I came up with an AU a long time ago but never shared it because it is nothing but angst. Consider yourself warned.
Imagine an AU where Stiles volunteers in the kids ward of the hospital. He plays games and cheers up the kids.
One day, Derek comes in to pick up Stiles from work and he notices one kid sitting on their own, not joining in with Stiles and the others. He sits with them and finds out that they were diagnosed with a terminal illness but are stable enough to go home, the problem is, their parents abandoned them because they couldn’t afford their child’s medical care.
After a few visits and a lot of discussion, Derek and Stiles take the child into their care. They give them the life that they deserve. Up until their condition worsens.
Inevitably, the child passes away. Derek and Stiles are heartbroken. Melissa reminds them that they gave that child a life they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Imagine Derek and stiles meeting in a single parents support group and stiles runs in late looking disheveled and tired and he sits down and after a minute he’s like “shit I forgot my baby” and that second his dad comes in with his kid and is like it’s fine you didn’t get any sleep and drops the baby off. And stiles is all red in the face embarrassed. And Derek tells him that he’s made the same mistake before when he left the baby at his sisters house.
A/N: I’m sorry for being gone for so long. Please don’t kill me.
Pairings: Stiles x Derek
Summary: It’s Eli’s first day of kindergarten and to say the little werewolf is nervous would be an understatement. Good thing he has the two most patient dads in the world.
Word count: 408
Warnings: None baby!
Part 2
“Do I have to go?” Eli looked up at Derek, tightly gripping his dad’s much larger hand. In his other hand, he held his Batman vs Superman lunch box that his papa packed for him. It laid against his leg, too big to fit into his backpack. Papa had helped him pick everything out. The embroidery of cute wolves running on the front pocket of his backpack was the real selling point for him despite the small size.
“It will be fun!” Stiles promised his son, kneeling on the ground so they were eye level. It felt like it had been yesterday that Eli was born and now here he was, the first day of kindergarten. Stiles couldn’t help but beam with pride at his little werewolf. He had seemed to grow so much in such a short amount of time. “I met Uncle Scott in kindergarten and he’s been my best friend ever since.”
“What if I don’t make friends? What if no one likes me?” Eli pouted and he looked so much like Derek then.
“They’re going to love you, bud,” Stiles reassured, ruffling Eli’s hair.
“But what if no one plays with me? I don’t want to be alone.”
“Their lost.” But Eli was not convinced. He hid himself behind Derek’s leg as if Derek could protect him from the rest of the world. His dad could, but there was little to protect Eli from in a kindergarten classroom. Except maybe other five year olds, but they were mostly harmless. Mostly. They were nothing the little werewolf couldn’t handle. Hopefully.
“How about this?” Derek squeezed Eli’s hand. “By the time we pick you up, if you haven’t made a new friend we’ll help you.” Stiles raised an eyebrow at his husband. “We’ll take you to the park after school. There’s bound to be loads of new friends there.”
At the chance of going to the park, Eli visibly perked up. There was nothing the boy loved more than going to the park. He loved to run around until his heart beated twice as fast as any normal human. The duck pond was one of his favorite parts of the park and ever since the first time he had gone, Eli had made friends with all of the ducks.
“You promise?” Eli held out his pinkie to Derek, eyes set on his dad.
Derek held out his pinkie in turn, ignoring Stiles’ snicker of amusement. “Promise.”
Whenever Derek (true alpha always) goes to different packs for pack business (gathering information, building connections, or checking in), he always takes Stiles for many reasons.
Who cares the most? Stiles
Who can be surprisingly diplomatic? Stiles
Who does all the talking? Stiles
Who is bossy? Stiles
Who gets shit done? Stiles
Who supports Derek? Stiles
Stiles cares so much, that he feels the need to always go with Derek (for alone time 😏 or because he doesn’t trust Derek to share all the information to the pack).
Derek shows his support to Stiles, listens carefully to everything said, will add comments when necessary, watch Stiles with wonder and love in his eyes. Derek wants Stiles to go because his beautiful mate and him work so cohesively together. Where one lacks the other excels. Like yin and yang.
The poor puppies mope without their pack mom and pack dad there to care for them but they do enjoy some peace and quiet from time to time.
I 100% believe (just know) that when Coach saw Stiles with Derek during parent-teacher conferences for Eli he just looks Stiles dead in the eyes like, “Bilinski? What the hell.... Who's parent are you?” before checking the schedule and just going, “yeahhhhh... This checks out.”
Can't for the life of me find this fic in my bkmrks (might be deleted). Sterek fic, Stiles is Scott, Erica & Isaacs dad (Erica and Isaac are toddlers in the beginning of the fic), Derek is Allison's adopted brother? (Chris takes him cuz Kate did something?). Things I remember from the fic: mom comes back and Stiles feels obligated to be with her so takes the kids and moves away, Kate escapes jail so Ally and Derek have to hide, Scott takes a bus down to see Derek and he calls Stiles. Pt1/2
You found your own fic @dimeler! Thanks for letting me know.

Mechanic!Derek and Daddy!Stiles
Derek Hale is a mechanic in the sleepy town of Beacon Hills, where he has lived all of his life. He spends his day in a simple routine: wake up, fix cars, go home, sleep. It's what he's good at, and it keeps things simple and uncomplicated. Derek doesn't let people in and remains emotionally distant from everyone except his sister, Laura, and her daughter. This all changes when Boyd tows in an old blue Jeep that needs a lot of work and Derek meets the owner of said Jeep.
Because once Derek meets Stiles and his kids, he can't stop himself from caring. And he doesn't want to stop.
