The Gala Reunion - Adam Fantilli
Tumblr media
summary: It's the first time after the break up you and Adam see each other...
The room was abuzz with the energy of a thousand butterflies flitting about, the air heavy with the scent of expensive perfumes and colognes. You had been invited by your friend, Kent, to attend the annual Columbus Blue Jackets team charity gala. As you scanned the crowd, you couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia wash over you.
It had been nearly five months since you and Adam had called it quits. Yet, there he was, standing across the room, his broad shoulders and familiar build instantly recognizable even from a distance. You had tried your best to move on, to forget the feelings that still lingered between you, but the sight of him was like a punch to the gut.
You clutched your flute of sparkling water a little tighter, willing your racing heart to slow down, as Adam turned his head in your direction. It was as if time stood still for a moment, as your eyes met across the room, and the memories of the laughter and love you once shared came flooding back. You both looked away quickly, each lost in your own thoughts, but the damage had been done. The air between you felt charged, electric, and you knew that sooner or later you would have to face each other, to confront the elephant in the room.
You felt a light touch on your arm, and turned to see Kent smiling warmly at you. "Hey, you alright?" he asked, his voice low and concerned. You forced a smile, nodding. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little surprised to see him here, that's all." Kent glanced over at Adam before looking back at you, his expression serious. "Look, if you want to talk, I'm here for you, okay? You know that." You felt a lump forming in your throat as you forced out a grateful, "Thanks, KJ."
You took a deep breath, steeling yourself for the inevitable confrontation, when you felt a hand on your free shoulder. Startled, you turned to see Adam standing beside you, his expression a mix of uncertainty and longing.
"Hey," he said softly, his voice barely audible above the din of the crowd. "I didn't know if I should come up to you or not, but I… I wanted to apologize."
You raised an eyebrow, feeling a strange combination of anger and hope flutter in your chest. "For what?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
"For how things ended," he replied, his gaze never leaving yours. "For not trying harder to make it work. For not being the person you deserved."
You felt a sting in your eyes at his words, but you refused to let them fall. "It's okay, Adam. We both made mistakes. I'm doing okay now, you know?"
He nodded, his expression softening. "I know. I'm glad to hear that. But I can't help but wonder… if maybe there's still something there. Something worth exploring." He took a step closer, his voice dropping even lower. "I miss you, you know? The way we used to be. The way we could just… be."
You swallowed hard, feeling your heart skip a beat. You looked away momentarily, taking in the crowd around you, trying to distance yourself from the intensity of Adam's words. But no matter how far you moved, you couldn't escape the feeling that he was right. There was something still there, something undeniable.
"I… I miss you too," you admitted, your voice barely audible even to yourself. "But it's complicated, Adam. We're both in different places now." You took a deep breath, steeling yourself against the ache in your chest. "I want to be able to trust you again. To know that if we try, you won't just walk away again."
His expression darkened, and he looked away for a moment before turning back to you. "I know that, and I understand. I can't blame you for feeling that way. But I want you to know that I'm serious this time. I want to work on us, on me. I want to be the man you deserve." He took another step closer, his eyes boring into yours. "Will you give me another chance? Just one more chance to prove myself?"
You felt your heart racing, your breath coming faster. A million thoughts swirled through your head, but one thing was clear: you couldn't deny the pull you still felt toward him. The way he looked at you now, the sincerity in his voice, it was hard to believe that this was the same man who had once broken your heart.
"Okay," you whispered, your voice barely audible even to yourself. "Okay, I'll give you one more chance." You paused, mustering up the courage to meet his gaze again. "But you have to promise me one thing."
He nodded eagerly, his expression hopeful. "What's that?"
You took a deep breath, your heart racing in anticipation of what you were about to say. "I need you to promise me that you won't just walk away again. No matter what happens, no matter how hard it gets, you can't leave me again." Your voice wavered, betraying the fear that still lingered deep inside you. "Because if you do, I don't think I could survive it a second time."
There was a long pause as Adam regarded you with an intensity that made your heart skip a beat. Finally, he took a step closer, cupping your face in his hands, and said, "I swear to you, I will never leave you again. Not now, not ever. I promise to be the man you deserve, the partner you can rely on. No matter what life throws at us, we'll face it together."
The weight of his words settled over you like a warm blanket, washing away some of the lingering fear and doubt. You couldn't help but believe him, couldn't help but feel the electricity between you as his thumbs traced your cheekbones.
"I want to make things right between us," he whispered, his breath warm against your skin. "I want us to find our way back to the way we were, to be better than we ever were." His gaze locked with yours, and for a moment, you could see the future unfolding before you. A future filled with late-night conversations and shared laughter, with adventures and misadventures and a love that only grew stronger with time.
As you stood there, lost in his eyes, it was hard to believe that only moments ago, you had been ready to turn your back on him forever. But something about the way he looked at you, the way he held you… it made you feel safe, made you believe that maybe this time, things could be different. Maybe this time, you could find the happiness you'd been searching for all along.
You couldn't help but smile, feeling a rush of emotion that threatened to overwhelm you. "Okay," you whispered, your voice barely audible even to yourself. "Okay, I'm in. Let's do this."
He smiled back, his eyes sparkling with hope and anticipation. "Thank you," he whispered, leaning in to kiss you softly on the lips. The touch of his lips sent a shiver down your spine, and for a moment, you could feel the familiar heat of his body against yours. It was like no time had passed at all.
As you stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, you could feel the weight of the world start to slip away. The fear and doubt that had been plaguing you for so long began to fade, replaced by a sense of calm and contentment. You knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but you also knew you weren't alone. You had Adam, and together, you could face anything.

Welcome to Columbus, Ohio. The year is 2092, every major city across what remains of America is a towering spire of concrete and steel. Highways choked with exhaust and the sounds of honking echoes throughout every hour of the day, providing a discordant background to your travel around the city.

Most of the year the world is cast in shadow by a heavy overcast, only rarely does the sun shine through, usually in the early morning. There are two main seasons: Rainy and Winter: The weather is usually grey and drizzling during the rainy season, and bitter and white during the winter. As such all the cities are surrounded by thick sheets of icy for half the year.

going to ohio state/reds/bengals games with foolish(as someone who lives in ohio i would loveee this😭), visiting each others hometowns, going to amusement parks together
Suree! Thanks for the request!
Going to visit Ohio with Foolish HC's!
Tumblr media
I have sure Foolish would buy for both of you those shirts or coats like this one he's wearing! Imagine taking pictures with matching shirts with him? He'd post them on Instagram and Twitter for sure <3
Going to museums, like the Columbus Museum of Art or to Cincinnati Museum Center (I saw some pictures and now I want to visit Ohio).
You both would go to the Cedar Point..... In my head, Noah is a little bit scared of heights and all those dangerous stuff, so you'd beg him to face his fear and go with you on the Steel Vengeance. "No, I can't. I'll die if I go, baby." He says and you laugh. "Don't be dramatic, love. Please, I'm begging you!" You look at your boyfriend with your puppy eyes to convince him, he sighs and look to the toy. "If I die, my mom will kill you." He says. "Don't worry, you won't die, my love." You say as you hug him with a big smile on your face, Noah hugs you back and you give him a peck on his lips.
You can say you never saw your boyfriend scream the way he did on this toy and you can say you laugh so hard you stomach is hurting.
Now, after the torture of the amusement park, Noah wanted something more chill, so he'd take you to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park so you two could do walking or cycling trails!
Going to Reds and Bengals games for suree! You'd have a great time watching it with him 🥺
Going to each others hometown for sure! Imagine him meeting your parents? They'd love him so so much! He'd laugh with your old bedroom, seeing all the posters of the bands you liked when you were a teenager:( and of course you'd visit his hometown too! He'd show you everything in his house and his family would love you so much!
I think Foolish is very close to his family, so they'd take you to a restaurant or maybe do a family meeting with his cousins, uncle's and other members of his family! Imagine how chaotic it'd be???
He'd take you to a fancy restaurant aswell, just the two of you so you can have a cute date <3
His mom would show you his childhood photos and you'd laugh so much 😭
He'd also pass a lot of time with your family and to be honest, he'd want to make your parents meet his parents so it'd three times more chaotic!!!@ Imagine a family meeting in the backyard with barbecue and beer? With like a lot of people? Yeah... But it'd be very nice! Everyone would have so much fun together!
Foolish is very proud of Ohio and he's very happy to have a girlfriend who's too! For sure if the both of you had plans to marry one day, he'd want to live in Ohio with you. Imagine you buying a house to live together??? So cute 😭
Of course you both would have a lot of pictures together after visiting Ohio, he'd post them all on Instagram with the cutest captions about you <3
Note: I want to visit Ohio now after the search I made to write this one 🥲
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy the writing! :)
Requests are open!

Granville T. Woods
Biography
(1856–1910)
Known as "African Edison," Granville Woods was an African American inventor who made key contributions to the development of the telephone, streetcar and more.
Who Was Granville T. Woods?
Granville T. Woods, born to free African Americans, held various engineering and industrial jobs before establishing a company to develop electrical apparatus. Known as "African Edison," he registered nearly 60 patents in his lifetime, including a telephone transmitter, a trolley wheel and the multiplex telegraph (over which he defeated a lawsuit by Thomas Edison).
Early Life
Born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 23, 1856, Woods received little schooling as a young man and, in his early teens, took up a variety of jobs, including as a railroad engineer in a railroad machine shop, as an engineer on a British ship, in a steel mill, and as a railroad worker. From 1876 to 1878, Woods lived in New York City, taking courses in engineering and electricity — a subject that he realized, early on, held the key to the future.
Back in Ohio in the summer of 1878, Woods was employed for eight months by the Springfield, Jackson and Pomeroy Railroad Company to work at the pumping stations and the shifting of cars in the city of Washington Court House, Ohio. He was then employed by the Dayton and Southeastern Railway Company as an engineer for 13 months.
During this period, while traveling between Washington Court House and Dayton, Woods began to form ideas for what would later be credited as his most important invention: the "inductor telegraph." He worked in the area until the spring of 1880 and then moved to Cincinnati.
Early Inventing Career
Living in Cincinnati, Woods eventually set up his own company to develop, manufacture and sell electrical apparatus, and in 1889, he filed his first patent for an improved steam boiler furnace. His later patents were mainly for electrical devices, including his second invention, an improved telephone transmitter.

William Hawkins was born in Kentucky on July 27, 1895, though he spent much of his adult life in and around Columbus, Ohio, where he first moved in 1916 to avoid a shotgun wedding. One of the most highly regarded African-American self-taught artists of the twentieth century, Hawkins worked tirelessly at numerous jobs—often simultaneously—ranging from breaking horses and running numbers to industrial steel casting and truck driving. He served in the Army in World War One, working burial details in France.
Hawkins began painting in the 1930s, though he only dedicated himself exclusively to art around 1979, when he was discovered by neighboring artist Lee Garrett, leading to national attention and what collectors generally describe as his mature period. Tending to paint with a single brush and semigloss enamels on large plywood and Masonite surfaces, he often worked from his own black-and-white photographs of buildings and animals, boldly articulating his unique, expressionistic interpretations of architectural form, religious subjects, and nature studies in bright color and broad, patterned brushstrokes.
By the time of his death in 1990, Hawkins had amassed a body of work comprising approximately 500 paintings and pencil drawings (not counting his lost early pieces), gradually turning toward human figuration in his final years. His highly personal visions of architecture and pop cultural themes are generally rendered in a restrained palette, sometimes including collaged found objects or images to designate depth and dimension in lieu of conventional perspective or detail.

Upon occasion a body must be exhumed or done so by accident. Some exhumations can reveal unusual finds and many famous people who were exhumed are documented by curious witnesses. There is quite a list of famous people who were exhumed for one reason or another. Some of them include:
Daniel Boone – He was buried in Missouri but when moved to Kentucky, they thought they might have the wrong body.
John Wilkes Booth – His body was warehoused until his family finally put him to rest in their area.
Al Capone – His body was moved.
Karen Carpenter – In Karen’s case, they wanted to move her to a new location.
Christopher Columbus – His body had been moved around and so there was some question about whether the remains were his or possibly mixed with another person.
Marie Curie – Her body was exhumed and moved to be put in a place of honor.
Sammy Davis Jr. – Sammy died almost bankrupt so his wife actually had him exhumed to get the 70,000 dollars worth of jewelry he was buried with.
Adolf Hitler – In 1970, remains believed to be his were turned over for cremation.
Benny Hill – Sadly, this beloved comedian was the victim of grave robbery.
Abraham Lincoln – Several people thought to try and steal his body. Eventually, they encased him in concrete.
Lee Harvey Oswald – With the permission of Oswald’s widow, Eddowes had the body exhumed in 1981 and dental records confirmed the man was not a Russian body double, but Oswald himself.
Elvis Presley – Buried in Memphis, he was moved because someone tried to steal his body. He was placed at Graceland
Jesse James – The infamous Wild West outlaw may have died in 1882, but his legend lived on as did persistent rumors that James faked his own death. In 1995, the James family requested the exhumation of their ancestor’s corpse from a Kearney, Missouri cemetery and DNA tests confirmed the remains were indeed those of the outlaw.
Eva Peron – Evita’s body was exhumed and moved to Madrid, where her husband lived in exile. Finally in 1974, her remains were returned to Buenos Aires and buried in a fortified crypt in La Recoleta Cemetery.
Abraham Lincoln – In 1876 a gang of Chicago counterfeiters hatched a scheme to snatch the slain president’s body from his tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, and hold the corpse for a ransom of $200,000 and the release of their best engraver from prison. After law enforcement officials thwarted the grave robbers in the middle of the crime, Lincoln’s body was quickly moved to various unmarked graves until it was eventually encased in a steel cage and entombed under 10 feet of concrete in the same Springfield cemetery in 1901.
Zachary Taylor – In 1991, Taylor became the first president to have his remains exhumed, and tests conclusively showed that he was not assassinated by poison.
Oliver Cromwell – King Charles II exhumed Cromwell’s body on the twelfth anniversary of his father’s execution and in retribution for the regicide staged an execution of his own.
Simon Bolivar – Twelve years after his death, Bolivar’s remains were exhumed from Santa Marta’s cathedral and transferred to Caracas, Venezuela. The testing by forensic specialists proved inconclusive as to the cause of Bolivar’s death.

September 11, 2023
NEW YORK (AP) — Americans are looking back on the horror and legacy of 9/11, gathering Monday at memorials, firehouses, city halls and elsewhere to observe the 22nd anniversary of the deadliest terror attack on U.S. soil.
Commemorations stretch from the attack sites — at New York’s World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania — to Alaska and beyond.
President Joe Biden is due at a ceremony on a military base in Anchorage.
His visit, en route to Washington, D.C., from a trip to India and Vietnam, is a reminder that the impact of 9/11 was felt in every corner of the nation, however remote.
The hijacked plane attacks claimed nearly 3,000 lives and reshaped American foreign policy and domestic fears.
"On that day, we were one country, one nation, one people, just like it should be. That was the feeling — that everyone came together and did what we could, where we were at, to try to help,” said Eddie Ferguson, the fire-rescue chief in Virginia’s Goochland County.
It’s more than 100 miles (160 kilometers) from the Pentagon and more than three times as far from New York.
But a sense of connection is enshrined in a local memorial incorporating steel from the World Trade Center’s destroyed twin towers.
The predominantly rural county of 25,000 people holds not just one but two anniversary commemorations: a morning service focused on first responders and an evening ceremony honoring all the victims.
Other communities across the country pay tribute with moments of silence, tolling bells, candlelight vigils and other activities.
Tumblr media
In Columbus, Indiana, 911 dispatchers broadcast a remembrance message to police, fire and EMS radios throughout the 50,000-person city, which also holds a public memorial ceremony.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts raise and lower the flag at a commemoration in Fenton, Missouri, where a “Heroes Memorial” includes a piece of World Trade Center steel and a plaque honoring 9/11 victim Jessica Leigh Sachs.
Some of her relatives live in the St. Louis suburb of 4,000 residents.
“We’re just a little bitty community,” said Mayor Joe Maurath, "but it’s important for us to continue to remember these events. Not just 9/11, but all of the events that make us free.”
New Jersey’s Monmouth County, which was home to some 9/11 victims, made Sept. 11 a holiday this year for county employees so they could attend commemorations.
Tumblr media
As another way of marking the anniversary, many Americans do volunteer work on what Congress has designated both Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
At ground zero, Vice President Kamala Harris is due to join the ceremony on the National September 11 Memorial & Museum plaza.
The event will not feature remarks from political figures, instead giving the podium to victims’ relatives for an hourslong reading of the names of the dead.
James Giaccone signed up to read again this year in memory of his brother, Joseph Giaccone, 43. The family attends the ceremony every year to hear Joseph’s name.
“If their name is spoken out loud, they don’t disappear,” James Giaccone said in a recent interview.
The commemoration is crucial to him.
“I hope I never see the day when they minimize this,” he said. “It’s a day that changed history.”
Tumblr media
Biden, a Democrat, will be the first president to commemorate Sept. 11 in Alaska, or anywhere in the western U.S.
He and his predecessors have gone to one or another of the attack sites in most years, though Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Barack Obama each marked the anniversary on the White House lawn at times.
Obama followed one of those observances by recognizing the military with a visit to Fort Meade in Maryland.
First lady Jill Biden is due to lay a wreath at the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon.
In Pennsylvania, where one of the hijacked jets crashed after passengers tried to storm the cockpit, a remembrance and wreath-laying is scheduled at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Stoystown operated by the National Park Service.
Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, is expected to attend the ceremony.
The memorial site will offer a new educational video, virtual tour and other materials for teachers to use in classrooms.
Educators with a total of more than 10,000 students have registered for access to the free “National Day of Learning” program, which will be available through the fall, organizers say.
“We need to get the word out to the next generation,” said memorial spokesperson Katherine Hostetler, a National Park Service ranger.
