This has absolutely nothing to do with this scene but is at least tangentially related to the Thriller Bark arc so I'm gonna share it anyway. The word galvanize is an eponym derived from Luigi Galvani, who was a scientist and physician in the 18th century who helped pioneer the field of bioelectricity when he discovered that he could make dead frog legs move when ran through with an electric current, with later proponents of his work going so far as to shock human corpses attempting to bring them to life. This breakthrough would in part inspire the creation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, which, some two hundred or so years later would in part inspire Thriller Bark.

So in a way I guess you could say Hogback has galvanized these corpses, albeit with shadows instead of electricity, forcing them to move without recreating true life.

N.B. Power is asking the province's Energy and Utilities Board to approve 9.8 per cent rate increases for residential customers in each of the next two years. The Crown corporation says it needs the hefty hikes now, to set the stage for chipping away at its massive debt before a provincially required target in 2029. "The requested increases are necessary to allow N.B. Power to fulfil its core responsibility, and to make modest improvements in its financial health," says the application. "N.B. Power is concerned about affordability for our customers as they face a variety of inflationary pressures and recognizes that many customers will be challenged by this proposed increase."

one thing I have learned about being poor is that you cannot for a moment stop thinking about it

#theres no peace #every little thing reminds me we are poor #seeing friends having electricity wifi heat food gas. it all costs money. and bills and fees and charges happen all the damn time #im constantly worried that i am measing up somehow or im not keeping track of my finances properly #the person handling our disability assistance application keeps coming back with question after question about my job #and i have so much doubt and fear that ive made some mistake in my answers that will disqualify us from support #and theres this sick backwards stupid thing where applying for and being on disability support is discouraging me from trying to make money #because the more i make the less likely we'll get support but i need to make money to live #its just fucked. and once we're on support i have to make monthly reports of my income so ill feel like im explaining myself all the fuckin #time #cus the system isnt built in a way that makes sense for self employed ppl who have business expenses to account for #sorry for the ranting i cant sleep #truly truly i think poverty is making me a worse persin #more anxious more resentful more jealous more miserable more spiteful #i have so little and there is so little i can do to help it #i want things in a more desparate and even childish way than i used to eant things #spend a lot more time fantasizing about magically having expendable income #not to mention the constant exponential guilt that comes from asking for help or recieving help. its guilt i need to unlearn but i feel it

.....fuck, it's been two weeks since I've read anything so ominous, it was like getting dumped with cold water all over again.

More and more I'm glad they settled everything for him and finished everything before even telling anyone. The fewer shocks to the system the better.

EDIT: Basically in Tokyo at one of the larger live venues in early December you can purchase a small ticket for a timeslot to show up and it sounds like leave a memorial of some sort and also pick up a photo memento they will prepare, I assume something will also be playing in the background, who knows. The announcement doesn't have a lot of details. Since they are breaking this down into multiple timeslots broken up over two days, this doesn't seem to be something you are meant to especially linger at, but just have your moment and then depart most likely.

I hope they do this not just in Tokyo, it's a bit brutal to just do it in one place. At least Nagoya or Osaka as well, i don't know.

Anyway, that's what's going on.

if youre in the UK, can't afford to heat your home and are able to leave the house, you may already have heard of warm banks

if you haven't- they are public spaces where you can go to stay warm, almost always for free. I know that at least the ones in my local area are run by charities or churches, open go everyone for free and provide wifi, hot drinks and sometimes food free too.

If this is something you need, but you don't know where to find one, this is a map that tells you where the nearest ones to you are.

Please, stay as safe and warm as you can this winter. I love you

#if you can't leave the house but can afford £30 or so and can open the door for deliveries i really recommend buying an electric blanket #even if you can leave the house they are very helpful at night #and cost WAY less to run than the heating #we already owned one and we run it about 6 hours a day #if thats the only thing we use other than things that are always on like the fridge it only adds up to about £2.60 total #our heating costs us about 3 times that for an hour
