some of yall may not like this one but. those shows netflix keeps cancelling?

Stop trying to save them.

Stop getting hashtags trending, stop spamming twitter accounts, stop crowdfunding billboards outside Netflix HQ, stop putting your TVs on silent and playing episodes on loop to boost ratings, stop creating petitions and binging shows in one night to fit within the “renewal decision timeline”. PLEASE stop.

Maybe one time in a hundred, this will work. But every time you are guaranteed to be giving priceless free marketing, promotion, attention and screen time to a coorporation that may love having you beg on your hands and knees for their scraps of Entertainment (tm) but will never love you back.

If you are angry that Netflix cancelled something you like, cancel your subscription and tell them why. Taking to social media, streaming the show repeatedly and encouraging others to do the same might make them reconsider the cancellation, but it will definitely encourage them to keep following a business model of making controversial (RE: bad) decisions to gain free publicity and a user base increasingly willing to drop time and cash on broken promises.

Engagement and news coverage will never make Netflix reconsider their practices. No such thing as bad press, right? If you want to see real change, go silent, cut them off and take your money elsewhere.

I don't know if I'm going to get crucified for this or not, but Shada isn't very good. Don't get me wrong, its not bad, and probably one of the better stories of late 4, but I'm not going to actively seek out watching it again.

Its problem has nothing to do with the episode itself, but rather, I think, with the pseudo mythos around it. Before I watched it for the first time I knew about it and was hyped, written by Douglas Adams, Doctor Who story with the most adaptations, and its the closest thing to a missing episode after 1970, and I think that was to the episodes detriment when, in reality, its nothing special.

Saw a comment on here claiming Dead Boy Detectives was basically Superwholock (derogatory) but I've been viewing it the whole time as Superwholock (affectionate) and we are not the same and only one of us belongs on the Superwholock website full of queer people babe.

Dead Boy Detectives is like is Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency, and The Sandman were all put in a blender with a bunch of pride flags and glitter and let me tell you THAT is a smoothie tumblr should be drinking.

Watch Dead Boy Detectives. Its fun. Its queer. It has a cat who is also a very cunty very queer boy who could be the love child of Desire of the Endless and The Corinthian (listen I'm not ruling it out).

Thanks everyone for waiting so patiently while I take my time sorting this all out! I'm pleased to announce that I've decided on everyone that will be in the tournament, and we will be starting next Monday (16th)! So, here's how it's going to work:

There are 128 characters overall, and I have split them into 4 brackets with two rounds each.

I will be posting 8 polls (1 round) a week, and will reblog them in the middle of the week and at the end of the week.

Once we get down to one character left from each bracket, they will go against each other in semifinals until only two are left.

tv show recs:

something 2015ish (means 22 episodes, 40ish min log) -> limitless tv show (continuation of the movie), kind of white, mc is manic pixie dreamboy but he wears the coolest sweaters, fun times. i would take that drug.

if you are good with horror and have not watched mike flanagan's stuff id rec it. if you are not good w horror i would still rec haunting of hill house because it is heartwrenchingly beautiful. but ya it has scary points.

i watched mrs davis recently and the tv show is bonkers, but episode 9 pays off bcs the reveal is great. perfect if you are like a person who has worked with code and programming. also there is jesus there and he lowkey hot.

Nine People You'd Like to Get to Know Better

thank you for the tag @missanthropicprinciple! I'm so sorry it took me forever to find this again after my classes ended for the semester.

➠ last song: "Hey Friends" by Ludo. have normally been listening to a few of my spotify playlists but Ludo finally put out a new song so I've been basically just listening to this and also this band Hellripper my partner recommended.

➠ last show/movie: I'll admit I've been on a bit of a Sonic Boom kick again. although I also recently got into a few older sitcoms they do on pluto - 227, Roc, stuff like that. I think the last tv show that was new I followed though was Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency which I seriously recommend as well. have not really been watching movies recently, I think the last one I watched was the Labyrinth or UHF or something.

➠ currently watching: my partner and I have been keeping up on a few lately to watch together: beavis and butthead (the new ones are actually pretty funny), ICarly, been showing my partner Avatar but we're on the last episode now so we've pushed it off a bit, My Hero Academia, The Great North - definitely recommend for fans of Bob's Burgers.

➠ currently reading: just Dracula Daily for the moment since I've got a pretty hefty oceanography textbook to study soon, plus all my to-read books got accidentally put in storage, although I've been trying to get time to check the used bookstore for some new Dirk Gently or at least the last damn series of unfortunate events book since I never got to finish reading that. also trying to get caught up on my favorite webcomic - Lackadaisy.

➠ current obsession: mostly video games since I've been too sick to do much else lately. but Subnautica 1 & 2 and the Soulsborne games have been my main ones lately, especially Elden Ring and Bloodborne. although Stray, Stranded Deep, and Diablo have been ones I've also been playing, and always Minecraft.

apologies to any Dirk Gently fans who were caught out by this one. In the late 1970s, Douglas Adams was the script editor for Doctor Who, he wrote a story called Shada, which they started filming, but due to strike action never completed, Douglas Adams repurposed many of the ideas he had for Shada into his other works, most notably Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency, Professor Chronotis being one of them, a time traveller teaching at a university. You may be wondering why I include character from a story that was never televised, but Shada has so many reconstructions and adaptations in other Doctor Who media its now more easily accessible than many episodes from the 1960s

What are your top three favourite actors and their characters and what is your current hyperfixation??

Thank you for the question! I have such a hard time narrowing it down. But these are the ones I got swirling around in my bonker lately. Very eye catching, like candy.

Chris Evans from Knives Out and The Grey Man. And those films specifically because 1. I like him playing an asshole and 2. He makes the mustache work. Not really into it when he's a goody two shoes or nice guy. I want to watch more of him being just a charming, arrogant prick to people.

Sam Rockwell from anything(he essentially plays this one character really well and honestly I don't hate it at all that it is the same dude in all his movies). But most recently from The Way Way Back and Mr. Right. He's charming, glib, immature, clever. And the scruff looks good. More of that weird geeky dancing that he thinks looks good, please. Heh.

Michael Eklund in EVERYTHING and Anything. Specifically, I like him in Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency and Wynonna Earp. But truly, this has been a years years long obsession with him that just refuses to go away. Tall, lanky, a knife of a smile, and he is versatile, can play villains, anti-heros, good regular guys, and bumbling buffoons.

And my current hyperfixation is Boyd Holbrook, specifically prompted by the Corinthian and Clement Mansell. But I've been doing a special dance with him for years. But now I can't put him down. He's getting so much work right now and my eyes are glued to the screen.

This list typically shifts every 6-10 months. Sam is a recent addition because I saw a thing the other day and he bit me again. Chris has been on there ever since I saw Grey Man last year and couldn't stop rewatching it. And like I said, Michael is cemented in place, a veteran of the list.
