Hey. It's my first post on Tumblr.

Hey guys. This is my first post on Tumblr. And I'm talking to a very very quiet fandom. Demonata fans! who do you all ship? I really wanna know. Cause it's not really a love-based series. And reading fanfics I saw a lot of Grubbs and Lord Loss works. I just wanted to know your favorites:)

A few Demonata head cannons (post hells heroes):

- Grubbs has a lot of blankets around the house and especially his room and hates the cold because of the trauma from when he returned home in the first book to the freezing house.

- Grubbs also hates harsh overhead lighting because it reminds him of the mental institute so he has replaced all the bulbs with warm toned ones and rarely lights them in favour of the lamps in each room, he smashed all the old bulbs against a wall.

- Bec begins to get anxious if she's in a confined space for an extended period of time and after the end of hells heroes can only stay in the house for so long before having to get out to calm her nerves, some nights are better than others and she can stay inside for a good while but most of the time shes out fixing the universe to avoid going home.

-Kernel hates the dark and has several night lights and small battery powered lights/candles in his room,

- Grubbs is the only one that eats regularly and watches TV: Kernel didn't need to eat much when exploring with Beranabus and never got overly interested in watching TV but will occasionally humour Grubbs and watch something with him but never alone, Bec having absorbed all knowledge from destroying the universe has seen every film and knows all the spoilers, she doesn't eat often as she has the experiences of others eating but will sometimes give in to curiosity and try something for herself for the first time.

- Beranabus fucking loves wine and could hold his liquor well (because half demon) but he would get through most of/finish a second bottle then immediately start bawling,

-Kernel had to deal with drunk Beranabus every time, he is now really good at managing drunks,

- Grubbs and Kernel "grow up" a bit physically in the time it's taking them to piece the universe back together but Bec remains in her current form as she wants her chance to grow up with Bran this time.

-Grubbs and Bill E loved watching Shrek together and he occasionally writes "Shrek is love, Shrek is life" in random demon lands, Bec has whacked him for this, Kernel still hasn't seen it yet and is really confused.

- Kernel loves reading in his off time and especially mystery novels but will secretly gush over romance novels.

- Kernel and Grubbs occasionally go and throw rocks at lord loss, they promised to let him live they never said comfortably

- Loch Gossel and Grubbs kissed once after wrestling practice before he started dating his sister, they never talked about it again or told anyone else.

- They have a cleaning rota for the house so they don't rely too much on their magic to keep the place clean.

- Kernel has tried to grow hair with magic and it failed, he then messed with Grubb's hair with magic to feel better, Grubbs was stuck with blue hair with pink patches for a week until he looked in a mirror,

- They play chess tournaments to determine who's going to deal with the annoying tasks for the day.

- Kernel is afraid to return to his parents after rebuilding the universe because he doesn't want to make them hate him again accidentally.

- Grubbs doesn't know if he's going to hug or punch his dad in the face when he returns for cheating on his mum,

- Dervish and Meera used to have wine nights when she would visit and occasionally Grubbs would find them cuddling on the sofa blackout drunk, they both ignored him when he asked them about it the next day.

- Timas Braus is a lightweight with alcohol and adores karaoke when drunk, he sings Rasputin every time at least once

I know this is still early (like extremely early) days but you have no idea how HYPED I am just to hear that discussions are even happening.

I'm re-reading Lord Loss from the Demonata series, which I was very into as a kid, and reading as an adult 15+ years later I now see that the whole time lumpy demon master Lord Loss was serving some serious cunt

I was briefly obsessed with the demonata series and despite its flaws the main thing I'm upset about is that there's no Grubbs x Kernel fixes on ao3 or anywhere else ive looked.

There is so much wasted potential!!!!!!

Kernel lost his parents in an attempt to save the demon brother he stole and in turn ruined the love his parents held for him on his return several years later and left to try to allow them a happy life without him. He was then raised by the also traumatized wizard almost definitely on crack. He had no real childhood after this as he travelled the different dimensions fighting demons and learning magic and any time he was back in his home dimension was stuck in a cave.

Grubs was a little shit and was still after everything but he watched his parents and sister get mauled by demonic creatures and then had to flee said demonic creatures. He was stuck in an in patient mental health facility where he was thought to be insane after the ordeal as no one would believe him when he said that they were murdered by demons. He has one person believe in him, he gets out, lives with his uncle and meets new friends. His new friend is revealed to be his brother and becoming a werewolf, he beats the demon sadist in five way chess but his uncle's soul is taken from his body and left as an empty husk for several months so Grubs has to fight to be deemed mature enough to look after himself and his now non functioning uncle. His uncle comes back eventually and grubs had to deal with the fallout of his uncle's breaking psyche.

There are so many parallels in their individual stories and so much angst to be explored with their similar trauma as well as the incident that occurs at the end of the ninth book. There's so much to be done with them as well, I could re read the books after the sixth to include all the moments that point to their improved friendship from their first meeting to the betrayal to why they'd make the best theoretical couple in the series. Also the fact that after the final book they will literally be spending the rest of the beginning of time together with Bec.

Think of the potential!!!!

You know matter what medium it was done in if I were to want anyone to make be it a movie or some kind of mini series or something based of the Demonata books-

Guillermo Del Torro,

He's so good with creature creation, using both practical and visual effects that really think he'd probably one of the best people to pull of trying to design the Demonata in all their grotesque glory

Also because of the amount of blood, gore, body horror, and stuff in those books like there's no way you could make a faithful/decent adaptation of even just the first Book Lord Loss with it being like Rated 18+ / R

The books themselves are already like T rated but add visuals on top of that and oh boy.

Will we ever get such a thing probably not but I think it'd be cool and just Darren Shan is an underrated author

and while you'll probably ever only hear me talk about the Demonata or Cirque du Freak he written a few other series to (has a whole website too) so yeh check em out might find something you like

#granted adapting it would be fun to see what route they take in adapting the stores #do you stay faitthful to release order #go wild and do it in what would the chronolgical for in series #personally I say stick with just release em in book order #and be interesting to see what people not familiar with the series would react to the way it just for the first few #bounces around time lines and characters lol #before eventually all converging #Demonata #good series tho #Darren Shan #Cirque du freak really could have been such a great series of movies but they botched it so badly

#i was thinking about him and juni and how they are under such similar circumstances and both turned out so different and yet so similar #like. ok. you have juni who is forced into using her power for good since she was a child. #on earth a hundred years have passed. the world is unrecognisable to her. on her end? shes only 20 and has outlived everyone she knows #ok disclaimer uhm. i dont remember how old she is in demon thief but i THINK shes late teens or early twenties so 20 is her age for now #grubbs on the otherhand possesses his own talents. strong ass magical capabilities for one #he isnt kidnapped like juni. beranabus doesnt force him to be a disciple. but he says that if grubbs doesnt then hes a coward #which yknow after seeing bo run back into the depths of slawter in the hopeless attempt to not abandon her family. yeah fair #juni lets her spite and anger about her role build up inside her until she just. doesnt fucking care anymore and she would do anything to #escape. kill people. kill her friends. #grubbs of course has bad past with lord loss so he doesnt exactly have the same option but to him juni is everything he doesnt want to be #but after wolf island he?? is sort of like her?? i suppose he just starts his Morally Grey arc here. yknow. eating people. #but theres a sense of fuck it. if hes going down then hes the universe with him. #grah this isnt comprehendable #anyway you can tell what one i drew late at night and what one i drew at a reasonable time #i wasnt sure whether to post these because its not work that i care about but honestly at this point the demonata tag is the #'ohh two cakes' thing. the demonata tag is STARVED #demonata #the demonata #grubbs grady #eat up bitches (two people) #grah ALSO #ihave so many thoughts i love tags #grubbs' reject the call is deeply rooted in his trauma #i love the portrayal of his trauma its actually so fucking good #i think about early lord loss grubbs a lot. the kind of grubbs who stayed with random family members and traumadumped to their kids #because idk the interaction of him telling these kids that demons killed his family out of nowhere is such a weirdly human interaction #ok goodnight demonata nation (two people. including me) #wyrm draws
