Its funny that I could feel my WH hyperfixation slowly morph into just my genuine special interest. I worried at first, cause I thought my love for it had died. Because it was duller. But no no. Now it sits comfortably and idly in my mind. Unshaken. Comfortable. At home.

My brain is just now sharing its cake with other interests of mine #WH is currently mingling with and getting to know those other interests of mine in my brain. #I mean because of WH I've picked up OTHER interests! #I have a new found love for puppet media. a resparked appreciation for things whimsical and colorful! #CRAYONS! I BOUGHT CRAYONS! To experience the joy of just...coloring with crayons again! #the impact this project has had on me is hard to put into words. I'm so unbelievably glad I'm getting to watch the story unfold #and enjoy the characters and meet other people who like WH and talk endlessly about it and!!!!! AUGH!!!! speaking of drawing people's faces and lifting any art of [will roland role based] characters overhead when you can tell the artist was actually trying to meaningfully use that inspiration beyond "brown hair. glasses" like wow once in a lifetime unsame as it ever was

not coming up a lot that Professional Illustrators are drawing will roland as [role] or like, in general, but that in fact there Are the examples of professional illustrator justin "squigs" robertson drawing him several times and it's like, doing stylized portraits of people working in theatre that are indeed focusing on distinguishable individuals versus, say, the style being more abstracted

all drawn differently but various gists are there, and none of the people in these group collages look interchangeable or like oh and this person gets thee "generic/default" look

there's also the fact i'm like 99% sure there's a squigs-drawn larger portrait of will roland just as himself that i love to think of / sure further encapsulates that "thank god this artist drawing Features" but i can't find it or remember exactly what context it was in. augh

#sooo replenishing #and like the issue pointed out that the excuse of [skill issue] is offered like It's Really Not A Skill Issue #someone can be very inexperienced at say; drawing; and still Evidently be actually trying to capture something Actually There in whatever #their model is. me as a like 5 yr old on the level of [yes all faces Are abstracted as =) ] still for example clearly depicting my mom's #usual hairstyle in my crayon portraits there #these examples here the polar opposites of The Nose Issue lol like stylized simplified And Yet still all clearly downturned #even the stylization leaning more convex nose bridge than that concave upturned nose slapped on anyone's face #deh #will roland #bmc #and forever the idea that Stylized Simplified drawing techniques are easy / bad but like it sure af is neither #you can note 'ah i see that this experienced artist's drawings are not photorealistic; formed of what i can tell are simple lil lines even' #but then be thrown off b/c of course it Looks easy but their lines are afforded a Casualness in their execution from their experience #knowing how to form and place them to give it that [Looks Good] without it being a painstaking &/or [9000 tries & errors] process for them #and like sure then anyone can Recreate it but you can throw yourself off thinking you Ought to be able to straightup Create It similarly... #like copying these obviously simplified stylized Faces made up of varying Shapes as seen here? prob a fun & neat & helpful exercise #especially if one's just working on breaking out of the ''i draw a Default Face for Everyone'' kind of situation #the exaggerated swoops and hard angles Geometry of compositions and forms overall is also a v fun element used here

i frequently receive questions about the brushes i use and most of them are default brushes that exist in procreate bUT i also almost always recommend DAUB! you can purchase these whole packs consisting of several brushsets, and, if a pack you have already purchased gets updated with a new brushset you can download it for free ! >:) anwyay the DAUB | expression tools for procreate got updated with a brushset called atramentum and this is what it looks like when i test new brushes ahaha

#i will always go to bat for daub because i used several of their pastel/crayon brushes for CSP to illustrate two entire children's books #and everyone is always like 'WAIT YOU DID THISE... DIGITALLY??? ON A COMPUTER???' and im like hehe yes >:) #i just LOVE. brushes that have the GOOD INKY FEEL. THAT'S THE GOOD STUFF #also my artist advice is always gonna be try different things until you find something that speaks to you and lets you express yourself #to the fullest!! what makes creating the most easy for your soul!!!!

Artfight 2023, 6/25 - Rumble and Frenzy @drill-teeth

I knew I wanted to draw these two redesigns specifically, as they're dear both to me and to the recipient, but it took me most of the day to come up with what to do exactly. Then as I was looking through the tags to get reference, I was inspired by all the Saturday morning cartoon vibes and title screens and what not and decided to go for a fairy tale scene with Rumble's instrumental mode in the role of a dragon. Warmup sketches to feel out the specifics of these design are included, and a progress gif of the photos I took while drawing is under the cut.

originally i was going to just leave it alone but like? photography is art singing is art curating music playlists and pinterest boards is a Form of art cooking and and baking can be art if you want it to be. because you are Creating Something That Previously Did Not Exist. people probably look at culinary school students and are like wow i coukd never do that the same way people look at digital artists and say the Same Thing. if you think art is limited only to the form/media of drawing, especially digitally, you are sorely missing out on life

my Typical Makeup Look which ive been gradually getting better at is pretty simple despite looking like its more high effort than it is

#step 1: pale foundation #step 2: dark eyeshadow from the eyelids up to the eyebrows and a little under the eye #step 3: eyeliner (pencil type) in a ring around the eye and an extended 'lash' shape on the sides #step 4. mascara (its mascara) #step 5: lipstick (its lipstick) #step 6: i use this like. crayon eyeliner thing and i draw a little on my eyebrows and then smudge it to make my brows look more 'solid' #step 7: after having smudged my brows i then smudge it again down the sides of my nose bridge #hard to explain this but it adds an Effect #step 8: setting spray or whatever its called (so it stays) #so yeah not that complex #OH YEAH AND sometimes for lipstick ill put on this metallic red one my mom gave me and then use my finger to smudge some of my #black lipstick with/over it and it creates the illusion of a metallic black its neat
