Real quick/sad Julian thing I came up with while rewatching the music video for Gabbie Hanna’s song Monster.

(CW-Character death, fire)

Julian looked at the remains of what was once his home, the charred wood and stone being the only things left. He wasn't able to save anything, no pictures, no clothes, not even the people inside, nothing. He waded his way through the ash, his face's pale skin getting dirtied by the soot that floated through the air with each step he took. He was merely looking around, a blank look to his face before he saw something glimmer. He quickly made his way over, careful not to trip, then leaned down to pick up the object. It was a familiar golden necklace with a green jewel attached to it, laced with a protection spell. It was his lover's, he was flooded with memories, seeing this on their neck with each flashback. He became angry, why did the spell protect the damn necklace but not the person wearing it? Why did the fire have to happen to begin with?  Why couldn't he have been there, whether to save the people he loved, or to go with them so he wouldn't have to suffer without them. Questions bubbled up inside him, manifesting into rage as he let out a loud angry scream, throwing the charm away from him, as if it was what caused his loss. He stood there, shaking, heavy breathing, the rage slowly draining out of him but turning in to something much more painful, sadness, regret, guilt. All the negative emotions twisted and churned in the pit of his stomach, something else bubbling up in his throat, but this time it wasn't a scream. A quick sob passed his lips, but it soon turned to many, more choked sobs as the tears began to spill, turning dark as they collected ash from his cheeks. Julian's knees gave out, making him collapse, a cloud of dust exploding around him, gathering in his lungs as he gasped for air, making his eyes burn as he fell into a fit of coughing, his lungs desperately trying to clear themselves for clean oxygen. Once his lungs were clean enough for him to breathe, the harsh wailing came back, along with memories of the house. Memories of Mazelinka, memories of Portia, memories of his lover, all people he'd only be able to see via those memories. It all tore him up inside, not just the fact that they were gone, but the fact that he never got to say goodbye.
