Crystalized AU Idea - Vessel AU

Currently vibing with thoughts for a Crystalized AU (I’ll put it under the cut just in case the spoiler tags don’t work), feel free to send asks or use this as a prompt (just please tag me) or reblog and add your own ideas (just remember to tag spoilers!)

So the Crystal King is the vessel body of the Overlord, right?

...what if the ritual wasn’t to summon him, but to prep a new vessel host? One that’s quite familiar to us?

Option 1) Lloyd

In this version of the AU, the kidnapped Lloyd gets prepped for the ritual, and the Overlord returns possessing the hero that once vanquished him. Lloyd gets Morro trauma re-hashed, his family (who have been tearing out their hair looking for him) finally find him only for him to be possessed by the hecking OVERLORD, and Garmadon gets to have a fun reversal parallel to Season 2 in him calling for his son to fight off the Overlord.

Also Lloyd being alone when it happens, alone and scared and suddenly every bit the kid/younger teen he should be if the tea hadn’t happened, and he can do nothing to stop the Overlord from gaining the powers of Energy and the oni/dragon

Option 2) Wu

Not too many thoughts here, just the fun parallel of Wu being possessed like his brother was in S2, some of Wu’s dragon genes coming out

Option 3) Pixal

90% likely this results in a future where the Overlord wins. The other 10% he’s defeated in 5 minutes by Pixal kicking him out.

Option 4) the OG4 (Kai, Jay, Cole, AND Zane)

Four for the price of one (and my personal favourite of the bunch)! Harumi uses Lloyd to lure the four into a trap and capture them, then use them & their golden weapons in the ritual. The Overlord possesses all four at once (a 1 mind 4 bodies deal), with crystals and glowing purple eyes and slight draconic/later possibly centaur features. Sometimes just one talks for all, sometimes all four talk in sync, and sometimes one starts a sentence and the other finishes it (plus a fun mix of their original voice and the Overlord’s voice). They wield the crystalized version of the golden weapons and all their elemental powers change slightly to match the crystal theme (purple fire, purple lightning, crystal earth, and crystal ice).

The Council is half infuriated over having to bow to the four ninja, half smug over having bested them in revenge with the Overlord in control of them now. There are a few incidents where they see or hear them and nearly attack before remembering.

Also because the Overlord now has his own powers + the four elements of creation, Nya is speedrunning getting her powers back to save them. AND we get a new and improved version of the Replacement Ninja (including but not limited to: Pixal, Echo, Ronin, Fugidove, Akita, Okino & Blazey, Vania & the Upplies, and Benthomaar), and even Morro gets summoned from the Departed Realm because since he has knowledge on possessing people, he possibly has knowledge on how to UNpossess people.

Don’t get me wrong I love crystalized but-

Look they KNEW so many people despised Harumi and that if the wanted to give her a redemption arc it would take a lot of effort ánd luck to change that but...

This just felt so, SO lazy and bad and rushed...

Like- they started pointing towards the redemption in episode 14, with pointing out she didn’t want to hurt people. And then her eyes started glowing, implying that she was mindcontrolled. I previously stated I thought that was a lazy way out, and I still agree.  But it would still have been better then this.

Like, implying redemption episode 14, only to suddenly turn in episode 29/30, literally right after saying that one side had to lose for peace? Like I get wanting peace and she is undoubtedly delusional in her goals, but literally the only reason she joined them was because of that reveal. Not because she realised what she did was wrong (which was implied), not because she wanted to do better (which was also implied), it really was just because she hated the Overlord more than she hated Lloyd. 

Meaning that, from a lore perspective, she didn’t turn good. She helped them as a one-time thing because ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ stuff. 

Like- I’m glad she’s good now, I want her to be good, but I was desperately, desperately hoping they wouldn’t mess this up, just so there was a chance people could maybe start liking her. But I already see so many posts confusing her motives and goals, because admitedly there were so butchered and unclear in the story. I really wanted more people to get a chance to start liking some aspect of her character, any part of it. But I can see how for some people that will never happen, especially now. 

Most parts made no sense and were rushed, the face turn was something we saw coming but were expecting more off, and what will happen now? Like, all the criminals are free and helping rebuilding, which is good since community service, but afterwards? Are they all going to Kryptarium?

Like, I’m really happen they didn’t push the ship, even if I personally do like it (under the guarantee that they are friends first and Harumi sorts her life out, of course), just because it would be even worse if it did. I’m glad that she and Lloyd don’t seem to even be friends, just awkwards acquintences, which is really all they can be at this point in the story. 

I just-

I was so happy when I learned she had returned to the show, because I though they could build off of her implied redemption at her death, like they did with Morro. I though we could expand it and show growth in her, apologise to Lloyd and help him heal that way. But this- ALL of this...

Honestly, I just feel sad because of what could have been. They could have expanded the universe. They could have expanded the SOG. They could have expanded her past and the broken monarchy. I understand that these are too many plot point for onse season, but they should have used it better. All the story point were right there and ready for the taking, and they just didn’t.

And I’ll be desperately searching for fanfics following the finale exploring her redemption for the next weeks, because I need it.

• Y’know, I’m kinda here for the “hey, remember this character?” rehash

• [Beyoncé reaction image] OVERLORD!?!???!

• It looks so funky in this animation style, like one of those sea urchin thingies

• Wait, the crystal king isn’t garmadon?? Not sure if I buy it yet, but that’s a cool twist if so

• The Overlord has the power to bring her back from the dead?! And grant super strength?!??

• I intentionally didn’t set expectations but dang, apparently I did because my expectations have already been thrown out the window

• I am SO into seeing old scenes from different angles!! Knowing that Harumi was *right there* when they arrived in Shintaro is so!!!

• “Well, I needed enough players for my villainous volleyball team, of course.” “… are you serious?” “Of course I’m not serious! Eugh!” “Well it’s hard to tell with you sometimes!” Oh my gosh I love her line, I love Lloyd, I love their dynamic here

Vinny is absolutely batshit crazy and we don’t even talk about it.

I mean, the guy welcomed Garmadon, who took over the country, nearly killed his own son on live tv, actually killed a bunch of people (probably a lot, I’d never believe that no one got squished by the Colossus, there’s just no way), singlehandedly destroyed the whole city, was the first character in this show to murder someone on screen, is a freaking ONI, who are also known for taking over the world and destroying everything, a bunch of other stuff I’m too lazy to list, but you get the point. Garmadon is the last guy any sane person would want to be roommates with. But Vinny, this psychopath, welcomed him to live in his apartment (even though Garmadon said absolutely nothing about living together) on a dumb promise he had no guarantee Garmadon would keep (he literally broke the vow of nonviolence twice, that’s a really bad track record) and was like “imma teach this crazy evil warlord who completely destroyed our city like a couple of months ago howta be good and let him live in my apartment and give him a plant cuz he asked nicely”. And the worst thing is, he never actually told anyone. Vinny is out of his mind and you can’t convince me otherwise
