"Fenris? Is that you over there?" Elaina had just heard the Braixen as she happened to pass by, carrying a parasol for the rain. She took a closer look and recognized him immediately. "Hey! Been a while, how have you been doing? Uh ... can I come in?"

"o-oh! Elaina! Yeah, sure! Come in!" He steps aside and gestured her to enter

"and that goes for all of you who are waiting outside in the rain, too. I'm man of the house tonight! ... And probably for the next week or so"

the front door lead straight into the living room, a heater was on and a TV was blaring. The sofa seemed recently used.

On the far end of the living room, there was another door from which sizzling can be heard and a pleasant smell wafted from.

"make yourselves comfortable! As I am yknow... the man of the house I need you all to be as comfortable as you can. Also DON'T MESS ANYTHING UP! I will kick your ass out of this house if you even dare to freaking scratch something!"

Ask Call!

Come one, come all to Equinox's first ask call of the year! for pokeblogs in need of some interactions and/or asks!

As per usual,  Reblog / Reply to this post if you want an ask from any of my characters. Also, please specify which muse of yours you would want an ask for. 

You got that? Alright, now for the list of characters you can choose from:

Cipher (Meowstic) - Being a very curious and inquisitive pokemon, he tends to ask questions about almost everything. He is also enthusiastic to ask rescue teams and guild related questions.

Elaina (Braixen) - She tends to ask more intellectual questions. She is also into asking questions about “aesthetic interests (such as music interests, art interests, etc.) and questions that involve relaxation and calmness.

Xern (Masked Lucario) - He only asks questions pertaining to anything mysterious or otherworldly (such as strange events , phenomenon , etc.). Being a mysterious pokemon himself, he usually has no moral boundary when it comes to communicating with others. He can also be overtly curious.

Vargas (Shiny Braixen) - He is quite naive but very much wants to know the environment around him. He would most like ask about someone's motivations and what inspires them the most but generally, he would ask questions based on his naive assumptions about someone.

As an added bonus to those who aren’t in need of asks but wanna help, you can also suggest in the replies a blog that you think needs some asks.

Finn skidded to a halt and paused only long enough to get a couple lungfuls of air. Neither he or Keahi could speak human languages, but he trusted that this Braixen could. The freshly-evolved Boltund looked pointedly from the Braixen to the Human a few times and them launched into a hurried explanation.

"My sister- she got bit by this Pokemon and I think they're a poison type. She needs an antidote or something! Just please, PLEASE help her."

After a couple of moments to relay the information to the Human, both of them nodded seriously.

"We can lead you to her, come on!" Finn said in a breathless relief.

All four of them began to run back the way Finn and Keahi had come from. So focused was their quest, none of them noticed the shape of a Pokemon laying low in the grass. Yarrow waited until they had all passed before sitting up. Regret and guilt swirled in his deep, violet eyes and the venomous Vaporeon slowly tore his gaze away from them and focused on the Pokemon Center instead.

Elaina greets Shelly with a smile, waving to her. "Good day, miss! So nice to meet you. Nick must be lucky to have a mom such a yourself ... he already has made friends with Cipher." She made a light chuckle at that remark and continued to speak. "Say, are you a gardener by any chance? or just grow some plants? I was wondering if you would know some native Galar berries that be perfect to grow at a backyard."

(Shelly nods) It's nice to meet you as well. From that comment I suppose Cipher has told you much about Nick and I?

(Shelly) Anyways, I do dabble a little bit. Helps to keep the stock afloat. But really, there aren't actually any berries around here exclusive to our grounds, i mean, we have Roseli berries, but you could find those in Kalos as well. In fact, I think that's where they come from?

(Shelly's eyes point off into a direction as she attempts to recall something) Although if you're looking for something exclusive though...i hear there's someplace where you can find Max Mushrooms? Whip them into a curry and certain pokemon will be able to temporarily evolve into more powerful forms when and if they dynamax. I haven't found any myself, nor bothered to since nobody here is affected by them, but if you know where to find them, and know anyone on the list of known pokemon who can gigantamax, I would recommend finding some and whipping them up as a treat.

Chapter Zero : Elaina

~Part 1~

"It's those fever dreams again … "

I walked among the darkness with my feet falling on cold still water, making small concentric circles with each step. I tried desperately to wake myself up … to escape this recurring dream. 

No matter what I try to do I just can't be fully awake, like something is anchoring me into it. Feeling helpless, I tried walking further ... just to see what happens. 

As I pressed on, I could faintly hear the wet, sloshes of the ground below. For some reason, my feet didn't feel wet only … cold to the touch. 

I tried running, the wet splashes becoming louder as I did. I ran into the nothingness, freezing in my tracks when something in the distance caught my eye - a fire.

I continued running, ignoring the cold touch of the water below on my feet as I desperately reached the flame. Is this real? An illusion maybe? I did not care … 

To my delight I seemed to be feeling warmth as I cautiously approached the flame. The warmth was more than enough to ignore the cold feeling of my feet on the ground. 

I sat down and pondered for a while as the warm feeling of the flame soothed my unease for a little bit. I reached my paw towards the spark just to see if it was indeed real, but just before I could touch it, I heard a soft melody. 

The mysterious sound whispered into my ears, unknown but haunting and calm. It rang like the high notes of a flute, eerily circling my ears like a predator toward its prey.

The melody gradually grew louder … until I could hear it screeching in my ears … I immediately covered them as I just sat there, silently begging it to stop …

I woke up drenched in cold sweat as I gasped out a breath and sat upright from my bed. I shot a glance at the sky from outside of my window. The sun had already risen. Wiping the sweat on my face with my paw, I lay down on the bed. 

Stupid dreams … When will it ever stop? … 

I glanced at my digital alarm clock to check the time. 5:45 … I should probably be doing my morning routine by now … Feeling groggy and restless, I decided to get up from my bed. I have classes to attend to after all.

Jubilife City has that calming atmosphere whenever I go outside in the morning. There's not much bustling going on and the chilly morning breeze is soothing, exactly the calm before the city's bustling storm at the peak hours of daylight. 

I got an alert on my phone shortly after I walked a few steps away from my apartment. It was Spica, saying she will be commuting with her boyfriend on the way to Sinnoh High. I immediately texted her back saying that I'll just be seeing her there and put my phone away to continue walking towards the train station. 

"Morning, Elaina!" A voice called out from nearby, making my ears perk up as I turned to whoever made that sound. 

"Morning, Ms. Gallius~!" I greeted her back. She was tending to her garden with Vertri, her Trevenant caretaker. He didn't talk much but he did acknowledge my presence as he eyed me and gave me a nod. 

"How's your garden coming along, dearie?" The Lilligant asked, giving me a warm smile as she stopped what she was doing for a moment. 

"It's going swell so far, although the seeds have yet to get fully sprouted. The Oran berry tree though … it's growing steadily and has started to bear fruit." 

"Now that's good to hear! You should be going somewhere, yes? Have a good day. Good luck in your garden." Ms. Gallius called out encouragingly.

"Thanks, Miss. I wish you the same." I gave her a wave as I made my way towards the train station. I still have plenty of time before my first class starts so I have nothing to worry about.

The walk towards the station took me a few minutes, there were quite a few passengers at the moment seeing as it was the early commute hours. I hopped on the train and waited a while before it departed, the usual train music giving me some relaxation as I traveled alone with my thoughts. As the train finally departed, I closed my eyes and let the music soothe me all throughout the way. 

A few minutes into the trip, I noticed the melody change. Instead of the usual tune, I swore I can hear a flute playing ominously in my mind.

What? Something's not right … 

I immediately opened my eyes to the usual bustling tune of the train. Strange … I thought to myself. I just shrugged it off as my imagination, as I went back to closing my eyes. 

To my surprise, I heard the ominous flute melody again. It was as if it was waiting for me to close my eyes again to continue playing its tune. 

Am I going crazy? Please … this better not be a trick. 

I can feel the melody slowly getting louder, as if it was beckoning me to hear it. I had realized just now that this was the same melody I heard in my fever dream this morning.

Please stop … What do you want from me? Please … just leave me alone ...

I tried not to scream out my frustration as I didn't want to cause a commotion and it would be deathly embarrassing for me to scream out like that in public. 

The train doors dinged, signalling that it had arrived at the station, that immediately stopped the flute melody that was messing with my head. I opened my eyes and shook my head a bit, relieved that the sound was over as I got up and walked to the train's exit.

I entered the school campus feeling a little disoriented, taking steady steps forward though I couldn't really focus on where I was walking. The well lit hallways of the classroom seemed a bit blurry in my vision despite the setting. 

First class starts in 20 minutes … Why am I feeling so groggy at a time like this? Just focus, Ellie … As long as you arrive early it'll be fine ...

Not long into my disoriented walk, I felt a soft thud on my shoulder as I saw a few books fall to the floor. Noticing the commotion I caused, I slowly came to my senses and finally realized what had happened. 

"Oh my goodness … I'm so so sorry!" I say as I picked up the few books that were on the floor, frantically making sure I got a tight grip on them. Just as I looked up, I came face to face with a Lucario , only her eyes were more focused on me than on her books. 

"It's alright … no hard feelings really." She gave me a smile while focusing on my eyes. I noticed her wearing a purple dress under a long-sleeved teal vest, though I also sensed … something different from her. 

"Umm … still … I may have blocked your path and …" 

"Again, it's okay. You might as well just go to your first class. Thanks for picking them up though." The Lucario would immediately walk away to wherever she was going. I was left dumbfounded by the encounter, I checked my wrist watch to see that I have 10 minutes left before the class started.

I feel … something warm all of a sudden … clearly it wasn't her or … maybe it was her? … 

I just walked towards my first class as I can already feel the disorienting thoughts slowly disappear, yet I still questioned those weird happenings that had been going on today. A familiar face greets me as I enter the classroom. 

"Ah! Bonjour, étudiante~" It was Mr. Ptolemus, his fancy black and white butler's outfit made me think I was in a dinner party rather than in an actual classroom. 

"Bonjour, Monsieur~" I responded back, I was expecting Prof. Krantz to be teaching this class but since they were both good at teaching History, I suppose it's acceptable enough. 

"You are quite prompt to be arriving a few minutes early, mademoiselle." He asks, giving a nod of approval. I look around to see only very few students including myself are around. Nodding back, I felt the need to respond. 

"Merci, monsieur le Ptolemus~" I smiled at him to which he gave me a gesture of approval. To tell you the truth, I am actually fluent with French because I grew up in Kalos, which I guess made me one of the professor's most liked students. Moments after the conversation, I heard a familiar face enter the classroom. 

"It's ya boy! Coming in…" Fenris burst in through the classroom doors, only wearing his vest and backpack as he marched towards his assigned seat. His sudden screaming startled me, and he waved to me as he passed my seat.

"Elaina! Good to see you, fellow Brai … how are you doing?" 

"Feeling a bit drowsy honestly … but I'm managing." 

"Haven't had your morning coffee or something?" 

"I'm not a fan of coffee, Fenris. I much prefer tea … though I was running late so I skipped that earlier …" 

"Late? This is late to you? Damn … What kind of standards do you have?" 

"I'm just trying my best to come early every time. You should try it sometime …" I giggled and smirked at him as Mr. Ptolemus signalled the start of his class. 

"Yeah ... I should be going to my seat. I don't wanna get yelled at again …" He quickly paced towards his seat without a second thought. Funny thing is, he actually got reprimanded a week ago for 'speaking foul language' or something like that. 

As my first class started, I just did what I normally did, sit and listen. Honestly, not a really bad start to the day in my book as the drowsiness slowly drifted away from my senses.

I roamed the halls again as my first class ended. There was less than an hour until my next class, so I pondered whether I should go to the library or the garden to pass the time. Still, I wondered why the next class didn't start immediately after another but I didn't really mind. I just saw it as an opportunity to get a mental rest or something.

Noticing the lockers, I immediately recognized this was the same hallway where my lockers were. I have to admit it took me quite a while to notice.

Have I really travelled that long aimlessly? I swear I get pretty dazed very often … 

"Actually … I do have some stuff to get anyways …" I said to myself as I approached my locker as I intended to grab a few books though in the process, a few fire stones fell out onto the floor. Shortly after, I hear a yelp coming from behind the locker doors. 

As I closed the locker, I saw a Vulpix looking a bit frightened upon seeing the fire stones on the ground, as if she was afraid to touch them. I noticed that she was wearing a sky blue tank top and denim shorts  "P-Please! I-I … don't wanna evolve just yet!" She exclaimed, cautiously stepping away from the stones. 

"Sorry about that … I'll pick them up for you~" I told her, casting a look at her as I did so. She met my gaze and nodded, trying to keep myself calm. 

"I-It's okay … I was just worried for a bit …"

Shortly after she said that, I could feel two paws grabbing my shoulders from behind. Frightened, I nervously looked behind me. 

"Well well! What do we have here? If it isn't the FireFox!" 

It was a Blue Sylveon, a very familiar Sylveon to be exact. She was wearing a large shawl and a skirt, with a toothless grin to top it all off. Even as I turned around, she still hadn’t loosened her grip on me.

"Ohh it's you … Aren't you that Sylveon who's friends with Cipher? The one who carried him towards his apartment room when he passed out?" 

"Well I sure am! And you must be Coolcat's best bud~!" 

"Well you got me … can you please let me go now? It's getting a bit weird …" 

She immediately obliged and walked over towards the Vulpix as I said that, still having that grin plastered over her face. I have to admit, it was giving me a bit of a weird vibe seeing that, but I didn't really mind that much anyway. "Now since we're here … what are you two doing here?" 

"Ohh you know just … walking the halls until our class starts with my friend over here!." The Sylveon spoke up, pulling the Vulpix towards her.

"Y-yeah … we just happened to walk through the opposite building … which is here." The Vulpix also added, nervously maintaining eye contact with me. 

They both seemed pretty nice, though the Sylveon was a bit too dynamic while the Vulpix was rather shy, though I can understand that. Perhaps I should introduce myself to both of them. 

"Well anyways, my name's Elaina or … Ellie for short. Pleased to meet both of you, especially you again, Sylveon … " 

"Rime, please … call me Rime. Permission to call you Firefox instead?" 

"Sure I guess …" I nod in response as I turn towards the Vulpix. "What's your name by the way?" 

"Sapphire … or Saph … whichever is fine …" 

"Well, glad to be meeting both of you, Saph and Rime." 

I checked my wrist watch to see that my next class starts in 15 minutes. Pretty bad timing to meet some new friends but, I'm sure this won't be the last time I'm seeing them. 

"Ohh dear … my class is starting soon, I guess I'll see both of you around. I'm so sorry this has to be cut short …" 

"It's alright, Firefox! I'll just find Coolcat. I'm sure wherever he is, you aren't that far." Rime responded, as she gave me a wink.

"I-It's alright … wh-whatever she said …" Saph smiles and gives me a wave as the two of them walk away in the opposite direction.

Well, that was something but oh well … new friends are always fine.

With that, I immediately walked towards my next class.

Amber was kind of surprised to be asked to spar with a braixen like Elaina but she giggled and gave her new friend a confident smile. "Why, thanks for the compliment! The name’s Amber and I’ve been training since elementary to show my older brother that I don’t need to be protected anymore. I mean, the last time he did something for my sake... he got hospitalized after picking a fight with someone who was way out of his league. So yeah, when I become a braixen like you... I would be more than happy to be your sparing partner.”

Battle for the God Mom

"Elaina, you there? Just gotten a good scout of the area and let me tell you … it's really dark and cloudy … and it had just been daytime before I arrived."

Cipher had just been looking around the would-be battlefield just to get a closer look at where he should position himself while attacking the beast. The said beast let out an audible roar in the background and it was quite deafening even though he was just a relatively safe distance away.

"Yeah. I can barely hear you though with all of this rumbling and roaring going around … I'll join you later, don't worry."

"Right I almost forgot … you are part medic. How's the situation over there?"

"Well … it's also dark. Zephyr would've been very interested in getting a scoop of this strange weather alone. There's also a lot of other medics here, some offering prayers … but the injured seem to be recovering at a Magcargo's pace at the very least."

"Alright, I'll just catch you later. You know my coordinates, right?"

"Yes … be careful out there. We don't wanna lose a valuable member of V.E.G.A."

"Pfft, you too. Okay, I have to establish a position to attack now …" Cipher turned off his phone right after chuckling at the little quip she gave throughout the conversation. He took a deep breath and scanned the area as a lot of attacks and projectiles were being hurled in all directions, some barely grazing past him.

“It’s been quite a while since I’ve last used this move, time to put it into good use…” He concentrated for a bit, activating the eyes on his ears as he calmed himself down, his eyes were now slowly glowing blue as his aura was now starting to show. Soon enough, a concentration of his own aura would quickly form in his right paw and he took aim at the beast’s body, being the only way for him to damage it directly.

“Aura Sphere!”

With one fell swoop, he directed his attack towards the beast only hoping it would hit him in a way that mattered. But he wasn’t done, he still had plenty of energy where his aura was and he intended to use it to help whenever and however he can. He let out a barrage of Aura Spheres as well as some Energy Balls while he was at it. He would have opted for a Thunder Wave too but he felt that the foreboding beast was way too large to be able to be paralyzed by single ‘mon, much less one of his size.

After a while of attacking from a distance, he noticed a pillar of flame flew by him and immediately caught up on who did the attack. “Need help? I came as soon as I can …” The Braixen smiled just as she aimed another Flamethrower at the beast with her staff. “Wow … that thing is massive … It’s a good thing a lot of pokemon here are helping out whenever they can. Anyways, I should get into position myself … near you is probably the best option.”

“Let’s just give it our best shot. Well … catch ya later, we’ve got work to do.” With that Cipher was back towards unleashing a barrage of attacks with Elaina following close behind.

Elaina wanders around the streets of the Neon District, her staff illuminating most of her surroundings as she finds someone to ask for help. She spots the trio and cautiously approaches them. "Excuse me ... I think I might be lost in this town, can you show me an inn perhaps Ms. umm ... what are your names exactly?"

The two remark to each other on the situation as the Braixen approaches.

Shiny: “Another one? Is there some sort of party that we missed out on tonight?” Leaf: “I have no idea. Maybe we should like, scribble up a sign with directions on it? Whatever the case, let’s just keep helping out, better than letting em get lost or hurt.”

Both vulpixes turn towards the Braixen, with the Leaf gesturing towards the other vulpix.

Leaf: “Name’s Mars. Friend here’s Kara. If you turn back the way you came, walk 2 streets down, and take a right onto the second street, you should find a hotel that’s not too expensive. Worst case you could always sleep in an alleyway behind a building, its pretty safe here.” Kara: “Wow, and here I thought you would be the one weary of giving our names to strangers.”

Mars sighs, reaching into a small pouch on their back and pulling out a small amount of currency.

Mars: “It’s not like we’re going to be here much longer anyways, and besides, if they were gonna hurt us, not like they’ve been short on opportunities.” Mars: “Here, its not much but you should at least be able to buy yourself a drink from the hotel vending machines for the night.” Kara: “Good luck! Dont let the street lamps getcha~”

Mars and Kara’s names have been revealed, and their ref sheets unlocked.

Prologue 2 : A New Acquaintance

The cafeteria here is different , most cafeterias in Kalos would have more than one when there's too many students. Here in Jubilife though, it's a large room about the size of two and half classrooms. 

Pokemon were bustling about minding their own business, a very usual thing. It's not too noisy either, it's just my ideal type of atmosphere. 

I seemed to notice Lexida shying away while Cipher was scouting to find the rest of the group. I decided to give her some small talk. 

"So, Lex … how was Sinnoh High so far?" I asked, turning towards her.

Lexida managed a small smile as she took a deep icy breath. "It's been … pretty okay. People sure are nice here … both of you included." 

 "That's so sweet of you, Lex. Wait 'til you get to meet our other friends! I'm sure they'll be pretty happy to meet you." Cipher chimed in and squinted. "If only we can find them …"

Just as I was about to comment, I heard a bubbly voice call out to us from behind. "Ellie! Over here!" Spica exclaimed as I turned around, waving at us to get our attention. 

"Looks like I found her first, Cipher …" I giggled as I led the way. Lexida seemed to be a bit nervous as we walked towards them. 

In the table I can see Spica and the twins. Pollux gave me a friendly nod as he saw us approaching. Castor, on the other hand, gave his usual toothy grin as he leaped from his seat towards us. 

"Hey you two! Been a while~" Castor greeted us in his usual charismatic energy. The Dusk Lycanroc was wearing his ochre colored Solrock shirt and yellow pants. He had his sunrise colored jacket hanging from his shoulder. 

"Hey there dude! Long time no see." Cipher exclaimed as he and Castor bumped their fists together. 

"Hello, Castor … yeah it has been a while. How was summer?" I gave him a wave. "I'm guessing you had fun." 

"Ohh it was! Both a tragedy and a comedy for good ol' me." Castor nodded to himself in agreement. "Theme parks and such are fun and all … but it could've been more if I had a sweetheart right now." He faked a broken hearted gesture as he said that.

"Seems like you and our dear fox have yet to have one, right Ellie?" Spica chimed in. I hate to admit it but it did make me slightly flustered now that I think about it. 

"Now putting that aside." He pointed towards Lexida who was just quietly staring, dumbfounded about all of this. "Who's the new kid?" 

I noticed Lexida shyly look away. She doesn't seem to like being the center of interest but I'll just try to keep her moxie up. 

"Ohh right … guys meet Lexida. A freshman who just moved here from Snowpoint City. Please go easy on her, she's a bit of a shy type." 

Lexida nodded in agreement. "Yes, Elaina is right but … it's really nice getting to meet all of you. I hope we can … get along quite well." 

"Well it sure is quite nice meeting you too, Lex!" Castor offered a hand towards her to which Lexida reluctantly shook. "Name's Castor and this over here is my twin bro." He nodded and pulled Pollux towards him, who gave her a nervous wave. They both felt awkward at Castor's split second introduction but they didn't seem to mind it much.

"Hello there, Lex. Seems Elaina just made another friend … pretty new for her." Spica smiled at her and giggled. "Anyways name's Spica, Ellie's best buddy!  actually no … Cipher and Castor too of course. But you are always welcome to be one too." 

"Now what are we waiting for? Lunch ain't going to fix itself. Let's get going!" Castor immediately jumped up from his seat. "Yes … I think we should have some lunch." Pollux followed soon after him. 

"Yes I think we should all grab some lunch. Again, you are welcome to join us Lex. I can show you around the cafeteria if you want." Cipher looked towards Lexida and managed a small smile. "Sure … please lead the way." 

As she faced me she mouthed the words Thank You to me. Not going to lie, it warmed my heart a bit seeing her happy.

Classes abruptly ended as the bell rang. I eventually met up with the rest of my friends as I walked outside of my classroom. After about a few minutes of talking, we decided to call it a day. 

We went our separate ways for today as Cipher walked with me. He lived in the same apartment as me but in a different building. 

"So … your newfound friend earlier, I'd say she's good company. It would be fun to hang around with her more often, she seems cool." Cipher said as we walked. 

"Honestly, I'd think the same. It's a good thing I sort of got lost otherwise that didn't happen." I responded. "Now that you think about it, if it weren't for that, heck … I wouldn't have talked to her and introduced myself." 

"Yeah, life's funny like that sometimes." Immediately as he said that, I heard a ring coming from his jacket pocket. Cipher quickly answered it and I decided to turn somewhere else, in the distance I can see someone running towards me.

"Elaina! Thank Articuno I managed to catch up …" It was Lex, she seemed to be a little out of breath probably from all of that running. Cipher, having noticed her while on the phone waved at her to acknowledge her presence. 

"Woah, Lex … take it easy. Why were you looking for us?" I say as I lowered my head towards her. 

"I wanted to give both of you these …" She fumbled for her knapsack and fished out two snow globes. Inside was an Articuno roosting as silver snowflakes were falling on them. 

"Aww, you shouldn't have … thanks, Lex." I say as I received the two items from her. Cipher, conveniently having finished his conversation with someone has his ears perked up as he saw the snow globe. "Cool! This is a great addition to my room! Thanks a lot, Lex." 

"You're welcome … it's a souvenir from Snowpoint of our deity, Vroska." She then looked towards the distance at something. "I should be going … my ride's almost here. Again, I am so glad to meet you and your friends. It means a lot." She waved goodbye to us as she hurried towards the direction where she was looking. 

I nodded to myself as I saw her walk away. It's been awhile since I've made another friend so naturally, it was overwhelming to me. I turned towards Cipher , who was fidgeting with his new souvenir with awe. 

"Say, who called you if you don't mind me asking?" I asked with a smirk. 

"Ohh it's just Suthen. He's asking for help with some homework and I may or may not be heading to his dorm room." Cipher answered in a tone that seemed like he was hiding something. 

I nudged an elbow into his arm. "Come on now, no need to be so nervous, I already know. No use hiding it from me." 

"Anyways, I should be going … wouldn't want to keep him waiting." He carefully slid the snow globe into his bag. "Guess I'll see you around! or tomorrow." 

"Goodbye and hope you enjoy your time with Suthen." I say teasingly. 

Cipher had a slight hint of red in his cheeks as I mentioned that. He waved at me and quickly turned around.

After a few minutes of walking and climbing, I finally arrived at my apartment. I breathed a sigh of relief as I sat on the couch. 

"This has been quite a day … Hmm, I should paint something … But before that, a  warm bath."

With that, I proceeded towards my evening routine.

The alleyways from between the various apartments in Jubilife are the first to go dark as the sun slowly sets on the horizon. Most of the time, it's empty save for a few runaways who take refuge from any street conflict. 

A Lucario is seen walking through one of them, she seemed to be deep in thought. Hovering beside her is an Azelf, with a look of concern. The Lucario was wearing a sleeveless midnight blue dress under a lavender shawl, it's colors blending with the alleyway's dark corners. 

"Will we ever find other Protectors, Lucia? I can already feel despair gradually taking me … " The Azelf whimpered as she focused her gaze towards the Lucario, her blue eyes forming a somber expression. 

"Please hang in there, Mai … the Emphyrean hasn't given up on us yet. We'll find them soon, don't worry. Your sisters did put their faith in you didn't they?" The Lucario responded. She looked at her silvery metal armband, revealing a Lucarionite stone, it's crystalline luster gleaming despite the dimness of where they were standing. 

"My beloved sisters … Who knows where they might be? I hope they're safe  … I fear the lurking darkness will catch them at their weakest …" The Azelf whimpered, curling up as she sat on Lucia's shoulders, her eyes on the verge of tears.

Lucia stopped for a moment to pat her on the back for comfort. She too was concerned for her, as she was concerned herself with how to find other Protectors. She looked up to the starry night sky and whispered to herself. 

"Please … if you're still out there … shine your light on us … We are the last hope of this world … Guide us … as you did to the ones before us …" 

Lucia didn't notice as tears started to flow from both of her blue eyes, as she held both of her hands toward her heart. Mai, having noticed her, wiped a tear from one side of her face.

"L-Lucia … ?" She looked towards her, one hand holding her chin. Her expression was a somber gaze toward Lucia's misty eyes. 

"I-I'm alright just … missing someone …" She forced a small smile as she wiped the remaining tear from her face and locked eyes with Mai. "We should keep going … time is almost waning for us …" The Azelf nodded as she too made a slight smile. 

Not a moment later, a scream was heard nearby alerting the two as they turned towards what they assumed was the source of the sound. Lucia immediately ran with Mai in tow as she exited the alleyway.

"Get away! I'm warning you…" A Cubone is seen cornered into a wall holding out his bone club as protection. Three shadowy figures are in pursuit, clawing the bystander as the Cubone barely manages to parry their relentless attacks. 

Lucario had just exited the alleyway as she sensed an unnaturally disturbing presence from nearby. She scanned the area as she narrowed her eyes, trying to find where the screams came from. She finally noticed the three figures and the cowering bystander and without hesitation, rushed toward them in hot pursuit. 

"Shadows! Fragments of darkness…" Mai called out to the figures, alerting them to the pair's presence. Immediately, they rushed toward Lucia without a second thought as if not acknowledging the Cubone was even there. 

"..." Lucia's eyes glared towards the approaching danger, clutching the stone she was wearing. The gleam of the stone was brighter, almost being a miniature beacon whilst in the middle of the illuminated part of the city. 

"Spirit of Willpower … AWAKEN!" 

Mai knew exactly what to do as Lucia closed her eyes and called out, the figures now upon them as the Cubone watched in shock and awe. As for Lucia, she can feel something coursing through her from the inside as her form glowed as bright as the crystalline stone. 

Lucia felt her reflexes strengthen and strength increase, as her form gradually underwent Mega Evolution. What felt like a slow metamorphosis to her seemed like a split transformation from an outside observer. 

The dress and shawl she was wearing underwent a drastic change as with Lucia mega evolving. The shawl was still lavender, but it was now outlined with a silvery metal with an insignia in the middle. The insignia of the Emphyrean, a silhouette of the head of an Arceus positioned as if they were looking towards the sky they created. 

Lucia's midnight blue dress now turned into a shade of indigo as silver gloves materialized into her paws. On her head, a headdress almost materialized with the same insignia as her shawl. 

As the ghosts approached her, she readied an attack. "Stellar Vacuum Wave …" She shouted as the ghosts instantly disintegrated into bits of black stardust that was swiftly swept away by a night breeze. 

"There's always these monstrosities laying around …" Lucia muttered dusting herself off as she slowly transformed back to her previous self. The Cubone, who was watching the whole ordeal, immediately approached her in awe. 

"What did y-you … H-how did y-you … do that … ? I must know." He murmured, clearly awestruck at her. 

"That was nothing, just the power of starlight …" Lucia responded, smiling. "... and willpower~!" Mai, who was still sitting on Lucia's shoulder, added. 

"W-well whatever that was … thank you! A-are you a magician of some sort?" He tilted his head in confusion, scanning her. 

"Just someone doing their job … Speaking of which, I should be going elsewhere. You stay safe and be careful this time around." She shrugs, immediately turning to the opposite direction.

"Thanks, miss." He waved at her and walked off elsewhere.

After sometime, Lucia finally arrived at her apartment and Mai immediately opened the door. The Lucario collapsed on her couch and sighed.

"Today was such a rough day … I'm so tired … " She reclined at her seat with her hands behind her head. "Feeling okay over there, Mai?" She asked without looking at her. 

"I'm a bit tired too … from that battle mostly … You did wonderful though, just like you always do." Mai jumped to the top of the couch's headrest and leaned over to Lucia, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Come on now … it took me quite a while to get used to the fighting. That was all with you guiding me along the way." She let out a yawn and stood up. "I should probably rest, I still have school tomorrow." 

"H-hey Lucia … will we ever find other Protectors? and my sisters … ?" Mai asked, the solemn expression formed on her face again as before. 

"In time, hopefully we'll have answers to both of them. For now, let's not let ourselves be worried … You still got me to help after all." Lucia gave her a wink and an okay sign. 

"I guess so … Goodnight, Lucia." 

"Goodnight, Mai."
