Hey, its tara question: What are your predictions for season 12
I think this speaks for itself, but ⚠️possible spoilers ahead under the line.
Wellllllll,
With Fire,
I’m thinking Sev is gonna come back, but him and Stella might go through it.
Brett is gonna say yes to Casey and move back with him, this her exit from fire.
Everything else is honestly just in the wind and I don’t have many predictions for Fire. 😂
HOWEVER, I have some theories about season 11 of PD:
I think Hailey is going to leave and join Jay to restore their marriage.
Kim and Adam are going to get married and adopt Makayla once Adam gets out of the hospital.
Voight will be Voight.
Hoping that Atwater has some good things happen to him cause I love the boy, but he always has the most random things happen to him. 😂
But, it could all be the opposite.
I REALLY wish Jay would come back, but I know that’s not gonna happen. Maybe he might visit and bring Hailey back with him, but I don’t think he will officially return to CPD.

https://screenrant.com/chicago-pd-season-11-hailey-upton-exit-theories/ from that 7 exit theories in how many % will happen every theorie what do you think?
It's taken me a few days to answer this because I wanted to do it on my computer, but let's break it down:
Upton joins Halstead in Bolivia: I feel like this definitely will not happen. She has no ties to the military and has never even made a comment about possibly wanting to join either as a contractor or as a reservists.
Upton Gets Back Together With Halstead & The Couple Leaves Chicago Together: I think one is logical and a great option to what could happen. Two things need to happen in order for this to happen. First thing is something needs to get Jay's attention to come back to Chicago, and then something needs to happen to Hailey either at CPD or in Chicago that completely rocks her world. I could see them using something happening to Hailey as the catalyst for Jay to come home, and then together they decide to leave Chicago and all of the ghosts it holds for them.
Upton Is Offered A New Position In The CPD: This is also a logical option, and would make sense. If she simply transferred departments and stayed in Chicago, just in the background... It would make sense. I don't really see this one happening only because with all the characters that have left the franchise from PD they have either gone to the feds or died - I don't see Hailey being an exception here, particularly because they didn't do this with Jay.
Upton Leaves The CPD & Joins The FBI: Again, this is a theory that is rooted in some sense and logic. I don't see this one happening, only because this is what happened with Erin. Furthermore, they already sort of threw this storyline with Hailey and she chose PD over the FBI, so I don't think they would re-tell the storytelling... Even with Jay somewhat in this picture because it would mirror how Erin left, and I just.. Hailey deserves better than a rehashing of Erin's storyline.
Upton Quits The Intelligence Unit & Police Work Altogether: Strangely, this one sort of seems out of left field. Being a cop has more or less defined Hailey Upton for SO long and for SO many years... It's all she knows, except for the house she grew up in. In conjunction with what has happened to her this past year, I could see something happening that really shifts her foundation, and makes her reprioritize her life - and that means that she has to leave the CPD. Maybe she decides to become that lawyer and change the justice system from a different angle, or something else. This option is actually one that I have been thinking they will use for Hailey's exit since we heard the news. The good (and bad) thing about this option is that they can do it for Hailey by herself (if they don't bring Jay back) but they can also do it and somehow incorporate Jay into it too. So, it works well for both sides there.
Upton Moves Out Of Chicago After Divorcing Halstead: This one is self explanatory.... I just... No. I don't/won't entertain this one
Upton Dies: Sadly, this could be an option. This option kind of scares me because they haven't offed a character since Al, so it's been a minute. The shock value that this would cause is a network's dream in the sense of the viewers and numbers, but for the life of me, I don't see why doing this to a well loved, fan favorite character would bring. I don't see this one happening.
My guess is that we will get a mix of these two: Upton Quits The Intelligence Unit & Police Work Altogether with Upton Gets Back Together With Halstead & The Couple Leaves Chicago Together. I think more or less something is going to happen to Hailey - whether it is getting shot, something at the hands of Voight again, something happening to Jay, etc.... Something just really, really big that shatters her whole world and the foundation she's built her life on, that really causes her to evaluate her perspective and what she wants. From there, she'll leave the unit and move on with her life. (Hopefully with Jay!!!) And the good news with these options is that they can write it this way, with her ending up with Jay, and we don't necessarily have to have Jay on our screens to do it. Of course it would be much better if we see Jay and I sure hope we do - but it could be done both ways.
I don't see her taking another position within the CPD because they didn't do that with Jay and they haven't done that with any other characters - everyone else has left Chicago for the most part or died. I don't see her joining the feds because they have already used that storyline with her and it'd be too similar to Erin's departure, and I don't think they'd do that twice.
But at the end of all of this too, I really have no clue, and given what happened with Jay last year, I'm not scared to admit I am horrified at the thought of what they might do with her. This is also very contingent on how many episodes she will be given when they write her out. I am holding on with bated breath and a single shred of hope from JLS saying "trust the process."

Hi friends, how are you? Haven’t really taken up the time to write a blog post. Oh, I’m obsessed with Willifer now, couldn’t you tell? New favourite ship… In this time, I have watched, finished then rewatched Criminal Minds. Love JJ, Derek Morgan, Emily Prentiss and of course William Lamontagne Jr for the life of me. Cannot wait for season 2 of Evolution, I love that silly show.
And I’ve started watching Grey’s Anatomy, I never thought I would be that person but Disney + man, it’s a godsend. I’m currently on Season 4 and I have a few unpopular opinions about that show as well.
Now, the reason I’m back… I’m sure you’re all just waking up or have reacted) to the news that Tracy’s leaving CPD.
… And I’m not sad, I’m actually relieved which is so messed up when you think about it but I’m sure a lot of Upstead and Hailey fans can relate when you love something as deeply as Upstead is loved, their entire foundation only for it to be ruined in an entire season for actually NO REASON (like fight me on this, Gwen could’ve chosen a different route instead of more trauma), was really difficult and emotional for me that I didn’t watch the season, apart from the first three episodes, only the two centric Hailey episodes after 10x03, 10x20 I only watched that unbelievable ring taking off scene and Voight and Hailey’s talk… that angered me, the less I say about that episode the better apart from the fact that Tracy’s amazing, and a literal goddess and we all know about the two episodes before that, character assassination, we’ll be here forever if we go into this.
But yes, Hailey Upton is an amazing character and even though it’s a tv show, I feel strongly for and about her and with the fact that she’s an amazing, amazing cop, her marriage to Jay is everything to me because what they’ve gone through individually in their own lives just to find that right person in each other is beautiful and I do think it’s a testament to how your person should be your best friend and someone you trust explicitly. Plus, Jesse and Tracy are amazing and I loved them the moment I saw them on screen together so… 🥰
Tracy Spiridakos is an amazing actress and as much as I will miss Hailey Upton, I know Tracy’s gonna kick ass with whatever she will do next. Her range is incredible, I can’t sing her praises enough, I absolutely love that woman.
Now, my long speech is over. See you for whenever Season 11 airs, hope you all are staying safe, healthy and happy.
And as ALWAYS, Upstead Forever ✨

still so cranky that they really tried to tell us Jay has a full name 11 seasons in
don’t the writers of CPD know that his name ending in Y is a major plot point of one of my WIPs?
like yeah I could fudge it but Mouse’s full name being Gregory is part of the same major plot point???

okay. gonna go through the members of the cpds one by one and try to figure out why they are in university for a bizarre amount of time. basically just need most of them to still be there in 2016 (ppgw filmed), and at least a few in 2017 (accgw). in my timeline of events, tptgw took place in 2012, and the staged version of ppgw (i believe the staged and filmed versions are two separate things that happened at different times, because it better suits my timeline) happened in 2014.
chris: presumably on the wealthier side (described as a philanthropist in the tptgw programme, and in a different version of it, he was the one who received a large inheritance from his grandfather, not max) so it’s plausible that he easily did another degree. alternatively, since the polytechnic thank him for said philanthropic efforts, he may have just stuck around, even if not actually studying.
robert: this one’s fine, because it’s said in the ppgw programme that he’s not actually studying at the polytechnic (he’s working as a janitor). so he can be there as long as he wants.
max: only in his first year of studying during tptgw. this means it should last until 2014/2015 if he completed it first try. him being here longer than that is fairly easy to explain though — it’s incredibly plausible that he had to repeat a year or two like trevor did, because we know max isn’t the brightest (affectionate). he also has a rich family, so he could also have easily taken another course, but i believe it’s the first because according to one version of the tptgw programme, this was already his second time at a uni (before attending cornley polytechnic, he graduated from rada).
sandra: this one i’m not sure what to do about. in tptgw programme, it’s said she’s been there for almost 3 years (or 11 seasons) which means by that point, she should be almost finished her degree. i don’t think it’s as plausible to say she had to repeat, since she seems like she’d be dedicated to finishing, and even if she had to repeat one year only once, that’s still nowhere near enough. i suppose that means she took another course, but i don’t know how many more rich members i can handle. she’s a major question mark for me.
dennis: same as max, he’s only in his first year during tptgw, and i would very much believe he had to repeat, probably several times.
annie: kind of figured out? in tptgw, she’s been there for 3 years, meaning she’s getting close to finishing her course. she’s one i definitely believe came back for a second course — it says that she’ll be leaving for an internship at the bolton octagon, so that implies to me that this is after finishing her current course. given that that’s presumably a stage managing job, i’d assume she studied something in that area during those years. by the time of staged ppgw, she’s back, and now studying cognitive behavioral therapy and pottery. if we say her first year was 2014, that plausibly gets her to 2016 at least, probably 2017 (if it’s a four year course). she never gave me the vibe of being a nepo baby, but according to her twitter account, her father owns an oil company, which screams rich to me.
jonathan: another question mark. we don’t know when he started attending the polytechnic, but i’d guess he isn’t in his first year. like sandra, i don’t find it as believable that he’d have to repeat, so that implies a new course again, but cmon how many of them are doing that.
trevor: probably the one we know the most about, in terms of his courses. we know he was on his final year for the third time in staged ppgw. but i’m not sure how he stuck around. do i really believe he had to repeat his final year another two or three times? no not really. in a different version of the ppgw programme, it says he’s studying music production, so ewe could potentially move that so that he did that after finishing engineering, but that doesn’t feel right to me. so i’m not sure about him either.
so really, the main uncertainties are sandra, jonathan and trevor. robert and annie i’m fairly confident in, and max and dennis i believe are sorted. i’m a little unsure about chris, but i think there’s ways to explain him. any suggestions to justify sandra, jonathan and trevor would be greatly appreciated.

Do you think there could be a world where CPD decided to keep Benjamin because they know Tracy is departing?
I have no idea what the deal is with Torres.
I do think some things in the show (knowledge of Tracy leaving, the ending of 10x21) point to him staying. Benjamin has unreadable behavior on social media, so I've stopped putting stock in that with him. I don't know the reason why he was missing for so many episodes, but if that's the plan going forward than it is what it is for these characters.
I think logic would assume he's staying. The only outlying variable here is Wolf Ent itself, which tends to be a little finicky with characters and their creative fit. They could very well decide it isn't a fit (we've seen this before) and season 11 will bring in a whole new crop of people.
TLDR: I hardly understand my own thought process, and I don't know 😂

If someone told you that you HAD to guess yes or no, would you say the world of Chicago PD Season 12, if it gets that far will be minus Benjamin and Tracy? If so do you think they’d add new cast members? Do you feel the show needs new cast?
Echoing @go-to-two here, but my feelings are Yes. If CPD - and all of OC -gets another season after the upcoming -whenever that’ll be- I don’t think Tracy will be in it, and I doubt Benjamin will even be in 11. They could have just been experimenting in season 10 with Benjamin and how easy it is to write characters out for an episode, like they were planning to do for the upcoming season, but to be honest he’s not the character I would have done that with. Simply because, IMO, his absence, even limited, isn’t noticeable or even really felt.
For me, if they’re sticking with the super centric story telling then it’s a no to new characters. They don’t utilize the characters they currently have enough for that method of story telling, new characters just kind of get lost in it. Again though this is my opinion, but it’s definitely how I felt with Torres. Unless they’re going to scrap everyone but one (likely Voight) and start fresh that way, but that’s way too big a risk.

Here’s Part 8 of TOME ‘What-If Season 3′ story, where we see the return of both a friendly and unfriendly face.
Links to Parts 1-11:(1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (You are here) (9) (10) (11)
After they had finished their battle, and Kizuna was about to log off, they received a message from Webmaster:
Sorry to bother you all so soon after the ceremony, but we have a visitor that wishes to discuss something that relates to the events of 4 months ago. Head to HOME as soon as you can.
“Sounds pretty serious if it’s addressed to everyone”, Kizuna noted, “who would want to discuss that again?”
“Maybe it’s that CPD agent Alpha and I met that day. His name was... Giga, I think?” Flamey pondered, “Yes, that’s his username”, Kizuna confirmed, “I heard from Execk that he’s Webmaster’s main contact from that organization for any emergencies involving TOME or SOFTDI. We were lucky that his superiors allowed the game to stick around.”
“Wow,” Flamey was surprised, “I guess he was pretty essential to seeing TOME got off the ground after the virus incident, huh?”
“From what I hear, he likes the game too”, Kizuna smiled, “Kinda nice knowing there’s a heart behind the metal exterior.”
“Yeah, it does,” Flamey agreed. “So, shall we head up?”
When Flamey and Kizuna arrived at HOME, they were just a few minutes behind Alpha and the rest, who were greeted by the Netkings and brought in to where they were meeting their guest. When they were brought in, they were met with Giga, whose masked had been lifted to show his face, as well as an unwelcome surprise.
Standing behind Giga, in a not-so-welcoming manner, was Rubirules, one of the former Netkings who was responsible for the many trials and tribulations wrought upon the group. Alpha and Zetto, understandably, were not elated by this reveal, “What the HELL is HE doing here?!” they yelled, almost in unison.
Rubirules scoffed, “Nice to see you too, kid. Glad to see you know how to make a guy feel welcome.” He turned his head to face Zetto and Kizuna, “Congrats in joining the ranks, you two. I’m surprised you even took the job Kizuna, considering how you feel about the ‘bot.”
Kizuna looked to the floor with a more sombre look, leaving Flamey concerned. “You just back off from her”, Zetto simmered, “or I’ll give you something to be surprised about.” “That makes two of us,” Alpha agreed.
“That’s enough! Cool it, you two”, Execk insisted, maintaining his calm demeanour, “I’m not exactly thrilled to see him either, none of us are. But I can assume there is a reason for it. Care to enlighten us, Giga?”
Giga, who had been patiently waiting to speak, nodded in agreement. “Very well. To keep it as brief as I can, Rubirules is currently under what we’ll call ‘escorted parole’. His Netking privileges are limited by the color around his neck and his actions will be monitored. If he does anything that might jeopardise TOME or its inhabitants, he will be brought back into full custody.”
“So, to sum up”, Rubi spoke, “I’m on bail, so long as I help Giga in this case he’s got going on.”

Criminal Minds s02e12 Profiler, Profiled review - or more aptly named, the episode where I totally lose my shit over Shemar Moore/Derek Morgan/whatever the fuck he wants to name himself because this man is perfection and I think I found my soulmate and I don’t care that he’s 21 years my senior.
Episode 12 – Profiler, Profiled
Okay, okay, okay. So I’m a little bit excited about this one. I admit, I was naughty and I went a bit on IMDB and oh my god we’re getting a background story on my chocolate Adonis! Oh my god, I’m so happy I could cry.
Okay, okay. Cooling it down. Because it’s Criminal Minds, so it may just be something awful, and I really don’t want to think about that either.
Let’s see what happens.
Oh my god, Spencer just waiting on that battery holder is just the most precious thing ever! Ic an’t with Gubler! I love you! Even his high-pitched excited voice is the cutest thing ever.
Oh my god! It just went off like a rocket and hit Emily straight in the forehead!!!!!!!!!
I can’t with this show. It is so beyond amazing. I love it!
“Don’t you recognize a rocket when you see one?” Penelope, you bad, bad girl.
“It will not do you any good to argue with him.”
Hahahaha, oh my god, Emily’s excitement level is amazing.
And of course it lands at Hotchner’s feet.
“Really starting to get some distance on those.” Did Aaron Hotchner just make a joke?
Awwww! My babycakes is such a momma’s boy and he goes every year to Chicago for his mom’s birthday? I love him. I love him. I can’t stress this enough – I LOVE DEREK MORGAN!
Wait. Whose grave is Derek standing at?
Okay. Derek doing shopping with a woman is too hot.
And those guys look like trouble. Just because Derek is on red alert. Okay? Just because of that.
Desiree, listen to Derek.
Why is that guy always taking pictures of him? I mean, I’d be sweet on Derek, too, but come on. That’s a bit stalkery.
And Desiree better watch her back with this Rodney and his thugs, ugh, I hate them already.
Why is he dogging on Damian? He’s just as good as James. They’re just kids. That’s not nice.
Hey! What the hell? They’re friends, come on.
I love Derek interacting with kids. It’s the most precious thing ever.
That old guy looks awful. Ugh. I really don’t like him.
Awwww!!!! So they are half-and-half? I love them so much. He has two sisters. Turns out he can’t cook for his life. And he’s still his mom’s baby boy. I love Derek so much.
Wait. Is that a dead boy? Is that Damien? Oh my god.
Oh my god, Derek is the most thoughtful being on the planet. He got a remote starter for his momma’s car so it would be nice and warm when she steps out to get into it? Oh my god.
Oh my god, she’s already hounding on him for grandbabies? Oh that is precious.
I hate the look on that man’s face.
Wait what?
He’s gonna arrest Derek? For what? He thinks he killed Damian? What the fuck is going on here?
Oh my god, baby boy, don’t worry, everyone will come and help you. I swear it. Or I’m gonna get in there and kick some ass.
Cory Doctorow: “All secrets are deep. All secrets become dark. That’s in the nature of secrets.” Whoa. That just became scary. Is Derek’s past scary? I don’t want to be scared by my hunk of chocolatey goodness.
So they already called Hotch? Above Derek’s head? That’s not right.
Come on Hatch, rally the troops, and head to Illinois. Come on!
“Slept like a baby myself. Didn’t even wanna get out of bed.” “Really. So that wasn’t your donut-eatin’ ass on the other side of that glass all night, then, huh?” oh Derek, I love you so much, but you need to be careful.
Also, apparently him and Gordinski go way back to Derek’s youth? Was Derek a bad boy that had to be punished? Oh boy.
So that’s the guy who’s been following Derek? Damn.
What. He gave the kid a ride home and he was killed? Oh shit.
They think he killed Damien? No!
God, I hate Gordinski already.
What? A profile Gideon put together led Gordinski to Morgan? No. No.
Oh my god, so by just being an amazing person, Morgan accidentally put himself directly as the main suspect for the profile that Gideon put together for Gordinski? I knew I hated that fat old white man.
Wait. So he saw his father dead at the age of ten? Oh my baby boy! I love you so much!
And he just stumbled on the dead body, my poor baby.
He collected money to bury the kid. And he just put the date on the headstone cuz he never knew who he was. And every time he comes home to Chicago he visits him. Damn.
Hold up, let’s do math. Derek was 15 in 1991. It’s 2006 when this episode airs. Quick math here. They made Derek six years younger than Shemar. He’s 30 now, in season 2, I mean. Dang.
Oh god, he had a criminal record? Oh my baby.
And this Gordinski is definitely desperate to nail Derek’s ass to the wall. And I wish that was a fun way to describe him being hot for him.
“Okey-doke,” oh Emily, I love you so very much.
Aaron Hotchner just called Morgan a suspect. No. Uh-uh. Not happening. Not on my watch. Clean that mouth, Hotch.
Wait. It was expunged. Derek is right. Hotchner had no right to bring it to him and start accusing him. Scratch that, Gordinski had no right to bring this to Hotch or Gideon.
Victimology? Are you kidding me? Check your mouth, Hotch.
Oh wow. Shemar is the most amazing actor ever! He just went into panic mode. And I love him so much. I love Derek, I love Shemar, I love those guys for making this series and hiring him.
Hey, Sarah, no need to use that language in Momma Morgan’s house, kay?
Reid, you’re not helping the case here. Just shut the fuck up.
“He’s not actually saying we believe Derek’s involved in this.” Emily to the rescue. Lol. And Reid’s like, totally backpedaling and going – “speaking theoretically.” Oh my god, I love those two.
Aw! Derek talks about him? Baby!!!!!
Ooh, Sarah is feisty. I love her.
Okay, I feel bad about poking into Derek’s life, too, Garcia, but if you don’t do this, he’s going away, and we can’t have that, now can we, baby girl? Aw, he graduated college with honors, he was a star athlete, injured his knee, wait, I thought Shemar injured it in baseball? Maybe they changed Derek’s story. I don’t know. And then there’s the whole bit on finding the body in 1991. Yikes.
Wait. Derek’s dad tried to stop a robbery, was shot, and Derek was with him, and watched him die? What? What the actual fucking fuck? Oh my poor baby, I love you for evermore.
Carl Buford? He runs the youth center. Mentored Derek. Hmm. I’m suspicious.
Oh Garcia, you special precious snowflake. Unseal the file, you are trying to help angel fish, okay? Helping him.
Hold up, the guy who recommended that the case be thrown out of court, an upstanding member of the community, on whose recommendation Derek’s files have been expunged, has just walked into the CPD with Damien’s mother? Well, that’s a coincidence.
Good. Gideon told Morgan the truth. Great. But Gordinski had preconception of guilt. Ugh.
I’m totally with Derek. When you work with people so much and you’re practically living in each other’s asses with how close you have to be to each other, the one thing you’re desperate for is a private life. I’m totally in agreement. Find the fucker who killed Damien and those other boys and lock him the fuck up.
Wow, Buford’s office is pretty decorated. Yikes.
Aww, James is so cute!
So after hearing about Derek, they just take the detective’s word for it, and he feels terrible about helping him get those files expunged? Buford, you are one asshole.
So this Gordinski asshole is telling everyone that he has multiple evidence to convict Derek, even though there is none, and they just take his word for it. You sick, sad, fat, asshole. I’m fat, too, but this is about hate. Okay? I spent the last month or so falling in love with Derek, with his incredible character that this show has built, and now this asshole is coming in and trying to take it all away from me, I want to tear him piece by piece, till I get down to his very core and just take a steak knife and stab him in wherever it hurts, but still keep everything that makes him feel working so he can feel it.
Oh my god, I am so sorry you guys! That last phrase was totally out of line. I know Derek is a fictional character, but I get emotionally attached to Shemar in whatever he does. And I guess it got to me more than I thought. I’m sorry!
“Derek had a way of charming people into looking past his deficiencies.”
Okay, that’s enough. It’s official. I hate Carl Buford. Derek is perfect! Okay? Even his deficiencies are perfect, and you can go rot in hell, you sad, twisted old man. I bet you had everything to do with this and I can’t wait to find out what you did. You ASSHOLE!
Oh shit. I’m sorry again! Fuck. What is wrong with me?
Oh my freaking goodness. Derek’s terrified face when he heard Carl’s name. I KNEW IT! Shit. I am going to stab that little … oh my god! Here I go again! What the fuck! Oh my god, Criminal Minds has totally twisted with my brain, just because they hired this perfect chocolate bonbon that I just want to … okay, this is gonna escalate into something NSFR (Not Suitable For Reading) real quick if I don’t get a grip on myself.
11 minutes till the episode ends. *Deep breaths* I can do this.
I am seriously scared right now. How the hell did that name get Derek so worked up? Damn.
Wait what? Derek escaped? Oh damn.
So now he’s an escaped convict. Fuck.
Sneaky Morgan is hot.
Wait. Buford took him on trips? Oh no. Oh no. Please no.
Oh shit. He took all the star players to a cabin. Up in Wisconsin. For ‘fishing’. Oh honey, no, no, no.
Shit. Buford fucking molested Derek as a kid? Oh my god, my baby! I am going to kill that fucking Carl and shove my fist so far up his ass….
Oh god. Shemar is such an amazing actor, I can’t even deal with all of those emotions I’m having right now.
Carl, you fucking bastard. Please let Derek at him.
Oh my god, Derek is about to cry, and he’s crying, and I can’t handle this! I can’t! oh shit. This is the one thing I thought I’d never have to see, and I love him and I can’t handle watching people I love cry.
“You could have said no.” Really? Really Carl? You are going down. And I am not even sorry for seeing this.
I love you Shemar, Derek, whoever, both of you. Oh my god.
Oh my god, that last scene at the graveyard nearly broke me. So beautiful.
 PAH.
Okay, had to get that out, sorry. This episode was just one emotional roller coaster, and I fucking hate those shitty things, what pleasure can you derive from going against gravity’s will and just hanging upside down in mid-air strapped to something that could just as easily let you escape and fall and plummet to death?
So. We found out more about Derek’s past, and sure, it’s dark as his delicious lickable skin, but it just makes me love his character even more! I love him so fucking much! He’s a family man, a good man, and I love him forever. Now. Let’s talk about Shemar fucking Moore for just one hot damn second. This is probably the best fucking thing I’ve ever seen in my entire damn life. What the fuck do they teach them in California in acting school? Cuz hot damn! He just had me emotionally involved with just his expressive eyes and his facial expressions and his yummy body and just … everything. But maybe that’s me, cuz I get attached to the eyes quickly. That’s why I fell in love with Darren Criss in season 2 episode 16 of Glee when Blaine finally realized he was in love with Kurt. But that’s beside the point. My whole point is – I LOVE THIS SHOW AND I LOVE SHEMAR AND I LOVE DEREK AND I LOVE THIS AMAZING THING THAT I FOUND ABOUT THROUGH MY BROTHER AND I WANT TO THANK HIM FOR ETERNITY AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE OTHER EPISODES AND SEASONS HAVE IN STORE.
Till next time XD <3

Chicago P.D.: 5 Things That Are Accurate (& 5 Things That Are Fictional)
A spinoff from the popular Chicago Fire TV show, Chicago P.D. focuses on a police intelligence unit run by Detective Sergeant Henry “Hank” Voight.  Introduced as a dirty cop in Chicago Fire, he uses the same morally questionable methods to catch criminals and other more corrupt cops which the other members of his unit practice as well.
For this reason, the Chicago P.D. series has been heavily criticized for its inaccuracies about police work in general.  Yet there are grains of truth buried underneath, which are explored further below alongside the aspects of this show that aren’t true.

10 Accurate - Racial Tensions Between White Cops And Ethnic Minorities Is An Existing Problem
Tumblr media
With Season 5 of Chicago P.D., a stronger attempt was made by the show to replicate what was going on in the real world regarding policemen.  For instance, the premier episode had a scene where a member of Voight’s unit named Adam Ruzek (who’s white) draws a gun on a young black man but gets defused by Kevin Atwater (the only black guy in Voight’s unit).
In recent years, it has come to the public’s attention that racial tensions between white cops and members of an ethnic minority still happens in places like Chicago which have a long history of gang violence and police corruption.  This wasn’t further helped by a report that came out from the US Department of Justice in 2017 which criticized several things about the CPD including using “Force against black Chicagoans 10 times more frequently than their white counterparts,” The Atlantic magazine states.
9 Fictional - Cops Have The Authority To Deny A Lawyer To Their Suspect
Tumblr media
Despite Chicago P.D.’s attempts at being realistic, it still resorts to common cliches found in other police detective shows like denying a lawyer to an unscrupulous suspect or criminal when they request one.  Legally, this is problematic in reality as any suspect in a crime has the right to speak to a lawyer if they request one, even before they give testimony to the police, and therefore denying them could be considered a rights violation.
Though in the state of Arizona, “A defendant does not have the right to delay the investigation by demanding to speak to a lawyer and if an attorney cannot be reached at the time being, the investigative procedures may be initiated” when it comes to DUI offense cases according to a Phoenix DUI Lawyer.  The reason for this is that if the investigation takes too long, then whatever drug or alcohol may be affecting the suspect will lose its influence thus making it harder to determine their guilt.  But this does not apply to criminal cases like the ones in the Chicago P.D..

8 Accurate - Cops Do Get Involved In Fatal Shootouts
Tumblr media
Being known for its action-packed sequences, Chicago P.D. will occasionally thrust its characters into a crazy shootout that results in people getting hurt or even killed.  Though the frequency of these shootouts in the series is questionable, that doesn’t mean cops don’t get involved in them.
Within a city like Chicago, for instance, the number of shootings per year is incredibly high on average.  But according to a recent report by the actual Chicago Police Department on WTTV Chicago Public Media, “There have been 978 shootings through the first six months of the year…marking an 11% drop over 2018” which isn’t much of a change overall.
7 Fictional - Police Intelligence Units Get A Lot Of Action
Tumblr media
It seems like Voight’s unit can never catch a break on Chicago P.D. as almost every day of the week they’re out busting criminals and investigating crime scenes with the occasional shootouts.  But contrary to what the show displays, a real police intelligence unit doesn’t do much in terms of action.
What they primarily do is gather information on possible criminals and hand it over to different agencies whether they’re local state or federal authorities.  They may investigate crime scenes for clues, interview witnesses, or obtain search warrants, but they don’t make arrests or prove crimes.

6 Accurate - Accidentally Fatal Shootings Do Happen With The Police
Tumblr media
Because the characters in Chicago P.D. are morally flawed, the show will go out of its way to either justify their actions or put them in a situation that makes them seem sympathetic.  In the Season 5 premier episode “Reform,” for instance, one of Voight’s unit members named Jay Halstead accidentally shoots a young girl during a shootout with some gunrunners.
While this could be interpreted as a cheap way to make us feel sorry for Jay, who didn’t mean to shoot the girl, it does happen to cops in the real world.  In 2015, a woman named Bettie Jones was fatally shot by a CPD cop by accident along with a man who was causing a domestic disturbance according to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.
5 Fictional - Handcuffed Suspects Can Be Freely Assaulted By Cops
Tumblr media
It is common to see handcuffed suspects getting assaulted by cops in movies like L.A. Confidential or TV shows such as Chicago P.D., but generally this is not how suspects are treated once they’ve been brought into custody.  While they may be considered dangerous, due to the possibility of concealing a weapon or resisting arrest, that doesn’t mean policemen can wail on them like free punching bags.
However, there have been instances where cops have assaulted handcuffed suspects even to this day, but they typically don’t get away with it.  Instead, they get charged with misdemeanor and/or assault and are ordered to leave the department.

4 Accurate - People With Questionable Backgrounds Have Been Put In Charge Of Overseeing The CPD
Tumblr media
In the fifth season of Chicago P.D., a new character was introduced named Denny Woods.  An independent auditor hired to oversee the CPD, he exploits his power to get back at Voight (whom he was partners with as a former cop) for a prior event.
Now it may seem unbelievable that someone with a questionable background could be given the responsibility of overseeing a police department in the real world, but it does happen.  For instance, a former federal prosecutor was put in charge of Chicago’s Police Accountability Task Force a few years ago and this was met with some controversy following “Distortions of her record” according to the Chicago Reporter.
3 Fictional - Desk Sergeants Have A Lot Of Authority
Tumblr media
Aside from Voight, another character that made an official debut in Chicago Fire before appearing in Chicago P.D. was Trudy Platt.  A Desk Sergeant for the Chicago Police Department, in general, she supervises patrol officers like Kim Burgess and Sean Roman while occasionally interacting with Voight’s unit.
Now while she does live up to her title in terms of primarily working at a desk, Platt’s authority isn’t as significant as the show makes it seem like.  In reality, a Desk Sergeant (or Desk Officer) receives information about incoming incidents and then dispatches it to patrols. So Platt wouldn’t necessarily be tasked with supervising other officers, as this would mainly be the Police Sergeant’s duty which is a different position altogether.

2 Accurate - Cops Have Been Known To Torture Criminals In Certain Cases
Tumblr media
One of the main criticisms aimed at Chicago P.D. is that almost every criminal Voight’s team takes into custody gets tortured in some form whether it’s physically or psychologically.  Now this kind of behavior is ethically inexcusable, especially for a cop to commit since it violates certain rights the perceived criminal has whether they committed the crimes they’re accused of or not.
While such tactics are frowned upon by just about every police department in the world, there were cases where cops did torture perceived criminals regardless of their innocence.  Recently, a digital archive was released that documented incidents between 1972 and 1991 where CPD “Officers performed torture” on people they arrested as stated by The Atlantic.
1 Fictional - Physical And Psychological Torture Is Always Used By Cops To Get Information From Suspects
Tumblr media
When it comes to interrogating a suspect of a crime, the police will use different methods to get the information they want out of them.  However, they will not resort to things like torture either in the physical or psychological form as conducted by Voight’s unit in the Chicago P.D. show.
Though cases of police torture have come to light, it’s not an approved method for conducting an interrogation.  At most, a cop will intimidate a suspect using the “Good Cop, Bad Cop” technique but they typically won’t resort to using physical violence or blackmail for the sake of getting a confession.
