This Midtown brute was built as “The Bramalea Building.” The name faded with the company though. • • • #igerstoronto #toronto #ontario #canada #urban_toronto #torontophotography #1971 #brutalism #lookup #davisville #midtowntoronto #concrete #crangandboakearchitects (at 1867 Yonge Street) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClBfrwqg-aW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Canada’s first subway opened along Yonge, running 4.6 miles from Union to Eglinton in 1954.
The first stretch of the Yonge Street line took four years to build and was designed to move a peak load of 40,000 people per hour in the downtown core. It opened in 1954.

The Felicity Ace was a 200 m roll-on/roll-off car carrier. On February 10, 2022, she left Emden, Germany for Davisville, Rhode Island, USA, with a cargo of almost 4000 cars of various Volkswagen Group brands, including luxury brands like Porsche, Bentley, and Lamborghini. Six days later, on February 16, a fire started while the Felicity Ace was about 200 nautical miles from the Azores. The 22 crew members were evacuated by the Portuguese navy, leaving the Felicity Ace adrift on fire.
On February 25, the Portuguese navy reported that the fire had gone out and that the Felicity Ace was being towed to a "safe area" off the Azores. However, on March 1, the Felicity Ace capsized and sank in waters some 3000 m deep.
No crew members were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown. The cars onboard were estimated to be worth more than $400 million.

Some friends and railroaders gathered in the pouring rain for a little private photo charter on Rhode Island's own little railroad, the Seaview Transportation Company. The little Seaview Transportation Company doesn't have much in the way of scenery or geographic features along its 7 miles of 'mainline' across the Quonset Business Park on the east shore of Narragansett Bay. About the only spot of note is this deep cut through Devil's Foot Rock just west of the US Route 1 overpass at about MP 1.5 where the two legs of the railroad split to the waterfront in Quonset and Davisville respectively. The road's primary locomotive had been hand washed only a few days prior by the road's new VP (and me!) and hasn't looked this good in years. The rain really saturated the fall leaves and the vibrant blue making for a better scene than we expected. SVTX GP10 1855 was built as a GP9 in Aug. 1956 for the Baltimore and Ohio as their #6467. Later rebuilt by ICG's Paducah Shop she bounced around on different shortlines until coming to Rhode Island in 2006 where she was given this snappy paint job. Art postcard size prints of a few of my paintings. They're 4" x 6" (inches) of Toronto subway stations :D. I've been considering retiring these so I will not be reprinting them, last chance to get them until they sell out. :)
