Hey. It's been a while since I've written something and I wanted to put this out there because I finally finished this snippet I've had for years now. This story is part of a much bigger world I created for them and if you'd like to see more of it maybe I'll post more in the future. Hope you enjoy it x

The floorboards creak softly as Beca tiptoes down the hallway, trying not to be too loud. She walks to the doorway where the source of the sounds were coming from. She opens the door to her right slowly and peeks her head into the room.
“Hey baby boy, what’s the matter?” She says, entering the room quickly, making sure to leave the door open a crack so she can exit quietly.
She makes her way over to the toddler bed and crouches down next to it, surveying the little boy in tears. He reaches out for her and she happily accepts him as he crawls into her lap.
“What’sa matter? Why are you sad? Hmm?” Beca asks as she begins to stroke his back in slow circles, now fully sitting on the floor.
“It’s okay sweetheart, it’s okay.” Finn seems to calm down under Beca’s touch, sniffling and breathing heavy against her chest as tears continue to fall from his eyes. She begins to hum softly, rocking back and forth.
*****
Chloe stirs in her bed reaching out for her girlfriend. After a moment she sits up, groggily looking to the alarm clock to find that it’s only 2:47 in the morning, far too early to be awake. The bedroom door is open she notices, so she turns on the light and prepares to get out of bed. She pads across the room with a yawn, eager to find Beca at this late hour. As she enters the hallway, she notices Finley’s door cracked open and some indistinct whispers were coming from the room. She tiptoes down the hall and peeks her head in. Chloe’s eyes welled up with tears as she watched Beca lay next to her son, rubbing his back while humming the tune of “you are my sunshine”. She watches a moment longer before she backs out of the room, leaving it open a crack. Her heart swells as she tip-toes back to her bedroom. A warm smile on her face as she continues to replay the moment in her head.
It was only a minute or two later when Beca returns to the bedroom, a worried look on her face as she closes the door behind her. Chloe stands to greet her.
“I’m sorry I didn’t wake you,” Beca says in a whisper. “You just had a long day and I just wanted you to get some rest, he was pretty upset so I thought I’d just-“
Beca’s words were cut off by Chloe’s body colliding with hers. “Thank you.” Chloe whispers softly into her girlfriends hair. “I..I love that you just did that.”
Beca pulls out of the hug and places her hands on her girlfriends waist. Chloe smiles and cups Beca’s cheeks with her hands stopping to wipe a tear that slid from her own eye. The pair join lips in a soft dreamy kiss.
“Baby…” Beca purrs, slowly guiding Chloe backwards until the backs of her knees hit the edge of the bed and she sits down.
Chloe holds onto her arm and slowly pulls her forward, into another kiss.
“I just can’t believe how good you are.” She whispers scooting away from Beca to her side of the bed.
“Well I try.” Beca giggles as she follows her, sliding under the comforter as Chloe eagerly slides under the covers and into Beca’s side tucking in close. Beca reaches over Chloe to shut off her nightstand light before sliding down, Chloe still hugging her body tightly. Beca holds her girlfriend and listens to the soft sounds of her breathing.
She’s slowly beginning to drift off until she feels something wet on her chest. She waits a brief moment before reacting, only until she feels another wet drip join the first and run down the valley between her breasts.
“Sweetie? Hey, what’s going on?” She speaks softly to the redhead laying on her chest. Beca begins to rub her girlfriends back in circles, her go to comfort tactic. Chloe sniffles,
“I just never thought I’d find someone like you. Someone that loves not only me, but also my son, and you do.”
Beca’s heart skips a beat as she thinks about the two of them.
“Baby, of course I do. You two are without a doubt the two most important people in my life. I care about that little boy like he’s my own, and I hope that one day, he can be.”
“Really?” Chloe says, fully rolling on her stomach so she can better look at Beca, resting her chin on her collarbone and looking into her deep blue eyes.
“Of course, I…I kinda think you’re it for me Chlo.”
“Beca..” Chloe says, her bright blue eyes welling up with tears.
“Don’t cry baby,” Beca says running her hands through her girlfriends hair as Chloe snuggles closer, wrapping an arm around Beca’s torso.
“I just can’t believe you feel that way about me.”
“I really do.” Beca says, her own eyes welling up with tears. She leans down and presses a soft kiss to Chloe’s forehead.
“I feel that way about you too…just so you know.” Chloe says after a moment.
“Oh I know.” Beca smiles and pulls Chloe in to hug her tighter.
Chloe continues to sniffle and wipe her tears as she lays on Beca’s chest holding her close.
After a moment, Beca swallows and looks down at her girlfriend.
“I wanna marry you Chlo, and this isn’t me asking you because I want that to be special, but I just don’t want you to feel insecure about it, because I am so in love with you.”
“Becs…” Chloe starts, propping herself to stare down at her girlfriend. The moonlight cascading through the window hits the corner of her eye, and Beca can see a tear threatening to spill down her cheek.
“I’m in love with you too. You make everything make sense.” She whispers as she leans down for another kiss.

101 ways to say I love you with actions
Beca and Chloe hung back, hovering by the doorway of the newly decorated bedroom, watching as twelve-year-old Levi looked around the room. His hand was tightly gripping the strap of his backpack as if afraid it would be whipped away from him at any second.
He looked so much older than he was. Looking at him it was hard to believe he wasn’t even a teenager yet.
“We can paint it a different colour,” Chloe blurted out, never one to deal with silence very well. “If you don’t like grey. We thought neutral would be best but-”
Beca gently elbowed her in the ribs, and she stopped rambling. Chloe was radiating nervous energy, and Beca didn’t want Levi to pick up on it.
It had all been leading up to this moment. The application forms, the meetings, home visits, parenting classes, all of it had been leading up to this.
They had met Levi a few times now, but this was his first night in their home. In his new home. If it all went well…
They both knew things could still go wrong, they were still a long way off from adoption, but this felt like the biggest step they’d taken so far.
They were both so excited to be finally starting their family. Both so terrified that they were going to mess it all up.
“The colour’s fine,” Levi said, still looking around the room. It wasn’t big, but it was comfortable. Clean and tidy, still smelling of fresh paint. “It’s nice.”
There was a bookcase in the corner that was empty save for a few used paperbacks they thought he might like, mostly ones Beca had gotten from her dad when she was a teenager.
Under the window was an empty desk with a chair tucked neatly underneath, and a wardrobe and chest of drawers lined the wall opposite a double bed. A nightstand stood on either side of the bed. An alarm clock on one side, a lamp on the other.
“It’s a little bare right now,” Chloe said, her nerves bubbling up again in the silence. “But we thought maybe you’d like to pick things out for yourself? We could take a trip to IKEA or something at the weekend? Maybe we could get you some new clothes too while we’re out if you like? We’ve already bought you a few bits, but we don’t know what you like to wear or-”
Another elbow in the side from Beca.
“Or we could get it for you,” Beca said, her voice calm in comparison to Chloe’s babbling, “if you don’t want to come. I know I hated shopping when I was your age.”
“You still hate shopping,” Chloe said.
“Very true,” Beca agreed.
“IKEA sounds like fun,” Levi said. “I’ve never got to pick out my own things before.”
Chloe beamed. “Awesome!”
“We’re gonna let you get settled in,” Beca said. “I need to check in with work, and Chloe is going to finish up dinner. Come and find us if you need anything, okay?”
“Yeah,” Levi said, looking relieved to be given some alone time. “Um, thanks.”
“Mac and cheese for dinner!” Chloe said, brightly. “Ice cream and a movie after, if you eat all your veggies!”
Levi pulled a face. “Veggies?”
“Oh, Chloe will make us eat vegetables with almost every meal, dude. It’s really the only thing that’s wrong with her,” Beca said.
Chloe whacked her playfully on the arm, and Levi laughed before he could stop himself.
“Make yourself at home, okay kid?” Beca said. Levi nodded, and Beca smiled at him before leaving the room and shutting the door behind her.
Instead of going into the kitchen, Chloe followed Beca into her office.
“It seems to be going well,” Chloe said, starting to pace as soon as Beca sat down at her desk. “Right? Like he seems to like it.”
“Yeah,” Beca said, looking up from her computer, watching Chloe walking in circles around the room. “So far so good.”
“Am I being too much? Like, overbearing? I don’t want to be weird and freak him out.”
Beca smiled. “You aren’t being weird. You’re making me dizzy with all the pacing, but you aren’t being weird. You aren’t too much.”
“I’m just so nervous,” Chloe said, wringing her hands.
Beca stood from her desk, and placed her hands on Chloe’s shoulders, stopping her from pacing. “I know,” Beca said. “So am I, and I bet he is too. It’s normal to be nervous when you care about something this much.”
“What if he hates it here? What if he tries to run away like he did at his last foster home? What if we can’t do this, Bec?”
Beca’s hands moved from Chloe’s shoulders to cup her face. “Take a breath,” she said, trying to get Chloe to hold eye contact with her. “We can do this. We know why he ran away from his last home, and we aren’t going to treat him like that, are we?”
Chloe shook her head, tears brimming in her eyes. “Of course not.”
“He isn’t going to have any reason to want to run away from us, and he isn’t going to have any reason to hate it here. I’m sure we’re going to make mistakes, it feels like we’re starting at level 5 of a video game without playing the tutorial first, but I know us. I know we can do this. I know you can do this. Let’s be the parents he never got the chance to have, yeah?”
Chloe swallowed and nodded. “Yeah,” she said, hastily wiping at the tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t think I’d start spiralling so quickly.”
“It’s okay,” Beca said, kissing her forehead. “You don’t need to be sorry. You feel this way because you care a lot, and that’s a good thing. I’m sure I’m gonna have my freak-out moments, and I know you’ll be there to talk me down.”
“We’re going to need to plan them so we don’t both have a meltdown at the same time,” Chloe said, causing Beca to laugh.
“I’ll put a schedule up on the fridge.” She kissed Chloe again, and let her hands drop. “I’m gonna go finish dinner.”
“I thought you had to work?”
“It can wait,” Beca said. “Take a few minutes to get yourself grounded again and then come help me?”
Chloe smiled and nodded. “I love you.”
“Love you too.”
-
“Levi, dinner’s ready!” Chloe called into the hall, spooning mac and cheese onto plates.
Beca was setting the table, putting down placemats and cutlery, her heart soaring as she finally got to set the table for three instead of two.
Levi came into the room and hovered near the door, as if unsure where he should go.
Chloe smiled at him. “Can you grab some glasses out of that cabinet and put them on the table?” She asked him.
He nodded and did what she asked, placing three glasses on the table by a pitcher of water. Beca took the plates from Chloe, and placed one on each mat, glancing at Levi who still seemed uncertain.
“Have a seat wherever you’d like,” Beca said, sitting down in her usual spot. Levi hesitated for a moment before he took a seat next to Beca.
“Okay, dig in,” Chloe said, sitting opposite Beca, smiling as she watched her start removing the broccoli from her own plate and putting it on Chloe’s. “What did I say about eating veggies?”
“And what did I say about making me eat broccoli?”
“It’s good for you,” Chloe said, doing her best to look stern.
“Yeah, it tastes good for me,” Beca replied. Levi laughed, and Beca felt it in her chest.
“Do I need to start hiding it in the mac and cheese again?” Chloe asked.
“Not if you want us to stay married,” Beca said, smirking as she watched Chloe trying not to laugh.
“Hmm, how could I cope without you? What would I do if there was no one hogging all the bed space and letting dishes pile up in their office? I don’t know if I could live that way,” Chloe said, her eyes twinkling at Beca as Levi continued to laugh.
“Ouch,” Beca said. “You’re making me look bad.”
“Maybe next time you’ll just eat your greens.”
They bantered back and forth while they ate, and Chloe felt the nerves she’d been carrying for the last few weeks begin to slowly dissipate. He was here. He was finally home, eating dinner with them, laughing at Beca’s lame jokes.
It had been over a year since she had Beca had decided that adoption was the way they wanted to start their family together, and a little under a year since they’d decided they wanted to adopt an older kid. A kid that was more likely to get lost in the system until they aged out of it.
It had been stressful and emotional, but they’d made it this far. They were parents now.
“I’m stuffed,” Levi said, putting his knife and fork down.
“Not too stuffed for ice cream though, right?” Beca asked.
He shook his head and grinned again.
“I can still see something green on your plate,” Chloe said.
“Don’t worry, I got this,” Beca mumbled to Levi. “Hey, Chloe, what’s that behind you?”
Chloe rolled her eyes but turned anyway, and Beca took the piece of broccoli from Levi’s plate and put it on Chloe’s.
“Now who hasn’t eaten all her vegetables?” Beca asked.
“Don’t laugh, you’ll just encourage her,” Chloe said as Levi practically giggled beside her. It was a contagious laugh and Chloe couldn’t help but join in.
Beca gathered their plates and piled them into the dishwasher before getting the ice cream out of the freezer.
“What movie are we watching?” She asked. “Also, Levi, do you want mint chocolate chip or strawberry shortcake? Or I think we have some vanilla buried in here somewhere?”
“Um, mint please,” he said, standing to help Chloe clear the table.
“Atta boy,” Beca said, scooping out the mint for herself and Levi, followed by the strawberry shortcake for Chloe.
“Go get comfy on the sofa,” Chloe said to Levi. “You can start picking a movie. We’ve got Disney Plus, Netflix, Prime, the whole lot.”
“We have too many,” Beca added.
Levi dropped onto one of the sofas and started scrolling through Disney Plus.
“All good?” Beca asked Chloe quietly.
Chloe nodded, and let her head rest on Beca’s shoulder briefly. “You made him laugh.”
“Yeah,” Beca said. “That felt good. He looked so serious when he got here. So grown up. It was nice seeing him look like a kid again.”
They joined Levi in the living room a few minutes later and Chloe sat on the sofa beside Levi. Beca sat on Chloe’s other side and handed Levi his ice cream.
“Did you pick something?” Beca asked.
“There’s too much choice,” he said with a shake of the head.
“That’s what I’m always saying!” Beca said, her voice triumphant as if she’d just won an argument she was constantly having with Chloe.
“Choice is a good thing,” Chloe countered. “What sort of movies do you usually like?” Levi shrugged. “Comedies? Action? Musicals?”
His eyes flicked in Chloe’s direction.
“You like musicals?” Chloe asked. Levi shrugged again. “Musicals are the best.”
“They’re okay,” Levi said as if he was admitting something embarrassing. He shifted in his seat slightly, his attention focused on his ice cream. “Richard, the, um, the guy from my last foster home, he said musicals were for girls. Girls and fa- I mean, girls and, um, gay people.”
“He doesn’t sound like a very nice guy,” Chloe said, trying to tread carefully.
“He’s also totally wrong,” Beca added. “I’m a girl and I’m gay, and I don’t like musicals.”
Levi grinned, but he didn’t look up from his ice cream. “He was a jerk,” he said.
“So we probably shouldn’t worry about anything he had to say,” Chloe said. “It doesn’t matter what he thinks, because he isn’t here and you don’t have to deal with him anymore.”
“No one here is going to make you feel bad about the things you like,” Beca said. “You’re… You’re safe here, Levi. I know you really don’t know us yet, but, well, we want to be your parents, or guardians if that’s what you’d prefer. We want to take care of you. And we’re going to keep you safe, especially from big jerks like Richard.”
Levi nodded but didn’t say anything else. He seemed embarrassed and maybe a little uncomfortable, so Chloe turned her attention back to the TV.
“Have you seen Hamilton?” She asked.
Levi looked up and shook his head.
“You’ll love it,” Chloe said, clicking on it and hitting play. “Even Beca likes Hamilton.”
Halfway through Beca’s phone rang, so Chloe hit pause on the movie and used it as an excuse to stretch her legs and tidy away their empty bowls.
“Sorry, it’s work,” Beca said, answering the call and quickly leaving the room.
“Do you want a drink or anything?” Chloe asked, carrying the bowls through to the kitchen.
“No thanks,” he said, turning so he was kneeling on the sofa, looking over the back of it at Chloe in the kitchen. He seemed more relaxed now than he had been since he arrived. “Does Beca usually work at night?”
“Sometimes,” Chloe said. “She’s not supposed to, and they aren’t supposed to call her after six anymore.”
“How come?” He asked.
“Because she gets a bit… wrapped up in work. She really loves her job and she’s really good at it, and sometimes she works so hard that she forgets she needs to do other things too.”
“Like what?”
“Like eat, sleep, and spend time with her wife,” Chloe said, glancing towards the door Beca had just left through.
“She forgets to eat?” Levi asked like he’d never heard anything so crazy.
Chloe laughed at the incredulity in his voice and nodded. “It’s happened more than once.”
“She works in music, right?”
“Uh-huh,” Chloe said, returning to sit beside him on the sofa. “She’s a producer. She helps artists make their songs sound as good as possible.”
“And you’re a vet?”
“I am,” Chloe said, grinning. “What do you think you might want to do for a job when you’re finished with school?”
Levi shrugged again. “I don’t know. I’m not really good at anything.”
“I don’t believe that for a second,” Chloe said. “I bet there are lots of things you’re good at. But it’s okay if you don’t know what you want to be yet. I didn’t know I wanted to be a vet until after I’d graduated college.”
“You didn’t? What did you want to be before then?”
“I honestly didn’t know,” Chloe said. “Sometimes it takes people a long time to find their calling, and not everybody has one. Beca has known since she was a kid that she wanted to make music, but I didn’t know until after college what I wanted to do. So it’s okay if you don’t know yet. It’s okay if you never know.”
Levi thought for a moment. “I like to draw,” he said.
Chloe’s eyes lit up again. “You do? That’s so cool! Do you have any drawings you can show me?”
“They aren’t very good,” he said, his ears turning red.
“That’s okay,” Chloe said. “They don’t need to be good, as long as you had fun drawing them.”
“I have my sketchbook in my room,” he said.
“You’ll let me look at it?”
“Yeah,” he said. “Um, I’ll go and get it.”
He returned a few minutes later, holding the sketchbook in his hand like it was his most prized possession, which it likely was.
He tapped his fingers against the cover before sitting beside Chloe on the sofa again.
“You don’t have to show me if you don’t want to,” Chloe said, sensing his hesitation.
“No, it’s okay, I want to,” he said.
He handed over the book and Chloe began carefully turning the pages.
She couldn’t have smiled harder if she tried.
The book was full of drawings of superheroes and comic book characters and even little comic panels he’d drawn up himself.
Chloe could see his drawings improve as she turned the pages. She could see the points when he’d begun to understand proportions and poses. She asked him about the characters, and he seemed embarrassed to admit that he’d come up with a lot of them himself.
“That’s so clever,” Chloe said, turning the pages. “I can’t do anything like this.”
“They aren’t that good,” he said, the tips of his ears glowing red again. “They’re not as good as, like, Spiderman or anyone.”
“Well Stan Lee had to start somewhere,” Chloe said, not wanting to look away from the pages. “What about this guy? What’s his superpower?”
Beca had finished up with her call and had returned to the living room. She leaned against the doorway, her heart practically bursting as she watched Chloe and Levi interact. He was talking to her animatedly now. Excitedly. And she could see the warmth and love in Chloe’s eyes as she hung on his every word.
Chloe glanced up and their eyes met. She was grinning so hard it made Beca want to cry.
Chloe had wanted this for so long. She’d wanted to be a mom, to have a family, for so long.
“Bec, come look at these, they’re so good,” she said, waving her over to the sofa.
“Is that okay?” Beca asked Levi, who nodded. She took the book from Chloe and started looking through it the same way Chloe had. Handling it like it was made of gold, turning each page carefully. “Dude, these are seriously so cool. You came up with all this stuff by yourself?”
“Yeah,” he said, shifting a little closer to Chloe so he could see what Beca was looking at. He pointed to a character on the page that looked like it was in a particularly complex pose. “That one took me ages.”
“I bet,” Beca said. “It looks like you worked really hard on it.”
“I did,” he said, with something like pride in his voice. Beca wondered how many people he’d shown this to. How many people had praised him on it. She hoped they weren’t the first, but judging by his reactions it couldn’t have been many.
The drawings stopped with only a few blank pages left in the book. “You’re almost out of pages,” Beca said, handing the book back.
“Yeah,” he said with a frown. “I’ve been trying to save them so I don’t run out.”
Beca glanced at Chloe. “We’ll have to get you a new one,” Beca said.
His eyes flicked up again. “Really?”
“Of course,” Chloe said. “We can’t leave you with nothing to draw on.”
“We’ll be giving you an allowance each week,” Beca said. “You can spend it on whatever you want.”
“But maybe this could be an extra treat,” Chloe said. “Call it a welcome home present. I think there’s a Michaels close to IKEA. We could go this weekend when we get the stuff for your bedroom?”
“Can we?” He asked, looking between them.
“Yeah, of course we can,” Beca said. “If you want to.”
“I want to,” he said, his eyes lit up with excitement. “Thank you!”
“And here was me thinking I’d have to beg you to come shopping with me,” Chloe said, grinning at the excitement on Levi’s face. “So, are we gonna finish this movie?”
“Yeah,” Levi said, sitting back down, his attention returning to the screen.
Chloe got comfortable beside him as Beca sat on her other side. Beca took hold of her hand and squeezed as she pressed play on the remote with the other.
When the movie was almost done, Chloe felt her chest get tight as Levi let his head rest on her shoulder. She squeezed Beca’s hand, who glanced over and smiled.
When the credits rolled Levi sat up and stretched.
“Think it might be time for bed,” Beca said, checking her watch and yawning. “Do you want to take a drink of water or something to bed with you Levi?”
“Yes please,” he said, and Beca stood to go and get him one, ruffling his hair as she passed.
“Did you enjoy it?” Chloe asked, turning off the TV.
“Yeah,” he said. “I really liked it.”
“I’m so glad you like musicals,” Chloe said. “Now I’ll have someone to watch them with.”
“You’re really taking a bullet for me here, dude,” Beca said, handing him his water.
He took it with a smile and followed them down the hall to his room.
“We sleep just across the hall,” Chloe said as they hovered in the doorway again. “Come get us if you need anything, okay?”
He nodded and put his glass down on his nightstand. Then, after a few seconds of hesitation, he took a step toward Chloe and wrapped his arms around her.
She hugged him back quickly, looking at Beca as her eyes filled with tears.
“I’m so happy you’re here, Levi,” she said.
“Me too,” he said.
When the hug ended, he turned and did the same to Beca, catching her slightly off guard. She hugged him back, a hand coming to ruffle through his hair again.
“Night kid,” she said when the hug was over.
“Night,” he said back.
“Sleep tight,” Chloe said.
“Thanks,” he said. “Goodnight.”
They closed his door behind them and went into their own room, neither speaking until the door was closed.
“He hugged us,” Chloe said. “He likes us, Bec.”
“Yeah,” Beca said, letting out a shaky laugh of disbelief, tears springing to her eyes. Chloe pulled her into a hug and kissed the side of her head. “I’m so happy he’s here. I’m so happy he’s home.”
“Me too,” Chloe said. “Me too.”

25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2022
Day 15 - My Spy Christmas
Summary: This is set 2 years after the end of my fic "My Spy."
Beca has been trying to get pregnant again, but two attempts have failed so far. She and Chloe agreed to try one more time; if that one fails, Chloe will try. Her Uncle Matt asks Chloe to help with "one last" case before he retires. Will Chloe agree to help, possibly derailing her and Beca's pregnancy dreams?
Two weeks before Christmas, two-year-old Billy Beale sat on the sofa watching his mama, Chloe, pace back and forth while talking on the phone with her Uncle Matt. Matt had just asked Chloe about helping him with one last case before he retired from the FBI.
"I'll have to talk to Beca about this, Uncle Matt," Chloe said. "Because if I do this, we'll have to find someone to take care of Billy while I'm gone."
"It will only be a couple of days," Matt said. "No more than a week tops."
Chloe heard Beca's car pull into the garage.
"I have to go," Chloe said. "Beca's home. I'll call you later."
Chloe ended the call. She picked up Billy and settled him on her hip.
"Mommy's home, Billy," Chloe said as they went to greet Beca.
"Yay, mommy home," Billy said, clapping.
"Hey," Beca said, kissing Chloe and Billy as she came in.
"How was your day?" Chloe asked.
"Tiring," Beca said, taking Billy from Chloe. "I just want to relax and cuddle with my two favorite people."
Beca hugged Billy and kissed his cheek.
"I haven't started anything for dinner yet," Chloe said. "Want me to order something? We can start the cuddling sooner."
"I love that idea," Beca said. "What are you in the mood to eat, Billy?"
"Peeza," Billy said, giggling and clapping.
"Pizza it is," Chloe said, smiling. "I'll call it in. Why don't you take Billy into the living room, and I'll be right in?"
"Okay," Beca said, leaving Chloe in the kitchen. "Want to watch Trolls, B-man?"
"Yes," Billy said, nodding his head.
"Let's do it," Beca said, sitting Billy on the sofa.
"Twolls, twolls, twolls," Billy chanted as Beca scrolled to find it.
"Give me a minute," Beca said, laughing.
"Pizza will be here in about forty minutes," Chloe said as she joined Beca and Billy on the sofa.
"Peeza, yay!"
"So, how was your day?" Beca asked Chloe as the movie began.
"Interesting," Chloe said.
"How so?" Beca asked.
"Uncle Matt called," Chloe said.
"Shhh, mama," Billy said. "Hear Poppy."
"Sorry, Billy," Chloe said, turning to Beca. "I'll tell you about the call later."
"Okay," Beca said. "I need to tell you something, too."
"Shhh!"
Beca smiled at Billy and chuckled softly. "Sorry, Mr. Bossy Pants."
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2022 ~~
After dinner and another movie, Chloe bathed Billy and put him to bed.
"He's out," Chloe said as she joined Beca on the sofa.
"M'kay," Beca said, covering a yawn. "So, what did Uncle Matt call about?"
Chloe chewed her lip as Beca yawned again.
"You're tired," Chloe said. "Why don't you go to bed? We can talk about it tomorrow."
"Are you sure?" Beca asked as she stood and stretched.
"I'm sure," Chloe said.
"You're the best," Beca said, leaning down to kiss Chloe. "I think I may take a quick bath before I go to bed."
"Okay," Chloe said. "I'm going to clean up a bit and will be up shortly. I love you."
"Love you, too," Beca mumbled as she made her way to the stairs.
The following day, Chloe was up early. She found herself pacing back and forth in the kitchen while waiting for the coffee to brew.
"How do I tell Beca I will be gone for a week right before Christmas?" Chloe thought as she paced. "I quit the FBI because it was dangerous, and we're trying to have another baby. But this case goes back to the drug smuggling case I worked on while at Barden. It would be exciting to be back in the field and help shut down a large smuggling operation for good."
"You're up early," Beca said, causing Chloe to yelp in surprise.
"You scared me," Chloe said, holding a hand to her chest. "What are you doing up? I thought you were off today."
"I have an appointment this morning," Beca said. "Then I'm off the rest of the day."
"Do you have a few minutes to talk before you leave for your appointment?"
"Sure," Beca said. "Is everything okay?"
"My Uncle Matt is planning to retire at the end of the year," Chloe said. "And he asked me to help on his last case."
Beca crossed her arms over her chest and took a deep breath as if to say something, but Chloe spoke first.
"I know what you're going to say," Chloe said, raising a hand to stop Beca from saying anything. "And you're right. I quit teaching to be a stay-at-home mom, so if I do this, we'd have to find someone to take care of Billy while I'm gone. But I feel like I need to help so the FBI can bring closure to everything and possibly shut down the Barden smuggling operation permanently."
"So, this is about Barden," Beca mumbled. "Let me ask you this, do you miss being in the FBI?"
"I'm not going to lie, I kind of miss the excitement that came with the job."
"Are you sorry you quit?"
"No," Chloe said quickly. "I love what we have together. You and Billy are my world."
"Do you still want us to have another baby?"
"Of course, I still want that. I just thought maybe we could put that on hold for a little while. Not for long, just until after the holidays."
"What about Christmas? Will you be home for it?"
"I think so. Uncle Matt said I'd only be needed for a couple of days. A week at most."
Beca pursed her lips and crossed her arms over her chest; she rubbed a hand up and down her arm.
"I'm not going to tell you to turn down the job, Chloe," Beca said.
"But you won't be happy if I take the job," Chloe stated.
Beca walked over to Chloe and put her arms around Chloe's neck, and kissed her.
"I love you," Beca said. "And I can tell you want to do it. Billy and I will manage no matter what you decide. We're not going anywhere."
"So, are you saying that you're okay with me telling Uncle Matt that I'll help him?" Chloe asked.
"If that's what you want," Beca said. "Just promise me one thing."
"Anything," Chloe said.
"Promise me you'll keep your head down and do everything in your power to come back to me, to us," Beca said. "I can't bear to think about what might happen to Billy and me if you don't make it back. We love you."
"I love you, guys, too," Chloe said, hugging Beca tightly. "And I promise you, I will be careful."
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2022 ~~
"Thank you, doctor," Beca said as she left the doctor's office.
Beca sighed as she made her way to the car and got in. She looked out the window and sighed while running a hand through her hair.
"Now, what do I do?" she muttered to the empty car.
After a moment, she pulled out her phone and looked at it. She finally found the contact she wanted and pressed call.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Aubrey, it's Beca. Do you have a minute to talk?"
"Sure," Aubrey said. "What's going on? Is Billy okay? Is Chloe okay?"
"They're both fine," Beca said.
"What about you?" Aubrey asked. "How are you?"
"How am I? That's the million-dollar question."
"Are you okay?"
"I, um, I just found out that I'm pregnant."
"Congratulations!" Aubrey said, sounding relieved. "That's wonderful news. I bet Chloe and Billy are excited."
"Um, Chloe doesn't know yet," Beca said. "When I said I just found out, I meant that literally. I'm sitting in the parking garage by my doctor's office right now."
Beca then proceeded to tell Aubrey about Matt asking Chloe to work with the FBI again. She also told Aubrey about the conversation she and Chloe had that morning.
"So, I'm wondering if I should tell Chloe now that I'm pregnant or wait until she is done with the assignment," Beca said.
"Do you think she'll decline the job if you tell her now?" Aubrey asked.
"I, uh, I really don't know," Beca said.
Beca quieted for a moment and stared at nothing through the windshield. Aubrey waited patiently, knowing Beca had more to say.
"God, Aubrey. You should have seen the way her eyes lit up talking about it," Beca said. "I can't take that away from her."
"Maybe you should tell her anyway and let her decide," Aubrey said.
Beca scoffed but didn't say anything.
"Okay, try this," Aubrey said. "Imagine her reaction to finding out you knew you were pregnant before she left."
Beca thought about it and sighed.
"She'd be upset with me," Beca stated.
"Right," Aubrey said. "And how would you feel if something happened to Chloe without her knowing about the baby?"
"I'd beat myself up about it," Beca said.
"Right again," Aubrey said. "So, which scene would you want to actually have play out?"
"Why do you have to have to be so damned reasonable all the time?" Beca laughed.
"If you wanted someone to tell you what you wanted to hear," Aubrey said. "You wouldn't have called me."
"You're right," Beca chuckled. "Thanks, Aubrey."
"Anytime, Beca," Aubrey said. "And congratulations on the baby."
"Thanks," Beca said and ended the call.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2022 ~~
After parking the car in their garage, Beca sat, thinking about what she was going to say to Chloe. She stayed where she was until she saw Chloe standing in the doorway, holding Billy and staring at her.
Beca got out of the car and walked over to Chloe.
"Are you okay?" Chloe asked. "You've been out here for a while."
"I was thinking," Beca said.
"Come inside and tell me what you were thinking about," Chloe said, moving aside to allow Beca to enter.
"Do you want to sit in here or go into the living room?" Chloe asked.
"Here's fine," Beca said, taking a seat at the counter.
Chloe put Billy in his booster seat and asked, "Want a snack, sweetie?"
"Billy shook his head, so Chloe placed a toy car in front of him.
"So, how did your appointment go?" Chloe asked.
"It was good," Beca said. "Did you talk to Uncle Matt yet?"
"Not yet," Chloe said. "I was waiting until you got back. What you tell me next will determine what I tell him. All I need to know is, are you pregnant?"
Beca's head snapped up to look at Chloe.
"How did you know?"
"I didn't," Chloe said. "But when you said you had an appointment this morning, I guessed it was to get tested. So, are you?"
"Yes, I'm pregnant," Beca said.
Chloe jumped up and pulled Beca into a hug. "I'm so excited. This is amazing news I'm going to call Uncle Matt right now."
Chloe turned to go; Beca grabbed her arm, stopping her.
"Wait," Beca said. "What are you going to tell him?"
"That something more important came up, and I won't be available to help," Chloe said, smiling at Beca.
"But, I thought you were looking forward to helping him," Beca said.
"I was," Chloe said. "But, it's just a job. You're more important, and I want to be here with you and Billy. I know we should wait until you're through the first trimester, but can I tell him and Aunt Peggy about the baby?"
"Sure. I mean, Aubrey knows," Beca confessed. "I had a moment and called her for advice."
"Advice for what?"
"On whether I should tell you I was pregnant before you left," Beca said. "Or wait until you got back to tell you."
"I'm glad you told me now," Chloe said. "I would have been very upset with you if you hadn't."
"I know," Beca said, smiling. "That's why I'm telling you now. Although I wasn't expecting you to choose to turn down the job with your Uncle Matt so quickly."
"Did you really think I'd choose to leave over staying with you?" Chloe asked. "That makes me sad."
"I'm sorry," Beca said, pulling Chloe to her. "I saw how happy you were about working with the FBI again, and I didn't want to take that away from you."
"Boy, we're quite the pair, aren't we?" Chloe said, chuckling. "You want to do everything in your power to make sure I'm happy, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure you're happy."
Chloe kissed Beca before adding, "For the record, my staying home with you and Billy will make me very happy."
"Me, too," Beca said, pulling Chloe in for another kiss.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2022 ~~
Christmas morning found Beca and Chloe cuddled together, talking about when to tell the Bellas of Beca's pregnancy.
"Mama?" Billy's voice came through the monitor.
Beca and Chloe got up and went to Billy's room.
"Santa come?" Billy asked as Chloe lifted him from his crib.
"Yes, sweetie," Chloe said. "Santa came."
"Can you take care of him and bring him down after you change him?" Beca said. "I'll get the coffee started."
"Okay," Chloe said.
Beca kissed Chloe and left the room.
A few minutes later, Chloe held Billy's hand as they went down the steps. Billy stopped and gawked at the tree and all the presents. Beca came in carrying coffee for her and Chloe and a sippy cup for Billy.
Beca and Chloe sat on the floor with Billy as he grabbed a gift to open.
"Mommy, open?" Billy said, holding the present.
"Come here," Beca said, sitting Billy in front of her.
Beca tore a small piece of wrapping paper and placed Billy's hand on it. Billy ripped it off.
"Mine?" Billy asked when he saw the truck.
"Yes, it's yours," Beca said, chuckling.
"Yay," Billy squealed.
Chloe sat watching with a content smile on her face. She sighed, and Beca looked up to see Chloe looking at her.
"What?" Beca said.
"I was just thinking," Chloe said.
"About?" Beca asked as Billy handed her another gift to help open.
"About this," Chloe said, waving her hand around them. "And how this is all the excitement I need in my life."
Beca crawled over to Chloe and kissed her. Chloe set her cup down and took Beca's face in her hands, and deepened the kiss.
"I love you," Beca said when the kiss ended.
"I love you, too," Chloe said. "Merry Christmas!"

Incorrect BeChloe quotes
(Domestic Bechloe)
Stacie - shorty’s walking gingerly today…what’s up
Chloe - she’ll be ok. We had a little misunderstanding last night. But we worked it out.
Tumblr media
Aubrey - don’t you dare hold out on your sisters. Details…
Chloe - in bed last night I told her to make me scream using two fingers
Stacie - my girl has come a long way, but that’s far too ambiguous
Chloe - right, so after she ‘tried’ poking my eyes, she got the job done
Aubrey - and the reason she’s walking funny today…?
Chloe - nothing’s ambiguous anymore

43. out of greed
"Chloe, Chlo-" Beca laughs as Chloe pulls her in for another, "Babe I have to go."
"One more, one more," Chloe says, grinning against Beca's lips as she presses her own on them for the fifth time that morning, "I promise you this is the last one."
"Mhm." Beca finds herself skeptical as she feels her girlfriend's arms tighten around her neck. She pulls away from the kiss, looks down at Chloe, convincing herself that her work is very much incredibly important lest she ditches it to stay at home to do domestic things, such as more kissing. "You said that the last time."
"Yeah, well." Chloe shrugs and then smiles innocently like it's not a big deal. "I'm greedy, what can you do. People get to fawn over you for hours straight a day and I only get you for half that time. It's just not fair."
"I literally live at this apartment with you."
"Not enough."
"Chloe." Beca sighs like she's exasperated but her heart is fluttering with affection all the same. "I will make today's session as short and concise as possible, okay? Now eat your breakfast, it'll get cold."
Chloe pouts but she finally unwraps her arms from around Beca's neck, allowing Beca space to stop bending over at the waist and adjust her blazer. "Fine."
Beca peers out of the corner of her eye. Something pulls guiltily at her in the center of her chest and before she knows it, she is already spinning Chloe's chair, planting a hand on the wall, and mumbling into Chloe's mouth.
"Okay, maybe just this last time."

Domesticity questions, bechloe edition (for science):
who would propose first 👀
who would choose the name of their firstborn
who would help their kid cover up trouble from the other parent before they come home and see
who would overreact to their kid getting bullied and why is it Beca because she would totally square up against a 5 year old
i don’t know what inspired this ask but let’s see!
1 - beca would definitely propose first for the very simple reason that i think chloe is too empathetic not to wait for beca to emotionally reach the place where’s she’s fully comfortable at the idea of marriage. HOWEVER chloe would DEFINITELY have a diligently chosen ring at hand, to give to beca too as soon as she proposes “because i wanted us to match, bec”
2 - they’d both choose it together. i can see them discussing baby names over chloe’s huge belly and at some point the baby kicks and that’s a name decided right there. and then they’d repeat the process for the middle name; however, the one who’s suggestion the baby “agreed with” for the first name would insist the other one goes over suggestions for the middle name, for things to be fair
3 - definitely beca, bc in my mind she’s the “cool” parent in a way. plus, chloe has much more defined ideas on parenting and “conspiring” isn’t really one of them. ofc i feel like i should say that the cover up would have nothing to do with avoiding getting the kid yelled at by the other parent; neither of them ever yell at their kid (which took some very conscious practise bc they’re normal people who get upset after all)
4 - i love how these are domesticity questions and yet we got one abt their kid being bullied sdfghj i really wanna stress here that i don’t feel comfortable with answering this question in a humoristic manner - so i think that neither of them would engage with the kid bullying their own (even tho both of them, understandably, would have the urge to) and instead they’d definitely go after the school (if the event(s) happened there) and the parents/guardians of the kid; and they’d alternate in taking the lead whenever one of them got too upset

Hey @falling-forever-in-a-hole! Merry Pitchmas! 🎄💗
I was your secret santa this year!! I know it’s a little late but I hope you like it! I hope you had a good Christmas!!
Title: The Puuurfect Gift
Pairing: Bechloe
Chapters: 1/1
Word Count: 1574
Summary: Just a quiet Christmas Eve day with Beca and Chloe and their cats!
Read on AO3 or below
Beca woke with a gentle arm draped over her waist and a rough licking to her cheek.
“Mmm.” She grumbles reaching the arm not wedged underneath Chloe up to her face to block it from Bagheera who was sitting next to her pillow, staring at her with wide eyes.
“Please, five more minutes.” She says to the small creature as if he would understand. Bagheera’s yellow eyes continue to stare at her before he leans forward to lick the hand covering her cheek.
“Where are you going?” Chloe sleepily whines, reaching out for her fiance who was already halfway out of bed.
“I’ll be back, I’m just gonna feed the cats and grab some coffee.” Beca stands all the way up and begins to head toward the door.
“Wait,” Chloe whispers loudly, eyes still closed as she puckers up her lips. Beca sighs but doesn’t hesitate to turn around and walk back over to the bed to kiss Chloe.
“I love you too.” She whispers before turning around again to head out the door. Bagheera jumps down from the bed and happily trots to catch up with Beca before slinking out the door right in front of her.
If there was one thing Beca loved almost as much as Chloe, it was sleep, and ever since they had adopted Bagheera back in October, there was barely a day Beca could sleep past eight-thirty. She sleepily makes her way to the kitchen and turns on the coffee maker, grabbing two mugs from the cupboard over the machine. “Good morning Scoutie,” She says as she turns around to meet their other cat who now sits on the island across from her.
“You want some food? Huh?” Beca says, petting her head gently. She walks across the kitchen to the cabinet and grabs both cats food bowls out, then heads for the pantry where they keep the food. One full scoop for each cat and Beca is returning to the kitchen. She walks past where Scout is patiently waiting on the island and rounds the corner to place the bowls on the floor next to the fridge. Bagheera walks out of the pantry where he had followed Beca and trots over to where Scout is already eating happily. Beca gives a little half smile at her and Chloe’s two pets and returns to the coffee maker to pour her and her fiancé some coffee. She doctors each of them up to their preferred likings and begins to head back to the bedroom. When she arrives, Chloe is propped up on her elbows scrolling through her phone.
“Fancy a latte?” Beca smiles upon entering the room.
“Becs, how many times do I have to tell you, it’s not a latte, just because you added a splash of milk.”
“Okay then here’s your weird coffee with a ‘splash of milk’.” She mimics Chloe.
“What should we do today?” Beca says, handing Chloe her mug and carefully crawls back into bed beside her.
“Well,” Chloe says groggily. “I know I wanna make Christmas cookies to bring over to my moms tomorrow, so we can do that at least.”
“Okay,” Beca says as she subconsciously strokes Chloe’s back.
“Can we just lay here a little longer though? We never get quiet mornings like this.” Chloe says, scootching closer to rest her head on Beca’s chest. She reaches over Beca, setting her cup on the nightstand and snuggling closer to her fiancé.
“The cats are eating, so yes, I think that can be arranged.” Beca smiles down at Chloe, reaching over to set her own mug down before kissing her on the forehead.
A few hours later, after finally convincing Chloe that they can still have a nice quiet Christmas eve in, even if they get out of bed, Beca finds herself in the kitchen cleaning up what was left of brunch while Chloe tries to decide on an outfit for Christmas day. Upon finishing wiping down the counter where the two sat eating eggs and toast a few minutes prior, She tosses the sponge into the sink and heads down the hall toward their room to find Chloe.
“Hey, babe? I’m gonna run out to get the ingredients for cookies now,” Beca says as she steps into their shared closet behind Chloe.
“That’s actually good, I have a few little things to finish wrapping for you,” Chloe replies, a red knit dress held up in front of her as she stands in front of the mirror. “Do you think this looks stupid?” She questions, turning to the side and smoothing her hands down her front.
“No, that dress is adorable Chlo!” She responds honestly. “I love it when you wear red.” Chloe turns and looks at her fiancé with adoration.
“Bundle up, okay? It’s chilly today.” She says.
“I will, do you need anything?” Beca replies.
“No,” Chloe says, “be careful.”
The two share a kiss and Beca smiles as she exits the room.
When Beca returns hours later, Chloe doesn’t even question it. Beca has a habit of doing things last minute, so knowing her, she’s probably arriving home with more than just cookie ingredients.
“Don’t look!” Beca calls, opening their apartment door and slinking in.
“Why? What’d you get me?” Chloe says playfully as she keeps her back turned towards the door.
“Just a lil, something….” Beca says upon seeing her fiance standing at the sink in the kitchen to her left. “Go sit by the tree, I’ll be out in a few.”
Chloe feels giddy as she does as she’s told, grabbing the mugs of hot cocoa she was making and turning around to head towards the living room. She stops at the fridge, sets the mugs down on the island, and turns to grab the whipped cream from the fridge. She squirts a little into her own mug and a little extra into Beca’s before smiling to herself and licking a little bit of the missed topping from her fingers.
‘You want some Scout?” She says addressing the brown and black striped cat at her feet. The cat meows and rubs her head along her calf, almost paying no mind to her human, but suddenly looks up as her owner crouches down to offer the smallest amount of whipped cream from her pointer finger. Scout accepts the gesture gratefully letting off the softest purr and Chloe smiles as she rises back up on her feet and wipes her finger on her pant leg.
“Are you by the tree?” Beca calls from the closed guest room door.
“Hold on!” Chloe replies grabbing the mugs again and running into the living room. She grabs two coasters and slides them over using the mugs to her desired place at the edge of the coffee table placing them down on top.
“Okay!” She calls again.
Beca steps out of the guest bedroom biting her bottom lip.
“Close your eyes babe.” She instructs as she approaches Chloe who now sits in front of the tree on her knees.
She holds a decorative square gift box in her hands carefully hiding the lid up until she can set it on the floor in front of Chloe. Her fiancé sits anxiously with a nervous smile on her face. As she rises her hands to cover her eyes.
“Okayyyy,” Beca says as she reaches Chloe, setting the small box on the floor in front of her and briefly adjusts the lid to close all the way.
“Open!” She says and Chloe excitedly moves her hands away from her eyes. She smiles at Beca before her eyes drift down to the little box placed in front of her.
“What did you get me!” She says, hands reaching for the lid.
“Oh my god, babyyyyy.” Chloe whimpers as her hands drop the lid and immediately reach out to grab her gift.
“Merry Christmas!” Beca replies, a wide smile on her face as she watches Chloe’s expressions change to a happy, teary-eyed one.
“Where did you get her?” Chloe says with wide eyes. She stares with love at the little white kitten she now holds in her lap, a big red bow carefully fastened to her collar.
“Mrs. Gladwell’s cat had kittens and her son is trying to sell them. This little guy was the last one.” Beca says as she watches the little kitten squirm under Chloe’s grip.
“She’s so cute! I’ve always wanted an all-white kitten.”
“I know baby.” Beca smiles. “She’s perfect. She’s got your eyes.”
Chloe laughs lifting the kitten to look into her equally ocean blue eyes.
“She kinda does!” Chloe giggles through teary eyes.
“What do you wanna call her?”
“What about Luna?” Chloe replies without hesitation.
“Did you have that one picked out?” Beca smiles.
“Maybe,” Chloe says, only half paying attention now to Beca’s teasing words.
Bagheera appears from behind Beca, carefully inspecting this new intrusion. He runs his body along Beca’s leg as she mirrors Chloe’s position, and slowly approaches Luna for the softest sniff. Scout approaches not far behind her brother, taking note of the small new kitten from a short distance before disappearing again behind Beca.
“That’s good, right? They’re getting along?” Beca quetsions as Chloe wipes her face.
“I think so. We’ll have to watch them with her, but ugh, baby, thank you. I love her.” She smiles.
“Of course, Merry Christmas Chlo.”
“Merry Christmas Bec.”

-
Chloe sank a little further into the tub, smiling as the hot water rose above her shoulders and lapped against the bottom of her ears.
She could hear the delighted squealing of her two girls downstairs, and she knew they’d be running laps around Beca.
She felt a tightness in her chest that she was missing out on this precious Christmas Eve excitement, but the thought of cutting her bath short seemed impossible.
She needed this.
She slid a little further into the water and it rose up to cover her ears. The noises coming from downstairs became muffled and distant.
It had been a busy week at the veterinary surgery - too many dogs that had gotten into their owner’s Christmas chocolate supply - and she’d had to beg and swap shifts to be allowed Christmas Day off.
So she hadn’t really been feeling the Christmas spirit and she knew that Beca, who had been home with the girls all week, could tell.
Getting home after another gruelling 10 hour shift, all Chloe wanted to do was sink into a bath and then spend the remainder of Christmas Eve with her family.
“Mama’s home!” Six-year-old Alice squealed as soon as Chloe had made it through the door.
Beca rounded the corner after her, one-and-a-half-year-old Olivia sitting on her hip, and a Santa hat on her head.
Chloe wished she could take a picture of this moment and show it to the Beca she met over ten years ago.
“Mama,” Olivia said, wriggling in Beca’s arms, her own chubby arms outstretched towards Chloe.
“Charming,” Beca said, smiling as she allowed Chloe to scoop the baby into her own arms. “Hi.”
“Hi,” Chloe said, a tired smile on her own face as she pressed a kiss to Olivia’s cheek. Her free hand ruffled Alice’s hair.
“Mama, we’re getting pizza for dinner but it’s a surprise so don’t tell anyone!” Alice said, practically vibrating from the excitement of Christmas. She and Olivia were already dressed in their matching Christmas Eve pyjamas, and Chloe felt a pang knowing she’d missed yet another bath time this week.
“I’ll be sure to keep it a secret,” Chloe said. “Are we going to stand in the hallway all night?”
Alice giggled and ran off towards the living room.
“I ran you a bath,” Beca said, taking Olivia back out of Chloe’s arms and setting her down on her unsteady feet. She hesitated for a moment before toddling off after Alice. Beca straightened up and pressed a kiss to Chloe’s cheek and another on the corner of her mouth. “I left room so you can top it up, I know you like it hotter than the sun.”
“Thank you,” Chloe said, grinning as she stole a final kiss from Beca. They spent a calm moment together, quietly kissing in the entryway of their home, before Chloe spoke up again. “The kids are too quiet.”
“I’m on it,” Beca said. “Go relax, I’ll let you know when the pizza’s here.”
“You’re the best.”
Chloe climbed the stairs up to their bathroom, and couldn’t help but smile at the sight.
There was a half-full bath, a bunch of unlit candles with a lighter set out of reach of the kids, a glass of wine, and new Lush bath bomb which was sitting on a note.
Chloe would recognise Beca’s untidy handwriting anywhere.
‘A Christmas Eve treat for the best wife in the world.
B x’
Chloe topped up the bathtub with more hot water, and took a drink of her wine before she pulled off her clothes.
She wasn’t sure how long she’d been soaking for, but she knew she’d probably stay there all night if she didn’t move soon.
Her wine was long gone, the temperature of the water was starting to dip again, so she reluctantly climbed out of the tub.
Beca had left their fluffiest towel warming on the radiator, and Chloe quickly wrapped it around her as the cold air in the room bit at her skin.
She made quick work of blowing out the candles before doing a half-naked dash from the bathroom to her’s and Beca’s bedroom.
On the bed was another little gift from Beca, with another handwritten note.
‘Yes, I got us matching Christmas pyjamas. Don’t make a big deal out of it.
B x’
Chloe almost squealed as she pulled on her new pyjamas - red with white snowflakes - and a fresh pair of fluffy socks.
Christmas really was her favourite holiday, and the fact that she hadn’t been feeling excited about it was getting her down.
Seeing all these little things that Beca was doing to raise her spirits was just another thing that helped her realise how lucky she was to have her as a wife.
“Chlo’! Pizza’s here!” Beca called, as the noise from downstairs picked up.
“Nice hat,” she heard the pizza guy say to Beca as she handed over some cash.
“Thanks,” Beca replied. “Happy Holidays!”
“You too!”
“Can we watch a movie with our pizza, Mommy?” Alice asked, following Beca into the kitchen.
“Hmm, I dunno,” Beca said. “We’ll have to see what Mama says.”
“I think Mama’s okay with it,” Chloe said, entering the kitchen behind her wife and daughters, scooping up Olivia as she walked. “But just this once.”
“Someone looks very cute and festive,” Beca said, grinning at her in her own set of matching pyjamas.
“I could say the same about you,” Chloe said. Beca put a few slices of pizza onto a plate and then handed it to Chloe. Olivia reached out to grab them. “Not yet, baby,” Chloe said. “Too hot.”
“Alice, can you carry your plate?” Beca asked, handing her other daughter another plate with pizza on it.
“Uh huh,” Alice said, taking it and carrying it into the living room.
Beca balanced hers and Chloe’s pizza box on Olivia’s highchair before carrying both into the living room.
Chloe followed, still trying to keep the plate of hot pizza out of Olivia’s reach.
“What are we watching Ally?” Beca asked once Olivia was settled in her highchair.
“Uhhh Elf!”
“Elf again, huh?” Beca asked, picking up the remote and switching on Netflix. “Haven’t we watched that one like three times this month?”
“But it’s my favourite,” Alice said, turning to give her mom her best Chloe-Beale-eyes.
“Fine,” Beca said, smiling and rolling her eyes.
“Mama,” Olivia said, wriggling in her chair, trying to get to her still too-hot pizza.
“Still too hot,” Chloe said. Olivia puffed up her cheeks and blew out. Chloe laughed. “Clever girl,” she said, gently blowing on the pizza in her hand. “Here you go.”
Chloe set a slice of pizza on the highchair in front of her, and Olivia let out a squeal of delight.
“If only you were this enthusiastic when I made your lunch,” Beca said, laughing as Olivia grabbed a fistful of toppings and cheese and put them in her mouth, smearing tomato sauce over her face in the process. “Good. I’m glad I decided to bath you before dinner.”
Once Olivia was finished, Beca got up and cleaned off her hands and face, grabbed her a sippy-cup filled with water, and sat her on the sofa between her and Chloe.
Alice, who had been sitting on the floor with her pizza, scooted back so her back was resting against the sofa.
It didn’t take long before Olivia’s eyes were starting to droop. She was curled up on Chloe’s lap, her thumb in her mouth with her other hand playing with her hair.
“Okay, I think it’s bedtime for this little one,” Chloe said.
“Do you want me to-”
“No, I got it,” Chloe said, smiling.
“We’ll pause it,” Alice said, “so you don’t miss any.”
Chloe laughed because they’d all seen Elf a thousand times by now. “Thank you,” she said.
While Chloe took Olivia to bed, Beca and Alice tidied up the living room.
“Do you think Mama is feeling better?” Alice asked as she watched Beca wipe down the highchair.
“I dunno, I think so. What do you think?” Beca asked.
Alice thought for a moment before she nodded. “I think so too. She smiled with her whole face, not just her mouth.”
Beca washed and dried her hands before she ruffled them through Alice’s long brown hair.
“You’re pretty observant, aren’t you?”
“What does that mean?”
“It means you pay attention. You notice all the little details that other people might miss,” Beca said. She sat on one of the chairs by the kitchen table, and lifted Alice up onto her lap.
Beca had been able to see the change in Chloe over the past few weeks. The way it was getting harder for her to get out of bed in the morning. The way she’d stopped singing in the shower. The way she was feeling less and less enthusiastic about, well, everything.
She’d known Chloe since college, so she knew what was going on.
But she hadn’t expected Alice to pick up on it too.
“Is it a bad thing being obser… observant?” Alice asked. Beca pressed a kiss to her daughter's head.
“No baby girl,” Beca murmured. “It’s a really good thing.”
Alice had noticed when the sparkle started slipping from Chloe’s eyes, and she’d asked Beca about it earlier in the week.
“I think Mama’s sad about something.”
How do you explain depression to a six-year-old?
Beca just told her that sometimes her Mom got sad but it wasn’t any one’s fault. Like how Alice sometimes got sick with a stomach ache or cold, this worked the same way.
“Can we make her better? Like with medicine?”
“Yeah,” Beca had said. “She has medicine she can take sometimes. But we can help in other ways too.”
“Like how?”
“Like by showing her how much we love her.”
“So she’s better now?” Alice asked, leaning back to rest her head against Beca’s chest. “She won’t be sad anymore?”
Beca sighed and tucked a strand of Alice’s hair behind her ear. “It’s not that simple. Just because she’s feeling better today, doesn’t mean she’ll be better tomorrow. But just because she was sad yesterday, doesn’t mean she’ll be sad forever.” Beca placed another kiss on her head. “But it isn’t your job to worry about that, okay?”
Chloe, who had been hovering by the door for the last couple of minutes, made her way into the kitchen.
“I hope I’m not missing out on a hug?”
Alice giggled and scooted off Beca’s knee and wrapped her arms around Chloe’s legs.
Chloe picked her up and sat her on her hip, squeezing her tight.
Her eyes met Beca’s, and the brunette knew she must have heard everything.
“Come on, let's finish watching Elf. It’s almost bedtime,” Chloe said, carrying Alice through to the living room.
They watched the remainder of the movie with Alice cuddled into Chloe’s side and Chloe’s head on Beca’s shoulder.
“What did you guys get up to today?” Chloe asked.
“Got all the vegetables and potatoes prepped for tomorrow,” Beca said. “And Alice and I made some cookies for Santa, while Olivia kept trying to eat them.”
Alice giggled softly. “Don’t forget we need to put them out.”
“We won’t forget,” Chloe said.
“How was work?” Beca asked.
“Yeah, fine,” Chloe said. She always tried to avoid talking about the details of her job around Alice in case it upset her. “Busy.”
The end credits started rolling, and Beca hit stop and turned off the TV.
“Bedtime,” Beca said. She stood up and held out her hands so she could pull Alice up off the sofa.
“I’m not tired,” Alice said, pouting.
“Well I am,” Beca said. “And so is Mama. And if we stay up much later, we’ll fall asleep on the sofa and then who’s gonna put out the cookies and tuck you in?”
“Okay,” Alice said with a sigh, finally allowing her Mom to pull her up.
They went into the kitchen together and loaded up a plate with some cookies.
“Do you think Santa wants milk or does he maybe want some brandy? Or a wine?” Beca asked.
“Mommy, he can’t drink, he has to drive the sleigh!” Alice said, sounding shocked.
Chloe had to stifle a laugh.
“Yeah, you’re right,” Beca said, pouring a glass of milk and setting it beside the cookies. “How’d you get so smart?”
Chloe and Beca took her up to bed, tucked her in, and each kissed her on the head.
“What time can I get up tomorrow?” Alice asked.
Chloe and Beca looked at each other.
“Six,” Chloe said.
“Seven,” Beca said at the same time.
Alice giggled.
“Six thirty,” Chloe said. “Now go to sleep.”
Beca and Chloe returned to the kitchen and Chloe poured them each a glass of wine.
“Can you drink that?” Beca asked, nodding towards the milk as she picked up a cookie and wrinkled her nose.
“Uh huh,” Chloe said, rolling her eyes fondly. “I don’t know why you poured such a big glass.”
“Santa gets thirsty,” Beca said with a shrug, her mouth full of cookie.
“Dork,” Chloe said, laughing as she finished off the milk and ate the other cookie. “I’m so tired.”
“I have some bad news,” Beca said. “I didn’t get any wrapping done this week. We need to wrap the girls’ stuff.”
Chloe groaned. “I suppose I can’t be too mad about that.”
Chloe retrieved the wrapping paper while Beca grabbed the gifts they’d gotten for the girls.
“What time are your parents getting here tomorrow?”
“Like, 1 pm I think,” Chloe said as they sat on the floor, piles of gifts beside them ready to be wrapped. ”My Mom wanted to come help out in the kitchen, but I persuaded her not to.”
Beca raised an eyebrow and took a sip of her wine. “Don’t want a repeat of thanksgiving?”
“You mean the time my wife and Mom argued for twenty minutes about the right way to make gravy?” Chloe said, smirking.
“No I meant the time your Mom was wrong for twenty minutes about the right way to make gravy.”
Chloe laughed and took another drink before lining up some paper on a gift. “Hold this.”
Beca held the edges of the gift wrap together so Chloe could tape them.
“Oh, did your Mom get back to you about coming?” Chloe asked, folding up the edges and taping them down.
“Uh, yeah, she text me this morning. She isn’t going to make it.”
“I’m sorry Bec,” Chloe said, looking up from the gift she was wrapping.
Beca shrugged. “It’s fine. I didn’t think she’d come.”
Chloe wrapped an arm around Beca’s shoulder and squeezed.
“You’re allowed to be upset about it,” Chloe said. “I know you miss her.”
“It’s fine,” Beca said, clearing her throat. “I have the girls. I have you. I have everyone I need.”
“I love you,” Chloe said. “But I really wish you hadn’t waited until Christmas Eve to wrap these.”
Beca laughed, and shoved Chloe away from her.
“Listen, it’s hard enough getting them both dressed and fed, I don’t know when I was meant to find time to wrap presents,” Beca said.
“It’s good to know you still need me,” Chloe said.
It sounded like a throw-away comment, but Beca knew better.
“You’re damn right I still need you,” Beca said. “I managed to keep our kids alive for a week, but if I knew I had to do it everyday without you? I don’t think I’d be able to get out of bed.”
“Bec,” Chloe said, softly.
“You’re the beating heart of this family, Chloe. You’re… you’re like the safe-zone in a game of tag.”
Chloe let out a laugh and wiped away her tears. She took Beca’s hands and pulled her closer.
“We need you. We love you,” Beca said.
“I know,” Chloe said, sniffing. “I love you too.”
“No matter what your head’s telling you, this family doesn’t work without you,” Beca said, pressing her lips to Chloe’s forehead.
Chloe nodded and wiped her eyes.
“Now we have to finish wrapping these before Santa comes.”
It was close to midnight when the presents were finally wrapped and placed beneath the tree, and Chloe let Beca take her hand and tug her up the stairs to bed.
“Next year maybe Santa should get them gift cards or something,” Beca said. “Much easier to wrap.”
“Or maybe next year we finish our wrapping earlier.”
“Yeah, that could work too,” Beca said.
They crawled into bed and Chloe snuggled up to her wife immediately, smiling when she felt Beca’s hands begin trailing through her hair.
“Bec, I wanted to ask you something,” Chloe said.
“Sure, I’ll marry you,” Beca mumbled back, causing a tired laugh from Chloe.
“Shut up, I’m being serious.”
“Sorry,” Beca said, stifling a yawn and rubbing her eyes. “I’m listening.”
“How would you feel if I quit my job? Became a stay-at-home Mom? At least until Olivia’s a little older.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” Chloe said. “I’ve looked at our finances, and we actually wouldn’t be losing out on that much money, since we wouldn’t have to pay for childcare anymore. And it would mean I’d get to spend more time with the girls, and I wouldn’t be getting home late and missing out on bath time and stuff.”
“Chlo’ if that’s what you want to do, then you can 100% do that. I want you to be happy, and if this will help then I’m completely on board. I know work’s been hard for you lately.”
“Yeah, it has been. Thank you, Bec. Thank you for being so understanding,” Chloe said, snuggling in closer, feeling like a weight had been lifted off her chest.
They heard the neighbourhood church bell begin to softly ring.
“Hey, Merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas, Beca.”

Hey guys! While everyone is quarantined, you may be looking for some good Bechloe fics to get you through. I am not in quarantine and still working full time but I will try my best to get some new content out this week. But for now here are some I have already up:
Days of Plenty (in-progress):
When Daniel and Sheila Mitchell die in an accident Beca and Chloe are thrown into parenthood, raising Beca's half-sister. (Established Bechloe)
I Will Spend My Whole Life Loving You (periodic updates):
A collection of domestic Bechloe (and family) one shots.
When You Learn to Sing (on hiatus):
A prequel to I Will Spend My Whole Life Loving You. This focuses on Hanna and how she and Beca mended their relationship. It's not necessary to read IWSMWLLY to read this:
Hanna Mitchell starts attending Barden University where she is reunited with her sister after years apart. Add in some meddling Bellas and some sexual confusion and we have a party.
