Okay! I havnt been able to get your dog George hc out of my head since I read your post!! So I was wondering do you have other doggy hcs for him?? Like what bread he is or how other cats reacted when they first met him??

I'm gonna start with the questions you asked and ramble a little lol

I can't obviously go over every cats individual reactions but I think I'll categorize them so:

Skeptical and curious: Tantomile, Coricopat, Jemima, Victoria, Etcetera, Tugger, Asparagus and Cassandra.

It was pretty much a "who is this and why is he here?" thing for them and Etcetera in particular wanted to get up close and personal since she's never seen a dog before and figured he was a funny looking cat.

Wary/ on guard: Munkustrap, Demeter, Poncival, Skimbleshanks, Alonzo and probably Jennyanydots.

It's a dog pretty self explanatory, and judging by the way pollicles are reffered too I don't think the cats appreciate them very much. But they all warm up to him pretty much immediantly since this a really tiny pollicle.

Neutral: Bombalurina, Jellyorum, Tumblebrutus, Mistoffelees, Gus and Electra

It's like the situation happened so quick that by the time they found out it was almost over and it's like well....next. However Tumble was very insistent on meeting George and so Jellyorum had to take him to meet him, since Tumble was so sure he could Tumble better then a dog.

As for Doggy headcanons:

George really wanted to learn how to purr but it would always end up sounding like a growl or grumble so sometimes Tumblebrutus and Pouncival would assume he'd gotten mad out of nowehere or was just very hungry.

He did not appreciate the typical cat diet alot so he'd frequently rely on Mungo and Teazer (atleast when he was still a pup and couldn't hunt) to grab him something when they went out on a heist.

So many of jenny and Jelly's knitting pieces had gone to ruins because of George's high energy and playfulness.

Speaking of George's high energy he'd try to burn out most of it by doing tasks around the junkyard mostly helping out Asparagus.

George is deathly afraid of being sent to the pound since he loves being with the jellicles so much, so he's pretty much afraid of any kind of truck. like if he spots one or hears one his first instinct is to hide.

George isn't used to how cats carry kittens atleast when he first came to the junkyard, he thought holding them by the scruff was hurting them which led into him barking at Jelly for no reason lol. But hey it's how he met Plato and they're best buddies now. Jellyorum eventually taught George that holding kittens by the scruff was doing them no harm.

Speaking of Plato and George being besties, Plato got George to try catnip with him for the first time cause he was nervous and well it went quite well except when Asparagus caught the two giggling at nothing for hours.

Plato has lost so many naps to George, George can't help if he's bored and his first insitinct is if he can't find Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer go play with Plato. George would normally coax Plato awake by challenging him to a race or just repeatively placing a stick infront of Platoand wagging his own tail.

Though revenge is always in order and Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer will ocassionally distrupt George's naps by just bapping at his stomach or face just so he can chase them around liek old times.

George has gotten licked and groomed far too many times, mostly by Jelly or sometime Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer tag teaming. like it took the jellicle's an embarissingly long time to figure out that dogs aren't supposed to be groomed like that but by the time they did George had grown acustommed to it so they didn't really bother stopping they just introduced him to the concept of swimming more and called it a day.

Today is another day for Tuggerlurina Week! Today's prompt is Anything with kittens, so I went with all the kittens (I did say in the tags of yesterday's prompt that the rest of the kittens appear in this fic). @jelliclekay I hope you enjoy! (Also yesterday's as well, I hope that you enjoy them.)

Otherwise known as Kittens Attempt to play DnD but Fail and Tuggerlurina humor them because they are aware of what they are trying to do. Also Burns is the last name of my DnD character, she's a druid.

Kitten Tall Tales and Make Believe make fascinating stories.

“You shall never get your hands on the queen of…umm.” Tumblebrutus declared, but he struggled to come up with a name for this make-believe kingdom.

“Burns.” Bombalurina whispered to him, playing along with the kitten games.

“Yes, the Queen of Burns! You shall never get your hands on her, for I am Devilivo the Great Sorcerer!” Tumble declared, raising the stick he found to pretend it is his magical staff.

Electra, giggling, raised another stick, held this time as a sword. “With my army, I shall get back the…the…Great Queen of Burns, for she is our gracious ruler!” Electra declared, smiling the entire time.

Etcetera at least made the effort to keep a straight face. “I cast, uhm, Fire bolt at first level!” Struggling with remembering what she can do in this agreed upon game it.

“Isn’t that what Bomba said was a cantrip?” Pouncival muttered, wearing a tin cup on his head, and holding yet another stick in his paw.

“Shush you pollicle! I’m trying to focus on the game we decided on!” Cettie harshly whispered at her brother. “Don’t you remember that this entire thing was your idea? After watching Mum’s human tomkit play this with his friends?”

Bomba watched as the two siblings, her cousins, argue while she watched Jemima sneaking into the “fort” that Tumble, George, Plato, and Admetus built. Jemima really got into the game, pretending that she was like Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. She got up to Bomba as whispered. “I got you, Mummy!”

“Yes, you did, Caraid! Now, can you think of way out of here for me?” Bomba whispered back, bemused, and proud at her little girl. She got sneaking up to her prey down really fast, now was the hard part. Using her critical thinking skills to think up a way to get out of a trap.

“I don’t think that we can get out the way I came, Mummy. I’m small, and you’re bigger than me.” Jemima quietly said, looking around. Bombalurina could see the cogwheels turning in her daughter’s mind, and that made her proud. Jemima took into consideration the difference in sizes between them. “The only way I can think of getting you out is a distraction.”

“What kind of distraction you think, Jemmy?” Bomba asked, also keeping an eye out for the tomkits.

“Not any distraction from Cettie and Pounce.” Jemima said, watching Cettie and Pounce argue while Electra play-fought (more like wrestled) Plato.

And then Bomba saw it. The great big, glorious mane of Tugger. “I think I see our distraction.”

Jemima looked up to see her dad. “That can work! Let’s see how this goes.” Jemima said, Bomba seeing her eyes light up. “Does Daddy even know what we’re doing?”

“I don’t think so.” Bomba said, as she watched as he walked up to see the game. He sat on his haunches, looking at Bomba, and scanning the kittens set up. He had a confused look on his face, trying to make sense of this entire thing. “Nope. He doesn’t.”

Then Etcetera noticed him. “TUGGER!” She squealed, forgetting the game and running up to him, the game forgotten. She pounced onto him as he flinched back a bit in surprise and confusion.

“Uhm,” He uttered, gently picking her up and putting her back down onto the ground. “Can you explain to me what you kittens are playing, and why is Bombalurina in this fort made up of different pieces of wood and pillows? And why are you kits wearing various kitchenware items?”

Etcetera smiled at him and started to explain. “So, this was Pounce’s idea, after he explained what we watched at Mummy’s human home of her human tomkit to us. Bomba’s playing with us so that, as she said, ‘Make sure that we don’t get hurt while playing’, and apparently she has the knowledge of this game. ‘Said that she read her favourite human’s books while he was at her human home. We made this general plan and gave each other roles. Now Bomba is the Queen of Burns, according to Tumble and Leckie.”

Tugger raised an eyebrow and looked at Bomba. Bomba shrugged, nonverbally communicating that yea, she’s there to make sure that no one gets hurt. “So, you’re telling me that you are playing Dungeon’s and Dragons…as kittens?”

“YES!” Etcetera exclaimed, hugging him, making Tugger freeze a bit and cringe, making Bomba (and Jemima) laugh quietly.

“Umm, Etcetera…then why is Bomba there?” Tugger asked, gesturing to Bomba.

“Oh, she’s in jail, captured by Tumble, Admetus, George, and Plato. Me, Lettie, Jemmy, Victoria, and Pounce are trying to get her back.” Cettie said, smiling at him.

Bomba could see the cogs turning in his brain, and that made her concerned. “I think that Daddy is going to cause a horrible muddle within this game.”

Jemima watched from her hidden location. “Yeah, I agree. I can only guess that Daddy would decide to either just storm this fort and take you and have the others try to get you back and be unfair or just decide to be on our side and ‘help’ them get you out of here.”

“Either way I expect that Tugger would, oh I don’t know, cause chaos enough to get me out of here.” Bomba explained, watching as Tugger looked at both Bomba and then Etcetera, who had a paw in Pouncival’s face.

It was then Tugger made up his mind, though he did exaggerate it. “Weeeelllll, is it possible that I join it?” Now all the kittens were looking at him, with hope in their eyes. “I would love to help get the lovely Queen out of her cell, for she is the most beautiful and fairest of the land.” The rest of the kittens cheered, and he strutted himself to Electra’s side. “Now, can you tell me what your plans were.”

Bomba and Jemima watched as Electra whispered into Tugger’s ear. “I see that he is going the other way that you described.” Bomba muttered to her daughter.

“He needs to know his role in the story! Since you are the Queen of Burns, and I’m the Princess of Burns who is a Rogue, that makes him the King of Burns!” Jemima muttered, “Electra is a fighter, while Cettie is a wizard, Tumble is a sorcerer, and Plato and Admetus are warlocks!”

“And what is George again?” Bomba smirked.

“He did say a druid, but I’m not exactly sure. Pounce did say that he was a Paladin, but he definitely doesn’t know what he’s doing.” Jemima said, rolling her eyes at the mention of Pouncival. “Besides, Daddy has to not mess with the game so that as you said, Mummy, it has to be worthwhile.”

“Exactly. While I want you guys to have fun, I would like you to learn and practice something from this. For example, you practiced how to stalk your prey without being noticed by sneaking into here.” Bomba explained in a soft teaching tone. “Tumble, while he definitely needs to work on naming things, has the intelligence and I sense some kind of charisma to be some kind of leader. I expected either Plato or Admetus to take charge of their team, but it was Tumble who took it. And George, while slightly shy, has a similar charisma, but more like a stage presence. I plan on asking Munk to have George be the Rumpus Cat for the ball.”

“He would be so good at Rumpus Cat!...what’s the Rumpus Cat?” Jemima agreed, and then backstepped. Bomba snorted and ruffled her kitten’s headfur.

“Pester Uncle Munk about it.” Bomba said, and both of them watched as Tugger shifted his stance to one she recognized, from their shared training with her Grandpa Gus. His ‘I will be dramatic as accordance as I am required to.’ Stance, which happens more often than not.

“Ahem.” Tugger cough, shifting himself to a more regal-looking posture, “I see that you have stolen my wife, Queen Trice of Burns, Sorcerer Devilivio. I, King Vis of Burns, shall lead my army into battle in hopes of rescuing my fair Queen.”

“Oh, bast damnit.” Bombalurina cursed under her breath, as Jemima started giggling at her father. “Tugger!” And that was start of the insanity that Demeter ended up having to watch from afar, Munkustrap joining her as Tugger picked up Bomba and threw her over his shoulder while she tickled him to get down, while Jemima would lead both Tumble and Plato on a merry chase, laughing all the way as she managed to get to both her parents side, where she was tickled, making the entire thing devolve into a massive tickle fight, where both Bomba and Tugger gave all the giggling kittens tickles. Once Jenny called dinnertime, Bomba send the majority of the kittens to Jenny, Jemima staying behind. “Jemmy, did you have fun?”

Jemima jumped into Bomba’s arms, wiggling herself closer to her Mum’s chest, Tugger leaning onto Bomba. “Yea! That was fun, Mummy! And I loved that you joined us, Daddy!” Jemima said, looking up to her parents. The amount of love Bomba held for both Tugger and Jemima swelled up in her heart, and she hugged her kitten, Tugger encircling them both in his arms and tail.

so i’ve been thinking about these two moments in Tugger’s song for a while, and i just realized today how well they play into one of my main hcs!

I’ve posted before about how my hc for Alonzo, Tumblebrutus, and Pouncival is that they’re brothers, but Alonzo had to leave in order to find a better place to raise his brothers. Tumblebrutus and Pouncival became lost, however, and Alonzo spent forever searching for them until he finally found them and brought them to the Junkyard.

WELL

My other hc is that Plato was also a street cat before joining the Jellicles and meeting Victoria. So Plato’s really the only other cat in the tribe who Alonzo, Tumblebrutus, and Pouncival can really relate to. 

Tumblebrutus doesn’t talk much about the Time Before with Alonzo or anyone else, but Plato’s always there with an ear in case the younger tom wants to talk, and Tumblebrutus does talk to Plato. He doesn’t want to make Alonzo feel guilty for leaving, because Tumblebrutus knows that Alonzo didn’t mean for them to become lost for so long.

In return, Plato teaches Tumblebrutus and Pouncival how to dance and becomes something of a mentor to them.

He also understands when Tumblebrutus starts hoarding food in his and Pouncival’s den, or when Pouncival starts to stick to Tumblebrutus’ side like glue and won’’t stop snuggling into his brother’s side, or when the two brothers hear a certain sound on a quiet night and immediately freeze up.

Plato doesn’t say anything. He just brings some fresh food to Tumblebrutus, because he knows what it’s like to root through garbage for his next meal, he allows Pouncival to snuggle into his back in the tiniest ball because he knows what it’s like to not be warm enough, and he asks Munkustrap to tell a story, because he knows that a sudden sound in the dark can never be a good thing.

So when Alonzo isn’t around, or he’s doing Grown Up Cat Things, Tumblebrutus and Pouncival know that they have someone else that they can go to, someone else who understands.

2022 Asia tour?

Alright, so.

a) the 2020 asia tour got cancelled in May 2021, before it could go on to its planned Taiwan leg

b) the international tour is set to resume in May 2022, in Zurich

but

c) a whole bunch of former cast members headed for Taiwan today (7–8 January), saying things like 'see you again in March', and there are performance dates listed on Taiwanese ticketing websites through February and March.

This looks like a return of the Asia tour, rather than an early leg of the international tour. There's still nothing on the official Cats website, but the promo materal includes photos from the 2017 and 2020 Asia tours, it's run by GWB Entertainment (who did the Asia tours), and seems to be offering replacement dates for people who had tickets to the failed 2021 tour.

I'll be tagging any updates as '2022 asia tour', but considering it as effectively 'season 2' of the 2020 tour.

Currently suspected/confirmed cast below the cut! If you want the updates, track the post: I'll comment as I find things out or notice possibilities, as well as editing them into the post.

Leading the company: Dane Quixall, hoorah! Dane has been resident director and superswing with the international tour for years - in fact, his presence is the one thing that makes it look more like the international tour than the Asia tour, but otoh he said something about it being a 'different company' this time... Before that he was in the UK tour of 2013, and the German tent tour of 2010–13. He has always been a swing and usually a member of the creative team too, so he'll presumably be the same this time.

Returning from the 2020 Asia tour:

Rafe Watts - was Munkustrap, will presumably be Munkustrap this time too. Xavier Pellin - ditto for Mistoffelees Tyler Lotzof - ditto Victoria Alice Batt - ditto Jellylorum Hayden Baum - ditto Skimbleshanks Ellie Nunan - ditto Jennyanydots George Hankers - ditto Mungojerrie Dominique Hamilton - ditto Rumpelteazer Taylor Scanlan - ditto George / onstage swing Anina Plescher - ditto Electra / onstage swing Emily Casey - officially cast as Tantomile, she ended up covering Cassandra for almost half the performances due to first-cast Cass' unfortunate injuries, so she might be playing either here Caitlin New - was a swing covering Bomba, Jenny, Tanto/Cori, and Griz. Probably the same again, unless she's been promoted to first cast for one of those roles Kade Hughes - was Bill Bailey (cover Carbuckety) and will probably be that again, but, since Mukeni's in the cast too (who has never covered Carbuckety to my knowledge) Kade might be Carbuckety this time around.

Cast for the Taiwan leg of the 2020 Asia tour but never got to play:

Will Richardson - cast as Tugger, has formerly played that role in the 2017 Asia tour and in the Oasis production, will presumably be Tugger this time. Ashlee Hammerin - cast as Demeter; formerly a swing in the 2017 Asia tour, covering Demeter, Bomba, Tantomile, and Rumpelteazer. Will presumably be Demeter. Amy Everett - cast as Jemima, played Sillabub previously on the Oasis cruise.

Other productions:

Benjamin Mundy! A surprise, since it's a few years since he was in the show. He was Coricopat in London in 2014 (so this will be the first time he's performed with a non-rap Tugger 🤭). Given he covered Tugger too, he'll probably be an ensemble male role like Alonzo, Cori, or Plato/Admetus, while covering those roles and maybe Munk or Tugger; or he'll be a male swing. Mukeni Nel - yaaaas, our beautiful Mukeni from the 2019 international tour returns to the show! Either in his former role as Bill Bailey/Tumblebrutus, or moving to Carbuckety/Pouncival. Either way, he'll presumably still cover Mistoffelees. Emily Langham - Rumpelteazer in the 2016 UK/International tour, and cover Jellylorum - swing or creative? We have Alice Batt and Dominique Hamilton who I assume will be reprising their roles as Jelly and Teazer, so we'll see what Emily's doing. Carly Miles - Jemima (cover Victoria) in the 2017 Asia tour - again, we already have a Jemima and a Victoria so we'll have to wait and see what role(s) she'll be taking this time.

Possibly:

Brad Little and Kerry Ellis as Deuteronomy and Grizabella: one Taiwanese site lists them, but it might just be going by last year's info. (Brad was Deut throughout the 2020 Asia tour and would have continued into Taiwan, Kerry was meant to join the cast in Taiwan.) Kerry's insta doesn't look like she's going anywhere just yet, but it's possible that a star Grizabella could join the cast later in the rehearsal period. Stevie Hutchinson - Pouncival in the London revival - is travelling somewhere but, again, we know no more than that yet. Turns out it was Miami!

That's still only half the cast, though. The Asia tour had a cast of 24 onstage plus 5 swings, and the International tour has 22 (no Electra or George) plus usually 8 swings. So we'll see what we find out in the next few days!

Cast members whom we know not to be returning include Fletcher Dobinson (busy in London in Moulin Rouge), Jal Joshua (busy in Bring It On), Thomas Inge and his boyfriend Lloyd Davies (source: I asked Thomas), Suzie Melloy (heavily pregnant!), and, sadly for Tyler, her boyfriend Dan Partridge (he has booked himself a spontaneous trip to Sri Lanka now that she's left him all alone!). Cian Hughes and Harry Francis (Carbuckety and Mistoffelees in the 2019 international tour) are also not coming: they've commented things like 'goodbye, see you in a few months' in response to cast member announcements.

Chaos Twin Nicknames

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer have an unusual gift of the gab that they've used to create this frankly incomprehensible list of nicknames for the rest of the Jellicles. This is what their one shared braincell is focused on most of the time, and no one else has been able to keep them all straight yet.

Alonzo is Lonnie, although they've also been known to yell "'Allo, guv'ner!" whenever they see him across the Junkyard.

Asparagus (as in Gus Jr.) is Perry. They call Gus Sr. "Just Gus" after a talking-to by Jellylorum concerning their old nickname, Rags.

Bombalurina is Allie or Allie-Cat (when she's in a good mood), Demeter is Teri, and Cassandra is Sandy or Andi.

Bustopher Jones is Stuff, Stuffy, or Stuffed.

Coricopat is Ricky (he's still not sure how they got there) and Tantomile is Tomi. As a pair, they're Patty and Millie.

Electra is Ellie, Etcetera is Ettie, and Jemima is Emmie (sometimes Emmie 2, since Demeter is Emmie 1). Close names for close friends!

Grizabella probably left the Tribe before they were old enough to start making nicknames, but they'd call her Izzy or Rizzo.

Jellylorum is Lori or Rummy. They mostly just call Jennyanydots variants on "mum" (including The Old Mumsie Cat), but when they're sure she's out of earshot, she's The Old Gum.

Macavity (post-them working for him) is Itty, Sugar, Sweetheart, or Toothache.

Mistoffelees is Toffee. If he goes by Quaxo, then he's Duck. Victoria is Tori, Icky with the other kittens, or Swan or Goose with Quaxo.

Munkustrap is Trap, Tramp, or Scraps when they're not calling him "dad" to set him off, which is most of the time.

Old Deuteronomy is Ol' Ron.

Plato is Play-Doh, Pouncival is Ounce, and Tumblebrutus is Bumble or just Bum.

The Rum Tum Tugger was a bit of an enigma since barely anyone calls him by his full name anyway, but they eventually settled on Artie.

Skimbleshanks has too many nicknames to count, not even considering all the variations on "dad" they've come up with. Ticky, Sticky, Kim, Ankles, and the list goes on. He's also caught on to many of their nicknames and has started referring to other cats with them absentmindedly, which gets him a lot of strange looks.

And lastly, what do Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer call each other? Why, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, of course! (They call each other J and T in private, but the expression on Munkustrap's face is too good to pass on insisting on their full names being used by the other cats.)

The Jellicles on Tik Tok

Munkustrap- Either posts about his family and the dumbass Jellicle antics  or no posts and just tags his shithead brother to be passive aggressive

Demeter- Makes inspirational and encouraging Tik Toks, basically a therapist even if her own life is falling apart

Bombalurina- She just gives the gays everything  they want, probably on the birate side of Tik Tok. 

Tugger- Same as Bomba. Other than that posts things specifically to annoy Munk or to rant about his amazing boyfriend. 

Mistoffelees- Makes posts on dancing exercises, yoga and some clips of him dancing. The theatre gay who’s comment section totally isn’t spammed by Tugger. 

Alonzo- Idk, I can see him doing those vintage Tik Toks and similar stuff to Misto

Victoria- Same as Mistoffelees but occasionally makes stuff where she’s showing off her fit and looks stunning

Plato- Probably on 70s Music and Vintage Tik Tok

Cassandra and Exotica- Anything involving spirits, ghosts and witchcraft

George- Doesn’t have an account but makes guest appearances

Coricopat and Tantomile- Meditiation and similar stuff to Cass and Exo

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer- Shared account where they do acrobatics, Give shoplifting tips and prank each other and anyone they can. Give off a lot of anarchist and eat the rich vibes. I’ve fallen in love with trans Jerrie so occasionally they’ll take a more serious  note on occasion and Jerrie will give tips on transitioning and encouragement to people questioning their gender. 

Etcetera- Very cheerful positive Tik Toks of her just dancing and vibing. Occasionally does some cottagecore stuff.

Electra- Probably on alt Tik Tok, also gives off eat the rich vibes

Jemima- Alt Tik Tok, songwriter and local theatre gay. She also does a lot of positive and supportive messages. Maybe some stuff on icons like Queen, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. 

Pouncival and Tumblebrutus- Shared account where they do so much dumbass stuff no one can tell if they’re serious or not.

Skimbleshanks ,  Asparagus, Jennyanydots and Jellylorum are  those grandparents you randomly see dancing and having the time of their life

Human AU

This is the AU I have going right now on Ao3, and it’s mainly focused around Tugger, Mistoffelees, and their twelve children because they just can’t seem to stop adopting kids!

The AU is essentially a series of connected shorts following the Deuteronomy-Jones family and their life, so there’s not really a set summary that I could give that would actually make sense 😅

All the kids are amazing, wonderful, awesome original characters who either belong to myself, @dcjelliclequeen33, @queencurlycrown, or @terpsichorian (they’re coming in soon, I PROMISE), and Browrey (@kineticjellyfish‘s wonderful OC) is also going to be a regularly featured character now that the establishing shorts have been finished!

It’s very fluffy right now, but there’s some heavy angst that I’m going to be posting soon, and I’ve got quite a few shorts pre-written for it, which I’m very happy about!

In it, Macavity is a more complex character, and will eventually end up becoming a positive character in their lives, but it will take some time and will not be an immediate thing that happens. 

The entire story is one big collaboration between myself and the four wonderful people who I’ve listed above, so this AU is extremely special to me!

Mafia AU

This one I have not started posting yet, but it is in the works, and I’ve nearly finished the first chapter/short for it, and I’m hoping to finish a few more this week before I start classes!

It follows the lives of Macavity, Munkustrap, and Tugger Deuteronomy, the trio of brothers who are the heads of the most powerful family in London.

In this AU, the trio of brothers are as close as can be. Nothing can tear them apart, and they have an inner circle that is comprised of Alonzo, Demeter, Bombalurina, Mistoffelees, and a select few others (who will be original characters that have been mentioned before!)

Similarly to the Human AU, this AU will be a series of connected shorts!

Macavity is the “leader” of the group, the one who handles the connections to other families in the area, Munkustrap works with the business side of the family, and Tugger acts as the brawn, while also maintaining the appearances of the family.

@soh-da-meatball did an AMAZING drawing that absolutely blew me away, and it perfectly shows how Tugger is the dramatic one of the trio, putting on airs, while his brothers appear to be the more serious ones. 

Again, this is another collaboration between myself, @dcjelliclequeen33, @queencurlycrown, @terpsichorian, and @kineticjellyfish, and it will be featuring our OCs!

Flower Shop/Tattoo Shop AU

This AU features Hestia and Jubilee, and @queencurlycrown is completely to blame for it!! It will most likely be a one-shot of sorts, but I can’t want to get started on it!

Hestia works at her dad’s tattoo shop part-time to help pay bills to get through art school. She makes a reputation for herself, and eventually meets and befriends Jubilee, a creative writing student attending the same college who wants to get a tattoo after moving into her dorm. The two instantly become friends, and Tugger basically adopts Jubilee right then and there. 

Across the street, at a flower shop owned by a man named Mistoffelees, two art students, Tumblebrutus and Mungojerrie, work to pay off their own loans. Both are dance and theater student majors, and both are dorks.

The four meet when Jubilee enters the flower shop to pick up something for her dorm, and the boys spot her tattoos. Jerrie is immediately entranced by the bookworm, and invites her to a dance being held by his theater club, and Jubilee accepts. Tumblebrutus follows Jubilee’s directions to Tugger’s tattoo shop, where he and Hestia meet, and realize that they were once each other’s childhood sweetheart, and he invites her to the same dance. 

Loads of fluff ensues!

Mermaid/Pirate AU

Again, this AU features lots of OCs!!

Tumblebrutus, Pouncival, Mungojerrie, Rumpleteazer, Browrey, Plato, and Bijoux are all crewmembers aboard Growltiger’s pirate ship. Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer were adopted by the pirate as children, Tumblebrutus, Pouncival, and Plato were found by him as teenagers, and Browrey and Bijoux were kidnapped one afternoon while the ship was in port and brought aboard. 

One afternoon, Tumblebrutus hears a voice singing, and is instantly entranced when he looks overboard and sees a red-haired mermaid looking back up at him. Pouncival joins him, and they see a group of merpeople join the mermaid before they disappear. 

Hestia, as well as her siblings, are all interested in the humans on the pirate ship, so they follow it around as it pillages, and they notice that the humans aboard are kind, except for the captain, obviously. 

They meet the crew once on land, and sparks fly between all members of the crew and the siblings, who make it their mission to free the crew from the clutches of Growltiger.

Newsies AU

This AU was hinted at back during Tuggoffelees Week, and basically follows the same storyline as the Newsies musical!

Tugger is the leader of the London newsies, and he meets Munkustrap and his little sister, Jemima, who are looking to make some money after their parents died. He grows to care for both the siblings, and eventually Tugger also meets the young reporter, Mistoffelees Jones, and the two get off on the wrong foot, butting heads as Tugger flirts with him, but Mistoffelees will have none of it. 

Both Tugger and Mistoffelees have their own secrets that they hide from each other, but Tugger’s secrets end up hurting both himself and the newsies that he calls his family. 

Mistoffelees has to face the man that he unfortunately calls his father in order to help Tugger, and help his own family, and the newsies have to work against their own pain to help their brother out of the hole he’s dug for himself.

Multiple AU

This is basically going to be all those “trope mash-up” asks that I did.

I’m going to make one big post on Ao3 for them, and make one chapter per ask, going off of the summary that I did! All of those asks are on my blog under the tag “trope mash-up”, so if you’d like to send another one, or want to check them out, please do!

The seven cats who are billed only as ‘ensemble’ and have no official names are:

A few points to note:

Ensemble is separate to chorus. There’s a whole chorus in addition to the cats listed above, but they aren’t onstage much. They don’t participate in this round of bows, but they do take a group bow a little later. We’re just looking at the principals and ensembles/swings here.

Jemima and Tumblebrutus are listed with their alternate names, but Pouncival isn’t! Similarly, ‘Quaxo’ is listed as an alternative to Mistoffelees, though he doesn’t have a costume change so he’s clearly not a different cat or even ‘Quaxo’s stage name / alter ego’.

We have no George or Electra - those names are still available. And I’m just going to say we can use Bill Bailey, Sillabub, and Carbuckety as names for other cats if there are any cats that seem to fit them.

(and then there’s ALWAYS ADMETUS. but maybe we should just apply that to the whole cat chorus.)

OKAY LET’S GO

1: The three clowns. I saw @theimpossiblescheme​ call the girl ‘Buttons’ and she is now Buttons in my head and she is perfect. What shall we call Yellow-Pants and Red-Pants? (ETA: Buttons, Barnaby, and Bonzo, courtesy of @rumplteazer​ ) (Further ETA: a photo on Coricopat’s actor’s instagram page has the girl tagged as Electra.)

2: Red-and-black and Mermaid Girl. @theimpossiblescheme​ was calling the mermaid girl Eris and the red one Rocketta, and @purple-child​ also suggested Mardi for the mermaid, from Mardi Gras.

3: THE BOY BAND. Now, there’s no definite way of deciding which is which - they don’t really have any of the lines of the boys in the ordinary production. However:

Orange Fox behaves like an Alonzo (older, touchy, slightly disdainful, protective). Does the ‘merry and bright’ moment with Blue Jumpsuit (sixth gif down) - but says ‘and bright’ rather than the usual Alonzo lines. Does it with Alonzo attitude, though, not with Pouncival cuteness. However, from backstage photos with him and his husband (David Pellerin/Tumblebrutus) in full costume, we know he is Brett Hibbert, who is listed as ensemble. Unless I can manage to work out what the actors called this character themselves, I’m calling him Admetus.

Blue shirt and red hat is the most prominent ‘cute enthusiastic kid’, and has strong Pouncival vibes. He is delighted about everything - and keeps trying to copy Tugger who is a terrible influence. The instagram of Hakan T. Aslan (Pouncival’s actor) confirms this guess, because he has a very recognisable face, and a still more recognisable grin.

The grey and red cat has a similar outfit design and is usually paired opposite him: this is Tumblebrutus. Again, feels like Tumble - bit of a 'grumpy teenager’ attitude, very physical in his body language, has a lot of fun but doesn’t just openly beam all the time like Pouncival, likes to hang out on the slide when Tugger isn’t monopolising it. Also has gorgeous feline facial expressions, incidentally. Again, we have confirmation of this identification from David Pellerin's backstage photos.

Blue Jumpsuit is therefore Alonzo (and is tagged as such in one instagram photo from the Coricopat actor). He has more of the chorus solo lines than the others - the other three only have a couple of words here and there. However, overall his role is much smaller than that of “Admetus”. For example, when there’s only a small ensemble onstage, like in the Macavity number, Alonzo is absent but the other three boys are present. And the other three all have more interactions with principals like Tugger so you feel like there’s a relationship there.

4: Pink Tutu and Etcetera.  @rumplteazer​ has suggested Mab (she is a tiny fairy queen, so!). We know this taller orange girl is Etcetera because @rumplteazer​ found one of the promo shots labelled with the actor’s name, hoorah!

5: Now we’re getting into the realm of ‘no doubt about it’. These are Tantomile and Coricopat. Aww look, he picked her a mime-flower.

6: Victoria, obviously, and pretty clearly Cassandra - no definite way of knowing but she has Cassandra’s key solo lines (moonlit eyes, etc) and hangs around looking mysterious and elegantly divine, so.

7: A wild Mistoffelees appears! But very briefly. Our first solo bow.

8: And this is what happens when you have an enormous Jenny and a pocket-sized Skimbleshanks. Jenny can pick both him and Jemima up AT THE SAME TIME. Excellent. We stan a queen. Skimble and Jenny are explicitly named in songs, of course, and Jemima is the main female kitten and got the Grizabella-tune solos. Also she is baby and must be protected at all costs, which is a key Jemima characteristic.

9: These two have a whole song about being Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer. I think I’m fairly confident with making that identification.

10: Jellylorum and Gus/Bustopher

11: Hey look, Plato managed another quick costume change just so he could bow with Demeter (pink) and Bombalurina (black) as Macavity. What a clever boy.

12: And Tugger ran off to find some clothes too, for the express purpose of stripping one final time. Yes Tugger, we know how your stripper jacket works.

13: Munkustrap, running on just barely too late to stop Tugger from being Tugger...

14: ... and of course Deut and Grizabella.

Bonus: the actual chorus. Or those of them that fit on the screen. Which is actually about half of them - note that the purple girl on the far right of the shot is standing in front of the conductor, ie, in the centre of the stage. And as you can see when the shot changes, there were just as many again on the other side!

I decided to jump on the bandwagon and start fleshing out some of my Cats OCs!  Without even meaning to, I’ve amassed a small army of extra cats, but I want to talk about my two garbage boys first.  The questionnaire I’m using belongs to @magical-marvelous-mistoffelees​, and anyone else is welcome to join in the fun!

1. What is their name? Gender? General age?

Dionysus and Fleuryfling, male, young adult (around Plato’s age)

2. What are three adjectives to describe them?

Fleuryfling—exuberant, reckless, cruel Dionysus—calculating, amoral, mischievous

3. Do they have a human home or are they a stray?

Neither of them have human homes—they come and go as they please, but most of the time they live on Elmsmere Way with Macavity and his henchqueens.

4. If they have a human home, what is their home life like? If they are on the streets, what is life like for them?

Life for them is fairly difficult—the heavy traffic in London is the bane of their existence, so much that they dread venturing out to Piccadilly Circus more than anything—but they make the most of it.  Their primary pastimes are staking out the fishing boats along the shore so they can get the first pickings of the day (bringing whatever they can back to Macavity, of course) and absolutely destroying whatever interesting, wealthy-looking houses they can find.  And we’re not just talking a Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer-style smash and grab—they will turn the entire place upside down and probably trick the guard dog into putting his muzzle on a mousetrap.

5. What is their ‘role’ within the tribe, or what are they known for? (Ex: Tugger is the curious cat/rockstar, Gus is the theatre cat, Mistoffelees is the magician, Munkustrap is the Jellicle Protector, Jelly is seen as a caretaker, etc)

When they were still a part of the Jellicle Tribe, they were the resident pranksters.  However, their pranks were a great deal crueler than the kinds of stunts Pouncival or their brother Tumblebrutus would pull, and they very often ended in other cats getting hurt.  They never saw the big deal about it and thought the other cats were simply overreacting, but when Exotica got her front legs broken because of them, Munkustrap put his foot down and told them to leave.  Now, they serve as Macavity’s newest henchcats (the ones we see in the stage version).

6. Who are their best friends? You can include characters from the show or tag other people’s OC’s. How popular are they?

They used to be rather close with Tumblebrutus, but the more unrestrained their pranks became, the less Tumblebrutus wanted to be associated with them and the more the brothers drifted apart.  Fleuryfling, for his own part, has an enormous crush on Sparetta—one of the henchqueens—but Dionysus just tells him to keep dreaming.  As for Macavity and the henchqueens, they mostly tolerate the two.  Macavity thinks they’re useful idiots who will swallow anything he tells them and need an outlet for their shenanigans.  Sparetta and Jokaste think they’re kind of cute, in the same way that a puppy who keeps peeing all over your carpet is cute.  And Zampalesta and Fantazia think they’re annoying little insects who would be better served keeping out of everyone’s way.

7. What is their favorite food? Do they prefer human food or something they’ve hunted?

They both have a weakness for salmon.  When they bring fish back to Macavity’s den, they hoard the salmon for themselves.

8. Do they have any accessories? Scars?Why or why not? Both of them wear arm and shoulder guards made of Ace bandages and shreds of old plastic, the better to protect them against attacks.  Dionysus’s guard is bigger thanks to having his shoulder dislocated several times by Alonzo out on patrols.  They also both have long scars across their chests—these were inflicted by Macavity after they botched one of his orders.

9. What style of dance do they work best in?

They’re both extremely agile ballet dancers and almost seem to float when they move when they put their minds to it.  Cats who have been unfortunate enough to cross them would swear that their paws never make a sound when they walk.

10. Do they have any sort of magic? Do they fear magic?

They have what might be called a healthy fear of magic—they respect Macavity’s abilities, but they would hate to end up on the wrong side of them.  Fleuryfling especially gets the willies every time he sees Macavity exercise his powers, but he’s careful not to say anything since he doesn’t want a matching scar across his back.

11. Any fears?

Other than getting on Macavity’s bad side, they’re pretty much fearless.  That’s a huge part of what makes them so dangerous—they have no concept of consequences except where their new boss is concerned.

12. Do they believe in love? If so, what is their “type” and how do they act when they are in love? If not, then why?

Dionysus doesn’t—he’s always been the more cynical of the two and thinks of love as a kittenish waste of time.  Fleuryfling does, but his views on love are very immature.  He believes that love at first sight is the be-all end-all of attraction and that making a “relationship” work means persisting endlessly and never taking no for an answer.  Whenever he’s trying to flirt with Sparetta, he lays it on very thick and pulls out an endless barrage of what he thinks are smooth and clever pick-up lines.  Think of Angel Dust trying to hit on anyone in Hazbin Hotel, and you’re pretty close.

13. Do they personally know anyone who has gone up to the Heaviside layer? Do they believe in the Heaviside layer?

They can remember when their mother died (Tumblebrutus can’t because he was just a baby), but they don’t necessarily believe in the Heaviside Layer.  If anything, they think the Heaviside is way too selective and only picks the cats the Everlasting Cat personally prefers to be reborn… in which case, they don’t want anything to do with the whole business.  They hate most authority anyway, and in their minds there’s no worse authority than the Everlasting Cat herself.

14. Any passions or hobbies? (Ex: Dance, hunting, etc)

Besides their pranks—and they are absolutely indiscriminate in who they target and have even dumped oil paint on Zampalesta before—they’re both avid hunters.  Dionysus has the better sense of smell, but Fleuryfling has keener eyesight.

15. If a song was sung about them at the Jellicle Ball, what would it be about?

Any song about Dionysus and Fleuryfling would definitely be about their reckless and mean-spirited antics and how much damage they can do.  A harder prog rock song like “Run Like Hell” by Pink Floyd or “God Save the Queen” by the Sex Pistols would be the best match in style.

16. What are their thoughts on some of the main characters in the show? (Ex: Tugger, Munk, Jenny, you get to choose!)

The only cat they have any respect for anymore is Macavity because they believe he’s on “the right side of history”.  Old Deuteronomy disowned him, Munkustrap and Rum Tum Tugger pretend he doesn’t exist at the best of times, and Demeter and Bombalurina are “ungrateful” for the “protection” the Mystery Cat gave them when they were still on the streets.  Dionysus and Fleuryfling already hated the Tribe, Munkustrap in particular, for kicking them out, but now that they know Macavity’s side of the story, they hate the Tribe even more.  And they want to help Macavity take back what’s his, no matter what it takes.

17. Do they have any secrets they are hiding?

While Dionysus has burned all of his bridges, Fleuryfling still has moments of missing Tumblebrutus.  They used to have good times together, and he misses that.  He feels sorry for him for still swallowing the Tribe’s “lies” and wishes he would get on “the right side of history” with the rest of his family, but if you twisted his arm, he’d admit that he still loves Tumble and wants him back.

More Cats OCs!  Last time we had a set of three sisters--this time we have four brothers!

1. What is their name? Gender? General age?

Ulyssess, Cavalcanti, Orsino, and Prufrock (left to right)—all male.  The first three were from a first litter, so they’re all mature adults around Munkustrap’s age.  Prufrock was from a second litter, so he’s closer in age to Admetus and Plato.

2. What are three adjectives to describe them?

Ulysses—finicky, protective, dignified Cavalcanti—supercilious, prim, imaginative Orsino—dramatic, timid, responsible Prufrock—cheeky, lighthearted, idealistic

3. Do they have a human home or are they a stray? 

The four brothers live with a novelist in Cheshire, a young woman who writes detective stories and is currently attending night classes to become a teacher. 

4. If they have a human home, what is their home life like? If they are on the streets, what is life like for them?

Their owner, Eleanor, is a dyed-in-the-wool “crazy cat lady” who adores her pets and takes very good care of them.  Sometimes she gets distracted in her writing so much that Cavalcanti and Orsino have to paw and meow at her door to remind her to feed them, but she does her best to look out for them.  And on days she knows she’s going to be exceptionally busy, she has lots of toys and a cat tower for each of them to keep them occupied.  Sometimes, however, Ulysses thinks it’s more fun to keep her company by walking on her typewriter.

5. What is their ‘role’ within the tribe, or what are they known for? (Ex: Tugger is the curious cat/rockstar, Gus is the theatre cat, Mistoffelees is the magician, Munkustrap is the Jellicle Protector, Jelly is seen as a caretaker, etc)

Ulysses, Cavalcanti, and Orsino are exceptional co-protectors, Ulysses especially so.  He gets along the best of the three with the kittens, even if he’s easily flustered by their wilder shenanigans (he’s nowhere near as patient as Munkustrap, but he tries), and the other two work best as messengers who talk to cats outside of the Tribe.  Prufrock, however, is a charmer, but not in the same way Tugger or Alonzo are.  While those two are more Casanovas with hearts of gold, Prufrock is a Prince Charming who loves sweeping queens off their feet more than playing with their hearts (and causing a little trouble on the side with Pouncival and the gang). 

6. Who are their best friends? You can include characters from the show or tag other people’s OC’s. How popular are they?

The three eldest brothers tend to be a bit standoffish, but Ulysses genuinely likes Munkustrap and Asparagus and has a soft spot for all of the kittens (Etcetera kissed him on the cheek once for rescuing a toy mouse she’d been playing with, and he was mush all day afterward, though he tried very hard to hide it).  And Prufrock loves hanging out with Plato, Pouncival, Tumblebrutus, and Admetus, but occasionally he’ll follow Alonzo around and see if he can learn anything from him.

7. What is their favorite food? Do they prefer human food or something they’ve hunted?

Ulysses and Cavalcanti both love fish, particularly haddock if they can get it.  Orsino’s a frog hunter who likes to see if he can stake them out at the local pond, and Prufrock loves human food.  He is absolutely that cat who will sit by your chair and stare at you until you throw him scraps, and he’ll be your best friend if you let him have jam or marmalade.

8. Do they have any accessories? Scars? Why or why not?

Ulysses has a bad left eye, thanks to a run-in with an alley cat who didn’t take kindly to anyone snooping around their turf, so he wears a little cat-sized monocle on that side.  Cavalcanti wears a tiny black bowtie, and Prufrock has a red collar with rhinestones on it.

9. What style of dance do they work best in?

Cavalcanti isn’t a great dancer—he was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which makes him wobble when he walks, so he sticks primarily to singing.  Ulysses and Orsino are very athletic ballet dancers, and Prufrock specializes in a mix between ballet, modern lyrical, and hip hop.  And they are all very supportive of their wobbly brother.

10. Do they have any sort of magic? Do they fear magic?

None of them have any magic of their own.  Ulysses is healthily cautious around magic, Cavalcanti and Orsino flat-out don’t trust it (the only reason they aren’t scared of Misto is that he’s so small and sweet when he isn’t throwing lightning bolts), and Prufrock loves it.  

11. Any fears?

Ulysses is afraid of losing his brothers, especially Prufrock—he knows the kind of trouble they can get into and hates the idea of not being around to protect them.  Cavalcanti and Orsino are both horribly afraid of knives.  And Prufrock has an irrational fear of being kicked out of the Tribe—every time he does something vaguely mischievous, he’s terrified that Old Deuteronomy is going to throw him out onto the street to die.

12. Do they believe in love? If so, what is their “type” and how do they act when they are in love? If not, then why?

Prufrock is the kind of cat who falls in love with roughly five different people every day—he doesn’t so much have a set “type” as his “type” is always changing depending on who he meets.  He’s very generous with his affections and tries to make anyone he’s involved with feel special.  Cavalcanti and Orsino consider themselves too “busy” to settle down with anybody, and their views of love are quite cynical (Orsino in particular likes to go on long tangents about the more “important” things in life than romance).  And in the middle, there’s Ulysses, who certainly believes in love and that anyone can find it, but thinks of himself as a “realist” who waited too long to find anyone special and is now married to his job.  He does get a little wistful watching the younger kittens with their partners, and he thinks the older couples in the Tribe are incredibly lucky.

13. Do they personally know anyone who has gone up to the Heaviside layer? Do they believe in the Heaviside layer?

They don’t know anyone personally who’s gone there, but they certainly believe in the Heaviside Layer.  Prufrock has his moments of doubt, though, but it’s usually whenever he gets scared of being shunned.

14. Any passions or hobbies? (Ex: Dance, hunting, etc)

The three eldest brothers take their jobs as protectors and messengers very seriously, but they all love to dance.  Ulysses likes entertaining the young ones if he has the time for it, and Cavalcanti and Orsino are avid hunters who use their outings as an excuse to go somewhere they’ve never been to hunt for new prey.  And whenever Prufrock’s not giving his brothers a headache, he likes to just sit and talk with someone he likes as they watch the goings-on in the Junkyard.

15. If a song was sung about them at the Jellicle Ball, what would it be about?

Ulysses gets a song to himself about the duties he takes on for his Tribe and family (maybe Munkustrap sings with him since he can relate so much!), and it sounds like a cut song from A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder—classical-sounding, but with a sense of humor.  Cavalcanti and Orsino get a Gilbert and Sullivan meets Cole Porter buddy song about the places they’ve been around the country and are constantly trying to one-up each other.  And Prufrock gets a “Corner of the Sky”-style I Want Song about the love and adventure he wants in his life away from what Jellicle tradition expects of him.

16. What are their thoughts on some of the main characters in the show? (Ex: Tugger, Munk, Jenny, you get to choose!)

They have generally very high opinions of their Tribe family, even if Cavalcanti isn’t Tugger’s biggest fan.  But they do all have mixed feelings about Grizabella—Cavalcanti and Orsino absolutely refuse to accept her as one of their own after the betrayals the Tribe has suffered (they tend to value loyalty above all else), Ulysses thinks she’s regrettably made her bed and now has to lie in it, and Prufrock is just curious as to what makes her so terrible.  Nothing can be worse than Macavity, in his mind… right?

17. Do they have any secrets they are hiding?

Prufrock couldn’t hide anything if he tried—he’s the sort of cat who always wears his heart on his sleeve, and he’s not nearly as sneaky as he thinks he is.  And as dramatic as Orsino can be, it’s hard for him to keep any secrets as well.  Cavalcanti, however, has a much richer imagination than he lets on, and he likes to mockingly imitate cats he doesn’t like… when their backs are turned because he doesn’t want to get in trouble for disrespect.  And Ulysses privately envies Prufrock’s defiant streak and wishes he could get away with the same things, but knows he must set a good example and would never dream of making Old Deuteronomy angry with him.
