If Machete and Vasco were insects, Machete would definitely be a white plume moth (Pterophorus pentadactylus) but what would Vasco be?
I've never seen a living thing that looked this much like a windblown tuft of asbestos fibres.
For Vasco, I think I'm going to go with african peach moth (Egybolis vaillantina) that someone suggested earlier.

African Peach Moth (Egybolis vaillantina)
...a species of Owlet Moth (Noctuidae) that occurs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Adult E. vaillantina possess a wingspan of around 60 mm and are active during the day. True to their common name E. vaillantina larvae feed mainly on peach and Sapindus species.
