#sukuna #jjk spoilers #I’m not smart enough to talk about this but 1) love a little symbolic cannibalism/hunger thing going on #and 2) Im interested in seeing what Sukuna’s end is and if we’ll get more of his past #I remember when people theorized that sukuna in that jogo scene #where jogo asks ‘what is this’ and sukuna replies with ‘idk either’#that it was a result of Yuuji’s self breaking through when complimenting jogo #but I like that it’s more clear that that IS who sukuna is #it’s a little more complex than a simple generic villain #which I appreciate bc honestly he’s never been my favorite of the villains #and partially that WAS bc I think some things are lost in translation (also dub makes him seem SO casual like just some guy lol)#I find him most interesting with these moments #and it’s funny comparing his interactions with others vs yuuji in hindsight #ok that’s enough rambling in the notes. yes I’m back to enjoying sukuna more now that gojo vs sukuna is over and he’s in his original form #I’m VERY excited for that scene animated soon and his censored powers #I’ve talked a lot about how much I love jogos death scene it’s definitely up there in moments I love from the series

watching the death note jdrama. its so overly serious it's just so funny, somehow even more than the anime (potato chip scene included) which is A LOT.

#the production is so shitty but it somehow it makes it better #adaptation wise is really good aside a few changes that are questionable #they merged the manga and the anime so that's good #but light's character is lacking depth #especially in the explanation for his motives. it is less sudden than in the anime but less complex than in the manga #L is also different. i like this pettiness they added to him is so funny #and his actor (and matsuda's!!!) are sooo gender envy its insane #also ryuk plays a more active role here i like that #im curious for misa though #also #near&mello early intro !!! i loved loved that gives them more space to develop i hoping on that #thats it enough 1st episode rambling #but i will be back (menacingly)#death note #death note drama

Okay I elaborated plenty on my thoughts on unrequited sskk in the last ask but “oh you're finally done with your sskk unrequited love agenda” may as well be the funniest thing anyone has ever said to me. Long story short the anime may have deleted its potential canon basis and the manga may have disproven it in the meantime anyway but I'm taking my unrequited sskk agenda with me to the grave by sheer power of not caring about what canon says

#I feel like people perceive me as a strong unrequited sskk supporter because.#Well I guess it's not that common to ship something but also believe it's unrequited (???)#But jokes aside realistically it's not like I like unrequited sskk more than requited sskk.#I've probably made as much Atsushi loves Akutagawa posts as I did regarding unrequited sskk #I just think. It's a funny concept to explore!!#And I also think reading Atsushi and Akutagawa as if they got together in like chapter 36 is diminishing their complex and multilayered–#relationship and overall just missing out on a lot of fun #But my favorite fics are still domestic sskk happily loving each other in the end it's not that deep ahah #I just have fun pondering over one concept and then the other isn't this what enjoying media is all about #people asks me stuff #On a different note made a typo on a sentence that was later quoted 12 death 62 injured

fate is, for the most part, a good arthurian adaptation, but somehow fgo manages to be so godawful when it comes to everything round table that it single-handedly manages to cancel that out and make fate as a whole a kinda bad adaptation

#the complete and utter misunderstanding of everything and everyone involved is shocking #gawain in extra is a villain and thus doesn't get much deep exploration but still. it's all bc he's deeply chivalrous and loyal above all #which is in line with his medieval counterpart!! and while i'm still a little bit bitter he's not rider class and wish he had a bit more #influence from certain arthurian traditions. it's understandable that japanese speakers wouldn't have access to most arthurian texts #(as translations of medieval arthurian literature into a language like /english/ are already sorely lacking)#but i can just hold out for a hypothetical walewein (berserker) to show up karl der große/charlemagne style #extra gawain is fine. he serves his purpose and doesnt directly contradict his medieval characterization. his sun powers are even included!#and then in fgo he kills his brother which is. medieval gawain is defined by being a little bit mad about family.#he quite literally causes THE FALL OF CAMELOT bc lancelot (who he's said to love more than anyone) accidentally kills his brothers #and gawain becomes obsessed with revenge. forces arthur into a war against lancelot. and then he dies (how depends on the text)#medieval gawain is willing to forgive the death of his own mother (who is someone i have strong feelings about. don't worry) bc his brother #was the one behind it. in What world would he be willing to kill gaheris!!!#agravain is. eugh. medieval agravain is beautiful. chivalrous and charismatic. he also has a bit of a complex surrounding being compared to #his brother gaheris which manifests as an obsessive desire to kill and (essentially) replace him.#and. while he does a lot of other scheming. largely in regards to lancelot who he's also a little bit obsessed with.#it's also important that he thinks that everything he does not in regards to gaheris is good and right and will save camelot #fate agravain is an evil royal advisor from a children's cartoon. which sucks bc he could easily be a delightfully complex villain #or even a tragic hero if he was actually in-line with his medieval self #no notes on mordred or artoria. whether that's bc they were already well-established enough in other installments to not get butchered #or if i just forgot bc i like to try and mentally block out fgo on most days is 50/50 #morgan i try to block out but the conflation of her with her sister morgause and both ladies of the lake is. rlly bad.#bc she's a good portrayal of morgan but a horrible portrayal of the other three #it leaves vivvianne and nimue sorely underutilized. and as for morgause it's just. morgan could have still evilly influenced mordred if he #was her nephew and. on top of being boring and unoriginal. and messing up the timeline of artoria's rule. it eliminates morgause as a #possible character in fate. which sucks bc she's fascinating in medieval texts.#and as for tristan and bedivere. they aren't atrociously bad or anything they're just underutilized. if you're going to summon a bunch of #round table servants at once and pit them all against bedivere there's absolutely no reason not to include kei.esp considering how likely #it'd be for him to side with his little sister no matter what and the fact that they're Always mentioned in tandem with each other #and tristan should've had a madness enhancement bc love potion. he should only be able to think clearly if isolde is there as well.#but those are less criticisms of what the text did than criticisms of what the text Could have easily done so like i said.

What headcannons do you have on B during his career (for a lack of a better word) as a serial killer? To me, he's like one of the funniest characters but also the most pathetic in the most poetic try-hard way. Why do you think he's such a try-hard? He's coping but what is he coping from?

OMG B!!! Haven't thought about my favourite stupid son B enough lately, so thank you for this ask....

So he's a try-hard because he is probably VERY INSECURE, to be blunt. He probably has very little sense of self-worth or a concrete sense of identity outside of trying to one-up L, and he takes that to the extreme in a highly comical way. He's also no doubt traumatized from his insane childhood as a shinigami hybrid who watched many people (including both his parents) die while knowing they were going to die / was also raised very weirdly and abusively/experimentally at Wammy's and made to feel like he was only worth something if he could be as smart and talented as the legendary L. In his mind he decided that creating his own destiny would be better and rebelled against that expectation by being like, "why be the next L when instead I could DEFEAT L by creating a brilliant crime that he can't possibly solve?"

ANYWAY there's a reason he is the most creepypasta villain / emo boi / dark academia darling of the fandom, and that highly melodramatic backstory is a huge part of it - which I DO love dearly in its own mid 2000s way, even though I also sometimes sigh at it because of the extra villainous cartoony edge it adds to L's backstory, and don't always want to take it very seriously as part of L's characterization in the manga plot...

So on my most recent re-read of the LABB novel, I feel I was a bit struck by just how... Not Good B's impression of L actually is? And this was kind of hilarious to me to think about. I feel like when I was younger and really into shipping LxB I read it just as "clearly B has a massive crush on L and is doing his best to imitate him perfectly because he hero worships him and sincerely wants to be him so bad!" HOWEVER this time around I remember thinking something along the lines of "wow, this feels almost like B just googled how to cosplay L and then lazily threw something together 5 minutes before crawling under the bed", hahaha. So he either just kinda sucks at imitating L (and maybe so, but he also managed to trick the families of the victims into letting him investigate the crime scenes, so he's probably not THAT bad at acting when he wants to be?) or maybe he's intentionally trying to make a mockery of L. It is ALSO FASCINATING from a psychological POV to imagine he's just being a troll about it all and trying to make fun of L with how he behaves! Like! Was he intentionally mocking L with his impression of him to somebody who would never even get the stupid joke in the first place? If that's the case, it's excruciatingly cringy to me that nobody even gets his joke the entire time, hahaha.... poor Naomi suffered more than Jesus at some points during that investigation, I swear...

B trying to do a scathing impression of L to somebody who has never even met him before:

ANYWAYS. I think that whatever the case, he PROBABLY hoped/expected L himself was going to show up to the crime scene to confront him, at any rate. And so therefore he probably initially dressed up as L not to genuinely pass to anybody as L, but maybe expecting to do some ominous dark mirror/ arch-nemesis big reveal shit to L?? Perhaps once he realized that Naomi was the only one coming / was working for L he just changed gears a bit and decided he'd just lead her through the clues as best he could while trying out this cosplay of the guy that he wants to offend most, but this is in my mind pretty much how it must have gone.

One of my fave headcanons about him is that he re-read that crossword puzzle he made / that the police threw out without solving SO MANY times while he was sweating off his makeup under the bed, as well... that's why he had to show it to Naomi as soon as he got out... he was like "I PUT A LOT OF WORK INTO THIS DAMMIT, and SOMEBODY is going to appreciate it" hahahaha. Ohhh, B....

#like i LOVE B #but i also think he sucks ass as a person #but i love that he's written kind of so melodramatically and cartoonishly that i can still just laugh at him and not feel too bad about it #even though his life is sad and clearly sucked ass #idk he's my 3rd fave just because he's such a funny sad shitty guy #and weirdly complex to contemplate despite how much of a creepypasta villain he also is #beyond birthday #p #death note

the vampire lestat in audiobook format is 24 hours long and i finished listening to it in a week, meanwhile merrick is only 8 hours long and it took me three weeks to chew through the whole fucking thing. it's not even very badly written, i just really hate it when anne rice turned the dial up to 11 on her Sympathy with the P*dophile bullshit

#idk how i kept misspelling merrick but anyways i finished it. i hate it. i have gotten it over with #p*dophile(s). there's two of them and i'd say they kept jerking each other off but really it's just david having a crush on louis #sometimes i think louis is just straight :\ and for lestat's sake i hope he isn't but :|#merrick forced louis to fall in love with her and he had zero problem with it #meanwhile lestat turned him a vampire when he briefly changed his mind and boom! 60 years of abuse from monsieur pointe du luc #the numbers just don't add up #mae overshares #the book is just so unsatisfying. i know this is the book where louis' superiority complex comes to die. except that...did it?#this dude would insist on looking weak and pathetic just to prove to whoever the fuck that he's superior than other vampires #he thinks he's exampt from the cycle of violation and death these motherfuckers are all trapped in but he isn't!#and when claudia's ghost showed up (plus her diary entry) reminded him of it. merrick just turned around and told him that the ghost lied #???? ik this woman has her own issues having a crush on her surrogate father 50 years senior than her but ????#and then louis tried to use suicide bait to get lestat to get back together with him or whatever #and then it didn't work he got mad and wrote 'tell lestat i can't wait to leave him' in his pathetic little suicide note #this bitch made sure he wasn't gonna actually die. he acted shady and abusive yet again. and got. well. rewarded for it!#cause lestat showed up at last ANYWAYS and reluctantly gave 99% of his blood to this fucking guy #louis' so-called love for lestat is the most hurtful passive agressive fucked-up 'love' i've seen in fiction #do not enjoy that shit at all! maybe im just too vanilla but their relationship is literally torture #good to know they got married in the prince lestat trilogy. yeah that meant nothing. lestat would have been alone. as always #im done talking shit abt louis but god. need to blow off steam

that art of L deathnote got me thinking about death note and like......... im not even against l/light as a ship conceptually its just like i cant stand the way fandom does it.

like. theyre a lierally judas and jesus paralells theyre toxic. you have to be an L understander to get why he is obsessed with light and its not because he has this cute gay crush on him. and i REALLY dont get the people who like woobify light and make it so ‘kira’ is like a possession like???? thats not the point of any of this why are you even using these characters for this? it confuses me

but anyway i can support L/light ONLY if its done in a very specific way, thats very toxic and almost one-sided (or maybe unbalanced is a better word) not because Lights not interested (hes so like misogynist gay we all know this) in L but because he can NEVER understand L the way L understands him and thats all L wants is to be seen and to be on that level with someone. and thats the tragedy of their friendship is that L sees this person he can contend with and he can meet on his level but the same cannot be said for light.

but anyway ive never seen anyone who ships l/light do it that way specifically so ill continue to be a hater.
