It's shenanigans time guys

So have this DpxDc idea.

So, the Justice League and the Light (OR villains in general) have two newish members, they've both been around for about a year and they're from the same plane of existence (a place called the Infinite Realms according to those who dabble in the occult)

And the two seem to have some serious beef with each other.

Wisp and Wrath are basicly feral cats hissing and hekles raised when they spot the other and their fights normally ends in draws. They're evenly matched and sometimes the two even fight to the point they are out of steam and just fist fight.

Needless to say everyone believes they totally hate each other and might one day kill (or end?) One of them.

So everything gets turned upside down when suddenly both factions of heros and villains are suddenly summoned to the Infinite Realms.

In a throne room.

In front of the Infinite King (or most commonly known as the Ghost King)

A King who looks very, very much like Wisp and Wrath (like yeah the two do sometimes look alike, like when they grin with sharp teeth and their hair color, but one has blue skin and red eyes for crying out loud!)

He's staring at them, glowing green eyes that seemed to just... know.

"Welcome to the Infinite Realms. I am King Phantom." His voice echoing in the throne room and seemed to rattle them deeply, like a sudden chill in the early morning.

"I have summoned you all here for a single reason." He continued to say "Tell me..."

Here he paused, closed his eyes before leaning back on the chair then he smiled big and cheerfully asked.

"How are my kids doing in your world? Dan and Ellie aren't causing too much chaos in their wake are they? They tend to go a tiny bit overboard sometimes but what siblings don't when they rough house you know. Tell me everything."

So tempted for Space Core Danny with Time Core mentor Clockwork because it would just fit so well. Time and Space. Like I am just so very weak to it. And I want to combine that idea with like, Sun Core Dan and Moon Core Dani just because I think it would be so amazing. 

Maybe also combined with Liminal Jazz and friends- though that would imply them also becoming ghosts once they pass, and I am also here for that.  Space core Danny also fits with the ice since areas of space can get below -400 degrees, which can most definitely flash-freeze something. So there’s his ice abilities makin’ sense in the idea. Alongside other things that I am not researching the science for right now haha

Ok so like. I'll be the first to say I way prefer the music video's version of the World Ender story over the comics. I really like the fire motif Cobb has and personally I think the pacing of the MV's story is better (in the comics he killed Winthrop first and then forms the World Enders gang to help track down the rest vs in the MV him going after the employees first and forming the world enders as he goes along and killing Winthrop at the end).

But. but. ok so his origin in the comic is the same except instead of a house fire, it's a sinkhole below their house. We know the whole Yawning Grave thing and it does later come back in the comic. Additionally, he had actually worked in construction for Winthrop and had actually bought the land from him (while the MV implies Winthrop had started the house fire to acquire the land). The reason Avery goes after revenge this time is because Winthrop had sold the land knowing there was a very big structural issues underneath it but never said anything. Which, while still very evil, is much less actively malicious than him actively setting Cobb's house on fire with him and his family inside. The comics also plays with the flaws in Cobb's idea of justice and if these people are deserving of his vengeance. Specifically, there's a comic page that has this as a sort of narration:

"I suspect there are some who say that Andrew Winthrop is undeserving of such a designation as 'evil'.

Does money lust make you evil? How about ambition?

What if you'll do anything to get it?

Cobb didn't ask for the land documents when Winthrop gave him the plot for his home.

If he had, he would've known about that sleeping sinkhole.

ALL OF WHICH. IS OVERLAYED ON THE SCENE OF HIS HOUSE COLLAPSING INTO THE SINKHOLE. WITH HIS FAMILY INSIDE. AND HIM RUNNING INSIDE TO PULL THEM OUT.

WHICH. FUCKED UP AND EVIL ACTUALLY???

and I'm so so interested in what is going on with him now. the World Ender storyline(s) take place in the 50s, and the latest point we see him is in a brief cameo in Vide Noir (which takes place in 1967). During this time, we know that he passes the leadership of the gang onto Alex. We have no clue 1. why he passed the leadership onto to Alex or at all and 2. what he has been doing in the mean time (is he still with the Enders?? is he still going off killing to try and satisfy his rage??? has he stopped??? has he chilled out or is he still violently angry??? did he ever find a way to undo his immortality???). And then his appearance in Vide Noir just. leaves me with SO many questions. What is he doing in the club at all? Why was he down there? Was he there at all, or was he a hallucination/vision/ghost? why did running into him trigger another time space jump? is it because he's inhuman? what does that mean in terms of his connection to Vide Noir? if he was a ghost/vision/hallucination, what the HELL does that mean in terms of how he's related to Buck?? if he wasn't actually there, why does Buck see him at all when he's got no clue who/what the World Ender even is?? did Cobb know there was something up with him and his fucked up stasis with the universe?? or his encounter with johnnie?? does he know anything about the events of Vide Noir?? what was he doing??? what does it mean what does it MEAN

and then like. what the HELL is the World Ender curse?? is it the specific brand of immortality he has??? Cobb is the only immortal character that we know of, but he's not the only undead character and Secret of Life implies there's more out there (though that could be metaphorical, but its hard to tell when Lost and Time in Space turned out to be literal). The curse is referenced a few times in random places but I've still got no idea what it means. and what the HELL does any of it have to due with the concept of the Yawning Grave. Yawning Grave (the song) is one of the few Strange Trails songs that both has no listed narrator but also with no clear connection to any of the established characters (both then and now). As far as we know, the narrator of Yawning Grave is a deity/force of nature of some kind, but not much more than that. But the comics imply that Cobb probably has got some connection to it. which. how??? in what way??? Is he the actual narrator??? is it just a random lyrical reference or does it have actual effects on the lore?? im so curious about him and even if he's gotten so much content theres still so much about the guy we dont know.

Hehe, seems @fuffywumple and I had the same idea.

Just dropping a note to let y'all G/D peeps know I'm working on a couple of bits. Both are mostly written, but I'm caught between a raging case of brain fog on one hand and the summer heat sapping any motivation I have to do much of anything on the other right now, so progress is patchy. Plus I have a couple of 3D printing jobs to do before I can get on with my own TDF related craft projects.

Oh, and Covid's currently working it's way thru my family. Joy. I've been in contact with peeps who've since tested positive, but all my tests are negative so far.

So essentially, I'm overheated, overwhelmed, can barely string a sentence together, and trying not to catch the Rona, but I'm still here, and still working on stuff.

And still posting my dumb Grace Face Friday thing every week. Aiming to make it all the way to Christmas. Possibly New Year.

"OMA, kill meeeee" Ellie, aka Wrath complained as she allowed her head to 'thunk' on the cafeteria table in the Watchtower she phased into in order to sit in next to a boy dressed in red, yellow, and green.

"Aren't you already halfway there?" Came Robin's response as he took a drink of his water, eyeing his teammate with a raised eyebrow, though it was difficult to tell with his mask in place.

"OMA?" Asked Superboy on the other side of the boy.

"Shush you." She said towards Robin before answering Superboy "Oh my Ancients, it's like OMG but like for us ghosties."

"Tt" "Oh!" Came both their responses.

"So..." began Superboy after a few minutes of silence between them as he looked at Ellie like a confused puppy "Why?"

Ellie groaned and just stayed slumped on the table as she said "Da's dumb Observants council is hosting another dumb ball to try to get him or me hitched again, and like always I'm forced to attend because I'm Da's heir. We both hate it with a passion, most are just stuck up, power hungry, social climbers trying to get into our pants for the royal titles... Espcially if they become our Forevermores."

"Tt, why not just get rid of them? Or simply have your Father dismiss the ball." Robin said, his eye twitching in annoyance just at the thought of it. A ball sounded even more annoying than the gala parties he is made to go to.

"Sounds stressful... Also Forevermores?" Superboy asked, he was always curious of Ellie and her ghost culture but never knew what could be asked or not, he had been warned to never ask how a ghost died after all and that question is normally asked in every ghost hunter video on the internet.

"Forevermores is our term for the ONE. The one and only we will ever be with. Till our final end takes us we are always to be with them only. We are core creatures and bonding on that level is like sacred, we don't rush into bonding like that though. But everyone in the Realms hopes to be either become mine or Da's. And the ball is their best chance at meeting us on neutral grounds." Ellie explained as best as she could for Jon, it was hard trying to explain the type of level a Forevermore was "And to answer you Robin, Da can't. The Observants, despite how annoying they can get with their dumb demands, are part of the system council for the Realms, they're sadly needed to keep things in check hence their name. Da and his friends are still trying to find a loophole to get rid of them though. They were only created when they put Tyrant King to sleep and they still sadly have some backings from other powerful ghosts in the Realms, even an Ancient or two and in order to fully dismiss them we need all Ancients on board. And the ball keeps a lot of ghosts, especially the more powerful ones, errr I guess happy? Most just use it to gossip on neutral grounds, others just like to dance, network, or other junk like that. Basically, when it's not about them trying to get mine or Da's hand in ghost marriage, it's fun so Da can't dismiss it, it'll ruffle to many feathers."

"Wow..." "Tt." Were the response from her teammates.

"Yeah. Da really isn't happy because someone suggested inviting powerful people from a few Mortal Realms this time. Somehow it got approved. So... here." She said as she reached into her own chest, phasing her hand in, and pulled out two green envelopes and placed them on the table in front of them. Both boys stared in surprise to see their names written in dark purple ink and the stylized DP on it.

"CW let me invite you guys personally. Everyone else should be getting theirs in about a few minutes complete with a blaze of green fire and spooky vibes." Ellie said with a strained smile, both happy to invite them but also dreading the questions she'll no doubt have to answer once the invites were sent.

Gotta say, having your main boy group going through enlistment an emotional roller coaster. The only other boy groups I’ve followed has been Shinee and Day6. One was basically in the process while the latter I literally became a fan shortly before Sungjin made the live announcing it.

It just sucks to happen when I’ve been at an all-time low and heavily engaging with K-pop makes it easier to cope with how sucky life (or existing in the states) feels.

thinking about random moments shared in the jamie tartt x psych major!reader fic i have in my head... just cute shit tbh

okay so the reader has been with the Richmond club for a solid few months, she’s a familiar face and friendly to the team but not super close with everybody, minus Colin and surprisingly,,, Jamie hehe

the team seems to be having a serious tie-streak going on, and they’re all kinda bummed by it

Ted’s obviously still Ted, unwavering winners mindset that basically means ‘do your best, give yourself a pat, shake it off, and repeat’ - with the addition of a smile ofc!

the reader has been doing readings for her org psych class and knows that raising group morale is necessary but also so so hard.

sometimes motivational speeches just don’t cut it yknow?? sometimes you gotta think outside of the box to fix the vibes and spread positivity

so there she is, standing in the coach’s office with a bluetooth speaker in her hand, nervously waiting for it to be her turn to speak

“Coach Ted,” she calls him in a manner that’s playful but still professional - he’s insisted on just Ted in the past and she’s complied but for serious conversations, she enjoys leading with a ‘subtle sense of professionalism’

“Coach Ted, how do you feel about group cohesion and dance breaks?” she asks, fiddling with the speaker in her hand

“Well darlin, I love a good flash mob. Gosh, those folks must keep in touch, right?” He directs his eyes to Beard, who peaks over his book and replies affirmingly, “a bond has been formed,” causing both you and Ted to smile

“Well, less flash mob but more like... a bi-weekly dance break?” she continues as Ted’s eyes land on her again. “I know the boys are bummed with the tie-streak and I was reading in my org psych textbook about the importance of autonomy in decorating our workspaces, and how group morale helps cohesion which’ll lead to better attitudes and hopefully better performance - not that our performance has been poor, it’s been great, I’m proud of the boys really! But, it sucks to see them bummed out...So maybe a twice-a-week-song-dance-break will lift spirits??” 

she’s rambling. she’s nervous!! it’s a good idea tbh but still, sharing means being vulnerable and the potential of getting rejected

Ted politely waits for her to finish, nodding along and then grins, “sounds wonderful darlin! Hey, maybe you can get the boys to give some song suggestions to help with the whole autonomy thing you mentioned.” 

she’s happy !! grinning as she steps out to the locker room, dragging out the whiteboard from the corner and scribbling in a lil corner of it

Jamie’s eyes follow her silently. truth be told, they followed her when she entered and disappeared into the coach’s office. but he smiles a lil seeing her grin at herself

when she’s done with the whiteboard, she calls for attention and lets the boys know to write down their suggestions, and she’ll choose two songs for the week randomly!! she emphasizes nervously that it should help according to her textbooks and Jamie is silently nodding, eyes drifting to her hands as she fiddles with the whiteboard marker

Dani is the first to speak, “pardon me, can it be Spanish songs too?” and she smiles really big, “anything you like!!” 

Isaac adds, “yea bruv, I fuck wit Bad Bunny” and there’s a wave of approving noises from the rest

SO, the plan has been implemented, and it’s frickin working!!! 

the boys always look forward to whose song is chosen - lots of rap, some taylor swift, Work Hard Play Hard makes them go nuts, some musical songs from Colin but it’s okay cause the lads are hyped over Hamilton 

Ted gets into it!! dancing!! Dani and Jan Maas share an imaginary mic!! it’s great, but Jamie’s favourite part is seeing her join them in the locker rooms for every dance break grooving to the music

one day SHE chooses the song... “Keep Your Head Up” by Andy Grammer cause the team seemed extra tired and bummed

everyone’s like ??? who chose this?? she’s like ‘me. I did.’

she’s trying to break the tension, so she takes her imaginary mic and goes to Ted, then Colin, then Sam, and soon everyone’s into it - just happily singing and dancing

she somehow ends up next to Jamie, shoulders bumping. she’s swaying as she faces him, playfully mouthing the lyrics to him as he smiles with a slight blush (not that she notices cause she’s blushing too)

they’re both dancing close to each other, and she lightly pokes his chin when the song goes, “you gotta keep your head up”, reaching up to pull down his headband at, “and you can let your hair down,” grinning at him when he’s like ‘hey!! :o... >:)’

the song ends, and they’re still laughing at each other, holding hands...a bit longer than they should tbh hehehe. Jamie loves her energy and kindness, it matches his goofiness and makes him wanna be a better person

but anyways!!! they pull away, hoping no one notices.. some do but don’t say anything

Alexis decided a pour soul's garden needed help, and who's better for the job than the princess herself?

Alexis was tired. This was all such bullshit. Almost half of the solaire clan was invited to some humans house she didn't even know for some sort of party. Why did she come you may ask? She was forced to. She felt like she was watching paint dry. Sitting in a mildly uncomfortable chair, staring at the wall, and glaring at anyone who even thinks about starting another endless boring conversation.

She needed some air. Alexis made her way to the door leading to the backyard and instantly regretted her decision. She was met with an abundance of colorful plants, and even some vegetables. To anyone else it would be gorgeous. Alexis was not anyone else.

The only thing on her mind were the dead plants scattered across places in the garden. She was frankly appalled. Does this person water their plants? They look like they get less sun than she does. Is that even possible?

She walked back inside, her knack for dramatic entrances causing heads to turn her direction. She stormed up to the random human this house belonged to, saying she needed to speak with them, and then dragging them outside by their hand.

Usually, she wouldn't care about something as simple as a humans garden. I mean, not everyone can be as good at it as she is, but she was bored and this gave her something to do.

She turned to face the human who looked surprisingly unconcerned about this turn of events. "I don't think I've met you yet, who are you?" the human asked.

"Alexis. Alexis Solaire. And also, apparently your fucking savoir." She aggressively pointed in the direction of a wilting plant. The human furrowed their brows in confusion looking from the plant to Alexis' face.

"I am going to help you fix this shit. You are going to have no complaints and do what I tell you to, got it?" Alexis was already on the move before she even finished talking, grabbing a pair of gardening gloves and tossing them at the human.

They looked confused again but ultimately followed her lead. Alexis kneeled down in the grass in front of a dead plant, already way too far gone. She patted a spot in the grass next to her, indicating the human to sit with her.

As soon as they sat down, she handed them a shovel. She explained that it would be best to dig the plant up as it was very much dead and "looked far too ugly". As soon as they picked up the shovel, she explained step by step how they're supposed to do it without damaging anything else.

She was so immersed in her explanation that she wasn't really focusing on anything else. The human however, was focusing on anything but the dead plant.

Alexis, clearly proud of her vast gardening knowledge, had changed her tone completely. The once frustrated princess' voice has now gone soft. The explanation feeling less and less like a lecture and more like a soothing conversation. There was a slight smile on her face. She was probably just happy to be talking about one of the only things she actually liked doing. Well, maybe she also liked showing off. Just a little bit.

The human smiled at her. She paused her gardening ramble, which was definitely going off course from the original topic, staring at their face. Why were they smiling?

She had never gotten to talk about this hobby of hers to anyone. Not anyone that cared. Years of ignoring people and not caring what they had to say had caused people to do the same to her. She never minded. She never really understood the appeal of talking to people for hours on end like most.

Yet for some reason, seeing this human, who had no idea who she even was, was smiling at her. They were smiling because of what she said. It felt good.

For the first time somebody had actually smiled a real smile because of her and it felt fucking amazing.

Alexis realized that she had been staring at this person and immediately looked away, her cold face suddenly feeling hot. She noticed that they had already finished digging up the plant while she was rambling.

"Should I do the other ones too?" The human asked, pointing to the other 2 or 3 dead plants.

Alexis shook her head. She finally had someone who would listen to her. She wanted them to be completely focused on her. She had no idea why.

This was just a normal human who she didn't even know about half an hour ago. A random person who was kind enough to listen to her talk about plants. A normal person she couldn't give less of a shit about.

So how come she was now sitting on the grass when everyone else had long since left, asking this human if it was okay to stay for just an hour longer?

Pls share more goated thought on Pol x Marc

BASICALLY, marc and pol are an acquired taste because it only makes sense if you lean in on the silliness that are marc and pol as an individual and together. forget marc cold-blooded racing attitude, marco polo is about treating marc (and pol) as a bunch of silly people who grew up together in a brutal environment that is professional racing.

under the cut AGAIN bc i'm rambling.....

pol said that he used to beat marc a lot on track growing up and marc probably spent a lot of time looking at pol as a standard to reach and overcome (ik he's like dani is my reference growing up yeah not a lie but pls you wanted to beat pol lmao) ALSO marc always goes on about your teammate is the first opponent you want to beat and who was one of his first teammates? YES POL ! he learned all that from pol, according to my sources (my habit of making headcanons)

also you know how marc tried to fit in with dani jorge vale and all of that..... but he doesn't really have to act all tough and shit to impress pol because pol has already known marc since he was a tiny little kid who spent time crashing around. i know when they argue, they would bring up the most random embarrassing on-track moments that happened growing up to the other.

AND ITS SOOOOO NATURAL for them to tease each other.... like they spent their whole lives doing exactly that. there is no surviving video content of marc/jorge teammate era to compare but you can compare marc/dani content with marc/pol and while it's both friendly and marc has fun there's a kind of freedom in the way marc doesn't pull his punches back with pol <3

Wow you guys weren't kidding when you said those people are obsessed with Arya and her being pretty or whatever. I was interested in the post but then it just devolves into random rambling about Arya and how she looks as pretty as Lyanna and- I'm sorry but how is any of that important and why are they so pressed about it?

Also- accusing people of reducing Lyanna to a sex slave to Rhaegar??? When did that happen? Or are they pressed because people rightfully bring up how the R/L shit isn't romantic? Thats not 'reducing' Lyanna, thats calling the horrible thing that happened to her what is it. Twisting it into a star crossed lovers story or romanticizing it is even WORSE and just makes her into someone who's apparently so in love with Rhaegar she's willing to RUN AWAY WITHOUT TELLING HER FAMILY to be with him. Thats not any better and just reduce her to her relationship with that albino prince. HE'S not the most important aspect of Lyanna's character, her relationship with her FAMILY is.

I don't delve into ASOIAF tags much but good grief, no wonder you block a lot lmao. That one post was enough for me. That faction of the fandom seems unhinged and not in a fun way

Arya fans tend to be very aggressive, and I often don’t think their rage makes much sense. Arya was incredibly popular on the show, but they used to make these angry posts about how everyone ignored her which made no sense to me until I realized, they meant because no one but their circle believes she will a) have a romance with Jon, b) become QitN. People write about the themes in her story, there’s lots of spec now about her endgame, none of it is enough. It’s the same way everyone acknowledges her and Sansa’s fraught relationship, but they claim it’s ignored because unless you say Sansa was a bully, you’re doing it wrong.

I don’t know anything about that particular blogger, but a lot of Jonry@s believe Lyanna went willingly with Rhaegar and ship them. This one sounded different to me, like they did want to emphasize her family instead, but minimizing what she went through during the last year of her life isn’t how that’s done.

Although, my heterodox belief is that I’m now pretty convinced that Lyanna went with Rhaegar willingly. I had a series of asks about Targ stuff popping up in Sansa chapters which changed my mind about how R/L unfolded. I think Martin gave us parts of Lyanna’s story in Sansa’s:

Sansa’s “betrayal” of her family (which I don’t actually consider one but you know) isn’t a necessary part of Ned dying (he had already gone to Cersei), but it would allow for a point of connection between her and Lyanna. Sansa wanted her prince (a Baratheon) so she defied her father, Lyanna didn’t want her Baratheon so ran with her prince, defying her father. There are lots of parallels and even direct comparisons between Sansa and Lyannna, so I think it’s likely to lay the groundwork for later revelations about R+L=J.

Also, Lyanna is a play on the Virgin Mary and Rhaegar has some similarities to the Biblical King David (the jealous, crazy guy he’s meant to replace, the harp playing, stealing another man’s “wife,” the “savior” coming from his bloodline etc), so even though Martin has given him an ulterior motivation with Lyanna (he did take advantage, he isn’t being whitewashed), I’m thinking there are more interesting ideas in there than strictly infatuated prince or sadistic, rapist, bastard. That idea, well, I just don’t think Martin’s been spinning out his R/L story this long for the conclusion to be that Robert Baratheon was right all along. I don’t think Dany’s view of Rhaegar is correct either, imo, it’s a mixture.

It’s still a pretty disturbing story, almost like a horror version of the archetypal virgin mother? What can you do when an all-powerful being decides you’re his incubator? It’s def still a possibility Martin takes that to the darkest possible place, but my expectation of getting Jonsa makes me think Lyanna’s reaction to/potential feelings for Rhaegar shouldn’t be brushed aside. Sansa is charmed by Joffrey’s singing, we know Lyanna wept over Rhaegar’s. Jon is hit pretty hard by Ygritte’s singing as well, so that’s a specific thing Martin likes to use as part of romantic relationships. The bigger idea behind Rhaegar may be what a prophecy / the belief of being the chosen one and then the belief you must create the chosen one…an examination of what you can do to achieve that end, the wrong you can justify in its pursuit. Even so, I’m pretty sure there will be more nuance than either “side” of the convo likes to offer because Martin writes that into most of his villains, and I’m sure he intended to with Rhaegar as well.

I personally hate Rhaegar, I’ll never forgive him for what happened to Rhaenys which is just, the most brutal of lines to me,

It was Ser Amory who brought me the girl's body, if you must know. He found her hiding under her father's bed, as if she believed Rhaegar could still protect her

and he really annoys me because he had power to do something about his dad and the fate of Westeros and just, fucked everything up in the most egregious, offensive, public way he could? All the same, how I feel is a distinct thing from what Martin intended. 🤷🏻‍♀️
