or full main character by the end of the season)?? Or they just liked the aesthetic, who knows. But still, much to think about...

Not saying it's some kind of Groundbreaking Socially Transgressive Problematique Queer Art or anything but people making posts about "this new genre of wholesome gay love stories" and tagging them with #wwdits will never not be funny to me. The wholesome gay love story of Colin Robinson having memory dreams about Laszlo being his daddy a few days after they had sex while Colin's spirit occupied 1/2 of Nadja's body

Months have passed since Colin Robinson came back, missing his memories of the entire past year. Months have passed since Guillermo de la Cruz came back, achingly human, still.
Marwa and the Djinn return from their own voyages as well, their presence the Sword of Damocles hanging over Nandor's head. Why can he suddenly not look at Guillermo without being in immense pain ?
What is it that he forgot ?
Why can't he remember ?
While Fate moves its pawns across the chessboard, White Knights knocking over Black Bishops, slaughter staining the tiles red, he won't stop searching for answers, won't know peace until he's conquered his past again, until he can say—
Shahmat.
hello hiiii. I posted the first five chapters of that one human nandor-soulmate-thing fic i keep talking about!

My Peak TV Journey *What We Do in the Shadows*
I took notes while watching season five of What We Do in the Shadows hoping I’d be able to post something in a timely manner. By most people’s standards I haven’t, but by my own, maybe? I liked this season better than the fourth. I can’t honestly say if it’s because it was better, or I was just in a better place. In someways the seasons were interesting reflections in each other. Partially because of this, I think the series should wrap up next season.
One of my complaints about last season is that I got bored with the child version of Colin Robinson before the plot wrapped up. I missed adult Colin’s effect in the group and just wasn’t in the mood for a season long “the more things change, the more they stay the same” plot. While Colin was restored to his adult self with all the group dynamics that come with it (and no memory of the past year) there was the possibility of another “more things change, the more they stay the same” plot with Guillermo’s uneasy transition to being a vampire. But this time the act of restoring the status quo by making Guillermo a human again, has the potential to really change everything. Who is Guillermo if he no longer wants to be a vampire? How does he fit in with the group? Or does he reject it entirely.
Appropriately while Guillermo’s attempt to transition from human to vampire is stagnant, things between him and Nandor become more overtly romantic than in previous seasons. But this is with the added tension because Guillermo going to another vampire to be turned was the biggest betrayal he could do to Nandor. The climax where Nandor finds out after pretty much everyone else, and understands exactly why this transition hasn’t gone well the how to complete it has a sensitivity that is unexpected. And the fact that he can tell Guillermo ultimately doesn’t want to directly take human life, is tender.
The season saw more of Guillermo’s family than previous seasons, which made the reversion to his human state make more sense emotionally.  In his semi human/semi vampire state he sought help from Laszlo who proceeded to perform freaky experiments on him. They did not shed light on his condition, but they included some very freaky animal hybrids, (who I hope we see more of next season) and an opportunity for Laszlo to use Guillermo’s sweat as a vampire sun screen. Unrelated to Laszlo’s experiments, there was a scene where a shocked Guillermo trips booby traps that Colin Robinson set up through the house while Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” plays in the background. It was ridiculous. It made me happy.
Speaking of Laszlo, is it just me or was his screen time reduced this season? If so why? Was it to give Matt Berry a break for personal reasons? Was it a concerted decision to prevent the series form becoming The Laszlo Cravensworth Show? At the very, least he does not currently appear to be driving plot. In the previous two seasons he was aiding Colin Robinson in his respective end of life and beginning of life phases. Here he was helping Guillermo with his stalled transition. It could be a sign of Lazslo’s character being the friendliest of the bunch, but I doubt it.  None of these characters are exactly humane.
Following up Laszlo’s lack of driving plot, it’s worth noting how little he had to do with his lady wife Nadja this season. The plot in which they interacted the most involved him struggling to make a good impression on her new human friends from Little Antipaxos, where she enjoyed getting to know contemporary people from her homeland. He eventually, inadvertently convinces them that he is the the incarnation of a legendary, piggish figure. But their general lack of conflict and interaction also made a kind of sense for Nadja’s plot. In previous seasons she regularly railed against a cursed hat Laszlo had and refused to get rid of. Last season wrapped up the cursed hat story, and so this season had Nadja thinking she was hexed in her pre-vampire life. While curses definitely exist in the WWDITS world, the show starts the storyline explicitly saying that the events that led her to think she was cursed were really the result of how much inebriated blood she drank while running a club last season. The attempts to reverse the curse led her to Little Antipaxos,  teaching about citizenship in a community college, and getting scammed by a “magic woman” who really wanted her preferred Dunkin’ Donuts to serve her again. I enjoyed all of this.
I am glad that Colin Robinson is an adult again. I loved his short reunion with his energy vampire girlfriend Evie while running for political office. I also enjoyed seeing him as a waiter and how upset he got when the too interesting.
Finally, Kristen Schall’s Guide was bumped up to a regular character this season. I think she had a similar amount of screen time this season as last, but she did drive more plot. Notably, she gave Nadja the “clues” to “prove” that she was really cursed. This turned out to be a punishment for the ways in which Nadja ignored her as a potential female friend. As much as I like Nadja, I am one hundred percent Team The Guide in this conflict. The dynamics of the characters can be described as cliques within cliques. Nadja and Laszlo’s marriage is a clique. Laszlow’s, Nadja and Nandor are a clique as the classical vampires who have been living together. Guillermo is in a clique with the classical vampires against Colon as he can feed off of all of them and they hate him for that, etc. having the Guide, who’s always known they were detached from the world, but now recognizes them as her only option for long term companionship, is exactly the kind of situation for which this show exists.

Commented this on another post, but felt like making it it’s own thing because since the season finale for WWDITS I’ve been thinking about it. The end of season four made me kinda realize that, beneath all the wackiness and jokes and vampire stuff, this show’s central theme is really the cost of being evil. Cut through the metaphors and it’s a story about bad people and how they trap themselves in Hells of their own making.
The Vampires and Guillermo are wastrels. They’re assholes. They’re social parasites in both a literal sense (killing and feeding on people to sustain themselves) and a metaphorical sense (exploiting everyone around them for their own gain while giving nothing in return).
Nandor is hopelessly trapped in the past, pining for the glory days when he was a king and treating everyone around him like shit to try either to recapture the feeling or simply because he can’t get out of the “ancient conqueror” mindset. Nobody can stand him, and when he finally met somebody who could actually bear to be around him for more then five minutes — Guillermo — his response was to functionally make that person a slave. And he’d rather run off on walkabouts or chase after women he barely knows but imagined whimsical romances with then confront the uncomfortable feelings he has. The one time he works up the nerve to be genuinely nice to Guillermo, he chickens out and wipes it from the guy’s memory and goes right back to being miserly.
Nadja is flighty and lazy and greedy and insecure in equal measure. Always chasing some new scheme or business or project but never caring to put in the work necessary to actually achieve anything and dumping the consequences on others when she can. She wants everything but paradoxically can’t be bothered to do what she needs to do to get it, and can’t handle any sort of setback. She makes new vampires then just forgets about them, she wants to run councils but quits at the first sign of paperwork, she wants to start nightclubs but puts the bare minimum effort in and when it fails instantly resorts to burning it down. And of course she never gets what she wants as a result, and bemoans her fate and wonders why it ended that way.
Laszlo is a complete ass. Pompous, self-absorbed, rude, stubborn, and completely uncaring of the consequences of his actions. And he’s lonely and bored. He has no real friends or family other then Nadja and despite living a life of what should be blissful hedonism, none of it is as fun and fulfilling as it would be for anyone else because he can’t connect meaningfully with anybody. His assholery drives away anyone that isn’t either his equally disastrous wife or his brain-dead neighbor that he has nothing in common with. He gets the son he thought he’d never have, then blows it in such a way that once Colin is restored to normal, he doesn’t know or care about Laszlo raising him. And he can never get better because he’s so pigheaded that he’d rather suffer in silence then admit to being in the wrong, symbolized by how he obsessively clings to a cursed hat that constantly hurts him just to avoid admitting he was tricked.
Colin Robinson is a gluttonous, opportunistic little leech beneath his “boring office dude” persona. He treats everybody else as if they’re walking batteries for him to drain whenever and however he wishes. He crafted his entire life around being the most boring, unhappy person possible to feed and can never have an interesting or fun hobby because he feels need to bore people constantly. And resultantly when he needs emotional support or wants to genuinely let people know how he feels about them, they just instantly tune out. Real connections with other people are rare and usually just end with him even more alone.
Guillermo tries so hard to act the part of “lovable dork with his head on straight” but is really a selfish prick when he’s not too busy being a pathetic loser. He desperately pursues a goal — becoming a vampire — that’s a horrendous downgrade from his current life in every way imaginable and throws countless innocent people into the vampiric meat-grinder or debases himself in embarrassing ways to get it. He lets himself be used at every turn by the vampires despite being stronger then all of them combined and fully capable of physically forcing them to give him what he wants or just straight up killing them at anytime. He could be doing a million better things with his life but instead squanders himself on a pipe-dream despite seeing endless proof he will never get it and that it would suck if he did, and God help you if you point it out.
And the one thing they all have in common is being miserable, lonely, and trapped in ruts that just make them even more miserable and lonely. Nothing ever changes, and it certainly never improves. It doesn’t matter what they do to try and break the loop, they always end up back at square one because they don’t care to resolve the flaws keeping them trapped to begin with. They take over the local Vampiric Council but their lives barely change. Laszlo can leave for months to pretend to be a bartender in Pennsylvania and then he just goes back home and it’s like he never left. Nandor falls in love every other week but always ends up single and back in the manor in the same room. Colin arranges it so he’ll literally just reset back to normal everytime he reincarnates instead of becoming different. Guillermo finally comes out as gay to his family and it does little to improve his life — he’s still just a pitiful toady to a bunch of dipshits and they won’t let him have anything of his own. Nadja’s new jobs never work out and always fail to make anybody take her seriously. Even now in the latest finale with Guillermo saying he’s going to for things to change, they almost certainly won’t in any meaningful way; he’s still doing the same “trying to be a vampire” crap he’s been doing since he met Nandor, he’s just sucking up to a different vampire in a different way and even if works and he becomes one, what next? Most his life will probably change is swapping his bed in the manor for a coffin and switch to drinking blood instead of eating.
The only happiness any of them can find is outside that godforsaken mansion, but they’ll never leave and if they do they’ll always come back and get right back to normal. No healing, no upheavals, no improvements, no hugging, no learning.
Cut through the metaphor, and it’s just a show about five stupid assholes being walking trainwrecks in their decaying shithole of a house on Staten Island, only staying alive by taking advantage of anyone unlucky enough to enter the hazard zone. And they bring it all on themselves. Because that’s what it means to be a bad person; to never have any real joy in life, just misery as you chase after one hollow pursuit after another. And that’s what the show is about.

Expanding on this post I made yesterday a bit, I feel like memory - what we remember, how much we can trust our memories, and maybe even what we don’t remember too - is going to be a theme in this season. I mean, obviously there are only 2 episodes out right now, but you’ve got the Guide supposedly recovering repressed or erased memories, you’ve got Nandor being unable to remember who his favourite wife was, you’ve got the question of whether or not the child Colin Robinson has any of Colin Robinson’s memories... and that’s not even taking into account the popular fan theory that Nandor will end up accidentally wishing he never met Guillermo or never made him his familiar, or something like that, and erasing both their memories, at least, of the last... 12? 13? years.

Today, while I absently refresh Colin Robinson’s YT page (how long does “for a bit” MEAN, bud?), I am thinking about how WWDITS’s promo team is choosing to interact with fandom here...
I’ve been watching the show since it started, and while I didn’t join the fandom proper until s3, I don’t remember any online tie-ins this elaborate in previous years. This is practically a full ARG at this point. I can’t help but wonder if this is in direct response to the fandom blowing up over the last year.
To preface, idk if a lot of fandom has realized this, but major media corporations are fascinated by fandom (especially post-Hannibal, I’d say) and have been trying out a lot of schemes to artificially create fandoms, or at least guide the existing ones in ways they want. Like... let’s be real, if you can get a rabid fandom going, you’re going to have a lot of excellent and free advertising on your hands. Companies have gone from aggressively attacking fandom to politely ignoring it to curiously engaging it to actively encouraging it during my lifetime, and it’s been kind of wild to watch.
But... it’s hard to predict what’s going to have a fandom. It’s even harder to control that fandom once it’s going strong. And things can backfire.
Right now, with WWDITS, I keep coming back to the fact that most of the biggest reveals and hints on Colin’s channel wouldn’t make sense to us if not for the leaks. Colin leaving mysterious and somewhat ominous comments about “Freddie”? Colin dropping heavy hints about “Memories”? These are things that are driving the fandom nuts because we know who Freddie is. We know that Memories is the name of the finale. We Know. We’ve known for months.
And honestly, the whole leaks situation has been frustrating the hell out of me for the last six months. As someone who regularly signs media NDAs for work, it’s just felt rude and disrespectful (on the parts of the people leaking/posting leaks to SM) and unprofessional (on the parts of the people who allowed the leaks to happen) and it has kind of hampered my enjoyment of the lead-up to s4. Like... I have access to a lot of media full years before it comes out and I would never dream of telling fandom about it. That’s just so shitty to do to the creators. I’ve seen media creators’ whole lives torn apart because of things like that. It’s a hot-button issue for me. lmao
But this whole Colin Robinson thing is raising questions. I’m not sure if this was planned specifically for damage control, where they decided to lean into the fact that we know things that we’re not supposed to know and play with our expectations to drum up fan interaction (a huge metric for how shows get renewed these days) or if this has been planned since the filming of s4, when they realized that they had a very enthusiastic online fandom on their hands. And if it was planned during the early creation of s4, have they altered some of the things like Colin’s descriptions and comments to better suit what the fandom has dug up?
More importantly, this sort of raises questions about some of the leaks. Some of the leaks, particularly the early ones, feel like genuine leaks to me. (For several reasons I won’t get into rn.) But it’s possible that they even decided to lean into this debacle and start releasing some limited information themselves to get fans het up. It’s really hard to know...
idk idk, as someone who occasionally has to do publicity for creators and as someone who has had fun playing with media ARGs in the past, this whole thing is just fascinating to me. You gotta wonder how many people got hired and fired over this shit.
In conclusion, I thought this tweet was full of shit but now I kind of just want to have coffee with whatever poor asshole(s) have been running WWDITS’s social media campaign and ask some questions.

my initial wwdits thoughts, straight out the episode, not reading any meta or seeing any other opinions
Laszlo: heart is really broken, I know he was absolutely not the best father, and maybe there are some things better forgotten, but he truly and genuinely loved colin as a son and cherished the memories they had made together. I think they'll address this next season, hopefully, and maybe Colin will get his memories back and we will also learn more about energy vampires? anyway yeah my heart is beyond shattered over this one. Matt berry's singing voice is absolutely lovely here though and I loved the song for this episode (sunrise, sunset). probably gonna listen to it tonight and cry myself to sleep. my point stands that Laszlo is the most empathetic character in the series and it pains my heart. I REALLY hope we get emotional resolution because while everyone else moved on, Laszlo very clearly cannot
Nadja: I do think it is an absolutely poetic ending with everything Nadja stole and threatened burning up, while the hard work of others stayed intact. the blood sprinklers did their job, their actual function of sprinklers, and all of the club money was destroyed. she didn't even think far enough ahead to take out the fucking money she stole nearly every single night before torching the place. it's a funny parallel to Laszlo doing the same thing, but he did it for ultimately unselfish reasons (collecting insurance money to send the volleyball team to state) while Nadja's was only for greed, and if backfired SO spectacularly. it's both funny and sad. like she was going to essentially destroy the home of the guide and the wraiths as well?? where were they going to stay?? I genuinely do feel bad for her because nobody wants to see their girlboss girlhusband fail like that, but all of this is also so completely deserved. none of this had to happen, she failed of her own accord and because of her own greed and short-sightedness.
Guillermo: OH FUCK
seriously though, I had a feeling Guillermo was going to leave by the end. he was just holding out for Colin to finish his teen years and decide what to do. but I was NOT expecting the bribery though it makes so much sense I was screaming. genius Guillermo at it again (counterpoint however Derek might've done it for free lmao). we didn't see him give nandot a beating but you know what??? this would be so much better. becoming a vampire, something withheld from you for so long, for 13 YEARS; not only accomplishing your dream but getting to rub it in the face of the person who withheld it afterwards? I'm VERY interested to see how it plays out. I loved that cliffhanger actually, gives us a lot to chew on before next season
nandor: strangely fitting that he was barely a part of this episode?? his whole thing this season was this big dramatic buildup just to let it all go and stop caring, just go back to basically almost season one Nandor. while I was hoping for Guillermo to fucking stab him this episode, I absolutely believe he's got some SHIT coming next season. this episode was more about emotion and the sudden expectation that you'll just move on from something big and important (like Laszlo raising Colin Robinson only for Colin to forget everything) or be able to throw away your emotions when it stops being fun and convenient (nandor turning marwa into freddie and essentially throwing her/him away). I think next season we'll see a little more action. I'm kinda glad Nandor played such a small role in this episode because I want to punch him
Colin Robinson: I mean fucking hell there's so much to say, though I tried to cover a lot of it in the posts above so I can make this shorter lmao. I FUCKING CALLED THE HAMMERING HOLES IN THE WALLS BEING CONNECTED TO SOMETHING DEEPER so that's nice, that feels good. but the emotional toll this episode took on me... he just completely forgot everything. makes sense now that he couldn't really remember his childhood before the reincarnation, and it's funny that he described his father before as really outgoing and social (just like Laszlo) and his mother as boring and forgettable (I wouldn't describe Nadja as boring but baby/teenage Colin might seeing she was only interested in the night club)Edit:(his "mom" is Guillermo, pointed out by saxophonechihuahua, makes MUCH more sense, there you go). I think next season we will see how this affects his and Laszlo's relationship because there's no way you can raise someone from a helpless baby to a hyperactive but loveable toddler to a child star to a moody teenager to the exact same adult that you shared a house with for 80 years prior and just pretend that there's no parental relationship there. fucking WILD direction they took, but I think if they dig into it and we learn more about energy vampires, it'll really pay off
Overall: IN MY FEELS ABOUT IT ALL RIGHT FUCKING NOW. uncertain about the future, but overall I think I liked it. I'm not surprised about any of the cliffhangers, physical (Guillermo turning into a vampire) or emotional (Laszlo/Colin), I'm very much looking forward to season 5, and I'm ready to rewatch the episode with my roommates tonight

Taking into account that picture of the main 4 on New Years Eve in 1925, meaning that Colin Robinson was 4-5 years old in the picture
I have a headcanon that Colin is gonna come out as a baby from his goopy corpse and over the course of days/weeks/months or even a whole year (or two) Colin rapidly grows back into adult hood, which is a typical cycle for energy vampires
and invoking the rules from Fantasy High (in which a character is part phoenix), Colin has absolutely no memory of his previous life, but may be able to get back to some same degree by looking through the journals and posts of his old life.
HYPOTHETICALLY, saying all this would be true, this would be Colin's first or maybe only second rotation in a new body

What We Do in the Shadows Season 3 Prepares For Colin Robinson’s 100th Birthday
https://ift.tt/3AYGLgg
The liquid-diet trio at the center of What We Do in the Shadows will endure the tortures of endless conflict in season 3. Nandor the Relentless (Kayvan Novak) and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), will be taken to task by the entire Tri-State vampire community. Laszlo Cravensworth (Matt Berry) will pay, and dearly, for licentious driving.
For psychic vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), it’s another Wednesday, which some fellas in his office like to think of as Hump Day. What We Do in the Shadows is a series adaptation of the feature film created by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, and for the uninitiated, it is a mock-doc styled vampire reality show. The vampires’ familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), keeps things real for the human audience. Colin brings the vampires to ground.
The psychic or energy vampire’s food source is different from traditional vampires, who subsist on the life-giving fluid of living creatures. Colin drains the neurological system’s electromagnetic debris. Sometimes called prana or chi, it is very annoying and about as exciting as a mid-afternoon interoffice meeting.
“I think it’s a very relatable character and every office across the world has an energy vampire in it,” Mark Proksch said during FX Networks’ appearance at the 2021 Television Critics Association summer press tour. “I think it’s cathartic for a lot of people that are working in offices to see a manifestation, a character that embodies all the people they can’t stand in their office.”
An early trailer revealed the vampires from Staten Island now represent the Tri-State area in the Vampiric Council. WWDITS season 2 ended with the slaughter of almost everyone in a leadership position, so the seats had to be filled. The second rule of vampiric leadership is keeping asses in seats, the first being “don’t kill vampires,” so choosing these four might seem a grave clerical error. This is something far below the bloodsuckers’ pay grade, and obviously an HR problem. That Dilbert-looking guy in the basement apartment is the closest thing the newly appointed bureaucrats have to a human.

What We Do in the Shadows: Colin Robinson Steals Our Energy Through the TV
By Tony Sokol
“Colin Robinson is very happy to be the secretary and take the minutes, which is the most boring job in any organization,” WWDITS executive producer and writer Paul Simms told the TCA journalists. Nandor and Nadja differ on executive motions, but serve. Laszlo “did not become a vampire to be a paper pusher and doesn’t give a shit about official vampire organizations,” according to Simms. But he does spend a lot of time in the Vampiric Council’s library. While he is usually surfing ancient and archaic porn there, he also comes in very handy to Colin.
Colin spends a lot of time in the library during season 3. It is the largest repository of underworld wisdom in these and any other United States, with the accumulated wisdom of the greatest and most depraved minds history has ever seen. The library has whole floors of shelves filled with books and manuscripts on traditional vampires of every culture. It barely contains a pamphlet on alternative afterlifestyles.
“He’s kind of trying to figure out where he came from and where he’s going,” Proksch said. “And there just isn’t a heck of a lot of information about energy vampires. And so it’s kind of a fruitless journey. But I will say there’s a pretty huge twist for Colin Robinson in the final episode that plays off his hundredth-year birthday.”
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Colin will turn-over a century this season, but energy vampires rarely have happy birthdays. They’re not nearly as nutritious as more emotional celebrations, like funerals and disaster memorials held far too soon.
But for now, Colin Robinson is quite content celebrating “Hump Day.” Even though he’s more of a “what’s the rush to get over the hump” kind of guy. FX shared another Dear Diary teaser, filled with puns, the most exhausting of all the comic arts.
You can watch the season 3 preview here:
As Colin retreats into his reveries on “department meetings, cross-department meetings, sending emails to reschedule team meetings that interfere with department meetings,” the vampires of Staten Island, and their most familiar vampire hunter bodyguard, continue to Excel in their dark reign of humor on What We Do in the Shadows.
What We Do in the Shadows season 3 premieres Sept. 2, on FX.
