Over the last several weeks we have spiked large swaths of trees in the so-called “Capitol State Forest” in rural so-called “Thurston County, Washington” (ancestral Nisqually, Squaxin, and Chehalis land), leading up to the November 5th day of action in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en struggle against Coastal Gas Link and the Canadian government’s colonial intrusion into their territory.
This seasonal transition has been sharp and hard on the land. Our forests here experienced an unusually sudden shift from severe heatwaves and drought that lasted late into the fall, to floods and freezes with minimal autumnal gentle rains to steward the earth into the rainy season. These forests which have fed so many for time immemorial show the consequences. As climate change-fueled “natural” disasters become more and more devastating every year, the industrial rate of destruction of everything that sustains the land and the people on it only escalates. Politicians speak out of one side of their mouths about “truth and reconciliation” or “climate action,” while with the other side of their mouths they send the police to clear the way for mining and logging companies. Swaths of land dripping in moss and bubbling with streams, teeming with mushrooms and other life will soon be left as dry mangled fields, mirrors of the hellscapes being created in unceded Wet’suwet’en territory. Lifeless, and robbed of all sustenance and culture, useless to anyone but the corporations and people who sold off a forest they had no connection to.
All of these industries are on the side of Coastal Gas Link and they are all our enemies. We feel the rage, creativity, and determination of the people of Wet’suwet’en and Wedzin Kwa, and must all act against every aspect of colonial industry which threatens the sovereignty and lifeblood of lands and waters. We hope this message serves as a warning to deter all upcoming timber sales in the Capitol Forest. If the trees are cut, we hope for maximum damage to the chainsaws and mills.
Up in Wet’suwet’en territory, CGL just blew up Lamprey Creek, an active salmon and eel spawning ground, and home to two elders’ cabins on the Wedzin Kwah river. These waters and forests are lifeblood being stolen and desecrated. Drilling under the crystal clear Wedzin Kwah is active, while salmon actively spawn nearby. Wet’suwet’en protectors have specifically called on anarchists to step up. This comes with huge risk for the Wet’suwet’en. Let that call be heard and felt by our friends and our enemies.
DECOLONIZE THE PLANET GO LOG IN HELL WORLDWIDE SOLIDARITY WITH WET’SUWET’EN CGL FUCK OFF ALSO STOP COP CITY – DEFEND THE ATLANTA FOREST SHUTDOWNEVERYTHING

A group of environmental activists have filed a lawsuit in the Russian Supreme Court demanding the revision of a presidential order and a government decree concerning the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the country. The filing marks the first climate change-related lawsuit against the Russian government.
The plaintiffs are demanding the invalidation of a provision in the presidential order that sets Russia's greenhouse gas emissions target for 2030 at 70 percent of 1990 levels. Activists believe the 2030 target should be no higher than 31 percent of their levels in 1990.
In addition, the environmentalists are asking the court to rescind a decree from the Russian government that requires Russia to lower greenhouse gas emissions to 80 percent of their 1990 levels by 2050. The activists want the 2050 target to be set at 5 percent of 1990 levels.
The proposed new targets were calculated using a model created by the Climate Action Tracker, an independent project created by climate scientists. According to the activists, the new targets are the ones Russia must reach in order to fulfill its obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement.
The lawsuit names 20 plaintiffs, 18 of whom are individuals involved in the Fridays for Future movement founded by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, including well-known Russian climate activist Arshak Makichyan. The other two plaintiffs are the organizations Ecodefense! and the Moscow Helsinki Group.
The suit lays out how climate change affects Russia directly. “While the global climate has experienced about one degree [Celsius] of warming over the last 50 years, Russia has experienced 2.5 degrees. In the future, this proportion will either continue or become even more extreme,” write the activists.
Climate change poses a threat to human health and human life, causes internal migration, and threatens food security and infrastructure.
The plaintiffs also note that Russia is a world leader in greenhouse gas emissions. They describe the country’s investment in the fight against climate change so far as “extremely insufficient.”
The lawsuit is based on a report from Mark Chernaik, a scientist at the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide. Chernaik prepared the report at the request of lawyers Daryana Gryaznova, Grigory Vaipan, and Alexandra Suchkova.
According to the report, a heat wave that struck Russia in 2010 was responsible for over 50,000 premature deaths. In addition, it says, climate change has caused forest fires and forest loss as pests have moved north due to rising temperatures. A third consequence is the melting of permafrost, which threatens the sustainability of buildings and infrastructure, and can also cause disease outbreaks (like the 2016 anthrax outbreak in western Siberia).

Understood that there’s no mandatory anarchist reading. Do you got any cool recommendations for anti-civ and green anarchy tho? I read Blessed is the Flame already and am interested in more
perhaps the coolest might maybe by chance be the ecodefense guide to monkeywrenching. focused on ways to attack and move toward the sort of future we seek.
im always recommending low-tech magazine, especially the solar powered version of the website (if you really want to go hardcore with it, you can also order the printed website). not really explicitely anti-civ, insurrectionary, or even radical (i seem to recall some rather reformist lib vibes at some point, but idr, so don't quote me), but focused on what a future/prefigurative society could look like, which i think makes it appealing for appealing to those not aligned with anticiv etc.
perhaps less specifically anti-civ and more broadly "post-left" is this article from do or die, which was a magazine you may find interesting as it was 'the voice of the british earth first movement', however ive only ever read this article tbh 😔😓😭
here are all 10 issues of do or die. i wouldn't necessarily recommend just reading thru them in order, but rather look at the various article titles and just follow whatever catches your interest
crimethinc has a lot of different voices going on, and they've changed over time, but overall they generally vibe pretty well with anticiv and green anarchy. to mix it up a bit and give your brain a bit of a rest, i'll recommend specifically pickaxe, but again just go browse what they have and follow your heart
i'd also like to give a shout out to zines and the punk scene. go to some shows if you're able, connect with people, hopefully someone is tabling, or maybe there are still some infoshops around and they got a show there, find a book or zine to read between or even during bands (great for if you're the type who is afraid to go to shows alone too btw)
could probably go on forever but hopefully that's some good leads for ya. enjoy.
