bittersweet ~ a yandere!John Wick x fem!reader sunshine/grump coffee shop AU... Part 7 all chapters

I knew the pleasure of vexing and soothing him by turns; it was one I chiefly delighted in.

-It's no real mystery, why you dig out your beloved old copy of Jane Eyre. From the early 1900s, it had seen better days when you’d scored it in the local used book store, many years ago. You’d been a teenager then—and those days were long behind you. It seems you never outgrew your liking of a dark and broody anti-hero.

It’s safer to read about it though, than pursue the real thing.

Lately every time Mr. Wick comes into the shop you feel slightly agitated, as though you don’t quite fit into your own skin. You remember the sensation of his fingertips on yours, like a burn.

Mr. Wick sees you reading your tattered novel on your break, but doesn’t comment. You’ve seen him with old classics in hand and reckon he must be something of an aficionado.  

You put it away in your shoulder bag in the back after the break.

The next day, it’s gone.

You know you left it in your bag. Where the fuck could it have gone? Why would someone fucking steal it?

A couple of weeks later, it reappears on the counter by the register you favor.

You hardly recognize it at first, for it has received an encompassing makeover. It has new leather covers with gorgeous embossed gold lettering, and marbled end papers, and the tattered thread of the binding repaired. There are gilded arabesques on the spine and delicately drawn climbing flowers on the cover. You wouldn’t have even thought it the same book, if not for the intricately printed title page unique to your edition, with an old pencil mark in the corner you recognize.

Such a restoration would have cost a fortune.

You knew, because you’d looked into it.  

Further compounding the mystery, there is a beautiful jacquard embroidered ribbon bookmark inside. It’s on the page where Rochester has sat Jane down in the arbor, and is telling her that she has rejuvenated him from his unhappy existence without actually admitting anything, asking in the most roundabout way possible if it would be so very bad to take a second wife who would make him a new man, while his first is still living, the big idiot.

“Is the wandering and sinful, but now re-seeking and repentant, man justified in daring the world’s opinion, in order to attach to him for ever this gentle, gracious, genial stranger, thereby securing his own peace of mind and regeneration of life?”

Jane tells him, of course, that a man shouldn’t base his redemption on another person, but within himself. You are not sure you would have had the strength to speak so frankly to a man you secretly loved.

Well, maybe you would.

You are utterly mystified by the whole thing, to say the least.

But later, you are browsing the local book store, and the owner is reading Anna Karenina in what looks like freshly bound leather. The style looks familiar.

“Did you have that restored?” you ask, feeling like Nancy Drew hot on the trail of a fresh lead.

“Yeah, that new guy in town, John Wick did it for me. He says he’s just a hobbyist, but he does amazing work. Usually you have to send off to Florence for quality like this, seriously. It’s a dying art.”

Darren lets you look at the book, and you are impressed by the craftsmanship.

The spine decoration matches yours. There is a plate in the back that proclaims: Bound by John Wick.

The sneak.

You are touched to the tips of your toes, your heart filled with butterflies. Was the bookmark purposely left on that page, or just a random placement?

You hardly dare hope, and tell yourself it’s an invention of your own fancy. The gift of the book is magnificent enough. No need to further muddle things with secret communications that aren’t really there.

The next day you approach Mr. Wick’s table with hands on your hips, affecting annoyance. “You stole my book.”

He actually has the grace to look sheepish about it, casting those lovely dark eyes downwards.

“Yeah.”

“Thanks. I really love it.” It’s the understatement of the century.

He looks up through his hair, the surprised sparkle in his eyes taking your breath away. Suddenly, he looks ten years younger.  

“Yeah?”

The corners of your mouth twitch. This man speaks like he’s paying five cents per word, you swear. “Yeah. Why didn’t you tell me you bind books?”

He just shrugs, and you cannot help but laugh.

“I’ve never owned anything so fine. Thank you, truly.”

 He nods again, and you sense that you’re maybe making him uncomfortable with your gratitude. You suspect it’s not why he did it at all.

“Will you show me sometime? How you do it?”

There is a flash of something dark in his eyes before he turns his attention back down to his own book. It feels like dismissal, but you have no idea what he’s hiding underneath it all.

Still waters run deep.

“Anytime you want,” he offers as you turn to go.  

You smile at him over your shoulder as you go back to your station, a secret lightness fluttering in your heart. On your break you flip through your refurbished book once more, taking even more pleasure in it knowing that John poured over every detail of it. You don’t know much about bookbinding or leather work, but you suspect he freehanded the little flowers on the front, and that moves you to your toes.

You flip to one of your favorite scenes because you find it so funny, when Jane puts out the fire that nearly burned Rochester up in his sleep, because undoubtedly he’d drank too much earlier to easily rouse, the lovesick scoundrel. Afterwards he doesn’t want her to leave but can’t outright keep her in his room without behaving an absolute blackguard.

“Strange energy was in his voice, strange fire in his look.”

You cannot help but glance up at your tall dark bookworm in the corner, an aching warmth spreading in your heart for the sight of his furrowed brow, his concentration (you think) focused on the tome in his hands.

You know you are a ridiculous thing.

Steve is new to the music industry, he had worked as a teacher at Hawkins Middle School for six years after Venca, but now he's basically got his name in lights wherever he goes. Everything went by in a flash when it happened, the phone call saying he got the record deal, the congratulations from his friends and moving to New York with Robin. Now he was about to go on his own tour for his album “Sweetheart”, the album he had written for Eddie. (all steves songs are taylor swift songs)

Eddie’s been in the music industry for eight years now, he’s learned the ins and outs and all the ways to work the system. THe only thing is he isn’t exactly “Eddie Munson” in the industry. After everything that happened in Hawkins. The murder accusations, Chrissy’s death, Vecna. He couldn’t handle being Eddie anymore, the doc Hopper had introduced him to had set up an alternative life for Eddie after he reached out three months in Hawkins. Now he had his new band and a new life as Darren Mack. Their band Raining Hellfire was world famous and they were about to go on tour.

A collection of letters written to Edward "Eddie" Munson of Corroded Coffin during his 4 month coma in 1986. These letters were written from friends and family when they were struggling with their losses and the fear they would lose Edward as well. This collection was published in 1996 after Edward came out as gay and announced his queer relationship with well known human rights activist Steven "Steve" Harrington.

This leads him to call in a favour from Chief of Police Jim Hopper, who knows that Steve dosen't live in a great environment.

Steve nurses Robin back to health while trying to figure out who beat up this best friend and deals with his own trauma from his problematic father.

Everything goes down hill when Steve find out their venue has been double booked and he now has to do a show with Eddie and his new band Raining Hellfire.

I don't know anyone in 2020 who doesn't online shop besides my 80 year old grandparents because they refuse to learn how to use a computer 😂 I don't get how Will, a 30 something year old man, online shopping is worthy enough for Abby to comment on it. I'm sure Chris does it too. And Darren.

On Nov 5, Darren wrote this post and the cc fandom lost their shit.    

They decided that organizing 10 costumes for multiple events in two different states for two different people was not worthy of acknowledgment- especially since they wore several purchased costumes. They spent the next 30-ish days mocking her “online shopping skills” like the petty idiots they are and now they bring it up two months later. 

Anonymous asked: this is funny, C posted a photo of beard, D posted photos with the beard. Almost like they were sitting next to each other and saying “ok ok I will say this”

ajw720 answered: The only difference, C controls his SM and the bearding, D does not, but they knew the Halloween post was coming when C posted his belated b-day wishes (not that he acknowledged they were late).  

It really is, if you can remove the very human, tragic element, like a script for a really bad D Movie.  C posts “Happy Birthday, Babe!” a day after the man’s actual b-day and “D” praises his fake bride for MAKING TEN costumes.  Sure praise her if she actually designed them and sat with her sewing machine.  No, she went online and ordered things (I doubt she even went to a store).   And 3 couple costumes were cheap frankly.  The only thought was how narcissistic she could be in their execution (as @flowersintheattic254pointed out even the Mario costume had  a reason, it was a reminder of Japan and the fake encagement by referring to the ad that paid for their trip there).

And seriously how are people not questioning that she spent the entirety of her month picking TEN costumes?  Who has time for this?  I know, i know, a person whose only role in life is to play fake plus one.

I am just so tired by D in particular being utterly dragged down by the useless dead weight by his side and his team’s sole ambition to promote her and make her sound like a decent person.  

If they wanted to praise her, maybe they should have forced her to participate in the zero waste initiative instead of sitting drinking by the pool or have her volunteer to help young girls who have been kicked out of their homes, or have been raped.  Or pick any cause and truly volunteer her time to promote it.  If she is not going to actually get a job and pursue a career, please force her to do something that is actually of value and contribute something good to the world. But to praise her for picking TEN costumes?  

Praise that comes from a man who this year alone won three awards, is starring in a show he created and wrote the music for, has his first big movie premiere this week, is exec producer and star of a huge show on N/etflix, just announced his starring role with 2 A++ lists actors next spring on Broadway, celebrated the 5th anniversary of the festival he created, volunteered his time for the zero waste initiative, performed at several charity events, and was just yesterday name limited series actor of the decade.  Where is the praise for him from his “bride”?  He at least deserves it.

How do they not see how ridiculous it is for someone with D’s accomplishments in 2019 alone praise a person for purchasing TEN costumes for Halloween?  And stans, how do you accept that this is right or normal.  You really know nothing about him and have such little respect for him as a person if you continue to accept the character his idiotic team has created on his behalf.  It is so far from the person he is and that he generally holds himself out to be when given the opportunity.  

This isn’t about being a “gay fetishist” or “hating woman” this is about wanting for D to be fairly and accurately represented and no longer forced to participate in this stupid, life sucking game to promote a person that contributes absolutely nothing to the world.  If you want to have a strong female role model, there are so many, i’ve talked about a few in the past few days (thus far Nancy, Lea, and Phoebe) and will continue to do so, but please stop worshiping a person whose sole reason you are speaking about her is her connection to D, even if you refuse to accept it is fake.

And all I can think of is how irrelevant the statement D made about being an emotional horder, being a very private person and finally D saying he's lazy when it comes to social media, I'm internally screaming in frustration because yeah we know D wouldn't have written a post praising that lazy good for nothing waste of space but he's coming across as a lier and it's extremely damaging to his character as a person. I absolutely hate lying and every time another "private" moment is posted to the world is another small piece that's chipped away from what D has originally stated about privacy. PBB, nobody cares about your cheap arse highly flammable costumes you buy online, did you forget about your piano baby adult strip club. I'm sure there are still plenty of people out there you can hire to rub and flaunt their flanges all over the beer taps, why don't you keep busy on that instead. If you want to make costumes, I'm sure you can sew some mighty fine titty tassels together. It'll be cheap nasty, sound familiar.

souly So, let me get this straight. We should all praise a person for going online, looking up different costumes in online stores, putting those in their shopping basket and hitting “buy”? Because I do that at least once a week with other stuff. Do I get praised for that now? Pretty please? I’m doing good work there and buy a lot of stuff, therefore I must be the best person ever!

With only two weeks left in the decade, I took a thorough look back at the last ten Bryan Awards (with the last nine of them being recorded as annual podcasts for WCRS FM), and picked the Best of the Best since the 2010 Bryan Awards (or programs that aired since January 1, 2010, and airing up until the cut-off for this September’s Bryan Awards, which was May 31, which would eliminate the likes of Mrs. Fletcher, Season 2 of Big Little Lies, plus newbies like On Becoming A God in Central Florida, Perfect Harmony, the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and this week’s A Christmas Carol).

Here are the Guidelines Chosen for both this and the Silver Garbage Awards Worst of the Decade: - Eligibility Period is January 1, 2010 to May 31, 2019. - Glee is being entered for New Series of the Decade, because it won the 2010 Bryan Award in that race, despite it debuted in 2009. - Younger Acting will be merged through the genres: Daytime, Comedy, Drama, and Limited Series.  And if an actor turned 26 doesn't really matter, as long as 50% of their nominations were before they were 26. - Big Little Lies (Season 1), Orange Is the New Black, and Downton Abbey are Dramas.  Shameless is a Comedy.  True Detective is a Longform, as is American Horror Story, and ALL seasons will be lumped into one for Anthology Stories. - Sherlock and Sharknado are being entered for ALL of their movies, ditto for Black Mirror episodes, in the Longform races. - There will be separate Lead and Supporting Acting races for Comedy and Drama Bryan Awards, but NOT for Silver Garbage. There were more difficult scenes this week as Stuart, Jonny and Ste stepped up their campaign of terror against the Maalik’s. At the start of the week, Leela was still getting up to speed on what had been going on in her absence and, believing that Amir was responsible for the trouble, confronted the delivery driver. However, with a little help from Sami and Yasmine, Leela came to see that Amir and his brother, Shahid, had been victimised by Stuart and Jonny and so she demanded that Jonny move out. Unfortunately for Leela, she hadn’t been prepared for Ste announcing that he was going too and despite her insistence that Leah and Lucas stayed put, Ste decided to uproot them yet again. 

The following morning, news broke that Shahid and Amir’s takeaway had been broken into and the Maalik’s were also left devastated when a packet of bacon was posted through their letterbox. The whole family went to the teahouse to confront Stuart, Jonny and Ste, who feigned ignorance and mocked the family for their beliefs. Imran attempted to stand up for himself, but Misbah could see that he was becoming tense and dragged him away before the situation turned violent. Once they had left, Stuart announced that Imran needed to be taught a lesson, words which were overheard by his young son, Sid. Back at the Maalik’s, Misbah recounted her own experiences of racist bullying in her youth, and told Imran how proud she was of him for standing up for her. However, things were about to get a whole lot worse for the family when Sid told Sally that Imran had threatened to blow up the school...

Of course, Sally took this incredibly seriously and she called in ‘Prevent’, an organisation working to prevent radicalisation. Two officers called round to speak to Misbah and Imran, who were both left devastated by the allegations. Luckily, the situation resolved itself fairly quickly and the officers were satisfied that nothing was amiss where Imran was concerned. However, they shared with Sally their concerns that Imran was a victim of racial bullying and she quickly called Misbah and Imran into school to reassure them that she would do everything in her power to keep Imran safe. Unfortunately, keeping Imran safe at home was soon about to become a whole lot more difficult when the pair returned from the meeting to find that Jonny and Ste had moved into Cindy’s old place next door...

Meanwhile, Max confided in Breda that he felt like Mercedes didn’t want him around. Despite Breda doing her best to put his mind at rest, the youngster’s fears were seemingly confirmed when he overheard her arguing with Breda, telling her that it was only natural that she should love Bobby more. The following morning, Mercedes was shocked when Russ’ younger sister, Nicole, arrived at The Dog, announcing that Max had contacted her. Mercedes was devastated when Max revealed that he wanted to go to Greece to live with Nicole. Luckily for Mercedes, Nicole wasn’t entirely sold on the idea, telling Mercy that she felt the upheaval of Max moving away from all he knows so soon after losing Russ could be detrimental. In a bid to persuade her nephew to stay put, Mercedes organised a special dinner for him and Bobby but, although Max was touched by the gesture, he refused to reconsider leaving the village.

Elsewhere, Maxine was furious when she found Damon working on The Loveboat, reminding him of his promise to take time off. However, Maxine soon found the spotlight back on her when she instinctively grabbed a falling banner with her ‘bad’ arm.  Later, Maxine overheard Jack complaining about his new heart tablets and retrieved them from the bin when he threw them away. After taking a few of the tablets, Maxine collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where the doctors decided to run some tests. Of course, this was very bad news for Maxine, and when her pleas to forgo a blood test fell of deaf ears, she swapped her sample for someone else’s when Mitchell’s back was turned. Later that day, the results were in, and Mitchell was left baffled by the fact that they seemed to show that Maxine had an infection. Despite her having no other symptoms, he placed her on a course of antibiotics. Having done a runner from the hospital earlier in the day, Damon was back and, with a little help from Mitchell, proposed to Maxine. Of course, she said yes!

In other news this week, James bought Harry a car. Unfortunately, Romeo assumed it was for him and James didn’t have the heart to correct him! Nancy confronted Kyle over his lies and he admitted that he used to steal to fund various business schemes whilst Cleo (and Walter!) were delighted when she was offered a job at the hospital. Finally, Ollie and Brooke made plans to sleep together, and the whole family got involved in the preparation! 

5 Things We Learned This Week:

1. What’s a Doctor’s job these days? To diagnose illnesses? To organise and run medical tests? To deliver bad news to sick patients? To use an x-ray machine in a proposal? What? That’s not part of the job description! You’d have thought given the high accident rate in the village, Mitchell would have better things to do than faff about helping Damon propose to Maxine!

2. Condoms in Prince Slice are 2 for 1. Finally someone’s trying to do something about the appalling birth rate in this village! 

3. Mercedes needs some cookery lessons as it was revealed this week that spag bol is the only thing she can make. No wonder Max wants to go and live with Nicole. The poor kid probably hasn’t had a decent meal since he moved in with Mercy! 

4. Someone needs to order some new clothes for Brooke, Ollie and Imran. When was the last time these three were seen not wearing their school uniform? And why were Brooke and Ollie wearing it at home when they were on a study day? Anyone would think they didn’t have anything else to wear!

5. Kyle wants to start up a delivery service at The Hutch. How long before he’s delivering more than just pompous food?
