Which Fabric Is The Best For Creating The Embroidery Design?
Tumblr media
If you love embroidery then you will have many questions in your mind. Let's say that you will find it difficult to find the best embroidery design you need and what can you do with the embroidered fabrics.
Fabric is the key material when it comes to the embroidery project and will heavily impact the final result. Hence, it's always important to choose the right fabric in which you are going to carry out the embroidery design. With the many designs available, you will feel confused. Hence make sure that you choose the right embroidery design you can use so that you can confidently carry out this process.
Which fabric is best for the embroidery design?
Whether you wish to start with hand embroidery or machine embroidery, know that there is no particular fabric that will fit your design. You can choose any fabric you need for the project based on a few factors. First, you have to determine what you are going to do with the embroidered fabrics. When you have decided this, then you can choose the best fabric for you.
You can choose the fabrics such as cotton, muslin, linen, silk or anyone based on your need. But make sure that you avoid the stretchy fabrics that will alter the result of the embroidery design. Hence just make sure that you avoid stretchy fabrics.
If you are still confident about the fabric to be chosen look for the fabric which is strong enough. Look for the fabric which will be strong enough to bear the stitching you make. You can narrow down the choices based on the final output you are going to make with the fabric. The top best fabrics for embroidery are:
1. Linen – It is the favourite fabric of many people who love embroidery. You can find it in any online or offline store. These are best since it will be easier for you to handle the linen fabric. Make sure that you get high-quality linen material so that you will get a great final output.
2. Cotton – 100% pure cotton fabric is also another popular choice for embroidery. It's light in weight and had a tighter weave. You will really enjoy carrying out embroidery in these fabrics. You can find that they are cheaper and easily available.
3. Denim – It's also a favourite fabric of many especially when it comes to up cycling clothes. It's nice and medium in weight. The fabric will be highly durable and it's not too hard to carry out embroidery in it.
When you are embroidering make sure that you are careful so that you will not hurt your hands. You can grab the fabric for your need from the online stores. If you choose the right wholesale online stores then you can find everything you need for the project in the online stores. In this way, you don’t need to waste your time and effort searching for them in the local stores.

Part 5 of A Treatise of Embroidery, crochet, and knitting with illustrations
By George C. Perkins, Anna Grayson Ford, and M. Heminway & Sons Silk co circa 1899.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another small upload since I came back early! Please note, this book was written in 1899, and as such uses a racist term to refer to the dyes that were used for the thread. If you'd like to read more about this period in time, the term, and the stereotypes that the Victorians had, I've actually linked the wikipedia article here that goes more in depth. It's not the end all be all of it, but it's a good starting place for anyone wanting to educate themselves on the topic. You're likely going to see this warning attached from now on as we're entering to the part of the book with the patterns, instructions, and coloured plates showing the designs. The dyes in this book have been named with a racist stereotype typical of victorians and their view of asian cultures.
