mobius' character development from big picture to selfish (as a foil to loki) // loki s2e6 spoilers
As a secondary character, we don’t usually get to investigate mobius’ motivations fully— from the start especially in s1 his whole drive is for the “greater good,” even as his understanding of the greater good changes (apart from following loki around like a puppy)
In the time theater we finally got a more personal reason why— he had to learn to prioritize the big picture above all else through his own story with the 8 year old because he’s seen and experienced the consequences firsthand. and this as the heart of his drive is part of what makes him a great agent-- his singlemindness
But at the “what the shit are you doing” lapel grab, loki said “trust me” and mobius replied “no.” And this clearly isn’t because mobius doesn’t actually trust loki (if you don’t think they trust each other, we have been watching two different shows hello???)
The following lines, loki’s “i know what i’m doing,” and mobius’ reply “no!” cannot be because mobius doesn’t actually think loki doesn’t know what he’s doing. it’s a denial. Loki up until this point has proven that he knows exactly what he’s doing, and that’s the scary part
But mobius doesn’t stop loki out of concern for “the greater good,” either. We see him consciously make the choice to pull loki in. Why? It’s a fear response. Because in this moment of imminent life-or-death, mobius is finally, selfishly allowing himself to cling to loki
It’s in part because he (rightfully so, as we uhhhh see later) does not trust loki’s sense of self-preservation, that loki is not about to do something rash. Which is part of why loki remains so calm. We know that he’s seen mobius do this (and let him!) countless times— he remains calm and reassuring to give mobius a sense of stability and comfort
So as loki is zooming out and approaching self-sacrificial glorious purpose, mobius is learning how to be selfish. which is oddly enough not only more like loki, but sylvie too— after all, they’re the two at the blast doors crying for loki to prioritize himself over the greater good, even though both of their motivations until now have been much more big-picture
(i could probably get into how mobius and sylvie are the same in this respect, and how it works for mobius while sylvie falls flat, but that's for another time)
In the end, mobius returns to his timeline because in learning selfishness, he’s trying to "go "return" to what he thinks he wants. He’s unfulfilled watching don because he realizes that a quiet, divorced life (alone) with his kids is not actually what mobius wants.
What does mobius want? Well, it’s not about what, it’s about who

ello mera,
I wanted to ask how you post your comics online because i was thinking about making my own web comic series but i dont know where to start hehe
I think the website you used for IBWR was called Hiveworks but im not to sure how it works...
Also if you have any other tips when it comes to making comics like time management, planning, or even how draw those gorgeous backgrounds, it would be much appreciated :D
Thank you for your time ヾ(•ω•`)o ✧.*
Sure thing buckaroo, get in the backseat and let's hit the comic road!
ヾ(•`ω´•)o ✧.*
this is all from my perspective though, some stuff may not work for you, but hey - no knowledge is bad knowledge.
Hiveworks is a... Publisher! of sorts! Kind of. They're not like webtoons or Tapas when it comes to comic hosting, you have to be invited to Hiveworks (like me!) or apply to join them! :) They also have Hivemill which is a place where they sell merch for the comics. Either Hiveworks helped making the merch, or the artists themselves made the stuff and Hiveworks helps distribute it (I THINK, don't quote me on that. I haven't made or sold merch with them before. But it's what I understand. They have explained it to me, I'm just kinda dumb).
However! Comic control, of which Hiveworks uses to make the websites are free for anyone to use! :) So if you want your own website, go ahead and make one!
I'd still recommend you buy the URL you'll use in that case though. I pay a yearly fee on GoDaddy.com for mine. It's affordable and honestly worth it as a precaution, lest a dirtbag buy it just to ruin my day and give me distress for a year(s).
But my recommendation is that you mirror your comic in as many places as possible.
Now, my website has ads on it, so if you switch off ad-block when visiting IBWR, I can get ad rev from it! :D (thanks to Hiveworks, that is, they added the ad stuff on there. Idk how it works but it's nice passive income that I really need. It pays for my food).
That means I will prioritize the website over the secondary mirrored places. So that's the place I always link to first. So if people REALLY want to get the next page sooner, they can always check there first.
However, mirroring is great because it is very difficult to get people to read the story you've put so much love into. I want people to enjoy my story as much as I do. The more places you update it to, the more people will discover you.
I've noticed that people like to follow the artist/author on social media for update announcements and general news of what's going on for the comic - so know where your presence on socmed is at! If it's instagram, well, then prioritize instagram but don't forget bluesky or tumblr too! Just know where you're at.
BUT!! And I cannot stress (lol) this enough - but don't stress (lol) about it. which is easier said than done.
It can feel super overwhelming to constantly make each update of a page feel like a check list of "okay, posted announcement to insta, tumblr, twitter, I have scheduled a mirrored post to comicfury and tumblr, I have added all the links in the author section, uuuh, I gotta add a cropped panel sneak-peak in each and I gotta--" that shit gets tiring quick. Work smart not hard. I copy paste from a document and I print-screen crop a panel from my comic on my phone kind of flimsily and that works. Nobody cares if it's fancy. It's just extra energy on my part that I can't be arsed to worry about.
Like Webtoons require that you to always have a preview icon for each update. That's as complicated as I'm willing to get tbh. If it requires more than that from me I'm gonna hate it. But that's just me.
you want to be able to do something consistently.
Which brings me to..
MANAGEMENT
bro, it's a job. It takes work. Work is not always fun, but you gotta show up for it. you're the only worker here. If you don't show up, it doesn't get done.
And people are not going to read it until there's at least pages enough for them to catch on to a story. If you're here for recognition right away, stop. You'll hurt yourself. I know we live in a time of quick-positive feedback through likes and shares, etc. But that's just not reality most of the time when starting up.
So, you got to want to tell the story more than whatever you are expecting to get out of this.
Which will also help you with managing your feelings if your reader count grows or declines. Just remind yourself of why you even want to tell your stories. It's easier said than done, but I found it to be a helpful philosophy to try stick by.
Everything I gain from sharing my story is just a plus. Not the reason.
What I did, also, was to just post whenever I finished a page. I had no readers, only commitment to myself and the comic. That's it. You'll find it easier if you don't force yourself at first, at least I did. And then as you gain your own momentum and work-pace, you'll be able to be like "Oh yeah, sunday works for me. I'll aim for that." Aim for it, don't promise. But show up. You're not a machine, shit happens, life comes in. If you have a deadline that makes you feel guilty, you might start avoiding it etc. So maybe just cut yourself some slack and go "whenever I'm done with a page is a good day."
You are your own boss. You make your own rules.
Yes, there is an algorithm to it all - when's the best time to post, getting new readers through memes or what have you. You might discover that the best way for you to get readers is to make funny videoclips on instagram or tiktok - there is no wrong way.
However, it shouldn't feel like too much of a chore. You should enjoy it at least a little bit. Like, maybe you kinda like making goofy vids of your comic, or draw memes, whatever, right? But you should enjoy some of it. If you hate making vids, but you know it is a good pond to fish in.. well, like... I'm sorry but you're gonna get frustrated with it.
I like posting THANK YOU FOR READING doodles of my characters on instagram stories! :D <3 I like that! That's not too much trouble for me.
BE CRINGE, BE FREE.
who gives a shit.
enjoy yourself you goofy ass little comic artist. Blast your story everywhere, be proud, have fun. People enjoy having fun, they usually want to join in with the fun.
If you have fun, others have fun being with you.
DRAWING COMICS
dawg I wish I had any better tips than... Fuck it, poke at it however you want.
I usually have ten pages flimsily sketched out with speech-dialogues so I know what's gonna happen in the next pages, so I can pace the scene somewhat.
I say that, like I'm some kinda professional, but I jump between pages. Whichever page seems a little more fun. Sometimes I stare myself blind on a page and gotta draw on something else.
Some pages are super well sketched, others are just bald stickfigures making faces at other bald stickfigures.
BACKGROUNDS
Get references. Either look at photographs or take the yourself. Start getting into looking at buildings in real life. I, myself, spend quite a lot of time looking at different windows and brick buildings going "Dang, so that's a widow huh? Architects sure just make windows like BAM ENJOY THIS ONE huh?"
Basically, start appreciating the world around you. There's art everywhere. Someone has put thought - however big or small - into that sidewalk.
Is it a shitty sidewalk? Well, that's really grounding isn't it? Someone, at some point, looked at this space, sighed and thought "fuck man I just wanna go home. That's good enough." and that really grounds you visually into that this world is a place where people have been before you.
Sometimes I get lazy and at the same time in a mood to challenge my memory, and I'll start inventing what the heck a building or street looks like. And you can probably easily tell in a page when I, too, am going "fuck man I just wanna get this page done with, that's good enough."
AND THAT'S FINE!!!
Not everything have to be an awestriking master page! Damn, the pressure I'd be under if that's the only thing I had to produce asdfghj! if anything, great pages look better because some pages are shite.
It's okay.
It doesn't have to be perfect every time. Learn what didn't work, what worked. Post it. Move on. You can't sit on this forever or the story will never be told. Just post it, it's fine.
THERE IS NO PERFECT TIME TO POST YOUR STORY.
Post it in chunks or page by page. It doesn't really matter - new readers are going to read it all in one sitting anyway.
-------
I think that's all I can think of for now??
Hope that helped!
Oh also I have this side blog I've been neglecting a bit, but feel free to check that out: @comicartistcentral

5 minutes with... TEDxBrighton's Laurence Rickard [x]
8 Oct 2015
TEDxBrighton caught up with this year's host Laurence Rickard. Larry (as he would prefer you all to call him) is a BAFTA-winning comedy writer and actor, probably best known for his work on the hit BBC sketch show Horrible Histories and the Sky 1 fantasy comedy Yonderland.
What are you doing right now?
I'm on a train, which is where I spend a fair proportion of my life. I find I get huge amounts of work done on trains, because I can't procrastinate by making a sandwich or going for a walk... Well, not for a very long walk anyway. Though answering these questions means I'm not doing the re-write that I've promised my producer. If she shouts at me, I'm going to give her your number.
What was your first thought when invited to host this year’s event?
Honestly? I was worried that I'd taken on something I wouldn't have time to do. But then I feel that when I agree to do most things. It'll be fine. I just like to worry.
You’re undoubtedly extremely busy this year with your writing and acting, and also with the release of your first film, Bill. With this in mind, what persuaded you to add this role to your already crammed to do list?
I went to school with Sam, one of the organisers, so he probably has quite a lot of dirt on me. I thought it best not to cross him, in case he had a copy of that demo my band did when I was 15. I wouldn't want that getting out. Also, it's TED, isn't it. It's an institution. I felt very privileged to have been asked.
This year’s conference is about losing control. When was the last time you lost control and why?
Well, I'm five days away from the release of a film right now (it's called Bill and it's in cinemas on September 18th – you should definitely go and see it), so I'm probably running on slightly heightened levels of anxiety and reduced levels of sleep. I'm not sure I'd say I've 'lost control' at any point, but there's been a few moments where I've raised my voice a bit, which is very rare for me. That's a very British answer isn't it? You ask when I lost control and I tell you the last time I raised my voice. Hardly a thundering maelstrom – I don't think it'll make the papers.
TEDx is all about sharing inspiring concepts and ideas. Who has been your biggest inspiration and why?
Probably my drama and English teacher at secondary school. He was always so supportive and encouraging. On reflection he was quite anti-establishment – he would give you a thousand merit points for a piece of writing, which both bolstered your self-confidence and made a complete mockery of the 'merit point' system. That was him all over. I was quite shruggy-shoulders about most of my school life, but I looked forward to his lessons so much. He encouraged me to write and act, and now I write and act – if that's not an inspiration, I don't know what is.
If you were asked to deliver a TED talk, what would you like to talk about and who would you most like to deliver your talk to?
I'd probably talk to young people about the celebration of celebrity. I worry that there's a generation who are, in many ways, being robbed of inspiration, and I don't think that's fair on them. People who, in a world of Geordie Shore and vlogs about making a nice breakfast, think that 'being a celebrity' is a goal to strive towards. Not trying to learn a skill or an art or hone a talent, but wanting to get 'rich and famous' by doing something that, in essence, pretty much anyone could do. You just want them to find that thing – whether it's bricklaying or mastering the violin – that enthuses and inspires them beyond the desire to one day have 2 million Twitter followers. Making sure that the world's best UN Secretary General doesn't end up never existing because they became the next Joey Essex instead.
As a born and bred resident of Brighton and Hove, what do you love most about this city?
I like its size. It's a walkable city. I lived in that London for a bit, and people travel for two hours just to meet up for a beer. That seems mad to me. And I like that Brighton is, on the whole, tolerant, liberal and diverse. I don't like that big spike they've put by the West Pier though. I just don't get it – we are a city of vibrant streets, not striking skylines. The view in one direction will just be roofs, and the other will just be just water. I never really got the thrill of looking at stuff from a bit higher up.
If you could take just one book, film and album on holiday this year, which would you take?
The film please.
What do you think events like TEDx offer to audiences?
Tickets I'd imagine. That would be the model I'd adopt. It's simplest in terms of seating etc. Plus the revenue would help to cover production costs. It's certainly worth looking into.
If you could pick a theme for next year's conference what theme would you most like to explore and why?
Special Effects Techniques in the Original Star Wars Trilogy. It's the only thing I can speak about with any authority.

Where to Find Me
Date Created: 7/20/2023 Last Update: 9/1/2023
Edit on 9/1/2023: Added a link to my personal website to the Fanworks section as well, since my fanfic can be found there.
Edit on 8/7/2023: Added a second website that's for archiving fanworks and other stuff I like to 'My Websites'.
EDIT on 7/21/2023: The @ symbol was automatically redirecting (or attempting to redirect) the second part of the pillowfort, dreamwidth, and cohost urls to tumblr accounts, so I got rid of these in all the links.
NOTE: I HAVE STOPPED REGULARLY CHECKING TUMBLR.
The interface of this site has become nearly intolerable for me, and it's become clear to me over the intervening years that Mullenweg is committed to making it progressively worse. So if you've wondered if the reason I've stopped commenting on your posts has anything to do with you, let me assure you, it's not. It's not you. It's not me, either. It's Tumblr. I logged out like maybe a week ago? And it's been amazing? I can live my life again? Miss you all, though.
So anyone who knows me (or has looked through this blog carefully enough) knows I haven't been on here since 2018. But it's been a few years, so now it's time to update my 'Where to Find Me' post! Since there have been several notable changes, and because I wanted to change how this post was structured a bit, it felt easier to me to just make a new post rather than editing the old.
My Websites
Unspeakablehorror's Site - I'll be keeping copies of my fanfic here, recipes, assorted essays, and other things of interest to me here. I will also archive select works from others on this site (with the creator's permission).
New Old Web - This is my website where I talk about how the web is crashing and burning and think about how we can make it not crash and burn. I'm still building it up, but I hope I can add lots more thoughts here.
Main Social Media
I currently feel that I use Pillowfort the most and Dreamwidth the second most. Something my main social media sites both have in common? They don't take venture capital. They're also great for longform writing and conversations.
unspeakablehorror at Pillowfort - Like if Tumblr and LiveJournal had a baby. I love the way this site handles commenting, reblogs, post edits, and privacy. And I love the communities feature. I'm the mod of 3 different Star Wars comms on here: Andor, Sith Empire, and Star Wars-The Sacred Texts.
unspeakablehorror at Dreamwidth - LiveJournal but better. Interface is a bit retro but I absolutely love the tag cloud. Every social media should have tag clouds. Dreamwidth has so many customization features. Also this site has my favorite setup for privacy options. And I love the communities feature on here. I'm the mod of the Sith of Korriban comm here.
Secondary Social Media
unspeakablehorror at Mastodon (fandom.ink instance) - I am on Mastodon, too, which is similar to Twitter with respect to the character count limitations, but has many exciting ideas, like using a protocol for social media that allows accounts on different servers to seamlessly interact with each other (as long as the server isn’t blocked for incompatible rules). It also incorporates the idea of decentralization in a very intriguing way and is entirely non-profit.
unspeakablehorror at cohost.org - Yeah, I'm here too. I don't currently use this account as much, but I do check the site from time to time and I've made a few posts here. I'd be here more often if any of my friends used this platform, but I don't prefer the interface, which is too much like Tumblr for my taste. Basically this is Tumblr if the interface wasn't total garbage, lol. I think I clash with some of the core principles of this site somewhat, and the only way to delete your page is by emailing the site owners, but at least it doesn't have ads or take venture capital. This site is what happens when some furries with coding and design skills are given a bunch of $$$ to make a social media site.
You can also PM me if you want to inquire about other ways to contact me or discuss anything else. I might be a little slow to answer Tumblr PMs, but I'll try to log in from time to time to check for them. Hopefully Tumblr doesn't end up breaking that, too, lol.
Fanworks
I am actually in the process of decentralizing my fic storage! Currently using a combination of social media posts for my oneshots and external storage links to store pdfs and epubs of my longfic. These can be found by examining my 'About me' in my bio on Pillowfort and my profile on Dreamwidth. My eventual goal is to also have my own website to store my fic on.
Unspeakablehorror's Site - I'll be keeping copies of my fanfic here, among other things.
Fanfic on Pillowfort - Access all my fic from Pillowfort!
Fanfic on Dreamwidth - Access all my fic from Dreamwidth!
unspeakablehorror at AO3 - Ah, I hope AO3 can work out their, uh, severe organizational issues, but in the meantime, I'm uncertain how much presence I'm going to have on this site.
unspeakablehorror at ffnet - This site is awful. The ads alone cause me psychological damage. Probably going to have to phase out posting here.
Well, that's all. Time for me to take my leave of this ball pit!

So, I have a stalker.
This psycho who on here uses @darkeningsea has been stalking me on social media possibly for years. I'm only posting this here, because I need people to be aware of this situation and be wary of her. I knew her very briefly from 2004-2006 where she created a host of problems for me and my friends. There was never any reason for it except envy. Somewhere along the way she lost a dramatic amount of weight, dyed her hair black, and started trying to be me. I was unaware of any of this until Monday afternoon an acquaintance from the Final Fantasy XVI fandom asked if I had a secondary Twitter or Bluesky account. She has been for months copying and pasting my tweets as if they are her own. I don’t post anything relevant. It was gaming stuff, some fashion tweets, and me debating what to DoorDash. All of my friends and mutual followers were blocked by her. She was very aware of me realizing what she was doing and rapidly changed her usernames and locked down or deleted her social media. Known aliases are neareststars, enthroned, darkeningsea, villains, robotkitteh, sketchvillain--she likely has other burner accounts that she uses to stalk me. She patronizes small indie fashion and jewelry brands I support, she’s been quietly skin walking me possibly since 2004. Her whole online identity is like some bizarre bargain basement cosplay of me. This isn’t some drama between 19 year olds. This is a 39 year old who frankly is unhinged and possibly dangerous. If I end up murdered she did it. I’m looking into any legal recourse but please be aware of this person. She used to go by Kitty. Now she goes by Al. Her real name is Heather. I never expected this to happen and I’m kind of torn between anger, amusement, and just feeling gross and kind of not okay.

Always Always Audiences
When I first got tumblr in 2013 I sat on the couch for ages copying and pasting html into my custom blog theme to make the cursor sparkle and shit. I do miss the sparkly cursor - note to self get that to come back that was sick as hell. Anyway, then I spent a couple years reblogging pictures and re-theming my blog 600 times because I was obsessed with making it look different ways. Then in school I had some kind of studyblr era and that was my brief taste of fame when I got like 50 reblogs on something.
I never really connected with tumblr because it didn't really feel like I could talk to people on there. Given that twitter was right there and a much more fast-paced place to be a fan of stuff (youtube anime kpop et Ce.Te.Ra) I didn't really need to get into tumblr so I didn't. But it always haunted me.......something about the blog was so compelling. In the 2000s my dad had some kind of blog for family and friends and other people he knew of less importance than that and he has one from 2009 about joining Facebook that's really well lodged in my brain.
It's just in a word document. He just emailed me it. I dunno where it was originally (some esoteric meaning to a "page"). He just talks about friending people and how economics means he should get it because people will no longer use e-mail if there's a time-cheaper method of communication. And it has that early(ish) internet thing of being completely free of the post-www post-ironic metaverse cookies screentime CONTENT shortformvideocontent quadruplespeak of the perpetual Now. We all know about the nostalgia trends and it's not necessarily a huge leap of the imagination to intuit the reason they're so successful in all the turbulence. Rian Phin (love) has a great video about how nostalgia imagines a past that never and cannot exist in order to provide safety and certainty (among other things, again. Love) ¹ (gonna footnote things like my dad did with zero formatting).
I love a video essay, and when I watch them I don't think "wow this person likes hearing themself talk" but why would I make a Youtube Channel or something if I didn't think I had something people wanted to hear? For some reason I can't see social media as a place of Hobby Exploration or interest curation the way it's so often talked about. Once the numbers got involved that's just what it was about, no? I have always been aware of the audience watching over my shoulder when I've posted anywhere, and only recently for instagram have I stopped kind of keeping an eye on the numbers. But, I like many others am obsessed with pinterest because it's "the media without the social". Of course it's designed to keep you on it as long as possible etc etc but it doesn't feel like the same echo chamber of a million people's thoughts all at once that frankly makes me think of that tweet (ironically) that gets re-done every 6mo that goes "we was not meant to know this many people existed let alone they thoughts" and you're not being WATCHED.
Zhao et al describe social media as an asynchronous exhibit of identity dissimilar to a synchronous performance² and I wonder if that's why it feels so lifeless. The idea that your instagram represents your identity might technically be true unless you post randomly generated images, but it's all wrong. It's not like fashion where the interaction with the living body comprises the meaning of it, it doesn't move or change and arrests some version of you that you can never be satisfied with because it doesn't evolve. It's like posting all your shit drafts of an essay and never posting the actual thing. Even fashion I have issues with because the marketing side of it makes me feel a bit evil. [Honestly in writing this realising that forms of secondary expression (style, pinterest boards as much as I Love them, interior design) really don't feel as real to me as primary expression (making art, sewing, stuff like that.)]
Truly I think I'm just against the "like". We should only be able to comment and talk to each other. Because what even is a like? I've seen people on instagram saying they "feel bad" liking posts spreading information about political evils because they don't "like" that they're happening. That's not even what a like is, surely? It's just an insidious measure of nothing that has made the completely insane beautiful singularity of the Internet be utterly inaccessible to me. The blog is so compelling because it feels (or felt back then) like the true form of Internet, the global forum that was promised where you could take real actions from real life and put them somewhere that wasn't real. So I guess the point of this is to do that and just send it into the void. To try and recover some interest in whatever social media was meant to be? To interact in a different way? Something like that.
As my dad said in 2009
"As with much that has appeared on this page, many brighter, more dedicated people with time and energy to research the matter carefully have written on this subject. However, let that not hold us back. We can, and should, pontificate on anything."

381/ Actress - LXXXVIII (2023) this conjures something in me that i havent quite felt since discovering flylo. dusty.
---
382/ Ametsub - Mbira Lights 1 (2017) absolutely beautiful timbres of mbiras, awash in some beats that are more 808 tail than hihat. it's a really good combo. honestly its strongest at its opening with "Mbr / Northbound" but it touches on several flavors that are delightful
---
383/ Towa Tei - TOUCH (2023) holy BASS, "HOLD ON!" is rubbing me the RIGHT way. "BEAUTIFUL" secondary highlight for dat groove
---
384/ Future Sounds of London - Environment 7.003 (2023) i feel like ive rly slept on fsol. this is dusty like old concrete. decreptid source engine ass music (affectionate) "Overwrite"… "Trichome". i guess youll know what im saying if you know what im saying.
---
385/ Pentagrams Of Discordia - Deprogrammed (2023) this was presented to me as "like boc". and it's true. it really captures the timbre of boc. but somehow it doesn't… envelop me? its just alrite. idk :\
----
386/ Full Bloom - Time Zones (2023) jazz. dubby. sexy. feels at home with oldschool ninja tune. also fun that it almost dives into fusion at times, i.e. with "Saw"
---
387/ DJH & sv1 - voids (2022) yeah this is good and all but. "teal lacy" is beyond words. shiny nostalgia specifically for me. "femto" also to a similar degree but. teal lacy…….
---
388/ Tha Trickaz - Cloud City (2017) some p nice wob stuff! it doesn't 100% click with me but: "OG Purp" & "I'm Back" got some fun screechy stuff. "Hood Bodega" is like 2013 but top notch
---
389/ I Awake - Zenith (2017) psychill, i believe it's called? a delicious chill to keep me company in work.
---
390/ Miguel Atwood-Ferguson - Les Jardins Mystiques Vol. 1 (2023) this one's a little outside my perview i think, but it's brainfeeder so i gotta at least take a look. and… yeah it's not quite my jam sorry. "Porpita" quite lovely tho!
---
391/ VA - Speeding Towards Adventures (2017) grab bag etc there is exactly one song that I must shower with love: "Chemical Fusion"! it's jfusion but with its own identity! it's rly rly good!! that said, "Gotta Start from Somewhere" also deserves a shoutout as a banger opening

A U.S. security researcher is warning of a chilling effect after he was detained on arrival at a U.S. airport, his phone was searched, and was ordered to testify to a grand jury, only to have prosecutors reverse course and drop the investigation later. On Wednesday, Sam Curry, a security engineer at blockchain technology company Yuga Labs, said in a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, that he was taken into secondary inspection by U.S. federal agents on September 15 after returning from a trip to Japan. Curry said agents with the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) unit and the Department of Homeland Security questioned him at Dulles International Airport in Washington DC about a “high profile phishing campaign,” searched his unlocked phone, and served him with a grand jury subpoena to testify in New York the week after. According to a photo of the subpoena that Curry posted, the grand jury was investigating wire fraud and money laundering. But Curry said he later received confirmation that the copy of his device data was deleted and the grand jury subpoena was canceled once prosecutors realized that Curry was investigating the theft of crypto, and not involved in it. In a post, Curry said that in December 2022 he discovered that scammers had inadvertently exposed their Ethereum private key in the source code of a phishing website that had stolen millions of dollars worth of crypto. Curry said he imported the key to his own crypto wallet to see if there was anything left in the alleged scammers’ wallet, but that he found the key “five minutes too late and the stolen assets were gone.” Curry said he was “on my home IP address and obviously not attempting to conceal my identity as I was simply investigating this.” “We normally take this approach where it’s seeing if there’s anything we can do to help. And then if we can’t, obviously we can’t. It’s tricky, because there are so many of these phishing campaigns,” Curry told TechCrunch in a phone call. Curry said that the feds had requested the authorization logs from crypto marketplace OpenSea, which Curry used to check the contents of the scammers’ wallet. Those logs included Curry’s home IP address. Curry accused the feds of using his arrival to the U.S. “as an excuse to ask for my device and summon me to a grand jury, rather than just email me or something.” “I’m sharing this because I think it’s something people should be aware of if they’re doing similar work. It was widely shared that the private key was leaked and my background as a security researcher wasn’t enough to dissuade using immigrations and a grand jury to intimidate me,” Curry said in his post. Curry is a widely known security researcher, whose work has helped to discover flaws in airline rewards programs, connected vehicles, and helped to uncover security weaknesses at Apple, and Starbucks. Curry said was flying into Washington DC to attend an election security research forum set up by U.S. cybersecurity agency CISA to audit U.S. voting machines. After he was released from the airport, he spoke to his attorney, who told the federal investigators that Curry was investigating the incident as part of routine work as a security researcher. Upon my return to the United States from a trip to Japan, I was directed to a secondary inspection room where I was presented with a Grand Jury subpoena by officers from the IRS-CI and DHS. The subpoena required me to appear in New York to provide testimony for wire fraud. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/VrxiKZpfgS — Sam Curry (@samwcyo) September 27, 2023 In a call, Curry told TechCrunch he understood why the feds were investigating the incident, but criticized their approach. “The thing I will give credit for is if in any other circumstance somebody has the private key, someone who’s obviously done a multimillion dollar phishing scam, and use that private key to sign in to OpenSea, yeah, I think it is a little suspicious and that’s like definitely something to investigate,” said Curry.
“They had a manila folder with my photo and my Twitter and all my social media, and I would have assumed that they would have looked into it a little bit,” said Curry. “Even just a brief read — just who I am and what I do — I feel it would have cleared things up a lot.” While he believes the legal demand is resolved, Curry said that he “felt dirty” when the feds handed back his phone after searching its contents. U.S. authorities can search a person’s phone at the border without a warrant, including Americans, though the law is less clear on whether a person must comply. Only U.S. citizens cannot be denied entry for not complying, but they can have their devices seized indefinitely. Nicholas Biase, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where the grand jury subpoena was filed, declined to comment when reached Wednesday. Terry Lemons, a spokesperson for the IRS-CI, the criminal investigative arm of the U.S. tax authority known for probing crypto thefts, did not return a request for comment. It’s not unheard of for U.S. authorities to target security researchers or journalists with threats of prosecution or other kinds of legal process to compel testimony, like grand juries, which convene in secret to determine if formal criminal charges should be brought against a person. The relationship between U.S. authorities and the security community has largely improved in recent years as both attitudes towards good-faith hackers and the legal landscape for security researchers have changed for the better. But instances like this threaten to weaken the trust built in recent years by disincentivizing researchers from engaging in security defense and remediation if they think their actions could be prosecuted. In the last few years, security researchers have taken matters into their own hands during thefts and hacking campaigns that target and steal cryptocurrencies. In the crypto world, this is called “white hatting,” a term that refers to the traditional distinction between black hats, cybercriminals or hackers who hack with malicious or illegal intent, and white hats, researchers and hackers who operate with no criminal or ill intent. But accessing a victim’s wallet — even a scammer’s wallet — in an attempt to recover funds falls in “a real gray area” of the law, former prosecutor Elizabeth Roper told Motherboard last year. “If it ends up saving everyone, every user on the platform and a bunch of money and the person who did it kind of immediately discloses it,” Roper said, “maybe we wouldn’t use our resources to prosecute that person, but again it depends on the specific case.” Source

The Heart's Bidding (Amish Calling Book 1) by Kelly Irvin
Tumblr media
Book Details:
Title: The Heart's Bidding
Series: Amish Calling Book 1
Author: Kelly Irvin
Publisher: Zondervan
Pages:
Release Date:  August 1, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Together, schoolteacher Rachelle Lapp and auctioneer Toby Miller must face their hardest battle yet: trusting God’s plan for their uncertain future.
At twenty-nine, auctioneer Toby Miller is a notorious bachelor. But his job keeps him on the road for months out of the year, and he knows no Plain woman could want a marriage that would force her to live and raise children alone. Thankfully, Toby’s content to dedicate his life to the family business, especially now that his grandfather is retiring. So why does his heart keep longing for something—or more specifically, someone—he can’t have?
Rachelle Lapp has already turned down two marriage proposals. Neither promised a future that would bring her more joy than her job as a teacher to Amish children with developmental disabilities, including her brother, Jonah, and Toby’s sister, Sadie. But when the parents’ committee votes to send her students to the English schools, where they will have access to many more resources, Rachelle finds herself out of a job. She’s forced to decide between pursuing her calling far from home and staying near to the man she can’t get off her mind.
As their families matchmake, Toby and Rachelle realize their jobs may not be all that’s holding them back from a future together. They both must learn not only to trust each other, but also trust God’s plans for them. But do those plans involve a lifetime together or them going their separate ways?
My Thoughts: Deeply Touched My Heart
Sometimes you read a book that just leaves you in awe of how deeply it touches your heart. Such is the case with Kelly Irvin’s The Heart’s Bidding.
First, you have Rachelle Lapp and Toby Miller. Each one has suffered through relationship issues in the past that have somewhat clouded their feelings on the subject of love and trust. They’ve also had situations in their work and families that weighed heavily on them and in turn had them facing some difficult decisions. All of this caused them to have some reservations which had an impact on their  growing feelings for each other and their possible future. Following their journey completely tugged at my heart strings.
Next you have a wonderful cast of secondary characters, some of which were very special. This is a topic that doesn’t show up very often in this type of story. However, it is very clear that the author researched the topic extensively. The way she flawlessly detailed the characters’ dialogues, actions and reactions was so spot on that it made them feel like they were real.
Lastly there is another topic that rarely shows up in this type of story. That topic is about adults who never had their educational needs properly addressed in childhood and how it impacts them in adulthood. This too was depicted in such a realistic way that it deeply touched my heart.
Author Kelly Irvin has once again written a story that draws you in completely and touches your heart is a special way. It is one of love, hope, faith, trust and following God’s plan. It is a truly heartfelt story that I highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.  All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

A Cruel Arrangement by Tijan is now live!
This was my place. My business. Easter Lanes.
Then a guy comes in, trying to rob me, daring to take it away from me.
My home. My life.
Hell no. I won't let my livelihood be threatened.
No one knows what I've done to build this life for myself.
Except he might.
Ashton Walden, a man I remember from when we were kids.
Even back then I could tell how dangerous he would be one day.
He's now the head of the Walden mafia family, and my father is so in debt to them that they practically own him.
My dad and I are estranged and I want nothing to do with him or his debt, but the day after the attempted robbery, I don't wake up in the hospital.
I wake up in Ashton Walden's home. And he drops a bomb on me.
If I want my livelihood back, I need to earn it back.
And thus begins our cruel arrangement.

My Review
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Get ready! This story had me on the edge of my seat, unable to stop reading from the beginning until the end. This author brings pure perfection in this intense, powerful, mafia world/enemies to lovers romance story, that may be unconventional but it was oh so captivating. Action packed, full of thrilling danger, violence, death, cruelty, ruthlessness, as well as filled full of a sizzling, steamy romance.
This is Molly Easter and Ashton Walden journey to a HEA and I was mesmerized by every word of this romance! These two have been part of a world that was not of their choosing, but one they were born into. Meeting each other at a young age, they never were close until one night when Molly’s world, Easter Lanes was threatened and her switch came into play. Usually she was kind and pure but not when backed into a corner and over reacted or irrationally overreacted or worse.
Ashton was the complete opposite to Molly. He was now the head of the Walden Mafia family, and he was dark, intense and cruel and he loved that part of his world. But now she was part of the war that his family was involved in which meant she was his business now. And the forced proximity that it created made the itch he had for Molly keep intensifying! And Molly well she had her own attraction for him as well. It was so amazing to see them both change and be so tuned in to each other becoming what the other needed.
“Unlike Trace, I liked being cruel. I liked killing. I liked the ruthlessness of this world, but I’d been holding back for him, for my brotherhood with him, for his woman, for my very delicate relationship with Jess, but Molly-she was a whole other factor.”
This was so well written and I loved how this all played out. I also loved all the secondary characters and getting more of Trace and Jess. I hope there is a spin off from this world, and if there is I will be anxiously waiting!
Received an early copy and this is my honest review.

My Review: I knew this book was right up my alley since I read the blurb. The 80s are an age dear to my heart as it was the time of having fun, attending university, experimenting with fashion, and listening to tons of good music. It's a complex era that was very exciting, fun but also very dark. This story talks about the lighter side, the one we remember and would like to live again. It's a coral story about a family and their quirky neighbours. The author developed a groups of fleshed out and relatable characters, I liked them and hope to read more stories featuring them. It's a well told story, it kept me reading and entertaining, turning pages and enjoying it. I'm glad I read it because I discovered a new to me interesting author. Many thanks to Karen Louise Hollis and Rachel's Random Resources for this digital copy, all opinions are mine

Sell Your Iphone 4 For An Apple Iphone 4S
Ever since Steve jobs and his company brought the iPod, iPhone and iPad to life, there was a huge alternation in the world of gaming. These mobile phones created by Apple have already conquered the mobile games market. OneSafe Photos: This app can turn into a secret vault for your individual pictures and videos. Dragon Ball Fighterz Setup can take new pictures, choose their own library, or import from USB for adding for you to their secret vault. This vault can be secured along with a 4-digit PIN, a password, or a visible pattern. Using a single tap, users can lock it and what's more, it gets locked when they leave the app. Decoy passcode could be the highlight feature of the app. When users launch the app and enter in the Decoy passcode, it opens another style of the program where they can create folders of photos of electrical power mundane vast array. As the name suggest, this app secures only photos and videos. oneSafe Photos works with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, ipod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later. Another feature that Apple fans were looking forward to is Twitter integration. With Twitter pre-installed, you never need to download the Twitter app from the App Business. Right out of the box, you can tweet whatever is in your head on the go. You are able to pick photographs from your album or snap really them, tap to select, tap Photo Stream and then the name of the stream (friend) to which you'd much like your pics hooked up. Adding and deleting post office box folders doesn't involve the use of another device any extra. You can readily get all of your email messages organized in folders directly via your iPad, iPhone or ipod touch. This saves time and attention. You get to use the mail in a lot more functional technique. First of all, head over to Settings to make certain that Photo Stream is turned on. Tap Photos & Camera, then toggle both My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams . Both phones also include the best cameras in the commercial. Both sport 8 megapixel cameras which can record videos in 1080p. This signifies that you get enjoy more from high-definition videos. Dragon Ball Fighterz Full Version pc game Download come with secondary front-facing digital cameras. Dragon Ball Fighterz torrent iPhone 4S includes a 8.3 megapixel camera and the Samsung Galaxy S2 along with a 2 megapixel camera. This will allow in order to definitely enjoy more from video calls. Home Sharing is a good new feature in ios 4.3. Having the ability to go away all of the songs and flicks on personal computer and accessing it remotely saves a lot of space and file redundancy (having multiple copies of the identical file.) Large libraries normally requires a time to load, but Apple should fix this in future updates.
