2000AD Programme 2, dated 6 March 1977. Below, from Collector's Gazette No. 470 (May 2023), the issue sold at auction for £4,800 (with stickers) in March 2023. While he did appear in a couple of preview images (in the first issue and in a preview ad for the comic in other IPC titles) this issue saw the first full appearance of Judge Dredd. Dan Dare meets beloved English professional wrestler, “Big Daddy.” British professional wrestling is slightly different from the American and Mexican varieties, particularly in that it has rounds, like boxing does.

Big Daddy was an attraction, but was getting older by the 1980s, and so he had to be paired with a young, acrobatic, athletic young man as a tag team partner, the Dynamite Kid. The Dynamite Kid would eventually come to the WWF in the 1980s as part of the tag team, the British Bulldogs.
