Knitted blanket and bonfires! and a little 🎃 for the little one packed with good vibes!
knitted blanket: top five movies for a rainy day marathon
you already know this, but i am so bad at netflixing lmao.
to me, “rainy day” movies are typically reserved for childhood nostalgia, so i'm digging out the dvds for this one. they're mostly german, but since you're learning it and there are dubbed versions, i hope that's okay hehe:
1. drei haselnüsse für aschenbrödel aka three wishes for cinderella (1973)
2. der salzprinz aka salt over gold (1983)
3. ronja räubertochter aka ronja the robber's daughter (1981)
4. a little princess (1995)
5. how to train your dragon (2010)
& some less-kiddy ones for the other folks:
1. gran hotel (i know i’m cheating because it’s a show, but it’s really good; 2011)
2. peaky blinders (i am once again cheating; 2013)
3. the matrix (1999)
4. harry potter. (i’m sorry. just binge them all. for the vibes.)
5. pirates of the caribbean (the first one is the best. period.)
bonfires: tell us your favorite story
hmmm none of the lesser-known ones are short enough for this, but if you want, you can go find “the lottery” by shirley jackson, “the tell-tale heart” by edgar allan poe, or “the monkey's paw” by w. w. jacobs online for some halloween vibes. i know i know---very basic, but i firmly believe things are usually popular for a good reason...

i didn’t watch a lot of disney as a kid (mostly rewatched our video cassette of the little mermaid a bunch and listened to the audio cassette adaptions of the movies), but man do i still have some intense memories from some of the scarier fairy tale tv movies on german tv. like the mesmerizing, beautiful yet creepy underwater world of a little mermaid adaptation from 1975. the intimidating, disgusting looking monster-like frog the prince turns into in a Froschkönig movie. Der Salzprinz, in which a princess has to journey into the underworld to save her prince. the entire ending of Der Reisekamerad just fucked me up.
