something that keeps coming up if you look at the games’ stories is wily’s accomplishments. or, rather, the lack thereof. the truth is, Wily's actually kind of a shitty roboticist!

he's not very good at making robots, he's much better at modifying robots. i know the series (and a good chunk of fanwork) likes to hype him up as a mad genius of robotics, but he's actually kind of a complete phony. a tremendous hack. a huge fucking fraud. he's the brutal doom of the megaman-'verse, only famous because he used other people's work as a stepping stone. just like angry birds, he’s all about seeing someone else’s successful work and putting his own reskin on it so everyone else associates it with him. he’s not a developer, he’s a modder with delusions of grandeur.

the idea that his work all culminated in Zero and Zero’s the coolest bestest most awesomest robot ever is, frankly, completely laughable when you look at the track record of how many robots he’s actually made and how they’ve fared. his strongest work that’s come the closest to seriously threatening Megaman has never really been his own work. with Bass, Shadow Man, Ra Thor, and the Stardroids, he’s always had something else as a base and modified it to be stronger. even popular fanon is that Roboenza is based off MM8′s Evil Energy, which makes sense.

ironically enough, he does his best modding with weird alien shit. my personal theory is that Zero’s a modified Terra+Sunstar hybrid, utilizing his knowledge of making Ra Thor as a basis, powered by Super-Bassnium. the canon is that he’s based on Protoman, of all fucking people, but that’s completely nonsensical on so goddamn many fronts.

however, he is a fantastic designer. he's much better at making areas that adhere to an aesthetic! he has designed a lot of mini-bots specifically for the sake of complimenting an area, and he's revamped areas multiple times before to have a theme that compliments the Robot Master. even his own castles themselves, he has a clear skull motif that applies to everything and he will be fucking DAMNED if he doesn't see it through. even in megaman 11, we see him complete with a fucking set of skull jammies in a skull bed. the man fucking WILL NOT LIVE without his skulls. he probably wears skull underwear, the fucking nerd.

he’s not a roboticist. he's not even a good programmer, he's an artist. he's a mad artist angry over how his stuff never got views as opposed to that fucking Dr. Light's work, and he spent a lifetime trying to game the algorithm only for this fucking upstart to take it all away from him and get quadruple the subscriber counts in half the time. and now he's making it everyone else's problem.

Megaman had defeated wily many times with the help of roll and his best friend rush the dog "megman using a new proton armor system i have built you a brother called megamanGX he is realy powerful" doctor light said "i hope its not like brian bot again that was mega annoying" megaman said "arf arf haha" rush laughed.

MegamanGX woke up "good to meet you brother lets be an unstoppable team" he sied and they did the epic handshake "looking forward to it mega bro"

meanwhile at Doctor wily layer he was building an evil plot "WITH ZIS NEW MOBILE PHONES APP I CALLED WILY SURFERS I WILL CONTROL ZE MINDS OF THE YOUTH YOU KNOW THE OTHER PLAN" wily said and protoman nodded "yeah you want me to film your brainwashing cartoon show WILY GUY RIGHT"

back at the city megaman, MegamanGX and roll where having a good time at the arcade "you really are an epic gamer brother not to bad" megaman said and they noted evberyone was on phones watching a game with a train where wily was main character and in corner was footage from a cartoon where gutsman was in a white shirt and protoman was in an orange wig "remember the time super mario was at the door" gutsman said and cutsman dressed like a white dog sighed.

"what is this cartoon its really bad and why they watching it and playing this boring game at the same time" megamangx said

thats when protoman came in with a big gun and an army of evil robot masters "OH YOU DON'T GET IT BROTHER AND NEW BROTHER WILY HAS CREATED A NEW WEAPON TO HYPNOTIZE AND DISTRACT EVERYONE SO THEY CANT FIGHT BACK OT RESIST HIM ITS GENIUS" protoman said and shoot at them but they dodged and megamangx did the spincopter kick booting him into the bar. meanwhjile megaman stole icemans power and froze the army.

"We better warn docter light" said megaman

at thelight house they did "yes this game is using multiple distractions to numb the brain and make everyone not want to fight doctor wily we need to shut wily surfers and wily guy down before wilts invasion army takes over" doctor light said as he hacked the terminal

megamanGX went to wily lab "YOU VILL NOT STOP MY PLAN TO RUINS ZE MINDS OF ZE CHILDRAN WITH ZE SLOP CONTANT ONCE MY NEW INVANTION WILYTOK IS READY HAHAHAHAHA" wily laughed sending airman to beat megamanGX up but he went into his booster form before steaing airmans power and using it to blow up wilys super computer shutting the network down "NO YOU FOOL YOU HAVE RUINED EVERYTHING!" Wily said escaping in his ship.

at the partyt everyone was happy "we need to build a better way of things becuse entrainment is good but so is learning and having balance" m,egamangx said to the camera.

Last night I dreamed that I was in a Mega Man RP as "Doctor Wily's robot daughter"; even in the dream I thought it was slightly weird that I was able to get away with doing something like that. There was a big event of unspecified nature which was either being hosted or was set at this big convention. I also had another character present (suggesting that it was some sort of online RP), and I kept jumping between the two roles and I was slightly worried about mixing them up.

I always liked headcannoning that Dr Cossack made *Skull* man to partially get back at Wily. Like: I took your aesthetic, now you can't use *Skull* for a robotmaster theme without being redundant!

But it's kinda funny to think that Wily could have been a really horrible commissioner. Since he forced Cossack to build Skullman.

for context for those who may not be in the know:

cossack was very much into making RMs for working with humanity. love and peace, funny mascot robots, and perhaps a bit of h*ndh*lding in between. thing is, he only made 6. maybe he was a bit behind on corporate mandates, he was still stuck on megaman 1 while everyone else had moved on to megaman X12 or something idk.

in communist russia, however, Wily beats you. both Ring Man and Skull Man only came about after Kalinka was kidnapped and Wily forced him to make more robots to razdavit that little blue dweeb. making robots specifically to fight and destroy went against everything that Cossack stood for, and so he went with the image of a skull to signify the death of an ideal and also a ring to signify i don't know wth the hell. maybe a hole because he got fucked. the ariga megamix manga expanded on this and made it so that Ring Man was designed to be a law enforcer robot, who used his rings as cuffs to lock people down, which is pretty cool, and made Skull Man the sole harbinger of ouch because there's not much else you can do with a skull motif except perhaps piracy and high-stakes dentistry.

but i like the idea that Wily's specifically meddling in Cossack's shit because he's that much of a goddamn egotist and Cossack lashing back by specifically targeting Wily's theme.

A little bit about how MM1 went:

All of the first line were built together, including Time and Oil. However due to Oil and Time's experimental concepts, the two did not premier with the other 6, and were instead intended to stay at Light Labs until they were more finalize. This information upset Time greatly and started his feelings of being incomplete and inadequate.

This does play into Wily's first attempt at taking over. The first 6 were immediately used to start rampaging the city until he got what he wanted. However that didn't mean he left the pair alone. He actually had them set up as a backup and activated them as part of the plan once Rock took down most of the first 6.

The idea was that while Rock was too busy fighting the other 6, he wouldn't be able to step in to stop Time and Oil.

Unfortunately Wily didn't see a blue hedgehog stepping in instead, and the pair were stopped by a very young Sonic.

Trauma for everyone as you can imagine.
