“Curufin … was wedded. Others who were wedded were Maelor and Caranthir."
Curufin’s wife moodboar
Since Curufin was his father’s favorite son, I supposed that Feanor found for him a noble and fine Noldorin lady.

Fëanorian wives for @finweanladiesweek
Tumblr media
Tinweriel – wife of Maglor
From a Noldorin-Falmarin noblewoman musician and lover of dramatic dresses to fierce Fëanorian supporter, skilled swordswoman, and stalwart of strength for Maglor for centuries
(Tinweriel appears in my fics Consonance and Until the breaking of the world)
Tumblr media
Tuilindien – wife of Caranthir
A gentle Vanyarin scholar who marries a man much unlike herself, Tuilindien never stops loving Caranthir even at those times when their differences lead them to different places
(Your spirit calling out to mine is my long fic about Caranthir and Tuilindien falling in love, and has sequels)
Tumblr media
Netyarë – wife of Curufin, mother of Celebrimbor
A fresco painter from a middle class family, Netyarë has some years of happiness in her marriage to Curufin before the strife of the Noldor. She stays in Aman in accordance with her own convictions
(Netyarë appears in many of my fics from the fic Sparks fly out onwards)

Silm Modern AU Headcanons
I wrote these down in 2017/18 and never revisited them. This is all about the Finweans. I have some stuff about the Doriath elves but that would have been too much.
Everything under the cut.
Finwë founded a very successful law firm, in which all of his children except for Finarfin are employed
Finarfin decided to nope out and became a doctor instead
Findis and Fingolfin are twins for some reason
Findis, Fingolfin and Lalwen are Indis children from another marriage but I never elaborated more on that
I guess that makes Finarfin Indis and Finwë's only biological child together?
Except for Maedhros and Turgon nobody from the grandchildren studies law
Caranthir is a therapist and anger manager (I mean he has the experience I guess...)
Celegorm lives on the road, picks up stray animals and finds them a new home... I don't think he ever graduated
Argon has some sort of chronic disease I never exactly specified but this is why he spends most of his childhood and teens in the hospital
Aredhel has had some troublesome relationships in the past, resulting in her becoming a teenage mom at sixteen and decide that love isn't something she needs
Maeglin is totally doted on by his grandparents
Aegnor and Angrod are also twins for some reason and I seemed to have totally forgotten about Orodreth's existence
Finrod lives the hippie lifestyle
Maglor is a music teacher at an elementary school and happily married
Elrond and Elros are kids in one of his classes, who often have to stay at school longer because their parents are working late
I don't think Miriel is dead? I have her age written down as 70, which must mean she's still alive
Did she and Finwë get a divorce? Past me I want answers... Did Fëanor grow up with mom? Are things more chill?
Also some random stuff about my OCs nobody is probably interested in
But Curufin's wife is a marine biologist and I think this is great, he is a politics student
Fingon is a pilot? Also his plane is called Thorondor. I like this.
Also Maedhros apparently is afraid of flying and heights, I guess it's Thangorodrim related
Tyelpë is the oldest great-grandchild, Idril second oldest, Maeglin third oldest all of them only a few months apart
Anaire is an author, Nerdanel works in an art Museum, Earwen is a midwife
I have nothing about Galadriel aside from the fact that she went to Doriath Boarding School (I gues she met Celeborn there?)
Elenwë is a figure skater - yo past me not a good idea but it also fits her aesthetic not gonna lie
Amrod and Amras are actors and they're like probably the most famous out of their siblings because of that
Huan is a St Bernard

Some thoughts about costuming for the Silm live-action adaptation I will never be allowed to make (because I’m not a film major).
The Vanyar- Gauze! Filmy sheath dresses. Androgynous looks. Very instagram fairy vibes with some slices of ancient Egypt and Tang dynasty China. All pastel colors (to make the Noldor, our Main Characters, look more saturated). Lots of glowing accessories, some greenery, maybe a bit of natural crystal. Mod bobbed hair cuts and tight curls. Their hair is fully disco reflective glittery gold and their eye colors are not quite right.
The Teleri- Similar color scheme to the Vanyar but with more texture. Lots of feathers, netting, rope, rough canvas. Salt stained trousers, open chested vests, suntans, a little more down to earth. Ocean hippies just vibing. They wear lots of pearls but also some coral for that pop of red at the throat and stomach like dripping blood. Wigs are a more natural silver or light brown, with beachy waves. Some silverwork accessories.
The Noldor- Rich colors, deep dyes, tight silhouettes. Hosiery and bodices, the trickier the piecework the better. Lots of embroidery, especially on Feanor’s side. Very dark hair in braids and loops; rigidly bound (for workplace safety). Horrible washed out eyes that should not be so silver pale.
Finwe’s Brood: The Aman Years
(Skipping the obvious ones like Caranthir and Curufin)
Finwe- Wears purple to bridge the gap between his feuding kids, also because it’s regal. Gold and silver jewelry both. Layers!
Indis- Pale colors with Noldor tailoring, more fitted bodices and heavier fabric. Likes gold.
Feanor- Has stolen all his fashion cues from what other people have told him of his mother (When we briefly see her she’s in a blood red all-needlepointed robe; nothing but looks even mostly dead). Likes bright red and silver, jewelry like armor, heavy geometric embroidery, and star motifs, when he isn’t dressing down.
Nerdanel- Neutral or earth tones, usually on the warmer, redder side of brown. Lots of leather work aprons and workshop approved boots. The occasional maroon dress.
Fingolfin- Royal blue and gold! Much more courtly, very fitted and ornamented, with some layers like his dad.
Anaire- Dark blue and black, favors a smooth and silky look that is starting to replace the more embroidery heavy Therindian styles.
Findis- A Vanyarin girl, dresses in lots of loose, undyed fabric.
Lalwen- Adventure clothes, in spiteful green because she doesn’t choose sides. (But a tealish green because she sure isn’t on Feanor’s).
Finarfin- Paler Telerin elements with Noldor cuts and styles. All the jewelry.
Earwen- A feather shawl and either a dress from home or one she’s borrowed from Anaire, depending on the nature of the event. No jewelry.
Maedhros- Starts out in satiny dark purples to mirror his grandfather then slowly moves into shades of scarlet that do nothing for his coloring (he looks very washed out).
Maglor- Sexy musician clothes, lots of raspberry and carmine along with some scandalously tight hose.
Celegorm- Bright red all the time, even in the forest. Bleaches his hair badly. Looks like a blood-soaked ghost.
Curufin’s Wife- Very into silver, maybe some shades of sea green too. Red contrast is obvious.
Ambarussa- Do not actually match full time but instead maintain a dual aesthetic composed entirely of hand-me-downs. Caranthir’s old ironheeled boots? Sure. Maglor’s horrible v-neck? Yeah, they’ll wear that.
Fingon- A good son who copies his dad’s look but puts a fresher, more youthful twist on it. This is some blue and gold you can get into antics with. Beads and ribbons abound. Innovates in velvet.
Turgon- Loves layering, loves very pale blues, loves quietly blending into the background of scenes. Ideally should match the architecture.
Elenwe- Vanyarin pride even in the heart of Tirion, keeps her gauze and starlight vibes, though she streamlines it a little bit. Less dangling sashes and more semi-transparent gathered sleeves. She and Turgon obnoxiously color coordinate.
Argon- To differentiate him from his brothers he has a very distinctive hairdo. Still unsure what that should be but it may involve the elven equivalent of Manic Panic for teen verisimilitude.
Finrod- Silky rainbow with necklaces and earrings. Looser Telerin hairstyles.
Angrod- More Telerin clothing and tight to the scalp Noldorin hairstyles.
Aegnor- Mad scientist hair and ancient athleisure (leggings, short tunic, bright neon colors)
Galadriel- Combines all three of her heritages to create a look that’s mostly focused on well-tailored pale golden dresses and athletic culottes. Loves both a good tiara and a crown of braids. Looks more than a little like her grandma and leans into it.
On The Other Side of the Ocean
Morgoth- Sad man does not know how to dress, looks engulfed by his clothes. Too much going on! He’s huge, why is his horrible outfit even bigger.
The Sindar- Grey and twilight! Dark blue, pale purple, moss green, all those good moody colors. Natural dyes and the softest shapes. Love to accessorize with live plants, small animals, the skulls of their enemies (only once in a while). Hair is long to demonstrate that you love and support Luthien and her choices, and then short to demonstrate that you love and support Luthien and her choices.
Orcs- Too oppressed to even have a cool skull look going on at this point? The ones closest to Morgoth just wear these sad grey sacks and the most boring, vaguely modern body armor. You have to get pretty far out into the raiding parties before you start to get some good ‘bones of our enemies’ vibes. Evil is the death of art.
Sauron- Ideally changes outfits as often as possible, practically, should probably have some set shifts he goes through. There’s the Fire Period, the Dragon Period, the Wolf Period, the Ghost Period. Lots of experimentation, lots of shapeshifting to fit the needs of the story.
Humans- Beor’s folk do lots of embroidery (because they’re Noldor-lite.) They also bead and treasure gemstones over metals. Hador’s clan is fond of puffy shirts and loose white nightgowns to wear at dramatic moments-- also they tend to favor armor (and gilt and metalwork) the most. The Haladin love some textures, though they tend more towards leather, patchwork, uneven weaves, and quilting and are very handicraft-centric.
Evolutions
Post Helcaraxe Fingolfin’s squad starts wearing a lot more white and fur and white fur, to signify their trials. Otherwise they maintain their courtly grandeur, meanwhile Feanor’s kids are devolving into low fantasy chic and then post-apocalyptic nightmare. Gondolin has its own fashion system. Finrod and his brothers slowly start to adopt more human fashion cues post-first contact. Meanwhile Galadriel is experimenting with Sindarin hairstyles and fabrics in the forest.

B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number:”Feanatics!” - I25: Knight in shining armor Format: Double drabble Genre: Character study Rating: General Warnings: No warnings apply Characters: Maglor Pairings: Maglor/his wife Summary: What's the point in besieging Angband if you don't look good? It wasn't until years later, when the chaos had died down, they'd settled into their new lands, and the siege had well and truly begun, that Maglor paused to consider the aesthetic quality of his armor. He'd only meant to check it over for defects in preparation for a scouting expedition the next morning, but the more he looked at it, the more details he saw that could be improved upon. It wasn't that his father hadn't had any artistic vision when he crafted it, only that they hadn't always agreed on what statement such a thing ought to make. Before he knew it, he'd stayed up far later than he should drafting silhouettes and color schemes, then asking his wife for her opinion and promptly getting into a debate with her over the merits and drawbacks of capes. He didn't much bother wondering whether any particular part of his design would be possible. Once he had a few days free, he'd ride out to Himlad and show his sketches to Curufin; anything merely difficult he'd take as a challenge, and he’d have no reservations telling his older brother if there were anything impractical about it from a defensive standpoint.

i feel that silm fanart has a disappointing dearth of elves losing a piece of their ears in fights, maedhros is the only one who faithfully delivers on this aesthetic
There’s a good reason for that, Anon!
“-make a huge difference in morale,” Curufin said, flicking his perfect, notchless ears, setting the many rings and baubles chiming prettily against each other.
Maedhros let his own ears - ragged as an old tomcat’s - tilt back in annoyance. “My instructions were to develop new field medicine techniques.”
“And I did! It works perfectly for closing wounds until further treatment can be rendered. It simply happens to also have a cosmetic usage.” Curufin indicated two delicate confections of silver filigree and amethyst. “I haven’t been able to wear this pair my wife made for me in near two hundred years, ever since that arrow clipped me.”
“I’m glad for you,” Maedhros gritted out.
“You should try it.” Curufin’s eyes went crafty and Maedhros felt the beginnings of a headache bloom behind his eyes. “Just for court functions!”
‘Court functions,’ meaning, of course, ‘for Fingon,’ whose overenthusiasm was responsible for at least some of the damage. “I’m not going to pour glue in my ears,” Maedhros said.
“That’s a horrible analogy. You’re being deliberately obtuse.”
“I’m not going to grout my pinna, then. If I started worrying about hiding the damage, I’d never stop. Make a decent prosthetic hand and maybe I’ll have some use for it.”
Curufin nurtured grudges with at least as much care as his son, but he could always be distracted by his work and now his eyes lit up. “I’ve not made any progress on hands but I’ve been doing something really interesting with botulism.”

for the character thingy: Caranthir (you did not see this one coming, I'm sure xD)
Meme: Character memefor my bro @hwarang (I’m so baffled by the choice of character! I did a double take! XD)
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life
hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bangThis requires an explanation: I like to think that Caranthir took from his mother and was considered pretty unattractive for the Noldorin standard of beauty, yet I also like to think he was a “type”, in the sense that he had his own peculiar appeal.
hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffThe Slitherin part is the sensible one that knows how to make money and commerce, the Gryffindor one is the one about punching people while screaming, I suppose..
best quality: His ability to recognise valour in others despite his biases, his economical savvy, his care for his people and his land (nobody will ever convince me of the contrary) and: mathematical genius (another headcanon, but... this is about headcanons so..).
worst quality: A flaring temper, a strong tendency to follow his own biases, a certain lack of sensitivity, and almost no sense for diplomacy.
ship them with: In a way Haleth, but my feelings on the matter are complex because I imagined him in the aro spectrum well before I heard of the term. Canonically he should be married, but (since a wife is barely mentioned) I cannot imagine him to be. XD
brotp them with: Amrod and Amras, this headcanon was born out of the post-Bragollach configuration with him retiring with his people to the twins’ lands. I liked to imagine that, tactical considerations aside, he also did it because of his fondness for them. Among his brothers they were the ones he was closest to as friends and not only because they were the ones most closely associated with his mother (whom he loved a lot), but since they were the ones closer in age to him that he was able to relate to the most. Celegorm was way too socially savvy for him and their interests were different, while  Curufin was another introverted child, still the twins had the right kind of mischievous (and ofter very heavy handed) humor to both amuse him and make him want to wring their necks, which developed in a very close bond. I also love his conflictual brotp with Haleth.
needs to stay away from: I dislike this question. I could say dragons, but I imagine he would be quite glad to go and punch one for the lake thing.
misc. thoughts: He loves economics and he is very good at them, despite needing a negotiator for the diplomatic side with the patience of a thousand elves and men.His most beloved field of mathematic was numbers theory and he was obsessed by the prime numbers recurrence problem, he worked on it for almost his whole life.Even after he left one of Nerdanel’s personal favourite works was the one she made following the instructions of an “aesthetic equation” he wrote for her.Amrod and Amras know of his very conflicted feelings about their mother, they know he loved her a lot and lived her choice as a betrayal much more than all others. His reaction was to stop talking about her, almost pretending she never existed: still, very rarely, privately, and only in moments of deep vulnerability (a feeling he doesn’t live well at all), he ended up making (very unfair) tirades against her. Amrod and Amras hated them, still they knew where they stemmed from and knew how to handle him during them.He fought with a mace.He tended to have difficulties at recognising people’s feeling and empathy didn’t come easily to him for lines of thought he sees as nonsensical.
